Description

Adaptive early transmission method and device using guard interval in time division duplex system

[0001] The present disclosure relates to an electronic device for controlling uplink (UL) signal transmission timing for signal transmission and reception within a guard period in a TDD (time division duplex) system and an operating method thereof.

[0002] Looking back at the evolution of wireless communication over successive generations, technologies have primarily been developed for human-facing services such as voice, multimedia, and data. With the commercialization of 5G (5th-generation) communication systems, an explosive increase in connected devices is expected to be connected to communication networks. Examples of networked objects include vehicles, robots, drones, home appliances, displays, smart sensors installed in various infrastructures, construction equipment, and factory equipment. Mobile devices are expected to evolve into diverse form factors, including augmented reality glasses, virtual reality headsets, and holographic devices. In the 6th-generation (6G) era, efforts are being made to develop improved 6G communication systems to connect hundreds of billions of devices and objects and provide diverse services. For this reason, 6G communication systems are often referred to as "beyond 5G."

[0003] The 6G communication system, expected to be realized around 2030, will have a maximum transmission speed of terabytes per second (i.e., 1,000 gigabits per second) and a wireless latency of 100 microseconds (μsec). In other words, compared to 5G, the transmission speed in a 6G communication system will be 50 times faster, while the wireless latency will be reduced to one-tenth.

[0004] To achieve these high data rates and ultra-low latency, 6G communication systems are being considered for implementation in the terahertz band (e.g., from 95 gigahertz (GHz) to 3 terahertz (THz)). Compared to the millimeter wave (mmWave) band introduced in 5G, the terahertz band is expected to experience more severe path loss and atmospheric absorption, making it more crucial to ensure signal reach, or coverage, in this band. Key technologies to ensure coverage include radio frequency (RF) components, antennas, new waveforms that offer better coverage than OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing), beamforming, and multiple antenna transmission technologies such as massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO), full-dimensional MIMO (FD-MIMO), array antennas, and large-scale antennas. In addition, new technologies such as metamaterial-based lenses and antennas, high-dimensional spatial multiplexing using orbital angular momentum (OAM), and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) are being discussed to improve the coverage of terahertz band signals.

[0005] In addition, in order to improve frequency efficiency and system network, 6G communication systems are developing full duplex technology that utilizes the same frequency resources at the same time for uplink and downlink; network technology that integrates satellites and high-altitude platform stations (HAPS); network structure innovation technology that supports mobile base stations and enables optimization and automation of network operation; dynamic spectrum sharing technology through collision avoidance based on spectrum usage prediction; AI-based communication technology that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) from the design stage and internalizes end-to-end AI support functions to realize system optimization; and next-generation distributed computing technology that realizes services with complexity that exceeds the limits of terminal computing capabilities by utilizing ultra-high-performance communication and computing resources (mobile edge computing (MEC), cloud, etc.). In addition, efforts are being made to further strengthen connectivity between devices, further optimize networks, promote softwareization of network entities, and increase the openness of wireless communications through the design of new protocols to be used in 6G communication systems, the implementation of hardware-based security environments, the development of mechanisms for the safe use of data, and the development of technologies for maintaining privacy.

[0006] Research and development of these 6G communication systems are expected to enable a new level of hyper-connected experience through the hyper-connectivity of 6G communication systems, which encompass not only connections between things but also connections between people and things. Specifically, 6G communication systems are expected to enable services such as truly immersive extended reality (Truly Immersive XR), high-fidelity mobile holograms, and digital replicas. Furthermore, services such as remote surgery, industrial automation, and emergency response, which are provided through enhanced security and reliability, will find application in diverse fields such as industry, healthcare, automotive, and home appliances.

[0007] The present disclosure relates to a method for utilizing idle resources within a guard period while taking into account propagation delay between a base station and a terminal.

[0036] The various embodiments of the present disclosure described below illustrate a hardware-based approach as an example. However, since the various embodiments of the present disclosure include techniques utilizing both hardware and software, the various embodiments of the present disclosure do not exclude a software-based approach.

[0037] FIG. 1 illustrates an example of performing additional UL signal transmission using idle resources of a guard period according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0038] Referring to FIG. 1, BS (100) can transmit and receive downlink signals and / or uplink signals with UE1 (110) and UE2 (120) based on TDD configuration. Based on the TDD configuration, time resources allocated to downlink signals are indicated by "D", time resources allocated to uplink signals are indicated by "U", and a guard period can be set for time resources between the time resources allocated to downlink signals and the time resources allocated to uplink signals.

[0039] The distance between BS (100) and UE1 (110) may be shorter than the distance between BS (100) and UE2 (120), and the first propagation delay between BS (100) and UE1 (110) ) is the second propagation delay between BS (100) and UE2 (120). ) may be smaller.

[0040] The T0 period represents the idle time from when the downlink signal reception of UE1 (110) is completed until the uplink signal transmission is performed. The T1 period represents the time that UE1 (110) must wait at T0 until the downlink signal reception of UE2 (120) is completed. The T2 period (= T0-T1) represents the time from when the downlink signal reception of UE2 (120) is completed until the uplink signal transmission of UE1 (110).

[0041] Additional uplink signal transmission within idle resources within the guard period may be possible after reception of the downlink signal of the UE furthest from the BS (100) is completed in order to avoid interference (UL-to-DL). When UE1 (110) transmits an uplink signal in the T1 period, the uplink signal transmitted by UE1 (110) may act as interference (UL-to-DL) for the downlink signal received by UE2 (120) from the BS (100).

[0042] First propagation delay ( ) is the second propagation delay ( ) is smaller than that of UE1 (110), the waiting time for uplink signal transmission after receiving a downlink signal may be relatively longer than that of UE2 (120). In the case of UE1 (110) which is close to BS (100), uplink signal transmission may be possible within a guard period after reception of a downlink signal of UE2 (120) which is far from BS (100) is completed (i.e., T2 period). According to one embodiment, the uplink signal that can be transmitted within the guard period may include at least one of a sounding reference signal (SRS), a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) signal, and a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) signal.

[0043] In one embodiment, as the number of UE antenna ports increases in a 6G communication environment, it is expected that more SRS resources will be required, and 6G multi-layer transmission can be supported while minimizing additional uplink resource consumption by utilizing idle resources within a guard period.

[0044] In one embodiment, the extent to which idle resources can be utilized within a guard period varies depending on the locations of UEs, making it difficult to fixally allocate idle resources within a guard period as uplink (UL) resources, and flexible operation that takes into account the locations of UEs may be possible.

[0045] As an example of an adaptive early transmission operation, for periodic / semi-persistent uplink signal transmission (SRS, PUCCH, PUSCH) in idle resources of a guard period, BS (100) may transmit control information to UE1 (110), and UE1 (110) may perform adaptive early transmission based on the control information. According to one embodiment, BS (100) may transmit separate control information other than the control information to UE1 (110) for deactivation of adaptive early transmission.

[0046] According to one embodiment, BS (100) may transmit control information for adaptive early transmission to UE1 (110) via MAC (medium access control) CE (control element). According to one embodiment, the control information for adaptive early transmission may include at least one of uplink resource information to which adaptive early transmission is to be applied, a TA (timing advance) value that determines how much earlier uplink signal transmission is to be performed than a periodic / semi-persistent uplink signal transmission time that the UE already knows, an adaptive early transmission start time, and an adaptive early transmission duration.

[0048] According to one embodiment, the TA value for adaptive early transmission is in sampling time units (N TC ; T c = sampling time), symbol units (M symbols), and absolute time values (T sec). In one embodiment, the TA value for adaptive early transmission may be determined based on the propagation delay of the corresponding UE.

[0049] In one embodiment, when a slot to which an uplink (UL) resource belongs changes due to adaptive early transmission, control information for adaptive early transmission may include information about the changed slot.

[0050] In one embodiment, the adaptive early transmission start time is a slot offset (K from the time the control signal is received). S It may include at least one of the following: SFN (system frame number), subframe number, slot number, and symbol position (applied from after slot).

[0051] According to one embodiment, the adaptive early transmission duration may include at least one of time information, the number of uplink (UL) signal transmissions from a start time of the adaptive early transmission, and the duration information for which the adaptive early transmission lasts.

[0052] According to one embodiment, BS (100) may transmit control information for deactivation of adaptive early transmission to UE1 (110) via MAC CE and / or downlink control information (DCI).

[0053] According to one embodiment, the control information for deactivation of the adaptive early transmission may include at least one of an indicator indicating termination of the adaptive early transmission, uplink (UL) resource information for terminating the adaptive early transmission, and a time point of stopping the adaptive early transmission. The uplink resource information may include at least one of a resource ID, a resource set ID, and a CSI report configuration ID. According to an embodiment, the control information for the adaptive early transmission includes an SRS resource ID (e.g., SRS resource ID = V), symbol information to which adaptive early transmission will be applied (e.g., ahead of 4 symbols), and slot offset information to which adaptive early transmission will be applied (e.g., slot offset = K). A ) may include at least one of the following: According to one embodiment, the base station may transmit (or set) control information for the adaptive early transmission to the UE via MAC CE and / or DCI.

[0056] The UE may transmit an SRS based on a preset SRS resource ID (e.g., SRS resource ID = V) in slot 1. According to one embodiment, symbols included in slot 1 may be allocated as time resources for downlink (DL) signal transmission and reception, a guard period, and time resources for uplink (UL) signal transmission and reception.

[0057] The UE selects slot K based on the control information for adaptive early transmission. A Adaptive early transmission can be initiated in slot K. AIn the UE, the SRS can be transmitted in a symbol that is set to be a symbol (e.g., 4 symbols) ahead of a preset SRS resource ID (e.g., SRS resource ID = V). According to one embodiment, in slot K A The symbols included in can be allocated as time resources for downlink (DL) signal transmission and reception, a guard period, and time resources for uplink (UL) signal transmission and reception.

[0058] The base station may transmit control information for deactivation of adaptive early transmission in slot J to the UE. According to one embodiment, symbols included in slot J may be allocated as time resources for downlink (DL) signal transmission and reception. According to one embodiment, the control information for deactivation of the adaptive early transmission includes a deactivation indicator, an SRS resource ID (e.g., SRS resource ID = V), and a slot offset (e.g., slot offset = K) at which deactivation of the adaptive early transmission starts. D ) may include at least one of the following: According to one embodiment, the base station may transmit (or set) control information for deactivation of the adaptive early transmission to the UE via MAC CE and / or DCI.

[0059] UE is slot J+K DIn the adaptive early transmission, the adaptive early transmission may be stopped based on the control information for deactivation of the adaptive early transmission, and the SRS may be transmitted based on the previously set SRS resource ID (e.g., SRS resource ID = V). According to one embodiment, slot J+K D The symbols included in can be allocated as time resources for downlink (DL) signal transmission and reception, a guard period, and time resources for uplink (UL) signal transmission and reception.

[0060] FIG. 3 illustrates an example of applying an adaptive early transmission method according to one embodiment of the present disclosure to a periodic / semi-persistent CSI report.

[0068] Referring to (1) of FIG. 4, the base station can set a total of M (e.g., M=64) adaptive early transmission states through RRC signaling. In the present disclosure, the total of M adaptive early transmission states may also be referred to as a full set configuration.

[0069] Referring to (1) of Fig. 4, the full set configuration can be indexed differently based on the slot offset indicating the start time of the adaptive early transmission and the symbol information (Ahead of # symbols) indicating how early the adaptive early transmission starts.

[0070] For example, if the slot offset is 1 and the symbol information (Ahead of # symbols) is 1, the full state index can be set to 0. For example, if the slot offset is 1 and the symbol information (Ahead of # symbols) is 2, the full state index can be set to 1. For example, if the slot offset is 16 and the symbol information (Ahead of # symbols) is 4, the full state index can be set to 63.

N (i.e., set size) of the subset configuration and the subset configuration configuration (i.e., N states) may be updated.

[0073] Referring to (2) of FIG. 4, the subset configuration can be indexed differently based on a full state index, a slot offset indicating the start time of adaptive early transmission, and symbol information (Ahead of # symbols) indicating how early the adaptive early transmission starts.

[0074] For example, if the full state index is 0, the slot offset is 1, and the symbol information (Ahead of # symbols) is 1, the subset state index can be set to 0. For example, if the full state index is 1, the slot offset is 1, and the symbol information (Ahead of # symbols) is 2, the subset state index can be set to 1. For example, if the full state index is 13, the slot offset is 4, and the symbol information (Ahead of # symbols) is 2, the subset state index can be set to 7.

[0075] In one embodiment, when M is small, the subset configuration illustrated in (2) of FIG. 4 may be omitted.

[0076] Referring to (3) of FIG. 4, the base station may set uplink (UL) resource information to which adaptive early transmission is to be applied through MAC CE or DCI based on the full set configuration and / or the subset configuration, and activate at least one state among N states. According to one embodiment, the activation information transmitted from the base station to the UE through MAC CE or DCI may include an SRS resource ID (e.g., SRS resource ID = 1) and a subset state index (e.g., subset state index = 3).

[0077] For example, when N=8, the subset state index can be set to 3 bits. For example, when the subset configuration is not set and M=64, the subset state index can be set to 6 bits to indicate an index for the full set configuration.

[0078] Referring to (4) of FIG. 4, the base station may deactivate adaptive early transmission by indicating uplink (UL) resource information and a stop point for adaptive early transmission through MAC CE or DCI based on the full set configuration and / or the subset configuration. According to one embodiment, the deactivation information transmitted from the base station to the UE through MAC CE or DCI may include at least one of a deactivation indicator, an SRS resource ID (e.g., SRS resource ID = 1), and a deactivation slot offset (e.g., deactivation slot offset = 3).

[0079] In one embodiment, if the base station needs to apply an adaptive early transmission different from the one indicated, the base station may transmit activation signaling for the adaptive early transmission to the UE without deactivating the adaptive early transmission.

[0080] FIG. 5 is a diagram for explaining SRS resource setting for adaptive early transmission according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0081] Referring to (1) of FIG. 5, the base station can set a total of M (e.g., M=64) adaptive early transmission states through RRC signaling. In the present disclosure, the total of M adaptive early transmission states may also be referred to as a full set configuration.
