Abstract
Description
Method and device for reporting measurements on a serving cell in a next-generation mobile communication system
[0001] The present disclosure relates to the operation of a terminal and a base station in a mobile communication system. In addition, the present disclosure relates to a method and device for reporting measurements for a frequency (FR) 2 serving cell according to an SCell (secondary cell) activation instruction in a next-generation mobile communication system.
[0002] 5G mobile communication technology defines a wide frequency band to enable fast transmission speeds and new services, and can be implemented not only in the sub-6GHz frequency band such as 3.5 gigahertz (3.5GHz), but also in the ultra-high frequency band called millimeter wave (mmWave) such as 28GHz and 39GHz ('Above 6GHz'). In addition, for 6G mobile communication technology, which is called the system after 5G communication (Beyond 5G), implementation in the terahertz band (for example, the 3 terahertz (3THz) band at 95GHz) is being considered to achieve a transmission speed that is 50 times faster than 5G mobile communication technology and an ultra-low latency time that is reduced to one-tenth.
[0003] In the early stages of 5G mobile communication technology, the goal is to support services and satisfy performance requirements for enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications (URLLC), and massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC). These include beamforming and massive MIMO to mitigate path loss of radio waves in ultra-high frequency bands and increase the transmission distance of radio waves, support for various numerologies (such as operation of multiple subcarrier intervals) and dynamic operation of slot formats for efficient use of ultra-high frequency resources, initial access technology to support multi-beam transmission and wideband, definition and operation of BWP (Bidth Part), new channel coding methods such as LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) codes for large-capacity data transmission and Polar Code for reliable transmission of control information, and L2 pre-processing (L2). Standardization has been made for network slicing, which provides dedicated networks specialized for specific services, and pre-processing.
[0004] Currently, discussions are underway to improve and enhance the initial 5G mobile communication technology in consideration of the services that 5G mobile communication technology was intended to support, and physical layer standardization is in progress for technologies such as V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) to help autonomous vehicles make driving decisions and increase user convenience based on their own location and status information transmitted by vehicles, NR-U (New Radio Unlicensed) for the purpose of system operation that complies with various regulatory requirements in unlicensed bands, NR terminal low power consumption technology (UE Power Saving), Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN), which is direct terminal-satellite communication to secure coverage in areas where communication with terrestrial networks is impossible, and Positioning.
[0005] In addition, standardization of wireless interface architecture / protocols is in progress for technologies such as intelligent factories (Industrial Internet of Things, IIoT) to support new services through linkage and convergence with other industries, Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) that provides nodes for expanding network service areas by integrating wireless backhaul links and access links, Mobility Enhancement technology including Conditional Handover and Dual Active Protocol Stack (DAPS) handover, and 2-step random access (2-step RACH for NR) that simplifies random access procedures. Standardization is also in progress for system architecture / services such as 5G baseline architecture (e.g., Service-based Architecture, Service-based Interface) for grafting Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies, and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) that provides services based on the location of the terminal.
[0006] Once these 5G mobile communication systems are commercialized, an explosive increase in connected devices will be connected to the communication network, necessitating enhanced functionality and performance of 5G mobile communication systems and integrated operation of these connected devices. To this end, new research will be conducted on improving 5G performance and reducing complexity, supporting AI services, supporting metaverse services, and drone communications by utilizing eXtended Reality (XR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML) to efficiently support Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR).
[0007] In addition, the development of these 5G mobile communication systems includes new waveforms to ensure coverage in the terahertz band of 6G mobile communication technology, multi-antenna transmission technologies such as Full Dimensional MIMO (FD-MIMO), Array Antenna, and Large Scale Antenna, metamaterial-based lenses and antennas to improve the coverage of terahertz band signals, high-dimensional spatial multiplexing technology using Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM), Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) technology, as well as full duplex technology to improve the frequency efficiency and system network of 6G mobile communication technology, satellite, AI (Artificial Intelligence) from the design stage and AI-based communication technology that realizes system optimization by internalizing end-to-end AI support functions, and ultra-high-performance communication and computing resources to provide services with complexity that exceeds the limits of terminal computing capabilities. It can serve as a basis for the development of next-generation distributed computing technologies that can be realized by utilizing them.
[0008] When a base station requires a UE to apply carrier aggregation (CA) to an FR2 SCell, it can activate a specific FR2 SCell without receiving a Layer 3 measurement report from the UE. However, in this case, efficient communication link management may become difficult in the future because the channel performance of the corresponding cell is unknown. To address this issue, the present disclosure proposes a method for simultaneously triggering a Layer 3 measurement report for an unknown FR2 SCell when instructing the UE to activate the corresponding cell, thereby improving communication efficiency.
[0009] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a method of a terminal in a wireless communication system is provided, the method comprising: transmitting terminal performance information including information related to a measurement report for an unknown SCell (secondary cell) to a base station; receiving an RRC message including a measurement report configuration from the base station; receiving a MAC CE (medium access control control element) indicating activation of at least one SCell from the base station; and transmitting a measurement report including a measurement result of the unknown SCell to the base station if an unknown SCell is included among the at least one SCell and information for a measurement report of the unknown SCell is set in the measurement report configuration.

[0011] In addition, according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a terminal of a wireless communication system is provided, comprising: a transceiver; and a control unit, wherein the control unit transmits terminal performance information including information related to a measurement report for an unknown SCell (secondary cell) to a base station, receives an RRC message including a measurement report configuration from the base station, receives a MAC CE (medium access control control element) indicating activation of at least one SCell from the base station, and, if an unknown SCell is included among the at least one SCell and information for a measurement report of the unknown SCell is set in the measurement report configuration, a terminal is provided characterized in that it controls to transmit a measurement report including a measurement result of the unknown SCell to the base station.
[0012] In addition, according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a base station of a wireless communication system is provided, including a transceiver and a control unit, wherein the control unit receives terminal performance information including information related to a measurement report for an unknown SCell (secondary cell) from a terminal, transmits an RRC message including a measurement report setting to the terminal based on the terminal performance information, transmits a MAC CE (medium access control control element) indicating activation of at least one SCell to the terminal, and if an unknown SCell is included among the at least one SCell and information for a measurement report of the unknown SCell is set in the measurement report setting, the base station is characterized in that it controls to receive a measurement report including a measurement result of the unknown SCell from the terminal.

[0035] Hereinafter, the base station is an entity that performs resource allocation of a terminal, and may be at least one of a Node B, a BS (Base Station), an eNB (eNode B), a gNB (gNode B), a wireless access unit, a base station controller, or a node on a network. The terminal may include a UE (User Equipment), an MS (Mobile Station), a cellular phone, a smartphone, a computer, or a multimedia system capable of performing a communication function. In addition, the embodiments of the present disclosure may be applied to other communication systems having a similar technical background or channel type to the embodiments of the present disclosure described below. In addition, the embodiments of the present disclosure may be applied to other communication systems with some modifications without significantly departing from the scope of the present disclosure at the discretion of a person having skilled technical knowledge. For example, the 5th generation mobile communication technology (5G, new radio, NR) developed after LTE-A may be included here, and the 5G below may also be a concept that includes existing LTE, LTE-A, and other similar services. In addition, the present disclosure may be applied to other communication systems through some modifications within a scope that does not significantly deviate from the scope of the present disclosure, as judged by a person having skilled technical knowledge.
[0036] In the following description, terms used to identify connection nodes, terms referring to network entities or network functions (NFs), terms referring to messages, terms referring to interfaces between network objects, terms referring to various identification information, etc. are examples provided for convenience of explanation. Therefore, the present invention is not limited to the terms described below, and other terms referring to objects having equivalent technical meanings may be used.
[0037] For convenience of explanation below, some terms and names defined in the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) LTE (long term evolution) standard and / or 3GPP NR (new radio) standard may be used. However, the present invention is not limited to the above terms and names, and can be equally applied to systems conforming to other standards.
[0038] In the present disclosure, FR1 and FR2 may be concepts that distinguish different frequency ranges. The frequency range of FR2 is a higher frequency range than that of FR1, and FR2 may be a frequency in the mmWave range. For example, FR 1 may be a frequency range of 410 MHz to 7125 MHz, and FR2 may be a frequency range of 24250 MHz to 71000 MHz.
[0039] In the present disclosure, L3 measurement may refer to layer 3 measurement. Here, layer 3 measurement does not mean reporting the measurement result (layer 1 measurement) of the downlink reference signal itself, but rather determining the measurement value as a filtered value, for example, the weighted average of the previous reference signal and the current reference signal. This prevents the measurement value from having a large deviation depending on the instantaneous measurement result and has the effect of averaging over time. In addition, although expressions such as L3 measurement and L3 measurement result are used for convenience of explanation in various embodiments of the present disclosure, it is not limited thereto, and it should be noted that terms such as measurement result and measurement information having the characteristics of L3 measurement described above may also be used.
[0040] Additionally, in the present disclosure, L1 / L2-based mobility support is used interchangeably with L1 / L2 handover, L1 / L2 triggered mobility (LTM), L1 / L2 triggered mobility, etc. In the present disclosure, L1, L2, and L3 mean layer 1, layer 2, and layer 3, respectively.
[0041] FIG. 1 is a diagram illustrating the structure of a next-generation mobile communication system to which various embodiments of the present disclosure are applied.
[0042] Referring to FIG. 1, as illustrated, a wireless access network of a next-generation mobile communication system is composed of a next-generation base station (New Radio Node B, hereinafter referred to as NR NB, 1-10) and a New Radio Core Network (NR CN, or NG CN: Next Generation Core Network, 1-05). A user terminal (New Radio User Equipment, hereinafter referred to as NR UE or terminal, 1-15) accesses an external network through the NR NB (1-10) and the NR CN (1-05). In various embodiments of the present disclosure, NR NB and NR gNB are used as the same concept.
[0043] In Fig. 1, NR NB (1-10) corresponds to the eNB (Evolved Node B) of the existing LTE system. NR NB is connected to NR UE (1-15) via a wireless channel and can provide superior service than the existing Node B. In the next-generation mobile communication system, all user traffic is serviced through a shared channel, so a device that collects status information such as buffer status, available transmission power status, and channel status of UEs and performs scheduling is required, and the NR NB (1-10) is in charge of this. One NR NB typically controls multiple cells. In order to implement ultra-high-speed data transmission compared to the existing LTE, it can have a bandwidth higher than the existing maximum, and beamforming technology can be additionally grafted using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) as a wireless access technology. In addition, it applies the Adaptive Modulation & Coding (AMC) method that determines the modulation scheme and channel coding rate according to the channel status of the terminal. NR CN (1-05) performs functions such as mobility support, bearer setup, and QoS (quality of service) setup. NR CN (1-05) is a device that is responsible for various control functions as well as mobility management for the terminal and is connected to multiple base stations. In addition, the next-generation mobile communication system can also be linked with the existing LTE system, and NR CN (1-05) is connected to MME (1-25) through a network interface. MME (1-25) is connected to eNB (1-30), which is an existing base station.

In addition, the RLC PDUs may be processed in the order they are received (in the order of arrival, regardless of the order of the sequence number) and delivered to the PDCP device out of sequence (out-of-sequence delivery). In the case of segments, the segments stored in the buffer or to be received later may be received, reconstructed into a single complete RLC PDU, processed, and then delivered to the PDCP device.The above NR RLC layer may not include a concatenation function, and the function may be performed in the NR MAC layer or replaced with a multiplexing function of the NR MAC layer.

[0087] The NR PHY layer (2-20, 2-25) can perform operations such as channel coding and modulating upper layer data, converting it into OFDM symbols and transmitting it through a wireless channel, or demodulating and channel decoding OFDM symbols received through a wireless channel and transmitting them to a higher layer.
[0088] FIG. 3 is a diagram illustrating the structure of another next-generation mobile communication system to which various embodiments of the present disclosure can be applied.
[0089] Referring to FIG. 3, a cell served by an NR gNB (3-05) operating on a beam basis may be composed of multiple Transmission Reception Points (TRPs, 3-10, 3-15, 3-20, 3-25, 3-30, 3-35, 3-40). The TRPs (3-10, 3-15, 3-20, 3-25, 3-30, 3-35~3-40) represent blocks that separate some of the functions of transmitting and receiving physical signals from an existing NR base station (eNB) and are composed of multiple antennas. The NR gNB (3-05) may be expressed as a CU (Central Unit) and the TRPs may also be expressed as DUs (Distributed Units). The functions of the above NR gNB (3-05) and TRP can be configured by separating each layer in the PDCP / RLC / MAC / PHY layers such as 3-45. That is, TRP (3-15, 3-25) can perform the functions of the corresponding layer with only the PHY layer, TRP (3-10, 3-35, 3-40) can perform the functions of the corresponding layers with only the PHY layer and MAC layer, and TRP (3-20, 3-30), 3-15, 3-20, 3-25, 3-30, 3-35~3-40) can use beamforming technology to transmit and receive data by generating narrow beams in multiple directions using multiple transmit / receive antennas. User terminals (3-50) connect to NR gNBs (3-05) and external networks via TRPs (3-10, 3-15, 3-20, 3-25, 3-30, 3-35~3-40). The NR gNBs (3-05) collect status information such as buffer status, available transmission power status, and channel status of terminals to schedule services for users, thereby supporting connections between the terminals and the core network (CN, Core network, 3-05), particularly AMF / SMF (3-50).
[0090] In various implementations of the present disclosure, the TRP is based on a structure (3-15, 3-25) that can perform the functions of the corresponding layer with only the PHY layer, but is not limited thereto.
[0091] FIG. 4 is a diagram illustrating a scenario in which a base station activates CA for a terminal in a situation in which known cells and unknown cells referenced in the present disclosure coexist.
[0092] In FIG. 4, in a situation where multiple cells are mixed, especially when a terminal (4-05) connected to a source cell (PCell; 4-10) is receiving a service, the terminal (4-05) reports Layer 3 measurement results to the base station according to measurement settings for surrounding cells from the source cell (PCell, Cell 1; 4-10). The source cell (PCell; 4-10) may have known cells (Cell 2; 4-15) and unknown cells (Cell 3, Cell 4; 4-20, 4-25) depending on the presence or absence of Layer 3 measurement results from the terminal (4-05). In reality, whether the base station activates CA for surrounding cells is not a prerequisite for whether the cells are known or unknown. That is, the base station can perform blind CA activation, which means activating CA for unknown cells. This is feasible from a base station implementation perspective, and in particular, activation for FR2 SCell can be applied to terminals first for reasons such as fast CA activation for collocated or non-collocated cells, and high data rates can be applied without Layer 3 measurement reporting.
[0093] However, when actually performing blind CA activation, there may be a problem in base station operation because the cell quality for the corresponding SCell is not reported. In other words, if the base station activates blind CA but does not receive Layer 3 measurement reports from the terminal, there may be restrictions on cell deployment and scheduling. To this end, if the base station activates blind CA for a certain reason and the measurement values for the activated cell are reported by the terminal, it can be of great help in improving the base station operation capability. In the present disclosure, when the unknown SCell (Cell 3; 4-20) among the unknown SCells (Cell 3, Cell 4; 4-20, 4-25) is activated, the terminal's measurement values for the corresponding cell are immediately reported to the base station. More precisely, the unknown SCell considered in the present disclosure refers to the FR2 SCell. This is because the beam measurement values change rapidly, so that blind CA activation for the FR2 SCell may occur frequently, and the terminal's report may include cell measurement values and beam measurement values.
[0094] In particular, the present disclosure proposes a method for triggering layer 3 measurement reporting for a cell in relation to how a terminal and a base station instruct and manage an unknown FR2 SCell.
[0095] FIG. 5 is a diagram illustrating a method for performing a Layer 3 measurement report for an unknown FR2 SCell when a terminal receives an activation instruction for the cell, as an overall procedure applicable to various embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0096] In Fig. 5, the overall operation is described when multiple cells (5-03, 5-04) exist around one cell (5-02), particularly when a known FR2 SCell (cell2, 5-03) and an unknown FR2 SCell (cell N, 5-04) exist. In Fig. 5, the base station (5-02) and cell 1 (5-02) can be used interchangeably, and in this case, the base station can be understood as the entity that operates the corresponding cell.
[0097] The terminal (5-01) receives system information (5-15) from cell 1 (5-02) in the camp-on state (5-10) and performs a transition procedure to the connected state (5-20). Thereafter, the serving cell (5-02) requests the terminal for terminal capability (UE capability enquiry message), and the terminal (5-01) receives and transmits the terminal capability (UE capability information message) according to the base station request (5-25). In the terminal capability report, the terminal (5-01) may be introduced with the capability to immediately perform layer 3 measurement and measurement report for the corresponding cell when an activation instruction for an unknown FR2 cell is received. The terminal capability may be transmitted through at least one signaling of terminal-specific capability, band-specific capability, or band combination-specific capability.
[0098] In step 5-30, the terminal (5-01) receives RRC configurations including configurations related to measurement reporting for an unknown FR2 SCell from cell 1 (5-02) (measurement configuration ?> report configuration -> add report type) and configurations instructing layer 3 measurement reporting operation of the terminal according to an activation instruction in a specific serving cell. A new measurement report type (reportOnSCellActivation) may be added to the configurations to perform measurement reporting when an unknown FR2 cell is instructed to be activated. For example, configuration values as shown in Table 1 below may be given.
[0099] ReportConfigNR ::= SEQUENCE {reportType CHOICE {periodical PeriodicalReportConfig,eventTriggered EventTriggerConfig,...,reportCGI ReportCGI,reportSFTD ReportSFTD-NR,condTriggerConfig-r16 CondTriggerConfig-r16,cli-Periodical-r16 CLI-PeriodicalReportConfig-r16,cli-EventTriggered-r16 CLI-EventTriggerConfig-r16,rxTxPeriodical-r17 RxTxPeriodical-r17,reportOnScellActivation-r18 ENUMERATED {true}}}
[0100] The base station (5-02) can transmit the above-mentioned reporting settings to the terminal (5-01) as measurement settings that are associated with the Measurement object, and the measID is used as an indicator that associates the settings. Refer to the settings in Table 2 below.
[0101] MeasIdToAddModList ::= SEQUENCE (SIZE (1..maxNrofMeasId)) OF MeasIdToAddModMeasIdToAddMod ::= SEQUENCE {measId MeasId,measObjectId MeasObjectId,reportConfigId ReportConfigId}
[0102] For reference, in order for the base station (5-02) to apply the new measurement report type (reportOnSCellActivation) only to FR2 SCells, the Measurement object (MeasObjectID) associated with the new report type is always set to be a measurement for an unknown FR2 SCell. Here, the unknown FR2 SCell can be defined as an FR2 SCell of which the base station (5-02) does not know the quality between the terminal (5-01) and the corresponding cell. For example, this may be the case where the terminal does not perform a measurement report for the Measurement object including the corresponding FR2 SCell for a certain period of time (several seconds or minutes), and thus the base station does not know the cell quality for the corresponding cell.
[0103] In the above step (5-30), the terminal (5-01) can receive configuration information about SCells through serving cell configuration information, and can determine whether the corresponding serving cell is an unknown FR2 SCell. In addition, the terminal can associate measurements for the corresponding cell based on the servingCellMO (measurement object associated with the serving cell) configured in this manner.
[0104] Alternatively, in the above step (5-30), the terminal (5-01) may directly configure a list (unknownFR2-SCellList) for unknown FR2 SCells through measurement configuration information. In this case, the terminal (5-01) can also associate measurements for the corresponding cell based on the servingCellMO (measurement object associated with the serving cell) for the corresponding cell. For the measurement configuration, refer to the example in Table 3 below.
[0105] MeasConfig ::= SEQUENCE {measObjectToRemoveList MeasObjectToRemoveList OPTIONAL, -- Need NmeasObjectToAddModList MeasObjectToAddModList OPTIONAL, -- Need NreportConfigToRemoveList ReportConfigToRemoveList OPTIONAL, -- Need NreportConfigToAddModList ReportConfigToAddModList OPTIONAL, -- Need NmeasIdToRemoveList MeasIdToRemoveList OPTIONAL, -- Need NmeasIdToAddModList MeasIdToAddModList OPTIONAL, -- Need Ns-MeasureConfig CHOICE {ssb-RSRP RSRP-Range,csi-RSRP RSRP-Range} OPTIONAL, -- Need MquantityConfig QuantityConfig OPTIONAL, -- Need MmeasGapConfig MeasGapConfig OPTIONAL, -- Need MmeasGapSharingConfig MeasGapSharingConfig OPTIONAL, -- Need M...,[[interFrequencyConfig-NoGap-r16 ENUMERATED {true} OPTIONAL -- Need R]],unknownFR2-SCellList SEQUENCE (SIZE (1...maxNrofSCells)) OF SCellIndex OPTIONAL -- Need R]]}
[0106] In step 5-30, if the above-described settings are provided from the base station, particularly the settings (serving cell indicator or unknown FR2 cell list) explicitly indicating an unknown FR2 SCell and the activation for the corresponding cell are indicated, and the settings (indicator and report type settings) for triggering a measurement report for the corresponding cell are provided to the terminal (5-01), the terminal (5-01) receives an SCell activation indication MAC CE in step 5-35 and performs an activation operation for a specific SCell (Cell 2, Cell 3; 5-03, 5-04). The SCell activation indication MAC CE may include FR1 and FR2 cells, and may include known and unknown cells from the base station's perspective.
[0107] In step 5-40, the terminal (5-01) checks whether the cell for which SCell activation was instructed in the above step is an unknown FR2 SCell, and if an unknown FR2 SCell exists, performs layer 3 measurement related to the cell or stores the measurement result for measurement reporting. That is, if a setting (reportOnSCellActivation) that triggers a Measurement report is received from the base station (5-02) when activation for an unknown FR2 SCell is instructed in the report setting, the terminal (5-01) performs a measurement report operation for the unknown FR2 SCell.
[0108] In step 5-45, the terminal (5-01) transmits a layer 3 measurement report to the base station, which includes measurement values (cell level measurement results and beam level measurement results) for the unknown FR2 SCell for which activation has been indicated. The measurement report in step 5-45 may include only measurements for the unknown FR2 SCell for which activation has been indicated. In other words, measurement reports for neighboring cells may be excluded. In addition, for the unknown FR2 SCell for which activation has been indicated, cell level measurements and RSRP (reference signal received power) / RSRQ (reference signal received quaility) / SINR (signal to interference plus noise ratio) of the measured beam may be reported together. This is because the base station can more accurately manage beams depending on the performance of a specific beam of the unknown FR2 SCell for which activation has been indicated. That is, the serving cell measurement values corresponding to measResultServingMOList in MeasResults of Table 4 below are included, and are characterized in that they include cellResults (cell level measurement values) and rsIndexResults (beam level measurement values).
[0109] MeasResults ::= SEQUENCE {measId MeasId,measResultServingMOList MeasResultServMOList,measResultNeighCells CHOICE {measResultListNR MeasResultListNR,...,measResultListEUTRA MeasResultListEUTRA,measResultListUTRA-FDD-r16 MeasResultListUTRA-FDD-r16,sl-MeasResultsCandRelay-r17 OCTET STRING -- Contains PC5 SL-MeasResultListRelay-r17} OPTIONAL,...,}MeasResultServMO ::= SEQUENCE {servCellId ServCellIndex,measResultServingCell MeasResultNR,measResultBestNeighCell MeasResultNR OPTIONAL,...}MeasResultListNR ::= SEQUENCE (SIZE (1..maxCellReport)) OF MeasResultNRMeasResultNR ::= SEQUENCE {physCellId PhysCellId OPTIONAL,measResult SEQUENCE {cellResults SEQUENCE{resultsSSB-Cell MeasQuantityResults OPTIONAL,resultsCSI-RS-Cell MeasQuantityResults OPTIONAL},rsIndexResults SEQUENCE{resultsSSB-Indexes ResultsPerSSB-IndexList OPTIONAL,resultsCSI-RS-Indexes ResultsPerCSI-RS-IndexList OPTIONAL} OPTIONAL},...,[[cgi-Info CGI-InfoNR OPTIONAL]],[[choCandidate-r17 ENUMERATED {true} OPTIONAL,choConfig-r17 SEQUENCE (SIZE (1..2)) OF CondTriggerConfig-r16 OPTIONAL,triggeredEvent-r17 SEQUENCE {timeBetweenEvents-r17 TimeBetweenEvent-r17 OPTIONAL,firstTriggeredEvent-r17 ENUMERATED {condFirstEvent, condSecondEvent} OPTIONAL} OPTIONAL]],}.
[0110] In step 5-50, the base station (5-02) can determine the cell quality between the unknown FR2 SCell and the terminal based on the measurement value for the unknown FR2 SCell reported by the terminal (5-01), and thereafter, use the information to manage the cell. For example, it can be applied to whether to maintain CA for the cell, beam management, scheduling, and data rate management implementation. In step 5-50 and subsequent steps, cells connected to the terminal (cell 1, cell 2, cell 3; 5-02, 5-03, 5-04) can transmit and receive data through CA.
[0111] The following embodiments of the present disclosure propose a method for performing Layer 3 measurement reporting for an unknown FR2 SCell upon receiving an activation instruction for the corresponding cell, as described in FIG. 5, and in particular, a procedure for how a terminal receives information about the unknown FR2 SCell and performs a measurement report accordingly. Accordingly, the embodiment of FIG. 5 can be combined with the embodiments of FIGS. 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.
[0112] FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating an operation of a terminal that performs a measurement report according to a preset measurement report type when the terminal receives an SCell activation instruction, as an embodiment 1 considered in the present disclosure.
[0113] The terminal operation in Example 1 is characterized in that, when the terminal receives an activation instruction for an unknown FR2 SCell, it supports an operation related to a method of performing a Layer 3 measurement report for the corresponding cell, and is applied when the corresponding base station provides a related setting, and in particular, it operates only for the unknown FR2 SCell. Therefore, an operation is required in which the terminal immediately performs a measurement report only for the unknown FR2 SCell.
[0114] In step 6-05, a connected terminal requests its terminal capability information from the base station and, in response, receives and transmits the terminal capability information. This terminal capability may include the ability to immediately perform measurement reports for an unknown FR2 SCell, in response to an activation instruction. For detailed operation, see Drawing 5.
[0115] In steps 6-10, the connected terminal receives RRC settings related to measurement reporting upon activation of an unknown FR2 SCell from the base station. These settings include measurement and reporting settings, serving cell-related settings, and the terminal's basic common / dedicated settings. For detailed configuration methods and details, refer to Figure 5. In particular, a new measurement report type (reportOnSCellActivation) can be added to these settings to perform measurement reporting when an unknown FR2 cell is indicated for activation. For example, the configuration values shown in Table 5 below can be provided.
[0116] ReportConfigNR ::= SEQUENCE {reportType CHOICE {periodical PeriodicalReportConfig,eventTriggered EventTriggerConfig,...,reportCGI ReportCGI,reportSFTD ReportSFTD-NR,condTriggerConfig-r16 CondTriggerConfig-r16,cli-Periodical-r16 CLI-PeriodicalReportConfig-r16,cli-EventTriggered-r16 CLI-EventTriggerConfig-r16,rxTxPeriodical-r17 RxTxPeriodical-r17,reportOnScellActivation-r18 ENUMERATED {true}}}
[0117] The base station can transmit the above-mentioned reporting settings to the terminal as measurement settings that are associated with a Measurement object, and the measID is used as an indicator to associate the settings. Refer to the settings in Table 6 below.
[0118] MeasIdToAddModList ::= SEQUENCE (SIZE (1..maxNrofMeasId)) OF MeasIdToAddModMeasIdToAddMod ::= SEQUENCE {measId MeasId,measObjectId MeasObjectId,reportConfigId ReportConfigId}
[0119] Note that in order for the base station to apply the new measurement reporting type (reportOnSCellActivation) only to FR2 SCells, the Measurement object (MeasObjectID) associated with the new report type must always be configured to measure an unknown FR2 SCell. Here, an unknown FR2 SCell can be defined as an FR2 SCell whose quality between the UE and the corresponding cell is unknown to the base station. For example, the UE may not perform a measurement report for the Measurement object containing the FR2 SCell for a certain period of time (several seconds or minutes), and thus the base station may not be aware of the cell quality for the corresponding cell. To this end, the UE needs to store and manage the most recent measurement report for each cell. For example, the UE may manage the SCell index and the measurement reporting time associated with the corresponding cell. In addition, a timer can be introduced to determine a newly unknown SCell. If the timer expires after a certain period of time since the measurement report was performed, the UE and the base station will determine the corresponding cell as an unknown cell. The timer restarts when a measurement report is performed for a particular cell, and stops when the cell is released or the measurement settings associated with the cell are released.
[0120] In steps 6-15, the terminal reports L3 measurement values to the base station according to the configuration. These measurement values can be used to determine cell selection and beam switching. That is, the measurement values can be used for cell activation and handover for CA, optimal beam management in the serving cell, etc. Then, in steps 6-20, the terminal can receive an SCell activation indication MAC CE from the base station, and the corresponding cells can include FR1 / FR2 cells and known / unknown cells (activation indication for at least one SCell).
[0121] In step 6-25, the terminal checks whether there is a report type (reportOnSCellActivation) indicating a measurement report according to SCell activation in the measurement-related settings in the RRC settings received in step 6-10, and if the corresponding reporting condition is set, performs the associated measurement report. That is, in step 6-30, the terminal receives the measurement result for the meas ID associated with the measurement report event according to the SCell activation indicated in the MAC CE, and reports the measurement result (including the cell and beam level measurements of the indicated serving cell) to the base station in step 6-35. As described above, in this embodiment, the base station needs to configure the measurement object associated with the unknown FR2 SCell in association with the corresponding new report type. In other words, the base station implementation must accurately convey the RRC settings (measurement and report settings) so that new reporting is performed only for the unknown FR2 SCell.
[0122] In step 6-25, if the terminal does not have a report type (reportOnSCellActivation) indicating a measurement report based on SCell activation in the measurement-related settings within the RRC settings received in step 6-10, the terminal operates according to the existing Layer 3 measurement and reporting method in step 6-40. That is, event-based and periodic reporting can be performed on the measurement object to be measured according to the established measurement settings.
[0123] FIG. 7 is a diagram illustrating an operation of a terminal that performs a measurement report according to a preset measurement report type and an unknown FR2 SCell list when the terminal receives an SCell activation instruction, as an embodiment 2 considered in the present disclosure.
[0124] In the second embodiment, the terminal operation is characterized in that, when the terminal receives an activation instruction for an unknown FR2 SCell, it supports an operation related to a method of performing a Layer 3 measurement report for the corresponding cell, and is applied when the corresponding base station provides a related setting, and in particular, it operates only for the unknown FR2 SCell, so an operation in which the terminal immediately performs a measurement report only for the unknown FR2 SCell is required. In particular, the second embodiment is characterized in that a method of clearly indicating which cell is the unknown FR2 SCell is characterized by RRC signaling.
[0125] In step 7-05, a connected terminal requests its terminal capability information from the base station and, in response, receives and transmits the terminal capability information. This terminal capability may include the ability to immediately perform measurement reports for an unknown FR2 SCell, in response to an activation instruction. For detailed operation details, see Drawing 5.
[0126] In steps 7-10, the connected terminal receives RRC settings related to measurement reporting upon activation of an unknown FR2 SCell from the base station. These settings include measurement and reporting settings, serving cell-related settings, and the terminal's basic common / dedicated settings. For detailed configuration methods and details, refer to Drawing 5. In particular, a new measurement report type (reportOnSCellActivation) can be added to these settings to perform measurement reporting when an unknown FR2 cell is indicated for activation. For example, the configuration values shown in Table 7 below can be provided.
[0127] ReportConfigNR ::= SEQUENCE {reportType CHOICE {periodical PeriodicalReportConfig,eventTriggered EventTriggerConfig,...,reportCGI ReportCGI,reportSFTD ReportSFTD-NR,condTriggerConfig-r16 CondTriggerConfig-r16,cli-Periodical-r16 CLI-PeriodicalReportConfig-r16,cli-EventTriggered-r16 CLI-EventTriggerConfig-r16,rxTxPeriodical-r17 RxTxPeriodical-r17,reportOnScellActivation-r18 ENUMERATED {true}}}
[0128] The base station can transmit the above-mentioned reporting settings to the terminal as measurement settings that are associated with the Measurement object, and the measID is used as an indicator to associate the settings. Refer to the settings in Table 8 below.
[0129] MeasIdToAddModList ::= SEQUENCE (SIZE (1..maxNrofMeasId)) OF MeasIdToAddModMeasIdToAddMod ::= SEQUENCE {measId MeasId,measObjectId MeasObjectId,reportConfigId ReportConfigId}
[0130] Note that in order for the base station to apply the new measurement report type (reportOnSCellActivation) only to FR2 SCells, the Measurement object (MeasObjectID) associated with the new report type must always be a measurement for an unknown FR2 SCell. Here, an unknown FR2 SCell can be defined as an FR2 SCell for which the base station does not know the quality between the UE and the corresponding cell. For example, this may be the case when the UE has not performed a measurement report for the Measurement object containing the corresponding FR2 SCell for a certain period of time (several seconds or minutes), and thus the base station does not know the cell quality for the corresponding cell.
[0131] To achieve this, the base station determines an unpaired FR2 SCell based on the measurement report received from the terminal and notifies the terminal of this via RRC signaling. The following two signaling methods exist.
[0132] - RRC signaling option 1: Introducing a new field (unknownFR2-SCell) in the serving cell configuration to indicate whether the SCell is an unknown SCell or not.
[0133] ■ In this case, the terminal can check whether the cell is an unknown cell for each serving cell, perform measurements in relation to the servingCellMO transmitted together with the corresponding settings, and perform measurement reporting according to the new measurement report type (reportOnSCellActivation) related thereto.
[0134] ■ ASN.1 signaling example (see Table 9)

[0136] - RRC signaling option 2: A new field (unknownFR2-SCellList) is introduced in the measurement configuration (MeasConfig) or above the RRC configuration to provide a list of SCells that indicate whether the SCells included in the list are unknown SCells.
[0137] ■ In this case, the terminal can check whether the cell is an unknown cell for each serving cell, perform measurements in relation to the servingCellMO transmitted together with the corresponding settings, and perform measurement reporting according to the new measurement report type (reportOnSCellActivation) related thereto.

[0140] In steps 7-15, the terminal reports L3 measurements according to the configuration, which can be used to determine cell selection and beam switching. This can be used for cell activation and handover for CA, optimal beam management in the serving cell, etc. Then, in steps 7-20, the terminal can receive a SCell activation indication MAC CE from the base station, and the corresponding cell can include FR1 / FR2 cells and known / unknown cells.
[0141] In step 7-25, the terminal checks whether there is a report type (reportOnSCellActivation) indicating a measurement report according to SCell activation in the measurement-related settings in the RRC settings received in step 7-10, and whether the cell indicated for activation by the MAC CE is indicated as an unknown cell. Thereafter, if the reporting condition is satisfied, the terminal performs the associated measurement report. That is, in step 7-30, the terminal receives the measurement result for the meas ID associated with the measurement report event according to the SCell activation indicated by the MAC CE (or receives the measurement result for the meas ID associated with the Serving cell MO of the unknown FR2 SCell). In step 7-35, the terminal reports the measurement result (including the cell and beam level measurement values of the indicated serving cell) to the base station. As described above, in this embodiment, it is necessary for the base station to configure the measurement object associated with the unknown FR2 SCell in association with the new report type. That is, the base station accurately informs the terminal whether it is an unknown FR2 SCell or not through RRC settings (measurement and reporting settings) so that new reporting is performed only for the unknown FR2 SCell.
[0142] In step 7-25, if the terminal does not have a report type (reportOnSCellActivation) indicating a measurement report based on SCell activation in the measurement-related settings within the RRC settings received in step 7-10, the terminal operates according to the existing Layer 3 measurement and reporting method in step 7-40. That is, event-based and periodic reporting can be performed on the measurement object to be measured according to the established measurement settings.
[0143] FIGS. 8A, 8B, and 8C are diagrams illustrating a MAC CE structure for instructing measurement reports for unknown FR2 SCells applied to Embodiment 3 of the present disclosure. Hereinafter, FIGS. 8A, 8B, and 8C are referred to as FIG. 8.
[0144] First, a characteristic of the MAC CE applicable throughout this disclosure is that it proposes a MAC CE that indicates cells requiring Layer 3 measurement reporting for FR2 unknown SCells whose activation is indicated through additional signaling to the MAC CE that activates existing SCells. To this end, we propose which MAC CE to apply and describe its specific structure.
[0145] 1) First, let’s look at the existing SCell activation instruction MAC CE (8-10) as follows.
[0146] - 1 octet size SCell Activation / Deactivation MAC CE (8-15): Indicates activation / deactivation for up to 8 SCells using bitmap information.
[0147] - 4 octet size SCell enable / disable MAC CE (8-20): Indicates enable / disable for up to 32 SCells using bitmap information.
[0148] Each bit in the bitmap corresponds to a SCell, with a bit value of 0 indicating the cell's deactivation, and a bit value of 1 indicating the cell's activation. The opposite interpretation of the bit values is not excluded. This bit interpretation can also be applied to the bit interpretations of other MAC CEs below.
[0149] 2) Proposed new unknown FR2 SCell (cell requiring Layer 3 measurement reporting) indicating MAC CE (8-30 (Option 1), 8-50 (Option 2)) type (need new eLCID to indicate proposed new MAC CE):
[0150] A. Option 1 (8-35, 8-40): MAC CE with an additional field indicating an unknown FR2 SCell requiring layer 3 measurement reporting (F field; unknown FR2 SCell index requiring layer 3 measurement reporting) in addition to the information (C field; serving cell index) included in the existing SCell activation indication MAC CE.
[0151] - Enhanced SCell Activation / Deactivation and Layer 3 Measurement Reporting Indication MAC CE (8-35) with 2 octet size: Indicates activation / deactivation for up to 8 SCells with bitmap information and activation / deactivation for up to 8 unknown FR2 SCells with bitmap information.
[0152] - Enhanced SCell Activation / Deactivation and Layer 3 Measurement Reporting Indication MAC CE (8-40) in 8 octet size: Indicates activation / deactivation for up to 32 SCells with bitmap information and activation / deactivation for up to 32 unknown FR2 SCells with bitmap information.
[0153] A bit value set to 1 in the F field may indicate that a Layer 3 measurement report or measurement report is required for the corresponding cell (unknown FR2 SCell). The opposite interpretation of the bit value is not excluded. This bit interpretation can also be applied to the bit interpretations of other MAC CEs below.
[0154] B. Option 2 (8-55, 8-60): A new MAC CE consisting of a field (F field; index of unknown FR2 SCell for which Layer 3 measurement reporting is required) indicating the unknown FR2 SCell for which Layer 3 measurement reporting is required. The new MAC CE may be delivered after the existing SCell activation MAC CE (8-10) has been delivered, or the new MAC CE may be delivered in the same MAC PDU as the existing SCell activation MAC CE. In this case, the octet sizes of the existing MAC CE and the new MAC CE must be the same.
[0155] - Enhanced SCell Activation / Deactivation and Layer 3 Measurement Reporting Indication MAC CE (8-55) with 1 octet size: Indicates activation / deactivation of up to 8 unknown FR2 SCells with bitmap information.
[0156] - Enhanced SCell Activation / Deactivation and Layer 3 Measurement Reporting Indication MAC CE (8-60) in 4 octet size: Indicates activation / deactivation of up to 32 unknown FR2 SCells with bitmap information.
[0157] FIG. 9 is a diagram illustrating an operation of a terminal performing a measurement report for an instructed unknown FR2 SCell when the terminal receives an SCell activation instruction, as an embodiment 3 considered in the present disclosure.
[0158] In particular, this terminal operation supports a related operation for performing Layer 3 measurement reporting for the corresponding cell when the terminal receives an activation instruction for an unknown FR2 SCell, and is applied when the corresponding base station provides related settings. In particular, since the related operation is characterized by operating only for the unknown FR2 SCell, an operation is required in which the terminal immediately performs measurement reporting only for the unknown FR2 SCell. Embodiment 3 is characterized by a method for clearly indicating which cell is the unknown FR2 SCell through MAC CE signaling.
[0159] In step 9-05, a connected terminal requests information about its terminal capabilities from the base station and, in response, receives and transmits the terminal capabilities. These capabilities may include the ability to immediately perform measurement reports for an unknown FR2 SCell, in response to an activation instruction. For detailed operation details, see Drawing 5.
[0160] In steps 9-10, the connected terminal receives RRC settings related to measurement reporting upon activation of an unknown FR2 SCell from the base station. For example, the configuration values shown in Table 11 below can be provided.

[0162] The base station can transmit the above-mentioned reporting settings to the terminal as measurement settings that are associated with the Measurement object, and the measID is used as an indicator to associate the settings. Refer to the settings in Table 12 below.
[0163] MeasIdToAddModList ::= SEQUENCE (SIZE (1..maxNrofMeasId)) OF MeasIdToAddModMeasIdToAddMod ::= SEQUENCE {measId MeasId,measObjectId MeasObjectId,reportConfigId ReportConfigId}
[0164] Note that in order for the base station to apply the new measurement report type (reportOnSCellActivation) only to FR2 SCells, the Measurement object (MeasObjectID) associated with the new report type must always be a measurement for an unknown FR2 SCell.
[0165] In steps 9-15, the terminal reports L3 measurement values according to the configuration, and the measurement values can be used to determine cell selection and beam change. That is, it can be used for cell activation and handover for CA, optimal beam management in the serving cell, etc. Then, in steps 9-20, the terminal can receive a SCell activation indication MAC CE from the base station, and the corresponding cells may include FR1 / FR2 cells and known / unknown cells. In this step, the base station can transmit a MAC CE including cell information instructing measurement reporting for an unknown FR2 SCell simultaneously with the SCell activation indication. That is, by simultaneously transmitting a MAC CE instructing a new SCell activation and measurement reporting for an unknown FR2 SCell or a MAC CE instructing an existing SCell activation and a MAC CE instructing measurement reporting for an additional unknown FR2 SCell, the terminal can be instructed to perform measurement reporting for an unknown FR2 SCell. For a detailed MAC CE structure, refer to FIG. 8.
[0166] In steps 9-25, the terminal checks whether there is a report type (reportOnSCellActivation) indicating a measurement report according to SCell activation in the measurement-related settings in the RRC settings received in steps 9-10, and whether the cell indicated for activation by the MAC CE is indicated as an unknown FR2 cell. Thereafter, if the reporting condition is satisfied, the terminal performs the associated measurement report. That is, in steps 9-30, the terminal receives the measurement result for the meas ID associated with the measurement report event according to the SCell activation indicated by the MAC CE (or receives the measurement result for the meas ID associated with the Serving cell MO of the unknown FR2 SCell), and reports the measurement result (including the cell and beam level measurement values of the indicated serving cell) to the base station in steps 9-35.
[0167] In steps 9-25, if the terminal does not have a report type (reportOnSCellActivation) indicating a measurement report based on SCell activation in the measurement-related settings within the RRC settings received in steps 9-10, the terminal operates according to the existing Layer 3 measurement and reporting method in steps 9-40. That is, event-based and periodic reporting can be performed on the measurement object to be measured according to the determined measurement settings.
[0168] FIG. 10 is a diagram illustrating base station operations applied to embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0169] In step 10-05, the base station provides system information to the terminal, and in step 10-10, receives terminal capability information from the connected terminal. This terminal capability may include the ability to immediately perform measurement reports for the unknown FR2 SCell, in response to an activation instruction. For detailed operation, see Drawing 5.
[0170] In steps 10-15, the base station transmits the relevant RRC configuration to the terminal in the connected state and the terminal that supports the L3 measurement reporting configuration function for Unknown FR2 SCell activation. The configuration may include a new measurement report type (reportOnSCellActivation) that performs a measurement report when an unknown FR2 cell is indicated for activation, in relation to measurement configuration and reporting. In addition, a configuration may be provided that indicates whether it is an unknown FR2 for each serving cell, or activates a function to perform a measurement report immediately upon receiving an SCell activation indication. For detailed configuration methods and contents proposed in the present disclosure, refer to the contents of FIGS. 5, 6, 7, and 9.
[0171] In steps 10-20, L3 measurement values are received from the terminal, and the measurement values can be used to determine whether to activate the SCell, whether to perform a handover, etc. In steps 10-25, the base station can instruct activation of a specific SCell through an SCell activation indication MAC CE. The SCell can be a known cell or an unknown cell, and can be an FR1 cell or an FR2 cell. In this step, the base station can set a blind CA, that is, an operation to instruct activation for an unknown cell first, and in particular, if a blind CA is applied to an FR2 SCell and activation of an unknown FR2 SCell is instructed, a layer 3 measurement report for the cell from the terminal is expected according to the previous setting. The operation of instructing an unknown SCell through a MAC CE is described in FIG. 8.
[0172] In steps 10-30, the base station receives a layer 3 measurement value report for an unknown FR2 SCell from the terminal. This is a result of the terminal determining and triggering a measurement report for the unknown FR2 SCell according to the method described in the embodiments of the present disclosure (Figures 6, 7, and 9). In steps 10-35, the base station performs cell management for the corresponding cell based on the measurement report for the unknown FR2 SCell received in the above step. For example, this can be applied to determining whether CA is maintained for the corresponding cell, beam management, scheduling, and data rate management implementation.
[0173] Figure 11 is a drawing showing the configuration of a terminal according to the present disclosure.
[0174] Referring to the above drawing, the terminal includes an RF (Radio Frequency) processing unit (11-10), a baseband processing unit (11-20), a storage unit (11-30), and a control unit (11-40). The control unit (1kl-40) may further include a multi-connection processing unit (1k-42).
[0175] The RF processing unit (11-10) performs functions for transmitting and receiving signals through a wireless channel, such as signal band conversion and amplification. That is, the RF processing unit (11-10) up-converts the baseband signal provided from the baseband processing unit (11-20) into an RF band signal and transmits it through an antenna, and down-converts the RF band signal received through the antenna into a baseband signal. For example, the RF processing unit (11-10) may include a transmission filter, a reception filter, an amplifier, a mixer, an oscillator, a digital to analog convertor (DAC), an analog to digital convertor (ADC), etc. In the drawing, only one antenna is shown, but the terminal may be equipped with multiple antennas. In addition, the RF processing unit (11-10) may include multiple RF chains. Furthermore, the RF processing unit (11-10) may perform beamforming. For the above beamforming, the RF processing unit (11-10) can adjust the phase and size of each signal transmitted and received through multiple antennas or antenna elements. In addition, the RF processing unit can perform MIMO and receive multiple layers when performing the MIMO operation.
[0176] The baseband processing unit (11-20) above performs a conversion function between a baseband signal and a bit stream according to the physical layer specifications of the system. For example, when transmitting data, the baseband processing unit (11-20) generates complex symbols by encoding and modulating a transmission bit stream. In addition, when receiving data, the baseband processing unit (11-20) restores the reception bit stream by demodulating and decoding the baseband signal provided from the RF processing unit (11-10). For example, in the case of following the OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) method, when transmitting data, the baseband processing unit (11-20) generates complex symbols by encoding and modulating a transmission bit stream, maps the complex symbols to subcarriers, and then configures OFDM symbols through an inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) operation and a cyclic prefix (CP) insertion. In addition, when receiving data, the baseband processing unit (11-20) divides the baseband signal provided from the RF processing unit (11-10) into OFDM symbol units, restores signals mapped to subcarriers through FFT (fast Fourier transform) operation, and then restores the received bit string through demodulation and decoding.
[0177] The baseband processing unit (11-20) and the RF processing unit (11-10) transmit and receive signals as described above. Accordingly, the baseband processing unit (11-20) and the RF processing unit (11-10) may be referred to as a transmitter, a receiver, a transceiver, or a communication unit. Furthermore, at least one of the baseband processing unit (11-20) and the RF processing unit (11-10) may include a plurality of communication modules to support a plurality of different wireless access technologies. In addition, at least one of the baseband processing unit (11-20) and the RF processing unit (11-10) may include different communication modules to process signals of different frequency bands. For example, the different wireless access technologies may include a wireless LAN (e.g., IEEE 802.11), a cellular network (e.g., LTE), etc. Additionally, the different frequency bands may include a super high frequency (SHF) (e.g., 2.NRHz, NRhz) band and a millimeter wave (mm wave) (e.g., 60GHz) band.
[0178] The storage unit (11-30) stores data such as basic programs, application programs, and setting information for the operation of the terminal. In particular, the storage unit (11-30) can store information related to a second access node that performs wireless communication using a second wireless access technology. In addition, the storage unit (11-30) provides the stored data at the request of the control unit (11-40).
[0179] The control unit (11-40) controls the overall operations of the terminal. For example, the control unit (11-40) transmits and receives signals through the baseband processing unit (11-20) and the RF processing unit (11-10). In addition, the control unit (11-40) records and reads data in the storage unit (11-30). For this purpose, the control unit (11-40) may include at least one processor. For example, the control unit (11-40) may include a communication processor (CP) that performs control for communication and an application processor (AP) that controls upper layers such as application programs. The control unit (11-40) may be configured to perform measurement and reporting operations for the FR2 serving cell according to various embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0180] Figure 12 is a drawing showing the configuration of a base station according to the present disclosure.
[0181] As shown in the above drawing, the base station is configured to include an RF processing unit (12-10), a baseband processing unit (12-20), a backhaul communication unit (12-30), a storage unit (12-40), and a control unit (12-50). The control unit (12-50) may further include a multi-connection processing unit (12-52).
[0182] The RF processing unit (12-10) performs functions for transmitting and receiving signals through a wireless channel, such as signal band conversion and amplification. That is, the RF processing unit (12-10) up-converts the baseband signal provided from the baseband processing unit (12-20) into an RF band signal and transmits it through an antenna, and down-converts the RF band signal received through the antenna into a baseband signal. For example, the RF processing unit (12-10) may include a transmission filter, a reception filter, an amplifier, a mixer, an oscillator, a DAC, an ADC, etc. In the drawing, only one antenna is shown, but the first access node may have multiple antennas. In addition, the RF processing unit (12-10) may include multiple RF chains. Furthermore, the RF processing unit (12-10) may perform beamforming. For the above beamforming, the RF processing unit (12-10) can adjust the phase and size of each signal transmitted and received through multiple antennas or antenna elements. The RF processing unit can perform a downlink MIMO operation by transmitting one or more layers.
[0183] The baseband processing unit (12-20) performs a conversion function between a baseband signal and a bit stream according to the physical layer specifications of the first wireless access technology. For example, when transmitting data, the baseband processing unit (12-20) generates complex symbols by encoding and modulating a transmission bit stream. In addition, when receiving data, the baseband processing unit (12-20) restores the reception bit stream by demodulating and decoding the baseband signal provided from the RF processing unit (12-10). For example, in the case of OFDM, when transmitting data, the baseband processing unit (12-20) generates complex symbols by encoding and modulating a transmission bit stream, maps the complex symbols to subcarriers, and then configures OFDM symbols through IFFT operation and CP insertion. In addition, when receiving data, the baseband processing unit (12-20) divides the baseband signal provided from the RF processing unit (12-10) into OFDM symbol units, restores the signals mapped to subcarriers through FFT operation, and then restores the received bit string through demodulation and decoding. The baseband processing unit (12-20) and the RF processing unit (12-10) transmit and receive signals as described above. Accordingly, the baseband processing unit (12-20) and the RF processing unit (12-10) may be referred to as a transmitter, a receiver, a transceiver, a communication unit, or a wireless communication unit.
[0184] The above backhaul communication unit (12-30) provides an interface for performing communication with other nodes within the network. That is, the backhaul communication unit (12-30) converts a bit string transmitted from the main base station to another node, such as an auxiliary base station or core network, into a physical signal, and converts a physical signal received from the other node into a bit string.
[0185] The storage unit (12-40) stores data such as basic programs, application programs, and setting information for the operation of the main base station. In particular, the storage unit (12-40) can store information on bearers assigned to connected terminals, measurement results reported from connected terminals, and the like. In addition, the storage unit (12-40) can store information that serves as a judgment criterion for whether to provide or terminate multiple connections to a terminal. In addition, the storage unit (12-40) provides the stored data at the request of the control unit (12-50).
[0186] The control unit (12-50) controls the overall operations of the main base station. For example, the control unit (12-50) transmits and receives signals through the baseband processing unit (12-20) and the RF processing unit (12-10) or through the backhaul communication unit (12-30). In addition, the control unit (12-50) records and reads data in the storage unit (12-40). For this purpose, the control unit (12-50) may include at least one processor. In order to support reporting of measurements for an FR2 serving cell according to various embodiments of the present disclosure, the control unit (12-50) generates and provides a MAC CE for providing and activating configuration information proposed in various embodiments of the present disclosure, and may use the measurement information for the FR2 serving cell received from the terminal for CA, scheduling, etc.
