Abstract

The present invention relates to a polyherbal tablet formulation for the treatment of gouty arthritis and hyperuricemia. The formulation comprises ethanol extracts of six medicinal plants, each contributing specific bioactive compounds with xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitory, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. The tablet includes Colchicum autumnale (50mg), Berberis vulgaris (100 mg), Apium graveolens (25 mg), Capparis decidua (25 mg), Fagonia cretica (25 mg), and Trachyspermum ammi (75 mg), combined with a liquid glucose solution to form a 300 mg tablet. The manufacturing method involves ethanol extraction of each plant (70% ethanol, 72 hours), filtration, solvent evaporation under reduced pressure, blending of equal amounts of the extracts with glucose, and drying at 50°C for 12 hours. The resulting formulation demonstrates enhanced therapeutic efficacy in reducing uric acid levels and alleviating joint inflammation, supported by in vitro and in vivo pharmacological assays.
