[0001] The present application claims priority to, and the benefit of, U.S. Provisional Application No. 63 / 762,829 which was filed on Feb. 25, 2025 and is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The present invention generally relates to bathroom accessories. More specifically, the present invention relates to a magnetic shower hook or suspension device configured to suspend a shower curtain and a liner from a shower curtain rod and designed to provide a separable, non-permanent alternative to conventional rings, clips, and threaded hooks. The invention comprises a hook assembly including a first arm and a second arm, each arm extending from an upper rod-engagement portion and configured to hang from the rod and each arm has a lower curtain-retention portion configured to receive a portion of a curtain and / or liner. Magnetic elements associated with the respective retention portions are configured to releasably couple the arms together, thereby forming a unitary hook device capable of supporting both the curtain and the liner. In some embodiments, the retention portions further include support tabs configured to engage grommets of the curtain and liner to provide localized load-bearing support while maintaining overall suspension from the rod. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.BACKGROUND

[0003] By way of background, shower curtains and liners are commonly suspended from a shower curtain rod using conventional hooks, rings, or clips. Standard shower curtain hooks typically require threading through apertures or grommets of both the curtain and the liner during installation. The conventional process can be inconvenient and time-consuming, particularly when a user desires to replace only one of the curtain or the liner. In many conventional arrangements, removal of one component necessitates removal of the other, resulting in unnecessary effort and disruption.

[0004] Moreover, various clip-type or snap-type fastening systems have been developed to simplify installation; however, such systems often include multiple moving parts or complex mechanisms that can be difficult to operate, especially when wet or soapy. There is a need for a hook assembly that enables a shower curtain and a liner to be installed, removed, or replaced independently without requiring complete disassembly of both components. Additionally, there exists a need for a hook device that can be easily attached to and removed from a shower curtain rod without threading through apertures or using complex fastening mechanisms. Moreover, there is a need for a hook that moves smoothly along the rod during operation while minimizing noise, binding, or uneven motion. Finally, there is a need for a durable hook device that resists corrosion, rust, and degradation in humid bathroom environments, thereby reducing maintenance and replacement costs.

[0007] The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment, comprises a magnetic shower hook or suspension device configured to provide a separable, non-permanent, and user-friendly alternative to conventional shower curtain hooks. The device includes a first arm and a second arm, each extending from an upper rod-engagement portion configured to suspend the arms from a shower curtain rod. Each arm further includes a curtain-retention portion disposed at a lower end thereof. Magnetic elements associated with the respective retention portions are configured to magnetically couple the arms together when brought into proximity, thereby forming a unitary hook assembly capable of supporting a shower curtain, a liner, or both. The shower curtain suspension device of claim 2, wherein said first magnetic element and said second magnetic element comprise mountable means to said first curtain-retention portion and said second curtain-retention portion selected from the group consisting of embedding, over molding, adhesive bonding, and mechanical fastening.

4. The shower curtain suspension device of claim 3, wherein said second exterior surface of said second arm faces said first exterior surface of said first arm when said first arm and said second arm are aligned.

5. The shower curtain suspension device of claim 4, wherein said first magnetic element is disposed within said first curtain-retention portion and said second magnetic element is disposed within said second curtain-retention portion.

6. The shower curtain suspension device of claim 5, wherein said second magnetic element is positioned to magnetically couple with said first magnetic element when said first arm is brought proximal to said second arm.

7. The shower curtain suspension device of claim 6, wherein said first retention portion releasably separated from said second retention portion by application of a manual pulling force between said first retention portion and said second retention portion.

8. The shower curtain suspension device of claim 7, wherein said first retention portion is configured to support a portion of the shower curtain.

9. The shower curtain suspension device of claim 8, wherein said second retention portion is configured to support a portion of the shower liner.

10. The shower curtain suspension device of claim 9, wherein said first magnetic element and said second magnetic element are encapsulated to prohibit corrosion in humid environments.

17. The method for suspending a shower curtain from a shower rod of claim 16, wherein said first magnetic element is disposed within said first curtain-retention portion and said second magnetic element is disposed within said second curtain-retention portion.

18. The method for suspending a shower curtain from a shower rod of claim 17, wherein said second magnetic element is positioned to magnetically couple with said first magnetic element when said first arm is brought proximal to said second arm.

19. The method for suspending a shower curtain from a shower rod of claim 18, wherein said first retention portion releasably separated from said second retention portion by application of a manual pulling force between said first retention portion and said second retention portion.
