Description

Base station, wireless terminal, communication system, communication method, and program

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a base station, a wireless terminal, a communication system, a communication method, and a program.

[0002] In recent years, XR (Extended Reality) services that provide experiences in virtual worlds such as VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) have been attracting attention. The market size of XR services is expected to expand in the future. Accordingly, 3GPP (registered trademark), which develops wireless communication standards, is currently studying communication standards for efficiently providing XR services.

[0003] Non-Patent Document 1 discloses that in an XR service in which uplink traffic and downlink traffic occur simultaneously, adjusting the communication timing of the uplink traffic and downlink traffic is effective in achieving power saving.

[0004] Non-Patent Document 2 discloses details of a scheduling process for allocating radio resources to UEs (User Equipments) that perform uplink and downlink communications.

[0005] 3GPP TSG RAN Meeting #96 Discussion on XR enhancements for NR RP-2214463GPP TS 38.300 V16.8.0 (2021-12)

[0006] Non-Patent Document 2 discloses that a gNB (g NodeB), which corresponds to a base station, allocates resources for receiving downlink data to a UE and notifies the UE of the allocated radio resources using a control message or a control channel. Furthermore, Non-Patent Document 2 discloses that a gNB allocates resources for transmitting uplink data to a UE and notifies the UE of the allocated radio resources using a control message or a control channel. Here, in XR services, in order to achieve power saving, it is desirable to schedule and notify resources more efficiently than the scheduling process and notification method to the UE disclosed in Non-Patent Document 2, which are performed for each of uplink communication and downlink communication.

[0007] In view of the above-mentioned problems, one of the objectives of the present disclosure is to provide a base station, a wireless terminal, a communication system, a communication method, and a program that can realize an efficient resource scheduling and notification method.

[0008] A base station according to a first aspect of the present disclosure includes a determination unit that determines whether a wireless terminal to which wireless resources are to be allocated is a wireless terminal that is subject to bidirectional scheduling of uplink data transmission and downlink data reception, and a communication unit that transmits information indicating the wireless resources allocated to the uplink and downlink to the wireless terminal that is subject to the bidirectional scheduling using a common control message or control channel.

[0009] A wireless terminal according to a second aspect of the present disclosure includes a communication unit that receives information indicating radio resources allocated to an uplink and a downlink using a common control message or a control channel, and a control unit that determines radio resources for transmitting the uplink data and radio resources for receiving the downlink data using the information indicating the radio resources notified using the common control message or the control channel.

[0010] A communication system according to a third aspect of the present disclosure includes a base station having: a determination unit that determines whether a wireless terminal to which wireless resources are to be allocated is a wireless terminal that is subject to bidirectional scheduling of uplink data transmission and downlink data reception; and a communication unit that transmits, to the wireless terminal that is subject to the bidirectional scheduling, information indicating the wireless resources allocated to the uplink and the downlink, using a common control message or control channel; and a wireless terminal having: a communication unit that receives, using the common control message or control channel, the information indicating the wireless resources allocated to the uplink and the downlink, and a control unit that determines the wireless resources for transmitting the uplink data and the wireless resources for receiving the downlink data, using the information indicating the wireless resources notified using the common control message or control channel.

[0011] A communication method according to a fourth aspect of the present disclosure determines whether a wireless terminal to which wireless resources are to be allocated is a wireless terminal that is subject to bidirectional scheduling of uplink data transmission and downlink data reception, and transmits information indicating the wireless resources allocated to the uplink and downlink to the wireless terminal that is subject to the bidirectional scheduling using a common control message or control channel.

[0012] A program according to a fifth aspect of the present disclosure causes a computer to determine whether a wireless terminal to which wireless resources are to be allocated is a wireless terminal that is subject to bidirectional scheduling of uplink data transmission and downlink data reception, and transmits, to the wireless terminal that is subject to the bidirectional scheduling, an information notification indicating the wireless resources allocated to the uplink and downlink using a common control message or control channel.

[0013] The present disclosure makes it possible to provide a base station, a wireless terminal, a communication system, a communication method, and a program that can realize efficient resource scheduling and notification methods.

FIG. 10 is a diagram showing a configuration diagram of a radio terminal and a UE according to the present disclosure.

[0015] (First embodiment) Hereinafter, a configuration example of a base station 10 will be described with reference to Fig. 1. The base station 10 may be a computer device that operates by a processor executing a program stored in a memory. The base station may be, for example, a gNB defined in 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project).

[0016] The base station 10 includes a determination unit 11 and a communication unit 12. The determination unit 11 and the communication unit 12 may be software or modules that are executed by a processor executing a program stored in a memory. Alternatively, the determination unit 11 and the communication unit 12 may be hardware such as a circuit or a chip. The base station 10 may be referred to as an access node, for example.

[0017] The determination unit 11 determines whether or not a radio terminal to which radio resources are to be allocated is a radio terminal that is a target of bi-directional scheduling of uplink data transmission and downlink data reception.

[0018] The radio resources may be those defined in 3GPP, which defines NR (New Radio) as a wireless communication standard. 3GPP defines that one frame consists of 10 subframes. One subframe has a length of 1 ms (millisecond). Furthermore, one slot has 14 symbols in the case of normal CP, and its length varies depending on the sub-carrier spacing. For example, the sub-carrier spacing is defined as 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, or 240 kHz. For example, when the sub-carrier spacing is 15 kHz, one subframe includes one slot. When the sub-carrier spacing is 30 kHz, one subframe includes two slots. When the sub-carrier spacing is 60 kHz, one subframe includes four slots. When the sub-carrier spacing is 120 kHz, one subframe includes eight slots. When the sub-carrier spacing is 240 kHz, one subframe includes 16 slots.

[0019] A wireless terminal is assigned radio resources, with one slot or one symbol being the smallest unit, and transmits and receives data. The radio resources may also be referred to as resource blocks. Uplink data is data that the wireless terminal transmits to the base station 10, and downlink data is data that the base station 10 transmits to the wireless terminal. The uplink data and downlink data include control data and user data. The control data may also be referred to as C (Control)-Plane data, for example, and the user data may also be referred to as U (User)-Plane data.

[0020] Bidirectional scheduling may involve, for example, a base station allocating radio resources for uplink data and radio resources for downlink data to a wireless terminal in an associated manner. Allocating radio resources includes determining the timing of data transmission and reception at the wireless terminal, the amount of radio resources to be used, and their locations on the frequency axis. In other words, bidirectional scheduling may involve allocating radio resources for uplink data and radio resources for downlink data in an associated manner rather than allocating them independently. In yet another way, bidirectional scheduling does not require the base station to notify the wireless terminal of radio resource scheduling for uplink data and downlink data using different control messages or control channels. In this case, bidirectional scheduling may involve the base station notifying the wireless terminal using a common control message or control channel. In yet another way, bidirectional scheduling may involve the base station simultaneously allocating radio resources for uplink data and radio resources for downlink data to one wireless terminal. Allocating the radio resources for uplink data and the radio resources for downlink data in association with each other may mean that when one of the radio resources is determined, the other radio resource is also uniquely determined. Here, scheduling in which the radio resources for uplink data and the radio resources for downlink data are independently allocated may be referred to as unidirectional scheduling or one-way scheduling.

[0021] The determination unit 11 may determine whether or not a wireless terminal is a target of bidirectional scheduling based on a message received from the wireless terminal. The message received from the wireless terminal may include, for example, information indicating that the wireless terminal is a target of bidirectional scheduling. The information indicating that the wireless terminal is a target of bidirectional scheduling may be a parameter or a flag. Alternatively, the determination unit 11 may have in advance data for managing whether or not the wireless terminal is a target of bidirectional scheduling. Alternatively, the determination unit 11 may determine whether or not the wireless terminal is a target of bidirectional scheduling based on a message received from a node located in the core network. The message received from the node located in the core network may include, for example, subscriber information regarding the wireless terminal.

[0022] The communication unit 12 transmits, to a wireless terminal that is a target of bidirectional scheduling, information indicating radio resources allocated to the uplink and downlink using a common control message or control channel. The information indicating the radio resources allocated to the uplink and downlink using the common control message or control channel may include, for example, periodicity information indicating a period of either one of the timings for transmitting uplink data or the timing for receiving downlink data. Furthermore, the information indicating the radio resources may include time information indicating a time difference between the timing for transmitting uplink data and the timing for receiving downlink data. The communication unit 12 may transmit a message including the periodicity information and the time information to the wireless terminal. Alternatively, the communication unit 12 may notify the wireless terminal of radio resources for which periodicity information and time information are set in a protocol at a layer lower than the protocol layer used for transmitting the message including the periodicity information and the time information. The radio resources for which periodicity information and time information are set may be, for example, radio resources allocated for receiving data by the wireless terminal.

[0023] Scheduling for a wireless terminal to periodically transmit uplink data or periodically receive downlink data may be referred to as semi-persistent scheduling. The periodicity information may be, for example, a transmission interval at which the wireless terminal transmits uplink data or a reception interval at which the wireless terminal receives downlink data.

[0024] The time information indicating the time difference between the timing of transmitting uplink data and the timing of receiving downlink data may be, for example, information indicating the time from when the wireless terminal transmits the uplink data to when it receives the downlink data, or the time information may be information indicating the time from when the wireless terminal receives the downlink data to when it transmits the uplink data.

[0025] Next, a configuration example of the wireless terminal 20 will be described with reference to Fig. 2. The wireless terminal 20 may be a computer device that operates when a processor executes a program stored in a memory. The wireless terminal 20 may be a smartphone terminal, an IoT (Internet of Things) terminal, or the like. The wireless terminal 20 may be User Equipment (UE), which is a general term used for terminal devices in 3GPP.

[0026] The wireless terminal 20 has a communication unit 21 and a control unit 22. The communication unit 21 and the control unit 22 may be software or modules that perform processing when a processor executes a program stored in a memory, or the communication unit 21 and the control unit 22 may be hardware such as a circuit or a chip.

[0027] The communication unit 21 receives information indicating radio resources allocated to the uplink and downlink from the base station 10 using a common control message or control channel. The information indicating the radio resources allocated to the uplink and downlink using the common control message or control channel may include, for example, periodicity information indicating the period of either the timing of transmitting uplink data or the timing of receiving downlink data. Furthermore, the information indicating the radio resources may include time information indicating the time difference between the timing of transmitting uplink data and the timing of receiving downlink data.

[0028] The control unit 22 determines the radio resources for transmitting uplink data and the radio resources for receiving downlink data using information indicating the radio resources allocated to the uplink and the downlink using a common control message or control channel. For example, when the periodic information indicates the timing for transmitting uplink data, the control unit 22 determines the timing for transmitting the uplink data according to the periodic information. Furthermore, the control unit 22 may determine the timing for receiving downlink data using the timing for transmitting the uplink data and the time information. The control unit 22 determining the timing for transmitting the uplink data and the timing for receiving the downlink data may be specifying the radio resources used by the control unit 22 for transmitting the uplink data and receiving the downlink data. In other words, the communication unit 21 transmits the uplink data using the radio resources specified by the control unit 22 and receives the downlink data using the radio resources specified by the control unit 22.

[0029] Next, the flow of communication processing executed in the base station 10 will be described with reference to Fig. 3. First, the determination unit 11 determines whether a wireless terminal to which wireless resources are to be allocated is a wireless terminal that is subject to bidirectional scheduling of uplink data transmission and downlink data reception (S11). Next, the communication unit 12 transmits information indicating the wireless resources allocated to the uplink and downlink to the wireless terminal that is subject to bidirectional scheduling using a common control message or control channel (S12).

[0030] Next, the flow of communication processing executed in the wireless terminal 20 will be described with reference to Fig. 4. First, the communication unit 21 receives information indicating radio resources allocated to the uplink and downlink using a common control message or control channel (S21). Next, the control unit 22 determines radio resources for transmitting uplink data and radio resources for receiving downlink data using the information indicating the radio resources allocated to the uplink and downlink using the common control message or control channel (S22).

[0031] As described above, the base station 10 indicates the period of either the timing for transmitting uplink data or the timing for receiving downlink data, and indicates the time difference between the timing for transmitting the uplink data and the timing for receiving the downlink data. This allows the base station 10 to assign radio resources for uplink data and radio resources for downlink data to a wireless terminal in an associated manner. As a result, the number of control messages or control channels to be notified to the wireless terminal can be reduced compared to when the base station 10 independently schedules and notifies the radio resources for uplink data and the radio resources for downlink data. In other words, the signaling overhead when the base station 10 notifies the wireless terminal of the scheduling result can be reduced.

[0032] Second Embodiment Next, a configuration example of a communication system will be described with reference to Fig. 5. The communication system in Fig. 5 illustrates a communication system defined by 3GPP. For example, the communication system includes a gNB 30, a UE 41, a UE 42, and a core network device 50.

[0033] The gNB 30 corresponds to the base station 10 in Fig. 1. The gNB 30 is a base station that supports wireless communication using 5G (5th Generation), a wireless communication standard defined by 3GPP. The gNB 30 manages a cell, which is a communication area where wireless communication can be performed, and performs wireless communication using 5G with UE 41 and UE 42 present in the cell.

[0034] The UE 41 and the UE 42 may be, for example, wireless terminals that can use XR services. The UE 41 and the UE 42 may be smartphone terminals or terminals worn by a person, such as headset-type wireless terminals.

[0035] The core network device 50 is a node that constitutes 5GC (5G Core). The nodes that constitute 5GC include, for example, an Access and Mobility management Function (AMF) entity, a Session Management Function (SMF) entity, and a Unified Data Management (UDM) entity.

[0036] Next, the flow of the process of applying bidirectional scheduling will be described with reference to Fig. 6. First, the core network device 50 notifies the gNB 30 of downlink (DL) traffic characteristics (S31). The DL traffic characteristics may be included in a message defined in the Next Generation Application Protocol (NGAP), for example, and transmitted from the core network device 50 to the gNB 30. The DL traffic characteristics may include values indicating, for example, a packet size, a packet arrival rate, a packet delay budget, a packet success rate requirement, a dual eye buffer model, etc.

[0037] Furthermore, the DL traffic characteristics may include information indicating a multi-stream DL traffic model. The information indicating a multi-stream DL traffic model may be, for example, information indicating I-frames and P-frames, information indicating video and audio / data, or information indicating an FOV and an omnidirectional stream. The information indicating I-frames and P-frames may include, for example, information indicating a slice-based traffic model or a GOP (Group Of Picture) based traffic model.

[0038] Next, the UE 41 notifies the gNB 30 of uplink (UL) traffic characteristics (S32). The UL traffic characteristics may be included in a message defined in the RRC (Radio Resource Control) protocol, for example, and transmitted from the UE 41 to the gNB 30. The message defined in the RRC protocol may be, for example, an RRC message.

[0039] The UL traffic characteristics may include values indicating a packet size, a packet arrival rate, a packet delay budget, and a packet success rate requirement. The UL traffic characteristics may further include information regarding the time between DL traffic and UL traffic. The information regarding the time between DL traffic and UL traffic may be, for example, the maximum time allowed from receiving DL traffic to transmitting UL traffic, or the maximum time allowed from transmitting UL traffic to receiving DL traffic. The information regarding the time between DL traffic and UL traffic may be determined, for example, according to QoS information regarding an application service used by the UE 41. Alternatively, the information regarding the time between DL traffic and UL traffic may be determined according to performance information of the UE 41. Furthermore, DL traffic may be referred to as downlink data, and UP traffic may be referred to as uplink data.

[0040] The gNB 30 may receive the UL traffic characteristics after receiving the DL traffic characteristics, or may receive the DL traffic characteristics after receiving the UL traffic characteristics.

[0041] Next, the gNB 30 determines whether the UE 41 is a target of bidirectional scheduling (S33). The gNB 30 may determine that the UE 41 is a target of bidirectional scheduling if the UL traffic characteristics include information regarding the time between DL traffic and UL traffic. Alternatively, the UE 41 may include a parameter or flag in the UL traffic characteristics that explicitly indicates that the UE 41 is a target of bidirectional scheduling. In this case, the gNB 30 may determine that the UE 41 is a target of bidirectional scheduling if the UL traffic characteristics include a parameter or flag that explicitly indicates that the UE 41 is a target of bidirectional scheduling. In the following description, the content indicated using a parameter may be indicated using a flag. The bidirectional scheduling may be, for example, scheduling according to semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) or configured scheduling (CS). Specifically, SPS is scheduling used by the gNB 30 to periodically transmit downlink data. Specifically, CS is a scheduling used by UE41 to periodically transmit uplink data in accordance with a UL grant or configured grant set in gNB30.

[0042] Furthermore, when the UE 41 is subject to bidirectional scheduling, the gNB 30 determines periodicity information indicating the periodicity of data transmission in SPS or CS, information regarding multiples of the periods of uplink and downlink data transmission and reception based thereon, and time information indicating the difference between the timing at which the UE 41 transmits uplink data and the timing at which the UE 41 receives downlink data. The time information may be referred to as a time offset or offset. The periodicity information and the time information may be indicated using a time such as milliseconds (ms) or seconds (s), or may be indicated using the number of slots.

[0043] For example, the gNB 30 may determine the SPS period according to the packet arrival rate included in the DL traffic characteristics. That is, the gNB 30 may determine the SPS period according to the interval at which downlink data to be transmitted to the UE 41 is received from the core network. For example, the gNB 30 may set the maximum value of the packet arrival rate as the SPS period, the average value of the packet arrival rate as the SPS period, or the minimum value of the packet arrival rate as the SPS period. The gNB 30 may also determine the CS period according to the packet arrival rate included in the UL traffic characteristics. That is, the gNB 30 may determine the CS period according to the interval at which the UE 41 transmits uplink data. For example, the gNB 30 may set the maximum value of the packet arrival rate as the CS period, the average value of the packet arrival rate as the CS period, or the minimum value of the packet arrival rate as the CS period.

[0044] Furthermore, the gNB 30 may determine time information (time offset) according to information regarding the time between DL traffic and UL traffic included in the UL traffic characteristics. For example, the gNB 30 may use the time between DL traffic and UL traffic included in the UL traffic characteristics as the time offset. Alternatively, the gNB 30 may use a value obtained by adding or subtracting a predetermined time from the time between DL traffic and UL traffic included in the UL traffic characteristics as the time offset.

[0045] Next, a flow of the scheduling process and notification to the UE will be described with reference to Fig. 7. It is assumed that the application process of bidirectional scheduling in Fig. 6 is executed before the scheduling process shown in Fig. 7 is executed, and the UE 41 is determined to be a target of bidirectional scheduling.

[0046] First, the gNB 30 transmits SPS information to the UE 41 by RRC layer signaling (S41). Transmitting the SPS information to the UE 41 by RRC layer signaling may be rephrased as transmitting an RRC message including the SPS information to the UE 41. The SPS information may be referred to as SPS-Configuration or SPS-Config. The SPS information may include information that the UE 41 is a target of bidirectional scheduling, periodicity information, and time information.

[0047] For example, the periodicity information indicates a period in which the UE 41 receives downlink data. The period in which the UE 41 receives downlink data may be substantially the same as the period in which the gNB 30 transmits downlink data. Furthermore, the periodicity information may indicate a period in which the UE 41 transmits uplink data using a multiple of the period in which the downlink data is received. For example, the period in which the uplink data is transmitted may be indicated as twice or three times the period in which the downlink data is received. When the period in which the uplink data is transmitted is twice the period in which the downlink data is received, it means that the number of times the uplink data is transmitted is half the number of times the downlink data is received. " / " indicates division or a fraction. When the period in which the uplink data is transmitted is three times the period in which the downlink data is received, it means that the number of times the uplink data is transmitted is one-third the number of times the downlink data is received. When the period in which the uplink data is transmitted is the same as the period in which the downlink data is received, it is indicated as 1x.

[0048] Furthermore, if the transmission timing of the uplink data and the reception timing of the downlink data coincide with each other, the time information may be 0.

[0049] Next, the gNB 30 transmits DCI (Downlink Control Information) to the UE 41 via a PDCCH (Physical Downlink Control Channel) and transmits downlink data to the UE 41 via a PDSCH (S42).

[0050] For example, extended DCI format 1_0 may be used for DCI transmitted by the PDCCH. General DCI format 1_0 is used for scheduling PDSCH in a cell managed by a gNB. Furthermore, when SPS is performed, general DCI format 1_0 is transmitted to a UE by the PDCCH together with a CRC scrambled by CS-RNTI. General DCI format 1_0 includes information indicating an identifier for DCI format, frequency domain resource assignment, time domain resource assignment, modulation and coding scheme, and RIV (Resource Indicator Value) related to downlink data. The frequency domain resource assignment and the time domain resource assignment are resources allocated to downlink data (downlink resources) and may be referred to as allocated downlink assignments. Information indicating a modulation and coding scheme and a resource indicator value (RIV) are parameters used to control reception of downlink data. The downlink data is transmitted to the UE 41 via a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH). The uplink data is transmitted from the UE 41 via a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH).The parameter used to control reception of downlink data may be, for example, a parameter indicating an MCS (Modulation and Coding Scheme) or a parameter indicating an RIV (Resource Indicator Value), and may further include other parameters. The RIV may be information indicating, for example, the number of resource blocks, the length of consecutively allocated resource blocks, information identifying the first resource block among the allocated resource blocks, etc. The UE 41 controls reception of the PDSCH using the received parameters. Controlling reception of the PDSCH may include, for example, identifying radio resources (e.g., resource blocks) that include downlink data or in which downlink data is configured, and further decoding the downlink data.

[0051] Here, if the packet sizes of the downlink data and the uplink data are substantially the same or have symmetry, the parameters used to control the reception of the downlink data and the transmission of the uplink data may be the same.

[0052] When the packet sizes of the downlink data and the uplink data are different, the parameters used to control the reception of the downlink data may be different from the parameters used to control the transmission of the uplink data. The case where the packet sizes of the downlink data and the uplink data are different may be, for example, a case where small data, a BSR (Buffer Status Report), or the like is transmitted as uplink data.

[0053] On the other hand, the extended DCI format 1_0 supports bidirectional scheduling. Therefore, an Identifier for bi-directional scheduler may be included instead of the Identifier for DCI format. For example, when the value of the bit indicating the Identifier for bi-directional scheduler is set to 1, it may indicate that bidirectional scheduling is performed. Furthermore, when the value of the bit indicating the Identifier for bi-directional scheduler is set to 0, it may indicate that bidirectional scheduling is not performed or that scheduling of downlink data only is performed. Alternatively, the value of the bit indicating that bidirectional scheduling is performed may be 0, and the value of the bit indicating that scheduling of downlink data only is performed may be 1.

[0054] Alternatively, assuming that bidirectional scheduling is performed, it may indicate that the parameters used to control the reception of downlink data and the transmission of uplink data are the same when the value of the bit indicating the Identifier for bi-directional scheduler is set to 0. Furthermore, it may indicate that the parameters used to control the reception of downlink data are different from the parameters used to control the transmission of uplink data when the value of the bit indicating the Identifier for bi-directional scheduler is set to 1.

[0055] Furthermore, extended DCI format 1_0 may add information related to uplink data, such as frequency domain resource assignment, time domain resource assignment, and modulation and coding scheme, to the information included in general DCI format 1_0. The frequency domain resource assignment and time domain resource assignment related to uplink data are resources allocated to uplink data (uplink resources) and may be referred to as allocated uplink grants. The modulation and coding scheme and the like related to uplink data are parameters used to control transmission of uplink data. The UE 41 controls transmission of the PUSCH using the received parameters. Controlling reception of the PUSCH may include, for example, identifying radio resources (e.g., resource blocks) including uplink data or configured with uplink data, and further modulating the uplink data. However, if it is indicated that the parameters used to control reception of downlink data and transmission of uplink data are the same, the modulation and coding scheme and the like related to uplink data need not be added. Alternatively, if it is indicated that the parameters used to control the reception of downlink data and the transmission of uplink data are the same, the modulation and coding scheme, etc., for the uplink data may not be used or referenced in UE 41.

[0056] The PDCCH including the DCI specifies a CS-RNTI that identifies the UE 41 and activates the configured downlink assignments and configured uplink grants. That is, the PDCCH specifying the CS-RNTI activates resources allocated to downlink data transmitted to the UE 41 by SPS and resources allocated to uplink data transmitted by the UE 41. This allows the UE 41 to receive downlink data transmitted by the PDSCH. Furthermore, the UE 41 can transmit uplink data by the PUSCH. Furthermore, when stopping transmission of downlink data by SPS, the gNB 30 may transmit a PDCCH specifying the CS-RNTI to the UE 41 to deactivate the configured downlink assignments.

[0057] The PDCCH specifying the CS-RNTI may indicate that the allocated downlink assignments and allocated uplink grants are reused for each period indicated in the periodicity information. That is, after the gNB 30 transmits the PDCCH specifying the CS-RNTI to the UE 41 in step S42, the gNB 30 does not transmit the PDCCH specifying the CS-RNTI to the UE 41 thereafter, except when deactivating the allocated downlink assignments. From step S42 onwards, the UE 41 can receive downlink data transmitted by the PDSCH without receiving the PDCCH specifying the CS-RNTI. From step S42 onwards, the UE 41 repeatedly uses the parameters received in step S42 as parameters used to control reception of downlink data.

[0058] Next, the UE 41 transmits uplink data to the gNB 30 via PUSCH (S43). The UE 41 may transmit the uplink data in accordance with the SPS information received by RRC layer signaling in step S41 and the allocated uplink grants received in step S42. That is, the UE 41 may transmit the uplink data at a timing determined by the periodicity information and time information included in the SPS information, based on the timing at which the downlink data is received. From step S42 onwards, the UE 41 can transmit the uplink data via PUSCH without receiving a PDCCH specifying a CS-RNTI. From step S42 onwards, the UE 41 repeatedly uses the parameters received in step S42 as parameters used to control the transmission of the uplink data.

[0059] Next, the gNB 30 transmits downlink data to the UE 41 via a PDSCH (Physical Downlink Shared Channel) (S44). At this time, the gNB 30 indicates in step S42 that allocated downlink assignments are to be reused in the reception of downlink data in the UE 41, and therefore does not transmit a PDCCH specifying a CS-RNTI.

[0060] Next, the UE 41 transmits the uplink data to the gNB 30 via a PUSCH (Physical Uplink Shared Channel) (S45). The UE 41 transmits the uplink data at a timing determined by periodicity information and time information included in the SPS information, based on the timing at which the downlink data is received.

[0061] From step S45 onwards, processing similar to steps S44 and S45 is repeated until gNB30 transmits a PDCCH to UE41 that deactivates the allocated downlink assignments.

[0062] As described above, in the scheduling process, the gNB 30 determines the transmission timing of uplink data to the UE 41, which is the target of bidirectional scheduling, based on time information based on the reception timing of downlink data. This allows the gNB 30 to associate the scheduling of uplink data and downlink data in the scheduling process and notification method for the UE 41, which is the target of bidirectional scheduling. As a result, compared to a case where the scheduling of the uplink data and the notification of the scheduling of the downlink data are performed separately, an efficient scheduling and notification method can be realized in terms of reducing power consumption, overhead of control messages or control channels, and the like.

[0063] (Embodiment 3) Next, the flow of the scheduling process will be described with reference to Fig. 8. It is assumed that the process of applying bidirectional scheduling in Fig. 6 has been executed before the scheduling process shown in Fig. 8 is executed, and that UE 41 has been determined to be a target of bidirectional scheduling.

[0064] First, the gNB 30 transmits CS information to the UE 41 by RRC layer signaling (S51). Transmitting the CS information to the UE 41 by RRC layer signaling may be rephrased as transmitting an RRC message including the CS information to the UE 41. The CS information may include information that the UE 41 is a target of bidirectional scheduling, periodicity information, time information, and resource information.

[0065] For example, the periodicity information indicates a period in which the UE 41 transmits uplink data. Furthermore, the periodicity information may indicate a period in which the UE 41 receives downlink data using a multiple of the period in which the uplink data is transmitted. For example, the periodicity information may indicate that the period in which the UE 41 receives downlink data is twice or three times the period in which the uplink data is transmitted. If the period in which the downlink data is received is the same as the period in which the uplink data is transmitted, it is indicated as 1x.

[0066] Furthermore, if the transmission timing of the uplink data and the reception timing of the downlink data coincide with each other, the time information may be 0.

[0067] The resource information may include allocated downlink assignments, which are resources allocated to downlink data, and allocated uplink grants, which are resources allocated to uplink data.

[0068] The resource information may further include parameters used to control the reception of downlink data and the transmission of uplink data at the UE 41 .

[0069] Next, the UE 41 transmits uplink data via the PUSCH (S52). The UE 41 may transmit the uplink data in accordance with the CS information received by the RRC layer signaling in step S51. Specifically, the UE 41 transmits the uplink data in accordance with the periodicity information and allocated uplink grants.

[0070] Next, the gNB 30 transmits downlink data to the UE 41 via the PDSCH (S53). The UE 41 may receive the downlink data in accordance with the CS information received by RRC layer signaling in step S51. That is, the UE 41 may receive the downlink data in accordance with the allocated downlink assignments at a timing determined by the periodicity information and time information included in the CS information, with the timing at which the uplink data was transmitted as a reference.

[0071] After step S53, the same processes as steps S52 and S53 are repeated.

[0072] As described above, in the scheduling process, the timing of receiving downlink data is determined based on the timing of transmitting uplink data by the UE 41. In other words, the timing of receiving downlink data is associated with the timing of transmitting uplink data by the UE 41. In this way, the gNB 30 can associate the scheduling and notification of uplink data and downlink data in the scheduling process and notification method for the UE 41 that is the target of bidirectional scheduling.

[0073] (Fourth embodiment) Next, a flow of the scheduling process will be described with reference to Fig. 9. It is assumed that the process of applying bidirectional scheduling in Fig. 6 has been executed before the scheduling process shown in Fig. 9 is executed, and that the UE 41 has been determined to be a target of bidirectional scheduling.

[0074] First, the gNB 30 transmits CS information to the UE 41 by RRC layer signaling (S61). Transmitting the CS information to the UE 41 by RRC layer signaling may be rephrased as transmitting an RRC message including the CS information to the UE 41. The CS information may include information that the UE 41 is a target of bidirectional scheduling, periodicity information, and time information.

[0075] Next, gNB30 transmits the DCI to UE41 via PDCCH (S62).

[0076] The DCI transmitted by the PDCCH may use, for example, an extended DCI format 0_1. The general DCI format 0_1 is used to indicate PUSCH scheduling or CG downlink feedback information (CG-DFI) in a cell managed by the gNB. Furthermore, when CS is performed, the general DCI format 0_1 is transmitted to the UE by the PDCCH together with a CRC scrambled by the CS-RNTI. The general DCI format 0_1 includes an identifier for DCI format, frequency domain resource assignment, time domain resource assignment, modulation and coding scheme, etc., related to uplink data. The frequency domain resource assignment and the time domain resource assignment correspond to allocated uplink grants.

[0077] On the other hand, the extended DCI format 0_1 supports bidirectional scheduling. Therefore, an Identifier for bidirectional scheduler may be included instead of the Identifier for DCI format. For example, when the value of the bit indicating the Identifier for bidirectional scheduler is set to 1, it may indicate that bidirectional scheduling is performed. Furthermore, when the value of the bit indicating the Identifier for bidirectional scheduler is set to 0, it may indicate that bidirectional scheduling is not performed or that scheduling of only uplink data is performed. Alternatively, the value of the bit indicating that bidirectional scheduling is performed may be 0, and the value of the bit indicating that scheduling of only uplink data is performed may be 1.

[0078] Alternatively, assuming that bidirectional scheduling is performed, it may indicate that the parameters used to control the reception of downlink data and the transmission of uplink data are the same when the value of the bit indicating the Identifier for bi-directional scheduler is set to 0. Furthermore, when the value of the bit indicating the Identifier for bi-directional scheduler is set to 1, the parameters used to control the reception of downlink data may be different from the parameters used to control the transmission of uplink data.

[0079] Furthermore, extended DCI format 0_1 may include, in addition to the information included in general DCI format 0_1, frequency domain resource assignment, time domain resource assignment, modulation and coding scheme, etc., related to downlink data. The frequency domain resource assignment and time domain resource assignment related to downlink data correspond to allocated downlink assignments. However, if it is indicated that the parameters used to control the reception of downlink data and the transmission of uplink data are the same, the modulation and coding scheme, etc., related to downlink data may not be added. Alternatively, the modulation and coding scheme, etc., related to downlink data may not be used or referenced by the UE 41.

[0080] The PDCCH including the DCI specifies the CS-RNTI that identifies the UE 41 and activates the allocated uplink grants and allocated downlink assignments. That is, the PDCCH specifying the CS-RNTI activates resources allocated to uplink data transmitted by the UE 41 via the CS and resources allocated to downlink data received by the UE 41. This allows the UE 41 to transmit uplink data via the PUSCH and receive downlink data via the PDSCH. Furthermore, when stopping transmission of uplink data via the CS, the gNB 30 may transmit a PDCCH specifying the CS-RNTI to the UE 41 to deactivate the allocated uplink grants.

[0081] The PDCCH specifying the CS-RNTI may indicate that the allocated uplink grants and allocated downlink assignments are reused for each period indicated in the periodicity information. That is, after the gNB 30 transmits the PDCCH specifying the CS-RNTI to the UE 41 in step S62, the gNB 30 does not transmit the PDCCH specifying the CS-RNTI to the UE 41 thereafter, except when deactivating the allocated uplink grants. From step S62 onwards, the UE 41 can transmit uplink data via the PUSCH without receiving the PDCCH specifying the CS-RNTI. From step S62 onwards, the UE 41 repeatedly uses the parameters received in step S62 as parameters used to control reception of uplink data.

[0082] Next, the UE 41 transmits the uplink data to the gNB 30 by the PUSCH (S63). The UE 41 transmits the uplink data in accordance with the periodicity information included in the CS information and the enabled allocated uplink grants.

[0083] Next, the gNB 30 transmits downlink data to the UE 41 via the PDSCH (S64). The UE 41 may receive the downlink data in accordance with the CS information received by RRC layer signaling in step S61 and the allocated downlink assignments received in step S62. That is, the UE 41 may receive the downlink data in accordance with the allocated downlink assignments at a timing determined by the periodicity information and time information included in the CS information, with the timing at which the uplink data was transmitted as a reference. From step S64 onwards, the UE 41 can transmit the downlink data via the PDSCH without receiving a PDCCH specifying a CS-RNTI. From step S62 onwards, the UE 41 repeatedly uses the parameters received in step S62 as parameters used to control reception of the downlink data.

[0084] From step S64 onwards, processing similar to steps S63 and S64 is repeated until gNB30 transmits a PDCCH to UE41 that deactivates allocated uplink grants.

[0085] As described above, in the scheduling process according to the fourth embodiment, the timing of receiving downlink data is determined based on the timing of transmitting uplink data by the UE 41, as in the third embodiment. In this way, the gNB 30 can associate the scheduling of uplink data and downlink data in the scheduling process for the UE 41 that is the target of bidirectional scheduling.

[0086] Here, in the second to fourth embodiments, an example has been described in which the gNB 30 transmits SPS information or CS information to the UE 41 by RRC layer signaling. However, the SPS information or CS information may be transmitted to the UE 41 by a PDCCH. That is, in step S42 of FIG. 7 or step S62 of FIG. 9, the gNB 30 may transmit to the UE 41 by a PDCCH information that the UE 41 is a target of bidirectional scheduling, as well as periodicity information, time information, and resource information. The resource information may include parameters used by the UE 41 to control reception of downlink data and transmission of uplink data. Furthermore, the DCI transmitted by the PDCCH may be a further extension of the extended DCI format 1_0. For example, the DCI format 1_0 obtained by further extending the extended DCI format 1_0 may include periodicity information and time information added to the extended DCI format 1_0.

[0087] Alternatively, the periodicity information does not need to be included in the PDCCH when the gNB 30 periodically transmits the PDCCH to the UE 41. That is, the UE 41 determines the timing for receiving downlink data and the timing for transmitting uplink data every time it receives the PDCCH.

[0088] FIG. 10 is a block diagram showing an example configuration of a base station 10 and a gNB 30 (hereinafter referred to as the base station 10, etc.).
