Transparent dentifrice comprising zinc

Abstract

Disclosed is an aqueous alcohol-free dentifrice gel having pH 6 to 8.5 comprising: a) 4 to 50 wt% abrasive silica; b) 0.1 to 2.5 wt% of a sparingly water-soluble compound of zinc whose solubility at 20°C is 0.001 to 4 g / 100 g water, and, c) 0.05 to 0.5 wt% sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide, wherein the composition comprises 0.6 to 1.5 moles of hydroxide ions per mole of zinc ions in said sparingly water-soluble compound of zinc.
