Abstract
The present invention relates to a protective face shield with an articulated and detachable connection to a surgical mask, which acts as a physical barrier against biological fluids and particulate matter, and incorporates optical attenuation against blue and ultraviolet (UV) light. The device is characterized by comprising a protective sheet of translucent plastic material and at least two independent fastening clips permanently attached to its lower perimeter. Each fastening clip is defined as a single-body structure having two independent and opposing slots: a first upper slot where the edge of the sheet is permanently held by an adhesive agent; and a second lower slot, or gripping slot, which defines a variable light coupling channel whose internal geometry is delimited by four horizontal cylindrical bodies aligned in opposing pairs and entry edges with a beveled profile. The device is assembled by coupling and sliding the second groove of the clips along the malleable metal nose bridge of the surgical mask. This bridge is then confined and held in place by geometric interference and elastic friction between the volumes of the cylindrical bodies. Disassembly is performed by concentric linear pulling, allowing the face shield to be separated for disinfection and independent disposal from the surgical mask.
