Gloves for people with long fingernails

Abstract

A glove with extended fingertips to accommodate nails of different shapes and sizes. Users may have long natural or artificial fingernails, and the present invention allows them to wear any traditional type of glove, such as work gloves, warm gloves, and touchscreen-compatible gloves, maintaining access to their individual fingers and fingertips. The fingertips of the present invention may also accommodate thicker nails or nails with charms.

[0003] The present invention relates generally to gloves. More specifically, the present invention relates to gloves with space at the fingertips to accommodate people with long fingernails.

[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0005] People can have long fingernails for a variety of reasons, typically for style and aesthetics. Long fingernails can be either real or artificial and may be different shapes and lengths. In certain situations, long nails may be inconvenient. For example, in cold weather, a person may want to wear gloves to keep their hands warm, but many existing gloves would not fit over long nails. Some gloves exist which have holes through which a nail can protrude, while others may have extra long fingers to provide enough space. However, the former has an issue because the hole still exposes the hand to the cold. The latter also has an issue because it does not allow the user access to use their fingertips. Large mittens would have a similar issue.

[0006] The present invention seeks to solve the issues presented by existing gloves by providing gloves with extra space at the fingertips. The extra space conforms to the shape of a long nail, while maintaining the shape of the fingertip itself. This shape allows a user to be able to maintain individual use of their fingers and fingertips while providing the same warmth as a standard glove.

[0007] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention is a glove shaped to provide space for a user with long fingernails. The glove conforms to the shape of the hand and fingers, but the fingertip is extended to create a space in which long fingernails can be inserted.

[0012] The present invention is a glove comprising space at the fingertips which conform to the shape of a long fingernail. The space can be modified to fit a variety of nail lengths and shapes. This includes long nails that are either natural or artificial, and the space can further be modified to accommodate nails with charms. The hand and finger portions of the glove are similar to a standard glove. The fingernail of the glove is a space extending from the top portion of the fingertip. The overall shape of the glove will therefore be similar to the shape of a human hand with long fingernails. This allows the user access to their individual fingers and fingertips. The area which accommodates the longer fingernails and the distal phalanx of the hand can be soft-shelled, soft-shelled with a support structure, or hard-shelled.

[0013] Several embodiments of the present invention are contemplated. There exist many different types of gloves, such as work gloves, thicker gloves for more warmth, thinner gloves for greater finger mobility, and touchscreen gloves which allow the user to use a touch screen while wearing the gloves. Each existing type of glove may be improved by the present invention, allowing users with long fingernails to use a variety of types of gloves. Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A glove comprising, fingers; and fingertips, the fingertips being extended to accommodate the shapes and length of fingernails.

2. The glove of claim 1, wherein the fingertips are shaped to accommodate long fingernails of different shapes and sizes within the glove, allowing the user access to individual fingers and fingertips while using the glove.

3. The glove of claim 1, wherein the outside of the fingertips comprise a touch screen pad, allowing the user to operate a touch screen while wearing the glove.

4. The glove of claim 1, wherein the fingertips are shaped to accommodate fingernails with charms.
