[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application No. 63 / 582,292, filed on September 13, 2023. The disclosure of the above patent application is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.TECHNICAL FIELD

[0003] The present invention relates to the field of wireless communication technologies, and in particular, to a transmission method for controlling information, and an apparatus, a device, a system and a storage medium.BACKGROUND

[0004] Communication can be divided into three levels: bit communication (s) , semantic communication (s) , and effectiveness communication (s) . In the past 60 years, wireless communication has focused on the level of bit communication, the lowest level, which is called as a “technical problem” to ensure an absolute accuracy of bits transmitted from a transmitter to a receiver. Effectiveness communication, as the highest level, was proposed to achieve an ultimate goal of communications, which is called as an “effectiveness problem” to ensure a success of conveying a semantic meaning to the receiver leads to the desired conduct on the receiver side.

[0005] This background information is provided to reveal information believed by the applicant to be of possible relevance to the present disclosure. No admission is necessarily intended, nor should be construed, that any of the preceding information constitutes prior art against the present disclosure.SUMMARY

[0006] In a first aspect, an embodiment of the present disclosure provides a transmission method for controlling information, where the method includes:

[0007] generating first control information, where the first control information includes at least one piece of indication information respectively corresponding to at least one piece of semantic information, and each of the at least one piece of semantic information indicates a corresponding action;

[0008] sending the first control information.

[0009] A central device generates first control information and then sends first control information, where the first control information includes at least one piece of indication information respectively corresponding to at least one piece of semantic information, and each of the at least one piece of semantic information indicates a corresponding action. In this way, as the first control information includes indication information corresponding to semantic information, more effective and flexible communication can be achieved. In addition, if the user device (s) receiving the first control information can understand the meanings or contents of the indication information, there might be no need to transmit the semantic information, reducing signaling transmission overhead.

[0010] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, each of the at least one piece of semantic information corresponds to a controlling message in natural language respectively. Since the indication information included in the first control information corresponds to at least one piece of semantic information each of which corresponds to a controlling message in natural language respectively, an open vocabulary can be supported in controlling, more effective and flexible communication can be achieved, backward and forward compatibility can be supported, and cross-modality functionality can be accommodated.

[0011] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the at least one piece of indication information is determined according to a mapping relationship between the at least one piece of indication information and the at least one piece of semantic information. The use of a mapping relationship may reduce the computational overhead for determining the indication information.

[0012] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the method further includes:

[0013] generating second control information, where the second control information includes one or more pieces of semantic information of the at least one piece of semantic information; and

[0014] sending the second control information.

[0015] The central device may form first control information and second control information to transmit the controlling message, which allows for more efficient use of radio resources and provides greater flexibility in terms of error correction and retransmission.

[0016] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, each of one or more pieces of indication information  indicates a corresponding piece of semantic information in the one or more pieces of semantic information included in the second control information, where the at least one piece of indication information includes the one or more pieces of indication information. The central device may inform the user device (s) of the one or more pieces of semantic information respectively corresponding to one or more pieces of indication information through the second control information, and then the user device (s) can know the semantic information corresponding to each of the one or more piece of indication formation, or in other words, the user device (s) can understand the meaning or content of each of the one or more pieces of indication information. Then, in subsequent communication, the central device can instruct the user device (s) to perform an action by transmitting corresponding indication information, and there may be no need to transmit the corresponding semantic information again if the semantic information is not changed. In this way, the need for transmitting redundant or unnecessary information can be reduced. This helps to reduce signaling transmission overhead and optimizes the use of resources.

[0017] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, a mapping relationship between one or more pieces of indication information and one or more pieces of semantic information is pre-configured for a user device via higher layer signaling; or pre-stored in the user device; or indicated via control information, where the at least one piece of indication information includes the one or more pieces of indication information and at least one piece of semantic information includes the one or more pieces of semantic information. By pre-configuring or pre-storing the mapping relationship, or informing the user device of the mapping relationship directly, the user device can quickly and accurately associate the indication information with its corresponding semantic information. This eliminates the need for repeated interpretation or analysis of the control information, saving time and processing resources.

[0018] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the higher layer signaling includes:

[0019] media access control (MAC) layer signaling or radio resource control (RRC) layer signaling.

[0020] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the at least one piece of indication information includes at least one token one-to-one corresponding to at least one piece of first semantic information in the at least one piece of semantic information. Token may be used as indication information. A token may serve as a unique identifier for a specific piece of semantic information, which can be mapped to its corresponding piece of semantic information. This approach provides a possible implementation manner for the mapping between indication information and can ensure that the receiving user device can accurately interpret the intended meaning of the control semantic information. In addition, by using a token-based approach, the mapping relationship can be established and managed efficiently and flexibly.

[0021] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, each of the at least one token is obtained based on a corresponding piece of first semantic information by using a pre-trained neural network. The central device may use a pre-trained neural network to translate semantic information to a corresponding token. The user device may obtain multiple candidate tokens from multiple pieces of semantic information by using the pre-trained neural network which has been configured in advance, and then the user device may obtain a target token relevant to the token carried in the first control information whereby the user device can understand the meaning or content of the control information. In this way, only a neural network is needed to be configured, and there may be no need to inform the user device of the semantic information represented by each token, and thus the mapping relationship can be established and managed efficiently and flexibly.

[0022] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the at least one piece of indication information includes at least one index one-to-one corresponding to at least one control information field bundle, each of the at least one control information field bundle includes multiple control information fields, and the at least one piece of semantic information includes at least one piece of bundle information each corresponding to one index in the at least one index and indicating multiple control information fields of a control information field bundle that the one index corresponds to. Each index corresponds to a specific control information field bundle which includes a set of control information fields, enabling a direct and straightforward relationship between the indication information and the control information field bundle. The central device can inform the user device of the mapping relationship between indices and control information field bundles, and then the central device can use an index to indicate multiple control information fields in subsequent communication. This simplification aids in efficient interpretation and understanding of the control information. In addition, by using indices, the indication information can be represented in a more compact form compared to directly including the entire control information fields.

[0023] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, each of the at least one piece of bundle information includes at least one type of following types of information: information indicating a single control information field, or information indicating an index of a control information field bundle. The control information field bundle may be defined with information indicating a single control information field and / or information indicating an index of an existing bundle. When a control information field bundle is defined upon an existing control information field bundle by using information indicating the index of the existing control information field bundle, the message (s) previously transmitted using a large number of bits, can now be compressed to a few bits, thereby increasing compression ratio. Thus the signaling overhead is reduced.

[0024] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the at least one index is obtained based on the at least one piece of bundle information and a one-to-one mapping relationship between one or more indexes and one or more pieces of bundle information, where the one or more indexes include the at least one index and the one or more pieces of bundle information include the at least one piece of bundle information.

[0025] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the at least one piece of indication information includes one or more pieces of position information, and each of the one or more pieces of position information corresponds to a respective one of the one or more pieces of semantic information included in the second control information.

[0026] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, each piece of position information includes starting position information and length information of a corresponding piece of semantic information.

[0027] By using position information, it becomes possible to indicate the specific position of semantic information within the second control information. This control allows for precise identification and manipulation of individual elements or subsets of the control information. It provides flexibility and fine-grained control over the semantic information associated with each position. What’s more, the use of position information enables efficient mapping between the indication information and semantic information. Instead of relying on indexing or lookup mechanisms, the position information directly points to the relevant semantic information. This reduces the computational overhead required for interpretation and retrieval, leading to improved efficiency.

[0028] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the first control information includes at least one first portion for carrying the at least one piece of indication information, where each of the at least one first portion carries one piece of the at least one piece of indication information.

[0029] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the first control information further includes a second portion for carrying mandatory control information.

[0030] By dividing the first control information into separate portions, independent processing and handling can be allowed. The system can focus specifically on interpreting and acting upon the indication information. This promotes modularity and enhances the overall efficiency of the control system. What’s more, since the indication information and mandatory control information are segregated, the indication information can be distinct and isolated from other types of control information, making the indication information easier to identify and interpret.

[0031] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the mandatory control information includes at least one of the following:

[0032] a downlink control information (DCI) format 0_1, cyclic redundancy check (CRC) , a carrier indicator, a  downlink feedback information (DFI) flag, an identifier for DCI formats, frequency domain resource assignment, time domain resource assignment, a frequency hopping flag, a modulation and coding scheme, a new data indicator, a redundancy version, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process number, a transmit power control (TPC) command for a scheduled physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) , or ChannelAccess-CPext.

[0033] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the at least one first portion indicates at least one of the following:

[0034] a bandwidth part indicator , a first downlink assignment index, a second downlink assignment index, a third downlink assignment index, a second TPC command for a scheduled PUSCH, an SRS resource set indicator, an SRS resource indicator, precoding information and the number of layers, second Precoding information, an antenna port, an SRS request, an SRS offset indicator, a CSI request, CBG transmission information (CBGTI) , PTRS-DMRS association, second PTRS-DMRS association, a beta_offset indicator, DMRS sequence initialization, a UL-SCH indicator, ChannelAccess-CPext-CAPC, open-loop power control parameter set indication, a priority indicator, an invalid symbol pattern indicator, a minimum applicable scheduling offset indicator, SCell dormancy indication, a sidelink assignment index, PDCCH monitoring adaptation indication.

[0035] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the first control information has a fixed mother code length. For the first control information of design, the same mother code length could be used to avoid puncturing to harm the performance.

[0036] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the first control information has a pre-defined number of first portions.

[0037] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, each of the pre-defined number of first portion has a fixed length.

[0038] Using a pre-defined number of first portions and a fixed length for carrying indication information can allow for low complexity of the user device.

[0039] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the pre-defined number is greater than one, and two or more first portions of the pre-defined number of first portions have different lengths. Using first portions of different lengths can provide flexibility in transmission of control information.

[0040] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, a length of the first control information is power of 2. Since many coding schemes, such as polar codes, are designed with efficient algorithms that work optimally when the code lengths are powers of 2, the length of power 2 is beneficial for encoding and decoding operations, and can  lead to faster encoding and decoding processes, reducing computational complexity and improving overall system performance.

[0041] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the at least one piece of indication information is carried by a first number of first portions in the pre-defined number of first portions, where the first number is an integer equal to or greater than 1 and equal to or less than the pre-defined number.

[0042] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, when there exists one or more other first portions than the first number of first portions in the pre-defined number of first portions, the one or more other first code blocks are padded with a pre-defined bit value. By padding the first code blocks other than the first number of first portions in the pre-defined number of first portions, a consistent format can be maintained and proper decoding can be ensured.

[0043] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the first control information further includes CRC bits which are encoded from the second portion and the first number of first portions. Since CRC bits are encoded from the transmitted second portion and the first number of first portion carrying indication information, the receiver can perform a CRC check on the received DCIs to verify their integrity.

[0044] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, each of the at least one first portion is a code block.

[0045] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the method further includes:

[0046] encoding the first control information via a first coding scheme.

[0047] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the first coding scheme includes polar code.

[0048] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the mandatory control information is carried by subchannels with highest reliability. By carrying the mandatory control information by subchannels with highest reliability, the likelihood of errors occurring in the mandatory control information is significantly reduced, thereby ensuring that critical control information is received accurately and reliably, minimizing the chances of misinterpretation or incorrect execution of commands.

[0049] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the method further includes:

[0050] encoding the second control information by using a second coding scheme.

[0051] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the second coding scheme includes at least one of: polar code, or low-density parity check (LDPC) code.

[0052] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the first control information includes multiple pieces of indication information and the second control information includes multiple pieces of semantic information which are concatenated. By applying the concatenated encoding on the second control information, if a particular part  encounters an error during decoding or execution, there is no need to further decode the subsequent parts. This allows for early termination of the decoding process, which can result in power savings.

[0053] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the multiple pieces of semantic information indicate a set of actions required to be executed in order.

[0054] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the first control information is sent over a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) .

[0055] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the second control information is sent over a PDCCH or a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) .

[0056] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the first control information is downlink control information or sidelink control information.

[0057] In a second aspect, an embodiment of the present disclosure provides a transmission method for controlling information, where the method includes:

[0058] obtaining first control information, where the first control information includes at least one piece of indication information respectively corresponding to at least one piece of semantic information, and each of the at least one piece of semantic information indicates a corresponding action;

[0059] operating according to the first control information.

[0060] A user device obtains first control information, where the first control information includes at least one piece of indication information respectively corresponding to at least one piece of semantic information, and each of the at least one piece of semantic information indicates a corresponding action. In this way, as the first control information includes indication information respectively corresponding to at least one piece of semantic information, more effective and flexible communication can be achieved. In addition, if the user device can understand the meanings or contents of the indication information, there might be no need to transmit the semantic information, reducing signaling transmission overhead.

[0061] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, each of the at least one piece of semantic information corresponds to a controlling message in natural language respectively.

[0062] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, each of one or more pieces of indication information indicates a corresponding piece of semantic information in the at least one piece of semantic information, where the at least one piece of indication formation includes the one or more pieces of indication information. In this way, the need for transmitting redundant or unnecessary information can be reduced. If the receiver already knows the mapping relationship between the indication information and the semantic information, there is no need to transmit the semantic information again. This helps to reduce signaling transmission overhead and facilitates efficient use of resources.

[0063] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the method further includes:

[0064] storing a mapping relationship between one or more pieces of indication information and one or more pieces of semantic information.

[0065] By storing a mapping relationship, the signaling transmission overhead can be reduced.

[0066] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the mapping relationship is predefined in a standard, or obtained via higher layer signaling, or obtained via control information. By preconfiguring or pre-storing the mapping relationship, or informing the user device of the mapping relationship directly, the user device can quickly and accurately associate the indication information with its corresponding semantic information. This eliminates the need for repeated interpretation or analysis of the control information, saving time and processing resources.

[0067] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the higher layer signaling includes media access control (MAC) layer signaling or radio resource control (RRC) layer signaling.

[0068] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the operating according to the first control information includes:

[0069] obtaining, according to the at least one piece of indication information and a mapping relationship between the at least one piece of indication information and the at least one piece of semantic information, the at least one piece of semantic information, where the one or more pieces of indication information include the at least one piece of indication information, and the one or more pieces of semantic information include the at least one piece of semantic information; and

[0070] performing, according to the at least one piece of semantic information, at least one control operation.

[0071] The user device can obtain the semantic information based on the indication information and the mapping relationship between the semantic information and the indication information. In this way, the user device can effectively obtain the relevant semantic information based on the provided indication information.

[0072] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the method further includes:

[0073] obtaining the second control information, where the second control information includes one or more pieces of the at least one piece of semantic information; and

[0074] obtaining the one or more pieces of semantic information from the second control information.

[0075] First control information and second control information may be generated to transmit controlling information, which allows for more efficient use of radio resources and provides greater flexibility in terms of error correction and retransmission.

[0076] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the operating according to the first control information includes:

[0077] in response to determining that a mapping relationship of a first piece of indication information has been stored, updating the mapping relationship of the first piece of indication information according to a first piece of semantic information, where the first piece of indication information corresponds to the first piece of semantic information, the at least one piece of indication information includes the first piece of indication information, and the one or more pieces of semantic information include the first piece of semantic information.

[0078] By updating the mapping relationship, the system can adapt to changes in the indication information and semantic information and ensure that the correct control operations are being performed.

[0079] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the operating according to the first control information includes:

[0080] in response to determining that a mapping relationship of a second piece of indication information has not been stored, storing a mapping relationship between the second piece of indication information and a second piece of semantic information, where the second piece of indication information corresponding to the second piece of semantic information, the at least one piece of indication information includes the second piece of indication information, and the one or more pieces of semantic information includes the second piece of semantic information.

[0081] By storing the mapping relationship of new indication information and its corresponding semantic information, it ensures that the system can recognize and respond to new indication and semantic information pairs, enabling it to perform new control operations as required.

[0082] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the operating according to the first control information further includes:

[0083] performing, according to the at least one piece of semantic information, at least one control operation.

[0084] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the at least one piece of indication information includes at least one token one-to-one corresponding to at least one piece of first semantic information in the at least one piece of semantic information. A token may serve as a unique identifier for a specific piece of indication information, which can then be mapped to its corresponding piece of semantic information. This approach provides a possible implementation manner for the mapping between indication information and semantic information, and can ensure that the user device can easily and accurately interpret the intended meaning of the control information. In addition, by using a token-based approach, the mapping relationship can be established and managed efficiently and flexibly.

[0085] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the at least one piece of indication information includes at least one index one-to-one corresponding to at least one control information field bundle, each of the at least one control information field bundle includes multiple control information fields, and the at least one piece of semantic information includes at least one piece of bundle information each corresponding to one index in the at least one index and indicating multiple control information fields of a control information field bundle that the one index corresponds to. Each index corresponds to a specific control information field bundle which includes a set of control information fields, enabling a direct and straightforward relationship between the indication information and the control information field bundle. The user device can be informed of the mapping relationship between indices and control information field bundles, and then the indices can be used to indicate multiple control information fields in subsequent communication. This simplification aids in efficient interpretation and understanding of the control information. In addition, by using indices, the indication information can be represented in a more compact form compared to directly including the entire control information fields.

[0086] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, each of the at least one piece of bundle information includes at least one type of following types of information: information indicating a single control information field, or information indicating an index of a control information field bundle. The control information field bundle may be defined with information indicating a single control information field and / or information indicating an index of an existing bundle. When a control information field bundle is defined upon an existing control information field bundle by using information indicating the index of the existing control information field bundle, the message (s) previously transmitted using a large number of bits, can now be compressed to a few bits, thereby increasing compression ratio, thereby reducing the signaling overhead.

[0087] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the at least one piece of indication information  includes at least one token one-to-one corresponding to at least one piece of first semantic information in the at least one piece of semantic information, and the operating according to the first control information includes:

[0088] obtaining, from multiple candidate tokens, at least one target token relevant to the at least one token, where the multiple candidate tokens are obtained from multiple pieces of candidate semantic information by using a pre-trained neural network; and

[0089] performing at least one control operation according to at least one pieces of candidate semantic information corresponding to the at least one target token.

[0090] The user device may use a pre-trained neural network, which is configured in advance, to obtain multiple candidate tokens from multiple pieces of semantic information. The user device may obtain the target token (s) from candidate tokens according to the token (s) carried in the first control information, and the perform the corresponding action (s) . Since the candidate tokens can be obtained by using the pre-configured neural network, the mapping relationship can be established and managed efficiently and flexibly, and there may be no need to inform the user device of the semantic information represented by each token.

[0091] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the at least one piece of indication information includes one or more pieces of position information one-to-one corresponding to one or more pieces of semantic information of the at least one piece of semantic information.

[0092] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, each piece of the one or more pieces of position information includes starting position information and length information of a corresponding piece of semantic information.

[0093] By using position information, it becomes possible to indicate the specific position of semantic information within the second control information. This control allows for precise identification and manipulation of individual elements or subsets of the control information. It provides flexibility and fine-grained control over the semantic information associated with each position. What’s more, the use of position information enables efficient mapping between the indication information and semantic information. Instead of relying on complex indexing or lookup mechanisms, the position information directly points to the relevant semantic information. This reduces the computational overhead required for interpretation and retrieval, leading to improved efficiency.

[0094] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the method further includes:

[0095] obtaining second control information, where the second control information includes the one or more pieces of semantic information; and

[0096] the operating according to the first control information includes:

[0097] obtaining, according to each of the one or more pieces of position information, a respective piece of semantic information from the second control information; and

[0098] performing, according to the one or more pieces of semantic information, at least one control operation.

[0099] The user device can obtain the semantic information from the second control information according to the position information included in the first control information and then perform corresponding control operations. By using the position information, the user device can directly identify the semantic information in the second control information, which can reduce complexity and computational overhead in identification of semantic information from the second control information.

[0100] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the first control information includes at least one first portion for carrying the at least one piece of indication information, where each of the at least one first portion carries one piece of the at least one piece of indication information.

[0101] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the first control information further includes a second portion for carrying mandatory control information.

[0102] By dividing the first control information into separate portions, independent processing and handling can be allowed.

[0103] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the mandatory control information includes at least one of the following:

[0104] a downlink control information (DCI) format 0_1, cyclic redundancy check (CRC) , a carrier indicator, a downlink feedback information (DFI) flag, an identifier for DCI formats, frequency domain resource assignment, time domain resource assignment, a frequency hopping flag, a modulation and coding scheme, a new data indicator, a redundancy version, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process number, a transmit power control (TPC) command for a scheduled physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) , or ChannelAccess-CPext.

[0105] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the at least one first portion indicates at least one of the following:

[0106] a bandwidth part indicator , a first downlink assignment index, a second downlink assignment index, a  third downlink assignment index, a second TPC command for a scheduled PUSCH, an SRS resource set indicator, an SRS resource indicator, precoding information and the number of layers, second Precoding information, an antenna port, an SRS request, an SRS offset indicator, a CSI request, CBG transmission information (CBGTI) , PTRS-DMRS association, second PTRS-DMRS association, a beta_offset indicator, DMRS sequence initialization, a UL-SCH indicator, ChannelAccess-CPext-CAPC, open-loop power control parameter set indication, a priority indicator, an invalid symbol pattern indicator, a minimum applicable scheduling offset indicator, SCell dormancy indication, a sidelink assignment index, PDCCH monitoring adaptation indication.

[0107] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the first control information has a fixed mother code length. For the first control information of design, the same mother code length could be used to avoid puncturing to harm the performance.

[0108] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the first control information has a pre-defined number of first portions.

[0109] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, each of the pre-defined number of first portion has a fixed length.

[0110] Using a pre-defined number of first portions and a fixed length for carrying indication information can allow for low complexity of the user device.

[0111] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the pre-defined number is greater than one, and two or more first portions of the pre-defined number of first portions have different lengths. Using first portions of different lengths can provide flexibility in transmission of control information.

[0112] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, a length of the first control information is power of 2.

[0113] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the at least one piece of indication information is carried by a first number of first portions in the pre-defined number of first portions, where the first number is an integer equal to or greater than 1 and equal to or less than the pre-defined number.

[0114] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, when there exists one or more other first portions than the first number of first portions in the pre-defined number of first portions, the one or more other first code blocks  are padded with a pre-defined bit value. By padding the first code blocks other than the first number of first portions in the pre-defined number of first portions, a consistent format can be maintained and proper decoding can be ensured.

[0115] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the first control information further includes CRC bits which are encoded from the second portion and the first number of first portions. Since CRC bits are encoded from the transmitted second portion and the first number of first portions, the user device can perform a CRC check on the received DCIs to verify their integrity.

[0116] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, each of the at least one first portion is a code block.

[0117] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the method further includes:

[0118] decoding the first control information via a first decoding scheme.

[0119] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the first decoding scheme includes polar code.

[0120] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the mandatory control information is carried by subchannels with highest reliability. By carrying the mandatory control information by subchannels with highest reliability, the likelihood of errors occurring in the mandatory control information is significantly reduced, thereby ensuring that critical control information is received accurately and reliably, minimizing the chances of misinterpretation or incorrect execution of commands.

[0121] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the decoding the first control information via the first decoding scheme includes:

[0122] performing a first decoding attempt on a first code block via a first decoding scheme, where the first code block carries mandatory control information; and

[0123] performing at least one further decoding attempt until a further decoding attempt is successful, where each of the at least one further decoding attempt is performed on one more code block than a previous decoding attempt.

[0124] By attempting to decode each code block in a progressive manner, the system utilizes the previously decoded information to improve the chances of successfully decoding the first control information. What’s more, the iterative attempts allow the system to optimize resource utilization. Instead of blindly attempting all possible combinations at once, the system gradually narrows down the possibilities, focusing on a specific code block in each attempt. This reduces computational complexity and efficiently utilizes resources.

[0125] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the method further includes:

[0126] decoding the second control information by using a second decoding scheme.

[0127] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the second decoding scheme includes at least one of: polar code, or low-density parity check (LDPC) code.

[0128] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the first control information includes multiple pieces of indication information, and the second control information includes multiple pieces of semantic information which are concatenated. By applying the concatenated encoding on the second control information, if a particular part encounters an error during decoding or execution, there is no need to further decode the subsequent parts. This allows for early termination of the decoding process, which can result in power savings.

[0129] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the multiple pieces of semantic information indicate a set of actions required to be executed in order. That is to say, several actions can be required via a single piece of control information, which improves the efficiency of the system

[0130] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the method further includes:

[0131] in response to a failure in decoding a piece of semantic information in the second control information, stopping the decoding of the second control information.

[0132] Since the pieces of semantic information in the second control information are not independent, but relate to each other, if a piece of semantic information fails to be decoded, it makes no sense to further decode the subsequent blocks. The decoding can be early terminated to save power.

[0133] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the first control information is obtained over a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) .

[0134] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the second control information is obtained over a PDCCH or a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) .

[0135] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the first control information is downlink control information or sidelink control information.

[0136] In a third aspect, an embodiment of the present disclosure provides a first apparatus including various modules configured to execute the transmission method for controlling information according to the first aspect or any possible implementation of the first aspect.

[0188] To describe the technical solutions in embodiments of the present invention or in the prior art more clearly, the following briefly introduces the accompanying drawings needed for describing the embodiments or the prior art.

[0189] Communication can be divided into three levels: bit communication (s) , semantic communication (s) , and effectiveness communication (s) .

[0190] Wireless communication system heavily relies on pre-negotiated (standardized) contents and formats of controlling messages, which may cause backward and / or forward compatibility issue among different communication system.

[0191] For illustrative purposes, specific example embodiments will now be explained in greater detail in conjunction with the figures.

[0192] The embodiments set forth herein represent information sufficient to practice and illustrate ways of practicing such subject matter. Upon reading the following description in light of the accompanying figures, those of skill in the art will understand the concepts of the claimed subject matter and will recognize applications of these concepts not particularly addressed herein. It should be understood that these concepts and applications fall within the scope of the disclosure and the accompanying claims.

[0193] Moreover, it will be appreciated that any module, component, or device disclosed herein that executes instructions may include, or otherwise have access to, a non-transitory computer / processor readable storage medium or media for storage of information, such as computer / processor readable instructions, data structures, program modules and / or other data. A non-exhaustive list of examples of non-transitory computer / processor readable storage media includes magnetic cassettes, magnetic tape, magnetic disk storage or other magnetic storage devices, optical disks such as compact disc read-only memory (CD-ROM) , digital video discs or digital versatile discs (i.e., DVDs) , Blu-ray DiscTM, or other optical storage, volatile and non-volatile, removable and non-removable media  implemented in any method or technology, random-access memory (RAM) , read-only memory (ROM) , electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) , flash memory or other memory technology. Any such non-transitory computer / processor storage media may be part of a device / apparatus or accessible or connectable thereto. Computer / processor readable / executable instructions to implement a method, an application or a module described herein may be stored or otherwise held by such non-transitory computer / processor readable storage media.

[0194] Further, in the disclosure, the word “a” or “an” when used in conjunction with the term “comprising” or “including” in the claims and / or the specification may mean “one” , but it is also consistent with the meaning of “one or more” , “at least one” , and “one or more than one” unless the content clearly dictates otherwise. Similarly, the word “another” may mean at least a second or more unless the content clearly dictates otherwise.

[0195] The terms “coupled” , “coupling” or “connected” as used herein can have several different meanings depending on the context in which these terms are used. For example, as used herein, the terms coupled, coupling, or connected can indicate that two elements or devices are directly connected to one another or connected to one another through one or more intermediate elements or devices via a mechanical element depending on the particular context. The term “and / or” herein when used in association with a list of items means any one or more of the items comprising that list.

[0196] FIG. 1 is a simplified schematic illustration of a communication system according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0197] Referring to FIG. 1, as an illustrative example without limitation, a simplified schematic illustration of a communication system is provided. The communication system 100 (which may be the wireless system in FIG. 1) comprises a radio access network 120. The radio access network 120 may be a next generation (e.g. sixth generation (6G) or later) radio access network, or a legacy (e.g. 5G, 4G, 3G or 2G) radio access network. One or more communication electric device (ED) 110a, 110b, 110c, 110d, 110e, 110f, 110g, 110h, 110i, 110j (generically referred to as 110) may be interconnected to one another or connected to one or more network nodes (170a, 170b, generically referred to as 170) in the radio access network 120. A core network 130 may be a part of the communication system and may be dependent or independent of the radio access technology used in the communication system 100. Also the communication system 100 comprises a public switched telephone network (PSTN) 140, the internet 150, and other networks 160.

[0198] The uplink messages / data transmitted between the central device (e.g., the network node 170) and the sensing device (e.g., ED 180) could be carried in higher layer signaling, such as RRC signaling, or MAC layer  signaling. Or, they could be carried in physical layer signaling, e.g., UCI. Or they could be carried in the combination of the higher layer signaling and the physical signaling. It could be noted that the message in the present disclosure could be replaced with information, which may be carried in one single message, or be carried in more than one separate message. The downlink messages / data transmitted between the central device and the ED 110 could be carried in higher layer signaling, such as RRC signaling, or MAC layer signaling. Or, they could be carried in physical layer signaling, e.g., UCI. Or they could be carried in the combination of the higher layer signaling and the physical signaling. It could be noted that the message in the present disclosure could be replaced with information, which may be carried in one single message, or be carried in more than one separate message.

[0199] Custom network power savings implementations can be considered where an operator performs power saving manually based on heuristics, traffic load management and balancing.

[0200] FIG. 2 is a schematic illustration of an example communication system according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0201] FIG. 2 illustrates an example communication system 100. In general, the communication system 100 enables multiple wireless or wired elements to communicate data and other content. The purpose of the communication system 100 may be to provide content, such as voice, data, video, and / or text, via broadcast, multicast, groupcast, unicast, etc. The communication system 100 may operate by sharing resources, such as carrier spectrum bandwidth, between its constituent elements. The communication system 100 may include a terrestrial communication system and / or a non-terrestrial communication system. The communication system 100 may provide a wide range of communication services and applications (such as earth monitoring, remote sensing, passive sensing and positioning, navigation and tracking, autonomous delivery and mobility, etc. ) . The communication system 100 may provide a high degree of availability and robustness through a joint operation of a terrestrial communication system and a non-terrestrial communication system. For example, integrating a non-terrestrial communication system (or components thereof) into a terrestrial communication system can result in what may be considered a heterogeneous network comprising multiple layers. Compared to conventional communication networks, the heterogeneous network may achieve better overall performance through efficient multi-link joint operation, more flexible functionality sharing, and faster physical layer link switching between terrestrial networks and non-terrestrial networks.

[0202] The terrestrial communication system and the non-terrestrial communication system could be considered sub-systems of the communication system. In the example shown in FIG. 2, the communication system 100 includes  electronic devices (ED) 110a, 110b, 110c, 110d (generically referred to as ED 110) , radio access networks (RANs) 120a, 120b, a non-terrestrial communication network 120c, a core network 130, a public switched telephone network (PSTN) 140, the Internet 150, and other networks 160. The RANs 120a, 120b include respective base stations (BSs) 170a, 170b, which may be generically referred to as terrestrial transmit and receive points (T-TRPs) 170a, 170b. The non-terrestrial communication network 120c includes an access node 172, which may be generically referred to as a non-terrestrial transmit and receive point (NT-TRP) 172. As may be surmised on the basis of similarity in reference numerals, the non-terrestrial communication network 120c may be considered to be a radio access network, with operational aspects in common with the RANs 120a, 120b. The non-terrestrial communication network 120c may include at least one non-terrestrial network (NTN) device and at least one corresponding terrestrial network device, wherein the at least one non-terrestrial network device works as a transport layer device and the at least one corresponding terrestrial network device works as a radio access network node, which communicates with the ED via the non-terrestrial network device.

[0220] Although not illustrated, the processor 260 may form part of the transmitter 252 and / or part of the receiver 254. Also, although not illustrated, the processor 260 may implement the scheduler 253. Although not illustrated, the memory 258 may form part of the processor 260.

[0221] The processor 260, the scheduler 253, the processing components of the transmitter 252, and the processing components of the receiver 254 may each be implemented by the same or different one or more processors that are configured to execute instructions stored in a memory, e.g. in the memory 258. Alternatively, some or all of the processor 260, the scheduler 253, the processing components of the transmitter 252, and the processing components of the receiver 254 may be implemented using dedicated circuitry, such as a programmed FPGA, a hardware accelerator (e.g., a GPU or AI accelerator) , or an ASIC.

[0222] Although the NT-TRP 172 is illustrated as a drone only as an example, the NT-TRP 172 may be  implemented in any suitable non-terrestrial form, such as satellites and high altitude platforms, including international mobile telecommunication base stations and unmanned aerial vehicles, for example. Also, the NT-TRP 172 may be known by other names in some implementations, such as a non-terrestrial node, a non-terrestrial network device, or a non-terrestrial base station. The NT-TRP 172 includes a transmitter 272 and a receiver 274 coupled to one or more antennas 280. Only one antenna 280 is illustrated to avoid congestion in the drawing. One, some, or all of the antennas may alternatively be panels. The transmitter 272 and the receiver 274 may be integrated as a transceiver. The NT-TRP 172 further includes a processor 276 for performing operations including those related to: preparing a transmission for downlink transmission to the ED 110, processing an uplink transmission received from the ED 110, preparing a transmission for backhaul transmission to T-TRP 170, and processing a transmission received over backhaul from the T-TRP 170. Processing operations related to preparing a transmission for downlink or backhaul transmission may include operations such as encoding, modulating, precoding (e.g. MIMO precoding) , transmit beamforming, and generating symbols for transmission. Processing operations related to processing received transmissions in the uplink or over backhaul may include operations such as receive beamforming, demodulating received symbols, and decoding received symbols. In some embodiments, the processor 276 implements the transmit beamforming and / or receive beamforming based on beam direction information (e.g. BAI) received from the T-TRP 170. In some embodiments, the processor 276 may generate signaling, e.g. to configure one or more parameters of the ED 110. In some embodiments, the NT-TRP 172 implements physical layer processing, but does not implement higher layer functions such as functions at the medium access control (MAC) or radio link control (RLC) layer. As this is only an example, more generally, the NT-TRP 172 may implement higher layer functions in addition to physical layer processing.

[0223] The NT-TRP 172 further includes a memory 278 for storing information and data. Although not illustrated, the processor 276 may form part of the transmitter 272 and / or part of the receiver 274. Although not illustrated, the memory 278 may form part of the processor 276.

[0224] The processor 276, the processing components of the transmitter 272, and the processing components of the receiver 274 may each be implemented by the same or different one or more processors that are configured to execute instructions stored in a memory, e.g. in the memory 278. Alternatively, some or all of the processor 276, the processing components of the transmitter 272, and the processing components of the receiver 274 may be implemented using dedicated circuitry, such as a programmed FPGA, a hardware accelerator (e.g., a GPU or AI accelerator) , or an ASIC. In some embodiments, the NT-TRP 172 may actually be a plurality of NT-TRPs that are  operating together to serve the ED 110, e.g. through coordinated multipoint transmissions.

[0225] The T-TRP 170, the NT-TRP 172, and / or the ED 110 may include other components, but these have been omitted for the sake of clarity.

[0226] One or more steps of the embodiment methods provided herein may be performed by corresponding units or modules, according to FIG. 4. FIG. 4 is a block diagram of a device in a communication system according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure. FIG. 4 illustrates units or modules in a device or apparatus, such as in the ED 110, in the T-TRP 170, or in the NT-TRP 172. For example, a signal may be transmitted by a transmitting unit or by a transmitting module. A signal may be received by a receiving unit or by a receiving module. A signal may be processed by a processing unit or a processing module. Other steps may be performed by an artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) module. The respective units or modules may be implemented using hardware, one or more components or devices that execute software, or a combination thereof. For instance, one or more of the units or modules may be a circuit such as an integrated circuit. Examples of an integrated circuit includes a programmed FPGA, a GPU, or an ASIC. For instance, one or more of the units or modules may be logical such as a logical function performed by a circuit, by a portion of an integrated circuit, or by software instructions executed by a processor. It will be appreciated that where the modules are implemented using software for execution by a processor for example, the modules may be retrieved by a processor, in whole or part as needed, individually or together for processing, in single or multiple instances, and that the modules themselves may include instructions for further deployment and instantiation.

[0227] Additional details regarding the EDs 110, the T-TRP 170, and the NT-TRP 172 are known to those of skill in the art. As such, these details are omitted here.

[0228] In the past decades, industrial priority has been paid on bit communications by optimizing how to transmit more bits at lowest radio cost as a primary aspect of communication, i.e. transmission efficiency. In this aspect, channel coding and source coding theories have been well studied to guide how to design FEC (forward error correction) coding scheme, modulation scheme, and compression scheme, either lossy or lossless in the engineering domains. However, the priority on this aspect is overshadowing another aspect of communications, i.e. transmission effectiveness (sender triggers a desired conduct on the receiver) .

[0229] In order for a receiver to conduct as a sender expects, receivers and senders should pre-negotiate some protocols between to map desired actions (observation or actuation) to bits. In modern wireless industry, these pre-negotiated protocols become a great portion of wireless standards that every equipment device follows. For example,  in a wireless system, a new desired action mapped into several bits of a controlling message (or information in the message) cannot be used until the standardization is made and hardware equipment device compatible with the standardization is deployed.

[0230] The controlling messaging system (which is a system using pre-negotiated protocols for the controlling messages) in current communication system e.g., 4th generation (4G) and 5th generation (5G) system is a closed-vocabulary system available and accessible only to the transmission-related controlling messages, downlink control information (DCI) and uplink control information (UCI) . A great portion of 5G wireless standard is dedicated to contents and formats of DCI and UCI. A pre-negotiated function (actions and arguments) at a receiver side is carefully mapped to some bits of a controlling message with some format. When a new transmission technology appeared (e.g., from 4G to 5G) , some new and relevant controlling messages should be added into DCI and UCI or are defined as new DCI and UCI formats after years of standardization meetings and implementations. Similarly, when an old transmission technology got retired, the old controlling messages should be removed from DCI and UCI after years of meetings and implementations too. In the future that as the accelerating evolution of transmission technology requests faster updates in DCI and UCI, the current closed-vocabulary controlling messaging system would become an obstacle to any agile replacement.

[0231] Since 5G, Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC) has been discussed as one of the important application features for wireless systems. The recent AI technology has been speeding up driverless car and robotics and demanding more low-latency and high reliable communications. Unfortunately, these applications cannot enjoy the most reliable and fastest radio channels, because the controlling messages in these applications is not open to the radio technology (e.g., 5G) and can only be taken as data and will be transmitted only in data channel..

[0232] Every desired action is specifically defined and mapped on several bits of a controlling message. The definition and mapping should be well pre-negotiated and written into wireless standards and then be implemented on all the equipment users (UEs) and network node, e.g., base stations. A desired action includes a specific observation or actuation function modality. For example, a controlling message to request a receiver to conduct an action to measure the current “receiving signal power (e.g. reference signal received power (RSRP) ) ” is a specific “observation” function modality (that doesn’ t change the state of the receiver) ; another controlling message to request a receiver to conduct an action to configure its “carrier frequency” is a specific “actuation” function modality (that alters the state of the receiver) . It could be understood that, a communication protocol associates one controlling message to a function modality and another controlling message to another function modality. Controlling messages  are cross modality.

[0233] A modern wireless cellular system like 5G contains a central device, e.g. (BTS, gNodeB, eNodeB) , and at least one user device, e.g., (UE, user, terminal, IoT device and so on) . In 5G, the central device is responsible for managing and maintaining the overall communication quality of all user devices associated to the central device, referring to FIG. 5 and FIG. 6. FIG. 5 is a schematic diagram of a communication system. FIG. 6 is a schematic diagram showing communications between a central device and a first user device.

[0234] The central device performs the management and maintaining jobs mostly through a controlling plane of the wireless system. The controlling plane includes a physical layer controlling channel (e.g., PDCCH for downlink and PUCCH for uplink) and a part of physical layer data channel (e.g., PDSCH for downlink and PUCCH for uplink) , and a number of carefully standardized controlling messages. Usually, most controlling messages are robustly encoded (with lower coding rate and modulation scheme) without HARQ (for shorter latency purpose) and transmitted on the physical controlling channels. The content, format, and position &length of a standardized controlling message are well defined and specified so that all the equipment may exactly conform to. Usually, a standardized controlling message is short enough to form a small block to fit into DCI. Optionally, a standardized controlling message, if long enough, can be alternatively transmitted via physical data channels too.

[0235] Some bits of a standardized controlling message indicate a desired function modality, which is either observation (measurement) action and / or actuation (configuration or setup) action. Which bits are associated to which function modality is well specified (akind of offline pre-negotiation) in the standard documents, to which both the central device and user device are aligned.

[0236] Some bits of a standardized controlling message indicate argument values for a function modality. Which bits and how many bits are associated to which arguments of a function modality is well specified (akind of offline pre-negotiation) in the standard, to which both the central device and user device are aligned.

[0237] Adding a new function modality means updating some bits of a standardized controlling message, which takes years to be agreed in the standardization body and implemented by all the new equipment. For example, as the number of bits allocated for an argument value is fixed, the quantization of the value cannot be updated until the change to the number of bits is agreed by the standardization body and implemented by all the new equipment.

[0238] The central device generates a standardized controlling message by filling the bits exactly according to the pre-negotiated standard. Then the central device encodes the controlling message by some pre-negotiated coding and modulation scheme (MCS) and transmits it on a transmission opportunity within a physical radio allocation  (controlling channel or data channel) to the user device.

[0239] The user device receives the controlling message from the transmission opportunity, decodes them according to the pre-negotiated MCS. The user device may conduct the function modality with the argument values in terms of the decoded bits from the controlling message.

[0240] Natural language is one of few carriers that not only support open-vocabulary and backward &forward compatibility but also accommodate cross-modality functionality. So far, all theory, rule, law, devices, knowledge, gadget, and even wireless standards are developed and stored in natural languages. Nevertheless, direct embedding a sentence in a natural language, for example by American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASIC) letter-by-letter, is sensitive to order of words and formats of a sentence. For example, “Set the carrier frequency to 3.5GHz” would be considered as different from “the carrier frequency should be set as 3.5GHz” , even though both have the similar semantic meaning. Or “what is current received signal power? ” and “Received signal power is high” makes a pair of a query and an answer close to the same semantic. During the past decades, no machine had been able to understand flexible and open sentence in natural languages or there had been no heuristic way to map and compare sentences in natural language in a common semantic domain.

[0241] Large-language-model (LLM) enables machine to “understand” sentences in natural languages. Although the primary goal of a LLM is to make extraction or predication (generation) in sentences, every LLM may contain some components that embeds a sentence in natural language into a semantic domain. Usually, these embedding components are realized by transformer-based deep neural network and trained with contrastive learning with a great amount of training samples. This paves a way for a machine to “understand” and “compare” different sentences in semantic domain.

[0242] There are at least one of several following issues in modern wireless system. Firstly, contents and formats of the controlling messages in wireless communication standards are pre-negotiated (standardized) to form a closed vocabulary in a transmission-only semantic context. The controlling messages are responsible for managing and maintaining an entire wireless communication system, given the most reliable and fastest physical channels. But this resource or capability is not open to other applications, especially ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) applications including driverless car or robotics, for example, a controlling message such as “emergency brake” for a driverless car can only be transmitted as data via physical data channel. Secondly, pre-negotiated (standardized) controlling messages in the wireless communication standards suffer from forward and backward compatibility. While some controlling messages that become “outdated” would still “occupy” some resource room in the physical  channels, some new controlling messages (for new technology) couldn’ t be added until a new standard is released (e.g. years later) . It has undermined the wireless system to benefit from cutting-edge transmission technology.

[0243] The current wireless system heavily relies on pre-negotiated (standardized) contents and formats of the controlling messages, mainly because a machine was unable to understand semantic meaning. For long, effectiveness communication had been considered as a propaganda theory, as human is only receiver who can catch semantic meaning of a sentence and conduct a desired action.

[0244] In brief, the current DCI design scheme is not efficient to carry useful information.

[0245] In the disclosure of the present invention, a method, apparatus and system for an open vocabulary controlling message in controlling message system in a natural language are provided. The method includes channel coding schemes and downlink control information (DCI) , and their joint design to facilitate a flexible and effective control signaling. In the disclosure, the DCI comprises a first-stage DCI and a second-stage DCI. And the first-stage DCI is further divided into two parts, where the second part jointly works with the second-stage DCI to maintain a DCI dictionary, such that semantic communication is achieved. In details, the method is a bottom-up approach, i.e., to support open-vocabulary messaging through a detailed joint DCI and channel coding design. On top of a 2-stage DCI design and an online constructed and maintained DCI dictionary, the system is able to describe arbitrary and very complicated DCI instructions using only a few bits. Moreover, nested-code-rate channel coding schemes like polar codes is employed to carry non-deterministic payload lengths (code rates) with blind detection.

[0246] The DCI design and channel coding schemes in this disclosure further simplifies the indication of complicated controlling message sequences with a flexible semantic-based dynamic dictionary system. It works in both AI-assisted and non-AI systems, and allow the base station to enjoy maximum freedom to construct its own DCI dictionary with each wireless user. Such a customized design allows the wireless system to be fine tuned to each individual scenario.

[0247] Unlike a standardized DCI (i.e., in 4G and 5G) , some controlling messages in a natural language that support conditionality and looping are introduced. In terms of computer programming theory, a program can be coded only with four types of instructions: read state, change state, condition, and looping. Strictly, looping instruction is not necessary but looping instruction can really help improve efficiency of a program.

[0248] A first possible advantage is efficiency. An open-vocabulary controlling message is associated to a function modality supported by a user device. This function modality is either observation (reading current state of the user device) , or actuation (changing current state of the user device) or both. For example, to achieve a condition,  a central device may fire (send) at least two controlling messages: the first message for the observation (called as the observation message in this disclosure) and the second message for the actuation (called as the actuation message in this disclosure) . In response to the observation message received from the central device, the user device may feedback at least once to report the current state. Now, with an open-vocabulary controlling message that supports condition, the two controlling messages can be combined in a conditional way to the user device. Just one fire from the central device is sufficient. For another example, to achieve a loop with open-vocabulary controlling messages, the central device has to keep sending a number of actuation controlling messages and one observation message and then again and again. But with an open-vocabulary controlling message that supports looping, the central device sends only one controlling message that indicates the loop.

[0249] A second possible advantage is to program a user device by a sequence of controlling messages in a natural language. In one implementations, DCI in 5G and closed-vocabulary controlling messages in are independent to each other, and there’s no order among them. For example, DCIs transmitted in different time slots may be independent in 5G. Program is order-sensitive or order of program instructions matters (brings about critical information) . When a controlling message supports condition and loop freely, the orders among a sequence of the controlling messages start to matter. The Programmable or configurable feature brings flexibility to the system design.

[0250] A third possible advantage is to enable the controlling message system to support conditional and looping controlling message in a natural language. It makes a controlling message be more efficient and concise. Moreover, with the support of the conditional and looping controlling message, the central device can program a user device by a sequence of controlling messages in a natural language. It is the true merit of a LLM model who can generate a chain of thoughts (= a sequence of sentences in a natural language) .

[0251] In order to benefit more from the generative capability of a LLM model (which may become more and more powerful) , the wireless system can allocate a particular resource in its physical layer for non-wireless controlling messages for customers, such as driverless car and robotics, who request a short-latency and reliable communication. Besides, in order to protect customer’s privacy and commercial intellectual property, these function modalities at a user device and controlling messages to these function modalities are black box for the central device.

[0252] Embedding Model of LLM

[0253] The central device schedules and manages user devices mostly through a controlling plane of the wireless system. The controlling plane includes a number of physical layer channels and a number of controlling messages. Unlike 5G, the disclosure of this invention comprises some open-vocabulary controlling messages in a natural  language for backward and forward compatibility in wireless communication.

[0254] These controlling messages are called as open-vocabulary controlling messages in a natural language. The major reasons to employ a natural language rather than an artificial language (like 5G standardization) are as at least one of following:

[0255] - Natural language is the best de-facto semantic “standard” for nearly everything. Wireless systems (e.g., 4G, 5G) have been discussed, developed, written, and standardized in a natural language (English) .

[0256] - Inference over a powerful LLM model can generate a chain or sequence of open-vocabulary controlling messages in natural language. If a modern wireless system took advantage of an ever-growing LLM model, it may be open for controlling messages in a natural language.

[0257] - It is widely accepted to keep “man-in-the-loop” for LLM models in both training and inference periods. During a training period, “man-in-the-loop” can help regularize LLM model’s behavior for safe and moral codes; during an inference period, “man-in-the-loop” can help retrace and accumulate real samples for human inspection. Both of the periods request a system to support controlling messages in a natural language.

[0258] In this disclosure, the central device is supposed to use a LLM to generate a chain of controlling messages in a natural language. How to build a LLM is open for individual implementation. A company, an operator, can gain its efficiency advantage by its LLM model. The company can keep improving its LLM models by “man-in-the-loop” reinforcement learning to update the LLM’s generative models.

[0259] A typical LLM model may comprise several components: an encoder that translates, embeds, or tokenizes a sentence in a natural language into a semantic embedding, a generator or predictor that generates a sequence of semantic embeddings, and a decoder that translates generative semantic embeddings back to sentences or messages in a natural language. In some LLM models, a generator and a decoder are closely coupled together.

[0260] There is some randomness in a LLM model. For example, two semantic embeddings from the same input sentence in a natural language are not exactly same. But the two semantic embeddings are very relevant in the sense that their inner product is high.

[0261] There are many names for semantic embedding such as semantic vector, semantic token, token, and so on.In some LLM models, semantic embedding is in tensor; in other LLM models, semantic embedding is in matrix. Often, longer sentence in natural language would result into longer semantic embedding. In order to fit a semantic embedding into a wireless physical layer, an embedder is proposed:

[0262] - Regularize a semantic embedding into a vector (semantic vector) ; for example, simply by vectorizing a tensor or matrix;

[0263] - Pre-define a finite number of fixed lengths and then regularize the semantic vector into one of the fixed lengths. In general, longer sentence is regularized into a longer semantic vector;

[0264] - Call the semantic vector of one of the pre-defined lengths as “semantic vector” in the following discussion;

[0265] - Call the encoder component of a LLM and the regularizations above as “embedder” .

[0266] An embedding model is a component of a LLM model, referring to FIG. 7, which is a schematic diagram of a LLM model. FIG. 7 shows an example where a LLM Model contains an embedder that translates a sentence in natural language into a semantic vector. In fact, it is the smallest, simplest, least energy-consuming one in a LLM model than generator and decoder that usually take billions of neurons.

[0267] In FIG. 7, a typical LLM model is illustrated. A sentence in a natural language is input into a LLM model. This sentence is firstly embedded into a semantic embedding by a deep neural network (for example, a transform-based deep neural network-1 in the figure) . Then, the semantic embedding is input into a generator or predictor that will generate a chain of semantic embeddings following this input semantic embedding. The chain of semantic embeddings is translated to a chain of sentences in a natural language by a decoder. Optionally the generator and decoder may be combined together by a deep neural network (for example, another transform-based deep neural network-2 in the figure) .

[0268] Registering Embedder (s) into System

[0269] FIG. 8 is a schematic diagram of a central device according one or more embodiments of the present disclosure. FIG. 8 shows a central device may implement more than one embedder; each embedder is identified by an embedder identifier (ID) . As illustrated in scenario 1 of the following FIG. 8, a first LLM model may register its first embedder into the system, in which a central device and at least a first user device will register the first embedder. When the first embedder is introduced or updated, the central device configures the first embedder, including the architecture and the parameters (neuron values) , to all the user devices in a broadcast, multicast, or even unicast way.

[0270] When there is a second embedder and the second embedder is introduced or updated, the central device may transmit the second embedder to all the user devices. In some cases, the first LLM model may have the first embedder and the second embedder; in other cases, the first LLM model has the first embedder and a second LLM model has the second embedder. For example, the first embedder is English and the second embedder is Chinese, or,  the first embedder is a general one and the second embedder is limited to IoT (much smaller and faster) .

[0271] As LLMs are open for individual implementation, a central device may have more than one LLM model as illustrated in scenario 2 of FIG. 8. For example, the first LLM model is built by a company-Afor green-energy equipment management; the second LLM model is built by a company-B for smart-city traffic sensors. The details for each LLM model could refer to above description.

[0272] The central device may inform all the user devices of the embedder identifier, if there are more than one embedder, when configuring an embedder, see FIG. 9. FIG. 9 shows that when the first embedder is added or updated, the central device informs the first embedder to all user devices.

[0273] Registering Function Modality into System

[0274] A function modality is an action conducted by a user device. An action includes observation and / or actuation. When a user device executes an observation action, the user device would measure some of its states or status. When a user device executes an actuation action, the user device would change some of its states or status. A function modality can be either observation action, or actuation observation, or both simultaneously. FIG. 10 shows that a user device in real-world comprises a number of states and a number of observation functions and actuation functions; a function modality comprises at least an observation function to read at least one state or at least an actuation function to change at least one state. In FIG. 10, an example of two states, state #1 and state #2 is given. To access the states (state #1 and state #2) , a function is needed. Suppose that a function can access to only one state. This function can be either to change the state (actuation function, for example, an actuation function can be: “SetState#1 (value) ” ) or to read the state (observation function, for example, an observation function can be: “Result = ReadState#1 (void) ” , “IsState#1HigherThan (value) ” , or “IsState#1InRangeBetween (value1, value2) ” ) , or read and change the state (actuation &observation function) simultaneously.

[0275] At least a first function modality is enabled, equipped, or implemented on at least a first user device. In order for the central device to make use of the first function modality enabled on the first user device, the system registers the first function modality into the system if the first function modality is new or updated to the system.

[0276] On the first user device, the first function modality may be encapsulated into at least a first API (application programming interface) calling function, see FIG. 11. FIG. 11 shows an example of a function modality comprising API, list of arguments, and description in a natural language The first API calling function may be in various programming languages such as C, Java, Python, C++, assemble etc. The first API calling function may have a first list of arguments. The first API calling function may have a first description that describes the first function  modality in a natural language. Please note that a function modality may be achieved by a sequence of API functions, though one function modality by one API function is preferred. A function modality shown in FIG. 11 comprises API, list of arguments, and description in a natural language.

[0277] Optionally, as illustrated in FIG. 12, the first user device may use the first embedder to translate the first description into a first semantic vector (or a batch of first semantic vectors with different lengths) and then store it. FIG. 12 shows that the first user device translates the first description in natural language into first semantic vector. Or the first user device may use the second embedder to translate the first description into a second semantic vector (or a batch of second semantic vectors with different lengths) and then store it. Or the first user device may use the first embedder to translate the first description into a first semantic vector each time that it needs instead of storing it.Due to some randomness in the first embedder, the first semantic vectors generated by the first embedder may not be exactly the same but very close on the semantic domain.

[0278] As illustrated in FIG. 13, the first user device may inform the central device of the first function modality by transmitting the first description and the first list of arguments to the central device. The first user device transmits the first description of the first function modality to the central device in order that the central device registers the first function modality into the system.

[0279] After receiving the first description and the first list of arguments, the central device may register the first function modality into the first LLM model by providing the first description and the first list of arguments. Optionally, the central device may register the first function modality into the second LLM model by providing the first description and the first list of arguments, if there is the second LLM model.

[0280] Optionally, as shown in FIG. 14, the central device may use the first embedder to translate the first description into a third semantic vector (or a third batch of semantic vectors with different lengths) , and then store it. FIG. 14 shows that after the central device receives the first description and the first list of arguments of the first function modality from the first user device, register the first function modality to the first LLM model and associate the first function modality to the first user device. Preferably, the central device may associate the first user device identifier to the first function modality. Or the central device may use the second embedder to translate the first description into a fourth semantic vector (or a fourth batch of semantic vectors with different lengths) and then store it, if there is the second embedder. Or the central device may use the first embedder to translate the first description into a third semantic vector each time that it needs instead of storing it. Due to some randomness in the first embedder, the third semantic vectors generated by the first embedder may not be exactly the same but very close on the semantic  domain.

[0281] As illustrated in FIG. 15, if a second user device has the same first function modality, the second user device may provide the first description and the first list of arguments to the central device. FIG. 15 shows that if the first function modality has been registered, the central device may record the second user device that supports the first function modality. The central device may add the second user device identifier with the first function modality. That is to say, if the first function modality has been registered, the central device may record the second user device that supports the first function modality.

[0282] If a second user device has a second function modality (new or updated) , the second user device may provide a second description and a second list of arguments to the central device. The central device may record the second user device identifier with the second function modality. In turn, the central device may inform the first LLM model provider of the second function modality by providing the second description and a second list of arguments to the first LLM model provider. Optionally, the central device may inform the second LLM model provider of the second function modality by providing the second description and a second list of arguments to the second LLM model provider, if there are more than one LLM model provider.

[0283] Although the first user device and central device use the same first embedder to translate the same first description, the first semantic vector and the third semantic vector may not be exactly the same due to some randomness of the first embedder. However, the first semantic vector and the third semantic vector have a strong semantic relevance.

[0284] Translating Open-Vocabulary Controlling Message (s)

[0285] As illustrated in FIG. 16, the central device uses the first LLM model to generate at least a first open-vocabulary controlling message. FIG. 16 shows that the central device generates an open-voc message, divide it, and translate it into semantic vector. The first controlling message in natural language may include a list of arguments (values) and is targeted at the first function modality on the first user device.

[0286] The central device divides the first open-vocabulary (Open-Voc) controlling message into two portions: the first portion comprising the list of arguments if any and the second portion comprising the rest part of the first open-vocabulary controlling message.

[0287] The central device may choose a first length and use the first embedder to translate the second portion of the first open-vocabulary controlling message into a fifth semantic vector.

[0288] The central device may use the first embedder to translate description of the first function modality into  a third semantic vector.

[0289] Although the fifth semantic vector and the third semantic vector may not be exactly the same due to some randomness of the first embedding model, the fifth semantic vector and the third semantic vector indicate a strong semantical relevance.

[0290] Optionally, as shown in FIG. 17, the central device may compare the relevance between the fifth semantic vector and the third semantic vector to a first threshold. FIG. 17 shows that the central device may choose to validate an open-voc controlling message with all its registered function modalities. If the relevance between the fifth semantic vector and the semantic vector of each registered function modality is lower than the first threshold, the central device may judge that the first controlling message is non-registered one; otherwise, the central device may judge that the first controlling message is registered one. The central device may dismiss a non-registered one.

[0291] One of the advantages is that the central device may multicast or unicast to the user devices whom are registered with the relevant function modality, thereby saving the user device’s power.

[0292] Encoding and transmitting Open-Vocabulary Controlling Message (s)

[0293] As shown in FIG. 18, the central device may encode and transmit the list of arguments of the first open-vocabulary controlling message during a first transmission opportunity, and encode and transmit the fifth semantic vector during a second transmission opportunity. FIG. 18 shows that the central device encodes and transmits an open-voc controlling message in two transmission opportunity.

[0294] The central device allocates a trunk of radio resource for controlling messages. The first part of the radio resource is reversed for standardized controlling messages. The second part of the radio resource is allocated for open-vocabulary controlling messages that at least includes the first open-vocabulary controlling messages.

[0295] The central device may form a first information payload that comprises the list of arguments of the first open-vocabulary controlling message, a starting position of the second transmission opportunity, the first length of the fifth semantic vector, a first MCS that encodes the fifth semantic vector, optionally the first user device identifier. The central device uses a second MCS to encode the first information payload. The central device grants the first transmission opportunity in the second part of the radio resource to transmit the first information payload.

[0296] The central device may form the second information payload that comprises the fifth semantic vector. The central device uses the first MCS to encode the second information payload. The central device grants the second transmission opportunity with the starting position and the first length in the second part of the radio resource to transmit the second information payload.

[0297] Understanding Open-Vocabulary Controlling Messages

[0298] As illustrated in FIG. 19 the first user device receives the first transmission opportunity (i.e., receives some information on the first transmission opportunity) . FIG. 19 shows that the first user device decodes the fifth semantic vector and the correspondent list of arguments. The first user device uses the second MCS to decode the first information payload. Optionally if the user device identifier is transmitted in the first information payload, the first user device may stop decoding the second information payload, if the first user device finds that the decoded user device identifier doesn’ t match.

[0299] As illustrated in FIG. 20, the first user device decodes the list of the arguments of the first open-vocabulary controlling message, the starting position of the second transmission opportunity, the first length of the fifth semantic vector, the first MCS. With them, the first user device receives the second transmission opportunity and decodes the fifth semantic vector by the first MCS. FIG. 20 shows that after relevance check with the fifth semantic and all candidate function modality, the first user device selects the right function API with the list of right arguments.

[0300] The first user device computes the relevance between the fifth semantic and all its candidate semantic that includes at least the first semantic vector. The first user device may select the first semantic as the most relevant to the fifth semantic. Then, the first user device may call the first API calling function with the arguments that the first user device decodes in the first transmission opportunity. Finally, the first user device executes the first function modality with the right arguments.

[0301] From the top level, the central device transmits the first controlling message in a natural language to the first user device who executes the first function modality.

[0302] Registering a conditional function modality

[0303] As illustrated in FIG. 21, the first user device may have a third function modality. FIG. 21 shows that the first user device has the third function modality that supports a conditional observation. The first function modality is associated to an actuation action, that is, to set the state #1 of the first user device as “value #1” . The third function modality is associated to an observation action, that is, to read the state #2 of the first user device.

[0304] Usually, a conditional controlling message is expressed in a natural language: “If readState#2 is in a low range, then SetState#1 (value #1) . ” , In general, an actuation action is in a condition of the result of an observation action. In order to support a condition, a condition description is added to an observation function modality besides API name, list of arguments, and description. In the example of: “If readState#2 is in a low range, then  SetState#1 (value #1) . ” , a first condition description would be “If the checked state#2 is in a low range” in a natural language and its correspondent API would be “readState#2 () <= low-range-upbound” . Also, a second condition description could be “If the checked state#2 is in a high range” in a natural language and its correspondent API would be “readState#2 () >= high-range-low-bound” .

[0305] When the first user device registers an observation function modality (for example the third function modality) , the first user needs to send the third description of the third function modality to the central device, but also the first (and second) condition description to the central device. As illustrated in FIG. 22, the first user device may translate the descriptions in natural language. Specifically, the first user device may use the first embedder to translate the third description into a sixth semantic vector (or a batch of sixth semantic vectors with different lengths) and then store it. The first user device may use the first embedder to translate the first condition description of the third function modality into a seventh semantic vector (or a batch of seventh semantic vectors with different lengths) and then store it. The first user device may use the first embedder to translate the second condition description of the third function modality into an eighth semantic vector (or a batch of seventh semantic vectors with different lengths) and then store it.

[0306] As illustrated in FIG. 23, the first user device sends the third list of arguments, third description (in natural language) , first conditional description (in a natural language) , and second conditional description (in a natural language) to the central device. FIG. 23 shows that the first user device sends the information about the third function modality to the central device.

[0307] As illustrated in FIG. 24, after receiving the 3rd description and the 3rd list of arguments, the central device may register the 3rd function modality into the first LLM model by providing the 3rd description, the first conditional description, the second conditional description, and the 3rd list of arguments. FIG. 24 shows that after the central device receives the 3rd description, the first conditional description, the second conditional description, and the 3rd list of arguments of the 3rd function modality from the first user device, register the 3rd function modality to the first LLM model and associate the 3rd function modality to the first user device. Optionally, the central device may register the 3rd function modality into the second LLM model by providing the 3rd description, the first conditional description, the second conditional description, and the 3rd list of arguments, if there is the second LLM model.

[0308] Optionally, the central device may use the first embedder to translate the 3rd description into a 9-th semantic vector (or a 9-th batch of semantic vectors with different lengths) , and then store it. The central device may  use the first embedder to translate the 1st conditional description into a 10-th semantic vector (or a 10-th batch of semantic vectors with different lengths) , and then store it. The central device may use the first embedder to translate the 2nd conditional description into a 11-th semantic vector (or a 9-th batch of semantic vectors with different lengths) , and then store it.

[0309] Translating conditional Open-Vocabulary Controlling Message (s)

[0310] The central device uses the first LLM model to generate at least a first conditional open-vocabulary controlling message. The first conditional controlling message in natural language may include a list of arguments (values) and is targeted at the first function modality (an actuation action) on the first user device on the condition on the result of third function modality on the first device. For example, the first conditional open-vocabulary controlling message is “if the checked out state#2 is in a low range, then configure the state #1 as value 1. ” . Often, a “if …then” can be used as prompt for language generator to generate a conditional controlling message.

[0311] Just as the first open-vocabulary controlling message in FIG. 16, the central device may divide the first conditional open-vocabulary controlling message into two parts and translate the second part into the fifth semantic vector.

[0312] Encoding and transmitting Conditional Open-Vocabulary Controlling Message (s)

[0313] The central device may encode and transmit the first conditional open-vocabulary controlling message very similar as the first open-vocabulary controlling message to the first user as FIG. 17.

[0314] Understanding Open-Vocabulary Controlling Messages

[0315] The first user device receives and processes the received the first conditional open-vocabulary controlling message very similar as the first open-vocabulary controlling message in FIG. 18.

[0316] Unlike processing the first open-vocabulary controlling messages as in FIG. 19, the first user may compute the relevance between the fifth semantic and all its candidate semantic that includes at least the first semantic vector, and the 6-th semantic vector, and the 7-th semantic vector. The first user device may select the first semantic and 7-th semantic vector as the most relevant to the fifth semantic. Then, the first user device may call the first API calling function with the arguments that the first user device decodes in the first transmission opportunity in the condition of the result of the first conditional API of the 3rd function modality, as illustrated in FIG 25. FIG. 25 shows that the first user understands the first conditional open-vocabulary controlling message.

[0317] Registering a looping function modality

[0318] Like a conditional functional modality, an observation function modality can become a condition for a  loop for a number of actuation function modalities.

[0319] Exactly as supporting a conditional description on an observation function modality, the first user device can add a looping description in a natural language. For example, “while checked state #2 is in a low range” and “while checked state #2 is in a high range” .

[0320] From FIG 21 to FIG 25, all the conditional descriptions can be replaced by loop descriptions. The first LLM model of the central device may generate the first looping open vocabulary controlling message by a prompt such as “while …, do …” .

[0321] Programming a user device by a sequence of open-vocabulary controlling messages

[0322] After the first user device and the central device support the first open-vocabulary controlling message, the first conditional open-vocabulary controlling message, and the first looping open-vocabulary controlling message, the central device may use the first LLM model to generate a sequence or chain of open-vocabulary controlling messages to program the first user device.

[0323] As the orders of instructions matter in a program, the order of the sequence of open-vocabulary controlling messages matter too. For example, the central device may generate a sequence as:

[0324] Message 1: If checked state 2 is in a low range, then configure the state #1 as value #1;

[0325] Message 2: while checked state 1 is in a high range, set the state 3 as value #2;

[0326] Message 1 shall be executed before Message 2. It means that the first user device cannot execute the Message 2 until the Message 1 is done. Or if the first user device is unable to decode, understand, or execute the Message 1, it doesn’ t need to decode the Message #2.

[0327] Registering a customer’s function modality

[0328] A customer’s function modality is not standardized. It is more likely that the customer’s function modality is black box as well. Therefore, unlike a wireless-related function modality as in FIG 11, its API function is not available to the (wireless) system. Moreover, the description of the function is not available either.

[0329] In this disclosure, the first user device supports a “black-box” customer’s function modality called as 4-th function modality. Unlike the first, second, and third modality functions, the first user device doesn’ t transmit the description (4-th description) of the 4-th function modality to the central device. The first user device uses the first embedder to translate the 4-th description into a 12-th semantic vector (or a 12-th batch of semantic vectors with different lengths) , and then store it.

[0330] As illustrated in FIG. 26, the first user device transmits the 4-th list of arguments of the 4-th function  modality and the 12-th semantic vector to the central device. FIG. 26 shows that the first user device sends the information of the 4-th function modality to the central device. (In comparison in FIG 13, the first user device transmits the first list of arguments and first description in a natural language to the central device. )

[0331] As illustrated in FIG. 27, after the central device receives the 4-th list of argument and the 12-th semantic vector, it would store the the 12-th semantic vector and record the 12-th semantic vector associated to the first user device identifier. FIG. 27 shows that the central device stores the 12-th semantic vector and associated it to the first user device ID. It is assumed that the customer has already register the 4-th function modality and the 4-th description into the first LLM model.

[0332] Translating Open-Vocabulary Controlling Message (s)

[0333] The central device uses the first LLM model to generate at least a first customer open-vocabulary controlling message. The first customer controlling message in natural language may include a list of arguments (values) and is targeted at the 4-th function modality on the first user device.

[0334] The central device may encode and transmit the first customer open-vocabulary controlling message very similar as the first open-vocabulary controlling message to the first user as FIG. 16 and FIG. 17. Although the checking in FIG. 17 is optional, the central device needs to check the relevance as FIG. 17 between the 5-th semantic vector and the stored 12-th semantic vector. If the relevance is true, the central device can know to which user device (the first user device for example) to transmit the 5-th semantic vector.

[0335] Understanding Open-Vocabulary Controlling Messages

[0336] The first user device receives and processes the received the first conditional open-vocabulary controlling message very similar as the first open-vocabulary controlling message in FIG. 18.

[0337] Unlike processing the first open-vocabulary controlling messages as in FIG. 19, the first user may compute the relevance between the fifth semantic and all its candidate semantic that includes at least the 12-th semantic vector. The first user device may select the 12-th semantic vector as the most relevant to the fifth semantic. Then, the first user device may call the 4-th API calling function with the arguments that the first user device decodes in the first transmission opportunity.

[0338] Moreover, the 4-th function modality can be unconditional one, conditional one, and loop one. The methods designed for conditional controlling message and looping controlling message can be applied to customer’s conditional controlling message and customer’s looping controlling message.

[0339] Similarly, the central device may use a sequence of customer’s controlling messages to program the first  user device.

[0340] Further, the disclosure of the present invention describes a specific message structure dedicated for the open-vocabulary messaging system mentioned above.

[0341] In a general framework, any control signaling message can be tokenized by a LLM. The simple form is a dictionary with a key representing the token and the value corresponding to the full content. More powerful tools such as AI can be used to implement the tokenizer.

[0342] FIG. 28 shows a schematic flowchart of a transmission method for controlling information according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure. The method can be implemented by a first apparatus. Optionally, the first apparatus can be a central device or other device that has similar function (for example, the first apparatus could be a chip) , which is not limited herein. As shown in FIG. 27, the method can include the following steps.

[0343] S2810, generate first control information, where the first control information includes at least one piece of indication information respectively corresponding to at least one piece of semantic information, and each of the at least one piece of semantic information indicates a corresponding action.

[0344] In the embodiment, the central device generates first control information, which includes at least one piece of indication information respectively corresponding to at least one piece of semantic information. Each of the at least one piece of semantic information indicates a corresponding action. The corresponding action may be an actuation action or an observation action. The semantic information also refers to the semantic vector, semantic embedding, semantic token, etc. in the present disclosure. The semantic information may be a numerical representation of the meaning or semantics of words, phrases, sentences, or documents.

[0345] In a possible implementation, the first control information may be downlink control information or sidelink control information. When the first control information is downlink control information, it also refers to 1st-stage DCI, stage-1 DCI, etc. in the present disclosure.

[0346] In a possible implementation, each of the at least one piece of semantic information may correspond to a controlling message in natural language respectively. The controlling message may be generated by the central device by using a language learning model (LLM) .

[0347] In a possible implementation, the at least one piece of indication information may be determined according to a mapping relationship between the at least one piece of indication information and the at least one piece of semantic information. By establishing a mapping relationship, the system can associate specific indication information with corresponding semantic information. The use of a mapping relationship may reduce computational overhead for determining the indication information. When the central device needs to transmit specific semantic information, the central device may look up the corresponding indication information from the mapping relationship.

[0348] S2820, send the first control information.

[0349] In the embodiment, after generating the first control information, the central device sends the first control information.

[0350] In a possible implementation, the central device may generate second control information, where the second control information includes one or more pieces of semantic information of the at least one piece of semantic information; and may send the second control information. Specifically, the central device may further generate second control information including one or more pieces of semantic information of the at least one piece of semantic information, where the at least one piece of semantic information respectively corresponds to the at least one piece of indication information included in the first control information. The central device can then send the second control information to the appropriate recipient. The central device may generate first control information and second control information to transmit the controlling message, which allows for more efficient use of radio resources and provides greater flexibility in terms of error correction and retransmission.

[0351] When the second control information is downlink control information, the second control information also refers to 2nd-stage DCI, stage-2 DCI, etc. in the present disclosure.

[0352] In a possible implementation, each of one or more pieces of indication information may indicate a corresponding piece of semantic information in the one or more pieces of semantic information included in the second control information, where the at least one piece of indication information includes the one or more pieces of indication information. The semantic information may be explicitly defined by the indication information, or implicitly or loosely defined in nature language sentences. If the semantic information is implicitly or loosely defined in nature language sentences, the controlling message in natural device may be interpreted to semantic information by using a tokenizer, and in this case, there is no need to establish a mapping relationship between indication information and the semantic information.

[0353] When the semantic information is explicitly defined by the indication information, it may not be necessary to include all the semantic information, which respectively corresponds to each piece of indication information included in the first control information, in the second control information. The central device may inform a user devices of one or more pieces of semantic information respectively corresponding to one or more pieces of indication information through the second control information, and then the user device can know the semantic information corresponding to each of the one or more piece of indication formation, or in other words, the user device can understand meaning or content of each of the one or more pieces of indication information indication included. Then, in subsequent communication, the central device can instruct the user device to perform an action by sending corresponding indication information, and there may be no need to transmit the corresponding semantic information again unless it is changed. In an example, the user device may pre-store the mapping relationship between first indication information and its corresponding semantic information, the user device can obtain corresponding semantic information based on the first indication information included in the first control information according to the pre-stored mapping relationship. In this way, the need for transmitting redundant or unnecessary information can be reduced. This helps to reduce signaling transmission overhead and optimizes the use of resources.

[0354] In a possible implementation, a mapping relationship between one or more pieces of indication information and one or more pieces of semantic information may be pre-configured for a user device via higher layer signaling; or pre-stored in the user device; or indicated via control information, where the at least one piece of indication information includes the one or more pieces of indication information and at least one piece of semantic information includes the one or more pieces of semantic information. The mapping relationship can be implemented as a lookup table or dictionary that maps indication information to semantic information. A lookup table or dictionary is a data structure that stores a set of key-value pairs, where each key corresponds to a unique value.

[0355] By pre-configuring or pre-storing the mapping relationship, or informing the user device of the mapping relationship directly, the user device can quickly and accurately associate the indication information with its corresponding semantic information. This eliminates the need for repeated interpretation or analysis of the control information, saving time and processing resources. Furthermore, with a pre-configured mapping relationship, the user device can independently understand and execute the actions indicated by the control information, leading to improved responsiveness and efficiency. This approach also enhances flexibility and adaptability. If there are changes or updates to the semantic information or the mapping relationship, they can be easily accommodated by  updating the configuration or stored information in the user device. This allows for seamless integration of new control information and ensures compatibility across different versions or systems.

[0356] In a possible implementation, the higher layer signaling may include: media access control (MAC) layer signaling or radio resource control (RRC) layer signaling.

[0357] In a possible implementation, the at least one piece of indication information may include at least one token one-to-one corresponding to at least one piece of first semantic information in the at least one piece of semantic information. Token may be used as indication information. A token may serve as a unique identifier for a specific piece of semantic information, which can then be mapped to its corresponding piece of semantic information. This approach provides a possible implementation manner for the mapping between indication information and semantic information, and can ensure that the receiving user device can easily and accurately understand the control information. In addition, by using a token-based approach, the mapping relationship can be established and managed efficiently and flexibly.

[0358] In a possible implementation, each of the at least one token may be obtained based on a corresponding piece of first semantic information by using a pre-trained neural network. The central device may use a pre-trained neural network to parse and tokenize the controlling message in natural language, to obtain the at least one token. The user device may also obtain multiple candidate tokens from multiple pieces of semantic information by using the pre-trained neural network which has been configured in advance, and then the user device may obtain a target token relevant to the token carried in the first control information whereby the user device can understand the meaning or content of the control information. In this way, only a neural network is needed to be configured, and there may be no need to inform the user device of the semantic information represented by each token, and thus the mapping relationship can be established and managed efficiently and flexibly.

[0359] In a possible implementation, the at least one piece of indication information may include at least one index one-to-one corresponding to at least one control information field bundle, each of the at least one control information field bundle includes multiple control information fields, and the at least one piece of semantic information may include at least one piece of bundle information each corresponding to one index in the at least one index and indicating multiple control information fields of a control information field bundle that the one index corresponds to. The index may also be called an indicator or a bundle indicator in the present disclosure.

[0360] In a possible implementation, each of the at least one piece of bundle information may include at least one type of following types of information: information indicating a single control information field, or information indicating an index of a control information field bundle. Each bundle includes multiple control information fields. When the control information is DCI, the control information field can be DCI field, and the control information field bundle can be called DCI field bundle. In an example, the bundle information may include multiple pieces of information each indicating a single control information field, such as a DCI field. A control information field bundle may also be defined upon other existing bundle (s) . As an example, the bundle information may include multiple pieces of information each indicating the index of an existing control information field bundle. A control information field bundle may also be defined with a combination of one or more single control information fields and one or more existing control information field bundles. For example, the bundle information may include one or more pieces of information each indicating a single control information field, and one or more pieces of information each indicating the index of an existing control information field bundle. When the user device has known a control information field bundle and its index, the bundle information can just include information indicating the index of the control information field bundle, and does not need to include the information indicating a single control information field of the control information field bundle. When a control information field bundle is defined upon an existing control information field bundle by using information indicating the index of the existing control information field bundle, the message (s) previously transmitted using a large number of bits, can now be compressed to a few bits. Thus the signaling overhead is reduced.

[0361] In a possible implementation, the at least one index may be obtained based on the at least one piece of bundle information and a one-to-one mapping relationship between one or more indexes and one or more pieces of bundle information, where the one or more indexes include the at least one index and the one or more pieces of bundle information include the at least one piece of bundle information. The one-to-one mapping relationship ensures that each index corresponds uniquely to a specific piece of bundle information.

[0362] In a possible implementation, the at least one piece of indication information may include one or more  pieces of position information, and each of the one or more pieces of position information corresponds to a respective one of the one or more pieces of semantic information included in the second control information. In a possible implementation, each piece of position information may include starting position information and length information of a corresponding piece of semantic information. Position information may also be used as indication information. The indication information may include position information, and the position information may include starting position information (also referred to address information of the present disclosure) and length information. The starting position information may indicate starting position information of a corresponding piece of semantic information included in the second control information. The length information may indicate the size of the corresponding piece of semantic information included in the second control information.

[0363] By using position information, it becomes possible to indicate the specific position of semantic information in the second control information. The use of position information establishes a clear correspondence between the indication information and semantic information. This granular control allows for precise identification and manipulation of individual elements or subsets of the control information.

[0364] A possible example will be described where the central device may be a basic station (BS) , and the first control information and the second control information may be a two-stage DCI. The first control information may be 1st-stage DCI, and the second control information may be 2nd-stage DCI.

[0365] As shown in FIG. 29, the BS sends two-stage DCI to the UE. The 1st-stage DCI belongs to bit communication, and the 2nd-stage DCI is actually semantic communication. The basic information to establish a wireless connection is carried in the 1st-stage DCI and more advanced features are carried in the semantic embedding in the 2nd-stage. The 1st-stage DCI and 2nd-stage DCI are connected through the token system (or a key-value system) . Where the token (or key) may be transmitted (carried) in the 1st-stage DCI and the semantic meaning (or value) may be transmitted (carried) in the 2nd-stage DCI, or pre-configured via higher layer signaling such as MAC layer signaling or RRC layer signaling , or stored in the user device.

[0366] For example, if a BS wants to do “set the bandwidth to be 50Mhz” , the BS does not need to complete  LLM but performs tokenization for the LLM. The BS will parse the command into several instructions, and tokenize these instructions using either a pre-trained neural network, or simply using a set of DCI fields, called DCI bundles, indexed in a table (e.g., dictionary) . The tokens or the indexes can be transmitted in the 1st-stage DCI, and their corresponding meaning or content can be transmitted in the 2nd-stage DCI, if necessary. Note that if the meaning or content are already known to the receiver (e.g., in a stored table) , the 2nd-stage DCI needs not be transmitted, which saves signaling transmission overhead.

[0367] The semantic embedding may be explicitly defined by DCI fields, or implicitly or loosely defined in nature language sentences. If it is the latter, the precise meaning of the language is interpreted by another tokenizer, which tries many candidate semantic embeddings and choose the one with the highest relevance score from the inner product. In this way, a separate dictionary is not needed to store the relationship between the token and the semantic meaning.

[0368] The two-stage DCI is well suited for the open-vocabulary messaging system. As illustrated in FIG. 30, the stage-1 DCI and stage-2 DCI are linked by an addressing system. In details, the stage-1 DCI comprises a first field reserved for critical (basic) DCI (i.e., critical field in a DCI) , one or more second fields, each corresponds to one controlling message or a set (combination) of controlling messages to be transmitted in the stage-2 DCI. Wherein, each second field may contain an address (addr) , length and values (minimum information, e.g., value 1 and value 2) about the controlling message, because they usually only require a few bits, typically of fixed length. The full definition of the controlling message is transmitted in the 2nd stage, which usually has bigger size and flexible length. In details, the address information in the stage-1 DCI indicates the starting position of a controlling message in the stage-2 DCI, the length information in the stage-1 DCI indicates the size of the controlling message, value 1 information indicates token, index and codeword corresponding to the semantic content in the stage-2 DCI. It shall be understood that the size and length in this disclosure could be the same meaning.

[0369] There are potentially many control messages. They can be simultaneously transmitted at once. Therefore, the full messages in the 2nd-stage DCI needs to be concatenated, where each message has a unique starting position. This position is indicated in the 1st-stage DCI, along with the length and key information to fully describe the message in the 2nd-stage DCI.

[0370] In the following, a more detailed description for 2-stage DCI design will be provided.

[0371] Examples of DCI format / fields design for stage-1 DCI (e.g., 1st-stage DCI) .

[0372] The fields in a DCI format are categorized into two types

[0373] Type-1 fields are the critical contents, such as time / frequency domain resources, modulation and coding scheme, or HARQ-related fields (new data indicator, redundant version, HARQ process number, …) for scheduling a downlink / uplink data transmission. They are transmitted every time, i.e., in each DCI transmission for scheduling.

[0374] Type-2 fields are extended contents, such as frequency hopping, HARQ codebook, TPC commands, MIMO-related fields (reference signal, antenna ports, precoding information, ... ) , or CBG information for scheduling a downlink / uplink data transmission. They are not transmitted every time for scheduling.

[0375] The above Type-1 fields and Type-2 fields designs are described for a scenario / purpose of scheduling a downlink / uplink data transmission. For other scenario / purpose, corresponding Type-1 fields and Type-2 fields designs are similar, i.e., Type-1 fields are for the critical contents and Type-2 fields are for extended contents.

[0418] Bundling / combining of type-2 DCI fields:

[0419] Type-2 fields could be lengthy, but they are not necessarily transmitted every time, i.e., some DCI may include at least one of the Type-2 fields and some other DCI may not include any Type-2 fields. To support a more compact way of transmission, they can be “bundled” or “combined” to represent a temporary DCI configuration  indicator -called a “DCI field bundle” . A type-2 fields bundle can be a subset of all type-2 fields.

[0420] For example, there could be 3 DCI fields bundle defined as follows:

[0421] DCI fields bundle 1 includes:

[0422] - Bandwidth part indicator -0, 1 or 2 bits

[0423] - SRS resource set indicator -0 or 2 bits

[0424] - SRS resource indicator -bitwidth according to N_SRS

[0425] - Precoding information and number of layers -variable bitwidth

[0426] - Second Precoding information -variable bitwidth

[0427] - Antenna ports -variable bitwidth

[0433] DCI fields bundle 3 includes:

[0434] - CSI request -0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 bits

[0435] - PTRS-DMRS association -variable bitwidth

[0436] - Second PTRS-DMRS association -0 or 2 bits

[0437] - DMRS sequence initialization -0 or 1 bit

[0438] How to define a DCI field bundle

[0439] A “DCI fields bundle” can be defined by higher layer signaling such MAC signaling or RRC signaling, or by other DCI fields (may be newly added ones) , to be described.

[0440] In details, the “DCI fields bundle” can be defined via one or more of the following:

[0441] - Pre-configure and memorize: some frequently used bundles can be pre-defined via RRC signaling;

[0442] - Transmit and memorize: after explicitly transmitting a DCI comprising type-2 fields, together with a bundle indicator, it can be memorized by both the transmitter and the receiver, and “semantically encoded” by a fixed length bundle index (or token, or codeword) . For example, a set of  DCI fields {A, B and C} can be bundled, and indexed by DCI bundle index 1. And another set of DCI fields {D, E F} can be bundled, and indexed by DCI bundle index 2.

[0443] - The base station (or transmitter) can freely define any bundle, in order to save signaling. For example, DCI can be parsed into multiple instructions, which are further defined by a set of DCI fields. These control messages do not need to be standardized in advance, but freely assembled by a BS. Free definition allows one DCI bundle to represent a complicated control message, which includes a large number of DCI fields. These messages, previously transmitted using a large number of bits, can now be compressed to a few bits. Thus the signaling overhead is reduced.

[0444] - Bundles can be further defined upon existing bundles to increase compression ratio. For example, a DCI bundle does not directly refer to a set of DCI fields, but to a set of DCI bundles. This 2-layer bundling can further increase compression ratio. For another example, DCI bundle index 1 represents a union of DCI bundle indexes {2, 3, 4} , and each of the indexes {2, 3, 4} further represents a set of DCI fields. Instead of transmitting {2, 3, 4} , we only transmit “1” . The compression ratio is thus increased. Thus the signaling overhead is reduced.

[0445] How to indicate a DCI field bundle

[0446] The bundle indicator is a fixed length index with one-to-one mapping to a DCI field bundle. And the bundle indicator is transmitted in DCI to indicate that DCI field bundle.

[0447] In one example, as shown in FIG. 31, the RRC layer (e.g., in a base station) first define a DCI field bundle and signaling the definition to the UE. The signaling of the definition may be transmitted in Slot t. Then, in slot t’ >t, the base station may send a DCI field bundle indicator in DCI to the UE. Wherein the DCI may include a Type-1 fields and the DCI field bundle indicator.

[0448] In another example, as shown in FIG. 32, first DCI is used to (e.g., in a base station) signaling a DCI field bundle indicator with the definition of the DCI field bundle to the UE. The signaling of the definition may be transmitted in Slot t. In addition, the first DCI may further include a Type-1 filed. Then, in slot t’ >t, the base station may send a DCI field bundle indicator via second DCI to the UE. Wherein the second DCI may include a conventional fields and the DCI field bundle indicator. Please note that the conventional fields could be replaced by Type-1 fields.

[0449] How to transmit a DCI field bundle

[0450] This is from transmitting side (e.g., base station (or other network device) ) . If a DCI field bundle has not  been defined, or transmitted before, or cannot be efficiently described by a combination of existing DCI field bundles, it needs to be transmitted in full, which means information includes all fields of a DCI field bundle will be transmitted from the base station (or other network device) to the UE, via e.g, . RRC signaling or DCI. Further a DCI field bundle indicator (or index) could also be transmitted to the UE, together with the information includes all fields of a DCI field bundle.

[0451] Otherwise, If a DCI field bundle has been defined and known by both the base station (or other network device) and the UE, a DCI field bundle indicator, or a set of DCI field bundle indicators instead of the full DCI fields of the DCI field bundle, can be transmitted from the base station (or other network device) to the UE.

[0452] In a possible implementation, the first control information may include at least one first portion for carrying the at least one piece of indication information, where each of the at least one first portion carries one piece of the at least one piece of indication information. In a possible implementation, the first control information may further include a second portion for carrying mandatory control information. The fields of the first control information may be categorized into two portions. The first portion is extended contents and the second portion is used to carry mandatory control information, or called critical control information, such as critical DCI for downlink control information, which is transmitted every time in each transmission for scheduling.

[0453] By dividing the first control information into separate portions, independent processing and handling can be allowed. The system can focus specifically on interpreting and acting upon the indication information without being concerned about the mandatory control information. This promotes modularity and enhances the overall efficiency of the control system. What’s more, since the indication information and mandatory control information are segregated, the indication information can be distinct and isolated from other types of control information, making the indication information easier to identify and interpret.

[0454] In a possible implementation, the mandatory control information includes at least one of the following:

[0455] a downlink control information (DCI) format 0_1, cyclic redundancy check (CRC) , a carrier indicator, a downlink feedback information (DFI) flag, an identifier for DCI formats, frequency domain resource assignment, time domain resource assignment, a frequency hopping flag, a modulation and coding scheme, a new data indicator, a redundancy version, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process number, a transmit power control (TPC) command for a scheduled physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) , or ChannelAccess-CPext.

[0456] In a possible implementation, the at least one first portion indicates at least one of the following:

[0457] a bandwidth part indicator , a first downlink assignment index, a second downlink assignment index, a  third downlink assignment index, a second TPC command for a scheduled PUSCH, an SRS resource set indicator, an SRS resource indicator, precoding information and the number of layers, second Precoding information, an antenna port, an SRS request, an SRS offset indicator, a CSI request, CBG transmission information (CBGTI) , PTRS-DMRS association, second PTRS-DMRS association, a beta_offset indicator, DMRS sequence initialization, a UL-SCH indicator, ChannelAccess-CPext-CAPC, open-loop power control parameter set indication, a priority indicator, an invalid symbol pattern indicator, a minimum applicable scheduling offset indicator, SCell dormancy indication, a sidelink assignment index, PDCCH monitoring adaptation indication.

[0458] In a possible implementation, the first control information may have a fixed mother code length. Nested channel codes may be applied. The mother code length may indicate length of the base code used in the nested structure. The first control information may have a fixed information block length. For the first control information of design, the same mother code length could be used to avoid puncturing to harm the performance.

[0459] In a possible implementation, the first control information has a pre-defined number of first portions. In a possible implementation, each of the pre-defined number of first portion may have a fixed length. Using a pre-defined number of first portions and a fixed length for carrying indication information can allow for low complexity of the user device.

[0460] In a possible implementation, the pre-defined number may be greater than one, and two or more first portions of the pre-defined number of first portions may have different lengths. Using first portions of different lengths can provide flexibility in transmission of control information.

[0461] In a possible implementation, a length of the first control information may be power of 2. Since many coding schemes, such as polar codes, are designed with efficient algorithms that work optimally when the code lengths are powers of 2, the first control information with the code length of power 2 is beneficial for encoding and decoding operations, and can lead to faster encoding and decoding processes, reducing computational complexity and improving overall system performance.

[0462] In a possible implementation, the at least one piece of indication information may be carried by a first number of first portions in the pre-defined number of first portions, where the first number is an integer equal to or greater than 1 and equal to or less than the pre-defined number.

[0463] In a possible implementation, when there exists one or more other first portions than the first number of first portions in the pre-defined number of first portions, the one or more other first code blocks are padded with a pre-defined bit value. For example, the one or more other first code blocks may be padded with zeros. By padding  the first code blocks other than the first number of first portions in the pre-defined number of first portions, a consistent format can be maintained and proper decoding can be ensured.

[0464] In a possible implementation, the first control information may further include CRC bits which are encoded from the second portion and the first number of first portions. CRC is a checksum algorithm that allows the receiver to detect errors in the received data. Since CRC bits are encoded from the transmitted second portion and the first number of first portion carrying indication information, the receiver can perform a CRC check on the received DCIs to verify their integrity.

[0465] In a possible implementation, each of the at least one first portion may be a code block.

[0466] In a possible implementation, the central device may encode the first control information via a first coding scheme. In a possible implementation, the first coding scheme includes polar code.

[0467] In a possible implementation, the mandatory control information may be carried by subchannels with highest reliability. Since the mandatory control information is critical information, it would be assigned to subchannels with highest reliability. By carrying the mandatory control information by subchannels with highest reliability, the likelihood of errors occurring in the mandatory control information is significantly reduced, thereby ensuring that critical control information is received accurately and reliably, minimizing the chances of misinterpretation or incorrect execution of commands.

[0468] In a possible implementation, the central device may encode the second control information by using a second coding scheme. In a possible implementation, the second coding scheme may include at least one of: polar code, or low-density parity check (LDPC) code.

[0469] In a possible implementation, the first control information may include multiple pieces of indication information and the second control information may include multiple pieces of semantic information which are concatenated. When there are multiple controlling messages need to be transmitted, the second control information may include multiple pieces of semantic information, and the multiple pieces of semantic information need to be concatenated. The indication information may include position information to correspond to the multiple pieces of semantic information included in the second control information respectively. By applying the concatenated encoding on the second control information, if a particular part encounters an error during decoding or execution, there is no need to further decode the subsequent parts. This allows for early termination of the decoding process, which can result in power savings.

[0470] In a possible implementation, the multiple pieces of semantic information may indicate a set of actions  required to be executed in order.

[0471] In a possible implementation, the first control information may be sent over a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) . In a possible implementation, the second control information may be sent over a PDCCH or a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) .

[0472] The following shows another possible example of the present disclosure.

[0473] Nested channel codes with a correlated codeword sequence may be utilized to improve the control signaling efficiency.

[0474] The design of nested channel codes includes two parts. The first part is: Nested codes with variable payload lengths provides flexibility for cases with different sizes of signaling message. And the second part includes: A correlated codeword sequence bears semantic meaning and thus can be exploited to save complexity. FIG. 33 shown a detail example.

[0475] As shown in FIG. 33, for the first part (stage-1 DCI) of design, the same mother code length could be used to avoid puncturing to harm the performance. If there’s no semantic part, then they become “frozen” bits. The length of the first part could be power of 2. In addition, the first part could be encoded via Polar code.

[0476] For the second part of design, it could be in data channels or control channels, for example, the second part may be encoded using polar codes, but transmitted in PDCCH, or encoded using polar codes, but transmitted in PDSCH; (data channel) , or encoded using low-density parity check (LDPC) codes or other codes, and transmitted in PDSCH (data channel) .

[0477] In the second part, concatenated encoding can be applied, each part of the concatenation corresponds to at least one sentence, at least one words, at least one phrase, at least one paragraph, at least one section, or at least one chapter…) , and each part is concatenated according to a meaningful order as a natural language. In the following, we take sentence as example. Sequentially, if one sentence has problem to execute, there’s no need to further decode the latter one, which means early termination. By doing this, the power consumption will be saved.

[0478] Take DCI as the control information as an example.

[0479] In some implementations, for the first part, the channel code design is shown in FIG. 34. In details:

[0480] - For each code block (CB) with a code length, a set of information (payload) lengths are possible

[0481] - Critical DCI is reserved and mandatory, thus will appear in every part-1 DCI encoding

[0482] - Frozen bits selection follows existing polar code construction, e.g., NR polar

[0483] - Semantic DCI is divided into fix-sized blocks, and are optional (e.g., semantic DCI 1, semantic DCI 2, semantic DCI 3, as shown in FIG. 32) , but the number of blocks may be limited and each block has a fixed size (w. r. t. code length) . Optionally, two blocks can have different sizes. Possible benefit for limited number of blocks is that, fewer semantic blocks corresponds to fewer code rates to be blindly tested during PDCCH blind detection. This is for receiver low complexity.

[0484] - If a short semantic DCI is encoded, then one or more semantic DCI blocks is assigned with value, while other blocks are padded with zeros.

[0485] - A number of blind decoding (detections) are performed, assuming one more semantic DCI block than the previous attempt. For example, in decoding attempt 1, the critical DCI and CRC will be tried to be decoded. After the decoding attempt 1 is successful, then decoding attempt 1 will be performed, in which the Semantic DCI 1 will be tried to be decoded together with the successfully decoded critical DCI and CRC, to try to obtain Semantic DCI 1 successfully. If decoding attempt 1 fails, then Decoding attempt 3 for Semantic DCI 2, assuming a higher polar code rate. If it is still not successful, then Decoding attempt 4 for Semantic DCI 3.

[0486] If Polar Code is used, an example of the design is shown in FIG. 35. If the channel code is polar code, the DCI bit values can be assigned to polarized subchannels according to their reliability. Critical DCI bits are assigned to subchannels with highest reliability, and then the 1st, 2nd and 3rd semantic DCI blocks, and so on.

[0487] In FIG. 35, the Semantic DCI 1 in part 1 DCI indicates the corresponding DCI content 1 in part 2 DCI. The former may stores the address, length, or token / index of the latter.

[0488] The correlated property across multiple codewords brings the following design and benefits:

[0489] Sequential encoding (embedding) and decoding (execution) could be achieved.

[0490] - The semantically encoded DCI contents are not independent, but relate to each other. For example, these DCI contents jointly complete a configuration from the transmitter (or Base Station) . The configuration involves a set of actions specified by the DCI contents, and requires to be executed in order.

[0491] - If a semantic DCI block, and its associated DCI content fail to be correctly decoded, then it makes no sense to further decode the subsequent blocks. The decoding can be  early terminated to save power.

[0492] A central device generates first control information and then sends first control information, where the first control information includes at least one piece of indication information respectively corresponding to at least one piece of semantic information, and each of the at least one piece of semantic information indicates a corresponding action.

[0493] FIG. 36 shows a schematic flowchart of a transmission method for a controlling message according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure. The method can be implemented by a second apparatus. Optionally, the second apparatus can be a user device or other device that has similar function (for example, the second apparatus could be a chip) , which is not limited herein. As shown in FIG. 36, the method can include the following steps.

[0494] S3610, obtain first control information, where the first control information includes at least one piece of indication information respectively corresponding to at least one piece of semantic information, and each of the at least one piece of semantic information indicates a corresponding action.

[0495] In the embodiment, the user device may obtain first control information, which includes at least one piece of indication information respectively corresponding to at least one piece of semantic information.

[0496] In a possible implementation, the first control information may be downlink control information or sidelink control information. When the first control information is downlink control information, it also refers to 1st-stage DCI, stage-1 DCI, etc. in the present disclosure.

[0497] In a possible implementation, each of the at least one piece of semantic information corresponds to a controlling message in natural language respectively. The controlling message may be generated by the central device by using a language learning model (LLM) .

[0498] In a possible implementation, each of one or more pieces of indication information indicates a corresponding piece of semantic information in the at least one piece of semantic information, where the at least one piece of indication formation includes the one or more pieces of indication information. In this way, the need for transmitting redundant or unnecessary information can be reduced. If the receiver already knows the mapping relationship between the indication information and the semantic information, there is no need to transmit the semantic information again. This helps to reduce signaling transmission overhead and facilitate efficient use of resources.

[0499] In a possible implementation, the user device may store a mapping relationship between one or more pieces of indication information and one or more pieces of semantic information. The user device may obtain the mapping relationship between one or more pieces of indication information and one or more pieces of semantic information and then may store the mapping relationship for further use. By storing a mapping relationship, the signaling transmission overhead can be reduced.

[0500] In a possible implementation, the mapping relationship is predefined in a standard, or obtained via higher layer signaling, or obtained via control information.

[0501] By preconfiguring or pre-storing the mapping relationship, or informing the user device the mapping relationship directly, the user device can quickly and accurately associate the indication information with its corresponding semantic information.

[0502] In a possible implementation, the higher layer signaling may include media access control (MAC) layer signaling or radio resource control (RRC) layer signaling.

[0503] In a possible implementation, the user device may obtain the at least one piece of semantic information  according to the at least one piece of indication information and a mapping relationship between the at least one piece of indication information and the at least one piece of semantic information, where the one or more pieces of indication information include the at least one piece of indication information, and the one or more pieces of semantic information include the at least one piece of semantic information, and the user device may perform at least one control operation according to the at least one piece of semantic information.

[0504] The user device can obtain the semantic information based on the indication information and the mapping relationship between the semantic information and the indication information. In this way, the user device can effectively obtain the relevant semantic information based on the provided indication information.

[0505] In a possible implementation, the user device may obtain the second control information, where the second control information includes one or more pieces of the at least one piece of semantic information, and the user device may obtain the one or more pieces of semantic information from the second control information. First control information and second control information may be generated to transmit the controlling message, which allows for more efficient use of radio resources and provides greater flexibility in terms of error correction and retransmission.

[0506] S3620, operate according to the first control information.

[0507] In the embodiment, after obtaining the first control information, the user device may operate according the first control information.

[0508] In a possible implementation, the user device may obtain second control information, where the second control information includes one or more pieces of semantic information, the at least one piece of semantic information includes the one or more pieces of semantic information.

[0509] In a possible implementation, in response to determining that a mapping relationship of a first piece of indication information has been stored, the user device may update the mapping relationship of the first piece of indication information according to a first piece of semantic information, where the first piece of indication information corresponds to the first piece of semantic information, the at least one piece of indication information includes the first piece of indication information, and the one or more pieces of semantic information include the first piece of semantic information. When the user device obtains the indication information included in the first control information, and obtains the corresponding semantic information included in the second control information, the user device may determine whether it has stored the mapping relationship related to the obtained indication information. For example, the user device may detect the mapping relationship for a particular first piece of  indication information already exists in its memory or storage. If the user device determines that the mapping relationship related to the indication information included in the first semantic information has been stored, the user device may update the stored mapping relationship according to the obtained semantic information. By updating the mapping relationship, the system can adapt to changes in the indication information and semantic information and ensure that the correct control operations are being performed.

[0510] In a possible implementation, in response to determining that a mapping relationship of a second piece of indication information has not been stored, the user device may store a mapping relationship between the second piece of indication information and a second piece of semantic information, where the second piece of indication information corresponding to the second piece of semantic information, the at least one piece of indication information includes the second piece of indication information, and the one or more pieces of semantic information includes the second piece of semantic information. When the user device obtains the indication information included in the first control information, and obtains the corresponding semantic information included in the second control information, the user device may determine whether it has stored the mapping relationship related to the obtained indication information. If the user device determines that the mapping relationship related to the indication information included in the first semantic information has not been stored, the user device may store the mapping relationship between the obtained indication information and the obtained semantic information. For example, the user device may add a new {key, value} pair, where the key is the indication information included in the first control information and the value is the corresponding semantic information included in the second control information. By storing the mapping relationship of new indication information and its corresponding indication information, it ensures that the system can recognize and respond to new indication and semantic information pairs, enabling it to perform new control operations as required.

[0511] In a possible implementation, the user device may perform at least one control operation according to the at least one piece of semantic information. After the user device obtains the semantic information, the user device may perform the corresponding action indicated by the semantic information.

[0512] In a possible implementation, the at least one piece of indication information may include at least one token one-to-one corresponding to at least one piece of first semantic information in the at least one piece of semantic information. The token serves as a unique identifier for a specific piece of indication information, which can then be mapped to its corresponding piece of first semantic information. This approach provides a possible implementation manner for the mapping between indication information and semantic information, and can ensure that the user  device can easily and accurately interpret the intended meaning of the control information. In addition, by using a token-based approach, the mapping relationship can be established and managed efficiently and flexibly.

[0513] In a possible implementation, the at least one piece of indication information may include at least one index one-to-one corresponding to at least one control information field bundle, each of the at least one control information field bundle includes multiple control information fields, and the at least one piece of semantic information includes at least one piece of bundle information each corresponding to one index in the at least one index and indicating multiple control information fields of a control information field bundle that the one index corresponds to.

[0514] In a possible implementation, each of the at least one piece of bundle information may include at least one type of following types of information: information indicating a single control information field, or information indicating an index of a control information field bundle.

[0515] Some possible examples will be described in the following, where the control information may be DCI.

[0516] How to receive a DCI field bundle

[0517] This is from receiving side (e.g., UE) . Firstly, a DCI dictionary (key-value) table is stored, where the keys are the DCI field bundle indicators, and the values are the DCI field bundle contents. As discussed before, the UE could obtain the DCI dictionary by pre-defined in the standard and stored in the memory, or via signaling from the network device.

[0518] Then if a DCI field bundle indicator is received, and the corresponding DCI content is not received, then  the receiver will look up the DCI dictionary to obtain (fetch) its content. The FIG. 37 shows a detailed example.

[0519] Then if a DCI field bundle indicator is received, and the corresponding DCI content is not received, then the receiver will look up the DCI dictionary to obtain (fetch) its content. The FIG. 37 shows a detailed example.

[0520] Optionally, if both a DCI field bundle indicator and the corresponding DCI content are received in first DCI, and the indicator has not been obtained before, then the receiver will add a new {key, value} pair, where the key is the DCI field bundle indicator and the value is the corresponding DCI content. The FIG. 38 shows a detailed example. Then the UE will apply the DCI field bundle when receiving second DCI with the DCI field bundle indicator. Alternatively, the UE will apply the DCI field bundle when receiving the first DCI. Please note the apply here means performing operations according to the DCI, for example, when DCI indicates allocated resources for uplink transmission, then the UE will perform uplink transmission using the allocated resource.

[0521] Optionally, if both a DCI field bundle indicator and the corresponding DCI content are received, and the indicator has been obtained before, then the receiver will update the value (DCI content) in the DCI dictionary corresponding to the key (bundle indicator) . The FIG. 39 shows a detailed example. Then the UE will apply the DCI field bundle when receiving DCI with the DCI field bundle indicator. Alternatively, the UE will apply the DCI field bundle when receiving the first DCI. Please note the apply here means performing operations according to the DCI, for example, when DCI indicates allocated resources for uplink transmission, then the UE will perform uplink transmission using the allocated resource.

[0522] In a possible implementation, the at least one piece of indication information may include at least one token one-to-one corresponding to at least one piece of first semantic information in the at least one piece of semantic information. The user device may obtain at least one target token relevant to the at least one token from multiple candidate tokens, where the multiple candidate tokens are obtained from multiple pieces of candidate semantic information by using a pre-trained network; and the user device may perform at least one control operation according to at least one pieces of candidate semantic information corresponding to the at least one target token. The user device may use a pre-trained neural network to obtain multiple candidate tokens from multiple pieces of semantic information, and compare the token included in the obtained indication information with candidate tokens, and may determine the candidate token most relevant to the token included in the obtained indication information as the target token. The candidate tokens may be stored in the user device, or may be obtained from candidate semantic information by using a pre-trained network each time that it needs.

[0523] In a possible implementation, the at least one piece of indication information may include one or more  pieces of position information one-to-one corresponding to one or more pieces of semantic information of the at least one piece of semantic information. In a possible implementation, each piece of the one or more pieces of position information may include starting position information and length information of a corresponding piece of semantic information. By using position information, it becomes possible to indicate the specific position of semantic information within the second control information. This approach reduces the computational overhead required for interpretation and retrieval, leading to improved efficiency.

[0524] In a possible implementation, the user device may obtain second control information, where the second control information includes the one or more pieces of semantic information, and may obtain a respective piece of semantic information from the second control information according to each of the one or more pieces of position information, and perform at least one control operation according to the one or more pieces of semantic information. The user device can obtain the semantic information from the second control information according to the position information included in the first control information and then perform corresponding control operations. By using the position information, the user device can directly identify the semantic information in the second control information, which can reduce complexity and computational overhead in identification of semantic information from the second control information.

[0525] In a possible implementation, the first control information may include at least one first portion for carrying the at least one piece of indication information, where each of the at least one first portion carries one piece of the at least one piece of indication information. In a possible implementation, the first control information may further include a second portion for carrying mandatory control information.

[0526] By dividing the first control information into separate portions, independent processing and handling can be allowed.

[0527] In a possible implementation, the mandatory control information may include at least one of the following: a downlink control information (DCI) format 0_1, cyclic redundancy check (CRC) , a carrier indicator, a downlink feedback information (DFI) flag, an identifier for DCI formats, frequency domain resource assignment, time domain resource assignment, a frequency hopping flag, a modulation and coding scheme, a new data indicator, a redundancy version, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process number, a transmit power control (TPC) command for a scheduled physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) , or ChannelAccess-CPext.

[0528] In a possible implementation, the at least one first portion may indicate at least one of the following: a bandwidth part indicator , a first downlink assignment index, a second downlink assignment index, a third downlink assignment index, a second TPC command for a scheduled PUSCH, an SRS resource set indicator, an SRS resource indicator, precoding information and the number of layers, second Precoding information, an antenna port, an SRS request, an SRS offset indicator, a CSI request, CBG transmission information (CBGTI) , PTRS-DMRS association, second PTRS-DMRS association, a beta_offset indicator, DMRS sequence initialization, a UL-SCH indicator, ChannelAccess-CPext-CAPC, open-loop power control parameter set indication, a priority indicator, an invalid symbol pattern indicator, a minimum applicable scheduling offset indicator, SCell dormancy indication, a sidelink assignment index, PDCCH monitoring adaptation indication.

[0529] In a possible implementation, the first control information may have a fixed mother code length. For the first control information of design, the same mother code length could be used to avoid puncturing to harm the performance.

[0530] In a possible implementation, the first control information may have a pre-defined number of first portions. In a possible implementation, each of the pre-defined number of first portion may have a fixed length. Using a pre-defined number of first portions and a fixed length for carrying indication information can allow for low complexity of the user device.

[0531] In a possible implementation, the pre-defined number may be greater than one, and two or more first portions of the pre-defined number of first portions may have different lengths. Using first portions of different lengths can provide flexibility in transmission of control information

[0532] In a possible implementation, a length of the first control information may be power of 2.

[0533] In a possible implementation, the at least one piece of indication information may be carried by a first number of first portions in the pre-defined number of first portions, where the first number is an integer equal to or greater than 1 and equal to or less than the pre-defined number.

[0534] In a possible implementation, when there exists one or more other first portions than the first number of first portions in the pre-defined number of first portions, the one or more other first code blocks may be padded with a pre-defined bit value. By padding the first code blocks other than the first number of first portions in the pre-defined number of first portions, a consistent format can be maintained and proper decoding can be ensured.

[0535] In a possible implementation, the first control information may further include CRC bits which are encoded from the second portion and the first number of first portions. Since CRC bits are encoded from the transmitted second portion and the first number of first portions, the user device can perform a CRC check on the received DCIs to verify their integrity.

[0536] In a possible implementation, each of the at least one first portion may be a code block.

[0537] In a possible implementation, the user device may decode the first control information via a first decoding scheme. In a possible implementation, the first decoding scheme may include polar code.

[0538] In a possible implementation, the mandatory control information may be carried by subchannels with highest reliability. By carrying the mandatory control information by subchannels with highest reliability, the likelihood of errors occurring in the mandatory control information is significantly reduced, thereby ensuring that critical control information is received accurately and reliably, minimizing the chances of misinterpretation or incorrect execution of commands.

[0539] In a possible implementation, the user device may perform a first decoding attempt on a first code block via a first decoding scheme, where the first code block carries mandatory control information; and may perform at least one further decoding attempt until a further decoding attempt is successful, where each of the at least one further decoding attempt is performed on one more code block than a previous decoding attempt. By attempting to decode each code block in a progressive manner, the system utilizes the previously decoded information to improve the chances of successfully decoding the first control information. What’s more, the iterative attempts allow the system to optimize resource utilization. Instead of blindly attempting all possible combinations at once, the system gradually narrows down the possibilities, focusing on a specific code block in each attempt. This reduces computational complexity and efficiently utilizes resources.

[0540] For example, a number of blind decoding (detections) are performed, assuming one more semantic DCI block than the previous attempt.

[0541] In a possible implementation, the user device may decode the second control information by using a second decoding scheme. In a possible implementation, the second decoding scheme may include at least one of: polar code, or low-density parity check (LDPC) code.

[0542] In a possible implementation, the first control information may include multiple pieces of indication information, and the second control information may include multiple pieces of semantic information which are concatenated. By applying the concatenated encoding on the second control information, if a particular part encounters an error during decoding or execution, there is no need to further decode the subsequent parts. This allows for early termination of the decoding process, which can result in power savings.

[0543] In a possible implementation, the multiple pieces of semantic information may indicate a set of actions required to be executed in order. That is to say, several actions can be required via a single piece of control information, which improves the efficiency of the system.

[0544] In a possible implementation, in response to a failure in decoding a piece of semantic information in the second control information, the user device may stop the decoding of the second control information. Since the pieces of semantic information in the second control information are not independent, but relate to each other, if a piece of semantic information fails to be decoded, it makes no sense to further decode the subsequent blocks. The decoding can be early terminated to save power.

[0545] For example, if a semantic DCI block, and its associated DCI content fail to be correctly decoded, then it makes no sense to further decode the subsequent blocks. The decoding can be early terminated to save power.

[0546] In a possible implementation, the first control information may be obtained over a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) . In a possible implementation, the second control information may be obtained over a PDCCH or a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) .

[0547] A user device obtains first control information, where the first control information includes at least one piece of indication information respectively corresponding to at least one piece of semantic information, and each  of the at least one piece of semantic information indicates a corresponding action.

[0548] Please note that, for V2X scenario, the DCI may be replayed by SCI, DCI field bundle may be replaced by SCI field bundle, ….
