[0071] In order to make the objectives, technical solutions and advantages of this application clearer, the implementation methods of this application will be further described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0072] In related technologies, micro light emitting diodes (Micro LEDs) are often used to manufacture high-contrast or high-brightness backlight modules. These backlight modules include a substrate and multiple Micro LEDs disposed on the substrate, which can be used to provide light sources for liquid crystal display modules.
[0073] However, the backlight module in the related art is relatively thick, making it difficult to achieve thinning of the display device, and has low competitiveness in the display field.
[0074] FIG1 is a schematic structural diagram of a backlight module provided in an embodiment of the present application. Referring to FIG1 , it can be seen that the backlight module 10 includes: a substrate 101, a plurality of light-emitting diodes 102, and a color conversion structure 103. The first side of the substrate 101 has a first receiving groove 101a. The plurality of light-emitting diodes 102 are used to emit light of a first color, the color conversion structure 103 is located in the first receiving groove 101a, and the color conversion structure 103 is used to convert part of the light of the first color into light of a second color. The second color is different from the first color. Optionally, the first color can be blue.
[0075] The light of the first color emitted by the LED 102 may directly illuminate the color conversion structure 103 , or the light of the first color emitted by the LED 102 may be reflected or refracted by surrounding structures before irradiating the color conversion structure 103 .
[0076] The color conversion structure 103 is used to convert a portion of the first color light into a second color light. This means that a portion of the first color light remains unconverted, thereby combining the unconverted first color light with the converted second color light. For example, the combined light can be white and can be emitted from the light-emitting side of the backlight module 10, thereby providing backlight for the display module.
[0077] In the embodiment of the present application, the light-emitting side of the plurality of LEDs 102 and the color conversion structure 103 are spaced apart in a target direction X, where the target direction X is perpendicular to the supporting surface of the substrate 101. The spaced apart arrangement of the light-emitting side of the LEDs 102 and the color conversion structure 103 in the target direction X may mean that the light emitted by the LEDs 102 travels a certain distance in the target direction X before being irradiated onto the color conversion structure 103.
[0078] For example, referring to FIG1 , the light-emitting side of the LED 102 and the light-receiving side of the color conversion structure 103 are arranged opposite each other and spaced apart in the target direction X. This allows light emitted by the LED 102 to illuminate the color conversion structure 103 after traveling a certain distance in the target direction X. Alternatively, the light-emitting side of the LED 102 and the light-receiving side of the color conversion structure 103 face the same direction, and a reflective layer is provided on the light-emitting side of the LED 102. The reflective layer and the LED 102 are spaced apart in the target direction X. This allows light emitted by the LED 102 to be reflected by the reflective layer and then illuminate the color conversion structure 103.
[0079] In summary, the embodiment of the present application provides a backlight module. Since part of the light of the first color emitted by the light-emitting diode in the backlight module can be converted into light of the second color by the color conversion structure, the light emitted by the backlight module is a combination of the light of the first color and the light of the second color that have not been converted. In other words, the backlight module realizes light emission by combining the light-emitting diode and the color conversion structure, thereby improving the color gamut of the backlight module, and then improving the color gamut of the display device, ensuring the display effect of the display device. At the same time, since the color conversion structure is located in the first receiving groove of the substrate, that is, embedded in the interior of the substrate, the overall thickness of the backlight module can be reduced, which facilitates the thinning of the display device and improves the competitiveness of the display device in the display field.
[0080] As a first optional implementation, referring to FIG1 , multiple LEDs 102 are located outside the first receiving groove 101a and on the first side of the substrate 101. This allows the multiple LEDs 102 and the color conversion structure 103 to be spaced apart in the target direction X. The backlight module 10 further includes a first reflective layer 104 and a second reflective layer 105.
[0081] The first reflective layer 104 is located within the first receiving groove 101a, between the color conversion structure 103 and the bottom of the first receiving groove 101a. The second reflective layer 105 is located on the first side of the substrate 101, between the substrate 101 and the plurality of LEDs 102. The second reflective layer 105 has an opening 105a for light emitted by the LEDs 102 to pass through and illuminate the color conversion structure 103 within the first receiving groove 101a.
[0082] Optionally, the substrate 101 can be a glass substrate. In the process of preparing the backlight module 10, each structure can be first formed on a glass substrate with a thickness of 0.5 mm (millimeter) or 0.7 mm. Finally, after the preparation of other structures, the glass substrate is thinned so that the thickness of the final substrate 101 ranges from 0.1 mm to 0.3 mm. On the one hand, this method can enable the glass substrate to provide good support performance for other structures when other structures are formed on a thicker glass substrate. On the other hand, the finally thinned glass substrate 101 can ensure the thinning of the backlight assembly. Alternatively, in the process of preparing the backlight module 10, thin glass with a thickness of 0.1 mm to 0.3 mm can be directly used to ensure the thinning effect of the backlight module 10.
[0083] The first receiving groove 101a can be formed on the glass substrate by laser drilling or acid etching. The shape and size of the first receiving groove 101a can be related to the design objectives of the product. Typically, the first receiving groove 101a can be circular in shape, with a depth ranging from 10 μm (micrometers) to 100 μm and a diameter ranging from 20 μm to 300 μm.
[0084] Solution 1 (color conversion structure 103), referring to Figures 1 and 2, includes a plurality of first color conversion sections 1031a and a plurality of second color conversion sections 1032a, spaced apart from each other. The color conversion material of the first color conversion sections 1031a is red, and the first color conversion sections 1031a are configured to convert a portion of blue light into red light. The color conversion material of the second color conversion sections 1032a is green, and the second color conversion sections 1032a are configured to convert a portion of blue light into green light.
[0085] The blue light includes not only the light converted by the first color conversion portion 1031a and the second color conversion portion 1032a, but also the light not converted by the first color conversion portion 1031a or the second color conversion portion 1032a. In other words, blue light, red light, and green light are present between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105. These three colors of light combine and, after multiple reflections between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105, emerge from the second side of the substrate 101. The blue light, red light, and green light combine to form white light.
[0086] 3 , the color conversion structure 103 includes a plurality of third color conversion parts 1031b arranged at intervals. The color conversion material of the third color conversion parts 1031b is yellow, and the third color conversion parts 1031b are used to convert part of the blue light into yellow light.
[0087] The blue light includes not only the light converted by the third color conversion unit 1031b but also the light not converted by the third color conversion unit 1031b. That is, blue light and yellow light are present between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105. These two colors of light combine and, after multiple reflections between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105, emerge from the second side of the substrate 101. The blue and yellow light combine to form white light.
[0088] In the above-mentioned solutions 1 and 2, each color conversion portion is a patterned structure, and its shape can be circular, rectangular, or other shapes. The present embodiment does not limit the shape of each color conversion portion. Optionally, referring to Figure 4, taking solution 1 as an example, the first color conversion portion 1031a and the second color conversion portion 1032a are spaced and evenly arranged within the first receiving groove 101a.
[0089] In addition, the thickness of each color conversion part ranges from 3 μm to 20 μm, and the width ranges from 3 μm to 10 μm. Furthermore, 5% to 15% of scattering particles (such as titanium oxide) can be mixed into the color conversion material of each color conversion part to scatter light.
[0090] Solution 3 (color conversion structure 103), referring to FIG5 , color conversion structure 103 includes a first color conversion layer 1031c and a second color conversion layer 1032c stacked together. First color conversion layer 1031c is closer to light-emitting diode 102 than second color conversion layer 1032c. The color conversion material of first color conversion layer 1031c is either red or green, while the color conversion material of second color conversion layer 1032c is the other of red and green.
[0091] Alternatively, assume that the color-converting material of the first color-converting layer 1031c is red, and the color-converting material of the second color-converting layer 1032c is green. In this case, the first portion of the blue light can be converted to red light by the first color-converting layer 1031c, and the second portion of the blue light not converted by the first color-converting layer 1031c can be converted to green light by the second color-converting layer 1032c. The third portion of the blue light not converted by the first and second color-converting layers 1031c, 1032c, remains blue light. The converted red and green light, along with the unconverted third portion of the blue light, combine and, after multiple reflections between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105, emerge from the second side of the substrate 101. The blue, red, and green light combined together form white light.
[0092] Assume that the color-converting material of the first color-converting layer 1031c is green, and the color-converting material of the second color-converting layer 1032c is red. In this case, the first portion of the blue light can be converted into green light by the first color-converting layer 1031c. The second portion of the blue light not converted by the first color-converting layer 1031c, as well as the third portion of the converted green light, can also be converted into red light by the second color-converting layer 1032c. Furthermore, the fourth portion of the blue light not converted by the first and second color-converting layers 1031c, 1032c, remains blue light, and the fifth portion of the green light not converted by the second color-converting layer 1032c remains green light. Consequently, the converted red light, the unconverted fifth portion of the green light, and the unconverted fourth portion of the blue light combine and, after multiple reflections between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105, emerge from the second side of the substrate 101. The blue, red, and green light combine to form white light.
[0093] Solution 4 (color conversion structure 103), referring to FIG6 , the color conversion structure 103 includes a third color conversion layer 1031d. The color conversion material of the third color conversion layer 1031d is yellow. The third color conversion layer 1031d is used to convert part of the blue light into yellow light.
[0094] In addition to the blue light converted by the third color conversion layer 1031d, the blue light also includes light not converted by the third color conversion layer 1031d. In other words, blue light and yellow light are present between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105. These two colors of light combine and, after multiple reflections between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105, emerge from the second side of the substrate 101. The blue light and yellow light combine to form white light.
[0095] In the aforementioned solutions 3 and 4, each color conversion layer comprises a large film structure. Optionally, the combined thickness of the first color conversion layer 1031c and the second color conversion layer 1032c, as well as the thickness of the third color conversion layer 1031d, ranges from 5 μm to 100 μm. Furthermore, the color conversion material of each color conversion layer may contain 5% to 15% scattering particles (e.g., titanium oxide) to scatter light.
[0096] In the embodiment of the present application, referring to Figures 1 to 6, the backlight assembly 10 further includes a filling layer 106. The filling layer 106 can be filled in the first receiving groove 101a to fill the first receiving groove 101a. Optionally, the material of the filling layer 106 can be a resin material, such as acrylic resin or epoxy resin.
[0097] In the embodiment of the present application, the material of the first reflective layer 104 can be a metal reflective material, or a resin material with a high concentration of scattering particles. The thickness of the first reflective layer 104 ranges from 100 nm (nanometers) to 5 μm. Since the thickness of the resin material is generally about 10 μm, and the thickness of the metal reflective material can be about 100 nm, in order to avoid the thickness of the first reflective layer 104 being too thick, the material of the first reflective layer 104 can preferably be a metal reflective material. For example, the material of the first reflective layer 104 can be a highly reflective material such as silver (Ag).
[0098] The openings 105a of the second reflective layer 105 are required to transmit light of the first color and illuminate the color conversion structure 103. Therefore, the design of the openings 105a can correspond to that of the color conversion structure 103. For example, in the first and second embodiments of the color conversion structure 103, the second reflective layer 105 can be designed with multiple openings 105a, with the orthographic projection of each opening 105a on a reference plane overlapping the orthographic projection of a color conversion portion on the reference plane, where the reference plane is parallel to the supporting surface of the substrate 101. In the third and fourth embodiments of the color conversion structure 103, the second reflective layer 105 is also designed with multiple openings 105a, with the orthographic projection of each opening 105a on the reference plane revealing a portion of the color conversion layer.
[0099] Optionally, the second reflective layer 105 may be made of a metallic reflective material, or a resin material containing a high concentration of scattering particles. The thickness of the second reflective layer 105 ranges from 100 nm to 5 μm. Since the thickness of a resin material is typically around 10 μm, and the thickness of a metallic reflective material can be around 100 nm, to avoid the second reflective layer 105 being too thick, the second reflective layer 105 may preferably be made of a metallic reflective material. For example, the second reflective layer 105 may be made of a highly reflective material such as silver (Ag).
[0100] In the embodiment of the present application, referring to Figures 2 to 3 and 5 to 6, the backlight module 10 further includes a first grating structure 107. The first grating structure 107 can be used to transmit light emitted by the light-emitting diode 102 to between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105, and can block light between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105 from transmitting to the area where the light-emitting diode 102 is located. This ensures that light from the backlight module 10 can be emitted from the second side of the substrate 101. Referring to Figure 7, the orthographic projection of the first grating structure 107 on the reference plane is located at the orthographic projection of the first receiving groove 101a on the reference plane.
[0101] The law of refraction of light satisfies: n1*sinθ1=n2*sin90°. n1 can be the refractive index of the medium between the LED 102 and the first grating structure 107, for example, the refractive index n1 of the filling resin material, which can range from 1.3 to 1.5. θ1 can be the angle of the light irradiated onto the first grating structure 107. n2 can be the refractive index of the first grating structure 107, for example, the refractive index n2 can range from 1.8 to 2.5. 90° can be used to indicate that the angle of the refracted light is 90°.
[0102] Optionally, the first grating structure 107 has a plurality of grating slits, and the grating period of the first grating structure 107 is 360 to 390, where the grating period is used to represent the number of grating slits set within a length range of 1 micron. The height of the first grating structure 107 ranges from 70 nm to 100 nm, and the duty cycle is 0.5. The duty cycle of the first grating structure 107 refers to the ratio of the slit area to the non-slit area. The first grating structure 107 is used to transmit blue light and can block light of other colors from transmitting. The first grating structure 107 can be called a blue light grating, and the first grating structure 107 can be a transmission grating.
[0103] In the embodiment of the present application, since the first color of the light emitted by the LED 102 is blue, the wavelength range of the light emitted by the LED 102 is 450 nm to 480 nm. In addition, the width of the LED 102 can range from 20 μm to 300 microns, the thickness can range from 5 μm to 10 μm, and the brightness can range from 1000 nits to 200,000 nits.
[0104] Optionally, the light-emitting diode 102 has a light-emitting region 102a and a non-light-emitting region 102b. Referring to FIG8 , the orthographic projection of the light-emitting region 102a on the reference plane overlaps the orthographic projection of the color conversion structure 103 on the reference plane and also overlaps the orthographic projection of the first grating structure 107 on the reference plane. The non-light-emitting region 102b can be used to connect signal lines.
[0105] 8 , a light-emitting diode 102 includes a substrate 1021, and a first doped layer 1022, a light-emitting layer 1023, a second doped layer 1024, an insulating layer 1025, a first electrode 1026, and a second electrode 1027 located on the substrate 1021. The first doped layer 1022 has a first target region a1 and a second target region a2, and the light-emitting layer 1023 and the second doped layer 1024 are stacked on the first target region a1 and the first doped layer 1022. The insulating layer 1025 is located on a side of the second doped layer 1024 away from the substrate 1021. The insulating layer 1025 has a first via hole and a second via hole. The first via hole is used to expose a portion of the second doped layer 1024, and the second via hole is used to expose a portion of the second target region a2. The first electrode 1026 of the light-emitting diode 102 is electrically connected to the second doped layer 1024 through the first via hole, and the second electrode 1027 of the light-emitting diode 102 is electrically connected to the second target region a2 through the second via hole.
[0106] The light-emitting region 102 a of the light-emitting diode 102 may be a region between the first electrode 1026 and the second electrode 1027 , and the non-light-emitting region 102 b may include a region where the first electrode 1026 and the second electrode 1027 are located.
[0107] Referring to Figures 1 to 3 and Figures 5 and 6, the backlight module 10 further includes a first signal trace 108 and a second signal trace 109. The first signal trace 108 is connected to the first electrode 1026 and is used to provide a first signal to the first electrode 1026. The second signal trace 109 is connected to the second electrode 1027 and is used to provide a second signal to the second electrode 1027. The light-emitting diode 102 is configured to emit light when driven by both the first signal and the second signal. One of the first signal and the second signal can be a positive signal, and the other can be a negative signal.
[0108] Optionally, the first signal trace 108 and the second signal trace 109 may be made of a conductive material, such as copper (Cu). The thickness of the first signal trace 108 and the second signal trace 109 ranges from 2 μm to 5 μm, and the width ranges from 3 μm to 50 μm.
[0109] 2 to 3 and 5 to 6 , the backlight assembly 10 further includes a protective layer 110 located on a side of the second reflective layer 105 away from the substrate 101. The protective layer 110 primarily serves to flatten and protect the surface. The protective layer 110 may be made of an epoxy resin material with a transmittance greater than 99% and a thickness ranging from 1 μm to 3 μm.
[0110] Furthermore, the backlight assembly 10 further includes a lens 111. Lens 111 is positioned between the plurality of LEDs 102 and the color conversion structure 103, specifically on the side of the protective layer 110 away from the substrate 101. Lens 111 is configured to focus light emitted by the LEDs 102. The refractive index of the lens 111 material ranges from 1.4 to 2.0. The orthographic projection of lens 111 on the reference plane overlaps the orthographic projection of opening 105a in the second reflective layer 105 on the reference plane.
[0111] Optionally, the lens 111 may be a circular lens with a diameter ranging from 20 μm to 50 μm, or a strip lens with a width ranging from 30 μm to 50 μm. The embodiment of the present application does not limit the specific shape of the lens, and the drawings of the embodiment of the present application take a circular lens as an example.
[0112] The backlight assembly 10 further includes a white oil layer 112 located on a side of the plurality of light emitting diodes 102 away from the substrate 101 and used to cover the plurality of light emitting diodes 102 to prevent light leakage.
[0113] In the first optional implementation described above, referring to Figure 9 , light emitted by LED 102 is converged by lens 111 and transmitted through first grating structure 107. A portion of the transmitted first-color light undergoes color conversion by color conversion structure 103. After the converted and combined light, it reflects multiple times between first reflective layer 104 and second reflective layer 105 before exiting from the second side of substrate 101. For ease of illustration of the light path arrows in Figure 9 , individual structures are not labeled.
[0114] As a second optional implementation, referring to FIG10 , the color conversion structure 103 includes a fourth color conversion portion 1031e and a fifth color conversion portion 1032e spaced apart. The color conversion material of the fourth color conversion portion 1031e is red, and the fourth color conversion portion 1031e is configured to convert a portion of blue light into red light. The color conversion material of the fifth color conversion portion 1032e is green, and the fifth color conversion portion 1032e is configured to convert a portion of blue light into green light.
[0115] 10 , the backlight module 10 further includes a scattering structure 113 located within the first receiving groove 101a and between the fourth color conversion portion 1031e and the fifth color conversion portion 1032e. Light incident on the scattering structure 113 can be transferred by the scattering structure 113 to the area where the fourth color conversion portion 1031e or the fifth color conversion portion 1032e is located.
[0116] In this embodiment of the present application, the blue light includes not only the light converted by the fourth color conversion unit 1031e and the fifth color conversion unit 1032e, but also the light not converted by the fourth color conversion unit 1031e or the fifth color conversion unit 1032e. That is, blue light, red light, and green light are present between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105. These three colors of light combine and, after multiple reflections between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105, are emitted from the second side of the substrate 101. The blue light, red light, and green light combine to form white light.
[0117] Referring to Figure 11 , the orthographic projection of the light-emitting region 102a of the LED 102 on the reference plane overlaps the orthographic projections of the fourth color-converting portion 1031e, the scattering structure 113, and the fifth color-converting portion 1032e on the reference plane. For example, the light-emitting region 102a of the LED 102 may be circular, the fourth color-converting portion 1031e and the fifth color-converting portion 1032e may be semicircular, and the scattering structure 113 may be strip-shaped.
[0118] Optionally, the scattering structure 113 may be resin scattering particles (with a scattering particle content greater than 30%). The height of the scattering structure 113 ranges from 5 μm to 50 μm, and the width ranges from 3 μm to 10 μm. The thickness of the fourth color conversion portion 1031e and the fifth color conversion portion 1032e ranges from 2 μm to 50 μm, and the diameter ranges from 10 μm to 150 μm.
[0119] In the embodiment of the present application, the opening 105a of the second reflective layer 105 has a first region and a second region. The orthographic projection of the first region on the reference plane overlaps the orthographic projection of the fourth color conversion portion 1031e on the reference plane, and the orthographic projection of the second region on the reference plane overlaps the orthographic projection of the fifth color conversion portion 1032e on the reference plane. As a result, a portion of the light emitted by the LED 102 passes through the first region and is irradiated by the fourth color conversion portion 1031e, while another portion passes through the second region and is irradiated by the fifth color conversion portion 1032e.
[0120] Furthermore, referring to FIG10 , the backlight module 10 further includes a second grating structure 114 and a third grating structure 115. Both the second grating structure 114 and the third grating structure 115 have a plurality of grating slits. Referring to FIG11 and FIG12 , the second grating structure 114 is located in the first region, i.e., the orthographic projection of the second grating structure 114 on the reference plane overlaps the orthographic projection of the fourth color conversion portion 1031e on the reference plane. The third grating structure 115 is located in the second region, i.e., the orthographic projection of the third grating structure 115 on the reference plane overlaps the orthographic projection of the fifth color conversion portion 1032e on the reference plane.
[0121] The second grating structure 114 has a grating period of 430 to 470, and is used to block red light from passing through the region where the light-emitting diode 102 is located. The third grating structure 115 has a grating period of 400 to 430, and is used to block green light from passing through the region where the light-emitting diode 102 is located. Both the second grating structure 114 and the third grating structure 115 can be reflective gratings.
[0122] As can be seen from Figures 10 and 12 , the second grating structure 114 and the third grating structure 115 are adjacently disposed, with the boundary between the second grating structure 114 and the third grating structure 115 located above the scattering structure 113. Alternatively, referring to Figure 13 , a gap may exist between the second grating structure 114 and the third grating structure 115, so that the second grating structure 114 completely covers the fourth color conversion portion 1031e and the third grating structure 115 completely covers the fifth color conversion portion 1032e.
[0123] In a second optional implementation, the related designs of the substrate 101, the first receiving groove 101a, the filling layer 106, the first reflective layer 104, the second reflective layer 105 except the opening 105a, the light-emitting diode 102, the first signal trace 108, the second signal trace 109, the protective layer 110, the lens 111, and the white oil layer 112 can all refer to the above-mentioned first optional implementation, and the embodiments of the present application will not be repeated here.
[0124] Of course, referring to FIG. 14 , in a second optional implementation, the backlight module 10 may not be designed with the protective layer 110 and the lens 111 , and this embodiment of the present application does not limit this.
[0125] In the second optional implementation described above, referring to FIG15 , light emitted by the LED 102 passes through the second grating structure 114 and strikes the fourth color conversion portion 1031e, or passes through the third grating structure 115 and strikes the fifth color conversion portion 1032e. Light that strikes the scattering structure 113 is then transferred by the scattering structure 113 to the fourth color conversion portion 1031e or the fifth color conversion portion 1032e. After conversion by the fourth color conversion portion 1031e and the fifth color conversion portion 1032e, the converted light is combined with the unconverted light, and after multiple reflections between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105, it is emitted from the second side of the substrate 101.
[0126] As a third optional implementation, referring to FIG16 , multiple LEDs 102 are positioned outside the first receiving groove 101a and on the first side of the substrate 101. The first receiving groove 101a includes a plurality of spaced-apart first grooves C1, within which the color conversion structure 103 is positioned. The first grooves C1 can be relatively deep, allowing the color conversion structure 103 to be positioned within the first grooves C1. This allows for a greater distance between the surface of the color conversion structure 103 proximate the first side of the substrate 101 and the LEDs 102. This prevents heat generated by the LEDs 102 from affecting the performance of the color conversion structure 103.
[0127] Optionally, the ratio of the distance between the surface of the color conversion structure 103 close to the first side of the substrate 101 and the surface of the first side of the substrate 101 to the depth of the first groove C1 ranges from 1 / 5 to 3 / 5. Optionally, the depth of the first groove C1 ranges from 20 μm to 50 μm.
[0128] Solution 1 (color conversion structure 103), referring to Figure 16, includes multiple sixth color conversion sections 1031f and multiple seventh color conversion sections 1032f. Each first groove C1 is provided with one of the multiple sixth color conversion sections 1031f and the multiple seventh color conversion sections 1032f. The color conversion material of the sixth color conversion section 1031f is red, and the sixth color conversion section 1031f is used to convert a portion of blue light into red light. The color conversion material of the seventh color conversion section 1032f is green, and the seventh color conversion section 1032f is used to convert a portion of blue light into green light.
[0129] The blue light includes not only the light converted by the sixth color conversion unit 1031f and the seventh color conversion unit 1032f, but also the light not converted by the sixth color conversion unit 1031f or the seventh color conversion unit 1032f. In other words, blue light, red light, and green light are present between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105. These three colors of light combine and emerge from the second side of the substrate 101. The blue light, red light, and green light combine to form white light.
[0130] In the second embodiment (color conversion structure 103), referring to FIG17 , the color conversion structure 103 includes multiple eighth color conversion components 1031g. Each first groove C1 is provided with one of the eighth color conversion components 1031g. The color conversion material of the eighth color conversion component 1031g is yellow, and the eighth color conversion component 1031g is used to convert a portion of blue light into yellow light.
[0131] The blue light includes not only the light converted by the eighth color conversion unit 1031g but also the light not converted by the eighth color conversion unit 1031g. That is, blue light and yellow light are present between the first reflective layer 104 and the second reflective layer 105. These two colors of light combine and emerge from the second side of the substrate 101. The blue and yellow light combine to form white light.
[0132] In the above-mentioned schemes 1 and 2, the shape of each color conversion portion can be the same as the shape of the first groove C1. For example, referring to Figure 18, the sixth color conversion portion 1031f and the seventh color conversion portion 1032f can be circular, rectangular, or other shapes. The embodiment of the present application does not limit the shape of each color conversion portion and the first groove C1. Optionally, the thickness of each color conversion portion ranges from 2μm to 20μm. In addition, 5% to 15% of scattering particles (such as titanium oxide) can be mixed into the color conversion material of each color conversion portion to scatter light.
[0133] In the embodiment of the present application, the backlight assembly 10 further includes a lens 111. The lens 111 is positioned between the plurality of LEDs 102 and the color conversion structure 103, specifically within the first groove C1 and on the side of the color conversion portion adjacent to the first side of the substrate 101. The lens 111 can be used to focus the light emitted by the LEDs 102. The lens 111 can be fabricated by printing and photolithography. Furthermore, after designing the color conversion portion and the lens 111 within the first groove C1, the first groove C1 can be filled with a resin material to achieve a flattening effect.
[0134] Referring to Figure 18 , the sixth color conversion portion 1031f and the seventh color conversion portion 1032f are evenly distributed, and the corresponding first grooves C1 on the substrate 101 can also be evenly distributed. Referring to Figure 19 , the orthographic projection of the light-emitting area 102a of each light-emitting diode 102 on the reference plane can partially overlap the orthographic projection of the color conversion portion within the first groove C1 on the reference plane. Furthermore, the first signal trace 108 and the second signal trace 109 that provide signals to the light-emitting diode 102 can also partially overlap with the color conversion portion. Furthermore, the locations where the first signal trace 108 and the second signal trace 109 in Figure 19 connect to the light-emitting diode 102 have connection pads, and the connection pads and signal traces can be an integrated structure.
[0135] In the third optional implementation method, the relevant designs of the substrate 101, the light-emitting diode 102, the first signal trace 108, the second signal trace 109, and the white oil layer 112 can all refer to the above-mentioned first optional implementation method, and the embodiments of the present application will not be repeated here.
[0136] In the third alternative implementation described above, referring to Figure 20 , light emitted by LED 102 is focused by lens 111 and irradiated onto the color conversion unit. After conversion by the color conversion unit, the converted light combines with the unconverted light and exits from the second side of substrate 101. In Figure 20 , for ease of illustration, individual components are not labeled, and only a portion of the light path is depicted.
[0137] As a fourth optional implementation, referring to FIG21 , the first side of the substrate 101 further comprises a plurality of second receiving grooves 101 b, with each light-emitting diode 102 located within a second receiving groove 101 b. That is, the light-emitting diode 102 is embedded within the substrate 101. The first receiving groove 101 a comprises a plurality of second grooves C2 arranged at intervals, with the color conversion structure 103 located within the second grooves C2. Furthermore, the backlight module 10 further comprises a third reflective layer 116 located on the second side of the substrate 101, which is configured to reflect light emitted by the light-emitting diode 102 toward the first side of the substrate 101.
[0138] The third reflective layer 116 can be made of a metallic reflective material or a resin material with a high concentration of scattering particles. The thickness of the third reflective layer 116 ranges from 100 nm (nanometers) to 5 μm. Since the thickness of resin materials is generally around 10 μm, and the thickness of metallic reflective materials can be around 100 nm, to avoid the third reflective layer 116 being too thick, the third reflective layer 116 can preferably be made of a metallic reflective material. For example, the third reflective layer 116 can be made of a highly reflective material such as silver (Ag).
[0139] The second receiving groove 101b can be formed on the substrate 101 by laser drilling or acid etching. The shape and size of the first receiving groove 101a can match the light-emitting diode 102. In addition, the second receiving groove 101b also needs to be designed with a first signal trace 108 and a second signal trace 109 that provide signals to the light-emitting diode 102.
[0140] Furthermore, a filling material may be designed in the second receiving groove 101b to fill the second receiving groove 101b. Optionally, the filling material may be a resin material, such as acrylic resin and epoxy resin.
[0141] Solution 1 (color conversion structure 103), referring to Figure 21, the color conversion structure 103 includes multiple ninth color conversion parts 1031g and multiple tenth color conversion parts 1032g. Each second groove C2 is provided with one of the ninth color conversion parts 1031g and the tenth color conversion parts 1032g. The color conversion material of the ninth color conversion part 1031g is red, and the ninth color conversion part 1031g is used to convert a portion of blue light into red light. The color conversion material of the tenth color conversion part 1032g is green, and the tenth color conversion part 1032g is used to convert a portion of blue light into green light.
[0142] The blue light includes not only the light converted by the ninth and tenth color conversion sections 1031g and 1032g, but also the light not converted by the ninth and tenth color conversion sections 1031g and 1032g. In other words, the second side of the third reflective layer 116 near the substrate 101 contains blue light, red light, and green light. These three colors of light combine and emerge from the second side of the substrate 101. The blue, red, and green light combine to form white light.
[0143] In the second embodiment (color conversion structure 103), referring to FIG22 , the color conversion structure 103 includes multiple eleventh color conversion portions 1031h. Each second groove C2 is provided with one of the eleventh color conversion portions 1031h. The color conversion material of the eleventh color conversion portion 1031h is yellow, and the eleventh color conversion portion 1031h is used to convert a portion of blue light into yellow light.
[0144] The blue light includes not only the light converted by the eleventh color conversion unit 1031h but also the light not converted by the eleventh color conversion unit 1031h. In other words, the second side of the third reflective layer 116 near the substrate 101 contains blue and yellow light. These two colors of light combine and exit from the second side of the substrate 101. The blue and yellow light combine to form white light.
[0145] In the above-mentioned schemes 1 and 2, each color conversion portion is a patterned structure, and its shape can be the same as the shape of the second groove C2. For example, referring to Figure 23, the ninth color conversion portion 1031g and the tenth color conversion portion 1032g are both strip-shaped and staggered. The embodiment of the present application does not limit the shape of each color conversion portion. Optionally, the thickness of each color conversion portion ranges from 2μm to 5μm. In addition, 5% to 15% of scattering particles (such as titanium oxide) can be mixed into the color conversion material of each color conversion portion to scatter light.
[0146] As can be seen from Figures 21 and 22 , the backlight assembly 10 further includes an encapsulation layer 117 located on the first side of the substrate 101. This encapsulation layer 117 covers the plurality of second grooves C2 and the plurality of second receiving grooves 101b. In other words, this encapsulation layer 117 protects the color conversion portion within the second grooves C2 and the LEDs 102 within the second receiving grooves 101b.
[0147] Optionally, encapsulation layer 117 may have a three-layer structure, wherein the first layer is made of silicon nitride (SiNx) with a thickness of 1000 nm, the second layer is made of epoxy resin with a thickness of 10 μm, and the third layer is made of aluminum oxide (Al3O2) with a thickness of 100 nm. In other words, encapsulation layer 117 may have a three-layer structure of SiNx, epoxy resin, and Al3O2, with the first layer (SiNx) of the encapsulation layer being closer to substrate 101 than the third layer (Al3O2).
[0148] In the fourth optional implementation, the related designs of the substrate 101, the light-emitting diode 102, the first signal line 108, and the second signal line 109 can all refer to the above-mentioned first optional implementation, and the embodiments of the present application will not be repeated here.
[0149] In the fourth optional implementation described above, referring to Figure 24 , light emitted by the LED 102 impinges upon the third reflective layer 116 and is reflected by the third reflective layer 116 toward the color conversion unit. After the light impinging on the color conversion unit is converted by the unit, the converted light combines with the unconverted light and exits from the second side of the substrate 101. In Figure 24 , for ease of illustrating the light path arrows, the various structures in Figure 12 and the fill pattern of the substrate 101 are omitted, and only a portion of the light path is depicted in Figure 24 .
[0150] In summary, the embodiment of the present application provides a backlight module.
[0151] The present application also provides a display device, which includes: the backlight module 10 provided in the above embodiment, and a display module located on the light-emitting side of the backlight module 10. The backlight module 10 is used to provide backlight for the display module.
[0152] Optionally, the display device may be a liquid crystal display (LCD) device. The display device may be any suitable display device, including but not limited to mobile phones, tablet computers, televisions, monitors, laptop computers, digital photo frames, navigation devices, e-books, and any other products or components with display functions.
[0153] Since the display device can have substantially the same technical effects as the backlight module structure tube described in the previous embodiment, the technical effects of the backlight module will not be described again here for the purpose of brevity.
