Abstract

An integrated downhole apparatus and method for the efficient clean-out of sand, soft cement, and mud sediments in vertical, deviated, and horizontal oil and gas wellbores. The tool assembly comprises a single-nozzle jet pump coupled with a cup-type packer and a detachable distal drill bit, configured for deployment via hoist systems or coiled tubing at depths up to 4000 meters, The cup packer (rubber or polyurethane, single or dual configuration, 44 / 3- to 98 / 5- inch casing) allows independent rotation of the drill bit without rotating the tubing string via an internal spring mechanism (weight-on-bit) or optional hydraulic mud motor. Surface-pumped water drives the jet pump nozzle creating a pressure differential while the rotating bit agitates and breaks down compacted sediments. The cup packer isolates the target interval, directing power fluid through the jet pump to entrain dislodged debris and lift the slurry to surface in a single trip.
