Abstract
Description
[0001] DESCRIPTION
[0002] Isometric training equipment.
[0003] TECHNICAL SECTOR
[0004] The present invention relates to isometric training equipment, that is, equipment that allows the different muscle groups of the body to be exercised by applying pressure to support points with little muscle movement, and more specifically without movement of the user's joints, thus avoiding muscle and joint injuries.
[0005] The device has been designed to offer great versatility and functionality when performing this type of exercise without moving, maintaining comfort and quality of execution for all types of users. It combines adjustable rigid elements on both axes of the Cartesian plane for the application of static forces and strength straps to increase the equipment's versatility.
[0006] The object of the invention is therefore to provide an extremely versatile and functional piece of equipment, in which the vast majority of muscle groups can be exercised isometrically. To do this, it is essential to offer a structure that is easily adaptable to different sizes of users, an adaptation that can be made from the seat itself, that is, with optimal accessibility to the multiple adjustment means offered by the equipment.
[0007] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0008] Although there are currently existing equipment designed for isometric exercises, the use of strength straps makes them highly versatile due to their ease of anchoring to different points of the equipment. To further minimize the risk of injury when performing these exercises, rigid elements are preferable for applying forces. Due to their rigidity, they are difficult to adjust along both axes of the Cartesian plane. In the field of practical application of the invention, machines for practicing isometric exercises are known, such as the one described in invention patent US2020353310 A1, which describes isometric training equipment consisting of a support chassis on the ground, in which a seat / backrest assembly is established that can be adjusted in inclination-longitudinal position, and which has transverse straps for locking and stabilizing the user, including a leg press, materialized in a support platform for the user's feet that is arranged on a tubular structure attached to the chassis, as well as a main post, coupled to the base at a first end thereof, in which grip elements are established, for performing certain types of exercises.
[0009] The problem with this device is the limitation in regulating the rigid elements to a single axis of the Cartesian plane for applying forces, which directly results in a limitation of the equipment's adaptability to the user's needs.
[0010] Another problem with these types of machines is that they affect the flow of the exercise routine, causing interruptions in the work on the equipment when changing its settings to perform other routines. This makes it necessary to change the user's position on the equipment to change exercises, or requiring the user to get up from the equipment to make the necessary adjustments to change exercises.
[0011] This problem is exacerbated by users with limited mobility who require assistance from another person to change position on the equipment or make various adjustments during their exercise routine.
[0012] In parallel, mixed machines are known for performing isometric, concentric and eccentric exercises, such as the one described in invention patent US 2021187339 A1, which describes a device for performing exercises that has a rear plate in its structure that has perforations along its entire length, in which individual horizontal bars can be arranged, which in turn can have carabiners arranged on them, thus offering multiple guiding points for mobile straps that allow the user the option of performing different exercises and adapting them to their own morphology. These accessories have not been designed for performing isometric exercises, since they are mobile straps, which can be moved in multiple directions during the exercises and therefore do not constitute static elements, since they allow the movement of the user's joints, and even more so when they are linked to a foot support unit, which also moves in synchronization with the movement of the straps.
[0013] In any case, due to the ease of fixing the strength straps, it would be possible to fix said strength straps to the aforementioned individual horizontal bars and transversal bars to the backrest, although not without certain drawbacks, such as the limitation of height regulation imposed by the maximum number of bars that can cross horizontally the backrest, due to the thickness that said individual bars must have to withstand the lever force that would be produced in the practice of an isometric exercise, as well as the possible risks and inefficiencies derived from the lack of means to avoid the longitudinal movement of the individual horizontal bars. But in no case would they allow the fixing and regulation on the two axes of the Cartesian plane of rigid elements for the application of static forces, since their configuration does not allow avoiding either the longitudinal or rotational displacement of the elements that could be fixed to the regulation bars disclosed in said invention.
[0014] Finally, document DE29515793U1 describes a device for performing isometric exercises, on which support arms can be suspended, at the free outer ends of which devices for performing isometric exercises are arranged.
[0015] These support arms are provided with retaining claws at their inner free ends, which allow them to engage bars that form part of a lattice structure. At the outer free ends opposite the retaining claws, the support arms are provided with sleeves to which rod-shaped exercise equipment is attached.
[0016] More specifically, the device includes a substantially vertical double lattice wall, based on horizontal and vertical bars, which is provided with a base plate for stability, which plate is provided with template feet by means of which it rests on the ground.
[0017] In this way, a kind of double lattice is formed with a rectangular prismatic configuration based on horizontal and vertical bars that form a very voluminous and heavy metal prism.
[0018] It is important to point out that the horizontal bars that participate in said prismatic structure considerably limit the regulation in the two axes of the Cartesian plane of the accessories provided in the present invention, since as will be seen later in the description of the invention, the horizontal bars of the lattice described in the utility model DE29515793U1 occupy a space necessary for a correct optimization of the anchoring points provided in the present invention.
[0019] Finally, the large volume and weight of the structure proposed by the utility model DE29515793U1 represents a problem that is practically impossible to solve efficiently for its application in isometric training equipment such as that provided in the present invention, requiring the reinforcement of the rest of the equipment for its integration, all of which has a very negative impact on the costs of manufacturing, storage, transport / distribution, as well as for the implementation of the device in the final space in which it is intended to be installed.
[0020] The present invention solves the problems set forth in a fully effective manner, allowing the user a much simpler, lighter device with a greater degree of adaptability, which allows regulation on both axes of the Cartesian plane of rigid elements for the application of static forces, so that after prior adjustment of the equipment elements to the size and needs of the user, the user can perform all the exercises in his or her routine from the same working position on the equipment, from which the user can make all the necessary adjustments to complete his or her exercise routine without having to get up from his or her seat, minimizing the duration of interruptions in his or her exercise routine, as well as the possible need for help from other people when the user has reduced mobility, which has a very positive effect on the fluidity of the routine. EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION
[0021] The isometric training equipment proposed by the invention consists primarily of a fixed seat and an adjustable backrest, whose structures are accompanied by the necessary elements for performing multiple exercises.
[0022] The adjustable backrest offers seating options for people of different heights and physiques. The machine allows users to properly support the glutes, hamstrings, popliteal muscles, and calves (the entire posterior area of the lower body). This ensures, among other things, proper support of the desired areas for all heights. This means that it is not necessary for the feet to rest on any specific area of the machine. This makes adaptation much faster and easier. Since there is no need to adjust the seat, once the backrest is adjusted, the user's own height determines the relative distances from the front elements of the machine, making leg press adjustment unnecessary.
[0023] In accordance with the essence of the invention, the equipment comprises several mechanisms that define rigid gripping zones in which static pushing or pulling forces are applied in a controlled manner, mechanisms that can be adjusted on the two axes of the Cartesian plane to offer maximum adaptability.
[0024] The equipment also includes anchoring areas for power straps for applying push and pull forces to increase the equipment's versatility and functionality.
[0025] More specifically, the seat is placed on a chassis resting on the floor, to which the aforementioned seat is attached. The chassis is slightly inclined with respect to the horizontal, i.e., it has a wedge-like configuration. It includes transverse locking straps to secure the user's legs, as well as the support area for the popliteal and hamstring regions that emerges downward from the front end of said seat and is connected to the aforementioned chassis. The leg locking straps prevent areas of the body such as the pelvis or legs from moving when force is applied to another area, helping to generate specific and optimal force stimuli. If movement occurs, the stimulus efficiency in the focal area would be lost. Similarly, if the force circuit does not close or is blocked in the distal area, the application of force in the focal area (force intensity) is limited.
[0026] The seat may include lateral leg support elements, both interior and exterior, for applying leg closing and opening forces (hip abduction and adduction). These elements are equipped with positional adjustment devices that allow adaptation to different leg widths. These supports may include sensors for detecting the forces exerted by the user's legs on these elements.
[0027] Notably, the equipment is completed with a pair of poles, intended for performing exercises such as rowing or chest press, which are linked to grids arranged on both sides of the seat, based on parallel bars, equipped with alignments of holes, which allow the poles to be selectively linked along one or the other of said bars, through the holes arranged in the same in the horizontal plane, which will be immobilized by means of the corresponding pins. And another pair of poles for performing shoulder press and pull-down exercises, which are linked to grids equivalent to the previous ones arranged on the sides of the backrest frame.
[0028] This grid-based structure allows the position of the rods to be adjusted along the two axes of the Cartesian plane. These rods, being rigid elements that can be gripped at different points along their length, thus determine a system for regulating the point of application of static force in three dimensions, offering maximum versatility in regulating the point of application of the force.
[0029] Another mechanism involved in the equipment is the chest stabilizer, which consists of an inclined telescopic strut, which emerges from the base of the chassis towards the user's chest, at the upper end of which a tubular element with a set screw or equivalent element is included, which allows the axial regulation of a tubular profile that ends at the top in a padded element intended to rest on the user's chest, for performing rowing exercises among others.
[0030] In parallel, the equipment features a leg press, which creates a static contact surface for the user's feet. This surface is placed on a tubular structure that ends in a double platform that is inclined and elevated relative to the seat.
[0031] The backrest is composed of a structure that can be adjusted using two adjustment systems with pins, which allow the contact area to be moved and rotated.
[0032] It includes an upholstered support base, attached to a metal frame, which frame is internally and articulately linked to an articulated quadrilateral-shaped structure on the upper base of which a guide bar is established on which a slider can be moved, which is linked to the backrest frame in its middle area through a bi-articulated bar, said slider having selective locking means along the guide bar, which allows the inclination of said backrest to be adjusted.
[0033] The backrest includes adjustable straps to lock and stabilize the user's torso during certain types of exercises, to prevent loss of exercise efficiency in the targeted area.
[0034] For its part, the articulated quadrilateral by means of which the backrest is linked to the chassis allows the forward or backward movement of the backrest to be regulated in order to adapt to different sizes of users, for which one of the oblique bars of said articulated quadrilateral extends internally in a section whose end is affected by a hole for the passage of a locking element that in the different relative positions of this piece is selectively facing a series of holes provided on a plate integral with the chassis, thus being able to lock said mechanism in different positions that determine different stable positions more forward or backward for the backrest itself.
[0035] Finally, the strength straps for performing exercises can be selectively anchored, depending on the exercise, to the holes in the adjustment grids of both the seat and the backrest, as well as to the various anchor points distributed throughout the equipment for this purpose.
[0036] Finally, it remains to be noted that the strength belts and each of the rigid force-application elements can be individually sensorized, so that the corresponding software can monitor the efforts made by the user on each of them, either through a screen, display, or even external devices such as mobile phones, tablets, or similar.
[0037] Based on this structure, the equipment of the invention offers the following features and advantages:
[0038] • The equipment allows regulation on both axes of the Cartesian plane of rigid elements for the application of static forces. These elements, due to their rigidity, can be gripped at different points along their length, thus determining a regulation system for the point of application of static force in three dimensions, offering maximum versatility in the regulation of the point of application of the force.
[0039] • The machine is designed to allow the elements to be adjusted to the user's size and needs at the beginning of the workout, without the user having to get up from the seat during the exercise routine, as the various adjustment methods are accessible from the working position. The duration of interruptions in the exercise routine is minimized, as is the possible need for assistance by users with reduced mobility, which greatly improves the flow of the routine.
[0040] • The regulations allow all people with different body proportions to work in the same way and under the same quality of execution conditions. This way, people of very different sizes can apply force in different exercises from similar joint positions, as well as achieve the same muscle mechanics (stimulus) in each exercise.
[0041] • The backrest's translation adjustment allows all users to have their glutes, hamstrings, popliteal muscles, and calves (the entire posterior area of the lower body) supported with their back resting on the backrest. Additionally, the rotation adjustment allows for exercises that require a certain amount of back inclination, such as the leg press, among others. The seat is designed to keep the user's sacral and lumbar areas in a neutral position, with the hips below 90 degrees of flexion, to reduce lumbosacral tension during the various exercises.
[0042] • Fixation systems prevent body areas such as the pelvis or legs from shifting when force is applied to another area, helping to generate specific and optimal force stimuli. If movement occurs, the stimulus efficiency in the focal area would be lost. Similarly, if the force circuit does not close or is blocked in the distal area, the application of force to the focal area (force intensity) is limited.
[0043] • Individualization of the rigid force application elements allows for individual sensorization of each force application element, both force straps and rigid elements. Thanks to this individualized sensorization, it is possible to compare forces in exercises in which force is applied bilaterally, such as the shoulder press, which allows for the detection of possible force asymmetries, improving the quality of exercise monitoring.
[0044] • The grip or force application points are located and oriented in such a way as to make the machine intuitive and easy to use. Much of this muscle-joint accommodation is achieved almost unconsciously, since the location and shape of these points ensure that when force is applied, the rest of the body adjusts to an ideal position.
[0045] • The machine structure is correctly adapted to the individual's musculoskeletal biomechanics, as well as other aspects related to safety, quality, ease of use, and fluidity.
[0046] • The points of application of the forces are located and oriented in such a way that when the force is applied, the ideal force vectors are generated to stimulate each of the specific muscle groups of each exercise.
[0047] • Pulls or pushes with the arms respect the neutrality of the wrists, as well as the radio-ulnar joint, so that the joints that are not involved during the exercise maintain their integrity, that is, free from injury.
[0048] • The force application points facilitate the neutrality of the shoulder girdle, as well as the spine, achieving the greatest safety in the application of force.
[0049] • The force application points are adjustable to allow forces to be applied from neutral to intermediate joint positions, providing alternatives for all audiences, but also solutions for injury or pregnancy profiles.

[0080] PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
[0081] In view of the figures outlined, and in particular of figures 1 and 2, it can be seen how it is constituted from a chassis (1) supporting the floor, on which a seat (2) is established, a backrest (3) next to which are installed some regulation grids (7) for selective fixing of a pair of sticks (8) for manual grip and strength straps (37), a thorax stabilizer (4), a leg press (5) and some horizontal regulation grids (6) for selective fixing of a second pair of sticks (9) for manual grip, hand grips (48) and strength straps (37), as well as different additional selective anchoring points for the strength straps (37) arranged at different points of the equipment.
[0082] More specifically, the seat (2) is designed such that the user has the sacral and lumbar area in a neutral position, the hip below 90 degrees of flexion to reduce lumbosacral tension when practicing the different exercises, presenting a wedge-shaped configuration, with a slight inclination with respect to the horizontal, including transverse straps (10) for locking and stabilizing the user's legs, including a support area for the calves and back of the knees (11) that emerges downwards from the front end of said seat and is linked to the aforementioned chassis, also having straps (10) for locking and stabilizing the user's legs. Said transverse straps (10) for locking and stabilizing the legs will be used selectively based on the exercise to be performed.
[0083] According to figures 4 to 9, the backrest (3) is made up of an upholstered base (12), attached to a metal frame (13), and having locking straps (44) that can be used selectively depending on the exercises to be performed, to lock and stabilize the user's trunk. In the present embodiment, said locking straps (44) are connected to the sides of the backrest (3) and to an anchor (45) arranged in a fixed part of the telescopic strut (26) of the thorax stabilizer (4).
[0084] For its part, the metal frame (13) of the backrest is internally linked through a joint (14) to the upper base (15) of a quadrilateral articulated structure, upper base (15) in which in turn a guide (16) is established through which a slide (17) can be moved, which is linked to the middle area of the metal frame (13) by means of a bi-articulated bar (18).
[0085] The slide (17) is selectively locked along the guide (16) by means of a first lever (19) accessible to the user from the seat itself, thus controlling the inclination of the backrest (3).
[0086] This lever will actuate a pin against the tension of a spring, which can be selectively locked into an alignment of holes made on the guide itself (16).
[0087] In parallel, the articulated quadrilateral by means of which the backrest is linked to the chassis allows the forward or backward movement of the backrest to be regulated in order to adapt to different sizes of users, for which one of the oblique bars (20) of said articulated quadrilateral extends internally in a section whose end is affected by a hole in which a pin (22) plays, which can be actuated by means of a second lever (21) against the tension of a spring, as shown in figure 7, which can be selectively fitted into a series of holes (23) provided on a plate or plate (24) attached to the chassis (1).
[0088] In this way, and as shown in figures 8 and 9, the variation in the configuration of the articulated quadrilateral causes a forward or backward movement of the backrest, all of which is controlled through the second lever (21) also accessible to the user from the seat.
[0089] As for the leg press (5), and according to figure 10, it is composed of bars (5') welded or bolted to the chassis (1), of square section, arranged so as to provide the desired surface and resistance, fixing to this structure an anti-slip plate (25) that determines a double support platform for the user's feet, with an inclination between 45° and 65°, preferably 65°. Additionally, the bars (5') and the lower edges of the foot support platforms may include anchors (46) for the selective coupling of force straps (37).
[0090] This structure is in turn linked to a chest stabilizer (4), shown in figures 11 to 13, and materialized in a telescopic strut (26), with selective locking means (27), such as a prisoner, pin or similar, which rises at an angle of the order of 70° through the center of the structure of the press (5), welded at two points at different heights, thus increasing the resistance of said leg press, strut at the upper end of which is mounted a tubular element (28) with a prisoner screw (29) or equivalent element, which allows the axial regulation of a tubular profile (30) that ends previously in a padded element (31) intended to support the user's chest. This allows this padded element to be adjusted horizontally to define a stabilization point for the user's chest when practicing different types of exercises.Additionally, the tubular element (28) may include an anchor (47) for the selective coupling of force belts (37).
[0091] According to figures 1, 2, 14, 15 and 16, on the sides of the backrest (3), and more specifically to the metal frame thereof, some regulation grids (7) are screwed on each side, although these could also be welded, grids in which two extreme crossbars participate between which a series of bars are arranged parallel to each other and parallel to the backrest (3) provided with holes (32) in which the pair of sticks (8) can be selectively installed (both bar and hole), as well as force straps (37), thus allowing both transversal and vertical adjustment of the locking point of these sticks (8). The pair of sticks (8) define grip areas for the user's hands, when performing shoulder press and pull down exercises. These baton grip areas (8), to improve ergonomics and achieve joint neutrality of the wrists, have a downward inclination of 10° with respect to the horizontal and an opening of 10° outwards with respect to the longitudinal axis of the seat.
[0092] To this end, and in accordance with figures 15 and 16, these rods are materialized in a hollow circular section bar, where the connection with the bars of the regulation grids is made by means of an anchoring piece (33) welded at the lower end of the bar. The anchoring piece contains a fixed pin (34), so that once placed in position a second non-return pin (35) is inserted. The geometry of the pin is such that it prevents the passing part of it from moving back.
[0093] The free end of each of these poles (8), beyond the grip area for shoulder press and pull down exercises, curves internally and ends with an eyebolt (38) for the selective anchoring of strength straps (37) for performing certain exercises, such as frontal and lateral spine flexion.
[0094] As stated above, the equipment provides for the use of a second pair of poles (9) as shown in figure 18, for chest press and rowing exercises, which can be adjusted in different positions by means of horizontal regulation grids (6), as shown in figure 17, which are screwed by means of clamps (36) or welded to the chassis (1), in which two end crossbars participate between which a series of bars are arranged parallel to each other and transverse to the seat (2), provided with alignments of holes (32) in which the second pair of poles (9) can be selectively coupled (both hole and bar), as well as the force straps (37), thus allowing both transverse and longitudinal adjustment of the locking point of these poles (9).The poles (9) define two distinct grip zones, one grip zone (41) for chest press exercises and another grip zone (42) for rowing exercises. Taking the upper vertex of the chest press grip zone (41) as a reference, in order to improve ergonomics and achieve joint neutrality of the wrist, it has an outward opening of 20° with respect to the longitudinal axis of the seat and opens 10° with respect to the vertical. While taking the lower vertex of the rowing grip zone (42) as a reference, with the same objective, it closes 10° with respect to the longitudinal axis of the seat and opens 10° with respect to the vertical.
[0095] For coupling the second pair of rods (9) to the horizontal regulation grids (6), they are finished at their lower end in an anchoring piece (33) welded to the lower end of the bar. The anchoring piece contains a fixed pin (34), so that once placed in position, a second non-return pin (35) is inserted.
[0096] For their part, the hand grips (48), which allow the user to keep their arms motionless by blocking the user's torso in exercises such as the leg press, are selectively coupled to the horizontal regulation grills (6) by means of a set of elements identical to that described for the coupling of the second pair of poles.
[0097] (9).
[0098] Figures 20 and 21 show in detail the straps (10) for locking and stabilizing the user's legs, whose function is to prevent areas of the body such as the pelvis or legs from moving when a force is applied to another area, helping to generate specific and optimal force stimuli. Since if movement occurs, the stimulus efficiency in the protagonist area would be lost and in the same way, if the force circuit is not closed or is blocked in the distal area, the application of force in the protagonist area (force intensity) is limited.
[0099] For this purpose, the chassis (1) has eyelets on each side for fixing the straps.
[0100] (10) locking and stabilizing the legs, which are equipped with hooking (39) and adjustment (40) means, offering different adjustments. In addition, to avoid chafing and strangulation due to tightening, they will include padding.
[0101] Finally, it remains to be noted that, although not shown in the figures, the seat (2) may include lateral leg support elements, both internal and external, for the application of leg closing and opening forces (hip abduction and adduction), which are equipped with positional adjustment means that allow adaptation to different leg thicknesses. These supports may also include means for sensing the forces exerted by the user's legs on these elements. These elements therefore allow the pelvis to be stabilized, as well as external and internal thrust exercises.
[0102] Based on this design, the machine and its components can be adapted to different heights and anthropometric dimensions. In this case, the goal is to serve a population between 150 cm and 195 cm tall, ensuring the same quality of performance for all users. To meet this requirement, the machine's moving parts contain the necessary adjustments for proper exercise performance in all height and physique scenarios. In short, the machine and its components adapt to the user without having to leave the seat, and all adjustments can be made from the seat without leaving the working position.
[0103] As for the modes of use of the equipment, figures 22 to 32 show, as an example, some of the main exercises to be performed with the equipment with the objective of showing the areas of application of forces of the rigid elements and the different areas of the equipment where the selective anchoring points of the force straps (37) are arranged. Specifically, figures 22 to 26 show exercises in which the forces are exerted on rigid elements of the equipment while figures 27 to 32 show exercises in which the forces are exerted on force straps (37).
[0104] Figures 22 and 23 show the performance of shoulder press and pull down exercises in which a push or pull force respectively is exerted on the grip area of the pair of poles (8). Figure 24 shows a chest press exercise in which a push force is exerted on the chest press grip area (41) of the pair of poles (9), while Figure 25 shows a rowing exercise in which a pull force is exerted on the rowing grip area (42) of the poles (9) while the thorax is kept stabilized by resting the chest against the padding (31) of the thorax stabilizer (4). And Figures 26a and 26b show different views of a leg press exercise where a push force is exerted on the leg press (5).
[0105] For their part, figures 27a and 27b show different views of a frontal spine flexion exercise, for which the backrest has previously been folded down until the free ends of the poles (8) are aligned with the vertical of the user's shoulders, in which the anchoring points (38) of the free ends of the poles (8) are used to fix the force straps (37). Figure 28 shows a lateral spine flexion exercise. Figure 29 shows a spine extension exercise, in which a traction force is exerted on a force strap attached to the anchoring point (47) of the thorax stabilizer (4). Figures 30 and 31 show knee flexion and elbow flexion exercises respectively, in which force is exerted on force straps (37) attached to anchoring points (46) distributed throughout the different elements that make up the leg press (5).Figure 32 shows a spinal rotation exercise in which the strength strap is attached to one of the hole points of one of the regulation grids (7) by means of an eyebolt. Finally, Figure 33 shows a shoulder abduction exercise in which the strength strap is anchored by means of an eyebolt to one of the holes of one of the horizontal regulation grids (6).
