Abstract

A food container made of food-grade paperboard has a container body of rectangular cross-section that tapers from a wider open top to a narrower closed base, the front wall, rear wall, and side walls each being of trapezoidal shape and converging from the top opening to the base to impart structural rigidity and to permit comfortable one-handed gripping and nesting. The container body carries an interlocking flap closure system at its open top, comprising a front top flap and a rear top flap each carrying a locking tab, and a pair of triangular side top flaps. When the flaps are folded inwardly, the locking tabs engage cooperating locking slots to form a positive mechanical interlock, providing a secure, re-closable, and tamper-evident top cover without the need for adhesives, fasteners, or a separate lid. The front wall and the rear wall are each provided with a ventilation slot and a secondary ventilation aperture that allow steam to escape and prevent condensation within the container
