Description

Electronic devices and methods of operating electronic devices

[0001] Embodiments disclosed in this document relate to electronic devices and methods of operating electronic devices.

[0002] 3D surround sound is an audio output method that combines and outputs various simultaneously extracted sound sources by taking advantage of the differences in arrival times and sound intensity between microphone sound sources during sound recording, or by specifying the physical location of a speaker and specifying the sound source for that location. 3D surround sound can be implemented in two ways: channel-based and object-based. Channel-based implementation methods implement surround sound using speaker systems, and can be configured as mono (1 channel), stereo (2 channels), 5.1 channels, 7.1 channels, or 9.1 channels. In the case of channel-based methods, in order to implement surround sound, the consumer must have an audio device that conforms to the channel-based standard and place it in a designated location, and sound sources that support the standard can be used. Object-based implementation methods treat audio signals as individual objects, assigning location information and acoustic characteristics to each audio object, and considering the device that plays the object separately from the speaker system. In the case of object-based methods, you can enjoy surround sound with just two-channel stereo equipment, but the supplier can use dedicated equipment such as a dummy head microphone to create the sound source.

Although the drawing illustrates an example in which three display devices are connected, this is merely an example, and embodiments of the present disclosure may also be applied to cases in which fewer or more display devices than three are connected. In addition, in the following description, the external electronic device (240) is illustrated as a separate device from the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230), however, this is merely an example, and all or part of the configuration of the external electronic device (240) may be included in the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230). In other words, all or part of the functions of the external electronic device (240) described below may be performed by at least one display device among the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230).

[0062] In one embodiment, the display area of the display device (210), 220, 230) may be divided into a first area (211, 221, 231) and a second area (212, 222, 232). The first area may include a left area based on the center of the display area, and the second area may include a right area based on the center of the display area. In the following description, the area is divided into two areas, the first area and the second area, as an example, but may be classified into two or more areas.

[0063] In one embodiment, the display device (210, 220, 230) may include a first speaker (213, 223, 233) and a second speaker (213, 224, 234). [0064] In one embodiment, an external electronic device (240) may control images and sounds of a plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230). The external electronic device (240) may include amplifiers (e.g., a first AMP (241), a second AMP (242), and a third AMP (243)) for controlling sounds of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230). The external electronic device (240) may include an SoC (244) for controlling the amplifiers. The external electronic device (240) may be referred to as an “image transmitting / receiving device.”

[0065] In one embodiment, the SoC (244) can analyze a video signal and an audio signal input from a source device (250). The SoC (244) can analyze the video signal input from the source device (250) to identify a volatility value of a screen to be displayed on a plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230). The volatility value may include a value indicating the degree to which the screen changes. In other words, the volatility value may include a value indicating how quickly pixels or elements on the screen of the display device change over time. The volatility value may indicate the degree to which the screen moves or changes. For example, the SoC (244) can identify the volatility value of a screen to be displayed on each display device using a motion lighting technology that determines the volatility of an image. For example, the SoC (244) can identify the number of fluctuations in pixels in a frame of an image signal to identify the volatility value. For example, the SoC (244) can identify a variability value based on the position, movement, etc. of an object included in the screen displayed on each display device using object recognition technology. For example, the electronic device can determine a variability value based on a refresh rate and a frame rate. The variability value may be referred to as a “screen variability indicator” or a “screen dynamics indicator.”

[0066] In one embodiment, the external electronic device (240) can control the sound output of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230) through the amplifiers (241, 242, 243). For example, the external electronic device (240) can transmit a signal for controlling the sound output of the display device (210) through the first amplifier (241) connected to the first speaker (213) and the second speaker (214). For example, the external electronic device (240) can transmit a signal for controlling the sound output of the display device (220) through the second amplifier (242) connected to the first speaker (223) and the second speaker (224). For example, the external electronic device (240) can transmit a signal for controlling the sound output of the display device (230) through the third amplifier (243) connected to the first speaker (233) and the second speaker (234).

[0067] Although the drawing illustrates an example in which the SoC (244) is included in the external electronic device (240), in one embodiment, the SoC (244) may be included in at least one of the plurality of display devices. In other words, the SoC (244) may be included in at least one of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230) rather than the external electronic device (240). When the SoC (244) is included in at least one of the plurality of display devices, the at least one display device including the external electronic device (240) and the SoC (244) may perform operations for controlling image and audio signals of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230).

[0068] In one embodiment, the external electronic device (240) can transmit video and audio signals to a plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230) wirelessly or by wire. For example, when the external electronic device (240) and the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230) are connected by wire (e.g., HDMI), the external electronic device (240) can transmit video and audio signals to the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230) by wire. For example, the external electronic device (240) may include a communication unit (not shown) for wireless transmission of video and audio signals. The external electronic device (240) can transmit video and audio signals to the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230) by using the communication unit (not shown).

[0069] In one embodiment, an external electronic device (240) can receive an input signal from a source device (250). The source device (250) is a subject that transmits an input source and can include a device such as a set-top box (STB), a PC, or a server.

[0070] In one embodiment, although not shown in the drawings, the source device (250) may transmit the input signal to an external electronic device (240), or, if the source device (250) is absent, may transmit the input signal directly to any one of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230). This will be described in detail in the drawings described below.

[0071] In one embodiment, one of the display devices (210, 220, 230) may serve as a master device. [0077] In one embodiment, a master device (e.g., display device 210 in FIG. 3A, display device 220 in FIG. 3B) may receive an input signal (e.g., a video signal, an audio signal) from a source device (e.g., source device 250) and identify display modes of a plurality of display devices based on the input signal. The master device may identify information about screens to be displayed on the plurality of display devices including the master device based on the input signal, and may identify display modes of the plurality of display devices including the master device based on the information. The display modes may include an extended display mode and a single display mode. The extended display mode displays the plurality of display devices based on an input from a single source, and may include a mode in which the screen is displayed in an expanded manner. The extended display mode may be referred to as a “multi-monitor mode.” A device in the extended display mode may include a device with an extended display function enabled. The single display mode may include a mode in which each of the plurality of display devices displays a screen based on a different input source. A device in the single display mode may include a device with a single display function enabled.

For example, if the number of linked display devices and the number of input sources are equal, the master device can determine that both display devices are operating in single display mode. For example, if the number of linked display devices exceeds the number of input sources, the master device can determine that at least two display devices are operating in extended display mode.

[0079] In one embodiment, the master device can identify that all three devices are operating in extended display mode. For example, the master device can identify that display device (210), display device (220), and display device (230) are all operating in extended display mode. In this case, display device (210), display device (220), and display device (230) can output screens and audio based on a single input source.

[0080] In one embodiment, the master device can identify that two display devices are operating in an extended display mode and the remaining display device is operating in a single display mode. For example, the master device can identify that display devices (210) and (220) are operating in an extended display mode and that display device (230) is operating in a single display mode. In this case, display devices (210) and (220) can output screens and sounds based on a single input source, and display device (230) can identify that screens and sounds are output through a different type of input source than display devices (210) and (220).

[0081] In one embodiment, the master device can identify that the display device (210), the display device (220), and the display device (230) are all operating in a single display mode. For example, if the input sources input to the display device (210), the display device (220), and the display device (230) are all different, the master device can determine that the display device (210), the display device (220), and the display device (230) are all operating in a single display mode.

[0082] In one embodiment, a master device (e.g., display device (210) in FIG. 3A, display device (220) in FIG. 3B) may receive an input signal (e.g., a video signal, an audio signal) from a source device (e.g., source device (250)) and analyze the input signal to identify a volatility value of a screen displayed on a plurality of display devices (display device (210), display device (220), display device (230)).

[0083] In one embodiment, the master device can compare the variability values of the screens of each of the identified display devices and increase the sound intensity of the speakers of the display device having the greatest variability value and the display devices adjacent thereto.

[0084] In one embodiment, when all three display devices (210, 220, 230) are identified as operating in extended display mode, the master device may analyze the input signal to identify the variability value of the screen to be displayed on each of the display devices, and increase the sound intensity of the display device displaying the portion with high variability and the speaker adjacent to the display device displaying the portion with high variability. For example, when the display device (220) is identified as having the highest variability value, the sound intensity of the first speaker (223), the second speaker (224), and the second speaker (214), which is a speaker positioned adjacent to the display device (220), and the first speaker (233) may be increased. For example, when the display device (210) is identified as having the highest variability value, the master device may increase the sound intensity of the first speaker (213), the second speaker (214), and the first speaker (223), which is a speaker positioned adjacent to the display device (210). For example, if the display device (230) is identified as having the largest variability value, the master device may increase the sound intensity of the first speaker (233), the second speaker (234), and the second speaker (224), which is a speaker positioned adjacent to the display device (230). In one embodiment, the speakers positioned to the left of the center point (the first speaker (213), the second speaker (214), and the first speaker (223)) may output the sound of the left channel of the input signal, and the speakers positioned to the right of the center point (the second speaker (224), the first speaker (233), and the second speaker (234)) may output the sound of the right channel of the input signal. In one embodiment, the sound intensity of the speaker positioned on the display device having the largest variability value may be increased by a first value, and the sound intensity of the speaker positioned adjacent to the display device having the largest variability value may be increased by a second value that is smaller than the first value.

[0085] In one embodiment, when identifying that two display devices are operating in extended display mode and one display device is operating in single display mode, the master device may analyze the input signal of the display device operating in extended display mode to identify a variability value of the screen, and increase the sound intensity of the display device displaying the portion with high variability and the speakers adjacent to the display device displaying the portion with high variability. For example, when identifying that display device (210) is operating in single display mode and display device (220) and display device (230) are operating in extended display mode, the master device may increase the sound intensity of the display device with the larger variability value among display device (220) and display device (230). For example, when identifying that display device (210) is operating in single display mode and display device (220) and display device (230) are operating in extended display mode, the master device may increase the sound intensity of the display device with the larger variability value among display device (220) and display device (230). For example, if the display device (212) is operating in a single display mode and the display device (210) and the display device (230) are operating in an extended display mode, the master device may increase the sound intensity of the display device having a larger variability value among the display device (210) and the display device (230). For example, if the display device (230) is operating in a single display mode and the display device (210) and the display device (220) are operating in an extended display mode, the master device may increase the sound intensity of the display device having a larger variability value among the display device (210) and the display device (220).In one embodiment, when the volatility value of a display device operating in a single display mode is the greatest, only the sound output intensity of the display device operating in a single display mode may be increased, and the sound intensity of the remaining display devices may not be increased.

[0086] In one embodiment, the master device may use object (e.g., person, animal, object, etc.) recognition technology utilizing machine learning or the like to identify the volatility values of the display devices, recognize the movement of the objects, and increase the sound of the display device on which the objects are displayed. In other words, the screen display area of the display device operating in the extended display mode may be divided into a left area (e.g., 1-1 area, 2-1 area) and a right area (e.g., 1-2 area, 2-2 area), and the object recognition technology may be used to identify the area where the object is located, and increase the sound intensity of the speaker corresponding to the area where the object is located.

[0087] In one embodiment, the master device can isolate the sound source of the identified object and enhance only the sound of that object.

[0088] In one embodiment, the master device may only increase the sound intensity of a speaker positioned in the area where the object is located on the display device where the object is displayed.

[0089] In one embodiment, if all three display devices are identified as operating in a single display mode, the master device can control the sound intensity based on the screen display status of the display device displaying the main screen among the plurality of display devices.

[0090] In one embodiment, when all of the plurality of display devices operate in single display mode, the master device may determine a screen displayed on any one of the plurality of display devices as the main screen. For example, when all three display devices operate in single display mode, the screen displayed on the display device located in the middle of the three may be determined as the main screen. For example, when all of the three display devices operate in single display mode, the screen displayed on the display device located on the left of the three may be determined as the main screen. For example, when all of the three display devices operate in single display mode, the screen displayed on the display device located on the right of the three may be determined as the main screen. For example, the screen with the highest variability value among the screens displayed on the plurality of display devices may be determined as the main screen.

[0091] In one embodiment, the master device can increase the sound intensity of the main display device or the remaining display devices based on the screen variability value of the display device displaying the main screen. For example, if the display device displaying the main screen is determined to be the display device (220), and if the screen variability value of the display device (220) is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, the sound intensity of the display device (220) can be increased, and the sound intensity of the display devices (210, 230) can be decreased or turned off. If the screen variability value of the display device (220) is equal to or less than a predetermined value, the sound intensity of the display device (220) can be decreased, and the sound intensity of the display devices (210, 230) can be decreased or turned off. In other words, in a situation where the main screen (e.g., a game execution screen) is displayed on the display device arranged in the center, and other content such as additional information and advertisements are displayed on the remaining display devices (210, 230), the sounds of the main screen and the additional screens can be controlled depending on the progress status of the main screen. During the game (when the volatility value is greater than a predetermined value), the sound of the main screen is focused, and during the game pause (when the volatility value is less than a predetermined value), the sound of the additional screen (210, 220) is focused to provide a three-dimensional sound.

[0092] In one embodiment, if the master device itself is identified as having the greatest variability value, the master device may increase the sound intensity of the master device and the sound intensity of speakers positioned adjacent to the master device.

[0093] In one embodiment, if a display device other than the master device is identified as having the greatest variability value, the master device may include in a control signal transmitted to the other display device information instructing the other display device to increase the sound intensity.

[0094] In one embodiment, the master device may control the sound output of the display devices in response to identifying that all three display devices are operating in a single display mode and at least two of the display devices are switching to an extended display mode. For example, if all three display devices are operating in a single display mode and the sound of the three display devices is controlled based on their respective source inputs, and if identifying that the display devices (210, 220) are switching to an extended display mode, the display devices (210, 220) may control the display devices (210, 220) to operate according to the sound intensity control according to the extended display mode described above. This can be described in detail with a table in the drawings described below.

[0095] FIG. 4A illustrates an example of a connection structure between an external electronic device and display devices according to one embodiment. FIG. 4B illustrates an example of a connection structure between an external electronic device and display devices according to one embodiment.

[0096] In one embodiment, any one of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230) may serve as a master device. The master device may receive an input source from a source device or an external electronic device (240) and transmit the same to other display devices.

[0097] Referring to FIG. 4A, the display device (220) can serve as a master device. The display device (220) can receive an input signal from an external electronic device (240), generate a screen and sound control signal to be displayed on the display devices (210, 230) based on the input signal, and then transmit the same to the display devices (210) and (230), respectively. The display device (210) can output a screen and sound based on the control signal received from the display device (220). The display device (230) can output a screen and sound based on the control signal received from the display device (220).

[0098] Referring to FIG. 4B, the display device (210) can serve as a master device. The display device (210) can receive an input signal from an external electronic device (240), generate a screen and sound control signal to be displayed on the display device (220, 230) based on the input signal, and then transmit the same to the display device (220). The display device (220) can output a screen and sound based on the control signal received from the display device (210), and transmit a screen and sound control signal to be displayed on the display device (230) to the display device (230). The display device (230) can output a screen and sound based on the control signal received from the display device (220).

[0099] In one embodiment, an external electronic device (240) or a master device (e.g., a display device (220) in FIG. 4A, a display device (210) in FIG. 4B) may receive an input signal (e.g., a video signal, an audio signal) from the external electronic device (240) and identify display modes of a plurality of display devices based on the input signal. In the following description, an example in which the external electronic device (240) identifies the display modes of a plurality of display devices and controls the audio of the display devices accordingly is described, but this is merely an example, and a master device may also identify the display modes of a plurality of display devices and control the audio of the display devices accordingly, as shown in FIGS. 3A and 3B.

[0100] In the following description, the external electronic device (240) is described as a separate device from the plurality of display devices, but this is only an example, and all or part of the configuration of the external electronic device may be included in the plurality of display devices. In other words, all or part of the functions of the external electronic device (240) described below may be performed by at least one of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230). The external electronic device may be referred to as an “image transmitting and receiving device.” For example, an SoC (e.g., SoC (244)) may be included not only in the external electronic device (240) but also in at least one of the plurality of display devices. In other words, the SoC may be included in at least one of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230), not in the external electronic device (240). When at least one display device among a plurality of display devices includes an SoC, the external electronic device (240) and the at least one display device including the SoC can perform operations for controlling image and audio signals of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230).

[0101] In one embodiment, the external electronic device (240) can identify information about a screen to be displayed on a plurality of display devices based on an input signal, and can identify a display mode of the plurality of display devices based on the information. The display mode may include an extended display mode and a single display mode. The extended display mode displays a plurality of display devices based on an input from a single source, and may include a mode in which the screen is displayed in an expanded manner. The extended display mode may be referred to as a “multi-monitor mode.” The single display mode may include a mode in which each of the plurality of display devices displays a screen based on a different input source.

[0102] In one embodiment, the external electronic device (240) may compare the number of linked display devices with the number of input sources. For example, if the number of linked display devices and the number of input sources are equal, it may be determined that both display devices are operating in single display mode. For example, if the number of linked display devices is greater than the number of input sources, it may be determined that at least two display devices are operating in extended display mode.

[0103] In one embodiment, the external electronic device (240) can identify that all three display devices are operating in extended display mode. The operation of the external electronic device (240) identifying that the three display devices are operating in extended display mode may include the operation of identifying that the extended display function is activated. For example, the external electronic device (240) can identify that the display device (210), the display device (220), and the display device (230) are all operating in extended display mode. In this case, the display device (210), the display device (220), and the display device (230) can output screens and sounds based on a single input source.

[0104] In one embodiment, the external electronic device (240) can identify that two display devices are operating in extended display mode and the remaining display device is operating in single display mode. The operation of the external electronic device (240) identifying that the two display devices are operating in extended display mode may include the operation of identifying that the extended display function of the two display devices is activated. For example, the external electronic device (240) can identify that the display devices (210 and 220) are operating in extended display mode and the display device (230) is operating in single display mode. In this case, the display devices (210 and 220) can output screens and sounds based on a single input source, and the display device (230) can identify that the screens and sounds are output through a different type of input source than the display devices (210 and 220).

[0105] In one embodiment, the external electronic device (240) can identify that the display device (210), the display device (220), and the display device (230) are all operating in a single display mode. For example, if the input sources input to the display device (210), the display device (220), and the display device (230) are all different, the external electronic device (240) can determine that the display device (210), the display device (220), and the display device (230) are all operating in a single display mode.

[0106] In one embodiment, an external electronic device (240) may receive an input signal (e.g., a video signal, an audio signal) from a source device (e.g., a source device (250)), analyze the input signal, and identify a volatility value of a screen displayed on a plurality of display devices (display device (210), display device (220), display device (230)).

[0107] In one embodiment, the external electronic device (240) can compare the volatility values of the screens of each of the identified display devices and increase the sound intensity of the speakers of the display device having the greatest volatility value and the display devices adjacent thereto.

[0108] In one embodiment, when all three display devices (210, 220, 230) are identified as operating in extended display mode, the external electronic device (240) may analyze the input signal to identify the variability value of the screen to be displayed on each of the display devices, and increase the sound intensity of the display device displaying the portion with the highest variability and the speaker adjacent to the display device displaying the portion with the highest variability. For example, when the display device (220) is identified as having the highest variability value, the sound intensity of the first speaker (223), the second speaker (224), and the second speaker (214), which are speakers positioned adjacent to the display device (220), and the first speaker (233) may be increased. For example, if the display device (210) is identified as having the highest variability value, the external electronic device (240) can increase the sound intensity of the first speaker (213), the second speaker (214), and the first speaker (223), which is a speaker positioned adjacent to the display device (210). For example, if the display device (230) is identified as having the highest variability value, the external electronic device (240) can increase the sound intensity of the first speaker (233), the second speaker (234), and the second speaker (224), which is a speaker positioned adjacent to the display device (230). In one embodiment, the speakers (the first speaker (213), the second speaker (214), and the first speaker (223)) positioned to the left of the center point can output sound of the left channel of the input signal, and the speakers (the second speaker (224), the first speaker (233), and the second speaker (234)) positioned to the right of the center point can output sound of the right channel of the input signal. In one embodiment, the sound intensity of a speaker positioned on a display device having the largest variability value may be increased by a first value, and the sound intensity of a speaker positioned adjacent to a display device having the largest variability value may be increased by a second value that is less than the first value.

[0109] In one embodiment, when identifying that two display devices are operating in extended display mode and one display device is operating in single display mode, the external electronic device (240) may analyze an input signal of the display device operating in extended display mode to identify a volatility value of the screen, and increase the sound intensity of the display device displaying the portion with high volatility and a speaker adjacent to the display device displaying the portion with high volatility. For example, when identifying that the display device (210) is operating in single display mode and the display device (220) and the display device (230) are operating in extended display mode, the external electronic device (240) may increase the sound intensity of the display device having the larger volatility value among the display devices (220 and 230). For example, if the display device (210) is identified as operating in a single display mode and the display device (220) and the display device (230) are identified as operating in an extended display mode, the external electronic device (240) can increase the sound intensity of the display device that has a larger variability value among the display device (220) and the display device (230). For example, if the display device (212) is identified as operating in a single display mode and the display device (210) and the display device (230) are identified as operating in an extended display mode, the external electronic device (240) can increase the sound intensity of the display device that has a larger variability value among the display device (210) and the display device (230). For example, if the display device (230) is identified as operating in a single display mode and the display device (210) and the display device (220) are identified as operating in an extended display mode, the external electronic device (240) can increase the sound intensity of the display device that has a larger variability value among the display device (210) and the display device (220).In one embodiment, when the volatility value of a display device operating in a single display mode is the greatest, only the sound output intensity of the display device operating in a single display mode may be increased, and the sound intensity of the remaining display devices may not be increased.

[0110] In one embodiment, the external electronic device (240) may use an object (e.g., a person, an animal, an object, etc.) recognition technology utilizing machine learning, etc., to identify the volatility values of the display devices, thereby recognizing the movement of the object and increasing the sound of the display device on which the object is displayed. In other words, the screen display area of the display device operating through the extended display mode may be divided into a left area (e.g., 1-1 area, 2-1 area) and a right area (e.g., 1-2 area, 2-2 area), and the object recognition technology may be used to identify the area where the object is located, and the sound intensity of the speaker corresponding to the area where the object is located may be increased.

[0111] In one embodiment, the external electronic device (240) can isolate the sound source of the identified object and amplify only the sound of that object.

[0112] In one embodiment, the external electronic device (240) may only increase the sound intensity of a speaker placed in the area where the object is located on the display device where the object is displayed.

[0113] In one embodiment, when all three display devices are identified as operating in a single display mode, the external electronic device (240) can control the sound intensity based on the screen display status of the display device displaying the main screen among the multiple display devices.

[0114] In one embodiment, when all of the plurality of display devices operate in single display mode, the external electronic device (240) may determine a screen displayed on any one of the plurality of display devices as the main screen. For example, when all three display devices operate in single display mode, the screen displayed on the display device arranged in the middle of the three may be determined as the main screen. For example, when all of the three display devices operate in single display mode, the screen displayed on the display device arranged on the left of the three may be determined as the main screen. For example, when all of the three display devices operate in single display mode, the screen displayed on the display device arranged on the right of the three may be determined as the main screen. For example, the screen with the highest variability value among the screens displayed on the plurality of display devices may be determined as the main screen.

[0115] In one embodiment, the external electronic device (240) may increase the sound intensity of the main display device or the remaining display devices based on the screen variability value of the display device displaying the main screen. For example, if the display device displaying the main screen is determined to be the display device (220), and if the screen variability value of the display device (220) is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, the sound intensity of the display device (220) may be increased, and the sound intensity of the display devices (210, 230) may be decreased or turned off. If the screen variability value of the display device (220) is equal to or less than a predetermined value, the sound intensity of the display device (220) may be decreased, and the sound intensity of the display devices (210, 230) may be decreased or turned off. In other words, in a situation where the main screen (e.g., a game execution screen) is displayed on the display device arranged in the center, and other content such as additional information and advertisements are displayed on the remaining display devices (210, 230), the sounds of the main screen and the additional screens may be controlled depending on the progress status of the main screen. During the game (when the volatility value is greater than a predetermined value), the sound of the main screen is focused, and during the game pause (when the volatility value is less than a predetermined value), the sound of the additional screen (210, 220) is focused to provide a three-dimensional sound.

[0116] FIG. 5A illustrates an example of a connection structure of display devices according to one embodiment. FIG. 5B illustrates an example of a connection structure of display devices according to one embodiment. FIG. 5C illustrates an example of a connection structure of a display device and a server according to one embodiment. FIG. 5D illustrates an example of a connection structure of a display device and an external electronic device according to one embodiment. In one embodiment, the display device (510) may include a different type of display device than the display devices (210, 220, 230).

[0117] In one embodiment, the display device (510) may have information other than audio setting information, screen setting information, etc. that the display devices (210, 220, 230) can support.

[0118] Referring to FIG. 5A, the display device (210) can serve as a master device. Although not shown in the drawing, the display device (210) can receive an input signal from a source device (e.g., source device (250)), generate a screen and sound control signal to be displayed on the display device (510, 230) based on the input signal, and then transmit the same to the display device (510). The display device (510) can output a screen and sound based on the control signal received from the display device (210), and transmit a screen and sound control signal to be displayed on the display device (230) to the display device (230). The display device (230) can output a screen and sound based on the control signal received from the display device (510).

[0119] Referring to FIG. 5B, the display device (210) can serve as a master device. Although not shown in the drawing, the display device (210) can receive an input signal from a source device (e.g., source device (250)), generate a screen and sound control signal to be displayed on the display device (220, 510) based on the input signal, and then transmit the same to the display device (220). The display device (220) can output a screen and sound based on the control signal received from the display device (210), and transmit the screen and sound control signal to be displayed on the display device (510) to the display device (510). The display device (510) can output a screen and sound based on the control signal received from the display device (220).

[0120] Even in a connection structure such as that illustrated in FIGS. 5A and 5B, a master device or an external electronic device (not illustrated) can identify screen variability values of multiple display devices and control sound intensity. In other words, the operations of the master device and the external electronic device described in the descriptions with respect to FIGS. 3A, 3B, 4A, and 4B can be equally applied to the connection between heterogeneous display devices. However, since the device capabilities of the display devices (210, 220, and 230) and the display device (510) may be different, before performing the operations of the master device and the external electronic device described in the descriptions with respect to FIGS. 3A, 3B, 4A, and 4B, the master device and the external electronic device can check the device capability information of the display device (510).

[0121] Referring to FIG. 5c, a connection structure of display devices according to one embodiment may include a connection structure between a server device (620) and a plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230). The server device (520) may be a device that includes the functions of both a source device (250) and an external electronic device (240).

[0122] In one embodiment, when all of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230) operate in extended display mode, each of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230) can receive input signals from the server device (520).

[0123] In one embodiment, multiple display devices (210, 220, 230) can exchange information regarding their respective sound output settings. In other words, the sound level of each display can be set through information exchange between the display devices. One of the multiple display devices (210, 220, 230), such as a master device or server device (520), can generate the sound level setting information.

[0124] In one embodiment, when multiple display devices (210, 220, 230) all operate in a single display mode, each of the multiple display devices (210, 220, 230) receives an input signal from the server device (520), and the sound level can be adjusted based on the screen volatility value of the display device on which the main screen is displayed. This can be controlled by the master device, which is either the server device (520) or one of the multiple display devices (210, 220, 230). In other words, whether to output sound for the main screen and the additional screen can be determined based on the display status of the main screen.

[0125] In one embodiment, the server device (520) or master device can control sound output based on the degree of current variation of the display device. Since the current variation value used in the panel of the display device that displays a screen with a large variability value is greater, the server device (520) or master device can increase the sound intensity of the display device with a large current variation value.

[0126] In one embodiment, in a signal transmitted from a SoC or scaler of multiple display devices to a panel, the degree of change in H pixels and V pixels can be compared to increase the sound intensity of the display device that changes the most.

[0127] Referring to FIG. 5D, display devices (210, 220, 230) according to one embodiment may be connected to an external electronic device (240), respectively. The external electronic device (240) may identify the operation modes of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230). The external electronic device (240) may control the sound output of the plurality of display devices (210, 220, 230) based on the identified display modes.

If the at least two devices are already connected via an HDMI connection, the electronic device can identify that the extended display function of the at least two devices is activated when identifying that the at least two devices are physically connected via a hinge in addition to the HDMI connection. The meaning of the extended display function being activated may have the same meaning as the meaning of operating in an extended display mode.

[0138] In one embodiment, the electronic device may determine that the extended display function of at least two devices is activated when a user input for activating the extended display function of at least one of the at least two devices is identified.

[0139] According to one embodiment, in operation 620, the electronic device can identify a variability value indicating a degree of screen change of at least two devices based on a video signal input to the electronic device.

[0140] In one embodiment, an electronic device can identify information about screens displayed on a plurality of display devices from an input signal. The electronic device can identify a variability value of the screens displayed on each display device based on the input signal.

[0141] In one embodiment, the electronic device can identify the variability values of at least two devices based on the degree of variation in pixels displayed on the screens of the at least two devices. For example, the degree of variation in H pixels and V pixels can be identified to identify the variability values of each device.

[0142] In one embodiment, the electronic device may perform object recognition using artificial intelligence technology or the like to identify the location of the object, the degree to which the object moves, and the like, and identify the volatility values of the display devices based thereon.

[0143] According to one embodiment, in operation 630, the electronic device can increase the sound intensity of the speakers of the first device having the highest variability value among the at least two devices. By increasing the sound intensity of the device having the highest variability value, a three-dimensional sound service can be provided.

[0144] In one embodiment, the first device may include at least two speakers (e.g., a first speaker and a second speaker).

[0145] According to one embodiment, in operation 640, the electronic device may increase the sound intensity of a speaker disposed on a first side of a second device of the at least two devices.

[0146] In one embodiment, when the number of at least two devices is three, the second device may be any two devices other than the first device.
