Description

Processing method for ultra-thin dental prostheses

[0001] The present invention relates to a method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis, and more particularly, to a method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis that covers or fills a tooth to restore the function of the tooth.

[0002] Dental cosmetic procedures include dental prosthetics, orthodontics, and dental implants. Specifically, dental prosthetics involves covering or filling damaged teeth with a dental prosthesis to restore their function when the tooth's interior or exterior is damaged by diseases like cavities or periodontal disease, or by sudden trauma. These dental prosthetics include resin, inlays, onlays, crowns, and laminates.

[0003] However, when performing dental prosthetic treatment using dental prosthetics such as crowns and laminates, there is a problem of removing too many teeth unnecessarily.

The step of manufacturing the secondary dental prosthesis includes the steps of: polishing an undercut portion close to a margin portion of an inner surface of the primary dental prosthesis using a first processing tool; and polishing the margin portion of the inner surface of the primary dental prosthesis using a second processing tool. The undercut portion is a curved portion formed on an inner surface of the primary dental prosthesis, and the margin portion is a portion of the inner surface of the primary dental prosthesis that contacts the gums.

[0010] The above margin can be set to fit the deleted final outline.

[0011] The step of manufacturing the secondary dental prosthesis further includes the step of removing an early contact point of the secondary dental prosthesis, wherein the early contact point may be a protrusion formed on the inner surface of the secondary dental prosthesis.

[0012] The step of manufacturing the secondary dental prosthesis may further include a step of first adjusting the thickness of the secondary dental prosthesis using a first thickness adjusting tool.

[0013] The step of manufacturing the secondary dental prosthesis may further include a step of modifying the shape of the secondary dental prosthesis using a shape modification tool.

[0014] The step of manufacturing the secondary dental prosthesis further includes a step of secondarily adjusting the thickness of the secondary dental prosthesis using a second thickness adjusting tool, and the average removal amount of the second thickness adjusting tool may be smaller than the average removal amount of the first thickness adjusting tool.

[0015] A method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to one embodiment of the present invention can rapidly manufacture a dental prosthesis that is fine and precise by processing a primary dental prosthesis that has been first processed by a milling device secondarily using a processing tool, thereby having the effect of quickly providing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis by minimizing the amount of tooth removal.

[0039] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings so that those skilled in the art can easily implement the present invention. The present invention may be implemented in various different forms and is not limited to the embodiments described herein.

[0040] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.

[0041] FIG. 1 is a flowchart of a method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to one embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a drawing explaining a method for generating a prosthesis image in a method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0042] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to one embodiment of the present invention first generates a prosthesis image (20) using an oral image (10) generated by design software (S100).

[0043] Oral images (10) are created by inputting facial photographs into design software. The design software may be software equipped with a program that can provide design functions, such as CAD, but is not necessarily limited thereto, and various design software may be applied.

[0044] At this time, in the set model axis of the design software, the arrangement of teeth in relation to the patient's face, which has undergone analysis of the facial photograph, is considered and set to fit a horseshoe-shaped frame to create an oral image (10). To this end, a prosthetic shape that fits the patient's needs and oral environment is selected from the library of the design software. For example, a prosthetic shape is selected if the patient wants full teeth, wants to improve aging teeth, or wants natural teeth. Then, the selected prosthetic shape is applied to the oral image (10) and arranged to create a prosthetic image (20). At this time, the prosthetic image (20) is created by comparing it with the tooth scan data before deleting the surface of the patient's teeth.

[0045] FIG. 3 is a drawing illustrating a method for manufacturing an oral cavity model in a method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0046] As illustrated in Fig. 3, a corrected oral image (10) is used in design software to produce an oral cavity model (30) by outputting it to a 3D printer (S200). At this time, a more precise oral cavity model (30) can be produced using the corrected oral cavity image (10).

[0047] Next, a milling device (MA) is applied to the prosthetic image (20) and the oral model (30) to perform primary processing of the prosthetic block to manufacture a primary dental prosthesis (41) (S300).

[0048] FIG. 4 is a drawing illustrating a method for manufacturing a primary dental prosthesis in a method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to one embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 5 is a schematic side cross-sectional view of the primary dental prosthesis.

[0049] As illustrated in FIGS. 4 and 5, a prosthetic block, which is a material for a primary dental prosthesis (41), is prepared. The prosthetic block may be made of reinforced ceramic, etc. Such a prosthetic block may have properties similar to those of teeth.

[0050] A primary dental prosthesis (41) is manufactured by first processing a prosthesis block using a milling device (MA). The milling device (MA) is a device that precisely carves a prosthesis block from various angles, and is a device that manufactures a primary dental prosthesis according to a prosthesis image created in design software. Data such as the overall size of the primary dental prosthesis, boundary values, and inner space size can be input into the milling device. The milling device (MA) can use inLab Mcxl, but is not necessarily limited thereto, and various milling devices can be applied.

[0051] However, such a milling device (MA) cannot grind the marginal portion (MJ) of the primary dental prosthesis (41) or the undercut portion (MU) on the inner surface close to the marginal portion (MJ). Here, the marginal portion (MJ) is a portion of the inner surface of the primary dental prosthesis (41) that comes into contact with the gums, and may have a spare portion left unpolished by the milling device (MA) to prevent excessive cutting by the milling device (MA). The undercut portion (UC) is a curved portion formed on the inner surface of the primary dental prosthesis (41) to fit the curvature of the tooth, and the undercut portion (UC) is mostly formed by grinding by the milling device (MA), but the undercut portion (MU) close to the marginal portion (MJ) is left unpolished by the milling device (MA).

[0052] Next, the primary dental prosthesis (41) is secondarily processed using a processing tool (51, 52) to manufacture a secondary dental prosthesis (42) (S400). In the above, the second processing using the processing tool may be performed manually by a dental technician or by a programmed robot arm.

[0053] FIG. 6 is a flowchart of a method for manufacturing a secondary dental prosthesis in a method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to an embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 7 is a drawing explaining a method for removing an undercut portion in a method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 8 is a drawing explaining a method for removing a margin portion in a method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0054] As shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, the undercut portion (MU) close to the margin portion of the inner surface of the primary dental prosthesis (41) is polished using the first processing tool (51) to manufacture the secondary dental prosthesis (42) (S410).

[0055] The undercut part (UC) is a curved part of the inner surface of the primary dental prosthesis (41) that comes into contact with the abutment tooth, and the undercut part (MU) close to the margin part corresponds to a spare part left by the milling device to prevent excessive cutting of the margin part (MJ). If the undercut part (MU) close to the margin part is not removed, lifting will occur when the secondary dental prosthesis (42) is bonded to the abutment tooth, so adjustment by precise cutting is necessary.

[0056] The first machining tool (51) may have a rounded end, a diameter that gradually increases toward the opposite end, and a cutting surface on the outer surface. The first machining tool (51) may preferably include a stone point, but is not necessarily limited thereto, and various tools may be applied. The first machining tool (51) is operated at a rotation speed of 3,000 rpm to 10,000 rpm and a cutting angle of 10 to 45 degrees to remove the undercut portion.

[0057] When the rotation speed of the first processing tool (51) is less than 3,000 rpm, the rotation speed is low, making it difficult to perform a smooth cutting process. When the rotation speed of the first processing tool (51) exceeds 10,000 rpm, the cutting force is too large, making it difficult to perform detailed cutting.

[0058] In addition, when the cutting angle of the first processing tool (51) is less than 10 degrees, it is difficult to easily cut the undercut portion of the primary tooth prosthesis (41), and when the cutting angle of the first processing tool (51) is more than 45 degrees, there is a problem that the margin portion of the primary tooth prosthesis (41) surrounding the tooth is unintentionally cut.

[0059] And, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 8, the margin part of the inner surface of the primary dental prosthesis (41) is ground using the second processing tool (52) to manufacture the secondary dental prosthesis (42) (S420). This margin part is the part of the inner surface of the primary dental prosthesis (41) that comes into contact with the gums, and corresponds to a spare part left by the milling device (MA) to prevent excessive cutting, and can be set to match the final outline deleted from the surface of the tooth so that a gap does not occur between the dental prosthesis and the abutment tooth due to the thickness of the margin part. The second processing tool (52) may have a cutting surface on the outer surface of the increasing part with a sharp shape at one end and a diameter that gradually increases toward the other end, and preferably may include a needle bur, but is not necessarily limited thereto, and various tools may be applied. The margin is removed at a speed lower than the processing speed of the first processing tool (51) using a second processing tool (52) connected to an air turbine.

[0060] Then, the early contact point (CP) of the secondary tooth prosthesis (42) is removed (S430).

[0061] The early contact point is a portion that first comes into contact when the dental prosthesis (40) is attached to the oral model (30) and prevents the dental prosthesis (40) from being inserted into the oral model (30), and may be a protrusion formed on the inner surface of the secondary dental prosthesis (42).

[0062] These early contact points can be formed in the interproximal space of the teeth. Here, mesial includes mesial and distal, with mesial being closer to the midline and distal being further from the midline. Therefore, these early contact points must be removed so that the dental prosthesis (40) can be properly attached to the oral model (30).

[0063] And, the thickness of the secondary dental prosthesis (42) is first adjusted using the first thickness adjustment tool (61) (S440). Fig. 9 is a perspective view of the first thickness adjustment tool used in the method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to one embodiment of the present invention. As illustrated in Fig. 9, the first thickness adjustment tool (61) may have a cylindrical shape and a cutting surface on the side, and may preferably include a stone wheel, but is not necessarily limited thereto, and various tools may be applied.

[0064] Then, the shape of the secondary dental prosthesis (42) is modified using a shape modification tool (S450). The shape modification tool may include a dia bur and a stone point, but is not necessarily limited thereto, and various tools may be applied.

[0065] Then, the thickness of the secondary tooth prosthesis (42) is adjusted for the second time using the second thickness adjustment tool (62) (S460).

[0066] Fig. 10 is a perspective view of a second thickness adjustment tool used in a method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to one embodiment of the present invention. As illustrated in Fig. 10, the second thickness adjustment tool (62) may have a cylindrical shape and a cutting surface on a side surface, and in particular, may have a head having an outer diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the first thickness adjustment tool (62), and may preferably include a stone point, but is not necessarily limited thereto, and various tools may be applied.

[0067] The average removal amount of the second thickness adjustment tool (62) may be smaller than the average removal amount of the first thickness adjustment tool. The minimum thickness of the secondary dental prosthesis (42) that can be adjusted by the second thickness adjustment tool (62) may be 0.1 to 0.2 mm. In this case, by adjusting the thickness of the secondary dental prosthesis (42) multiple times instead of adjusting it all at once, damage to the thin portion of the secondary dental prosthesis (42) can be prevented.

[0068] Then, the secondary processed secondary tooth prosthesis (42) is polished (S500).

[0069] Then, the polished secondary dental prosthesis (42) is glazed to reproduce a shape and gloss similar to natural teeth, thereby completing the dental prosthesis (40) (S600). Fig. 11 is a perspective view of an ultra-thin dental prosthesis manufactured by a method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0070] In this way, the method for processing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis according to one embodiment of the present invention can manufacture an ultra-thin dental prosthesis having a very thin thickness by secondarily processing a primary dental prosthesis first processed by a milling device in a fine and precise manner through a processing tool (51, 52), thereby providing an ultra-thin dental prosthesis that minimizes the amount of tooth removal.

[0071] Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been described above, the present invention is not limited thereto, and various modifications can be made within the scope of the patent claims, the detailed description of the invention, and the attached drawings, and it is obvious that this also falls within the scope of the present invention.
