Abstract

This is a conventional Fergusson / Frazier type suction cannula. Its suction tip, also called the active part, is described as a hollow tube with a single orifice, marked with the number 5. This is the main orifice of the tube, which is larger and comes standard on all Fergusson / Frazier type cannulas. The modification consists of adding four holes along the length of the suction tip or active part, creating what is known as an oral cavity obstruction control system. The Fergusson / Frazier cannula with this oral cavity obstruction control system is used as a Class I dental instrument. These holes facilitate the continuous and efficient removal of fluids, viscous liquids, semi-solids, and solids from the oral cavity during oral or maxillofacial surgery procedures.Figure 1, side 1, shows an aspiration tip, main body or tube, control port plus the vent valve, handle, and back connector. The aspiration tip contains the tube port found on all Fergusson / Frazier cannulas. The modification to this same aspiration tip is a smaller port perpendicular to the main tube port. Figure 2, side 2, shows an aspiration tip, main body or tube, vent valve, handle, and back connector. The aspiration tip contains the tube port found on all Fergusson / Frazier cannulas. The modification to this same aspiration tip is a smaller port perpendicular to the main tube port. Figure 3, side 3, shows an aspiration tip, main body or tube, vent valve, handle, and back connector. The suction tip contains the tube opening found on all Fergusson / Frazier cannulas. The modification, a smaller hole perpendicular to the main tube opening, is located at this same suction tip. Figure 4 (side 4) shows the suction tip, main tube, vent valve, handle, and back connector. This dental supply is a biotechnology product.
