Description

Deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device

[0001] The present invention relates to a deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device, and more particularly, to a deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device that maximizes tension generation in the deep cervical flexor muscles and enhances the efficiency of deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise by inducing dynamic movement in the user.

[0002] Deep neck flexors are located deep within the neck and are responsible for flexing the neck. These muscles include the rectus capitis anterior, longus capitis, and longus colli. Modern people often maintain a forward head posture for extended periods of time when using computers and IT devices. This weakens the deep cervical flexors, causing turtle neck syndrome. Therefore, strengthening exercises for these muscles are essential to correct turtle neck symptoms.

[0003] Traditional deep cervical flexor strengthening exercises involve flexing the upper cervical spine to its maximum angle without external resistance, while the jowls flex and compress the submandibular fat. However, these methods have limitations in generating strong tension in the deep cervical flexors.

[0004] The background technology described above is technical information that the inventor possessed for the purpose of deriving the present invention or acquired in the process of deriving the present invention, and cannot necessarily be said to be publicly known technology disclosed to the general public prior to the application for the present invention.

[0005] The present invention is intended to solve the aforementioned problems, and provides a device for strengthening the deep cervical flexor muscles by placing the axis of rotation on the upper cervical spine and fixing points on the lower jaw and sternum to increase the tension generated in the deep cervical flexor muscles, thereby improving the efficiency of deep cervical flexor muscle strengthening exercise.

[0006] However, these tasks are exemplary, and the tasks to be solved by the present invention are not limited thereto.

[0007] One embodiment of the present invention discloses a deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device including a first skeletal member extending in a first direction, a pair of symmetrical cervical skeletal parts, a chin rest including a first support member having both ends connected to one end of the first skeletal member included in each of the pair of cervical skeletal parts, a sternum support member having both ends connected to the other end of the first skeletal member included in each of the pair of cervical skeletal parts, a first connecting part arranged at a position where the cervical skeletal parts and the chin rest are connected, a second connecting part arranged at a position where the cervical skeletal parts and the sternum support are connected, and a resistance part arranged between the cervical skeletal parts and the chin rest.

[0008] In this embodiment, when the first angle, which is the angle between the cervical spine skeleton and the chin support, decreases, a resistance force can be applied in the direction opposite to the rotational direction of the chin support by the resistance part.

[0009] In this embodiment, the resistance part can adjust the strength of the resistance.

[0010] In this embodiment, the first connecting portion may include a rotating member that enables the chin rest portion to rotate.

[0011] In the present embodiment, the second connecting member may include an angle adjusting member that adjusts a second angle between the cervical spine skeleton and the sternum support to suit the user's body type.

[0012] In the present embodiment, the cervical spine skeleton may include a fixing member having one end connected to one side of the first skeletal member and a detachable member provided at the other end.

[0013] In the present embodiment, the cervical spine skeleton may include a first length adjustment member that adjusts the length of the cervical spine skeleton to fit the user's body type.

[0014] In the present embodiment, the chin rest may include a second length adjustment member that adjusts the length of the chin rest to suit the user's body type.

[0035] Hereinafter, a deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 4.

[0036] Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing a deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) according to one embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 2 is a side view showing a deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0037] The deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) is an exercise device that strengthens the deep cervical flexor muscles by allowing the user to exercise while wearing the device. Referring to Fig. 1, the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) may include a cervical spine skeleton (10), a chin rest (20), a sternum support (30), a first connecting portion (40), a second connecting portion (50), and a resistance portion (60).

[0038] The cervical spine skeleton (10) can extend along the user's cervical spine when the user wears the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1). The cervical spine is a part of the spine, located at the uppermost part of the spine, and refers to the seven bones that make up the neck. The cervical spine skeleton (10) can be formed as a pair that is symmetrical on the left and right. Referring to FIG. 2, the cervical spine skeleton (10) can each include a first skeletal member (10a) and a second skeletal member (10b).

[0039] The first skeletal member (10a) can extend in a first direction. The first direction refers to the Z-axis direction in FIG. 1. That is, the first skeletal member (10a) can extend along the user's cervical spine when the user wears the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1).

[0040] The second skeletal member (10b) may extend in a direction other than the first direction. Specifically, the second skeletal member (10b) may extend to the back of the user's neck when the user wears the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1).

[0041] The first skeletal member (10a) and the second skeletal member (10b) can be connected at the first connecting portion (40) to be described later. The first skeletal member (10a) and the second skeletal member (10b) can be connected as one body and fixed to each other. In other words, the angle between the first skeletal member (10a) and the second skeletal member (10b) can be constant. The angle between the first skeletal member (10a) and the second skeletal member (10b) is not particularly limited.

[0042] The first skeletal member (10a) can serve to support the user's cervical vertebrae. The second skeletal member (10b) can serve to assist in generating resistance according to the movement of the chin support member (20) to be described later. In one embodiment, a resistance member (60) to be described later can be connected to the second skeletal member (10b). That is, the second skeletal member (10b) can serve to transmit resistance to the user together with the second support member (20b) to be described later.

[0043] The material of the cervical spine skeleton (10) is not particularly limited. In one embodiment, the material of the cervical spine skeleton (10) may include reinforced plastic or aluminum alloy so as to maintain its shape even under resistance from the resistance unit (60) described later, and at the same time improve the portability of the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1).

[0044] The cervical spine skeleton (10) may be formed as a pair, as shown in Fig. 1. Each cervical spine skeleton (10) may be formed symmetrically left and right around the user's neck.

[0045] The cervical spine skeleton (10) may further include a fixing member (11) and a first length adjustment member (12).

[0046] The fixing member (11) can fix the cervical spine skeleton (10) to the user's neck. Referring to FIG. 1, the fixing member (11) can be fixed by having one end connected to one side of the first skeletal member (10a). The fixing member (11) can wrap around the back of the user's neck to fix the first skeletal member (10a) to the user's neck. A detachable member can be provided at the other end of the fixing member (11). In one embodiment, the detachable member can include Velcro. The user's convenience can be improved by adjusting the attachment position of the detachable member depending on the thickness of the user's neck.

[0047] In one embodiment, the fixing member (11) may be fixed at one end to one of a pair of cervical spine skeletons (10), and the other end may be fixed to the other of the pair of cervical spine skeletons (10) by a detachable member. In another embodiment, the fixing member (11) may be fixed at one end to a plurality of first skeleton members (10a) forming a pair. At this time, the detachable members provided on each of the fixing members (11) at the back of the neck may be brought into contact with and fixed to each other, thereby connecting and fixing the two fixing members (11) to each other.

[0048] As the fixing member (11) fixes the cervical spine skeleton (10) to the user's neck, the second connecting member (50), which serves as a fixing point during the flexion and extension process of the cervical spine when using the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1), is suppressed from being pushed forward, thereby preventing discomfort to the user caused by the forward and backward movement of the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) during exercise.

[0049] The first length adjustment member (12) can adjust the length of the cervical spine frame (10) to suit the user's body type. Referring to FIG. 2, the first length adjustment member (12) can be placed on the first frame member (10a). The first length adjustment member (12) can extend or shorten the length of the first frame member (10a). That is, the first length adjustment member (12) can adjust the length of the cervical spine frame (10) to suit the length of the user's neck. Accordingly, the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) can be used to suit the user's body type.

[0050] The chin rest (20) can move with the user and provide the user with a sense of resistance. One end of the chin rest (20) can be positioned on the user's chin when the user wears the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1). Specifically, the chin rest (20), as shown in FIG. 2, can include a first support member (20a) and a second support member (20b).

[0051] The first support member (20a) may be connected to one end of the first skeletal member (10a) whose both ends are respectively included in a pair of cervical skeletal parts (10). The first support member (20a) may be shaped to extend along the user's jawline when the user wears the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) and to be connected at the user's lower jaw.

[0052] The second support member (20b) may have one end positioned in a straight line with the first skeletal member (10a). The other end of the second support member (20b) may extend in the same direction as the direction in which the second skeletal member (10b) extends.

[0053] The first supporting member (20a) and the second supporting member (20b) can be connected at the first connecting portion (40) to be described later. The first supporting member (20a) and the second supporting member (20b) can be connected as one body and fixed to each other. In other words, the angle between the first supporting member (20a) and the second supporting member (20b) can be constant. The angle between the first supporting member (20a) and the second supporting member (20b) is not particularly limited.

[0054] The material of the chin rest (20) is not particularly limited. In one embodiment, the material of the chin rest (20) may include reinforced plastic or aluminum alloy so as to maintain its shape even under the resistance force of the resistance unit (60) described later, and at the same time improve the portability of the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1).

[0055] The chin rest (20) may further include a first fixing member (21) and a second length adjustment member (22). Referring to FIG. 1, the first fixing member (21) may be positioned in the middle of the chin rest (20). That is, the first fixing member (21) may be positioned at the end of the user's lower jaw when the user wears the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1). The first fixing member (21) may be subjected to force by the user's lower jaw when the user rotates the chin rest (20).

[0056] The first fixing member (21) may include a protective member. The protective member may be positioned on one surface of the first fixing member (21) that the user's chin comes into contact with. The protective member may include a skin-friendly material. In one embodiment, the protective member may include cotton or hydrophilic foam rubber. Accordingly, discomfort experienced by the user when using the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) may be minimized.

[0057] The second length adjustment member (22) can adjust the length of the chin rest (20) to suit the user's body type. Referring to FIG. 2, the second length adjustment member (22) can be placed on the first support member (20a). The second length adjustment member (22) can extend or shorten the length of the first support member (20a). That is, the second length adjustment member (22) can adjust the chin rest (20) to suit the length of the user's jawline. Accordingly, the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) can be used to suit the user's body type.

[0058] The sternum support (30) can serve to support the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) with the user's upper body. The sternum support (30) can be connected at both ends to one end of a first skeletal member (10a) included in each of a pair of cervical skeletal members (10). The sternum support (30) can be positioned on the user's sternum when the user wears the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1). In one embodiment, the sternum support (30) can have a V-shape, as shown in FIG. 1. The sternum support (30) can include a second fixing member (31).

[0059] The sternum support (30) may further include a cushioning member. The cushioning member may be positioned on one surface of the sternum support (30) that contacts the user's sternum. Accordingly, discomfort experienced by the user when using the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) is minimized, and the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) is stably supported, allowing the user to focus on the exercise.

[0060] Below, the principle of exercise using the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) is explained, and the first connecting part (40), the second connecting part (50), and the resistance part (60) are explained.

[0061] Fig. 3 is a schematic diagram showing the positions of the first connecting portion (40) and the second connecting portion (50) according to one embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 4 is a drawing showing the generation of resistance force of the resistance portion (60) according to the rotation of the chin support portion (20) according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0062] The first connecting portion (40), with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, may be positioned at a location where the cervical spine skeleton (10) and the chin rest (20) are connected. The first connecting portion (40) may include a rotational member (41). The rotational member (41) may enable the chin rest (20) to rotate. Specifically, the chin rest (20) may rotate around a rotational axis (R) of the rotational member (41). In one embodiment, the rotational axis (R) may be positioned between the user's cervical vertebrae 1 (C1) and cervical vertebrae 2 (C2) when the user wears the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1). The effects thereof will be described later.

[0063] The second connecting portion (50) may be positioned at a location where the cervical spine skeleton (10) and the sternum support (30) are connected, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. The second connecting portion (50) may be positioned between the user's clavicle and trapezius muscle when the user wears the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1).

[0064] Referring to FIG. 3, the user places the lower jaw on the first fixing part (21), positions the second fixing part (31) on the sternum, positions the first connecting part (40) having the rotation axis (R) between the first cervical vertebra (C1) and the second cervical vertebra (C2), and positions the second connecting part (50) between the clavicle and the trapezius muscle.

[0065] As shown in Fig. 3, the user can rotate the chin support (20) in a first direction (D) about the rotation axis (R) while fixing the lower jaw to the first fixing member (21) to decrease the first angle (a1). The first angle (a1) is the angle between the cervical spine skeleton (10) and the chin support (20). The first direction (D) refers to the direction in which the first angle (a1) decreases.

[0066] Referring to FIG. 3, the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) may include one rotation axis (R) and three fixed points. The fixed points may include a second connecting member (50), a first fixed member (21), and a second fixed member (31). The location of the rotation axis and fixed points relative to the user is important for the following reasons.

[0067] Users often find it difficult to clearly perceive muscle movement during exercise. Furthermore, users who need posture correction or are experiencing pain often use other muscles they are accustomed to using rather than the target muscles. Therefore, if users are aware of the locations of the fixed point and the axis of rotation, they can utilize this to help them engage the target muscles. In other words, if they know which fixed points should be fixed and which should be moved, and know the correct direction to move the fixed point relative to the axis of rotation, and then perform the exercise accordingly, the target muscles will be naturally engaged.

[0068] In the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1), the second connecting member (50) and the second fixing member (31) are fixed points that must be fixed during exercise. On the other hand, the first fixing member (21) is a fixed point that must be moved. At this time, when the user moves the first fixing member (21) in the first direction (D) around the rotation axis (R), the deep cervical flexor can be used.

[0069] The effect of the rotation axis (R) being located between the user's cervical vertebrae 1 (C1) and cervical vertebrae 2 (C2) is as follows. The target muscles to be strengthened by the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) are the deep cervical flexors, and among them, the upper part of the rectus anterior, capitis, and longus colli muscles, which are the upper deep cervical flexors. Considering the positions of the movement joints of the three muscles, the three muscles can be maximally activated when the rotation axis (R) is located between the user's cervical vertebrae 1 (C1) and cervical vertebrae 2 (C2).

[0070] If the axis of rotation (R) is located near the 5th or 6th cervical vertebra, muscle contraction may occur in the middle or lower part of the longissimus dorsi muscle, not the upper part of the longissimus dorsi muscle. On the other hand, if the axis of rotation (R) is located higher than the 1st cervical vertebra (C1), the length from the upper cervical vertebra where the actual movement occurs to the chin is different from the length from the axis of rotation (R) to the first fixing part (21), so the problem of the first fixing part (21) being detached from the user's chin may occur whenever the first angle (a1) changes.

[0071] To maximize muscle contraction, it is best to exercise when the muscle can generate maximum tension. A muscle can generate maximum tension when its length is midway between its maximum and minimum lengths. Wearing and using the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) allows the deep cervical flexor muscles to generate maximum tension, thereby maximizing muscle contraction in the deep cervical flexor muscles and improving exercise efficiency.

[0072] The effects of providing the second connecting portion (50) and the second fixing portion (31) with multiple fixed fixing points are as follows. The second connecting portion (50) and the second fixing portion (31) can disperse and receive the pressure generated while flexing the cervical spine, thereby alleviating the discomfort felt by the user. In addition, the second fixing portion (31) can prevent the second connecting portion (50) from being pushed backward, thereby preventing the user from feeling discomfort due to the deep cervical flexor strengthening exercise device (1) moving back and forth during exercise.

[0073] The resistance unit (60) may be positioned between the cervical spine skeleton (10) and the chin support unit (20). In one embodiment, the resistance unit (60), referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, may be positioned between the second skeletal member (10b) and the second support member (20b). The resistance unit (60) may include a resistance generating member (61) and a resistance adjusting member (62).

[0074] The resistance generating member (61), referring to FIG. 4, can generate a resistance when the distance (L) between one end of the second skeletal member (10b) and one end of the second support member (20b) is greater than the standard distance (L1). The standard distance (L1) refers to the distance between one end of the second skeletal member (10b) and one end of the second support member (20b) when no resistance is generated, as shown in (a) of FIG. 4.

[0075] In other words, the resistance generating member (61), referring to Fig. 4, can generate resistance when the first angle (a1) becomes smaller than the standard angle (a11). The standard angle (a11) refers to the first angle when no resistance is generated, as shown in (a) of Fig. 4.

[0076] That is, when the user rotates the chin rest (20) around the rotation axis (R) and the first angle (a1) decreases, a resistance force can be applied by the resistance unit (60) in the direction opposite to the rotational direction of the chin rest, i.e., the first direction (D). Accordingly, a load can be applied to the deep cervical flexor muscles that are the target of the exercise, and the strengthening of the deep cervical flexor muscles, which is the purpose of the present invention, can be achieved.

[0077] The resistance generating member (61) may, in one embodiment, include a spring as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. In another embodiment, the resistance generating member (61) may include a shape memory spring. In yet another embodiment, the resistance generating member (61) may generate resistance by hydraulic pressure.

[0078] The resistance control member (62) can control the magnitude of the resistance generated by the resistance generating member (61). That is, the resistance portion (60) can control the intensity of the resistance by the resistance control member (62). The method by which the resistance control member (62) controls the intensity of the resistance is not particularly limited. In one embodiment, as shown in FIG. 2, the resistance control member (62) can be arranged at one end of the second skeletal member (10b). By rotating the resistance control member (62), the characteristics of the resistance generating member (61) are changed, thereby controlling the intensity of the resistance generated by the resistance generating member (61).

[0079] As the resistance unit (60) adjusts the intensity of the resistance, the user can gradually increase the intensity of the load applied to the deep cervical flexor muscles, thereby enabling gradual strengthening of the deep cervical flexor muscles. In addition, since the intensity of the resistance can be adjusted depending on the degree of weakening of the user's deep cervical flexor muscles, it is possible to adjust the exercise intensity according to the user's condition.

[0080] Meanwhile, the second connecting portion (50) may include an angle adjustment member (51). The angle adjustment member (51) may adjust the second angle (a2) to suit the user's body shape. Referring to FIG. 3, the second angle (a2) refers to the angle between the cervical spine skeleton (10) and the sternum support member (30). Since each user has a different body shape, the user's convenience can be improved by adjusting the second angle (a2) to suit the user's body shape.

[0081] While the present invention has been described with reference to the embodiments illustrated in the drawings, these are merely examples. Those skilled in the art will readily appreciate that various modifications and equivalent alternative embodiments are possible based on the embodiments described herein. Therefore, the true scope of technical protection of the present invention should be determined based on the appended claims.

[0082] Specific technical details described in the embodiments are merely examples and do not limit the technical scope of the embodiments. In order to describe the invention concisely and clearly, descriptions of conventional general techniques and configurations may be omitted.
