Description

[0001] AN AQUATIC TRAINING SYSTEM AND METHOD

[0002] FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The present invention generally relates to training systems and, more particularly, to an aquatic training system designated to provide various possibilities of physical activities and training.

[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0005] Aquatic training systems refer to exercise programs and equipment designed for use in water. Water-based workouts offer unique benefits due to the natural resistance and buoyancy of water, which can help improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, flexibility, balance, and overall physical well-being. There are several types of aquatic training systems, each with its own characteristics and targeted outcomes. Here are some common examples:

[0006] • Aquatic Resistance Training: Aquatic resistance training involves performing exercises in the water against the resistance provided by the water itself. This can be achieved by using handheld paddles, ankle weights, or specialized resistance equipment designed for water use. The water resistance helps to engage various muscle groups, providing a challenging workout that can improve muscular strength and endurance.

[0007] • Aqua Aerobics: Aqua aerobics, also known as water aerobics, is a low-impact cardiovascular workout performed in the water. It typically involves rhythmic movements and exercises set to music. This type of training is suitable for all fitness levels and helps improve cardiovascular endurance, joint flexibility, and overall stamina.

[0008] • Aqua Jogging / Running: Aqua jogging or running is similar to land-based jogging or running but is performed in the water with the help of a buoyancy belt or a floatation device to keep the body afloat. This training is gentle on the joints and can be beneficial for individuals recovering from injuries or looking for a low-impact alternative to traditional running.

[0009] • Aquatic Plyometrics: Aquatic plyometrics involves performing explosive movements in the water. The buoyancy of the water reduces the impact on joints while still providing resistance to the muscles. It can be an excellent option for improving power, speed, and agility.

[0010] • Aqua Cycling: Aqua cycling involves stationary cycling performed in a pool on special stationary bikes that are designed to be used in water. This training combines the benefits of cycling with the added resistance of water for a challenging cardiovascular workout.

[0011] • Aqua Yoga and Aqua Pilates: Aqua yoga and aqua Pilates are adaptations of traditional yoga and Pilates exercises performed in the water. The water provides added support, making it easier to maintain poses and perform movements while increasing the challenge to core stability and balance.

[0012] • Deep Water Running: Deep water running involves running in deep water with the use of a floatation belt or vest. This workout is beneficial for cardiovascular fitness, balance, and lower body strength, and it can also help with injury rehabilitation.

[0013] Aquatic training systems that use buoys are designed to provide additional support and resistance force during water workouts. Buoys are buoyant devices that can be used to target specific muscle groups or enhance the overall effectiveness of aquatic exercises. Here are various types of buoy-based aquatic training systems: Aqua Jogging Buoys: Aqua jogging buoys are specially designed buoyant belts or vests that help keep the upper body afloat while performing deep water running or jogging exercises and allow users to focus on lower body movements without having to worry about staying afloat, making it an excellent cardiovascular workout with minimal impact on joints.

[0014] • Aquatic Dumbbells: Aquatic dumbbells are buoyant hand-held devices used to add resistance to arm and upper body exercises in the water. They may come in various shapes and sizes, providing different levels of resistance for strength training and toning the upper body.

[0015] • Leg Floats and Buoyancy Belts: Leg floats and buoyancy belts are buoyant devices that target the lower body by reducing the buoyancy in the legs during water exercises. These devices challenge the core and leg muscles as users work to keep their legs submerged, providing an effective lower body workout.

[0016] • Aqua Noodles or Water Noodles: Aqua noodles, also known as water noodles, are long cylindrical foam devices that offer buoyancy and support during aquatic exercises. They can be used to assist with balance, core stability, and resistance training for various muscle groups.

[0017] • Aqua Fit Bars or Aqua Fins: Aqua fit bars and fins are buoyant resistance devices that add challenge and intensity to water workouts.

[0018] • Aqua fit bars are hand-held bars with resistance paddles that increase the water's resistance during arm movements. Aqua fins, also known as aquatic flippers, are foot-mounted devices that enhance lower body strength and flexibility.

[0019] • Aqua Exercise Ball: Aqua exercise balls are inflatable, buoyant balls used in aquatic workouts. They can be held or placed between the body and pool wall to add resistance during a wide range of exercises, including core workouts, leg lifts, and arm exercises. Aqua Kickboards: Aqua kickboards are buoyant boards used to support the upper body while focusing on lower body exercises. They are particularly useful for toning and strengthening the legs and are commonly used for kickboard swimming drills.

[0020] • Aqua Resistance Bands: Aqua resistance bands are stretchable bands designed for water use, providing resistance during arm and leg exercises. They can be anchored to the pool edge or held by hand for various resistance training movements.

[0021] These buoy-based aquatic training systems can be used individually or incorporated into group fitness classes to create challenging and effective water workouts that cater to different fitness levels and goals. Always ensure proper form and technique while using buoy-based equipment to prevent injury and maximize the benefits of your aquatic training.

[0022] Some prior art publications have addressed this need disclosing various approaches. For example, US Patent publication 5242352 discloses an aquatic exercise apparatus for use in a pool of water and comprises a base member adapted to be removably anchored at the bottom of a pool of water with one or more rollers removably connected on the base member and one or more flexible lines attached at its other end to at least one buoyant float member, wherein in one embodiment the base member is a platform upon which the person exercising stands, and in another embodiment the base member is a suction cup member adapted to be removably secured to the bottom surface of the pool of water.
