Abstract
The present invention relates to the use of highly random ethylene alkanoate-acrylic bipolymers, which are synthesized by a semi-continuous emulsion polymerization process. This process is characterized by slow pre-emulsion addition rates (see Symbol = 0.009 kg / L / min), stabilized by alkyl glycol ether surfactants, temperatures above 75°C, and solids content above 25% by weight, which prevents the formation of long sequences (blocks) of the same monomer. This structural characteristic confers high efficiency to the ethylene alkanoate-acrylic bipolymers as complex water / crude oil emulsion removers in petroleum blends.
