[0088] FIG. 2 is a diagram illustrating a connection between an electronic device and a plurality of external electronic devices according to one embodiment.

[0089] Referring to FIG. 2, the electronic device (201) may be a master device or a source device that provides data (e.g., audio data or multimedia data). The electronic device (201) may be an electronic device such as a smart phone, and may be the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1. According to one embodiment, the external electronic device #1 (202) and the external electronic device #2 (204) may be slave devices or sink devices that receive data from the electronic device (201) and process or output the received data. The external electronic device #1 (202) and the external electronic device #2 (204) may be the electronic device (102) or the electronic device (104) of FIG. 1, respectively.

[0090] The electronic device (201) and the external electronic device #1 (202) or the electronic device (201) and the external electronic device #2 (204) can be connected to each other based on a wireless communication technology (e.g., Bluetooth legacy (or classic) or Bluetooth low energy (BLE) communication technology) to transmit and receive data.

[0091] In the various embodiments described below, a case will be described where an electronic device (201) transmits data to two external electronic devices (202, 204). For example, the electronic device (201) may transmit sound data that may be provided to a user to external electronic device #1 (202) and / or external electronic device #2 (204).

[0092] In one embodiment, external electronic device #1 (202) and / or external electronic device #2 (204) may be devices included in a single set. For example, the devices included in a single set may be devices that are each connected via a separate communication link and provide related functions to provide a single integrated service (e.g., stereo sound output or 5.1 channel sound output). For example, external electronic device #1 (202) and external electronic device #2 (204) may be wireless earphone devices that operate as a single set. In addition, external electronic device #1 (202) may be one of the left external device and the right external device, and external electronic device #2 (204) may be the other one of the left external device and the right external device. In one embodiment, when the external electronic device #1 (202) and the external electronic device #2 (204) are implemented as wireless earphones, the external electronic device #1 (202) and / or the external electronic device #2 (204) may each receive various data (e.g., data for synchronizing sound that can be output from the wireless earphones, data for adjusting sound, or a response signal corresponding to a signal transmitted by the electronic device (201)) from the electronic device (201).

[0093] In FIG. 2, an example in which an electronic device (201) is connected to two external electronic devices (202, 204) is described, but the present invention is not limited thereto, and the electronic device (201) may be connected to a variety of external electronic devices, including three or more. In addition, various embodiments may be applied to devices that receive data transmitted by the electronic device (201) as well as external devices, and other types of devices capable of wireless communication with the electronic device (201), such as smart phones, smart watches, or tablet PCs.

[0094] In one embodiment, the electronic device (201) may establish a first communication link (link 1) to perform data communication with an external electronic device #1 (202). In one embodiment, the electronic device (201) may establish a second communication link (link 2) to perform data communication with an external electronic device #2 (204). Additionally, the external electronic device #1 (202) and / or the external electronic device #2 (204) may be additionally connected via a separate third communication link (not shown) if necessary.

[0095] In some embodiments, connection-oriented communication may be performed via the first communication link and the second communication link. Additionally, connectionless communication may be performed between the electronic device (201) and external electronic device #1 (202) and external electronic device #2 (204). Connection-oriented communication and connectionless communication may be performed via isochronous (ISO) channels.

[0096] In one embodiment, the electronic device (201) may transmit various signals (e.g., advertising signals) to the external electronic device #1 (202) and / or the external electronic device #2 (204) to establish a communication link or to synchronize with the external electronic device #1 (202) and / or the external electronic device #2 (204).

[0097] In one embodiment, the electronic device (201) may receive various information (e.g., connection device information and / or device property information) from external electronic device #1 (202) and / or external electronic device #2 (204), and provide various user interfaces (e.g., notifications or control interfaces) through a display (e.g., display module (160) of FIG. 1) based on the received information.

[0098] FIG. 3 is a diagram for explaining connectionless-based communication according to one embodiment.

[0099] Referring to FIG. 3, an electronic device (310) (e.g., a smartphone) may perform non-connected communication to transmit broadcast data. Non-connected communication may refer to one-way communication from the electronic device (310) to one or more external electronic devices (e.g., earbud devices). The one or more external electronic devices may include, for example, a first earbud device (311) (e.g., a left earbud device), a second earbud device (313) (e.g., a right earbud device), a third earbud device (315) (e.g., another left earbud device), and a fourth earbud device (317) (e.g., another right earbud device). The first earbud device (311) and the second earbud device (313) may be different devices from the third earbud device (315) and the fourth earbud device (317).

[0100] The electronic device (310) may be the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1, the electronic device (201) of FIG. 2, or the electronic device (301) of FIG. 3. The first earbud device (311) (or the third earbud device (315)) may be the electronic device (102) or the electronic device (104) of FIG. 1, or the external electronic device #1 (202) of FIG. 2. The second earbud device (313) (or the fourth earbud device (317)) may be the electronic device (102) or the electronic device (104) of FIG. 1, or the external electronic device #2 (204) of FIG. 2.

[0101] In connectionless communication, broadcast data can be transmitted (or streamed) using synchronized streams. In one embodiment of the present disclosure, transmission of a broadcast isochronous stream (BIS) stream may mean broadcasting the BIS stream. Here, broadcasting the BIS stream may mean transmitting or broadcasting data based on the BIS stream. More specifically, it may mean transmitting or broadcasting BIS packets, BIS protocol data units (PDUs), data, audio data, etc. through the BIS stream. Each synchronized stream may be a broadcast isochronous stream (BIS), which is a broadcast data transmission stream, and may support retransmission to increase the reliability of packet transmission. The synchronized streams may be included in a broadcast isochronous group (BIG).

[0102] Referring to FIG. 3, a first BIS (322), a second BIS (324), a third BIS (326), and a fourth BIS (328) from an electronic device (which may be referred to as a master electronic device (M) or an Isochronous Broadcaster) (310) may be utilized for transmission of broadcast data. The first BIS (322), the second BIS (324), the third BIS (326), and the fourth BIS (328) may be included in the same BIG. The first earbud device (311) can receive broadcast data through the first BIS (322), the second earbud device (313) can receive broadcast data through the second BIS (324), the third earbud device (315) can receive broadcast data through the third BIS (326), and the fourth earbud device (317) can receive broadcast data through the fourth BIS (328). As another example, the BIS may be a one-to-many data transmission stream, for example, the first BIS (322) may be transmitted to the first earbud device (311) and the third earbud device (315).

[0103] According to the packet format of LE Uncoded PHY (LE 1M, LE 2M), each packet can be composed of four mandatory fields and one optional field. The mandatory fields include a preamble, an access address, a protocol data unit (PDU), and a cyclic redundancy check (CRC), and the optional field includes a constant tone extension (CTE).

[0104] The preamble is 1 octet when transmitted or received on LE 1M PHY, and 2 octets when transmitted or received on LE 2M PHY. The access address is 4 octets. The range of the PDU (protocol data unit) is 2 to 258 octets. The CRC (cyclic redundancy check) is 3 octets. The preamble is transmitted first, followed by the access address, PDU, CRC, and CTE (if present) in that order. The entire packet is transmitted at the same symbol rate (either 1 Msym / s or 2 Msym / s modulation). A packet (without CTE) takes 44 to 2128 μs to transmit. If a CTE is present, the CTE duration is 16 to 160 μs.

[0105] All AUX_SYNC_IND, AUX_CHAIN_IND, AUX_SYNC_SUBEVENT_IND, AUX_CONNECT_REQ, and AUX_CONNECT_RSP PDUs transmitted on a periodic advertising train must use the access address (AA) value set in the SyncInfo field of the AUX_ADV_IND PDU that describes the train. All AUX_SYNC_SUBEVET_RSP PDUs transmitted on a periodic advertising with responses train must use the access address (AA) value set in the Periodic Advertising Response Timing Information field of the AUX_ADV_IND PDU that describes the train. For periodic advertising with responses trains, the AA value of the AUX_SYNC_SUBEVENT_RSP PDU must be different from the AA value of the AUX_SYNC_SUBEVENT_IND PDU. The AA of all other advertising physical channel packets must be 0b10001110 10001001 10111110 11010110 (0x8E89BED6).

[0106] Each connection between two devices, each BIS, and each periodic advertising train is intended to have a different access address (AA). The initiating link layer generates a new access address for each initial PDU it transmits. The advertising link layer generates a new access address whenever a periodic advertising train is enabled, and in the case of periodic advertising with responses, it must generate a second access address for the response. The first address is transmitted in the SyncInfo field of the PDU designating the periodic advertising train, and the second address is transmitted in the periodic advertising response timing information for the train.

[0107] A new seed access address (SAA) is generated for each BIG in the link layer in the isochronous broadcasting state. The access addresses (AA) for the BIS(s) to be generated can be derived from the SAA. The access addresses for each BIS and BIG control logical link must be derived from the SAA for that BIG.

[0108] The periodic advertising interval is the starting interval between two AUX_SYNC_IND PDUs scheduled in the same advertising set. The periodic advertising interval must be an integer multiple of 1.25 ms, ranging from 7.5 ms to 81.91875 s (even if the PDUs are not transmitted for any reason). A periodic advertising event consists of an AUX_SYNC_IND PDU and its subset.

[0109] Two periodic advertising events for the same periodic advertising train must not overlap. While periodic advertising is enabled, the periodic advertising interval must not change. Periodic advertising is used when advertising data must be transmitted regularly at regular intervals. Periodic advertising is defined as two types: periodic advertising without responses and periodic advertising with responses. Periodic advertising without responses consists of advertisements transmitted at fixed intervals with occasionally changing advertising data. The AUX_SYNC_IND and AUX_CHAIN_IND PDUs that comprise these advertisements form a periodic advertising train. Periodic advertising with responses (PAwR) consists of advertisements transmitted at fixed intervals with frequently changing advertising data and responses. The AUX_SYNC_SUBEVENT_IND and AUX_SYNC_SUBEVENT_RSP PDUs that comprise these advertisements form a PAwR train.

[0110] An advertising set containing periodic advertisements is identified by the AdvDataInfo field of an ADV_EXT_IND PDU pointing to an AUX_ADV_IND PDU containing a SyncInfo field. AUX_SYNC_IND PDUs, AUX_SYNC_SUBEVENT_IND PDUs, and the PDUs pointing to them must always be transmitted on the same PHY. The PHY, access address, and CRCInit values of the AUX_SYNC_IND PDU and AUX_SYNC_SUBEVENT_IND PDU used for periodic advertisements must not change while the corresponding train is active. Advertising pointing to a periodic advertising train must not be anonymous. Whenever a periodic advertising train is activated, the controller must transmit at least one AUX_ADV_IND PDU pointing to the first AUX_SYNC_IND or AUX_SYNC_SUBEVENT_IND PDU of that train. There are no requirements on whether or when to transmit subsequent advertising PDUs pointing to the train. In case of periodic advertising with responses, the ACAD (additional controller advertising information) field of the AUX_ADV_IND PDU must contain periodic advertising response timing information.

[0111] FIG. 4 is a diagram for explaining a BIG (broadcast isochronous group) event and a BIS (broadcast isochronous stream) event according to one embodiment.

[0112] Referring to (a) of Fig. 4, a BIG event contains one BIS event and a control subevent. Also, referring to (b) of Fig. 4, a BIG event contains two BIS events and one control subevent.

[0113] BIS logical transport is used to transmit one or more isochronous data streams to devices within a BIS. The data can be fixed-size or variable-size, framed or unframed. BIS has one or more subevents for transmitting isochronous data packets. BIS supports the transmission of multiple new isochronous data packets for every BIS event. Additionally, BIS does not have an acknowledgment protocol, and traffic is transmitted unidirectionally from the broadcasting device.

[0114] Because BIS logical transport lacks acknowledgment, it is inherently unreliable. To improve transmission reliability, isochronous data packets can be unconditionally retransmitted by increasing the number of subevents within each event. Furthermore, transmission reliability can be improved by transmitting packets at intervals faster than their associated intervals. This is called pre-transmission.

[0115] The BIS supports low energy-stream (LE-S) (unframed) or low energy-frame (LE-F) logical links, and also supports low energy broadcast control (LEB-C) logical links. A BIS is identified by its unique access address (AA) and timing information. The access address and timing information are transmitted in packets transmitted using the associated periodic advertising broadcast (PADVB) logical transport. A scanning device that supports the synchronized receiver role can receive isochronous data from the BIS after synchronizing to the BIS using timing information from the periodic advertising train.

[0116] BIS is a logical transport that allows devices to transmit isochronous data. Isochronous data can be framed or unframed. BIS supports variable-size packets and the transmission of one or more packets per isochronous event, enabling it to support a variety of data rates. Data traffic is transmitted unidirectionally from a broadcasting device. Therefore, there is no acknowledgment protocol, and broadcast isochronous traffic is inherently unreliable. To improve packet delivery reliability, BIS supports multiple retransmissions.

[0117] Each broadcast isochronous stream (BIS) is part of a broadcast isochronous group (BIG). A BIG can have one or more BISs. Multiple BISs within a BIG have a common timing reference based on the broadcasting device and are temporally synchronized. For example, the left and right channels of an audio stereo stream received by separate devices may need to be rendered simultaneously. However, multiple BISs within a BIG can be scheduled in a sequential or interleaved arrangement.

[0118] A BIG consists of two or more BISs or a single BIS that have the same ISO_Interval and are expected to have a temporal relationship at the application layer. The maximum number of BISs in a BIG is 31. A BIG also includes control subevents.

[0119] Each BIG can be defined by the following parameters:

[0120] - Num_BIS is the number of BISs in BIG. Each BIS in BIG is assigned a different BIS_Number from 1 to Num_BIS.

[0121] - ISO_Interval is the time in 1.25ms between two adjacent BIG anchor points. Its value ranges from 4 to 3200 (5ms to 4s).

[0122] - BIS_Spacing is the time between the start time of the corresponding subevent in adjacent BISs in BIG and the start time of the first subevent of the last BIS and the control subevent.

[0123] - Sub_Interval is the time between the start of each of two consecutive sub-events within the BIS.

[0124] - Max_PDU is the maximum number of data octets (excluding MIC (message integrity check)) that can be transmitted in each BIS data PDU in BIG. The value is between 1 and 251.

[0125] - Max_SDU is the maximum size of this BIG's SDU (service data unit). This value is between 1 and 4095.

[0126] - MTP (message transfer part) shall be equal to the time taken to transmit a packet containing BIS data PDU with a payload of Max_PDU octets in the PHY used for BIS, and in LE Coded PHY, S=8 is assumed.

[0127] - BN (burst number), PTO (pre-transmission offset), and IRC (immediate repeat count) control what data is transmitted in each BIG event. BN must be between 1 and 7. PTO must be between 0 and 15. IRC must be between 1 and 15.

[0128] - NSE (number of subevents) is the number of subevents per BIS for each BIG event. This value must be between 1 and 31 and an integer multiple of BN.

[0129] - Framed indicates whether BIG carries framed or unframed data.

[0130] - Encrypted indicates whether BIG is encrypted.

[0131] These parameters remain unchanged for the lifetime of BIG. The required range for each parameter is the entire range of valid values, excluding the following parameters, of which only the listed values are required.

[0132] - Num_BIS : 1

[0133] - BN: 1

[0134] - NSE: all supported values of BN

[0135] - PTO: 0

[0136] - IRC: all supported values of GC

[0137] Each BIG shall have a 39-bit counter, bigEventCounter, associated with it. This value is set to 0 for the first BIG event in the BIG and incremented by 1 for each BIG event, regardless of whether the isochronous broadcaster (e.g., the isochronous broadcasting device) transmits broadcast isochronous PDUs during the event. Each BIS shall have a 39-bit counter, bisPayloadCounter, associated with it. The link layer of an isochronous broadcaster and its synchronized receiver shall terminate before bisPayloadCounter reaches 2^39-1. Note that when a BIG event starts, all BISs in the BIG have the same value for bisPayloadCounter, and also bigEventCounter * BN = bisPayloadCounter.

[0138] A BIS event consists of one or more BIS PDUs. The link layer transmits BIS PDUs only in BIG events. The link layer transmits only BIS PDUs as part of a BIG event. Each BIG event is divided into a BIS event and a control subevent, which are divided by Num_BIS. Each BIS event is further divided into NSE subevents. Each BIS event begins at a moment called the BIS anchor point and ends after the last subevent. Each BIG event begins at a moment called the BIG anchor point and ends after the control subevent, if any, or otherwise ends at the last constituent BIS event. BIG anchor points must be regularly spaced at ISO_Interval intervals. The BIS anchor points for BIS n of a BIG must be (n - 1) * BIS_Spacing after the BIG anchor point, and are regularly spaced at ISO_Interval intervals. Sub-events of each BIS must be spaced by Sub_Interval. An isochronous broadcaster must terminate a BIG event at least T_IFS (time for inter-frame space) before the BIG anchor point of the next BIG event.

[0139] Each BIG event can contain control subevents. At the start of a control subevent, the link layer transmits a single BIG control PDU to convey control information for the BIG. The link layer does not transmit BIG control PDUs at any other time. The time from the BIG anchor point specified by BIG_Control_Offset to the start of the control subevent is as follows.

[0140] BIG_Control_Offset = Num_BIS * BIS_Spacing for Sequential

[0141] BIG_Control_Offset = NSE * Sub_Interval for interleaved

[0142] FIG. 5 is a diagram for explaining a sequential arrangement and an interleaved arrangement of BIS according to one embodiment.

[0143] Referring to FIG. 5, an arrangement for BIG with Num_BIS=2 and NSE=2 is illustrated. Here, (a) illustrates a sequential arrangement, and (b) illustrates an interleaved arrangement.

[0144] The BISs within a BIG are arranged sequentially or interleaved by appropriately setting the values of the Sub_Interval and BIS_Spacing parameters. In the case of a sequential arrangement, BIS_Spacing must be greater than or equal to NSE * Sub_Interval, so that all subevents of a BIS event occur together. In the case of an interleaved arrangement, Sub_Interval must be Num_BIS * BIS_Spacing, so that the first subevents of all BISs are adjacent, and then the second subevents of all BISs are adjacent. In each case, the minimum value for BIS_Spacing must be used.

[0145] The maximum possible length of the data portion of a BIG event (excluding control subevents) is denoted by BIG_Sync_Delay. The value of BIG_Sync_Delay must be equal to the time from the anchor point to the BIG synchronization point, which is the end of the packet containing the payload of Max_PDU octets transmitted in the last subevent. Therefore, BIG_Sync_Delay is equal to (Num_BIS - 1) * BIS_Spacing + (NSE - 1) * Sub_Interval + MPT.

[0146] FIG. 6 is a diagram for explaining the allocation of payloads of BIS according to one embodiment.

[0147] Referring to FIG. 6, (a) illustrates BIS payload allocation when BN=2, IRC=2, PTO=0, NSE=4, (b) illustrates BIS payload allocation when BN=1, IRC=3, PTO=2, NSE=5, and (c) illustrates BIS payload allocation when BN=2, IRC=2, PTO=4, NSE=6.

[0148] A BIS subevent is an opportunity for an isochronous broadcaster (e.g., an isochronous broadcasting device) to transmit a broadcast isochronous BIS PDU, which can be received by a synchronized receiver. The link layer must transmit one BIS data PDU at the start of each subevent of an isochronous broadcasting event, unless there is a scheduling conflict, or at least one BIS data PDU within six consecutive BIS events.

[0149] Even if a BIS data PDU cannot be transmitted, the link layer must behave as if all other purposes (e.g., packet timing, payload selection) have been completed. For each BIS event, the data source must provide a data burst consisting of a payload of burst numbers (BNs), each of which may contain a single fragment or one or more SDU segments. These data bursts are associated with the corresponding BIS event, but may also be transmitted by earlier events. Each PDU containing a given payload has the same logical link identifier (LLID) value, but may have different control subevent sequence numbers (CSSNs) and control subevent sequence transmission flags (CSTFs). Note that a data burst associated with a BIS event consists of a payload of bisPayloadCounter, which is between bigEventCounter * BN and (bigEventCounter + 1) * BN - 1.

[0150] The sub-events of each BIS event are each divided into groups of BN sub-events. Therefore, the group count (GC) group is CG = NSE / BN. The immediate repetition count (IRC) specifies the number of groups carrying data related to the current BIS event. The remaining groups carry data related to future BIS events specified by the pre-transmission offset (PTO). IRC must be greater than 0 and not greater than GC. If IRC = GC, PTO must be ignored. Otherwise, PTO must be greater than 0. The groups of sub-events are numbered sequentially using g, from 0 to GC - 1.

[0151] - If g < IRC, group g must contain data related to the current BIS event.

[0152] - If g >= IRC, group g must contain data related to future BIS events PTO * (g - IRC + 1) BIS events after the current BIS event.

[0153] The payloads of each data burst must always be transmitted in the same order. Note that setting GC to a value greater than 1 provides redundant transmissions to compensate for the lack of acknowledgment during broadcasts, while setting PTO to a non-zero value (e.g., pre_transmission) provides significant time variability in redundant copies of data.

[0154] When the link layer schedules a BIG Control PDU to be transmitted in a BIG event, it sets the CSTF bit to 1 in the headers of all BIS data PDUs transmitted in that BIG event, otherwise it sets the bit to 0, and sets the CSTF bit to 0 in the headers of all BIG Control PDUs. The CSSN values of all BIS PDUs in a BIG event must be identical. The link layer shall increment the CSSN by 1 when a BIG event that includes the initial transmission of a new BIG Control PDU begins and shall not change the CSSN (e.g., if the BIG Control PDU is being retransmitted or is not scheduled to be transmitted). Note that a synchronized receiver can use the CSSN to determine whether a BIG Control PDU is a retransmission of a PDU it has already received.

[0155] FIG. 7 is a diagram for explaining an operation for assisting in transmitting an advertisement signal for a BIS service according to one embodiment.

[0156] Referring to FIG. 7, an electronic device (701) transmits information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service to a first external electronic device (703). The first external electronic device (703) receiving this broadcasts the advertising signal on behalf of the electronic device (701), and a second external electronic device (705) can receive data by performing synchronization with the electronic device (701) based on the advertising signal broadcast by the first external electronic device (703).

[0157] Here, the electronic device (701) is a BIS (broadcast isochronous stream) source device that provides a BIS service, and may be, for example, a portable communication device (e.g., a smartphone), a computer device, a portable multimedia device, a portable medical device, a camera, a wearable device, or a home appliance device (e.g., a TV, an audio device). The electronic device (701) may be the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1 and / or the electronic device (201) of FIG. 2. In addition, the electronic device (701) may be a device that forms a BIG (broadcast isochronous group) and streams audio, or an electronic device (e.g., a TW (true wireless) device, a headset) that acts as a sink may become a BIS source device itself and transmit audio data to devices participating in the same BIG. However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the electronic device (701) may include various electronic devices.

[0158] The first external electronic device (703) is a device that broadcasts an advertising signal on behalf of the electronic device (701), and may be, for example, a portable communication device (e.g., a smart phone), a portable multimedia device, a wearable device, a tablet, a smart watch, a smart things station, a dongle, or a cradle of the electronic device (701), or a cradle of the second external electronic device (705). In addition, the first external electronic device (703) may be a device that performs a BIS assistant role, for example, a smart phone, a Bluetooth device that simply forms a communication link, one device of a TWS (true wireless stereo) device, a cradle of the TWS device, or a hub device for assisting the transmission of advertising signals of BIS source devices within the same space. However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the first external electronic device (703) may include various electronic devices.

[0159] The second external electronic device (705) is a BIS sync device that receives BIS services and may include a TW (true wireless) device, wireless earbuds, a Bluetooth speaker, or a headset. The second external electronic device (705) may be the electronic device (102) or the electronic device (104) of FIG. 1 . In addition, the second external electronic device (705) may be a device that performs a BIS assistant role. However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the second external electronic device (705) may include various electronic devices.

[0160] In one embodiment, the electronic device (701) broadcasts an advertising signal including information about data to be broadcast (e.g., audio data) and performs BIS streaming based on BIG information included in the advertising signal. Here, the advertising signal is a signal for synchronizing a BIS service and may include an EA (extended advertising) signal and / or a PA (periodical advertising) signal. In one embodiment of the present disclosure, transmission of the advertising signal may mean broadcasting of the advertising signal. For example, transmission of the EA (extended advertising) signal and / or the PA (periodical advertising) signal may mean broadcasting of the EA signal and / or the PA signal.

[0161] In order to provide a BIS service, the electronic device (701) broadcasts an EA signal at every advertising interval. The electronic device (701) must broadcast a PA signal at every fixed cycle indicated by the PA synchronization information included in the ACAD (additional controller advertising information) field of the EA packet, and broadcast data (e.g., sound source data) to a BIS channel within the BIG group at every ISO interval.

[0162] Since BIS operates as a unidirectional broadcast channel and there is no acknowledgment operation for data transmission, data should be transmitted by maximizing the number of sub events (NSE) assigned to the BIS channel within a given BIG group to prevent BIS data missing of the second external electronic device (705) receiving it. If the BIS event section overlaps with the EA signal transmission section and / or the PA signal transmission section within the ISO interval, the advertising signal may not be broadcast.

[0163] In addition, since the electronic device (701) may be connected to other devices or other Bluetooth operations may be scheduled, there may be cases where the EA signal cannot be broadcast at the set advertising interval or the PA signal cannot be broadcast at the fixed cycle indicated by the PA synchronization information. In particular, in the case of the EA signal, the interval set by the host can be dynamically adjusted depending on the implementation of the Bluetooth controller (BT controller), but in the case of the PA signal, there is a constraint that the fixed cycle indicated by the PA synchronization information must be observed. Therefore, if there is a case where broadcasting cannot be performed at the fixed cycle indicated by the PA synchronization information due to another task, the PA signal can be broadcast only in the next cycle or the cycle after that.

[0164] The second external electronic device (705) can receive a PA signal, obtain BIG synchronization information, and receive data (e.g., sound source data) transmitted by the electronic device (701) by synchronizing to a BIS channel based on the BIG synchronization information. At this time, the second external electronic device (705) can obtain PA information from a BIS assistant device (e.g., the first external electronic device (703)) through LL_PERIODIC_SYNC_IND, and receive a PA broadcasted by the electronic device (701) based on the PA information. More specifically, the second external electronic device (705) can obtain PA synchronization information through LL_PERIODIC_SYNC_IND, and receive a PA broadcasted by the electronic device (701) based on the PA synchronization information. As described above, if the electronic device (701) is unable to broadcast an advertising signal due to internal scheduling or is unable to receive an advertising signal due to the influence of the usage environment of the second external electronic device (705), and thus synchronization with the BIS channel is delayed, it may take a long time for the user of the second external electronic device (705) to hear the sound source, and if synchronization is not performed within the set timeout time, a PA Timeout may also occur.

[0165] In one embodiment of the present disclosure, an advertisement signal transmission performed by an electronic device (701) may be broadcast with assistance from a first external electronic device (703). A second external electronic device (705) may receive the advertisement signal broadcast by the first external electronic device (703) and synchronize the transmission with the BIS channel of the electronic device (701).

[0166] Referring to FIG. 7, an electronic device (701) operates as a BIS source device that provides a BIS service. When multiple source devices (source 1, source 2, source 3, source 4) exist, each of the multiple source devices (source 1, source 2, source 3, source 4) may individually perform BIS streaming. One source device may generate multiple BIS streamings and form one BIG to transmit synchronized BIS streams. At this time, the BIS stream may be broadcast. In one embodiment of the present disclosure, transmission of a BIS (broadcast isochronous stream) stream may mean broadcasting of the BIS stream. Here, broadcasting of the BIS stream may mean transmitting or broadcasting data based on the BIS stream. More specifically, it may mean transmitting or broadcasting a BIS packet, a BIS PDU (protocol data unit), data, sound source data, etc. through the BIS stream.

[0167] An electronic device (701) providing a BIS service must broadcast an advertising signal to synchronize a second external electronic device (705). However, for various reasons, such as limited wireless resources, scheduling constraints within the electronic device (701), or rapid synchronization, the electronic device (701) may request assistance in transmitting the advertising signal for the BIS service from the first external electronic device (703). For example, the electronic device (701) may request the first external electronic device (703) to broadcast the advertising signal on its behalf. In one embodiment, the electronic device (701) may transmit advertising information to the first external electronic device (703) to assist in transmitting the advertising signal. When there are multiple source devices (source 1, source 2, source 3, source 4), each of the multiple source devices (source 1, source 2, source 3, source 4) can individually transmit information about advertising signals (source 1 advertising information, source 2 advertising information, source 3 advertising information, source 4 advertising information) to the first external electronic device (703).

[0168] In one embodiment, a first external electronic device (703) that receives advertising information from an electronic device (701) may broadcast an advertising signal that the electronic device (701) should broadcast based on the advertising information. When there are multiple source devices (source 1, source 2, source 3, source 4), the first external electronic device (703) may broadcast an advertising signal that each source device should broadcast (source 1 advertising, source 2 advertising, source 3 advertising, source 4 advertising). The first external electronic device (703) may individually broadcast an advertising signal for each source device, or may form a BIG to broadcast advertising signals for synchronized BIS streams.

[0169] The second external electronic device (705) can receive the advertisement signal broadcast by the first external electronic device (703) to obtain synchronization information and perform synchronization on the BIS channel broadcast by the electronic device (701). Thereafter, the second external electronic device (705) can receive the BIS stream from the electronic device (701) and play audio data. In one embodiment, there may be a plurality of second external electronic devices (705). At this time, the plurality of second external electronic devices (705) may receive the same BIS stream or may receive different BIS streams.

[0170] According to one embodiment, by assisting the first external electronic device (703) in transmitting an advertisement signal performed by the electronic device (701), the resources of the electronic device (701) can be flexibly managed, and fast BIS synchronization of the second external electronic device (705) can be provided, thereby improving audio quality.

[0171] Although the operation for four source devices is described as an example in FIG. 7, this is not limited to this, and the number of source devices may vary. For example, the number of source devices may be less than or more than four.

[0172] Below, a more specific description will be given of an auxiliary method and device for transmitting an advertising signal for a BIS service according to one embodiment.

For example, the electronic device (800) may determine that assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal is necessary when receiving user input during BIG generation or during BIS service-related operations by generating a BIG; when scheduling other BT tasks such as LE scan, paging, inquiry, or inquiry scan during the BIS service overlaps with the scheduling of other BT tasks, such as LE scan, paging, inquiry, or inquiry scan; when an external LE, BR (basic rate) / EDR (enhanced data rate) link is generated and the corresponding operation section overlaps or needs to be prepared for the case where it overlaps with the broadcasting time of an EA signal and / or PA signal; when the battery level of the electronic device (800) is lower than a predetermined value or when broadcasting is not possible in some sections due to the influence of WiFi COEX (coexistence). When the electronic device (800) determines that assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal is necessary, operation 1110 may be performed.

[0203] In one embodiment, the advertising signal may include an extended advertising (EA) signal and / or a periodic advertising (PA) signal, which is a signal for synchronizing the BIS service. The electronic device (800) may request assistance in transmitting advertising signals for the entire section or a portion of the section for the EA signal and / or the PA signal.

[0204] In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may form an external link with a first external electronic device (900) through a physical channel such as an LE, BR / EDR link, or WiIFi, and communicate with the first external electronic device (900) through the formed external link.

[0205] In operation 1115, the first external electronic device (900) may transmit an accept message for operation 1110, which is a request for assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal for a BIS service, to the electronic device (800). In one embodiment, operation 1115 may be omitted.

[0206] In operation 1120, the electronic device (800) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service to a first external electronic device (900). The electronic device (800) may transmit information necessary for the first external electronic device (900) to broadcast the advertising signal on behalf of the first external electronic device (900). In one embodiment, the information about the advertising signal may include at least one of information related to a BIS service, extended advertising (EA) information, periodic advertising (PA) information, or broadcast isochronous group (BIG) synchronization information. More specifically, the information about the advertising signal may include ADV_EXT_IND and AUX_ADV_IND information of an EA signal, and / or AUX_SYNC_IND information of a PA signal.

[0207] In one embodiment, operation 1115 may be omitted, and operations 1110 and 1120 may be performed as a single operation. For example, the electronic device (800) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service, along with a request for assistance in transmitting an advertising signal for a BIS service, to the first external electronic device (900).

[0208] In operation 1130, the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the first external electronic device (900) regarding assistance in transmitting the advertisement signal based on information about the advertisement signal. In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the first external electronic device (900) regarding at least one of the type of the advertisement signal, the assistance time, and the assistance form for assistance in transmitting the advertisement signal. Here, the type of the advertising signal includes an EA signal and a PA signal, the auxiliary time includes at least a part of the BIS service period, a period determined by a preset algorithm, and a period in which the electronic device cannot broadcast the advertising signal, and the auxiliary form may include a first auxiliary form in which the first external electronic device (900) broadcasts at least one or more of the EA signal and PA signal that are identical to the EA signal and PA signal of the electronic device (800), and a second auxiliary form in which the first external electronic device (900) generates and broadcasts at least one or more of the EA signal and PA signal that include the same BIG synchronization information as the BIG synchronization information included in the EA signal and PA signal of the electronic device (800).

[0209] In one embodiment, the negotiation for assistance in transmitting advertisement signals between the electronic device (800) and the first external electronic device (900) may be in the form that the electronic device (800) first transmits necessary operations to the first external electronic device (900) and the first external electronic device (900) accepts operations that can be performed, or the first external electronic device (900) first transmits possible operations to the electronic device (800) and the electronic device (800) selects necessary operations, or the electronic device (800) and the first external electronic device (900) exchange necessary matters and possible operations and select overlapping operations. However, this negotiation process is merely an example and is not limited thereto, and the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the first external electronic device (900) in various forms.

[0210] In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may negotiate with each first external electronic device (900) for assistance in transmitting an advertising signal, if there are multiple first external electronic devices (900).

[0211] In operation 1135, the first external electronic device (900) may receive an accept message regarding the negotiation result for assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal from the electronic device (800). In one embodiment, operation 1135 may be omitted.

[0212] In operation 1140, the electronic device (800) may transmit information related to assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal to the first external electronic device (900). In one embodiment, the information related to assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal may include time information for starting assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal. For example, the electronic device (800) may transmit information including a timing instant value to the first external electronic device (900) to determine the timing at which the first external electronic device (900) will start assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal. In addition, the electronic device (800) may also transmit a BIS event start time and BIG synchronization information to the first external electronic device (900).

[0213] In one embodiment, operation 1135 may be omitted, and operation 1140 may be performed after operation 1130 is completed. For example, when negotiation with the first external electronic device (900) is completed, the electronic device (800) may transmit information related to assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal to the first external electronic device (900).

[0214] In operation 1150, the first external electronic device (900) may start assisting the transmission of an advertisement signal based on information related to assistance of advertisement signal transmission received from the electronic device (800). In one embodiment, the first external electronic device (900) may start assisting the transmission of an advertisement signal based on time information for starting assistance of advertisement signal transmission received, for example, a timing instant value. In addition, the electronic device (800) may broadcast an EA signal and / or a PA signal for a certain period of time even after completing negotiation with the first external electronic device (900) in operation 1130, and the first external electronic device (900) may scan the EA signal and / or PA signal broadcasted by the electronic device (800) to determine at which channel sequence and at which timing an advertisement signal to be assisted in broadcasting should be broadcast, and then start assisting the transmission of an advertisement signal.

[0215] In operation 1161, the first external electronic device (900) may broadcast an EA signal, and in operation 1162, the first external electronic device (900) may broadcast a PA signal. However, in operation 1130, depending on the negotiation result, it is also possible to broadcast only one of the EA signal or the PA signal, and it is also possible to broadcast an advertisement signal in the entire section or a part of the section. In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may refrain from transmitting an advertisement signal, and the first electronic device (900) may transmit an advertisement signal as in operations 1161 and 1162.

[0216] Additionally, in one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service in advance to the first external electronic device (900). At this time, the first external electronic device (900) may assist in transmitting the advertising signal directly without a negotiation process with the electronic device (800) based on an external input (e.g., a user's touch input, a button input, an input of a specific action, or an input through a linked application) or a predetermined condition. For example, the advertising signal may be broadcast directly. At this time, the first external electronic device (900) may include a Bluetooth device such as a dongle, or may include a cradle of a TW device including a Bluetooth chip. According to the method of FIG. 11, the first electronic device (900) is set by the electronic device (800), which may not broadcast an advertising signal because the electronic device (800) may be occupied with a connection to another device or another scheduled Bluetooth operation. Consequently, the second electronic device(s) (1000) may be synchronized to the BIS more quickly.

[0217] FIG. 12 is a flowchart illustrating an operation method for assisting in transmitting an advertisement signal for a BIS service according to one embodiment.

[0218] Referring to FIG. 12, the electronic device (800) performs auxiliary operations of transmitting advertising signals for BIS services with two first external electronic devices, for example, first external electronic device #1 (901) and first external electronic device #2 (902).

[0219] In operation 1210, the electronic device (800) may transmit a request for assistance in transmitting an advertising signal for a BIS (broadcast isochronous stream) service to the first external electronic device #1 (901). In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may determine whether assistance in transmitting the advertising signal is necessary based on at least one of an external input, available wireless resources, and a wireless environment while performing the BIS service. For example, the electronic device (800) may determine whether assistance in transmitting the advertising signal is necessary based on at least one of a user input, a preset policy for wireless resources, external interference or noise, or scheduling of the electronic device (800). The electronic device (800) may determine that assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal is necessary when receiving user input during BIG generation or during BIS service-related operations by generating a BIG, when overlapping with scheduling of other BT tasks such as LE scan, paging, inquiry, and inquiry scan during the BIS service, when an external LE, BR (basic rate) / EDR (enhanced data rate) link is generated and the corresponding operation section overlaps or needs to be prepared for the case where it overlaps with the broadcasting time of an EA signal and / or PA signal, or when broadcasting is not possible in some sections due to the influence of WiFi COEX (coexistence). When the electronic device (800) determines that assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal is necessary, operation 1210 may be performed.

[0220] In one embodiment, the advertising signal may include an extended advertising (EA) signal and / or a periodic advertising (PA) signal, which is a signal for synchronizing the BIS service. The electronic device (800) may request assistance in transmitting advertising signals for the entire section or a portion of the section for the EA signal and / or the PA signal.

[0221] In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may form a first external link #1 with the first external electronic device #1 (901) through a physical channel such as an LE, BR / EDR link, or WiFi, and communicate with the first external electronic device #1 (901) through the formed first external link #1.

[0222] In operation 1215, the first external electronic device #1 (901) may transmit an accept message to the electronic device (800) for a request to assist in transmitting an advertisement signal for a BIS service. In one embodiment, operation 1215 may be omitted.

[0223] In operation 1220, the electronic device (800) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service to the first external electronic device #1 (901). The electronic device (800) may transmit, to the first external electronic device #1 (901), information necessary for the first external electronic device #1 (901) to transmit the advertising signal on its behalf.

[0224] In one embodiment, operation 1215 may be omitted, and operations 1210 and 1220 may be performed as a single operation. For example, the electronic device (800) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service, along with a request for assistance in transmitting an advertising signal for a BIS service, to the first external electronic device #1 (901).

[0225] In operation 1230, the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the first external electronic device #1 (901) for assistance in transmitting the advertisement signal based on information about the advertisement signal. In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the first external electronic device #1 (901) for at least one of the type of the advertisement signal, the assistance time, and the assistance form for assistance in transmitting the advertisement signal. Here, the type of the advertising signal includes an EA signal and a PA signal, the auxiliary time includes at least a part of the BIS service period, a period determined by a preset algorithm, and a period in which the electronic device cannot broadcast the advertising signal, and the auxiliary form may include a first auxiliary form in which the first external electronic device #1 (901) broadcasts at least one or more of the EA signal and the PA signal that are identical to the EA signal and the PA signal of the electronic device (800), and a second auxiliary form in which the first external electronic device #1 (901) generates and broadcasts at least one or more of the EA signal and the PA signal that include the same BIG synchronization information as the BIG synchronization information included in the EA signal and the PA signal of the electronic device (800).

[0226] In one embodiment, the negotiation for assistance in transmitting advertisement signals between the electronic device (800) and the first external electronic device #1 (901) may be in the form that the electronic device (800) first transmits necessary operations to the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #1 (901) accepts operations that can be performed, or the first external electronic device #1 (901) first transmits possible operations to the electronic device (800) and the electronic device (800) selects necessary operations, or the electronic device (800) and the first external electronic device #1 (901) exchange necessary matters and possible operations and select overlapping operations. However, this negotiation process is merely an example and is not limited thereto, and the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the first external electronic device #1 (901) in various forms.

[0227] When performing negotiation with the first external electronic device #1 (901), the electronic device (800) may perform the negotiation while taking the first external electronic device #2 (902) into consideration. For example, the electronic device (800) may perform the negotiation while taking into consideration a situation in which the first external electronic device #1 (901) broadcasts an EA signal and the first external electronic device #2 (902) broadcasts a PA signal.

[0228] In operation 1235, the first external electronic device #1 (901) may receive an accept message regarding the negotiation result for assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal to the electronic device (800). In one embodiment, operation 1235 may be omitted.

[0229] In operation 1240, the electronic device (800) may transmit a request for assistance in transmitting an advertising signal for a broadcast isochronous stream (BIS) service to a first external electronic device #2 (902). The electronic device (800) may determine that assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal is necessary when receiving user input during BIG generation or during BIS service-related operations by generating a BIG, when overlapping with scheduling of other BT tasks such as LE scan, paging, inquiry, and inquiry scan during the BIS service, when an external LE, BR (basic rate) / EDR (enhanced data rate) link is generated and the corresponding operation section overlaps or needs to be prepared for a case where it overlaps with the broadcasting time of an EA signal and / or PA signal, or when broadcasting is not possible in some sections due to the influence of WiFi COEX (coexistence). When the electronic device (800) determines that assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal is necessary, operation 1240 may be performed.

[0230] In one embodiment, the advertising signal is a signal for synchronizing the BIS service, and includes an extended advertising (EA) signal and / or a periodic advertising (PA) signal. The electronic device (800) may request assistance in transmitting advertising signals for the entire section or a portion of the section for the EA signal and / or the PA signal.

[0231] In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may form a first external link #2 with the first external electronic device #2 (902) through a physical channel such as an LE, BR / EDR link, or WiFi, and communicate with the first external electronic device #2 (902) through the formed first external link #2.

[0232] In operation 1245, the first external electronic device #2 (902) may transmit an accept message to the electronic device (800) for a request to assist in transmitting an advertisement signal for a BIS service. In one embodiment, operation 1245 may be omitted.

[0233] In operation 1250, the electronic device (800) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service to the first external electronic device #2 (902). The electronic device (800) may transmit information necessary for the first external electronic device #2 (902) to broadcast the advertising signal on its behalf to the first external electronic device #2 (902). In one embodiment, the information about the advertising signal may include at least one of information related to the BIS service, extended advertising (EA) information, periodic advertising (PA) information, or broadcast isochronous group (BIG) synchronization information. More specifically, the information about the advertising signal may include ADV_EXT_IND and AUX_ADV_IND information of an EA signal, and / or AUX_SYNC_IND information of a PA signal.

[0234] In one embodiment, operation 1245 may be omitted, and operations 1240 and 1250 may be performed as a single operation. For example, the electronic device (800) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service, along with a request for assistance in transmitting an advertising signal for a BIS service, to the first external electronic device #2 (902).

[0235] In operation 1260, the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the first external electronic device #2 (902) for assistance in transmitting the advertisement signal based on information about the advertisement signal. In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the first external electronic device #2 (902) for at least one of the type of the advertisement signal, the assistance time, and the assistance form for assistance in transmitting the advertisement signal. Here, the type of the advertising signal includes an EA signal and / or a PA signal, the auxiliary time includes at least a part of the BIS service period, a period determined by a preset algorithm, and a period in which the electronic device cannot broadcast the advertising signal, and the auxiliary form may include a first auxiliary form in which the first external electronic device #2 (902) broadcasts at least one or more of the EA signal and the PA signal that are identical to the EA signal and the PA signal of the electronic device (800), and a second auxiliary form in which the first external electronic device #2 (902) generates and broadcasts at least one or more of the EA signal and the PA signal that include the same BIG synchronization information as the BIG synchronization information included in the EA signal and the PA signal of the electronic device (800).

[0236] In one embodiment, the negotiation for assistance in transmitting advertisement signals between the electronic device (800) and the first external electronic device #2 (902) may be in the form that the electronic device (800) first transmits necessary operations to the first external electronic device #2 (902) and the first external electronic device #2 (902) accepts operations that can be performed, or the first external electronic device #2 (902) first transmits possible operations to the electronic device (800) and the electronic device (800) selects necessary operations, or the electronic device (800) and the first external electronic device #2 (902) exchange necessary matters and possible operations and select overlapping operations. However, this negotiation process is merely an example and is not limited thereto, and the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the first external electronic device #2 (902) in various forms.

[0237] When performing negotiation with the first external electronic device #2 (902), the electronic device (800) may perform the negotiation while taking the first external electronic device #1 (901) into consideration. For example, the electronic device (800) may perform the negotiation while taking into consideration a situation in which the first external electronic device #1 (901) broadcasts an EA signal and the first external electronic device #2 (902) broadcasts a PA signal.

[0238] In operation 1265, the first external electronic device #2 (902) may receive an accept message regarding the negotiation result for assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal to the electronic device (800). In one embodiment, operation 1265 may be omitted.

[0239] Although FIG. 12 illustrates that negotiation for the first external electronic device #2 (902) is performed after negotiation for the first external electronic device #1 (901), this is merely an example, and negotiations with multiple first external electronic devices can be performed in various ways. It is also possible for negotiations for the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902) of the electronic device (800) to be performed in parallel. For example, some of operations 1210 to 1235 and operations 1240 to 1265 may be performed simultaneously.

[0240] As shown in FIG. 12, when there are two or more first external electronic devices (e.g., first external electronic device #1 (901), first external electronic device #2 (902)), one of the first external electronic devices (e.g., first external electronic device #1 (901) or first external electronic device #2 (902)) may be given priority for negotiation. The electronic device (800) may determine which of the two or more first external electronic devices (e.g., first external electronic device #1 (901), first external electronic device #2 (902)) may be given priority for negotiation based on at least one of the most recently connected or reversed connection order, the order of good signal RSSI sensitivity of the connected devices, the order of low resource occupancy of packets exchanged through each first external link, and available resource information of each external electronic device received in advance through each first external link. Additionally, if there are two or more connected first external links and all external electronic devices connected to each external link are capable of assisting in transmitting advertising signals, negotiations may be made to assist in transmitting each EA signal or PA signal for each device.

[0241] In operation 1271, the electronic device (800) may transmit information related to assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal to the first external electronic device #1 (901). Furthermore, in operation 1272, the electronic device (800) may transmit information related to assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal to the first external electronic device #2 (902). In one embodiment, the information related to assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal may include time information for starting assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal. For example, the electronic device (800) may transmit information including a timing instant value to the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902) to determine a timing at which the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902) start assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal. Additionally, the electronic device (800) may transmit the BIS event start time and / or BIG synchronization information to the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902).

[0242] In one embodiment, the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902) may start assisting the transmission of the advertisement signal based on time information, for example, a timing instant value, for starting assistance of the transmission of the advertisement signal received. In addition, the electronic device (800) may broadcast an EA signal and / or a PA signal for a certain period of time even after completing negotiation with the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902), and the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902) may scan the EA signal and / or the PA signal broadcast by the electronic device (800) to determine at which channel sequence and at which timing the advertisement signal to be assisted in broadcasting should be transmitted, and then start assisting the transmission of the advertisement signal.

[0243] In one embodiment, at least some of operations 1235 and 1265 may be omitted, and operations 1271 and 1272 may be performed after operations 1230 and 1260 are completed. For example, when negotiations with the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902) are completed, the electronic device (800) may transmit information related to assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal to the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902).

[0244] In operation 1281, the first external electronic device #1 (901) may initiate assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal based on information related to assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal received from the electronic device (800). In operation 1291, the first external electronic device #1 (901) may broadcast an EA signal.

[0245] In operation 1282, the first external electronic device #2 (902) may initiate assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal based on information related to assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal received from the electronic device (800). In operation 1292, the first external electronic device #2 (902) may broadcast a PA signal. That is, the advertisement set for the first external electronic device #1 (901) may be different from the advertisement set for the first external electronic device #2 (902). This allows for greater flexibility in setting and broadcasting advertisement signals.

[0246] However, depending on the negotiation results in the 1230 and 1260 operations, the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902) may each broadcast only one of the EA signal or the PA signal, or may broadcast the advertising signal in the entire section or a part of the section.

[0247] FIG. 13 is a flowchart illustrating an operation method for assisting in transmitting an advertisement signal for a BIS service according to one embodiment.

[0248] Referring to FIG. 13, when an electronic device (800) and a plurality of first external electronic devices, for example, a first external electronic device #1 (901) and a first external electronic device #2 (902), are registered with the same account in an account server (1300), an operation of assisting transmission of an advertisement signal for a BIS service using the account server (1300) is described. In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) and the plurality of first external electronic devices may be connected to the account server (1300) via a wired or wireless network (e.g., a cellular network, WiFi). The account server (1300) can centralize negotiations for assisting transmission of advertisement signals, thereby making it easier and faster to determine which device will transmit which advertisement signal.

[0249] In operation 1311, the first external electronic device #1 (901) may transmit auxiliary capability information of advertisement signal transmission to the account server (1300). In addition, in operation 1312, the first external electronic device #2 (902) transmits auxiliary capability information of advertisement signal transmission to the account server (1300). In one embodiment, the auxiliary capability information of advertisement signal transmission may include information on whether assistance of advertisement signal transmission is possible and information on available resources. In one embodiment, the account server (1300) may set a time interval for receiving auxiliary capability information of advertisement signal transmission from a plurality of first external electronic devices, and may receive auxiliary capability information of advertisement signal transmission during the corresponding time interval. In addition, in one embodiment, the auxiliary capability information of advertisement signal transmission may be updated periodically.

[0250] In operation 1320, the account server (1300) may transmit information about the first external electronic devices to the electronic device (800). The account server (1300) may transmit auxiliary capability information of advertisement signal transmission received from a plurality of first external electronic devices to the electronic device (800). In one embodiment, the account server (1300) may transmit auxiliary capability information of advertisement signal transmission received from a plurality of first external electronic devices to the electronic device (800) based on a request of the electronic device (800). In one embodiment, the account server (1300) may periodically update auxiliary capability information of advertisement signal transmission of the electronic device (800) and / or the plurality of first external electronic devices registered under the same account to the electronic device (800) and / or the plurality of first external electronic devices.

[0251] At operation 1330, the electronic device (800) can start the BIS service.

[0252] In operation 1340, the electronic device (800) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service to the account server (1300). The electronic device (800) may transmit information that the account server (1300) must transmit to a plurality of first external electronic devices to the account server (1300).

[0253] In operation 1341, the account server (1300) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service received from the electronic device (800) to the first external electronic device #1 (901). Furthermore, in operation 1342, the account server (1300) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service received from the electronic device (800) to the first external electronic device #2 (902).

[0254] In operation 1350, the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the account server (1300) other than the first external device that broadcasts the advertisement signal on its behalf regarding assistance in transmitting the advertisement signal and may negotiate to select an assistance device for transmitting the advertisement signal. The electronic device (800) may negotiate with the account server (1300) regarding assistance in transmitting the advertisement signal based on information about the advertisement signal. In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the account server (1300) regarding at least one of the type of the advertisement signal, the assistance time, and the assistance form for assistance in transmitting the advertisement signal.

[0255] In one embodiment, when there are multiple first external electronic devices, the account server (1300) can negotiate with a first external electronic device in the same space that can assist in transmitting advertisement signals of the electronic device (800). In addition, when there are multiple first external electronic devices, negotiation can be performed by selecting one first external electronic device according to preset criteria or user input. The preset criteria may include distance from the electronic device (800), available resources, order of registration with the account server (1300), order of most recent connection, or name order. However, these criteria are merely examples, and various criteria may be set. In addition, negotiation can be performed to assist in transmitting EA signals and PA signals for each first external electronic device. In FIG. 12, it is assumed that the first external electronic device #1 (901) is selected as a device to assist in transmitting advertisement signals.

[0256] In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) and the account server (1300) may determine a predetermined time at which the electronic device (800) should broadcast an advertisement signal when performing negotiation. When using the account server (1300), unlike a Bluetooth link, it may be difficult to accurately calculate a timing instant value. Therefore, the electronic device (800) may broadcast an EA signal and / or a PA signal for a predetermined time even after negotiation is completed, and the first external electronic device (900) may scan the EA signal and / or PA signal broadcast by the electronic device (800) to determine in which channel sequence and at which timing the advertisement signal to be assisted in broadcasting should be broadcast, and then may start assisting in transmitting the advertisement signal. At this time, since the time at which the first external electronic device (900) must broadcast an advertisement signal is determined during the negotiation process, unlike the embodiments illustrated in FIGS. 11 and 12, the electronic device (800) may omit the operation of transmitting time information to the first external electronic device (900) to start assisting in transmitting the advertisement signal.

[0257] In operation 1360, the account server (1300) may transmit the negotiation result to the selected first external electronic device #1 (901).

[0258] In operation 1361, the first external electronic device #1 (901) may transmit an accept message regarding the negotiation result to the account server (1300), and in operation 1362, the account server (1300) may transmit an accept message regarding the negotiation result to the electronic device (800). In one embodiment, operations 1361 and 1362 may be omitted.

[0259] Thereafter, the electronic device (800) may broadcast an advertising signal for a predetermined period of time determined during the negotiation process. The electronic device (800) may broadcast an EA signal in operation 1371 and a PA signal in operation 1372.

[0260] In operation 1380, the first external electronic device #1 (901) may initiate assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal based on the negotiation result. The first external electronic device #1 (901) may broadcast an EA signal based on the negotiation result in operation 1381, and may broadcast a PA signal based on the negotiation result in operation 1382. Alternatively, the first external electronic device #1 (901) may broadcast only one of the EA signal or the PA signal based on the negotiation result, and may also broadcast the advertisement signal in the entire section or a part of the section.

[0261] Additionally, in one embodiment, while the first external electronic device #1 (901) is assisting in transmitting an advertisement signal for the electronic device (800), an additional electronic device linked to the same account may create a new BIS in the middle to add information about the advertisement signal to the account server (1300). At this time, since the first external electronic device #1 (901) is already assisting in transmitting an advertisement signal for the electronic device (800) linked to the same account, the first external electronic device #1 (901) may start assisting in transmitting an advertisement signal for the added electronic device without a negotiation procedure. More specifically, since the first external electronic device #1 (901) has already performed negotiation for the account linked to the electronic device (800), the first external electronic device #1 (901) may scan the EA signal and / or PA signal for a predetermined period of time to determine at which channel sequence and at which timing the advertisement signal to be assisted in broadcasting should be broadcast, and then start assisting in transmitting the advertisement signal without a negotiation procedure. However, depending on the settings, assistance in transmitting advertising signals may not be provided for newly added electronic devices in the middle.

[0262] Fig. 14 is a drawing for explaining an advertising signal transmission method according to one embodiment.

[0263] As described above, after completing negotiation with the electronic device (800), the first external electronic device (900) may start assisting advertisement signal transmission based on information related to assistance in advertisement signal transmission received from the electronic device (800). In one embodiment, the first external electronic device (900) may start assisting advertisement signal transmission based on time information for starting assistance in advertisement signal transmission received, for example, a timing instant value. Depending on the negotiation result, the first external electronic device (900) may broadcast only one of the EA signal or the PA signal, and may also broadcast the advertisement signal in the entire section or a part of the section. For example, the first external electronic device (900) may broadcast the advertisement signal only in the promised section. The electronic device (800) may stop broadcasting the advertisement signal in the promised section in which the first external electronic device (900) assists in advertisement signal broadcasting, or may continue to broadcast the advertisement signal. However, in order to prevent collision of the same signal, it would be desirable for the electronic device (800) to stop broadcasting the advertising signal during the promised section.

[0264] In one embodiment, the first external electronic device (900) may broadcast an advertising signal only in a period promised by mathematical calculation, or may broadcast an advertising signal only in a period defined by a combination of RSSI strength and surrounding RF environment conditions. Referring to FIG. 14, the first external electronic device (900) assists in broadcasting only the PA signal among the advertising signals. In addition, the electronic device (800) may directly broadcast the PA signal in the 3n (n=0, 1, 2, ...) ISO interval periods, and the first external electronic device (900) may broadcast only the PA signal instead in the remaining ISO interval periods excluding 3n. The assisting method for transmitting an advertising signal illustrated in FIG. 14 is an example, and the promised period may be set in various ways without being limited thereto. For example, it is possible for the first external electronic device (900) to broadcast an advertising signal in even-numbered ISO interval sections, and for the electronic device (800) to broadcast an advertising signal in odd-numbered ISO interval sections. In addition, although FIG. 14 illustrates that the first external electronic device (900) broadcasts only a PA signal, it may instead broadcast only an EA signal, or it may instead broadcast both an EA signal and a PA signal.

[0265] The second external electronic device (1000) can receive the EA signal and the PA signal and synchronize them to the BIS channel. In one embodiment, the EA signal and / or the PA signal broadcast by the electronic device (800) and the EA signal and / or the PA signal broadcast by the first external electronic device (900) that assists in transmitting the advertisement signal of the electronic device (800) can be configured identically. Accordingly, the second external electronic device (1000) can synchronize to the BIS channel of the electronic device (800) regardless of whether the EA signal and the PA signal are broadcast from the electronic device (800) or the first external electronic device (900).

[0266] In one embodiment, the advertising signal transmission period and timing of the first external electronic device (900) described above may be determined based on the information received by the first external electronic device (900) according to the settings regarding the advertising signal for the BIS service, or may be determined during a negotiation process between the first external electronic device (900) and the electronic device (800).

[0267] Fig. 15 is a drawing for explaining an advertising signal transmission method according to one embodiment.

[0268] The electronic device (800) can transmit information about an advertising signal for a BIS service to the first external electronic device (900), and can also transmit information about an advertising signal for the BIS service during a negotiation process between the electronic device (800) and the first external electronic device (900). The first external electronic device (900) can obtain EA information, PA information, BIG synchronization information, and connection information of external devices connected to the electronic device (800) through the process of transmitting information about an advertising signal for the BIS service described above. Based on the obtained information, the first external electronic device (900) can calculate a section in which a BIS event section overlaps with a broadcasting time of an EA signal and / or a PA signal, or a section in which a scheduled operation (e.g., a connection event) for connected devices overlaps.

[0269] In one embodiment, the first external electronic device (900) may, based on the acquired information, broadcast an advertisement signal only in a section where the electronic device (800) may not be able to broadcast an EA signal and / or a PA signal. Referring to FIG. 15, the electronic device (800) may broadcast information about an advertisement signal for a BIS service to the first external electronic device (900) via the first external communication link. The first external electronic device (900) that has received the information about the advertisement signal for the BIS service may determine that the BIS event section and the PA signal broadcasting section overlap in the fourth and sixth (n=4, 6) ISO interval sections. Accordingly, the external electronic device (900) may broadcast a PA signal in the overlapping section. The assisting method of transmitting an advertisement signal illustrated in FIG. 15 is an example, and is not limited thereto, and the overlapping section may be identified and assisted in transmitting an advertisement signal in various ways. Additionally, in FIG. 15, the first external electronic device (900) is illustrated as broadcasting only the PA signal, but it may also broadcast only the EA signal, or it may broadcast both the EA signal and the PA signal.

[0270] The second external electronic device (1000) can receive the EA signal and the PA signal and synchronize them to the BIS channel.

[0271] In one embodiment, the advertising signal transmission period and timing of the first external electronic device (900) described above may be determined based on the information received by the first external electronic device (900) according to the settings regarding the advertising signal for the BIS service, or may be determined during a negotiation process between the first external electronic device (900) and the electronic device (800).

[0272] Fig. 16 is a drawing for explaining an advertising signal transmission method according to one embodiment.

[0273] After completing negotiation with the electronic device (800), the first external electronic device (900) may start assisting in transmitting the advertisement signal based on information related to assisting in transmitting the advertisement signal received from the electronic device (800). Through the negotiation process, the first external electronic device (900) may be requested to assist in transmitting the EA signal and the PA signal, and may decide to broadcast both the EA signal and the PA signal, or may decide to broadcast only the EA signal or only the PA signal. If the first external electronic device (900) decides to broadcast both the EA signal and the PA signal during the negotiation process, the electronic device (800) may no longer broadcast the EA signal and the PA signal, and may broadcast only the sound source data during the BIS event period. Referring to FIG. 16, the first external electronic device (900) is delegated by the electronic device (800) to broadcast both the EA signal and the PA signal on its behalf, and broadcasts the EA signal and the PA signal. The electronic device (800) can only broadcast sound source data in the BIS event section.

[0274] The second external electronic device (1000) can receive the EA signal and the PA signal and synchronize them to the BIS channel. In one embodiment, the EA signal and / or the PA signal broadcast by the electronic device (800) and the EA signal and / or the PA signal broadcast by the first external electronic device (900), which assists in transmitting the advertisement signal of the electronic device (800), are configured identically. Therefore, the second external electronic device (1000) can synchronize to the BIS channel of the electronic device (800) regardless of whether the EA signal and the PA signal are broadcast from the electronic device (800) or the first external electronic device (900).

[0275] Fig. 17 is a drawing for explaining an advertising signal transmission method according to one embodiment.

[0276] Referring to FIG. 17, the electronic device (800) can perform auxiliary operations for transmitting advertisement signals for BIS services with two first external electronic devices, for example, the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902). The electronic device (800) can, through a negotiation process with the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902), determine that the first external electronic device #1 (901) performs transmission assistance for an EA signal and that the first external electronic device #2 (902) performs transmission assistance for a PA signal. Referring to FIG. 17, the first external electronic device #1 (901) is delegated by the electronic device (800) to broadcast an EA signal on its behalf and broadcasts the EA signal, and the first external electronic device #2 (902) is delegated by the electronic device (800) to broadcast a PA signal on its behalf and broadcasts the PA signal. At this time, the first external electronic device #2 (902) can receive the PA signal broadcast by the first external electronic device #1 (901), generate an EA signal based on the received PA signal, and broadcast the generated EA signal. The electronic device (800) can broadcast only sound source data during the BIS event section.

[0277] The second external electronic device (1000) can receive the EA signal and the PA signal and synchronize them to the BIS channel. In one embodiment, the EA signal broadcast by the electronic device (800) and the EA signal broadcast by the first external electronic device #1 (901) that assists in transmitting the advertisement signal, the PA signal broadcast by the electronic device (800) and the PA signal broadcast by the first external electronic device #2 (902) can be configured identically. Accordingly, the second external electronic device (1000) can synchronize to the BIS channel of the electronic device (800) regardless of whether the EA signal and the PA signal are broadcast from the electronic device (800) or from the first external electronic device #1 (901) and the first external electronic device #2 (902).

[0278] Fig. 18 is a drawing for explaining an advertising signal transmission method according to one embodiment.

[0279] The electronic device (800) can transmit information about an advertising signal for a BIS service to a first external electronic device (900), and information about an advertising signal for a BIS service may also be transmitted during a negotiation process between the electronic device (800) and the first external electronic device (900). Through the process of transmitting information about an advertising signal for the BIS service described above, the first external electronic device (900) can obtain EA information, PA information, BIG synchronization information, and connection information of external devices connected to the electronic device (800). The first external electronic device (900) may broadcast the same EA signal and / or PA signal as the EA signal and / or PA signal broadcast by the electronic device (800) based on the acquired information, or may generate and broadcast a new EA signal and / or PA signal, for example, a secondary EA signal and / or PA signal, including the same BIG synchronization information as the BIG synchronization information included in the EA signal and / or PA signal broadcast by the electronic device (800). The new EA signal and / or PA signal may include the same BIG synchronization information as the electronic device (800), so that the second external electronic device (1000) receiving the EA signal and / or PA signal may be synchronized with the electronic device (800) providing the BIS service.

[0280] In one embodiment, the EA signal and / or PA signal broadcast by the first external electronic device (900) includes the same BIG synchronization information as the EA signal and / or PA signal broadcast by the electronic device (800), but is not the same signal as the EA signal and / or PA signal broadcast by the electronic device (800), so there is no concern of collision even if the electronic device (800) continues to broadcast the EA signal and / or PA signal. Accordingly, as illustrated in FIG. 18, the electronic device (800) may continue to broadcast the EA signal and / or PA signal, or may stop broadcasting the EA signal and / or PA signal.

[0281] The second external electronic device (1000) can receive the EA signal and the PA signal and synchronize them to the BIS channel. At this time, the EA signal and / or the PA signal broadcasted by the electronic device (800) and the EA signal and / or the PA signal broadcasted by the first external electronic device (900) that assists in transmitting the advertisement signal of the electronic device (800) are configured to indicate the same source device, for example, the BIS channel broadcasted by the electronic device (800). Accordingly, the second external electronic device (1000) can synchronize to the BIS channel of the electronic device (800) regardless of whether it receives the EA signal and the PA signal broadcasted by the electronic device (800) or the EA signal and / or the PA signal broadcasted by the first external electronic device (900).

[0282] Fig. 19 is a flowchart for explaining an operation method of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0283] In operation 1910, the electronic device (800) may trigger an auxiliary or auxiliary operation for transmitting an advertisement signal. In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may determine whether assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal is necessary based on at least one of external input, available wireless resources, and the wireless environment, either while performing or before performing a BIS service. For example, the electronic device (800) may determine whether assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal is necessary based on at least one of user input, a preset policy for wireless resources, external interference or noise, or scheduling of the electronic device (800). The electronic device (800) may determine that assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal is necessary when receiving a user input during BIG generation or during a BIS service-related operation by generating a BIG, when overlapping with scheduling of other BT tasks such as LE scan, paging, inquiry, and inquiry scan during the BIS service, when an external LE, BR (basic rate) / EDR (enhanced data rate) link is generated and the corresponding operation section overlaps or needs to be prepared for a case where it overlaps with the broadcasting time of an EA signal and / or PA signal, or when broadcasting is not possible in some sections due to the influence of WiFi COEX (coexistence). When the electronic device (800) determines that assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal is necessary, it may trigger assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal.

[0284] In operation 1920, the electronic device (800) may transmit a request to a first external electronic device for assistance in transmitting an advertising signal for a BIS (broadcast isochronous stream) service.

[0285] In one embodiment, the advertising signal may include an extended advertising (EA) signal and / or a periodic advertising (PA) signal as a signal for synchronizing the BIS service. The electronic device (800) may request assistance in transmitting advertising signals for the entire section or a portion of the section for the EA signal and / or the PA signal. The electronic device (800) may receive an accept message for a request for assistance in transmitting advertising signals for the BIS service from the first external electronic device (900), or may omit the operation of receiving the accept message.

[0286] In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may form an external link with a first external electronic device (900) through a physical channel such as an LE, BR / EDR link, or WiFi, and communicate with the first external electronic device (900) through the formed external link.

[0287] In operation 1930, the electronic device (800) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service to a first external electronic device (900). The electronic device (800) may transmit information necessary for the first external electronic device (900) to broadcast the advertising signal on behalf of the first external electronic device (900).

[0288] In one embodiment, it is also possible for operations 1910 and 1920 to be performed as a single operation. For example, the electronic device (800) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service, along with a request for assistance in transmitting an advertising signal for a BIS service, to the first external electronic device (900).

[0289] In operation 1940, the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the first external electronic device (900) regarding assistance in transmitting the advertisement signal based on information about the advertisement signal.

[0290] In one embodiment, the negotiation for assistance in transmitting advertisement signals between the electronic device (800) and the first external electronic device (900) may be conducted in such a manner that the electronic device (800) first transmits necessary operations to the first external electronic device (900) and the first external electronic device (900) accepts operations that can be performed, or in such a manner that the first external electronic device (900) first transmits possible operations to the electronic device (800) and the electronic device (800) selects necessary operations, or in such a manner that the electronic device (800) and the first external electronic device (900) exchange necessary matters and possible operations and select overlapping operations. However, this negotiation process is merely an example and is not limited thereto, and the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the first external electronic device (900) in various forms. The electronic device (800) may receive an accept message regarding the negotiation result from the first external electronic device (900), or may omit the operation of receiving the accept message.

[0291] In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may negotiate with each first external electronic device (900) for assistance in transmitting an advertising signal, if there are multiple first external electronic devices (900).

[0292] In operation 1950, the electronic device (800) may transmit information related to assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal to the first external electronic device (900) based on the negotiation result. In addition, the electronic device (800) may also transmit a BIS event start time and / or BIG synchronization information to the first external electronic device (900).

[0293] In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may broadcast at least one BIS for at least one second external device when assistance in transmitting an advertising signal is initiated.

[0294] In operation 1960, the electronic device (800) may stop assisting in transmitting the advertising signal and may broadcast the advertising signal. In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may stop assisting in transmitting the advertising signal based on at least one of an external input, a determination of whether a predetermined condition is satisfied, and a notification from the first external electronic device (900).

[0295] More specifically, in one embodiment, when the electronic device (800) receives a command to stop assisting advertisement signal transmission, when the surrounding radio frequency (RF) environment becomes higher than a set standard, when available resources become higher than a threshold value and transmission assistance is no longer needed, or when the BIS service is stopped, the electronic device (800) may stop assisting advertisement signal transmission and broadcast advertisement signals on its own or stop the BIS service. At this time, the electronic device (800) may request the first external electronic device (900) to stop assisting advertisement signal transmission.

[0296] In one embodiment, when the electronic device (800) receives a notification from the first external electronic device (900) to discontinue assistance in transmitting advertising signals, the electronic device (800) may directly broadcast the advertising signal that the first external electronic device (900) was broadcasting.

[0297] In one embodiment, unless the BIS service is interrupted, the electronic device (800) may transmit a request to the first external electronic device (900) to stop transmitting advertisement signals and then broadcast all EA signals and PA signals without assistance from the first external electronic device (900).

[0298] In one embodiment, when there are two or more first external electronic devices (900) that perform assistance in transmitting advertisement signals, and only a specific device stops assisting in transmission, the electronic device (800) may broadcast advertisement signals only for the type of advertisement signal for which assistance in transmission has been stopped (e.g., EA or PA), or other first external electronic devices that perform assistance in transmitting advertisement signals may also directly transmit all advertisement signals after requesting to stop assisting in transmission.

[0299] In one embodiment, if there are two or more first external electronic devices (900) that perform assistance in transmitting advertisement signals, and only a specific device stops assisting in transmission, negotiation for assistance in transmission may be performed with at least one of the first external electronic devices (900) excluding the specific device, for the type of advertisement signal for which assistance in transmission has been stopped (e.g., EA or PA). For example, at least one of the first external electronic devices (900) excluding the specific device may be made to perform assistance in transmission for the type of advertisement signal (e.g., EA or PA) that the specific device was broadcasting.

[0300] In one embodiment, when a connection with a first external electronic device (900) that assists in transmitting an advertisement signal through a first external link during a BIS service operation is lost and a request to stop transmitting an advertisement signal cannot be transmitted, the electronic device (800) can directly broadcast all advertisement signals that the first external electronic device (900) was broadcasting, for example, advertisement signals that the first external electronic device (900) was transmitting on its behalf.

[0301] FIG. 20 is a flowchart illustrating a method of operating a first external electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0302] In operation 2010, the first external electronic device (900) may receive a request for assistance in transmitting an advertising signal for a BIS service from the electronic device (800).

[0303] In one embodiment, the advertising signal may include an extended advertising (EA) signal and / or a periodic advertising (PA) signal as a signal for synchronizing the BIS service. The electronic device (800) may request assistance in transmitting advertising signals for the entire section or a portion of the section for the EA signal and / or the PA signal. The first external electronic device (900) may transmit an accept message to the electronic device (800) in response to the request for assistance in transmitting advertising signals for the BIS service, or may omit the operation of receiving the accept message.

[0304] In one embodiment, the first external electronic device (900) may form an external link with the electronic device (800) through a physical channel such as an LE, BR / EDR link, or WiFi, and communicate with the electronic device (800) through the formed external link.

[0305] In operation 2020, a first external electronic device (900) may receive information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service from an electronic device (800). The first external electronic device (900) may receive information from the electronic device (800) necessary for the first external electronic device (900) to broadcast the advertising signal on behalf of the first external electronic device (900).

[0306] In one embodiment, it is also possible for operations 2010 and 2020 to be performed as a single operation. For example, the first external electronic device (900) may receive information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service from the electronic device (800) along with a request for assistance in transmitting an advertising signal for a BIS service.

[0307] In operation 2030, the first external electronic device (900) may negotiate with the electronic device (800) regarding assistance in transmitting the advertisement signal based on information about the advertisement signal. In one embodiment, the first external electronic device (900) may negotiate with the external electronic device (800) regarding at least one of the type of the advertisement signal, the assistance time, and the assistance form for assistance in transmitting the advertisement signal.

[0308] In one embodiment, the negotiation for assistance in transmitting advertisement signals between the electronic device (800) and the first external electronic device (900) may be in the form that the electronic device (800) first transmits necessary operations to the first external electronic device (900) and the first external electronic device (900) accepts operations that can be performed, or the first external electronic device (900) first transmits possible operations to the electronic device (800) and the electronic device (800) selects necessary operations, or the electronic device (800) and the first external electronic device (900) exchange necessary matters and possible operations and select overlapping operations. However, this negotiation process is merely an example and is not limited thereto, and the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the first external electronic device (900) in various forms. The first external electronic device (900) may transmit an accept message regarding the negotiation result to the electronic device (800), or the operation of receiving the accept message may be omitted.

[0309] In operation 2040, the first external electronic device (900) may receive information related to assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal based on a negotiation result from the electronic device (800). In one embodiment, the information related to assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal may include time information for starting assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal. For example, the first external electronic device (900) may receive information including a timing instant value from the electronic device (800) to determine the timing for starting assistance in transmitting an advertisement signal. In addition, the first external electronic device (900) may also receive a BIS event start time and / or BIG synchronization information from the electronic device (800).

[0310] In operation 2050, the first external electronic device (900) may broadcast an advertising signal based on the negotiation result and information related to assistance in transmitting the advertising signal. The first external electronic device (900) may broadcast an EA signal and / or a PA signal for the entire section or a portion of the section.

[0311] In one embodiment, the first external electronic device (900) may stop broadcasting the advertisement signal when it receives a request to stop transmitting the advertisement signal from the electronic device (800).

[0312] In one embodiment, when the first external electronic device (900) receives a command to stop assisting advertisement signal transmission, or determines that it is necessary to stop assisting advertisement signal transmission because available resources fall below a threshold, the first external electronic device (900) may notify the electronic device (800) of the discontinuation of assisting advertisement signal transmission through the first external link or an account-based server, and may stop transmitting the advertisement signal. When the first external electronic device (900) receives a request for assisting advertisement signal transmission through the first external link, if the first external link is released and it is impossible to notify of the discontinuation of assisting advertisement signal transmission, the first external electronic device (900) may stop broadcasting the advertisement signal immediately, maintain the advertisement signal transmission for a predetermined period of time, and then stop, or maintain the advertisement signal broadcast until the first external link is restored or re-created, and then decide whether to continue broadcasting the advertisement signal after going through a renegotiation process.

[0313] FIG. 21 and FIG. 22 illustrate an operation of assisting transmission of an advertisement signal for a BIS service using an account server (1300) when an electronic device (800) and at least one first external electronic device, for example, a first external electronic device #1 (901) and a first external electronic device #2 (902), are registered with the same account in the account server (1300).

[0314] Figure 21 is a flowchart illustrating an operation method of an account server according to one embodiment.

[0315] In operation 2110, the account server (1300) may receive auxiliary capability information for advertisement signal transmission from at least one first external electronic device (900). In one embodiment, the auxiliary capability information for advertisement signal transmission may include information regarding whether assistance for advertisement signal transmission is possible and / or information regarding available resources. In one embodiment, the account server (1300) may set a time interval for receiving auxiliary capability information for advertisement signal transmission from a plurality of first external electronic devices, and may receive auxiliary capability information for advertisement signal transmission during the corresponding time interval. In addition, in one embodiment, the auxiliary capability information for advertisement signal transmission may be updated periodically.

[0316] In operation 2120, the account server (1300) may transmit information about at least one first external electronic device (900) to the electronic device (800). More specifically, the account server (1300) may transmit auxiliary capability information of advertisement signal transmission received from at least one first external electronic device (900) to the electronic device (800).

[0317] In operation 2130, when the electronic device (800) starts a BIS service, the account server (1300) may receive information about an advertising signal including information related to the BIS service from the electronic device (800).

[0318] In operation 2140, the account server (1300) may transmit information about an advertising signal including information related to a BIS service received from an electronic device (800) to at least one first external electronic device (900).

[0319] In operation 2150, the account server (1300) may negotiate with the electronic device (800) regarding assistance in transmitting advertisement signals. The account server (1300) may negotiate with the electronic device (800) regarding assistance in transmitting advertisement signals based on information about the advertisement signals. In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) may negotiate with the account server (1300) regarding at least one of the type of advertisement signal, the assistance time, and the assistance form for assistance in transmitting advertisement signals.

[0320] In one embodiment, when there are multiple first external electronic devices, the account server (1300) can negotiate with a first external electronic device in the same space that can assist in transmitting advertisement signals of the electronic device (800). In addition, when there are multiple first external electronic devices, negotiation can be performed by selecting one first external electronic device according to preset criteria or user input. Here, the preset criteria can be distance from the electronic device (800), available resources, order of registration with the account server (1300), order of most recent connection, or name order. However, these criteria are merely examples, and various criteria can be set. In addition, negotiation can be performed to assist in transmitting EA signals and PA signals respectively for each first external electronic device.

[0321] In one embodiment, the electronic device (800) and the account server (1300) may determine a predetermined time at which the electronic device (800) should broadcast an advertisement signal when performing negotiation. When using the account server (1300), unlike a Bluetooth link, it may be difficult to accurately calculate a timing instant value. Therefore, the electronic device (800) may broadcast an EA signal and / or a PA signal for a predetermined time even after negotiation is completed, and the first external electronic device (900) may scan the EA signal and / or PA signal transmitted by the electronic device (800) to determine in which channel sequence and at which timing the advertisement signal to be assisted in broadcasting should be broadcast, and then may start assisting transmission.

[0322] In operation 2160, the account server (1300) can transmit the negotiation result to the selected first external electronic device (900).
