The present invention also relates to a process for preparation of such pesticidal composition for synergistic and efficacious control of various pests including and plant diseases including leaf hoppers, Brown plant hopper (Nilparvata lugens), White backed plant hoppers (Sogatella furcifera), Green Leaf Hopper, whitefly, jassids, aphids, thrips, blast disease.

[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0005] Combination of pesticides are used to broaden the spectrum of control of pests and to improve the pest control with synergistic effect, reduce dosage, thereby reducing environmental impact, to broaden the spectrum of control, decrease chances of development and management of resistance and to enhance residual control so lesser the number of sprays for crop protections and minimizing the pesticidal load in ecosystem. The combination of pesticides at times demonstrate an additive or synergistic effect that results in an improved control on the pests.

[0006] Combination of insecticides and fungicides are used to broaden the spectrum of control of insect and fungal pests, reduce dosage, thereby reducing environmental impact, and decrease chances of development of resistance. The combination of insecticides and fungicides results in an improved control of the pests. Damage to seeds from insect and fungal pests is another major concern for agriculturalist. There are various diseases such as seed rot etc. which reduce germination rates and cause considerable decrease in yield. Treating the crops with insecticidal and fungicidal combinations helps reduce damage from both fungal diseases and insect pests. Another advantage of treating crops or specific plant propagation material is the improvement in germination rates, increased yield and improved plant health.

[0007] When fungicide resistance results from modification of a single major gene, pathogen subpopulations are either sensitive or highly resistant to the pesticide. Resistance in this case is seen as complete loss of disease control that cannot be regained by using higher rates or more frequent fungicide applications. This type of resistance is commonly referred to as "qualitative resistance." The control of phytopathogenic fungi and insect pests, which occur at the same time and at different stages of pest cycle, is of great economic importance since fungal and insect growth on plants or on parts of plants inhibits production of foliage, fruit or seed, and the overall quality of a cultivated crop.

[0008] The strobilurin, or Qol fungicides are extremely useful in controlling a broad spectrum of common vegetable pathogens. All strobilurin fungicides inhibit fungal respiration by binding to the cytochrome b complex III at the Q0 site in mitochondrial respiration. Simply said, the fungicide works by inhibiting the fungi’s ability undergo normal respiration. The strobilurin chemistries have a very specific target site, or mode-of-action (MOA). Although highly effective, fungicide chemistries like those in strobilurin fungicides with a very specific MOA, are susceptible to fungicide resistance development by some fungi. Therefore, proper fungicides rotations are necessary when fungicides with specific MOA’s are used in fungicide programs for controlling important diseases.

[0009] Hence, it is the need of the art to combine different systemic fungicide with preventive and curative action and which also act as plant growth regulator (PGR) to be used with specific insecticides for synergistic and efficacious control of various pests such as insect pests and fungi. PGRs help in increasing secretion of plant hormones and enzymes thereby activating root activity and promoting assimilation and translocation. These act as chemical messengers that facilitate intracellular communication. PGRs affect growth and differentiation of plants. More specifically, various PGRs can, for example stimulate seed germination, induce flowering, darken leaf coloring, minimize lodging of cereals, change the rate of plant growth, and modify the timing and efficiency of fruiting.

[0010] There are many pesticidal composition comprising fungicides and insecticides known in the art. There is however a need for improvement of such pesticidal compositions which are synergistic and equally effective, protective and having curative action to control various fungal diseases and insect pests. Single active compositions used over a long period of time has resulted in resistance. On account of such resistance development, more concentrated formulations are required to be applied resulting in various adverse effects on plant health and crop yield. With the onset of resistance to certain pests, there is a need in the art for a combination of actives that decreases chances of resistance and improves the spectrum of disease and pest control with improved crop yield and plant health.

[0011] There are many combinations of insecticides with fungicide known in the art, Reference can be made to CN 108522525 which discloses application of a composition containing Pyraclostrobin and Isoprothiolane, and relates to application of such composition in reducing or preventing infection of plants, plant propagation materials and plant organs, soil, materials or spaces grown later and storage objects by sigatoka or northern leaf blight fungus.

[0012] Further, reference can be made to CN102119687 which discloses a pesticidal composition containing Fluazinam and Isoprothiolane and application thereof, wherein the active ingredients of the bactericidal composition consist of the Fluazinam and the Isoprothiolane; and the mass ratio of the Fluazinam to the Isoprothiolane is 30: 1-1: 20.

[0013] Further, accordingly, there exists a need for combining fungicides and insecticides belonging to different chemical classes and showing different mechanism of action and useful for synergistic and effective control of various pests and diseases including leaf hoppers, Brown plant hopper (Nilparvata lugens), White backed plant hoppers (Sogatella furcifera), Green Leaf Hopper, whitefly, jassids, aphids, thrips, blast disease etc., at all stages of life cycle of the insect pests and fungi. The composition of the present invention is thus synergistic, reduces amount of pesticide used, is environmentally friendly, easy to formulate and is safe to use.

As used in the present disclosure, the forms "a,” "an," and "the" may be intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly suggests otherwise. Thus, for example, reference to a composition containing “a compound” includes a mixture of two or more compounds. It should also be noted that the term “or” is generally employed in its sense including “and / or” unless the content clearly dictates otherwise. The terms "comprises," "comprising," “including,” and “having,” are open ended transitional phrases and therefore specify the presence of stated features, integers, steps, operations, elements, but do not forbid the presence or addition of one or more other features, integers, steps, operations, elements, components, and / or groups thereof. The particular order of steps disclosed in the method and process of the present disclosure is not to be construed as necessarily requiring their performance as described or illustrated. It is also to be understood that additional or alternative steps may be employed. The term “active ingredient” (a.i.) or “active agent” used herein refers to that component of the composition responsible for control or killing of pest and disease control.

[0050] The term “crop” shall include a multitude of desired crop plants or an individual crop plant growing at a locus.

[0051] The term “synergistic”, as used herein, refers to the combined action of two or more active agents blended together and administered conjointly that is greater than the sum of their individual effects.

[0052] “Bioactive amounts” as mentioned herein means that amount which, when applied for treatment of crops, is sufficient to give effect in such treatment.

[0053] In an embodiment, the treatment may occur before sowing of the plant propagation material so that the sown material has been pre-treated with the combination. In particular, seed coating or seed pelleting are preferred in the treatment of the combinations according to the invention. As a result of the treatment, the active ingredients in the combination are adhered on to the seed and therefore available for pest and / or disease control.

[0054] The term “control” means to inhibit the ability of pests to survive, grow, feed and / or reproduce, or to limit the pests related damage or loss in crop plants. To “control” pests may or may not mean killing the insects although, it preferably means killing the pests.

[0055] The term “health of a plant” or “plant health” is defined as a condition of the plant and / or its products. As a result of the improved health; yield, plant vigour, quality and tolerance to abiotic or biotic stress is increased. [0128] Stability Data and Specification 0 BIO-EFFICACY DATA Evaluation of synergistic effect of pesticidal composition of the present invention

[0129] A synergistic effect of two or more products exists whenever the action of an active ingredient combination is greater than the sum of the actions of the individual components. Synergism was calculated by using Colby’s method (Weeds, vol. 15 No. 1 (Jan 1967), pp. 20-2.

[0130] The synergistic action expected for a given combination of two active components can be calculated as follows:

[0131] XY

[0132] E = (X + Y) -

[0133] 100

[0134] The synergistic action expected for a given combination of three active components can be calculated as follows:

[0135] (XY+YZ+XZ) (XYZ)

[0136] E = (X + Y + Z) - - + -

[0137] 100 10000

[0138] Where:

[0139] E represents expected percentage of pesticidal control for the combination of the two or three actives ingredients at defined doses (for example equal to x, y and z, respectively).

[0140] X is the percentage of pesticidal control observed by the compound (Compound of Formula I) at a defined dose (equal to x).

[0141] Y is the percentage of pesticidal control observed by the compound (Pymetrozine / Dinotefuran) at a defined dose (equal to y).

[0142] Z is the percentage of pesticidal control observed by the compound (Isoprothiolane) at a defined dose (equal to z).

[0143] When the percentage of pesticidal control observed for the combination is greater than the expected percentage, there is a synergism effect.

[0144] Observed control (%)

[0145] Ratio = -

[0146] Expected control (%)

[0147] Ratio of O / E > 1 , synergism observed The present invention is illustrated by way of examples, the examples are meant for illustrative purposes and should not be construed as limiting.

The binary combination of one fungicide and one insecticide (Compound of Formula I + Isoprothiolane and Dinotefuran + Isoprothiolane) T9 to T16 are less effective to control Blast disease and for BPH pest control as compared to ternary combination of Compound of Formula I + Dinotefuran + Isoprothiolane T1 to T4.

[0167] Experiment for Bio-efficacy evaluation of composition of present invention:

[0168] For the ternary and binary combination based on Compound of Formula I, Pymetrozine / Dinotefuran and Isoprothiolane evaluation under field conditions, the basic test composition as Compound of Formula I 10% + Pymetrozine 12% + Isoprothiolane 20% SE, Compound of Formula I 10% + Pymetrozine 12% + Isoprothiolane 20% EC and Compound of Formula I 10% + Dinotefuran 2.3% + Isoprothiolane 20% EC were manufactured specifically by the inventor. For ternary combination, Compound of Formula I 10% + Pymetrozine 12% / Dinotefuran 2.3% + Isoprothiolane 20% EC / SE was used and for binary combinations, Compound of Formula I 10% + Isoprothiolane 20% SE / EC and Pymetrozine 12% / Dinotefuran 2.3% + Isoprothiolane 20% SE / EC were used. The solo formulations of Compound of Formula I 10% EC / SE, Pymetrozine 12% / Dinotefuran 2.3% EC / SE and Isoprothiolane 20% EC / SE were used for comparison. The other formulations namely Pymetrozine 50 % WG and Isoprothiolane 40 % EC available in the market were also used for comparison.
