An aerosol-generating device is provided, including: internal components; and an internal housing including: a first housing shell, and a second housing shell, the first housing shell and the second housing shell being configured to be laterally attachable to each other and to provide an internal enclosure when attached to each other, the internal enclosure being configured to house the internal components of the aerosol-generating device, the first housing shell including a first connection element and the second housing shell including a second connection element, the first connection element and the second connection element being configured to be connected with each other to facilitate the attachment between the first housing shell and the second housing shell, and one or both of the first connection element and the second connection element being configured as a snap-fit connection element.
