Abstract
To provide a medium conveyance device capable of applying a conveying force suitable for each of media different in thickness in order to convey the media different in thickness, and suppressing generation of wrinkles in a thin medium.SOLUTION: A medium conveyance device comprises: front-side and rear-side first conveyance means 1 which are provided longitudinally within a range of a length in a conveyance direction of a medium S of a conveyable minimum size, and hold and convey the medium S; second conveyance means 2 which is provided between the first conveyance means 1, holds the medium S, and conveys the held medium S while pulling the medium S toward the outside in a width direction crossing the conveyance direction; and control means 3 which performs control so as to hold and convey the medium S by using only the second conveyance means 2 when the medium S is a thin medium thinner than a predetermined thickness, whereas to hold and convey the medium S by using both the first conveyance means 1 and the second conveyance means 2 when the medium S is other than the thin medium.
