Abstract
Description
[0001] TRAINING MATERIAL OF PREGNANCY CALCULATION WITH FUNDAL HEIGHT
[0002] Technical Field
[0003] The invention relates to a training material of pregnancy calculation with fundal height to be used in determining the developmental week of the fetus for the evaluation of the health of the fetus in the womb and for the early detection of problems that may occur.
[0004] State of the Art
[0005] Evaluation of the health of the fetus in the womb is very important for early detection of problems that may occur. There are many screening programs which can assess the health of the fetus. One of these is to evaluate the development of the fetus, fetal health such as gestational age and weight by measuring the fundus-pubis height with the Leopold maneuver. The symphysis pubis is a cartilage joint located between the pubic bones. The fundus is the upper part of the uterus, which is the top region.
[0006] An accuracy rate of 60-75% of fetal weight has been reported with fundus-pubis measurement. As a result of the fundal height measurement, the developmental week of the fetus is determined. The difference between the week according to fundal height and the week according to the last menstrual period indicates deviations from normal.
[0007] Ultrasound technology can provide better accurate results in assessing fetal health, but international guidelines recommend only three times throughout pregnancy (unless medically necessary). For this reason, the evaluation of Fundal height may be more convenient since it is not an invasive procedure and has no negative effects on the fetus and mother.
[0008] SF height is a technique that involves measuring the womb from the symphyseal pubis to the uterine fundus with a tape measure. The measurement is plotted on a curve and compared with the distribution of the reference population. Apart from the tape measure measurement of the SF height, measurement can also be performed by finger calculation. In this measurement, the fundal height is calculated weekly according to the umbilicus level. However, the umbilicus should be determined as the standard week and measurements should be performed with finger calculation accordingly. Fundal height measurements can help the midwife identify serious pregnancy complications. Therefore, accurate fundal height measurements are essential for safe clinical practice. This measurement is also made the fundus level according to the umbilicus.
[0009] Currently, only visual drawings are available for fundal height measurements, however, the use of these visual drawings is less and are not sufficient for demonstration to the mother during pregnancy follow-up. As a result, the need for the training material of pregnancy calculation with fundal height which eliminates the disadvantages of the present art, and the inadequacy of the existing solutions have made it necessary to make a development in the relevant technical field.
[0010] Summary of the Invention

[0030] Detailed Description of the Invention
[0031] In this detailed description, the training material (100) of pregnancy calculation with fundal height to be used in determining the developmental week of the fetus for the evaluation of the health of the fetus in the womb and for the early detection of the problems that may occur, is explained by way of example only for a better understanding of the subject and in a way that does not create any limiting effect.
[0032] The training material (100) shown in Fig. 1 has been developed to facilitate and standardize the measurements in the calculation of pregnancy with fundal height. The training material (100) of pregnancy calculation with fundal height has a week chart (120) showing a movable fundal height, and the demonstration of the gestational week can be provided by changing the position of the fundal height in this week chart (120). The training material (100) provides convenience to the midwife when monitoring the pregnancy, especially during the provision of primary health care services, as well as to the mother in visualizing where the gestational week can be in the abdomen. In antenatal care, pregnant women are educated about the growth of the baby and provided with demonstrations.
[0033] The aforementioned training material (100) includes a diagram on which the mother's xiphoid protrusion (lower part of the breastbone), umbilicus (belly button) and symphysis pubis (pelvis) are marked, a body (110) containing a chart with the fundal height according to the gestational week at the bottom of this diagram, and a moving week chart (120) positioned at the back of the body (120) with numbers indicating the gestational week marked thereon. The estimated position of the fundus, preferably at the 12th, 16th, 20th, 24th, 30th, 38thand 40thweeks, is indicated on said body (1 10). In the middle part of the diagram depicting the mother's body located on the body (1 10) shown in Fig. 1 , there is an abdominal cavity (111) through which the week chart (120) can be observed. In the lower part of said abdominal cavity (1 11) there is a position marker (112) to show the approximate position of the baby in the womb according to the week information found in the week chart (120). The positioner arm (113) placed from the lower part of said body (110) ensures that the week chart (120) is placed in the abdominal cavity (111) according to the week of pregnancy and is supported while moving. Preferably the 12th, 16th, 20th, 24th, 30th, 38thand 40thweeks are marked on the week chart (120) shown in Fig. 2. The handle (122) placed in the handle slot (121) extending from the middle part of said week chart (120) towards the right and left edges thereof, such that it protrudes out of the body (110), enables the week chart (120) to be moved in the abdominal cavity (111) and the estimated position of the fundus is shown. When using said training material (100), firstly the week chart (120) is placed in the body (110). Then, according to the mother's gestational week, the week chart (120) is moved so that the position marker (112) on the body (110) coincides with the appropriate week on the week chart (120). When the appropriate week (120) is coincided with the position marker (112) on the week chart (120), the handle (121) extending from both sides of the week chart (120) to the outside of the body (110) indicates the estimated position of the fundus in the chart on the body (110). This position can be followed visually from the diagram on the body (110) as well as from the chart positioned at the bottom. For example, the position marker for the 20thweek of pregnancy (112) is placed over the number "20" on the week chart (120). When the position marker (112) shows the number "20", the handle (121) extending from either side of the week chart (120) shows two fingers below the belly button in the abdominal cavity (111).
[0034] The training material (100) of pregnancy calculation with fundal height provides information to mothers about where babies should be in the abdomen according to their development with a moving week chart (120) and therefore mothers can consult a specialist earlier in case of deviation from normal. The training material (100) of pregnancy calculation with fundal height strengthens the visual expression for the mother and midwives and gynecologists who monitor pregnant women in the clinic, by using it as a training kit in the evaluation of fetal health.
