[0002] Device and arrangement for focusing the light radiation of a mobile phone light
[0003] The invention relates to a device and an arrangement according to the preambles of the independent patent claims.
[0004] Mobile phones have been equipped with cameras with light sources for some time now. These camera light sources originally served as flashlights, i.e., to illuminate the object being photographed in poor lighting conditions. While it is common practice for normal cameras to change the characteristics of the flashlight's light radiation using a diffuser, for example, it is generally not possible to adjust the characteristics of a mobile phone's camera light source. For this reason, accessories are known in the art that can change the light characteristics of a mobile phone's camera light source. In particular, diffuser attachments are known that further scatter the light radiation emitted by a camera light source. This allows for more even illumination of the object being photographed. However, over time, other applications for this camera light source have become established, in addition to their use as a light source for photography.According to the state of the art, it is known to use the light source for purely optical effects, such as as a signal for an incoming call or to illuminate a mobile phone case.
[0005] One of the main uses for camera light sources has become established as a flashlight. However, the camera light source is not ideal for this purpose, as it is actually designed for photography and therefore emits a rather broadly diffused light. This significantly reduces the illumination range.
[0006] To increase the illumination range, lenses for focusing the light emitted by a mobile phone's camera light source are already available. However, these are usually complicated to use. For example, it's not easy to position the lens precisely in front of the camera light source. Furthermore, conventional lenses are often too bulky to be permanently attached to the mobile phone. They usually cannot be combined with conventional mobile phone cases or protective elements for the mobile phone camera.
[0007] The object of the invention is to provide a device and an arrangement for focusing the light radiation emitted by a camera light source of a mobile phone that overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art. In particular, the device should enable good focusing of the light radiation without restricting the other handling and protection of the mobile phone.
[0008] The invention particularly relates to a device for focusing the light radiation of a camera light source of a mobile phone.

[0045] If appropriate, the mobile phone protective case may have a recess for part of the holder. If appropriate, the holder may have a recess for part of the mobile phone protective case.
[0046] The holder or device is preferably designed for a specific mobile phone model. A mobile phone model is in particular a series of mobile phones with a specific external shape. If the device or holder is specifically adapted to the shape of a mobile phone model, it can be constructed particularly simply. As a result, an effective effect of the device can be achieved through a simple construction. The effect is, in particular, efficient focusing of the light radiation from the camera light source, and moreover preferably also protection of the camera module or camera lens while being easy to handle. The camera light source is preferably arranged in the region of the camera module of the mobile phone and, in particular, is part of the camera module.
[0047] The lens is preferably a converging lens for focusing the LED radiation of a mobile phone, in particular the camera light source of a specific mobile phone model.
[0048] The holder comprises at least one positioning element. This positioning element enables easy positioning and, in particular, centering of the holder and thus also of the lens in a predetermined area of the mobile phone model. In particular, the lens should be positioned precisely in front of the camera light source. The holder is preferably self-centering and positions the lens precisely in front of the camera light source when the device is connected to the mobile phone. The centering pattern results from the special design of the camera extension, in particular the camera lens.
[0049] The device is intended to make it possible to achieve a luminosity of up to 200m using a conventional camera light source from a conventional mobile phone.
[0050] The special mount preferably offers several advantages. On the one hand, it is designed to hold and, if necessary, protect the lens. Furthermore, it can be shaped to allow precise positioning of the lens in front of the camera light source. In addition, it can also serve as protection around the camera or to protect the camera module.
[0051] Preferably, the holder is compatible with a conventional mobile phone protective case, so that a conventional mobile phone protective case can be used even when the holder or device is connected to the mobile phone.
[0052] Alternatively or additionally, the holder can be held or positioned by the mobile phone protective case.
[0053] The lens can be mounted on the mount in a movable manner. For example, the lens can be moved in front of or next to the camera light source using a slider. If necessary, the lens can also be pushed into a protected area within the mount so that it is not visible.
[0054] The lens is preferably an aspherical lens, preferably plano-convex. The curved contour of the lens preferably corresponds to a polynomial function with exclusively even exponents, with the polynomial function being of degree 6 or higher. For example, the polynomial function can be a polynomial function of degree 10 or 12. The shape of the lens is preferably adapted to the camera light source of the specific mobile phone model.
[0055] Preferably, the positioning element is designed such that positioning of the lens on or in front of the camera light source is carried out by positioning the positioning element of the positioning element on at least one camera extension of the mobile phone model.
[0056] The invention will be further described below with reference to the figures.
[0057] Fig. 1 shows a schematic oblique view of a device. Fig. 2 shows the functioning of a device in a schematic sectional view.
[0058] Fig. 3 shows another possible embodiment of a device.
[0059] Fig. 4 shows a schematic detailed view.
[0060] Fig. 5 shows another embodiment of a device.
[0061] Fig. 6 shows a schematic view in which parts of the illustrated components are cut away.
[0062] Fig. 7 shows a schematic sectional view of the functionality of the lens 3.
[0063] Unless otherwise stated, the reference numerals correspond to the following components: Camera light source 1 , mobile phone 2, lens 3, holder 4, camera extension 5, positioning element 6, recess (of the holder) 7, light radiation 8, mounting surface (of the holder) 9, thickness (of the holder) 10, lens height 11 , lens diameter 12, means (for connection to the mobile phone) 13, lens opening 14, focusing device 15, adjustment device 16, camera module 17, camera lens 18, recess 19
[0064] Fig. 1 shows a schematic oblique view of a device for focusing light radiation. The device comprises a lens 3 held in a holder 4. In particular, the holder 4 comprises a lens opening 14 adapted to the size and shape of the lens 3. Preferably, the lens 3 is recessed into the lens opening 14. As a result, the lens 3 does not protrude. The lens 3 is thus better protected.
[0065] For positioning the lens 3, the holder 4 comprises a positioning element 6. In the embodiment of Fig. 1, this positioning element 6 is formed as a recess 7 in the holder 4.
[0066] In addition, a means 13 is provided for connecting the holder 4 to a mobile phone 2, not shown.
[0067] The functioning of the device in Fig. 1 is particularly the schematic
[0068] sectional view of Fig. 2. The holder 4 is attached to or on a mobile phone 2. A lens 3 is provided on the holder 4. The lens 3 is designed to focus light radiation 8 from a camera light source 1 of the mobile phone 2. The lens 3 is arranged in front of the camera light source 1. Positioning is preferably carried out via a positioning element 6 which, as described in Fig. 1, is designed as a recess 7. In the present embodiment, the positioning element 6 enables positioning of the lens 3 or the holder 4 on the camera extension 5 of the mobile phone 2. The camera extension 5, which is used to position the holder 4, is the camera lens 18 in this embodiment. Alternatively, a protruding camera module 17 can also be used to position the positioning element 6 on the camera extension 5. The holder 4 comprises a mounting surface 9 which is attached to the mobile phone 2.
[0069] This attachment can be achieved using any connecting means 13, for example, using double-sided adhesive tape or an adhesive pad, as also schematically shown in Fig. 1. Alternatively, the connection can also be magnetic. As a further alternative, the recess 7 or the positioning element 6 can be attached or clamped to the camera extension 5.
[0070] The lens opening 14 of the holder 4, in which the lens 3 is held, can, for example, be designed to widen outwards or to be conical.
[0071] The holder 4 has a certain thickness 10. This thickness 10 can, for example, be dimensioned such that the holder 4 protects the camera extension 5 of the mobile phone 2. In particular, the area between the camera extension 5 and the camera light source 1 can be protected by the holder 4. The camera module 17 is protected by the holder 4. If necessary, several camera lenses 18 are provided so that the areas between the camera lenses 18 can be protected. If necessary, the thickness 10 of the holder 4 is dimensioned greater than the distance by which the camera lens 18 protrudes from the housing of the mobile phone 2. This can provide further protection for the mobile phone 2 or its camera module 17 and its camera lens 18.
[0072] Preferably, the device, and in particular the holder 4, is permanently connected to the mobile phone 2. Fig. 3 shows another possible embodiment of a device. The device comprises a holder 4 to which a lens 3 is attached. Furthermore, the device comprises a positioning element 6 for positioning the holder 4 and the lens 3 on a mobile phone 2 (not shown).
[0073] The device according to Fig. 3 comprises an adjustment device 16. The adjustment device 16 enables a displacement of the lens 3 relative to the holder 4. In particular, a slider is provided which makes it possible to slide the lens 3 along the holder 4. This allows the lens 3 to be pushed either in front of or next to the camera light source 1 (not shown) of the mobile phone 2. If the holder 4 is connected to the mobile phone 2, the light radiation 8 can be selectively focused if the lens 3 is pushed in front of the camera light source 1. If the lens 3 is pushed away from the camera light source 1 by the adjustment device 16 and positioned next to the camera light source 1, the light radiation 8 no longer passes through the lens 3 and no focusing takes place. An advantage of this embodiment is that the holder 4 can be permanently connected to the mobile phone 2, but the camera light can still be selectively focused. This makes it possible to use the camera light source 1 either as a flashlight or as a camera flash.
[0074] Fig. 4 shows a schematic detailed view of another possibility for attaching the lens 3 to the holder 4. The lens 3 is mounted so as to be movable relative to the holder 4. In particular, a focusing device 15 is provided. The focusing device 15 makes it possible to change the distance of the lens 3 from the camera light source 1 (not shown). This allows the degree of focusing to be adjusted. The distance between the lens 3 and the holder 4 is changed along the light radiation 8. This can be done, for example, via a thread, as in this embodiment. As an alternative to the design with a thread, the lens 3 can also be telescopically displaceable relative to the holder 4. According to an embodiment not shown, a combination of an adjusting device 16, as shown in Fig. 3, and a focusing device 15 as shown in Fig. 4 can be used.In this embodiment, the element that can be displaced by the adjustment device 16 is designed as a focusing device 15, in particular according to Fig. 4. This allows the lens 3 to be selectively displaced in front of and beside the camera light source 1, and additionally, the degree of focusing can be changed.
[0075] Fig. 5 shows a further embodiment of a device. The device comprises a holder 4 and a lens 3. The lens 3 is arranged in a lens opening 14 and attached to the holder 4. In the present embodiment, an adjustment device 16 is provided, which allows the lens 3 to be pushed in front of and next to the camera light source 1. In the present illustration, the lens 3 is positioned next to the camera light source 1. Alternatively, the lens 3 can also be rigidly attached to the holder 4, or a focusing device 15 can be provided additionally or alternatively, as shown in Fig. 4.
[0076] In this embodiment, the holder 4 comprises several positioning elements 6.
[0077] One of the positioning elements 6 is designed to enable positioning of the holder 4 on the camera module 17. In some mobile phones 2, not only the camera lenses 18 but possibly also a camera module 17 protrude from the housing of the mobile phone 2. Positioning via the positioning element 6 can thus take place on this camera module 17 or on its outer contour. Additionally or alternatively, positioning can also take place on the camera lens 18 via at least one positioning element 6. In the present embodiment, the holder 4 is positioned both on the camera lenses and on the camera module 17. This enables particularly good and precise positioning of the holder 4 relative to the mobile phone 2 and thus also of the lens 3 in the area of the camera light source 1.
[0078] Fig. 5 shows another possible feature of the holder 4, which can also be provided in principle in the other embodiments. For example, the holder 4 has a recess 19 in the edge region. This gives the holder 4 a beveled shape at the edge, for example. This makes it possible to combine a conventional mobile phone case with the device. In particular, the holder 4 can be held on the mobile phone 2 by the mobile phone case (not shown).
[0079] Fig. 6 shows a schematic view in which parts of the illustrated components are in section. The holder 4 of a device is attached to a mobile phone. The holder 4 holds a lens 3 in the region of an invisible camera source 1. The holder 4 comprises a positioning element 6, which in this embodiment is designed as a recess 7. The positioning element 6 allows the holder 4 and the lens 3 to be positioned on a camera extension 5. In this embodiment, the camera extension 5 is the camera lens 18 of the mobile phone 2. The holder 4 has a specific thickness 10. In the present embodiment, the thickness 10 of the holder 4 is dimensioned such that the camera extension 5, and in particular the camera lens 18, is protected.
[0080] Additionally, a mobile phone protective cover is attached to the mobile phone 2. The mobile phone protective cover includes a recess 19, through which it is adapted to the shape of the holder 4. In the present embodiment, the holder 4 can be held by the mobile phone protective cover. In particular, the holder 4 can be positioned via or on the mobile phone protective cover. Alternatively or additionally, the device can be held by the mobile phone protective cover in the region of the camera light source 1. Preferably, the holder 4 is positioned via a positioning element 6 for positioning on a camera extension 5.
[0081] Fig. 7 shows a schematic sectional view of the functioning of the lens 3, as it can be present in all embodiments. The light radiation 8, represented as a family of light rays, emanates from a camera light source 1. In all embodiments, the camera light source 1 is preferably the camera light source of a mobile phone. As a rule, this is an LED light source. A relatively widely scattered light radiation 8 emanates from this camera light source 1. The lens 3 then focuses this light radiation 8 so that the illumination range of the camera light source 1 is improved. The lens has a lens height 11 and a lens diameter 12. The lens is preferably an aspheric lens. The lens is preferably a plano-convex lens. In order to keep the lens height 11 low, the material of the lens preferably has a high refractive index, in particular greater than or equal to 1.55.Preferably, the refractive index of the lens material may be less than or equal to 2.
[0082] The shape of the lens directly influences the focusing characteristics. In particular, it is advantageous to keep the lens height 11 small compared to the lens diameter 12. This can improve the handling of the mobile phone.
[0083] According to a preferred embodiment, in a range between 4 mm and 10 mm lens diameter 12, the lens height 11 is approximately 2.5 mm smaller than the lens diameter 12. For a lens diameter 12 of 10 mm, the lens height 11 is thus approximately 7.5 mm. For a lens diameter 12 of 5 mm, the lens height 11 is approximately 2.5 mm.
[0084] As an example, a contour of the lens curvature can be specified by a polynomial function, as shown in Fig. 7. An example polynomial function for a lens material 3 with a refractive index of 1.55 and a lens diameter 12 of 6 mm would be: f(x)=0.00002247077863821 x A (10)+0.000009763756523758 x A (9)- 0.0004938691527935 x A (8)-0.0001787243345044 x A (7)+0.002670619108610 x A (6)+0.001152957857449 x A (5)-0.01430956934597 x A (4)-0.002607704635167 x A (3)- 0.2425684628509 x A (2)+0.0005941465602262 x+3.2400152
