Abstract
To adjust clamping pressure to clamp a medium together with medium conveying operation to accommodate conveyance of media of different thicknesses without temporarily stopping media conveyance operation.SOLUTION: A medium conveying device includes first conveyance means 1 of a first conveyance path 11, second conveyance means 2 of a second conveyance path 12 that is different from the first conveyance path 11, first rotational drive means 4 that rotationally drives the first conveyance means 1, second rotational drive means 5 that rotationally drives the second conveyance means 2 and pressure contact force adjusting means 6 that is provided in at least either the first conveying means 1 or the second conveying means 2 and adjusts pressing force of pair-structured rotating bodies 3; the pressure contact force adjusting means 6 uses the drive source of the rotational drive means that does not apply the driving force for conveying media S to the first conveyance means 1 or the second conveyance means 2 and adjusts pressure contact force of the conveying means that clamps and conveys media S when either the first conveyance means 1 or the second conveyance means 2 clamps and conveys media S.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
