Mitigation of radio desensitization for radios located in the same place in wireless networks that support train control

Abstract

Methods for mitigating radio desensitization between radios located in the same place for digital wireless communication systems for railways. One of the radios located in the same place manages application-context traffic, which may sometimes have a higher priority than wireless traffic on a centrally managed first channel. It is "protected" against radio desensitization caused by transmissions from a second radio on a second channel that is neither centrally managed nor synchronized with the first channel. The protecting radio learns the protected radio's ID, determines when the protected radio might receive higher-priority wireless packets on the first channel, and inhibits transmissions on the second channel during those times.
