AI Technical Summary
In wireless communication systems, especially in frequency range 2 (FR2) scenarios, the rapid deterioration of radio links can lead to unsuccessful transmission of cell switch commands (CSC) during layer 1/layer 2 (L1/L2) triggered mobility (LTM) procedures, resulting in mobility robustness issues and communication discontinuity.
A terminal device and network device configuration that allows the terminal device to determine a target transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state from a set of activated TCI states, based on a condition that triggers a cell switch, even in the absence of a cell switch command. This is achieved by receiving a message indicating the set of activated TCI states and a configuration of conditional L1/L2 triggered mobility, and determining the target TCI state accordingly.
This solution ensures continuous communication by enabling the terminal device to timely apply a target TCI state during cell switches, even in dynamic channel conditions, thereby improving mobility robustness and reducing communication disruptions.

Abstract
Description
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR COMMUNICATION
[0001] FIELDS
[0002] Example embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of communication techniques and in particular, to devices and methods for determining a target transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state.BACKGROUND
[0003] In order to ensure the communication continuousness in the wireless communication system, multiple technologies are proposed, such as cell switch. During the cell switch, the terminal device may switch among different cells. Further, technology of layer 1 / layer 2 (L1 / L2) triggered mobility (LTM) is used for enabling the cell switch. More specifically, user equipment (UE) may report measurement reports to the network device, and the LTM procedure may be triggered by the network device. Specifically, the network device may transmit a cell switch command (CSC) to the UE, where the CSC may comprise a target TCI state to be applied for the target cell.
[0004] However, during LTM procedure, the CSC may not be successfully transmitted to the UE sometimes due to the deteriorating radio link, particularly in frequency range 2 (FR2) scenario where UE often experiences rapid deterioration. Specifically, there is a time gap between reporting measurement results and receiving the CSC, and the channel quality may be experiencing a rapid deterioration during the time gap. In this event, such temporal gaps may influence the mobility robustness, especially in highly dynamic channels. As a result, another technology of conditional LTM (CLTM) is proposed. In the procedure of conditional LTM, the UE may trigger a cell switch to the target cell by itself without needing the network device transmit the CSC. However, as there is no CSC, the UE cannot determine the TCI state to be used on the target cell. In this event, the subsequent transmission on the target cell may not proceed accordingly.SUMMARY

It is noted that example embodiments of the present disclosure are equally applicable to other resources in other domains.
[0042] As discussed above, in order to ensure the communication continuousness in the wireless communication system, multiple technologies are proposed, such as cell switch. During the cell switch, the terminal device may switch among different cells. Further, an LTM procedure is used for enabling the cell switch. Reference is now made to FIG. 1A, which illustrates a signaling flow 100A of an LTM procedure.
[0043] As illustrated in FIG. 1A, during the LTM preparation, the UE may transmit layer 1 (L1) measurement report to the source cell.
[0044] In some embodiments, the L1 measurement report may be a synchronization signal and physical broadcast channel (PBCH) block (SSB) -based Ll-reference signal received power (L1-RSRP) measurement report. With such SSB-based L1-RSRP measurement report, a beam selection may be performed.
[0045] In some embodiments, the beam selection may be performed across the L cells from configured (or activated, if introduced) cells, i.e., M beams, for each of the L cells, where L and M are integers and L >= M. In some embodiments, parameters of M and L may be configured to the UE in the measurement reporting configuration.
[0046] In some embodiments, the following configurability may be introduced in the report configuration: whether the serving cell is always selected in the L-cell selection performed by the UE, and applicable when a UE is configured with L cells (L>=2) ; at least one of the inter-frequency cells is always selected in the L-cell selection performed by the UE, and applicable when a UE is configured with L cells (L>=2) and at least one of the L cells in the inter-frequency is selected.
[0047] In some embodiments, the UE may determine and select the L cells and M beams per cells by itself. In some embodiments, M x L beams may be reported in a single report instance.
[0048] In some embodiments, the maximum values of M and L may be based on UE capability, and at least M x L=4 is supported as a UE capability. Further, it may be allowed or not allowed to report less than M x L beams.
[0049] As illustrated in FIG. 1A, early synchronization may be performed. In some embodiments, at least downlink (DL) synchronization for candidate cell (s) based on at least SSB before cell switch command may be supported.
[0050] In some embodiments, as for uplink (UL) synchronization, timing advance (TA) acquisition of candidate cell (s) before receiving the CSC in LTM may be supported. Further, such acquired TA may be allowed or not allowed to be applied to the candidate cell (s) when the candidate cell (s) is deactivated secondary cell.
[0051] In some embodiments, both random access channel (RACH) -based solutions and RACH-less solutions may be used for acquiring TA of the candidate cells. In case of the RACH-based solutions, the RACH may be a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) ordered RACH, a UE triggered RACH, or a higher layer triggered RACH from the network rather than layer 3 handover command. In case of the RACH-less solutions, below procedure may be introduced: sounding reference signal (SRS) -based TA acquisition, receiving (RX) timing difference based, RACH-less mechanism as in LTE, UE based TA measurement (including UE based TA measurement with one timing advance command (TAC) from a serving cell) .
[0052] In some embodiments, as for PDCCH ordered RACH in LTE, at least the following enhancements are supported: introduce indication of candidate cell and / or RACH occasion (RO) of candidate cell in DCI, configuration of RACH resource for candidate cell (s) is provided prior to the PDCCH order.
[0053] In FIG. 1A, an early TCI activation may be performed. As illustrated in FIG. 1A, the MAC CE may be used for the TCI state activation for candidate cell (s) before the CSC. In some embodiments, in release 18 LTM procedure, in order to activate multiple joint TCI state or / and pair of (DL / UL) TCI states for the candidate cell case, it is not supported to activate the TCI state together with beam indication of the candidate cell in the same MAC CE message.
[0054] In some embodiments, the candidate cell TCI states activation / deactivation MAC CE may be identified by a MAC subheader.
[0055] In FIG. 1A, the source cell may send a CSC to the UE to trigger the LMT procedure.
[0056] In some embodiments, at least the following information may be included in the CSC: information used to identify the target cells, TA related information, one joint or one pair of UL and DL unified TCI state index for the target cell. Further, in some embodiments, the CSC may be used for activating the bandwidth parts (BWPs) for the target cell. In some embodiments, beam indication may be an RS identifier or TCI state index.
[0057] In some embodiments, in order to minimize beam (or TCI state) interruption time during the handover (i.e., cell switch) in the LTM procedure, the source cell may utilize the transmitted CSC to indicate a TCI state from a set of activated TCI states for the target cell to the UE. Thus, after the handover, the UE may immediately apply the indicated TCI state for the target cell to effectively receive or transmit DL or UL signal on the target cell.
[0058] In summary, with the LTM procedure in FIG. 1A, the communication continuousness may be improved. However, during the LTM procedure, the CSC may not be successfully transmitted to the UE sometimes due to the deteriorating radio link, particularly in FR2 scenario where UE often experiences rapid deterioration. Specifically, the there is a time gap between reporting measurement results and receiving the CSC, and the channel quality may be experiencing a rapid deterioration in the time gap. In this event, such temporal gaps may influence the mobility robustness, especially in highly dynamic channels. In view of this, in order to improve the successful handover probability (i.e., robustness) , another technology of conditional LTM (CLTM) is proposed, i.e., the LTM procedure may be triggered by UE based on network configured condition.
[0059] Reference is now made to FIG. 1B, which illustrates a signaling flow 100B of a conditional LTM procedure. As illustrated in FIG. 1B, during the conditional LTM, the UE may autonomously trigger the handover (i.e., cell switch) and does not receive the CSC transmitted from the source cell, which causes that the UE is unable to obtain the TCI state indicated by the source cell. Consequently, after the handover, the UE cannot switch to the TCI state for the target cell timely. This will result in a decrease in the quality of receiving or transmitting signals on the target cell, i.e., increase beam (or TCI state) interruption time during handover.
[0060] According to the present disclosure, a solution for determining a TCI state is proposed. In the solution, a terminal device receives a first message from a first cell (such as, a source cell) , where the first message indicates a set of TCI states associated with a second cell (such as, a target / candidate cell) . The terminal device also receives a configuration of conditional LTM from the first cell, where the configuration indicates that the terminal device is allowed to switch to the second cell based on the configuration; and in case that a condition that triggers a cell switch to the second cell is met, the terminal device determines, from the set of activated TCI states, a target TCI state to be applied to at least one transmission on the second cell.
[0061] In this way, even there is no CSC during the conditional LTM, the terminal device 210 also may perform transmission (s) on the target cell timely because the terminal device may determine target TCI state based on the set of activated TCI states. Therefore, the communication continuousness in the wireless communication system is further improved accordingly.

[0098] Work Principle and Example Signaling for Communication
[0099] Reference is made to FIG. 3 to 11, which will be discussed with reference to FIG. 2, for example, by using the terminal device 210, the network device 220, the first cell 230-1 and the second cell 230-2.
[0100] In the following descriptions, while operations are depicted in a particular order, this should not be understood as requiring that such operations be performed in the particular order shown or in sequential order, or that all illustrated operations be performed, to achieve desirable results. In certain circumstances, multitasking and parallel processing may be advantageous. Likewise, while several specific implementation details are contained in the above discussions, these should not be construed as limitations on the scope of the present disclosure, but rather as descriptions of features that may be specific to particular embodiments. Certain features that are described in the context of separate embodiments may also be implemented in combination in a single embodiment. Conversely, various features that are described in the context of a single embodiment may also be implemented in multiple embodiments separately or in any suitable sub-combination.
[0101] It is to be understood that the operations at the terminal device 210 and the network device 220 should be coordinated. In other words, the network device 220 and the terminal device 210 should have common understanding about configurations, parameters and so on. Such common understanding may be implemented by any suitable interactions between the network device 220 and the terminal device 210 or both the network device 220 and the terminal device 210 applying the same rule / policy. In the following, although some operations are described from a perspective of the terminal device 210, it is to be understood that the corresponding operations should be performed by the network device 220. Similarly, although some operations are described from a perspective of the network device 220, it is to be understood that the corresponding operations should be performed by the terminal device 210. Merely for brevity, some of the same or similar contents are omitted here.
[0102] In addition, in the following description, some interactions are performed among the terminal device 210 and the network device 220 (such as, exchanging configuration (s) and so on) . It is to be understood that the interactions may be implemented either in one single signaling / message / configuration or multiple signaling / messages / configurations, including system information, radio resource control (RRC) message, downlink control information (DCI) message, uplink control information (UCI) message, media access control (MAC) control element (CE) and so on. The present disclosure is not limited in this regard.
[0103] In the following example embodiments, the terminal device 210 is serving by the first cell 230-1. Further, the second cell 230-2 is a candidate cell for the terminal device 210. The first cell 230-1 is referred to as a source cell 230-1 or a serving cell 230-1, and the second cell 230-2 is referred to as a candidate cell 230-2 and the target cell 230-2.
[0104] Further, in some embodiments, both the first cell 230-1 and the second cell 230-2 may be provided by the network device 220-1. In some other embodiments, the first cell 230-1 and the second cell 230-2 may be provided by the network device 220-1 and the network device 230-2, respectively.
[0105] Reference is made to FIG. 3 first, which illustrates a signaling flow 300 for determining a TCI state in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0106] In operation, the terminal device 210 may receive 310 a first message from the first cell 230-1, where the first message indicates a set of TCI states associated with the second cell 230-2. The terminal device 210 may further receive 320 a configuration of conditional LTM from the first cell 230-1, where the configuration indicates that the terminal device 210 is allowed to switch to the second cell 230-2 based on the configuration.
[0107] Then, the terminal device 210 may determine 330 whether a condition that triggers a cell switch to the second cell 230-2 is met. If a condition that triggers a cell switch to the second cell 230-2 is met, th terminal device 210 may determine 340, from the set of activated TCI states, a target TCI state to be applied to at least one transmission on the second cell 230-2. Then, the terminal device 210 may perform 250 at least one transmission with the target TCI state accordingly.
[0108] In this way, even there is no CSC during the conditional LTM, the terminal device 210 also may perform transmission (s) on the target cell timely because the terminal device 210 may determine target TCI state based on the set of activated TCI states. Therefore, the communication continuousness in the wireless communication system is further improved accordingly. In addition, the terminal device 210 may determine the target TCI state applied for the target cell as soon as possible during the LTM procedure, such that the TCI state (or beam) interruption time may be reduced. Moreover, there is no need to introduce any additional signaling.
[0109] Merely for a better understanding, reference is now made to FIG. 4, which illustrates a signaling flow 400 for determining a TCI state in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0110] In FIG. 4, the target TCI state applied for the target cell may be determined based on a set of TCI states for the target cell activated by a MAC CE that is sent by the source cell. In other words, in the absence of the CSC, UE may determine and apply the activated TCI state to DL / UL signal transmission on the target cell.
[0111] As illustrated in FIG. 4, the source cell may transmit 410 a MAC CE for activating a set of activated TCI states (i.e., the first message, PDSCH carrying a MAC CE) for the target cell to the UE. The UE may respond 420 a hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) for PDSCH carrying the MAC CE. The UE may maintain 430 the set of activated TCI states.
[0112] In the following, the source cell may decide 440 that the UE may perform a cell switch (i.e., CLTM) to the target cell. Accordingly, the source cell may transmit 450 a configuration of CLTM for the target cell to the UE. After receiving the configuration, the UE may perform 460 a CLTM execution, i.e., determine whether a condition that trigger a cell switch to the target cell is met. Upon the condition being met, the UE may determine 470 a target TCI state applied for the target cell based on the set of activated TCI states. As a result, the DL / UL signal, e.g., RACH procedure related signals, on the target cell may be performed 480 accordingly.
[0113] In the following, how to determine the target TCI state will be discussed in detail.
[0114] In some embodiments, the target TCI state may be determined to be a TCI state with the lowest or the highest identifier.
[0115] Merely for a better understanding, reference is now made to FIG. 5, which illustrates a signaling flow 500 for determining a TCI state in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0116] In FIG. 5, the lowest-ID activated TCI state (TCI-1 refers to TCI state with ID = 1) , which also may be replaced by the highest-ID activated TCI state.
[0117] As illustrated in FIG. 5, the UE may receive 510 a MAC CE (i.e., the first message, PDSCH carrying the MAC CE) sent by the source cell. The MAC CE may activate a set of TCI states for the target cell (called “activated TCI states for the target cell” ) , which comes from a list of TCI states configured by RRC for the target cell. In FIG. 5, the set of TCI states may be TCI-1, TCI-3, TCI-6.
[0118] The UE may respond 520 an HARQ-ACK for PDSCH carrying the MAC CE. The UE may maintain 530 the set of activated TCI states, i.e., TCI-1, TCI-3, TCI-6.
[0119] In the following, the source cell may decide 540 that the UE may perform a cell switch (i.e., CLTM) to the target cell. Accordingly, the source cell may transmit 550 a configuration of CLTM for the target cell to the UE. After receiving the configuration, the UE may perform 560 a CLTM execution, i.e., determine whether a condition that trigger a cell switch to the target cell is met.
[0120] Further, after CLTM execution (or during the CLTM) , UE may determine 570 the target TCI state applied for the target cell based on one TCI state out of the activated TCI states for the target cell, i.e., the lowest-ID activated TCI state. As a result, the DL / UL signal, e.g., RACH procedure related signals, on the target cell may be performed 580 accordingly.
[0121] In some embodiments, the target TCI state may be determined to be a TCI state associated with an SSB determined by the most recent random access (RA) procedure initiated by the cell switch to the second cell 230-2.
[0122] In some embodiments, an index of the SSB associated with the RA procedure may be determined based on the set of activated TCI states.
[0123] Merely for a better understanding, reference is now made to FIG. 6, which illustrates a signaling flow 600 for determining a TCI state in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0124] In FIG. 6, the target TCI may be associated with an SSB (i.e., SSB index) that is determined by the most recent of an RA procedure that is initiated by CLTM, or request by RRC upon synchronous reconfiguration (e.g., handover based on condition) .
[0125] In some embodiments, if more than one activated TCI state are associated with the SSB, only one activated TCI state can be adopted, e.g., the lowest-ID activated TCI state.
[0126] In some embodiments, the SSB index associated with the PRACH occasion for the PRACH transmission on the target cell may be determined based on the activated TCI state (s) , e.g., one SSB out of SSB (s) associated with the activated TCI state (s) .
[0127] In FIG. 6, the TCI state TCI-1 is associated with SSB-0, the TCI state TCI-3 is associated with SSB-2 and the TCI state TCI-6 is associated with SSB-5.
[0128] As illustrated in FIG. 6, the UE may receive 610 a MAC CE (i.e., the first message, PDSCH carrying the MAC CE) sent by the source cell. The MAC CE may activate a set of TCI states for the target cell (called “activated TCI states for the target cell” ) , which comes from a list of TCI states configured by RRC for the target cell. In FIG. 6, the set of TCI states may be TCI-1, TCI-3, TCI-6.
[0129] The UE may respond 620 an HARQ-ACK for PDSCH carrying the MAC CE. The UE may maintain 630 the set of activated TCI states, i.e., TCI-1, TCI-3, TCI-6.
[0130] In the following, the source cell may decide 640 that the UE may perform a cell switch (i.e., CLTM) to the target cell. Accordingly, the source cell may transmit 650 a configuration of CLTM for the target cell to the UE. After receiving the configuration, the UE may perform 660 a CLTM execution, i.e., determine whether a condition that trigger a cell switch to the target cell is met.
[0131] Further, the UE may transmit 670 a PRACH with preamble associated with SSB-2. Thus, TCI-3 which is associated with the SSB-2 is applied 680. Specifically, TCI-3 may be applied 690 to the PDCCH / PDSCH with RAR and / or TCI-3 may be applied 695 to the other DL / UL signal.
[0132] In some embodiments, the target TCI state may be determined to be a TCI state associated with a reference signal (RS) with a strongest measurement result.
[0133] Merely for a better understanding, reference is now made to FIG. 7, which illustrates a signaling flow 700 for determining a TCI state in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0134] In FIG. 7, the TCI may be associated with an RS (e.g., source RS of QCL Type D) that is associated with a channel measurement resource (CMR) which corresponds to the largest L1-RSRP in recent L1 report.
[0135] In some embodiments, “the RS associated with the CMR” means that the RS is configured as the CMR, or the RS is associated with another RS that is configured as the CMR (e.g., another RS is configured as a source RS of QCL of the RS) .
[0136] In operation, the UE may perform 705 an L1 / L3 measurement, then the UE may transmit 710 a measurement report to the source cell, where the measurement report indicates that SSB-0 corresponding to the largest / strongest L1-RSRP.
[0137] As illustrated in FIG. 7, the UE may receive 615 a MAC CE (i.e., the first message, PDSCH carrying the MAC CE) sent by the source cell. The MAC CE may activate a set of TCI states for the target cell (called “activated TCI states for the target cell” ) , which comes from a list of TCI states configured by RRC for the target cell. In FIG. 6, the set of activate a set of TCI states may be TCI-1, TCI-3, TCI-6.
[0138] The UE may respond 720 an HARQ-ACK for PDSCH carrying the MAC CE. The UE may maintain 725 the set of activated TCI states, i.e., TCI-1, TCI-3, TCI-6.
[0139] In the following, the source cell may decide 730 that the UE may perform a cell switch (i.e., CLTM) to the target cell. Accordingly, the source cell may transmit 735 a configuration of CLTM for the target cell to the UE. After receiving the configuration, the UE may perform 740 a CLTM execution, i.e., determine whether a condition that trigger a cell switch to the target cell is met.
[0140] In case that the condition is met, the UE may apply 745 TCI-1 to the target cell, because the TCI-1 is associated with SSB-0, and the SSB-0 corresponds to the largest / strongest L1-RSRP. Then, the DL / UL signal, e.g., RACH procedure related signals, on the target cell may be performed 750 accordingly.
[0141] In some embodiments, if the number of TCI states comprised in the set of activated TCI states is one, the terminal device 210 may determine the TCI state comprised in the set of activated TCI states as the target TCI.
[0142] In some embodiments, if the number of TCI states with a specific type comprised in the set of activated TCI states is one, the terminal device 210 may determine the TCI state with the specific type comprised in the set of activated TCI states as the target TCI.
[0143] In some embodiments, the TCI state with the specific type may be one of the following: a joint TCI, a downlink TCI or an uplink TCI.
[0144] Merely for a better understanding, reference is now made to FIG. 8, which illustrates a signaling flow 800 for determining a TCI state in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0145] In FIG. 8, if at least one of the following conditions is fulfilled, the TCI state applied for the target cell may be determined directly based on the activated TCI state for the target cell: the MAC CE activates only one TCI state for the target cell, or the activated TCI state is a joint TCI state, DL TCI state or UL TCI state. In other words, if there is only one TCI state (or TCI state with a specific type in the MAC CE) , the activated TCI state may be applied to the target cell.
[0146] As illustrated in FIG. 8, the source cell may transmit 810 a MAC CE for activating the TCI-1 (i.e., the first message, PDSCH carrying a MAC CE) for the target cell to the UE. The UE may respond 820 an HARQ-ACK for PDSCH carrying the MAC CE. The UE may maintain 830 the set of activated TCI states.
[0147] In the following, the source cell may decide 840 that the UE may perform a cell switch (i.e., CLTM) to the target cell. Accordingly, the source cell may transmit 850 a configuration of CLTM for the target cell to the UE. After receiving the configuration, the UE may perform 860 a CLTM execution, i.e., determine whether a condition that trigger a cell switch to the target cell is met. Upon the condition being met, the UE may apply 870 the TCI-1 to the target cell. As a result, the DL / UL signal, e.g., RACH procedure related signals, on the target cell may be performed 880 accordingly.
[0148] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the second cell 230-2 may indicate the target TCI state to the terminal device 210. Specifically, the terminal device 210 may receive a second message indicating the target TCI state from the second cell 230-2, and then may determine the target TCI state based on the second message.
[0149] Merely for a better understanding, reference is now made to FIG. 9, which illustrates a signaling flow 900 for determining a TCI state in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0150] In FIG. 9, the TCI state applied for the target cell may be determined based on a TCI state indicated by a signaling (i.e., the second message) sent by the target cell, and the indicated TCI state comes from (i.e., is selected from) a set of TCI states for the target cell activated by an activation command (i.e., MAC CE, the first message) that is sent by the source cell.
[0151] In this way, the UE may determine the TCI state applied for the target cell as soon as possible during LTM to reduce TCI state (or beam) interruption time. Moreover, the target TCI state may be indicated more flexible and timelier.
[0152] As illustrated in FIG. 9, the source cell may transmit 910 a MAC CE for activating a set of TCI states (i.e., the first message, PDSCH carrying a MAC CE) for the target cell to the UE. The UE may respond 920 an HARQ-ACK for PDSCH carrying the MAC CE. The UE may maintain 930 the set of activated TCI states.
[0153] In the following, the source cell may decide 940 that the UE may perform a cell switch (i.e., CLTM) to the target cell. Accordingly, the source cell may transmit 950 a configuration of CLTM for the target cell to the UE. After receiving the configuration, the UE may perform 960 a CLTM execution, i.e., determine whether a condition that trigger a cell switch to the target cell is met. Upon the condition being met, the UE may transmit 970 a PRACH transmission to the target cell. As a result, the target cell may transmit 980 a signaling indicating the target TCI state (i.e., the second message) to the UE. With this signaling, the UE may determine 985 the target TCI state applied for the target cell based on the indicated TCI states. As a result, the DL / UL signal, e.g., RACH procedure related signals, on the target cell may be performed 990 accordingly.
[0154] In some embodiments, a new type of RA specific for a conditional LTM may be introduced. In this event, the layer 1 of the terminal device 210 may receive from a higher layer of the terminal device 210, a fourth indication indicating the layer 1 to initiate an RA procedure specific for a conditional LTM.
[0155] In some embodiments, a new type of RA procedure may be indicated, e.g., Type-3 random access procedure. In this event, prior to initiation of the physical RA procedure initiated by CLTM, layer 1 of the terminal device 210 may receive from a higher layer (s) an indication to perform the new type of RA procedure.
[0156] In some embodiments, the second message may be downlink control information (DCI) carried by a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmission carrying a random access response (RAR) .
[0157] Additionally, in some embodiments the DCI may be one of the following:
[0158] DCI format 1_0 carrying the RAR, comprising a first indication indicating the target TCI state,
[0159] DCI format 1_1 indicating the target TCI state, carrying the RAR,
[0160] DCI format 1_2 indicating the target TCI state, carrying the RAR, or
[0161] a dedicated DCI format indicating the target TCI state and carrying the RAR.
[0162] In some embodiments, the second message may be DCI, which may be carried by the PDCCH with RAR message.
[0163] In some embodiments, a TCI filed may be introduced in the DCI format 1_0 carried by the PDCCH with RAR message.
[0164] In some embodiments, DCI format 1_1, DCI format 1_2 or new DCI format (e.g., DCI format 1_3) may be applied in the case of the RA procedure initiated by CLTM.
[0165] In some embodiments, in response to a PRACH transmission associated with an RA procedure initiated by CLTM, UE may attempt to detect one of the above DCI formats with CRC scrambled by a corresponding C-RNTI during a window controlled by higher layers.
[0166] In some embodiments, at least part of the following information may be transmitted by means of the DCI format 1_0 (or DCI format 1_1, DCI format 1_2 or new DCI format) with CRC scrambled by C-RNTI:
[0167] information about a TCI state (i.e., TCI state ID) , e.g., transmission configuration indication –3 bits if this format is carried by a PDCCH with RAR message associated with a RA procedure initiated by CLTM; otherwise, 0 bit;
[0168] information about an active DL BWP, e.g., downlink bandwidth part indicator (DL BWP ID);
[0169] information about an active UL BWP, e.g., uplink bandwidth part indicator (UL BWP ID);
[0170] information used for triggering of aperiodic RS for tracking (TRS) , e.g., tracking request; information used for triggering the CSI acquisition and reporting, e.g., CSI request;
[0171] information used for triggering of aperiodic SRS, e.g., SRS request.
[0172] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the second message may be a medium access control (MAC) signaling carried by a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission carrying an RAR.
[0173] Additionally, in some embodiments, the MAC signaling may be one of the following:
[0174] a dedicated MAC control element (CE) comprising a second indication indicating the target TCI state, or
[0175] a MAC protocol data unit (PDU) for the RAR comprising a third indication indicating the target TCI state, or
[0176] a dedicated MAC PDU indicating the target TCI state and carrying the RAR.
[0177] In some embodiments, the third indication may be comprised in at least one of the following:
[0178] a field of timing advance command (TAC) ,
[0179] a field of uplink grant,
[0180] a field of temporal cell-radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI) , or
[0181] a subheader of the MAC CE for the RAR.
[0182] In some embodiments, the second message may be a MAC signaling (e.g., MAC PDU, MAC CE) , which may be carried by the PDSCH with RAR message.
[0183] In some embodiments, a new / dedicated MAC CE related to TCI state indication can be introduced, where the new / dedicated MAC CE may have a variable or fixed size with at least one of the following fields:
[0184] TCI state ID. Further, this field indicates the TCI state activated by the activation command (i.e., the MAC CE activating a set of TCI states) sent by the source cell (i.e., the last serving cell) ,
[0185] Active DL BWP, e.g., downlink bandwidth part indicator (DL BWP ID) ,
[0186] Active UL BWP, e.g., uplink bandwidth part indicator (UL BWP ID) ,
[0187] Triggering of aperiodic TRS, e.g., tracking request,
[0188] Triggering the CSI acquisition and reporting, e.g., CSI request,
[0189] Triggering of aperiodic SRS, e.g., SRS request.
[0190] In some embodiments, the TCI state indication may be introduced in a MAC PDU for RAR. In this event, one or multiple fields (e.g., TAC, UL grant, temporal C-RNTI) in the MAC payload for RAR (i.e., MAC RAR) may be used to indicate TCI state ID, when the RA procedure is initiated. In some embodiments, using the least significant bit (LSB) or most significant bit (MSB) bits of the field of TAC or temporal C-RNTI to indicate the target TCI state ID.
[0191] In some embodiments, the MAC PDU for RAR may comprises a MAC subheader with TCI state ID, or the MAC subheader comprises a filed indicating TCI state ID.
[0192] In some embodiments, a new / dedicated MAC PDU for RAR may be introduced. In some embodiments, the new MAC RAR may be of fixed or variable size and consists of at least one of the following fields: TCI state ID, or fields in the existing MAC RAR, e.g., TAC, UL grant, temporal C-RNTI. In some embodiments, if the RA procedure is not initiated by CLTM, the bits of the TCI state ID field may be considered as the reserved bits. In other words, no TCI state indication in the new MAC RAR.
[0193] According to some embodiments, the target TCI state may be indicated by the source cell. Specifically, the configuration of CLTM transmitted by the source cell may indicted the target TCI state to the UE.
[0194] In this event, the UE may determine the TCI state applied for the target cell as soon as possible during LTM to reduce TCI state (or beam) interruption time. Further, there is no need to pre-configured the set of activated TCI states, thus, both the RRC configuration providing a list of TCI states for the target cell and the MAC CE for activating the set of activated TCI states may be unnecessary.
[0195] Merely for a better understanding, reference is now made to FIG. 10, which illustrates a signaling flow 1000 for determining a TCI state in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0196] In FIG. 10, the source cell may decide 1010 that the UE may perform a cell switch (i.e., CLTM) to the target cell. Accordingly, the source cell may transmit 1020 a configuration of CLTM for the target cell to the UE, where the configuration of CLTM may comprise the target TCI state to be used on the target cell. After receiving the configuration, the UE may perform 1030 a CLTM execution, i.e., determine whether a condition that trigger a cell switch to the target cell is met. Upon the condition being met, the UE may determine 1040 a target TCI state applied for the target cell based on configuration of CLTM for the target cell. As a result, the DL / UL signal, e.g., RACH procedure related signals, on the target cell may be performed 1050 accordingly.
[0197] In some embodiments, UE may be provided by the network (such as, the source cell) with the CLTM configuration through an RRC signaling, where the CLTM configuration may be used to the initial CLTM procedure. Specifically, the CLTM configuration may comprises (or be associated with) at least one of the following information:
[0198] information about the TCI state or TCI state ID,
[0199] information about the Identifier of the target cell,
[0200] information about the Identifier of active DL / UL BWP of the target cell, or
[0201] information about the TA information associated with the target cell.
[0202] In some embodiments, during LTM, UE may determine the target TCI state applied for the target cell based on the TCI state or the TCI state ID configured in (or associated with) the CLTM configuration for the target cell. Additionally, in some embodiments, if the TCI state ID is configured in the CLTM configuration, UE may need to determine the corresponding TCI state based on a list of TCI states configured for the target cell.
[0203] In the following, how to apply the target TCI state will be discussed in detail.
[0204] In some embodiments, the target TCI state may be applying to one or more of the following transmissions comprise at least one of the following: a PRACH transmission, a PUCCH transmission, a PUSCH transmission, a PDCCH transmission, a PDSCH transmission, or an SRS transmission.
[0205] In some embodiments, in case that the target TCI state is applied to the PRACH transmission, an index of an SSB associated with a PRACH occasion for the PRACH transmission may be determined based on the target TCI state.
[0206] In some embodiments, in case that the target TCI state is applied to the PDCCH transmission, the target TCI state may be applied to a PDCCH transmission carrying a random access response (RAR) .
[0207] In some embodiments, in case that the target TCI state is applied to the PDSCH transmission, the target TCI state may be applied to a PDSCH transmission carrying an RAR.
[0208] Merely for a better understanding, reference is now made to FIG. 11, which illustrates a signaling flow 1100 for determining a TCI state in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0209] As illustrated in FIG. 11, the UE may perform 1110 a CLTM execution, i.e., determine whether a condition that trigger a cell switch to the target cell is met. In case that the condition is met, the UE may apply 1120 the determined TCI state to the target cell.
[0210] In some embodiments, the determined TCI state may be applied to any DL / UL signal (e.g., PRACH, PDCCH, PDSCH, PUCCH, PUSCH, SRS) transmitted on the target cell.
[0211] In some embodiments, the SSB index associated with the PRACH occasion for the PRACH transmission on the target cell may be determined based on the SSB associated with the determined TCI state.
[0212] In some embodiments, the determined TCI state may be applied to the PDCCH or PDSCH transmission with RAR message in the target cell.
[0213] Details about the timing for applying will be discussed in the following. In some embodiments, the target TCI state may be applied from one of the following:
[0214] the first slot after the PRACH transmission,
[0215] the last slot before the PRACH transmission,
[0216] the last or the first slot of the PRACH transmission,
[0217] the first slot after a PDCCH or PDSCH transmission carrying a random access response (RAR) ,
