Description

A driving board for controlling a display device included in a modular display device and a control method thereof

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a driving board for controlling a display device included in a modular display device and a control method thereof. Specifically, the present disclosure relates to a driving board for receiving image quality data from the remaining display devices included in the modular display device and a control method thereof.

[0002] Recently, various forms of display systems have been developed and distributed. In particular, advancements in display technology, driven by larger and higher-resolution displays, have led to a diversification of display device screen sizes. While previously limited display sizes were possible, recent developments have enabled the production of large-screen displays. Consequently, the use of these devices in everyday life is on the rise. In particular, modular display devices, which combine multiple display devices to provide an expanded display screen, are on the rise. For example, large-screen display devices include digital signage billboards installed in high-traffic locations such as subway stations and bus stops, which display outdoor advertisements.

[0003] Modular display devices provide convenience to users of large display devices because the size of the display screen can be flexibly expanded or reduced depending on the number of display devices and their combination relationship. In the case of modular display devices, each display device includes a driving board for controlling each display device. In this case, when the driving board is replaced due to aging or defects, a process of inputting image quality data regarding the modular display device into the new driving board is required. However, since this process is performed directly by the user, incorrect data may be input during the input process, and in particular, there is a problem of waste of time and money because the process of inputting image quality data must be repeated every time the driving board is replaced.

[0004] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a modular display device comprises a plurality of display devices, and a driving board included in the display device, the driving board includes a connector, one or more non-volatile memories, and a timing controller for controlling the light emission of a plurality of pixels included in a display module of the display device. The timing controller obtains position data of the driving board based on a signal input through the connector when the driving board boots, compares the obtained position data with position data stored in the one or more non-volatile memories, and identifies whether the driving board is newly installed in the display device, and if the driving board is identified as being newly installed in the display device, receives image quality data of the modular display device stored in the remaining display devices among the plurality of display devices through the connector, and stores the received image quality data in the one or more non-volatile memories.

[0005] The position data stored in the one or more non-volatile memories is initially set to None, and when the position data of the driving board is identified as a valid value based on a signal input through the connector, the timing controller identifies the driving board as being initially installed in the display device, and changes the position data of the driving board stored in the one or more non-volatile memories to the identified valid value.

[0006] The timing controller can identify the driving board as a first driving board connected to the remaining display device through the connector if the signal input through the connector is a low signal, and can identify the driving board as a second driving board connected to the first driving board through the connector if the signal input through the connector is a high signal.

[0007] The timing controller requests the first driving board to transmit image quality data of the modular display device to the first driving board through the connector when the driving board is identified as the second driving board, and the image quality data of the modular display device may be received by the first driving board from the remaining display device through the connector of the first driving board.

[0008] The timing controller may request that the remaining display devices transmit picture quality data of the modular display device to the remaining display devices through the connector when the driving board is identified as the first driving board of the display device.

[0009] The timing controller, when the driving board is identified as being the first installed in the display device, receives position data of the driving boards included in each of the remaining display devices from the remaining display devices through the connector, and based on each of the received position data, selects a first display device among the remaining display devices that does not request transmission of image quality data of the modular display device.

[0010] The timing controller may compare each of the received position data with position data stored in the one or more non-volatile memories to select a first display device including a first installed driving board among the remaining display devices, and may not request the selected first display device to transmit the image quality data.

[0011] Each of the plurality of display devices is assigned a different IP address, and the timing controller can request the remaining display devices to sequentially transmit position data of the driving board according to the IP address assigned to each of the display devices.

[0012] The one or more non-volatile memories include a flash memory and an EEPROM storing the position data, and the timing controller can store the received image quality data in the flash memory.

[0013] According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a method for controlling a driving board included in a display device among a plurality of display devices constituting a modular display device includes a step of acquiring position data of the driving board based on a signal input through a connector of the driving board when the driving board boots. The control method may include a step of identifying whether the driving board is installed for the first time in the display device by comparing the acquired position data with position data stored in one or more non-volatile memories of the driving board. If the control method is identified as having installed the driving board for the first time in the display device, the control method may include a step of receiving image quality data of the modular display device stored in the remaining display devices among the plurality of display devices through the connector. The control method may include a step of storing the received image quality data in the one or more non-volatile memories.

[0014] The identifying step includes a step of identifying the driving board as being initially installed in the display device and changing the position data of the driving board stored in the one or more non-volatile memories to the identified valid value when the position data of the driving board is identified as a valid value based on a signal input through the connector, and the position data stored in the one or more non-volatile memories may be set to None.

[0015] The identifying step may include a step of identifying the driving board as a first driving board connected to the remaining display device through the connector if the signal input through the connector is a low signal, and a step of identifying the driving board as a second driving board connected to the first driving board through the connector if the signal input through the connector is a high signal.

[0016] A control method according to one embodiment of the present disclosure further includes a step of requesting the first driving board to transmit image quality data of the modular display device to the first driving board through the connector when the driving board is identified as a second driving board of the display device, wherein the image quality data of the modular display device may be received by the first driving board from the remaining display device through the connector of the first driving board.

[0017] A control method according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may further include a step of requesting transmission of image quality data of the modular display device to the remaining display devices through the connector, if the driving board is identified as the first driving board of the display device.

[0018] The receiving step may include, if the driving board is identified as being first installed in the display device, a step of receiving position data of each driving board included in each of the remaining display devices from the remaining display devices through the connector, and a step of selecting a first display device that does not request to transmit image quality data of the modular display device among the remaining display devices based on each of the received position data.

[0019] The above selection step may compare each of the received position data with the position data stored in the one or more non-volatile memories to select a first display device including the first installed driving board among the remaining display devices, and may not request the selected first display device to transmit the image quality data.

[0020] The above requesting step may request that the position data of the driving board be sequentially transmitted to the remaining display devices according to the IP addresses each of the remaining display devices is assigned to.

[0021] The storing step includes storing the received image quality data in a flash memory included in the one or more non-volatile memories, and the one or more non-volatile memories may further include an EEPROM storing the position data.

[0022] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a computer-readable recording medium including a program for executing a method for controlling a driving board of a display device included in a modular display device includes a step of acquiring position data of the driving board based on a signal input through a connector of the driving board when the driving board boots. The operation may include a step of identifying whether the driving board is installed for the first time in the display device by comparing the acquired position data with position data stored in one or more non-volatile memories of the driving board. The operation may include a step of receiving image quality data of the modular display device stored in a remaining display device among the plurality of display devices through the connector if the driving board is identified as being installed for the first time in the display device. The operation may include a step of storing the received image quality data in the one or more non-volatile memories.

Each of the plurality of driver ICs may receive a driving signal from a driving board (120) (more specifically, a timing controller included in the driving board (120)) and control corresponding light-emitting elements among the plurality of light-emitting elements based on the received driving signal.

[0064] For example, each of the plurality of light-emitting elements may be at least one self-luminous element among a light-emitting diode (LED) or a micro LED. Here, a micro LED is an ultra-small light-emitting element that is about 5 to 100 micrometers in size and emits light on its own without a color filter.

[0076] Meanwhile, the driving board (120) may include a plurality of nonvolatile memories. Specifically, the driving board (120) may include a first nonvolatile memory and a second nonvolatile memory, and at this time, the first and second nonvolatile memories may be distinguished according to the type of data stored. Specifically, position data may be stored in the first nonvolatile memory, and image quality data may be stored in the second nonvolatile memory. At this time, the first nonvolatile memory that stores the position data having a relatively small data size may be implemented as an EEPROM, and the second nonvolatile memory that stores the image quality data having a relatively large data size may be implemented as a flash memory. At this time, the flash memory may include a NAND flash memory, a NOR flash memory, etc.

[0077] The timing controller (123) controls the overall operation of the display device (100) and the driving board (120). The timing controller (123) controls the light emission of a plurality of pixels included in each of the plurality of display modules (110) of the display device (100). Specifically, the timing controller (123) receives image data from the controller (200) of the modular display device (10) through the connector (121) of the driving board (120), and can control a plurality of pixels included in the plurality of display modules (110) of the display device (100) based on the received image data.

[0078] For this purpose, the timing controller (123) may be implemented as a digital signal processor (DSP), microprocessor, etc. that processes digital signals.

[0079] Fig. 6 is an exemplary diagram of a modular display device including multiple drive boards. Fig. 7 is an exemplary diagram illustrating a method for controlling a display device by multiple drive boards.

[0080] In FIGS. 6 and 7, the modular display device (10) is illustrated as including four display devices (100-1 to 100-4), but this is for the convenience of explaining the invention, and the number and arrangement of the plurality of display devices included in the modular display device (10) may be varied depending on the embodiment.

[0081] Meanwhile, each of the plurality of display devices (100) constituting the modular display device may include a plurality of driving boards. Specifically, each of the display devices (100-1 to 100-4) may include a plurality of driving boards that separately control a plurality of display modules included in each of the display devices (100-1 to 100-4). That is, a plurality of driving boards included in the same display device control different plurality of display modules among the plurality of display modules included in the display device.

[0082] Referring to FIG. 6, the first display device (100-1) may include a first driving board (120-1) and a second driving board (120-2), the second display device (100-2) may include a third driving board (120-3) and a fourth driving board (120-4), the third display device (100-3) may include a fifth driving board (120-5) and a sixth driving board (120-6), and the fourth display device (100-4) may include a seventh driving board (120-7) and an eighth driving board (120-8). At this time, the plurality of driving boards (120-1 to 120-8) included in each of the display devices (100-1 to 100-4) may separately drive or control the plurality of display modules included in each of the display devices (100-1 to 100-4).

[0083] That is, the first driving board (120-1) included in the first display device (100-1) can control four display modules arranged at the bottom of the first display device (100-1), and the second driving board (120-1) can control four display modules arranged at the top of the first display device (100-1). Similarly, the third driving board (120-3) included in the second display device (100-2) can control four display modules arranged at the bottom of the second display device (100-2), and the fourth driving board (120-4) can control four display modules arranged at the top of the second display device (100-2). In addition, the fifth driving board (120-5) included in the third display device (100-3) can control four display modules arranged at the bottom of the third display device (100-2), and the sixth driving board (120-6) can control four display modules arranged at the top of the third display device (100-3). In addition, the seventh driving board (120-7) included in the fourth display device (100-4) can control four display modules arranged at the bottom of the fourth display device (100-4), and the eighth driving board (120-8) can control four display modules arranged at the top of the fourth display device (100-4).

[0084] Referring to FIG. 7, the first driving board (120-1) included in the first display device (100-1) can be connected to the controller (200) of the modular display device (10) via the first connector (121-1) of the first driving board (120-1). Specifically, the timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can perform Ethernet communication with the controller (200) and the driving boards (120-3 to 120-8) included in other display devices (100-2 to 100-3) via an Ethernet cable (300-1) connected to the first connector (121-1) of the first driving board (120-1).

[0085] Meanwhile, the first driving board (120-1) can be connected to the second driving board (120-2) via a cable (300-2) connected to the second connector (121-2) of the first driving board (120-1). That is, the second driving board (120-2) can be connected to the first driving board (120-1) via a cable (300-2) connected to the first connector (121-3) of the second driving board (120-2). Accordingly, the timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2) can perform Ethernet communication with the timing controllers (123-3 to 123-8) of the driving boards (120-3 to 120-8) included in the controller (200) and other display devices (100-2 to 100-3) via the first driving board (120-1). This can be equally applied to the plurality of driving boards (120-3 to 120-8) included in each of the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4).

[0086] Meanwhile, the first driving board (120-1) may be referred to as a primary driving board in that it performs direct Ethernet communication with the controller (200) of the modular display device (10) and the driving boards included in other display devices (i.e., the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4)). On the other hand, the second driving board (120-2) may be referred to as a secondary driving board in that it indirectly performs Ethernet communication with the controller (200) of the modular display device (10) and the driving boards included in other display devices (i.e., the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4)) through the first driving board (120-1).

[0087] That is, in the four display devices (100-1 to 100-4) illustrated in FIG. 7, the first driving board (120-1), the third driving board (120-3), the fifth driving board (120-5), and the seventh driving board (120-7) may be the primary driving boards of the respective display devices (100-1 to 100-4), and the second driving board (120-2), the fourth driving board (120-4), the sixth driving board (120-6), and the eighth driving board (120-8) may be the secondary driving boards of the respective display devices (100-1 to 100-4).

[0088] Meanwhile, when the driving board (120) is newly installed in the display device (100), the timing controller (123) can obtain the image quality data required to control the light emission of the plurality of pixels (more specifically, the plurality of light-emitting elements each corresponding to the plurality of pixels) included in the display module (110) from another driving board. That is, when the driving board (120) is newly installed in the display device (100), the image quality data is not stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122). Alternatively, the driving board (120) may store basic image quality data. Here, the basic image quality data is compensation data for initially performing image quality compensation of the display device (100), and may be compensation data that is set without considering the characteristics of the modular display device (10) (specifically, the characteristics of the plurality of display devices (100) included in the modular display device (10) (for example, the number of the plurality of display devices, the arrangement type, etc.)). This is different from the image quality data stored in one or more non-volatile memories of other previously installed drive boards.

[0089] That is, when the driving board (120) is newly installed in the display device (100), image quality data set to reflect the characteristics of the modular display device is not stored in one or more inactive memories (122) of the driving board (120).

[0090] At this time, since the image quality data is applied equally to each driving board included in multiple display devices, it may be stored in one or more non-volatile memories of other driving boards. Accordingly, the timing controller (123) can obtain the image quality data stored in other driving boards (more specifically, stored in the non-volatile memory of other driving boards). To this end, the timing controller (123) must first identify whether the driving board (120) is newly installed in the display device (100). Hereinafter, an embodiment related to this will be described.

[0091] Figure 8 is a flowchart schematically illustrating a method for controlling a driving board according to one embodiment.

[0092] Referring to FIG. 8, the timing controller (123) can obtain location (position) data of the driving board (120) based on a signal input through the connector (121) when the driving board (120) is booted (S810).

[0093] Specifically, the timing controller (123) can boot the driving board (120). For example, the timing controller (123) can perform booting of the driving board (120) using the O / S stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122). To this end, a command set for booting the driving board (120) can be stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122). When power is supplied to the driving board (120), the timing controller (123) can execute the O / S according to the commands stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122) to boot the driving board (120).

[0094] And, as the driving board (120) boots up, the timing controller (123) boots up and detects a signal input to the timing controller (123). In particular, the timing controller (123) can detect a signal input through any one of a plurality of terminals (or pins) included in the timing controller (123). For example, the timing controller (123) can detect a voltage level (or voltage value) input through a GPIO terminal included in the timing controller (123). At this time, the voltage level input through the GPIO terminal may differ depending on the device (or cable) to which the driving board (120) is connected through the connector (121).

[0095] At this time, the timing controller (123) can detect different voltage levels through the GPIO terminal depending on whether the driving board (120) is connected to another driving board through the connector (121). More specifically, the GPIO terminal of the timing controller (123) can be electrically connected to the connector (121). For example, the GPIO terminal of the timing controller (123) can be electrically connected to the connector (121) through a wire connecting the GPIO terminal of the timing controller (123) and a specific pin included in the connector (121).

[0096] In particular, when the driving board (120) includes a plurality of connectors, the GPIO terminal of the timing controller (123) can be electrically connected to any one of the plurality of connectors, and a different voltage level or a different type of signal can be input to the GPIO terminal depending on whether the driving board (120) is connected to another driving board through the electrically connected connector. Hereinafter, among the plurality of connectors included in the driving board (120), a connector (121) that is electrically connected to the GPIO terminal of the timing controller (123) is referred to as a second connector (121-2), and among the plurality of connectors, a connector (121) that is not electrically connected to the GPIO terminal of the timing controller (123) is referred to as a first connector (121-1).

[0097] For example, when the driving board (120) is connected to another driving board of the modular display device (10) through the second connector (121-2), the voltage level input (or applied) to the GPIO terminal through the second connector (121-2) may be 0 V. At this time, the timing controller (123) may identify that the signal input to the GPIO terminal (or the signal input to the GPIO terminal through the second connector (121-2)) is a low level (e.g., logic low).

[0098] On the other hand, if the driving board (120) is not connected to another driving board through the second connector (121), the voltage level input (or applied) to the GPIO terminal through the second connector (121-2) may be 3.3 V. At this time, the timing controller (123) may identify that the signal input to the GPIO terminal (or the signal input to the GPIO terminal through the second connector (121-2)) is a high level (e.g., logic high). Meanwhile, the value of the voltage level may be set to various values other than 3.3 V, as long as the two voltage levels can be distinguished as relatively low and high.

[0099] Referring to FIG. 7, the first driving board (120-1) included in the first display device (100-1) is connected to the second driving board (120-2) by connecting the cable (300-2) connected to the second connector (121-2) of the first driving board (120-1) to the first connector (121-3) of the second driving board (120-2). Specifically, the GPIO terminal of the timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) included in the first display device (100-1) can be electrically connected to the GND pin included in the first connector (121-3) of the second driving board (120-2) via the second connector (121-2) of the first driving board (120-1). That is, the GPIO terminal of the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can be connected to GND. Therefore, a voltage of 0 V can be input to the GPIO terminal of the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1). Accordingly, the timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can identify the signal input to the GPIO terminal of the first timing controller (123-1) through the second connector (121-2) of the first driving board (120-1) as a low level. This may also be the same for the third driving board (120-3), the fifth driving board (120-5), and the seventh driving board (120-7) included in the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4), respectively.

[0100] On the other hand, in the case of the second driving board (120-2) included in the first display device (100-1), the second driving board (120-2) is not connected to another driving board through the second connector (121-4). Therefore, no electrical connection is made at the GPIO terminal of the timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2). That is, the GPIO terminal of the timing controller (123-2) is not connected to GND. Therefore, a voltage of 3.3 V can be input to the GPIO terminal of the second timing controller (123-2) through the second connector (121-4) of the second driving board (120-2), and the second timing controller (123-2) can identify the signal input through the GIPO terminal as a high level. This may also be the case for the fourth driving board (120-4), the sixth driving board (120-6), and the eighth driving board (120-8) included in the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4), respectively.

[0101] Meanwhile, the timing controller (123) can obtain position data of the driving board (120) based on a signal input to the GPIO terminal through the connector (121). The position data may be data used to identify whether the driving board (120) is newly installed in the display device (100). In addition, the position data may be data used to identify the position of the driving board (120) within the display device (100). When the signal input to the GPIO terminal through the connector (121) is a low level, the timing controller (123) can identify that the driving board (120) is the Primary driving board and obtain position data corresponding to the Primary driving board. For example, the timing controller (123) can obtain the position data as a "Primary" value. On the other hand, if the signal input to the GPIO terminal through the connector (121) is at a high level, the timing controller (123) can identify that the driving board (120) is a secondary driving board and obtain position data corresponding to the secondary driving board. For example, the timing controller (123) can obtain the position data as a "Secondary" value. The position data can be regarded as a position flag having a "primary" or "secondary" value indicating that it is a primary driving board or a secondary driving board.

[0102] Specifically, referring to FIG. 7, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) included in the first display device (100-1) can detect a low-level signal input to the GPIO terminal through the second connector (121-2) of the first driving board (120-1) as the GPIO terminal of the first timing controller (123-1) is connected to GND through the second connector (121-2). In addition, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can obtain the position data of "Primary".

[0103] On the other hand, the second timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2) included in the first display device (100-1) can detect a high-level signal input to the GPIO terminal through the second connector (121-4) of the second driving board (120-2) since the GPIO terminal of the second timing controller (123-2) is not connected to GND through the second connector (121-4). In addition, the second timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2) can obtain the position data of "Secondary".

[0104] Meanwhile, after acquiring location data (S810), the timing controller (123) can compare the acquired location data with location data stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122) to identify whether the driving board (120) is newly installed in the display device (100) (S820).

[0105] Specifically, the timing controller (123) can compare the acquired position data with the position data stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122). For example, the position data may be stored in an EEPROM included in one or more non-volatile memories (122), and the timing controller (123) can extract the position data stored in the EEPROM and compare the extracted position data with the acquired position data. Then, if the timing controller (123) determines that the position data stored in the EEPROM and the acquired position data are different, the timing controller (123) identifies the driving board (120) as being newly installed in the display device (100).

[0106] For example, the position data stored in at least one non-volatile memory (122) may be initially set to a value of 'None', i.e., 'None' indicating that there is no valid position data or that the position data has not been set. Accordingly, if the position data of the driving board (120) is confirmed to be a valid value, or an acknowledged or allowed value, based on a signal input to the GPIO terminal through the connector (121), the timing controller (123) may identify that the driving board (120) is newly installed in the display device (100) due to the difference between the stored position data and the acquired position data. For example, in an embodiment, the position data or flag may have a value of 'Primary', 'Secondary', or 'None', where 'Primary' and 'Secondary' are valid / acknowledged / allowed values and 'None' indicates that there is no position data. It will be understood by a person skilled in the art that the position data is not limited thereto and may change depending on the configuration of the driving board. Additionally, other flag data / values can be used to indicate whether the drive board is a Primary Board or a Secondary Board.

[0107] For example, the timing controller (123) can identify that the drive board (120) is newly installed in the display device (100) if the position data extracted from one or more non-volatile memories (122) is a None value and the acquired position data is a value of Primary or Secondary. Accordingly, the timing controller (123) can identify that the drive board (120) is not newly installed in the display device (100) if the position data extracted from one or more non-volatile memories (122) is a valid value (i.e., indicates Primary or Secondary).

[0108] Referring to FIG. 7, when the first driving board (120-1) of the first display device (100-1) is newly installed in the first display device (100-1), the position data stored in the EEPROM (122-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may be a None value, i.e., a value indicating 'None'. At this time, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may obtain the position data of "Primary" based on a signal input to the GPIO terminal through the second connector (121-2) of the first driving board (120-1). In addition, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may compare the stored position data (None value) with the obtained position data ("Primary"), and identify that the obtained position data ("Primary") is different from the stored position data. And, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) identifies that the first driving board (120-1) is newly installed in the first display device (100-1). At this time, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can receive Ethernet IP address information of the first display device (100-1) based on the Ethernet IP protocol from the controller (200) of the modular display device (10), and can identify that the display device (100) in which the first driving board (120-1) is installed is the first display device (100-1) based on the received IP address information.

[0109] Meanwhile, when the second driving board (120-2) of the first display device (100-1) is newly installed, the position data stored in the EEPROM (122-3) of the second driving board (120-2) is a None value. At this time, the second timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2) can obtain the position data of "Secondary" based on the signal input to the GPIO terminal through the second connector (121-4) of the second driving board (120-2). Then, the second timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2) compares the stored position data (None value) with the obtained position data ("Secondary") to identify that the obtained position data ("Secondary") is different from the stored position data. And, the second timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2) can identify that the second driving board (120-2) is newly installed in the first display device (100-1). At this time, the second timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2) can receive Ethernet IP address information of the first display device (100-1) from the first driving board (120-1), and can identify that the display device (100) in which the second driving board (120-2) is installed is the first display device (100-1) based on the received IP address information.

[0110] Meanwhile, the timing controller (123) can change the position data of the driving board (120) stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122) using the acquired position data.

[0111] That is, when the timing controller (123) identifies that the driving board (120) is newly installed in the display device (100), it changes the value (None) of the position data stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122) to a valid value (Primary or Secondary) of the position data. Accordingly, the timing controller (123) can identify that the driving board (120) was previously installed in the display device (100) (not newly installed) based on the position data having a valid value stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122) when the driving board (120) is booted thereafter.

[0112] Meanwhile, when the driving board (120) is identified as newly installed in the display device (100), the timing controller (123) can receive image quality data of the modular display device (10) stored in another (remaining) display device among the plurality of display devices included in the modular display device (10) through the connector (121) (S830).

[0113] Specifically, when the timing controller (123) identifies that the driving board (120) is newly installed in the display device (100), it may request the remaining display devices (or any one of the remaining display devices) to transmit image quality data necessary for driving the plurality of display modules (110) (or the plurality of light-emitting elements corresponding to the plurality of pixels included in the plurality of display modules (110). Here, the remaining display device may be at least one display device excluding the display device including the newly installed driving board among the plurality of display devices included in the modular display device (10).

[0114] For example, referring to FIG. 7, if the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) identifies that the first driving board (120-1) is newly installed in the first display device (100-1), it may request transmission of image quality data to the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4). Specifically, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may request transmission of image quality data to the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4) via an Ethernet communication cable (300-1).

[0115] At this time, the timing controller (123) may request that the remaining display devices (or any one of the remaining display devices) transmit the picture quality data of the modular display device to the remaining display devices (or any one of the remaining display devices) through the connector (121) if the driving board (120) is identified as the primary driving board of the display device (100).

[0116] Specifically, referring to FIG. 7, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can identify that the first driving board (120-1) is the primary driving board of the first display device (100-1) based on a low-level signal input to the GPIO terminal through the second connector (121-2). At this time, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can request transmission of image quality data to the driving boards (i.e., the third to eighth driving boards (120-3 to 120-8)) included in the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4) connected through the first connector (121-1). In particular, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may request transmission of image quality data to the primary driving boards (120-3, 120-5, and 120-7) included in the second to fourth display devices, respectively. In addition, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may also request transmission of image quality data to the second driving board (120-2) installed in the same first display device (100-1) via the second connector (121-2) of the first driving board (120-1). At this time, the second timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2) can transmit the image quality data stored in the flash memory (122-4) of the second driving board (120-2) to the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) through the first connector (121-3) of the second driving board (120-2).

[0117] Meanwhile, if the driving board (120) is identified as the secondary driving board, the timing controller (123) may request the primary driving board to transmit image quality data of the modular display device (10) to the primary driving board via the connector (121). At this time, the image quality data of the modular display device (10) may be received by the primary driving board from the remaining display devices via the connector of the primary driving board.

[0118] Specifically, referring to FIG. 7, the second timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2) can identify that the second driving board (120-2) is a secondary driving board of the first display device (100-1) based on a high-level signal input to the GPIO terminal through the second connector (121-4). At this time, the second timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2) can request that the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) connected through the first connector (121-3) transmit image quality data.

[0119] At this time, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can transmit the image quality data stored in the flash memory (122-2) of the first driving board (120-1) to the second timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2) through the second connector (121-2) of the first driving board (120-1). Alternatively, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can request the transmission of image quality data to the driving boards (i.e., the third to eighth driving boards (120-3 to 120-8)) included in the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4) through the first connector (121-1) of the first driving board (120-1).

[0120] In particular, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can request the transmission of image quality data to the primary driving boards (120-3, 120-5, and 120-7) included in the second to fourth display devices, respectively. In addition, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can transmit image quality data received from the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4) to the second timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2). Accordingly, the second timing controller (123-2) of the second driving board (120-2) can receive image quality data from the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) via the first connector (121-3) of the second driving board (120-2).

[0121] Meanwhile, when the timing controller (123) identifies that the driving board (120) is newly installed in the display device (100), it can receive position data of the driving boards included in each of the remaining display devices from the remaining display devices through the connector (121).

[0122] Specifically, when the timing controller (123) identifies that the driving board (120) is newly installed in the display device (100), the timing controller (123) may request the timing controller of each driving board included in each of the remaining display devices to transmit position data stored in one or more non-volatile memories of each driving board to the timing controller of each driving board included in each of the remaining display devices through the connector (121). In addition, the timing controller (123) may receive position data from the timing controller of each driving board included in each of the remaining display devices through the connector (121). Meanwhile, the position data may include IP address information of the display device on which each driving board is installed.

[0123] For example, referring to FIG. 7, when the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) identifies that the first driving board (120-1) is newly installed in the first display device (100-1), before requesting the timing controller (i.e., the third to eighth timing controllers (123-3 to 123-8)) of the driving boards (i.e., the third to eighth driving boards (120-3 to 120-8)) included in the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4) to transmit image quality data, the timing controller (i.e., the third to eighth timing controllers (123-3 to 123-8)) of the driving boards (i.e., the third to eighth driving boards (120-3 to 120-8)) included in the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4) respectively, The position data stored in the EEPROM of the boards (120-3 to 120-8) may be requested to be transmitted. At this time, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may request to transmit the position data only to the timing controllers (i.e., the third, fifth, and seventh timing controllers (123-3, 123-5, and 123-7)) of the primary driving boards (i.e., the third, fifth, and seventh driving boards (120-3, 120-5, and 120-7)) included in the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4).

[0124] However, it is not limited thereto, and the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may request the timing controller (i.e., the third, fifth and seventh timing controllers (123-3, 123-5 and 123-7)) of the Primary driving board (i.e., the third, fifth and seventh driving boards (120-3, 120-5 and 120-7)) included in the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4) to transmit position data to the timing controller (i.e., the fourth, sixth and eighth timing controllers (123-4, 123-6 and 123-8)) of the Secondary driving board (i.e., the fourth, sixth and eighth driving boards (120-4, 120-6 and 120-8)) included in the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4) through the timing controller (i.e., the third, fifth and seventh timing controllers (123-3, 123-5 and 123-7)) there is.

[0125] And, based on each received position data, the timing controller (123) can select a display device among the remaining display devices that will not request transmission of image quality data of the modular display device (10).

[0126] Specifically, when an error is detected in each received position data or a driving board that has not received position data is identified, the timing controller (123) does not request the timing controller of the corresponding driving board to transmit image quality data. This is because, when an error is detected in the position data received from the timing controller of a specific driving board, an error may also be included in the image quality data received by the timing controller (123). In addition, when the position data is not received from the timing controller of a specific driving board, image quality data may also not be transmitted.

[0127] In particular, the timing controller (123) can compare each received position data with position data stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122) to select a display device including a newly installed driving board among the remaining display devices. In addition, the timing controller may not request the selected display device to transmit image quality data.

[0128] Specifically, the timing controller (123) can compare position data received from each driving board included in the remaining display devices with position data stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122). At this time, the position data stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122) may be position data that has been changed to a valid value as the driving board is identified as being newly installed in the display device.

[0129] For example, referring to FIG. 7, if the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) identifies that the first driving board (120-1) is newly installed in the first display device (100-1), the position data stored in the EEPROM (122-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may be a “Primary” value changed from the None value.

[0130] In addition, the timing controller (123) can compare the position data received from the remaining display devices (more specifically, the position data received from each driving board included in the remaining display devices) with the position data stored in one or more non-volatile memories (122) to select a display device including a newly installed driving board among the remaining display devices.

[0131] Specifically, the timing controller (123) can select a driving board newly installed in a display device (i.e., one of the remaining display devices) among each driving board included in the remaining display devices.

[0132] For example, referring to FIG. 7, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can compare position data received from the timing controllers (i.e., the third to eighth timing controllers (123-3 to 123-8)) of the plurality of driving boards (i.e., the third to eighth driving boards (120-3 to 120-8)) included in the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4) with position data (“Primary”) stored in the EEPROM (122-1) of the first driving board (120-1). And, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can identify a driving board that is newly installed in the display device (any one of the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4)) among the plurality of driving boards (i.e., the third to eighth driving boards (120-3 to 120-8)). In particular, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can identify a driving board of a timing controller that has transmitted position data of a “None” value as a driving board that is newly installed in the display device (any one of the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4)). To this end, the position data received by the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may include IP address information of the display devices (the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4)) on which each driving board (the third to eighth driving boards (120-3 to 120-8)) is installed. At this time, if the position data transmitted by the fifth timing controller (123-5) of the fifth driving board (120-5) included in the third display device (100-3) (i.e., the position data stored in the EEPROM (122-9) of the fifth driving board (120-5)) is identified as having a None value, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can identify that the fifth driving board (120-5) is newly installed in the third display device (100-3).

[0133] And, the timing controller (123) does not request the display device including the newly installed driving board to transmit the image quality data. Specifically, since the image quality data may not be stored in one or more non-volatile memories of the newly installed driving board in the display device, the timing controller (123) does not request the timing controller of the newly installed driving board to transmit the image quality data. To explain again with the above-described example, if the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) identifies that the fifth driving board (120-5) is newly installed in the third display device (100-3), it does not request the fifth driving board (120-5) to transmit the image quality data.

[0134] Meanwhile, the timing controller (123) may request that the remaining display devices sequentially transmit position data of the drive board based on the IP address assigned to each display device. For example, different IP addresses may be assigned to each of the multiple display devices. Accordingly, the timing controller (123) may request that the remaining display devices sequentially transmit position data based on the assigned IP addresses of the remaining display devices.

[0135] Specifically, the timing controller (123) can set the order of requesting position data based on the IP addresses set for the remaining display devices. Then, the timing controller (123) can request that the position data be transmitted to the timing controllers of the plurality of driving boards included in each of the remaining display devices according to the set order of requests.

[0136] At this time, the timing controller (123) may request to transmit position data to the timing controller of a plurality of driving boards included in another display device in the next order of the specific display device if the received position data has a None value or if at least one driving board included in a specific display device (i.e., any one of the remaining display devices) is identified as newly installed based on the received position data. On the other hand, the timing controller (123) may receive image quality data from at least one driving board among the plurality of driving boards included in a specific display device (i.e., any one of the remaining display devices) if the received position data has a valid value ("Primary" or "Secondary") or if at least one driving board included in a specific display device (i.e., any one of the remaining display devices) is identified as previously installed based on the received position data.

[0137] For example, referring to FIG. 7, if the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) identifies that the first driving board (120-1) is newly installed in the first display device (100-1), the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may set the order of requesting location data in the order of the second display device (100-2) to the fourth display device (100-4) based on the IP addresses assigned to the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4). Accordingly, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may request the third and fourth timing controllers (120-3 and 120-4) of the third and fourth driving boards (120-3 and 120-4) included in the second display device (100-2) to transmit location data. And, if the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) identifies that any one of the third and fourth driving boards (120-3 and 120-4) is newly installed in the second display device (100-2), it does not request the third and fourth timing controllers (123-3 and 123-4) of the third and fourth driving boards (120-3 and 120-4) to transmit image quality data.

[0138] And, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may request the fifth and sixth timing controllers (123-5 and 123-6) of the fifth and sixth driving boards (120-5 and 120-6) included in the third display device (100-3) in the next order to transmit position data. Meanwhile, if the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) identifies that both the third and fourth driving boards (120-3 and 120-4) have been previously installed in the second display device (100-2), the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) may request the third and fourth timing controllers (123-3 and 123-4) of the third and fourth driving boards (120-3 and 120-4) to transmit image quality data.

[0139] Meanwhile, in the above-described embodiment, it has been described that the timing controller (123) does not request transmission of image quality data if at least one of the plurality of driving boards included in any one of the remaining display devices is identified as newly installed, but this is not limited thereto. That is, if the timing controller identifies that any one of the plurality of driving boards included in any one of the remaining display devices is previously installed in the display device, the timing controller (123) may request transmission of image quality data to the timing controller of any one of the driving boards identified as previously installed.

[0140] Meanwhile, the request order of location data set based on the IP address can be set in the order of the Primary driving board and the Secondary driving board even within the same display device. That is, referring to FIG. 7, the request order of location data can be subdivided into the order of the third timing controller (123-3) of the third driving board (120-3) of the second display device (100-2), and the timing controller (123-4) of the fourth driving board (120-4) of the second display device (100-2).

[0141] Meanwhile, the timing controller (123) may store the image quality data received from the remaining display devices in one or more non-volatile memories (122) (S840). Specifically, the timing controller (123) may store the image quality data received from the timing controllers of the driving boards included in each of the remaining display devices in one or more non-volatile memories (122) and then use the stored image quality data to control the display modules of the display devices. For example, the timing controller (123) may store the received image quality data in a flash memory included in one or more memories (122).

[0142] For example, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can store image quality data received from the driving boards of the second to fourth display devices (100-2 to 100-4) (i.e., the timing controllers of the third to eighth driving boards (120-3 to 120-8) (i.e., the third to eighth timing controllers (123-3 to 123-8)) in the flash memory (122-2) of the first driving board (120-1). In addition, the first timing controller (123-1) of the first driving board (120-1) can correct or control the gradation, brightness, etc. output from the plurality of pixels (and the plurality of light-emitting elements corresponding to the plurality of pixels) included in the plurality of display modules corresponding to the first driving board (120-1) based on the image quality data stored in the flash memory (122-2).
