AI Technical Summary
Current systems face challenges in efficiently managing global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information reporting, particularly in non-terrestrial networks (NTN) where high altitude and mobility lead to large and varying propagation delays, and IoT-NTN scenarios where simultaneous cellular and GNSS operations are not feasible due to limited device capability.
The proposed solution involves a wireless communication device that performs GNSS acquisition during a measurement window and reports GNSS-related information to a wireless communication node. This includes explicit or implicit indications of successful GNSS acquisition, using defined values, new or updated GNSS validity durations, or successful uplink transmission information. The device monitors for uplink grants and determines when to trigger radio link failure or enter idle mode based on timing windows and grant reception.
This approach ensures efficient consensus between the wireless communication device and the network on GNSS acquisition success, avoiding resource waste and interference by allowing the network to schedule transmissions only when the device is in sync, thereby improving overall system efficiency and reducing latency.

[0058] 2. Systems and Methods for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Information Report
[0059] In a non-terrestrial network (NTN) , due to high altitude and mobility of satellite, the propagation delay can be large and vary fast. To handle this large and varying propagation delay, a UE pre-compensation can be applied. A UE may perform autonomous estimation and pre-compensation of timing advance (TA) based on a location of the UE and satellite ephemeris. The location of the UE can be assumed to be obtained through a GNSS operation. However, in IoT-NTN, cellular operation and GNSS acquisition may not be assumed able to be simultaneously performed due to limited device capability. Therefore, in Internet of thing (IoT) -NTN, it is assumed that a UE may not update GNSS information during cellular operation. Since the GNSS information may be valid only during a period of time especially when the UE is moving, a validity duration associated with the GNSS information can be defined to illustrate during which time an uplink (UL) synchronization can be kept without GNSS information update. The GNSS related information (e.g., whether the GNSS acquisition is successful and how long the GNSS information can be valid) can be determined by a UE, which performs the GNSS operation. In order to achieve consensus with a network, the UE can report GNSS related information to network, which can avoid potential resource waste and interference due to scheduling of UL transmission when the UL synchronization is lost. In the present disclosure, the procedure of GNSS related information report is investigated, especially on how to achieve consensus between a UE and a BS on the result of GNSS acquisition.
[0060] FIG. 3 illustrates an example implementation of a non-terrestrial network (NTN) , in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The transparent NTN can be supported, whose structure of is illustrated in FIG. 3. A link between a UE (e.g., a user equipment, the UE 104, the UE 204, a mobile device, a wireless communication device, a terminal, etc. ) and a satellite can be a service link. A link between a BS (e.g., a base station, the BS 102, the BS 202, a gNB, an eNB, a wireless communication node, etc. ) and a satellite can be a feeder link and can be common for all UEs within the same cell.
[0061] In an IoT-NTN, due to limited UE capability, a UE may not be assumed to perform cellular operation and GNSS operation simultaneously. In Rel-17 IoT-NTN, a UE can be assumed to perform GNSS measurement only in an IDLE mode. The UE may report the GNSS validity duration in msg5. If the GNSS validity duration is expired, a UL synchronization can be thought lost and the UE may go back to an IDLE mode. In Rel-18 IoT-NTN, a UE performing GNSS measurement in RRC_CONNECTED mode can be investigated to be supported. However, it is still assumed that the UE may not detect a DL transmission and may transmit a UL transmission when performing GNSS measurement. In order to handle such issue, two types of potential solutions are investigated in Rel-18 IoT-NTN: (1) a network may configure an aperiodic / periodic GNSS measurement gap for a UE to perform GNSS measurement; (2) a UE may autonomously perform GNSS measurement based on a GNSS measurement timer, which may start based on current GNSS validity duration (e.g., starts upon expiration of GNSS validity duration with or without an offset) .
[0062] A UE may report GNSS position at fix time. The network can configure the length of GNSS measurement gap / timer, but can be larger than the UE-reported GNSS position fix time. If network does not configure the length, the length can be equal to the reported GNSS position fix time.
[0063] Implementation Example 1: Information Report after GNSS re-acquisition
[0064] In a NB-IoT over NTN and an eMTC over NTN, cellular operation and GNSS acquisition may not be assumed able to be simultaneously performed due to limited device capability. Therefore, if GNSS re-acquisition during RRC_CONNECTED mode is to be supported, a GNSS measurement gap can be allocated to ensure a UE and a BS have consensus on when the GNSS measurement is performed. Otherwise, the BS may waste resources to perform unnecessary scheduling when the UE is reacquiring GNSS. Moreover, the UE and the BS can also have consensus on whether UE successfully reacquire a GNSS position during a measurement gap. Otherwise, if the UE failed the GNSS acquisition but the BS think UE succeed, the BS may schedule transmissions when the UE is out-of-sync, which can waste resources and may cause interference.
[0065] The UE may report GNSS related information to the network after GNSS acquisition or after a GNSS measurement gap / timer. The GNSS related information may explicitly or implicitly indicate to the BS on whether GNSS acquisition is successful / completed or not. Following GNSS related information or signaling can be considered for success indication:
[0066] 1. An explicit dedicated signaling to indicate the success of GNSS acquisition. For example, if “1” is reported in the dedicated signaling, the network may think / determine that the UE successfully acquired a new GNSS position during the measurement gap. If “0” is reported, the network may think / determine that the UE failed to acquire a new GNSS position during the measurement gap. The report may be indicated through a media access control control element (MAC CE) or radio resource control (RRC) signaling.
[0067] 2. The success of GNSS acquisition can be implicitly indicated by report of new GNSS validity duration. After GNSS acquisition, the UE may report validity duration associated with GNSS information, which may indicate during which time the GNSS position can be used for pre-compensation. When a new GNSS validity duration is reported, it may implicitly indicate that the GNSS acquisition is successful.
[0068] 3. The success of GNSS acquisition can be implicitly indicated by any successful UL transmission. To save resource and power consumption, the GNSS acquisition can be performed only when previous GNSS information cannot maintain UL synchronization. If the UE fails the GNSS acquisition, it can be expected / determined that the UE may lose UL synchronization and cannot perform a UL transmission. Therefore, if a UL transmission is successfully received by the network, it may implicitly indicate that the UE successfully acquired a new GNSS position.
[0069] When the UE performs a UL transmission, there can be corresponding resources. For a physical random access channel (PRACH) and scheduling request (SR) transmission, the network may configure periodic resources. The UE can wait and perform a UL transmission in configured RACH occasion or SR resource after GNSS acquisition. While for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission, the network can either schedule the resources using dynamic grant (e.g., via downlink control information (DCI) or random access response (RAR) , or using pre-configured resources (e.g., semi persistent scheduling (SPS) or other newly introduced RRC / MAC CE signaling) . If solution 1 or 2 is used, the report of GNSS related information may be event triggered. Then a more complicated procedure may be needed. For example, the UE can trigger the report and send PRACH / SR to request UL grant, then the network may schedule UL grant, then the UE may report the information (e.g., GNSS validity duration or success indication) based on the UL grant. If the UL transmission has failed, a retransmission may be performed. When the information is successfully reported to the network (e.g., UE receive an ACK or an indication of new transmission) , a success indication can be thought / considered completed. From above, it can be observed that the trigger conditions and procedures of UL transmission can be different when different solutions of success indication are applied.
[0070] At least one of following examples can be considered to let a UE and a BS achieve consensus on whether a GNSS acquisition is successful:
[0071] Example 1:
[0072] The network may transmit a UL grant to the UE (e.g., after GNSS measurement gap / timer) , and the UE may report GNSS related information to the network using the resources configured by the UL grant. The network may transmit the UL grant after the end of a GNSS measurement gap / timer. The procedure is as shown in FIG. 4. FIG. 4 illustrates an example global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information report, in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Note that the GNSS measurement gap / timer may start before the expiration of validity duration of old GNSS.
[0073] To avoid the UE waiting for UL grant indefinitely, some restriction on the UL grant transmission may be needed. For example,
[0074] ● The network may transmit the UL grant to the UE before the end of a first time window.
[0075] ● The UE may monitor the UL grant before the end of a first time window.
[0076] The first time window (e.g., time window D1) may start from the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer or simultaneously with the GNSS measurement gap / timer. The duration of first time window may be predefined in standard or configured by the network. If no UL grant is transmitted by the network or received by the UE, the GNSS acquisition may be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger a radio link failure (RLF) or go to IDLE mode at the end of first time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) .
[0077] On the other hand, to avoid the network indefinitely waiting for UE report, some restriction on UE report of GNSS related information may be needed. For example,
[0078] ● The UE may report the GNSS related information in the resource configured by the first UL grant after a GNSS measurement gap / time. If the UE does not report or the network does not receive GNSS related information in the resource configured by the first UL grant after GNSS measurement gap / time, the GNSS acquisition may be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0079] ○ at the end of resource configured by the first UL grant after GNSS measurement gap / time (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) ,
[0080] ○ at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying untoggled NDI, or a NACK) .
[0081] ● The UE can report the GNSS related information before the end of a second time window. The second time window (e.g., time window D2) may start from the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer or simultaneously with the GNSS measurement gap / timer. The duration of time window may be predefined in standard or configured by the network. The second time window D2 may be same as the first time window D1 or longer than the first time window D1. For the configuration of the second time window D2, the network may indicate the duration difference (e.g., delta value) between D2 and D1. If the UE does not report or the network does not receive GNSS related information before the end of the second time window, the GNSS acquisition may be thought failed. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to IDLE mode at the end of the second time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) .
[0082] It is possible that second time window is applied while first time window is not applied. The restriction of GNSS related information report may also restrict when the UL grant can be transmitted / received / monitored.
[0083] FIG. 4 illustrates an example global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information report, in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Based on above procedures, the UE may behavior after a GNSS acquisition can be defined. The UE may monitor the PDCCH before the end of a first time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is successful) . The UE may report GNSS related information:
[0084] ● in the resource configured by the first UL grant.
[0085] ● before the end of a second time window (e.g., D2) .
[0086] The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0087] ● at the end of the first time window (e.g., when UL grant is not received before then end of first time window) .
[0088] ● at the end of the second time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported before then end of second time window) .
[0089] ● at the end of resource configured by the first UL grant after GNSS measurement gap / time (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported in the configured resource) .
[0090] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource configured by the first UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying untoggled NDI, or a NACK) .
[0091] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource configured by the first UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0092] When GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer has failed, procedures can also be defined. For example, the UE may consider at least one of following procedures for GNSS related information report:
[0093] ● The UE may not monitor the PDCCH before the end of a first time window or after the gap / timer (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0094] ● The UE may not report GNSS related information in the resource configured by the first UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0095] ● The UE may not report GNSS related information before the end of a second time window or after the gap / timer (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0096] ● The UE may report GNSS related information, which may indicate the failure of GNSS acquisition (e.g., remaining GNSS validity duration of current / old / previous GNSS information, or indication of failure of GNSS acquisition) , in the resource configured by the first UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0097] ● The UE may report GNSS related information, which may indicate the failure of GNSS acquisition (e.g., remaining GNSS validity duration of current / old / previous GNSS information, or indication of failure of GNSS acquisition) , before the end of a second time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0098] The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0099] ● at the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0100] ● at the end of the first time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0101] ● at the end of the second time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0102] ● at the end of resource configured by the first UL grant after GNSS measurement gap / time (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0103] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource configured by the first UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0104] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource configured by the first UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying untoggled NDI, or a NACK) .
[0105] ● at the end of old / previous / current GNSS validity duration (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) . For example, a GNSS measurement may be triggered early, so that the GNSS measurement gap / timer and / or first / second time window may end before the expiration of old GNSS validity duration. In this case, UE may trigger RLF or go to IDLE mode at end of GNSS validity duration if GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed or GNSS related information not reported.
[0106] The network may blind schedule a UL transmission after GNSS measurement gap. The UE may report GNSS validity duration or success signaling based on the schedule. The present disclosure introduces a timing restriction of monitoring PDCCH and timing restriction of a UL transmission. If the timing restriction not satisfied, it may indicate that GNSS failed.
[0107] Example 2:
[0108] The network may configure a UL grant in advance (e.g., before GNSS measurement gap / timer) , and the UE may report GNSS related information to the network using the resources configured by the UL grant. The case of configuring a semi-static UL grant is as shown in FIG. 5. The UL grant may be configured via at least one of a RRC signaling (e.g., SPS configuration) , a MAC CE signaling, or a DCI (e.g., a dynamic grant indicated before GNSS measurement gap / timer but resource is after GNSS measurement gap / timer) . The UL grant may be semi-statically configured via a RRC signaling or a MAC CE signaling. The configuration / resource may be activated / deactivated / released via a DCI or a MAC CE. The UL grant may allocate UL resources after one or each GNSS measurement gap / timer. For example, the UL grant may indicate:
[0109] ● an offset with respect to start / end of one or each GNSS measurement gap / timer.
[0110] ● periodic UL resources (e.g., indicate at least one of start time, offset, periodicity) .
[0111] The periodicity may be determined by a GNSS validity duration or up to network configuration. The UE can report the GNSS related information in the resource configured by the UL grant. If UE does not report or network does not receive GNSS related information in a UL resource configured by the UL grant after GNSS measurement gap / time, the GNSS acquisition may be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0112] ● at the end of the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) .
[0113] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled new data indicator (NDI) , or a ACK / NACK) .
[0114] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0115] FIG. 5 illustrates an example global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information report with semi-static UL grant, in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Based on above procedures, the UE may behavior after GNSS acquisition can be defined. The UE may report GNSS related information in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is successful) . The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0116] ● at the end of resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported in the configured resource) .
[0117] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0118] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0119] When GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed, procedures can also be defined. For example, the UE may consider at least one of following procedures for GNSS related information report:
[0120] ● The UE may not report GNSS related information in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0121] ● The UE may report GNSS related information, which may indicate the failure of GNSS acquisition (e.g., remaining GNSS validity duration of current / old / previous GNSS information, or indication of failure of GNSS acquisition) , in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0122] The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0123] ● at the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0124] ● at the end of resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0125] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0126] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0127] ● at the end of old / previous / current GNSS validity duration (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) . For example, a GNSS measurement may be triggered early, so that the GNSS measurement gap / timer and / or resource for GNSS related information report may end before the expiration of old GNSS validity duration. In such case, the UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode at end of GNSS validity duration if GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed or GNSS related information not reported.
[0128] The network may pre-allocate a UL grant for UE report. The UE may report GNSS related information in the pre-allocated resource. For an eMTC, the pre-allocation may be configured using a SPS signaling. For an eMTC / NB-IoT, a dynamic allocation of UL grant may be indicated before GNSS measurement gap, while the configured resources are after the GNSS measurement gap. For an eMTC / NB-IoT, new mechanism may be introduced. For example, the network may semi-persistently configure a UL resource after each measurement gap via RRC / MAC CE signaling. The configuration may include a start time, an offset to gap, a time, and / or a frequency resource. The present disclosure provides a method to pre-allocate a UL grant for reporting after a GNSS acquisition.
[0129] Example 3:
[0130] The UE may transmit a PRACH or SR to the network. The network may transmit a UL grant to the UE. The UE may report GNSS related information to the network using the resources configured by the UL grant. After GNSS acquisition, the UE may trigger a GNSS related information report. The UE may transmit a PRACH or SR to request the UL grant. For example,
[0131] ● the UE may transmit a PRACH in a RO (e.g., the first RO) after GNSS acquisition or GNSS measurement gap / timer.
[0132] ● the UE may transmit a SR in a SR resource (e.g., the first SR resource) or a NPRACH resource for SR (e.g., the first narrowband PRACH (NPRACH) resource for SR) after GNSS acquisition or GNSS measurement gap / timer.
[0133] After receiving the PRACH or SR, the network may start to allocate UL grant or schedule UL transmission to UE for the report. Then the UE may report GNSS related information based on the allocated UL grant. If the report is failed, the UE and the network may think / determine that the GNSS acquisition is failed. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE. The above procedures may correspond to different types of mechanisms. For example,
[0134] ● the UE may send SR via configured SR resource or NPRACH resource for SR to network. The network may allocate UL grant in DCI after receiving the SR. Then the UE may report using the allocated UL grant. The procedure is as shown in FIG. 6. Note that the GNSS measurement gap / timer may start before the expiration of validity duration of old GNSS.
[0135] ● the UE may send (N) PRACH to network using preamble / resource allocated for EDT (e.g., early data transmission) . The network may allocate UL grant (e.g., in RAR) after receiving the (N) PRACH. Then the UE may report (e.g., in msg3 (N) PUSCH) using the allocated UL grant. The procedure is as shown in FIG. 7. Note that the GNSS measurement gap / timer may start before the expiration of validity duration of old GNSS.
[0136] The network may schedule UL / DL transmission after receiving the SR / PRACH / msg3 before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer. The UE may monitor DCI / RAR / PDCCH / PDSCH after transmitting the SR / PRACH / msg3 before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer. A GNSS measurement gap / timer may be terminated when SR / PRACH / msg3 is sent / received with or without an offset (e.g., RTT, TA, Koffset, Kmac) . To avoid the network waiting for UE report indefinitely, some restrictions on the UE behavior may be needed. For example,
[0137] ● the UE may need to send PRACH / SR before the end of a third time window. The third time window may start from the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer or simultaneously with the GNSS measurement gap / timer. The duration of third time window may be predefined in standard or configured by network via at least one of: a RRC signaling, a MAC CE signaling, or a DCI signaling. If no PRACH / SR is sent before the end of the third time window, the GNSS acquisition can be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger RLF or go to IDLE mode at the end of the third time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) .
[0138] ● The UE may need to send PRACH / SR within a number of ROs / SR resources / NPRACH resources for SR after GNSS acquisition or GNSS measurement gap / timer. The number of ROs / SR resources may be predefined in standard or configured by network via at least one of: a RRC signaling, a MAC CE signaling, or a DCI signaling. If no PRACH / SR is sent within the number of ROs / SR resources, the GNSS acquisition can be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode at the end of last RO / SR resource / NPRACH resource for SR (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) .
[0139] ● The UE may need to report the GNSS related information before the end of a second time window. The second time window is as defined in example 1. If the UE does not report or network does not receive GNSS related information before the end of the second time window, the GNSS acquisition may be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode at the end of the second time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) . It is possible that second time window is applied while third time window is not applied. The restriction of GNSS related information report may also restrict when the PRACH / SR can be sent.
[0140] Moreover, to avoid the UE indefinitely waiting UL grant from network, the enhancement for example 1 (e.g., the first time window) can also be applied here. For example,
[0141] ● the network may transmit the UL grant to UE before the end of a first time window.
[0142] ● the UE may monitor the UL grant before the end of a first time window.
[0143] If no UL grant is transmitted by network or received by UE, the GNSS acquisition may be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode at the end of first time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) . It is possible that second time window is applied while first time window is not applied. The restriction of GNSS related information report may also restrict when the UL grant can be transmitted / received / monitored.
[0144] FIG. 6 illustrates an example global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information report with scheduling request (SR) , in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. FIG. 7 illustrates an example global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information report with early data transmission (EDT) , in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Based on above procedures, the UE may behavior after GNSS acquisition can be defined. The UE may send a PRACH (in random access channel occasion (RO) ) or a SR (in SR resource or NPRACH resource for SR) after GNSS acquisition or after GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is successful) . For example, when there is available RO or SR resource or NPRACH resource for SR after GNSS acquisition but before the end of GNSS measurement gap / timer, the UE may send PRACH or SR after GNSS acquisition but before the end of a GNSS measurement gap / timer. Then, the UE may monitor a UL grant from the network. For example,
[0145] ● the UE may start monitoring UL grant from the end of RO / SR resource / NPRACH resource for SR used for sending the PRACH / SR with / without an offset (e.g., RTT, TA, Koffset, Kmac) .
[0146] ● the UE may start monitoring UL grant from the end of GNSS measurement timer / gap with / without an offset (e.g., RTT, TA, Koffset, Kmac) .
[0147] The UE may report GNSS related information in the resource configured by the UL grant. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0148] ● at the end of the third time window (e.g., when no PRACH / SR is sent before then end of third time window) ;
[0149] ● at the end of last RO / SR resource / NPRACH resource for SR used for sending the PRACH / SR (e.g., when no PRACH / SR is sent within ROs / SR resources / NPRACH resources for SR) ;
[0150] ● at the end of the first time window (e.g., when no UL grant is received before then end of first time window) ;
[0151] ● at the end of the second time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported before the end of second time window) ;
[0152] ● at the end of resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported in the configured resource) ;
[0153] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource used for GNSS related information report (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) ; or
[0154] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource used for GNSS related information report (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0155] When GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed, procedures can also be defined. For example, the UE may consider at least one of following procedures for GNSS related information report:
[0156] ● the UE may not send PRACH / SR in the ROs / SR resources / NPRACH resources for SR after the GNSS measurement gap / timer;
[0157] ● the UE may send PRACH / SR in the ROs / SR resources / NPRACH resources for SR after the GNSS measurement gap / timer. The UE may report GNSS related information, which may indicate the failure of GNSS acquisition (e.g., remaining GNSS validity duration of current / old / previous GNSS information, or indication of failure of GNSS acquisition) , in the resource configured by the UL grant.
[0158] The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0159] ● at the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0160] ● at the end of the first time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0161] ● at the end of the second time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0162] ● at the end of the third time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0163] ● at the end of resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0164] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) ;
[0165] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) ; or
[0166] ● at the end of old / previous / current GNSS validity duration (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) . For example, a GNSS measurement may be triggered early, so that the GNSS measurement gap / timer and / or first / second / third time window may end before the expiration of old GNSS validity duration. In such case, the UE may trigger RLF or go to IDLE mode at end of GNSS validity duration if GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed or GNSS related information not reported.
[0167] The UE may send a PRACH or SR to trigger a UL transmission. The network may allocate a UL grant after receiving the PRACH (EDT) or SR. Then the UE may report using the configured resource. The PRACH or SR may be sent after the UE reacquiring GNSS but before end of measurement gap, if the UE quickly finish the GNSS acquisition. The present disclosure introduces restrictions on success indication, similar to example 1, but more details considering additional procedures of sending PRACH / SR.
[0168] Example 4:
[0169] The UE may initiate a random access procedure to request a UL grant and the UE may report GNSS related information to the network using the resources configured by the UL grant. After GNSS acquisition, the UE may trigger a GNSS related information report. The UE may request UL resource by initiating random access procedure. The network may schedule UL / DL transmission after receiving the PRACH / msg3 / GNSS related information before the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer. The UE may monitor DCI / RAR / PDCCH / PDSCH after transmitting the PRACH / msg3 / GNSS related information before the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer. GNSS measurement gap / timer may be terminated when PRACH / msg3 / GNSS related information is sent / received with or without an offset (e.g., RTT, TA, Koffset, Kmac) . Different from example 3, the UE may send normal msg3 after receiving the RAR grant. After sending msg3, the UE may monitor UL grant for GNSS related information report. The UL grant for report can be obtained in fourth step at the earliest. While in example 3, the UE may be able to obtain UL grant in second step. But the benefit of this solution is that dedicate configuration for SR or EDT may not be needed. The procedure is as shown in FIG. 8. Note that the GNSS measurement gap / timer may start before the expiration of validity duration of old GNSS.
[0170] To avoid network waiting for UE report indefinitely, some restrictions on the UE behavior may be needed. For example,
[0171] ● the UE may need to send PRACH / msg3 before the end of a third time window. The third time window is as defined in example 3. If no PRACH / msg3 is sent by the UE before the end of the third time window, the GNSS acquisition can be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger RLF or go to IDLE mode at the end of the third time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) .
[0172] ● the UE may need to send PRACH / msg3 within a number of ROs after a GNSS acquisition / GNSS measurement gap / timer. The number of ROs may be predefined in standard or configured by network via at least one of: a RRC signaling, a MAC CE signaling, or a DCI signaling. If no PRACH / msg3 is sent within the number of ROs, the GNSS acquisition can be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode at the end of last RO (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) .
[0173] ● the UE may need to report the GNSS related information before the end of a second time window. The second time window is as defined in example 1. If the UE does not report or network does not receive GNSS related information before the end of the second time window, the GNSS acquisition may be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode at the end of the time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) . It is possible that second time window is applied while third time window is not applied. The restriction of GNSS related information report may also restrict when the PRACH / SR can be sent.
[0174] Moreover, to avoid the UE infinitely waiting UL grant from network, the enhancement for example 1 (e.g., the first time window) can also be applied for the UL grant used for GNSS related information report. For example,
[0175] ● the network may transmit a UL grant after receiving msg3 to UE before the end of a first time window;
[0176] ● the UE may monitor the UL grant after sending msg3 with / without an offset (e.g., RTT, TA, Koffset, Kmac) before the end of a first time window.
[0177] If no UL grant is transmitted by network or received by the UE, the GNSS acquisition may be thought failed. The UE may trigger an RLF or go to an IDLE mode at the end of first time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) . It is possible that second time window is applied while first time window is not applied. The restriction of GNSS related information report may also restrict when the UL grant can be transmitted / received / monitored.
[0178] FIG. 8 illustrates an example global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information report, in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Based on above procedures, the UE may behavior after GNSS acquisition can be defined. The UE may send a PRACH in RO after GNSS acquisition or after a GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is successful) . For example, when there is available RO after GNSS acquisition but before the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer, the UE may send PRACH after GNSS acquisition but before then end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer. After msg3 is transmitted, the UE may monitor UL grant from the network. After receiving the UL grant, the UE may report GNSS related information in the resource configured by the UL grant. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0179] ● at the end of the third time window (e.g., when no PRACH is sent before then end of third time window) ;
[0180] ● at the end of last RO used for sending the PRACH (e.g., when no PRACH is sent within ROs) ;
[0181] ● at the end of the first time window (e.g., when no UL grant is received before then end of first time window) ;
[0182] ● at the end of the second time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported before the end of second time window) ;
[0183] ● at the end of resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported in the configured resource) ;
[0184] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) ; or
[0185] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0186] When GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed, procedures can also be defined. For example, the UE may consider at least one of following procedures for GNSS related information report:
[0187] ● the UE may not initiate random access procedure after the GNSS acquisition or GNSS measurement gap / timer;
[0188] ● the UE may initiate random access procedure after the GNSS acquisition or GNSS measurement gap / timer. The UE may report GNSS related information, which may indicate the failure of GNSS acquisition (e.g., remaining GNSS validity duration of current / old / previous GNSS information, or indication of failure of GNSS acquisition) , in the resource configured by the UL grant.
[0189] The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0190] ● at the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0191] ● at the end of the first time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0192] ● at the end of the second time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0193] ● at the end of the third time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0194] ● at the end of resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0195] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) ;
[0196] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) ;
[0197] ● at the end of old / previous / current GNSS validity duration (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) . For example, a GNSS measurement may be triggered early, so that the GNSS measurement gap / timer and / or first / second / third time window may end before the expiration of old GNSS validity duration. In such case, the UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode at end of the GNSS validity duration if GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed or GNSS related information not reported.
[0198] The UE may initiate a random access procedure to request a UL resource for report. Similar to example 3 but complete msg3 transmission is needed before getting a UL grant.
[0199] Example 5:
[0200] The UE may trigger the report of GNSS related information after a GNSS acquisition or GNSS measurement gap / timer. But the UE may not send PRACH / SR according to the trigger of report. If UE has UL resources allocated for new transmission and the allocated UL resources can accommodate the report of GNSS related information, the UE may then report GNSS related information via the UL resources. The UL resources may be blindly scheduled by the network, or scheduled for other UL transmission. The procedure is as shown in FIG. 9. Note that the GNSS measurement gap / timer may start before the expiration of validity duration of old GNSS.
[0201] To avoid the UE indefinitely waiting UL grant from network and avoid network infinitely waiting UE report, the enhancement for example 1 (e.g., the first time window and second time window) can also be applied here. The potential difference is that the start of the first / second time window may be either the end of the GNSS acquisition or the end of GNSS measurement gap / timer. For example,
[0202] ● The network may transmit the UL grant to UE before the end of a first time window. The UE may monitor the UL grant before the end of a first time window. The first time window may start from the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer, or start simultaneously with the GNSS measurement gap / timer, or start from the end of GNSS acquisition. The duration of first time window may be predefined in standard or configured by network. If no UL grant is transmitted by network or received by UE, the GNSS acquisition may be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode at the end of first time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) .
[0203] ● The UE can report the GNSS related information in the resource configured by the first UL grant after a GNSS measurement gap / time or after a GNSS acquisition. If the UE does not report or network does not receive GNSS related information in the resource configured by the first UL grant after the GNSS measurement gap / time or after the GNSS acquisition, the GNSS acquisition may be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger RLF or go to IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0204] ○ at the end of resource configured by the first UL grant after GNSS measurement gap / time or after GNSS acquisition (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) ; or
[0205] ○ at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying untoggled NDI, or a NACK) .
[0206] ● The UE may report the GNSS related information before the end of a second time window. The second time window may start from the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer, or start simultaneously with the GNSS measurement gap / timer, or start from the end of GNSS acquisition. The duration of time window may be predefined in standard or configured by network. The second time window may be same as the first time window or longer than the first time window. For the configuration of the second time window, the network may indicate the duration difference (e.g., delta value) between the first and the second time windows. If the UE does not report or network does not receive GNSS related information before the end of the second time window, the GNSS acquisition may be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode at the end of the second time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) .
[0207] It is possible that second time window is applied while a first time window is not applied. The restriction of GNSS related information report may also restrict when the UL grant can be transmitted / received / monitored.
[0208] FIG. 9 illustrates an example global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information report, in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Based on above procedures, the UE may behavior after GNSS acquisition can be defined. The UE may trigger the GNSS related information report (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is successful) . The UE may monitor the PDCCH before the end of a first time window. The UE may report GNSS related information:
[0209] ● in the resource configured by the first UL grant.
[0210] ● before the end of a second time window.
[0211] The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0212] ● at the end of the first time window (e.g., when no UL grant is received before then end of first time window, or the UL resources cannot accommodate the GNSS related information report) ;
[0213] ● at the end of the second time window (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported before the end of second time window) ;
[0214] ● at the end of resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported in the configured resource) ;
[0215] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource used for GNSS related information report (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying untoggled NDI, or a NACK) ; or
[0216] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource used for GNSS related information report (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0217] When GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed, procedures can also be defined. For example, the UE may consider at least one of following procedures for GNSS related information report:
[0218] ● the UE may not monitor the PDCCH before the end of a first time window, or after GNSS acquisition, or after the GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0219] ● the UE may not report GNSS related information in the resource configured by the first UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0220] ● the UE may not report GNSS related information before the end of a second time window or after GNSS acquisition, or after the GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0221] ● the UE may report GNSS related information, which indicates the failure of GNSS acquisition (e.g., remaining GNSS validity duration of current / old / previous GNSS information, or indication of failure of GNSS acquisition) , in the resource configured by a UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed, or when UL resources can accommodate the GNSS related information report) ; or
[0222] ● the UE may report GNSS related information, which may indicate the failure of GNSS acquisition (e.g., remaining GNSS validity duration of current / old / previous GNSS information, or indication of failure of GNSS acquisition) , before the end of a second time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0223] The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0224] ● at the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0225] ● at the end of the first time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0226] ● at the end of the second time window (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0227] ● at the end of resource configured by the first UL grant after GNSS measurement gap / time or after GNSS acquisition (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0228] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource used for GNSS related information report (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0229] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource used for GNSS related information report (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying untoggled NDI, or a NACK) .
[0230] ● at the end of old / previous / current GNSS validity duration (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) . For example, a GNSS measurement may be triggered early, so that the GNSS measurement gap / timer and / or first / second time window may end before the expiration of old GNSS validity duration. In such case, the UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode at end of GNSS validity duration if GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed or GNSS related information not reported.
[0231] The UE may trigger the report, but may not send PRACH / SR to ask for a UL grant. The UE may wait until a grant (may be allocated for other UL transmission) and may report if it can be included.
[0232] Example 6:
[0233] The network may configure a UL grant in advance (e.g., before GNSS measurement gap / timer) , and the UE may report GNSS related information to the network using one of at least one resource configured by the UL grant. The at least one resource may be (N) PUSCH resource. The UL grant may be configured via at least one of: a RRC signaling (e.g., SPS configuration) , a MAC CE signaling, or a DCI signaling. The UL grant may allocate at least one UL resource after the start of one or each GNSS measurement gap / timer. The network may configure periodic UL resources (which can be irrelevant to the GNSS measurement gap / timer) . For example, the UL grant may indicate at least one of following:
[0234] ● an offset with respect to start of one or each GNSS measurement gap / timer;
[0235] ● the number of UL resources associated with one or each GNSS measurement gap / timer;
[0236] ● the number of UL resources configured by the UL grant;
[0237] ● the interval between UL resources configured by the UL grant; or
[0238] ● periodic UL resources (e.g., indicate at least one of start time, offset, periodicity) . The periodicity may be determined by GNSS validity duration or up to network configuration.
[0239] The UE may select one of the at least one resource configured by the UL grant to report GNSS related information. The case of configuring multiple resources for each GNSS measurement gap / timer is as shown in FIG. 10. The case of configuring periodic resources irrelevant to GNSS measurement gap / timer is as shown in FIG. 11. If the UE does not report or network does not receive GNSS related information in any UL resource configured by the UL grant for the GNSS measurement gap / timer, or until first UL resource configured by the UL grant after the GNSS measurement gap / time, the GNSS acquisition may be thought / considered failed. The UE may trigger RLF or go to IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0240] ● at the end of the last resource associated with the GNSS measurement gap / timer configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) ;
[0241] ● at the end of the first / Nth resource after GNSS measurement gap / timer configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported) ;
[0242] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) ; or
[0243] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0244] FIG. 10 illustrates an example global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information report of configuring multiple resources for each GNSS measurement gap / timer, in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. FIG. 11 illustrates an example global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information report of configuring periodic resources irrelevant to GNSS measurement gap / timer, in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Based on above procedures, the UE may behavior after a GNSS acquisition can be defined. The UE may report GNSS related information in one of the at least one resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., nearest (N) PUSCH resource after GNSS acquisition finished) . The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0245] ● at the end of the last resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported until this time) ;
[0246] ● at the end of the first / Nth resource after GNSS measurement gap / timer configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS related information is not reported until this time) ;
[0247] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) ;
[0248] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) .
[0249] When a GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed, procedures can also be defined. For example, the UE may consider at least one of following procedures for GNSS related information report:
[0250] ● the UE may not report GNSS related information in any resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0251] ● the UE may report GNSS related information, which indicates the failure of GNSS acquisition (e.g., remaining GNSS validity duration of current / old / previous GNSS information, or indication of failure of GNSS acquisition) , in one of the at least one resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) .
[0252] The UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode based on at least one of following timings:
[0253] ● at the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0254] ● at the end of the last resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0255] ● at the end of the first / Nth resource after GNSS measurement gap / timer configured by the UL grant (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) ;
[0256] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) ;
[0257] ● at the end of a message indicating the feedback of last retransmission of UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant (e.g., a retransmission scheduling, a DCI carrying toggled / untoggled NDI, or a ACK / NACK) ; or
[0258] ● at the end of old / previous / current GNSS validity duration (e.g., when GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed) . For example, a GNSS measurement may be triggered early, so that the GNSS measurement gap / timer and / or resource for GNSS related information report may end before the expiration of old GNSS validity duration. In this case, the UE may trigger a RLF or go to an IDLE mode at end of GNSS validity duration if GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed or GNSS related information not reported.
[0259] The network pre-allocate UL grant for UE report. Different from example 2 where resource is after GNSS measurement gap, multiple (N) PUSCH resources can be configured during GNSS measurement gap. The UE may report GNSS related information in a (N) PUSCH after GNSS acquisition instead of after GNSS measurement gap, so that early termination is possible.
[0260] For above examples, the UL grant may be indicated via at least one of a DCI (dynamic grant) , a PDCCH, a RAR (dynamic grant) , a RRC signaling (pre-allocated grant) , a MAC CE signaling (pre-allocated grant) , or a PDSCH. There may be two types of UL grant:
[0261] ● Semi-static UL grant. The network may semi-statically configure a UL grant for UL transmission, which may avoid additional dynamic scheduling for each UL transmission, for example, semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) , configured grant (CG, which may include CG type 1 or CG type 2) . The semi-static UL grant may be configured via a RRC signaling (e.g. SPS or CG type 1) , or semi-statically configured by a RRC signaling and activated / deactivated / released by a DCI (e.g., CG type 2) . The MAC CE may also be applied in semi-static configuration or activation / deactivation / release of a semi-static configuration.
[0262] ● Dynamic UL grant. The network may schedule each UL transmission by a DCI or RAR.
[0263] The GNSS related information may include at least one of: a GNSS validity duration, a dedicated signaling indicating whether GNSS acquisition is successful, or a GNSS position fix time. For GNSS validity duration report, whole GNSS validity duration or remaining GNSS validity duration (after the reporting message, or after the GNSS measurement gap / timer) can be reported.
[0264] Note that for above examples, the UE may be allocated with contention-free random access (CFRA) resource (e.g., preamble) . If the UE is not allocated with CFRA resource, the UE may send / transmit contention-based random access (CBRA) preamble in RO for UL grant in above examples. In this case, the UE may not able to obtain UL grant in time due to failure in the contention. If the UE is allocated with CFRA resource, the contention can be avoided, which allow UE to obtain UL grant in time. However, when the UE is allocated with CFRA resource or dedicated SR resource, the network may need to monitor CFRA resource in every RO or every dedicated SR resource if UE is allowed to send PRACH / SR during GNSS measurement gap (e.g., in example 3 or 4) . There may be some waste since UE may not send PRACH or SR before finishing GNSS acquisition but network can always monitor. A signaling may be configured by the network to indicate whether CFRA or SR is allowed to be transmitted within GNSS measurement gap or whether early termination of GNSS acquisition is allowed (e.g., an enabling / disabling signaling for early termination) . The signaling may be configured via at least one of a DCI, PDCCH, RRC signaling, MAC CE signaling, PDSCH. If the network configures the UE not to send CFRA or SR within GNSS measurement gap, the network can avoid to monitor the CFRA resource in the RO during the GNSS measurement gap or SR resource during the GNSS measurement gap, which saves complexity. If the network configure to allow the UE to send CFRA or SR within GNSS measurement gap, the network need to always monitor the CFRA resource in the RO during the GNSS measurement gap or SR resource during the GNSS measurement gap, which increases network complexity but early termination of GNSS acquisition before end of GNSS measurement gap can be possible.
[0265] Moreover, for above examples, when a long GNSS measurement gap / timer is configured, multiple ROs / SR resources / (N) PUSCH resources may be configured within the GNSS measurement gap / timer. In such case, which RO / SR resource / (N) PUSCH resource should be selected for UL transmission may need to be considered. In order to report GNSS related information as soon as possible (which may reduce latency, save resource) , the nearest RO / SR resource after finishing GNSS acquisition can be selected to send PRACH / SR for UL grant; or the nearest (N)PUSCH resource after finishing GNSS acquisition can be selected to report GNSS related information (e.g., select nearest UL resource after finishing GNSS acquisition, to reduce latency) . For selection of nearest RO / SR resource / (N) PUSCH resource, the TA may be considered. For example, if RO / SR resource / (N) PUSCH resource is defined based on DL timing or timing at UL time synchronization reference point, the UE can select nearest RO / SR resource / (N) PUSCH resource after an offset of TA after finishing GNSS acquisition.
[0266] And for above examples, the UE may use at least one timer to express the duration of the first, second, or third time window. For example, the end of first time window may be the expiring time of a first timer. The end of second time window may be the expiring time of a second timer. The end of third time window may be the expiring time of a third timer.
[0267] The UE may start / restart GNSS validity timer / duration when GNSS acquisition is finished / succeeded.
[0268] In some embodiments or above examples, the UE can keep in CONNECTED mode (not go IDLE or trigger RLF) before end of old / previous / current GNSS validity duration even if GNSS acquisition within a GNSS measurement gap / timer is failed.
[0269] In this case, for example, additional GNSS measurement gap / timer may be triggered (e.g., by network) after GNSS acquisition failure and before end of old / previous / current GNSS validity duration. Or GNSS measurement gap / timer may be triggered (e.g., by UE) at the end of old / previous / current GNSS validity duration. For GNSS measurement gap / timer triggering after GNSS acquisition failure and before end of old / previous / current GNSS validity duration, following details may be considered:
[0270] ● In above examples, the timing restrictions are introduced for GNSS related information report for the GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., the first / second / third time window) , ROs, and SR resources. When GNSS measurement gap / timer triggered after GNSS acquisition failure,
[0271] ○ the timing restrictions may be reset. The first / second / third time window may be shifted / reset according to the newly triggered GNSS measurement gap / timer. The ROs or SR resources (which is used by UE to request UL grant) may be shifted / reset according to the newly triggered GNSS measurement gap / timer.
[0272] ○ the timing restrictions may not be changed. For example, the timing restrictions associated with the GNSS measurement gap / timer for the failed GNSS acquisition can be applied for the following triggered GNSS measurement gap / timer. The first / second / third time window may not be shifted / reset for newly triggered GNSS measurement gap / timer. The ROs or SR resources (which is used by UE to request UL grant) may not be shifted / reset for newly triggered GNSS measurement gap / timer.
[0273] ● When GNSS acquisition failed, the UE may indicate the failure of GNSS acquisition to network (e.g., report remaining GNSS validity duration of current / old / previous GNSS information, or report a signaling of GNSS acquisition failure) . This can optionally be used as assistance information to inform network whether to trigger new GNSS measurement gap / timer. The report of failure of GNSS acquisition can also be GNSS related information report.
[0274] ● The network may re-trigger new GNSS measurement gap / timer based on at least one of following conditions:
[0275] ○ Receive the failure indication of GNSS acquisition.
[0276] ○ Not receive GNSS related information until the end of first / second time window, or in the resource configured by UL grant.
[0277] ○ Not receive SR until the end of third time window, or within a number of SR resources.
[0278] ○ Not receive PRACH (CFRA or CBRA) until the end of third time window, or within a number of ROs.
[0279] In another example, if the UE receives timing advance (TA) command before the end of old / previous / current GNSS validity duration, at least one of followings may be considered:
[0280] ● the old / previous / current validity duration may be extended (e.g., with a value configured by network or pre-specified) .
[0281] ● a timer may be defined, which starts from the end of old / previous / current validity duration or from the time when TA command is received, and the length is configured by network or pre-specified. Before the end of the timer, the UE can keep in CONNECTED mode. Additional GNSS measurement gap / timer may be triggered (e.g., by network) after GNSS measurement failure before end of the timer. Or GNSS measurement gap / timer may be triggered (e.g., by UE) at the end of the timer.
[0282] Implementation Example 2: Early termination of GNSS acquisition (e.g., completion of GNSS acquisition prior to end of measurement gap)
[0283] As introduced in example-3 of implementation example-1, it is possible that the UE may successfully reacquire GNSS before the end of GNSS measurement gap. For example, the UE may initially access to the network with bad channel condition and the UE may report a long GNSS position at fix time. The network can configure a large GNSS measurement gap according to the UE report. But after a period of time, the UE may stay at a place with good channel condition. In this case, the UE may complete / terminate the GNSS acquisition before the end of GNSS measurement gap. Generally, since the GNSS measurement gap / timer is allocated for the UE GNSS acquisition and the network does not know when the acquisition is finished, the network can avoid scheduling transmission within the measurement gap / timer, which may save the resource. However, if the UE can successfully reacquire the GNSS acquisition before the end of GNSS measurement gap / timer, refraining UL / DL scheduling / transmission in the whole measurement gap / timer may lead to reduced throughput at UE side. Hence, the mechanism of early termination of GNSS measurement may need to be investigated. An example of early termination of GNSS acquisition is as shown in FIG. 12. Note that the GNSS measurement gap / timer may start before the expiration of validity duration of old GNSS.
[0284] FIG. 12 illustrates an example global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information report for early termination of GNSS acquisition, in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In order to enable early termination of GNSS acquisition (e.g., allow a UL / DL scheduling / transmission before the end of GNSS measurement gap / timer) , certain enhancement may be needed. For example, following solutions may be considered:
[0285] 1. The UE may send PRACH (e.g., contention based PRACH) in a RO after GNSS acquisition. The RO may not be necessarily after the end of GNSS measurement gap / timer. The network may be informed that UE has switched back to cellular operation by receiving the msg3 (which may include C-RNTI of the UE) . The network can start to schedule UL / DL transmission for the UE after receiving msg3. Then the network can allocate UL grant to UE for GNSS related information report. The GNSS related information may indicate whether the GNSS position fix is successful. The procedure is as shown in example 4 in embodiment-1.
[0286] 2. The UE may send PRACH in a RO after GNSS acquisition using preamble / resource allocated for EDT. The RO may not be necessarily after the end of GNSS measurement gap / timer. The network may allocate UL grant for EDT in RAR. The UE may report GNSS related information in the UL grant for EDT. After receiving msg3 (which may include both C-RNTI and GNSS related information of UE) , the network may be indicated whether GNSS position fix is successful. The procedure is as shown in example 3 in embodiment-1.
[0287] 3. The UE may send a SR via a configured SR resource or NPRACH resource for SR after GNSS acquisition. The SR resource or NPRACH resource for SR may not be necessarily after the end of GNSS measurement gap / timer. The network may be informed that the UE has switched back to cellular operation by receiving the SR. The network can allocate UL grant to UE for GNSS related information report after receiving the SR. The GNSS related information may indicate whether the GNSS position fix is successful. The procedure is as shown in example 3 in embodiment-1.
[0288] 4. The network may continuously or periodically allocate UL grant / schedule UL transmission within the GNSS measurement gap / timer. The UE may monitor UL grant after GNSS acquisition. After receiving UL grant, the UE may report GNSS related information via resources configured by the UL grant.
[0289] For above solutions, the network may schedule UL / DL transmission after receiving the PRACH / SR / msg3 / GNSS related information before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer. The UE may monitor DCI / RAR / PDCCH / PDSCH after transmitting the PRACH / SR / msg3 / GNSS related information before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer. The GNSS measurement gap / timer may be terminated when PRACH / SR / msg3 / GNSS related information is sent / received with or without an offset (e.g., RTT, TA, Koffset, Kmac) . Note that for solution 1, 2, and 3, although UE can start to transmit some signal before the end of GNSS measurement gap / timer, the latency of GNSS related information report may not always be shorter than waiting for a UL grant after GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., example 1, 2, and 5 in embodiment-1) . The reason is that additional procedures can be needed before allocating UL grant in solution 1, 2, and 3 (e.g., sending of PRACH / SR and receiving of RAR grant) , which can increase the latency due to waiting time for RO / SR resource and additional repetition transmission of PRACH / SR / RAR. Therefore, the solutions for GNSS related information report with early termination of GNSS measurement (e.g., solutions 1-4 above) may be combined with solutions for GNSS related information report after GNSS measurement gap / timer (e.g., examples in embodiment-1) . For example,
[0290] 1. The UE may apply the solution 1 for early termination after GNSS acquisition if there is available RO before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer. It is possible that the GNSS measurement gap / timer ends before UE transmit the msg3. With this consideration, the UE may able to obtain a UL grant before finishing the random access procedure. Hence, the methods in example 1, 2, 5 in embodiment-1 may be applied after GNSS measurement gap / timer. The UE may start to monitor UL grant after GNSS measurement gap / timer. The UE report GNSS related information in resources configured by a UL grant (e.g., example 1, 2, 5 in embodiment-1) before msg3 transmission.
[0291] 2. The UE may apply the solution 2 for early termination after GNSS acquisition if there is available RO before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer. It is possible that the GNSS measurement gap / timer ends before receiving RAR. Hence, the methods in example 1, 2, 5 in embodiment-1 may be applied after GNSS measurement gap / timer. The UE may start to monitor UL grant after GNSS measurement gap / timer. The UE may report GNSS related information in resources configured by a UL grant (e.g., example 1, 2, 5 in embodiment-1) before receiving the UL grant for EDT.
[0292] 3. The UE may apply the solution 3 for early termination after GNSS acquisition if there is available SR resource before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer. It is possible that the GNSS measurement gap / timer ends before receiving UL grant in response to SR. Hence, the methods in example 1, 2, 5 in embodiment-1 may be applied after GNSS measurement gap / timer. The UE may start to monitor UL grant after GNSS measurement gap / timer. The UE may report GNSS related information in resources configured by a UL grant (e.g., example 1, 2, 5 in embodiment-1) before receiving the UL grant in response to SR.
[0293] FIG. 13 illustrates an example global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information report for early termination, in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. FIG. 13 shows an example of combination of solution 2 for early termination and example 1 in embodiment-1. Note that the GNSS measurement gap / timer may start before the expiration of validity duration of old GNSS. Due to large RTT, it is possible that the UE send PRACH in a RO before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer but the earliest time for receiving EDT grant is after than end of GNSS measurement gap / timer. Since network may be able to send a UL grant to UE after end of GNSS measurement gap / timer, the UE may start to monitor UL grant immediately after the GNSS measurement gap / timer instead of waiting for the EDT grant. When the UE receives a UL grant before EDT grant, the UE may report GNSS related information in this UL grant. This may reduce the latency of success indication.
[0294] If early termination of GNSS acquisition continuously happens, it may indicate that the UE locates in a place with good channel condition. In such case, keeping the large GNSS measurement gap / timer may not be appropriate. Even if early termination can be applied to enable normal communication before the end of the GNSS measurement gap / timer, there can still be significant latency and resource waste due to waiting for RO / SR resource and repetition transmission of PRACH / SR / RAR. Hence, a mechanism to determine proper length of GNSS measurement gap / timer may need to be designed. For example, following mechanisms can be considered:
[0295] 1. The UE may report GNSS position fix time when early termination of GNSS acquisition has occurred N times. The GNSS position fix time may be determined by UE based on implementation. For example, the UE may record the duration of several recent GNSS acquisition and may derive the GNSS position fix time.
[0296] 2. The UE may report / suggest / propose a specific length of GNSS measurement gap / timer, when early termination of GNSS acquisition has occurred N times. The GNSS position fix time may be determined by the UE based on implementation. For example, the UE may record the duration of several recent GNSS acquisition and may derive the GNSS position fix time.
[0297] 3. The UE may indicate to the network to update length of GNSS measurement gap / timer when early termination of GNSS acquisition occur N times.
[0298] The report / indication in above solutions may be event-triggered. The event may be that early termination of GNSS acquisition occur N times. N may be predefined in standard or configured by the network via at least one of: a RRC signaling, a MAC CE signaling, or a DCI signaling. The early termination may refer to at least one of followings:
[0299] ● The UE finishes GNSS acquisition before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer.
[0300] ● The UE finishes GNSS acquisition before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer with a time interval T. T may be predefined in standard, or up to UE implementation, or configured by network via at least one of: a RRC, a MAC CE, or a DCI.
[0301] ● The UE reports GNSS related information before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer.
[0302] ● The UE obtains a UL grant before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer.
[0303] ● The UE sends a PRACH / SR before end of GNSS measurement gap / timer.
[0304] ● The UE starts / restarts GNSS validity duration timer before the end of GNSS measurement gap / timer.
[0305] ● The UE stops / updates GNSS measurement gap / timer before the end of original GNSS measurement gap / timer.
[0306] It should be understood that one or more features from the above implementation examples are not exclusive to the specific implementation examples, but can be combined in any manner (e.g., in any priority and / or order, concurrently or otherwise) .
[0307] FIG. 14 illustrates a flow diagram of a method 1400 for global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information report. The method 1400 may be implemented using any one or more of the components and devices detailed herein in conjunction with FIGs. 1–13. In overview, the method 1400 may be performed by a wireless communication device (e.g., a UE) , in some embodiments. Additional, fewer, or different operations may be performed in the method 1400 depending on the embodiment. At least one aspect of the operations is directed to a system, method, apparatus, or a computer-readable medium.
[0308] A wireless communication device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) ) may perform global navigation satellite system (GNSS) acquisition during a measurement window (e.g., a GNSS measurement gap / timer) . The wireless communication device may receive an uplink (UL) grant from a wireless communication node (e.g., a base station (BS) ) . The wireless communication device may send an uplink transmission comprising information related to the GNSS acquisition (e.g., GNSS related information) according to the UL grant to the wireless communication node. In some embodiments, a GNSS acquisition can be a GNSS measurement and / or a GNSS positioning.
[0309] In some embodiments, the information may include an implicit or explicit indication of successful performance of the GNSS acquisition. The information may comprise at least one of: a defined value, wherein the uplink transmission is dedicated for conveying the indication; a new or updated GNSS validity duration; or information indicative that the uplink transmission is successful. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may receive the UL grant before a first time window ends from the wireless communication node. The wireless communication device may monitor for the UL grant before the first time window ends. The first time window may start from an end of the measurement window. The first time window may start at a same time (simultaneously) as the measurement window.
[0310] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may send, to the wireless communication node, the uplink transmission according to at least one of: sending the uplink transmission in a resource configured by the UL grant and located after the measurement window; or sending the uplink transmission before a second time window ends, wherein the second time window starts from a start or end of the measurement window. The wireless communication device may determine to trigger radio link failure (RLF) or enter idle mode, at at least one of: an end of the first time window; an end of the second time window; an end of the resource configured by the UL grant; an end of a downlink message that is in response to the UL transmission (e.g., message indicating a feedback of the UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant) ; or an end of a downlink message that is in response to a last retransmission of the UL transmission. The wireless communication device may determine to trigger the RLF or enter the idle mode when the UL grant is not received or the UL transmission is not successful.
[0311] In response to a failure in the GNSS acquisition, the wireless communication device may determine at least one of: to skip monitoring a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) , before an end of the first time window; to skip monitoring a PDCCH, after the measurement window; to skip the sending of the uplink transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant; to skip the sending of the uplink transmission before an end of a second time window, or after the GNSS acquisition or the measurement window; to send the uplink transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant, the uplink transmission comprising an indication of the failure of the GNSS acquisition; or to send the uplink transmission before an end of the second time window, the uplink transmission comprising the indication of the failure of the GNSS acquisition.
[0312] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may determine to trigger radio link failure (RLF) or enter idle mode, when at least one of: the GNSS acquisition has failed; or a prior or current GNSS validity duration has expired.

The wireless communication device may receive the UL grant from the wireless communication node via at least one of: a radio resource control (RRC) signaling, a medium access control control element (MAC CE) signaling, or a downlink control information (DCI) signaling. In certain embodiments, the possible configuration of the UL grant can be: an offset with respect to start / end of one or each GNSS measurement gap / timer; periodic UL resources (e.g., indicate at least one of start time, offset, and periodicity) . The periodicity may be determined by GNSS validity duration or up to network configuration. The wireless communication device may receive the UL grant via type 1 or type 2 configured grant; or the UL grant indicates at least one of: at least one UL resource at an offset relative to a start or end of the measurement window; UL resources distributed periodically; at least one UL resource at an end of a downlink message that is in response to the UL transmission; or at least one UL resource at an end of a downlink message that is in response to a last retransmission of the UL transmission.
[0314] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may determine to trigger radio link failure (RLF) or enter idle mode, at at least one of: an end of the resource configured by the UL grant; an end of a downlink message that is in response to the UL transmission (e.g., message indicating a feedback of the UL transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant) ; or an end of a downlink message that is in response to a last retransmission of the UL transmission. The wireless communication device may determine to trigger the RLF or enter the idle mode when the UL transmission is not successful.
[0315] In response to a failure in the GNSS acquisition, the wireless communication device may determine at least one of: to skip the sending of the uplink transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant; or to send the uplink transmission in the resource configured by the UL grant, the uplink transmission comprising an indication of the failure of the measurement. In response to the failure in the GNSS acquisition, the wireless communication device may determine to trigger radio link failure (RLF) or enter idle mode, at at least one of: an end of the measurement window; an end of the resource configured by the UL grant; an end of a downlink message that is in response to the UL transmission; an end of a downlink message that is in response to a last retransmission of the UL transmission; or an end of a prior or current GNSS validity duration.
[0316] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may send a physical random access channel (PRACH) transmission or scheduling request (SR) to the wireless communication node. The wireless communication device may receive the UL grant from the wireless communication node in response to the PRACH transmission or SR. The wireless communication device may send, to the wireless communication node, the UL transmission after the PRACH transmission or SR and before an end of the measurement window. The wireless communication device may send the PRACH transmission or SR before an end of a third time window. The third time window may start from a start or end of the measurement window. The wireless communication device may send the PRACH transmission or SR within a defined number of resource occasions (ROs) or resources after the GNSS acquisition or the start or end of measurement window. The wireless communication device may monitor for the UL grant at or after an end of the measurement window. The wireless communication device may monitor for the UL grant at or after an end of a RO or resource used for sending the PRACH transmission or SR. The wireless communication device may send the UL transmission before a second time window ends. The second time window may start from a start or end of the measurement window. The wireless communication device may determine to trigger radio link failure (RLF) or enter idle mode, at at least one of: an end of the third time window; an end of a last RO or resource used for sending the PRACH transmission or SR; an end of the first time window; an end of the second time window; an end of the resource configured by the UL grant; an end of a downlink message that is in response to the UL transmission; or an end of a downlink message that is in response to a last retransmission of the UL transmission. The wireless communication device may determine to trigger the RLF or enter the idle mode when the PRACH transmission or SR is not transmitted, or the UL grant is not received, or the UL transmission is not successful.
[0317] In some embodiments, in response to a failure in the GNSS acquisition, the wireless communication device may determine at least one of: to skip the sending of the PRACH transmission or SR in one or more ROs or resources after the measurement window; or to send the PRACH transmission or SR in one or more ROs or resources after the measurement window; to keep in connected mode before expiration of a prior or current GNSS validity duration; to trigger a measurement window at expiration of a prior or current GNSS validity duration; to keep the first time window not changed for newly triggered measurement window; to keep the second time window not changed for newly triggered measurement window; to keep the third time window not changed for newly triggered measurement window; in response to at least one timing advance command (TAC) received before expiration of a prior or current GNSS validity duration, to extend duration of the prior or current GNSS validity duration, the extended duration may be configured by the wireless communication node or predefined; or in response to at least one TAC received before expiration of a prior or current GNSS validity duration, to start a timer at expiration of the prior or current GNSS validity duration or at a time of TAC reception, the duration of the timer may be configured by the wireless communication node or predefined.
[0318] In response to the failure in the GNSS acquisition, the wireless communication device may determine to trigger radio link failure (RLF) or enter idle mode, at at least one of: an end of the measurement window; an end of the first time window; an end of the second time window; an end of the third time window; an end of the resource configured by the UL grant; an end of a downlink message that is in response to the UL transmission; an end of a downlink message that is in response to a last retransmission of the UL transmission; or an end of a prior or current GNSS validity duration.
[0319] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may send a physical random access channel (PRACH) transmission and a msg3 to the wireless communication node. The wireless communication device may receive the UL grant after sending the msg3 from the wireless communication node. The wireless communication device may send the PRACH transmission or the msg3 before an end of a third time window, wherein the third time window starts from a start or end of the measurement window. The wireless communication device may send the PRACH transmission or SR within a defined number of resource occasions (ROs) or resources after GNSS acquisition or the start or end of measurement window. The wireless communication device may monitor for the UL grant at or after sending the msg3. The wireless communication device may send the UL transmission before a second time window ends, wherein the second time window starts from a start or end of the measurement window.
[0320] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may determine to trigger radio link failure (RLF) or enter idle mode, at at least one of: an end of the third time window; an end of a last RO or resource used for sending the PRACH transmission or SR; an end of the first time window; an end of the second time window; an end of the resource configured by the UL grant; an end of a downlink message that is in response to the UL transmission; or an end of a downlink message that is in response to a last retransmission of the UL transmission. The wireless communication device may determine to trigger RLF or enter idle mode when the PRACH transmission or SR is not transmitted, or the UL grant is not monitored, or the UL transmission is not successful.
[0321] In some embodiments, in response to a failure in the GNSS acquisition, the wireless communication device may determine at least one of: to skip a random access procedure after the GNSS acquisition or the measurement gap; or to initiate the random access procedure after the GNSS acquisition or the measurement gap. In response to the failure in the GNSS acquisition, the wireless communication device may determine to trigger radio link failure (RLF) or enter idle mode, at at least one of: an end of the measurement window; an end of the first time window; an end of the second time window; an end of the third time window; an end of the resource configured by the UL grant; an end of a downlink message that is in response to the UL transmission; an end of a downlink message that is in response to a last retransmission of the UL transmission; or an end of a prior or current GNSS validity duration.
[0322] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may trigger the sending of the UL transmission after the GNSS acquisition or the measurement window. The wireless communication device may send the UL transmission when a resource becomes available to send the UL transmission. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may receive the UL grant before a first time window ends from the wireless communication node. The first time window may start from a start or end of the measurement window. The wireless communication device may monitor for the UL grant before the first time window ends. The wireless communication device may send the uplink transmission in a resource configured by the UL grant and located after the measurement window. The wireless communication device may send the uplink transmission before a second time window ends. The second time window may start from a start or end of the measurement window.
