[0218] In some embodiments, the terminal includes, for example, a mobile phone, a wearable device, an Internet of Things device, a car with communication function, a smart car, a tablet computer, a computer with wireless transceiver function, a virtual reality (VR) terminal device, an augmented reality (AR) terminal device, a wireless terminal device in industrial control, a wireless terminal device in self-driving, a wireless terminal device in remote medical surgery, a wireless terminal device in a smart grid, a wireless terminal device in transportation safety, a wireless terminal device in a smart city, and at least one of a wireless terminal device in a smart home, but is not limited thereto. It is understandable that the communication system described in the embodiment of the present disclosure is for the purpose of more clearly illustrating the technical solution of the embodiment of the present disclosure, and does not constitute a limitation on the technical solution proposed in the embodiment of the present disclosure. A person skilled in the art will know that with the evolution of the system architecture,

[0219] With the emergence of new business scenarios, the technical solutions proposed in the embodiments of the present disclosure are also applicable to similar technical problems. The following embodiments of the present disclosure can be applied to the communication system 100 shown in Figure 1, or part of the subject, but are not limited thereto. The subjects shown in Figure 1 are examples. The communication system may include all or part of the subjects in Figure 1, or may include other subjects outside Figure 1. The number and form of each subject are arbitrary. The connection relationship between the subjects is an example. The subjects may be connected or disconnected. The connection may be in any manner, which may be a direct connection or an indirect connection, and may be a wired connection or a wireless connection.

[0220] The embodiments of the present disclosure may be applied to Long Term Evolution (LTE), LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), LTE-Beyond (LTE-B), SUPER 3G, IMT-Advanced, 4th generation mobile communication system (4G), 5th generation mobile communication system (5G), 6th generation mobile communication system (6G), 5G New Radio (NR), Future Radio Access (FRA), New-Radio Access Technology (RAT), New Radio (NR), New Radio Access (NX), Future Generation Radio Access (FX), Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM (registered trademark)), CDMA2000, Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB), IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi (registered trademark)), IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX (registered trademark)), IEEE 802.20, Ultra-WideBand (UWB), Bluetooth (registered trademark), Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) networks, Device-to-Device (D2D) systems, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) systems, Internet of Things (IoT) systems, Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), systems utilizing other communication methods, and next-generation systems based on and extending these methods. Furthermore, multiple systems may be combined (for example, a combination of LTE or LTE-A with 5G).

[0221] In some embodiments, the first network element may be a location management function (LMF) network element.

[0222] In some embodiments, the second network element may be an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) network element.

[0223] In some embodiments, the LMF network element or the terminal may trigger the establishment of a user plane connection. The terminal and the LMF network element may maintain the established user plane connection. The LMF network element may modify or terminate the user plane connection established between the terminal and the LMF network element.

[0224] In some embodiments, the LMF network element can send its user plane information, such as an IP address or a fully qualified domain name (FQDN), to the terminal via the DL NAS TRANSPORT message of the AMF network element. If the LMF network element sends its FQDN to the terminal, a DNS server / resolver is used to resolve the IP address of the LMF network element (e.g., EASDF or local DNS for local LMF network element address resolution). The terminal uses a terminal route selection policy (UE Route Selection Policy, URSP) including user plane positioning related PDU session parameters, such as a dedicated data network name (DNN) and network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI) to establish a PDU session for user plane positioning. The Session Management Function (SMF) shall select the PDU Session Anchor-User Plane Function (PSA-UPF) network element connected to the LMF network element for the PDU session based on the S-NSSAI, DNN and terminal location information. The PDU Session Anchor-User Plane Function (PSA-UPF) network element shall be located at the central site or the local site.

[0225] In some embodiments, session interruption for local LMF services for user plane positioning can be supported by using the IP address / network prefix of the local LMF and its DNAI to pre-configure the Session Management Function (SMF), which is used to locate the dedicated PDU session in a specific service area where the local PDU Session Anchor (PSA) and UL CL / BP are inserted.

[0226] In some embodiments, if the target terminal does not have a user plane connection with the LMF network element, the LMF network element may trigger the establishment of a user plane connection after receiving a location request from the AMF network element. If the terminal supports user plane positioning, the AMF network element also subscribes to the status of the LCS user plane connection of the target terminal from the LMF network element using the Nlmf_Location_UP Subscribe message.

[0227] It can be understood that the communication system described in the embodiment of the present disclosure is for the purpose of more clearly illustrating the technical solution of the embodiment of the present disclosure, and does not constitute a limitation on the technical solution proposed in the embodiment of the present disclosure. Ordinary technicians in this field can know that with the evolution of the system architecture and the emergence of new business scenarios, the technical solution proposed in the embodiment of the present disclosure is also applicable to similar technical problems.

[0228] FIG2 is an interactive diagram of a communication method according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG2 , the method includes:

[0229] Step 201: The LMF network element 102 and the UE 101 conduct a second LCS (LoCation Service) session on the control plane.

[0230] In the field of wireless communications, the radio interface protocol stack can be divided into two planes: the control plane and the user plane. The user plane is responsible for user data processing, while the control plane is responsible for control and management such as connection establishment, mobility management, and security.

[0231] During the process of LCS session between UE101 and LMF network element 102 on the control plane, the LCS session is established between LMF and UE101, and between UE101 and AMF network element 103, Routing ID (routing identifier, i.e., second identifier) or Routing information (routing information) is used to identify the LCS session, that is, Routing ID or Routing information is used as the LCS session identifier between UE101 and AMF network element 103 on the control plane; and, between AMF network element 103 and LMF network element 102, Correlation ID (correlation identifier, i.e., first identifier) is used to identify the LCS session and LMF network element 102, that is, Correlation ID is used as the LCS session identifier between AMF network element 103 and LMF network element 102 on the control plane, and Correlation ID is used as the network element identifier of LMF network element 102. For example, when the AMF network element 103 receives the message and Routing ID sent by UE101, the AMF network element 103 can map the Routing ID to the Correlation ID and send the message to the LMF network element 102 identified by the Correlation ID. The Routing ID (or Routing information) and the Correlation ID can not only identify the LMF network element 102, but also identify the LCS session between the LMF network element 102 and the UE101.

[0232] Optionally, for a Routing ID and a Correlation ID that have a mapping relationship, the value of the Routing ID may be the same as or different from the value of the Correlation ID. When the value of the Routing ID is the same as the value of the Correlation ID, there must be a mapping relationship between the Routing ID and the Correlation ID. When the value of the Routing ID is different from the value of the Correlation ID, the corresponding value of the Correlation ID can be determined based on the value of the Routing ID and the mapping relationship, and then the corresponding LMF and the LCS session to which the current message belongs can be determined; or, the corresponding value of the Routing ID can be determined based on the value of the Correlation ID and the mapping relationship, and then the LCS session to which the current message belongs can be determined.

[0233] During the LCS session between UE 101 and LMF network element 102 in the user plane, it is necessary to add an LCS session identifier in the uplink / downlink positioning service user plane transmission message to identify the LCS session between LMF and UE 101. However, when UE 101 transmits the same LCS session using the control plane and user plane at the same time (for example, when switching from the control plane to the user plane due to congestion of the AMF network element 103, switching from the user plane to the control plane due to unstable connection, when UE 101 uses the control plane and user plane for the same LCS session, etc.), UE 101 and LMF need to recognize that the LCS session identifier in the user plane and the Correlation ID and Routing ID in the control plane are all used for the same LCS session.

[0234] Optionally, during the process of conducting a second LCS session between UE101 and LMF102 network element on the control plane (i.e., during the message transmission process of the second LCS session), UE101 and LMF network element 102 may transmit messages through AMF network element 103. During the process of conducting a second LCS session between UE101 and LMF network element 102 on the control plane, operations related to LCS (positioning service) may be performed, including but not limited to event report operations, periodic triggered invoke operations, and MS (mobile station) cancelling delayed location operations.

[0235] Optionally, the Routing ID (routing identifier, i.e., the first identifier) or Routing information (routing information) may be used as the LCS session identifier of the second LCS session between the UE and the AMF network element; and the Correlation ID (correlation identifier, i.e., the second identifier) may be used as the LCS session identifier of the second LCS session between the AMF network element and the LMF network element. The Routing ID and the Correlation ID may be allocated by the LMF network element or the AMF network element.

[0236] Specifically, the allocation entity of the Routing ID and the Correlation ID is associated with the initiator of the second LCS session.

[0237] (1) If the second LCS session is initiated by the UE, the Routing ID and Correlation ID allocation process includes the following two parts:

[0238] (1) ① The UE sends an UL NAS TRANSPORT message to the AMF network element (wherein the container in the UL NAS TRANSPORT message carries a specific LCS session-related message (e.g., an LCS message or an LPP message (LTE Positioning Protocol, LTE Positioning Protocol; where LTE stands for Long Term Evolution)); ② After receiving the UL NAS TRANSPORT message, the AMF network element determines the specific message content carried in the container in the UL NAS TRANSPORT message; and allocates a Correlation ID, using the Correlation ID as the LCS session identifier for the second LCS session between the AMF network element and the LMF network element; ③ The AMF network element sends the content and the Correlation ID carried in the container of the UL NAS TRANSPORT message to the LMF network element; ④ After receiving the message sent by the AMF, the LMF network element saves the Correlation ID in the message and uses the Correlation ID as the identifier of the second LCS session on the control plane. In the subsequent message transmission process for the second LCS session, the Correlation ID is carried, and the Correlation ID is used as the identifier of the second LCS session based on the Correlation ID. The ID identifies whether the received message is associated with the second LCS session.

[0239] Among them, the AMF network element can carry the content carried in the container of the UL NAS TRANSPORT message and the Correlation ID in the Namf_Communication_N1MessageNotify message (N1 reference point notification message) or the Nlmf_Location_Determination message (positioning determination message), and then send the Namf_Communication_N1MessageNotify message or the Nlmf_Location_Determination message to the LMF network element.

[0240] (2)①The LMF network element sends a Namf_Communication_N1N2MessageTransfer message (N1N2 reference point transmission message) to the AMF network element. The Namf_Communication_N1N2MessageTransfer carries the specific message content and Correlation ID.②After receiving the Namf_Communication_N1N2MessageTransfer message, the AMF network element maps the Correlation ID in the Namf_Communication_N1N2MessageTransfer to a Routing ID, and uses the Routing ID as the LCS session identifier of the second LCS session between the AMF network element and the UE.③The AMF network element carries the Routing ID and the specific message content in the Namf_Communication_N1N2MessageTransfer in a DL NAS TRANSPORT message, and forwards the DL NAS TRANSPORT message to the UE.④After receiving the DL NAS TRANSPORT message, the UE saves the Routing ID in the DL NAS TRANSPORT message and uses the Routing ID as the identifier of the second LCS session on the control plane. During the subsequent message transmission process of the second LCS session, the Routing ID is carried, and whether the received message is associated with the second LCS session is identified based on the Routing ID.

[0241] (2) If the second LCS session is initiated through the LMF network element, the process of allocating the Routing ID and Correlation ID includes the following two parts:

[0242] (1)①The LMF network element allocates a Correlation ID, uses the Correlation ID as the LCS session identifier of the second LCS session between the AMF network element and the LMF network element, and sends a Namf_Communication_N1N2MessageTransfer message to the AMF network element. The Namf_Communication_N1N2MessageTransfer message carries the Correlation ID and specific message content.②After receiving the Namf_Communication_N1N2MessageTransfer message, the AMF network element maps the Correlation ID in the Namf_Communication_N1N2MessageTransfer message to a Routing ID, and uses the Routing ID as the LCS session identifier of the second LCS session between the AMF network element and the UE.③The AMF network element carries the message content and Routing ID carried in the Namf_Communication_N1N2MessageTransfer message in a DL NAS TRANSPORT message and forwards the DL NAS TRANSPORT message to the UE. The UE saves the Routing ID in the DL NAS TRANSPORT message and uses the Routing ID in the Namf_Communication_N1N2MessageTransfer message as the LCS session identifier of the second LCS session between the AMF network element and the UE. The ID serves as the identifier of the second LCS session on the control plane. In the subsequent message transmission process of the LCS session, the Routing ID is carried, and the Routing ID is used to identify whether the received message is associated with the second LCS session.

[0243] (2)①The UE sends a UL NAS TRANSPORT message to the AMF network element. The UL NAS TRANSPORT message carries the Routing ID and specific message content.②The AMF network element maps the Routing ID in the UL NAS TRANSPORT message to the Correlation ID, uses the Correlation ID as the LCS session identifier of the second LCS session between the AMF network element and the LMF network element, and sends the content and Correlation ID carried in the container of the UL NAS TRANSPORT message to the LMF network element.③The LMF network element receives the Namf_Communication_N1MessageNotify message.

[0244] Among them, as mentioned above, the AMF network element can carry the content carried in the container of the UL NAS TRANSPORT message and the Correlation ID in the Namf_Communication_N1MessageNotify message (N1 reference point notification message) or the Nlmf_Location_Determination message (positioning determination message), and then send the Namf_Communication_N1MessageNotify message or the Nlmf_Location_Determination message to the LMF network element.

[0245] Step 202: The LMF network element 102 decides to use the user plane to conduct a first LCS session with the terminal 101, wherein the messages transmitted in the first LCS session include LCS session-related messages that have not been transmitted between the UE 101 and the LMF network element 102 on the control plane.

[0246] The LMF network element 102 may decide to use the user plane to conduct the first LCS session with the LMF network element 102 under any of the following conditions:

[0247] LMF network element 102 fails to send a message to UE 101;

[0248] or

[0249] The LMF network element 102 decides to use the user plane to conduct the first LCS session with the UE 101 according to the data size to be transmitted to the UE 101 .

[0250] Optionally, the failure of the LMF network element 102 to send a message to the UE 101 may include congestion of the AMF network element 103. Specifically, the congestion of the AMF network element 103 includes: a NAS (Non Access Stratum) message sent by the LMF network element 102 to the UE 101 via the AMF network element 103 is not accepted by the UE 101, and the AMF network element 103 indicates congestion to the LMF network element 102.

[0251] Optionally, the LMF network element 102 decides to use the user plane to conduct the first LCS session with UE101 based on the amount of data to be transmitted to UE101, which can specifically include: the LMF network element 102 decides to use the user plane to conduct the first LCS session with UE101 when determining that the amount of data to be transmitted to UE101 is greater than the preset data amount.

[0252] In some embodiments, after the LMF network element 102 decides to use the user plane to conduct the first LCS session with the terminal 101, it determines the first LCS session identifier; wherein, the messages transmitted in the first LCS session include LCS session-related messages that have not been completed between the UE 101 and the LMF network element 102 on the control plane; the first LCS session identifier is used to identify the first LCS session.

[0253] Optionally, after UE101 establishes a user plane connection with the LMF network element 102, the first LCS session is actually the same LCS session as the second LCS session, and the messages transmitted in the first LCS session include LCS session-related messages that have not been fully transmitted in the second LCS session.

[0254] As an embodiment, assuming that the LCS session-related message transmitted in the second LCS session is a periodic event report (Event Report) message, the specific period is 5 periods. When UE101 decides to use the user plane to conduct the first LCS session with the LMF network element 102, the terminal 101 has transmitted 3 periods of event report messages with the LMF network element 102 on the control plane (i.e., in the second LCS session). After UE101 establishes a user plane connection with the LMF network element 102, the remaining 2 periods of event report messages are transmitted on the connected user plane.

[0255] As another embodiment, assuming that the second LCS session is a MO-LR (Mobile Originated Location Request, terminal-initiated positioning request) session, when UE101 decides to use the user plane to conduct the first LCS session with the LMF network element 102, the terminal UE101 has transmitted the LCS message of the MO-LR process with the LMF network element 102 on the control plane (i.e., in the second LCS session). After UE101 establishes a user plane connection with the LMF network element 102, it continues to transmit the LPP message of the MO-LR session on the connected user plane.

[0256] In some embodiments, the first LCS session identifier includes a first identifier or a second LCS session identifier;

[0257] Among them, the first identifier is used to identify the second LCS session conducted between the LMF network element 102 and the UE 101 on the control plane; the second LCS session identifier includes the LCS session identifier allocated by the LMF network element 102 to the first LCS session.

[0258] That is to say, the LMF network element 102 can allocate an LCS session identifier (i.e., a second LCS session identifier) for the first LCS session, or use the Correlation ID as the LCS session identifier of the first LCS session.

[0259] In some embodiments, the LMF network element 102 associates the first LCS session identifier and / or the first identifier with the first LCS session.

[0260] Optionally, when the LMF network element 102 uses the Correlation ID as the first LCS session identifier, the LMF network element 102 may associate the Correlation ID with the first LCS session (or may associate the first LCS session identifier and the first identifier with the first LCS session).

[0261] When the LMF network element 102 allocates a second LCS session identifier to the first LCS session, the LMF network element 102 may associate the second LCS session identifier with the first LCS session (or may associate the first LCS session identifier and the first identifier with the first LCS session).

[0262] Step 203: The LMF network element 102 sends a first message to the AMF network element 103; wherein the first message includes: a user plane connection establishment command message, the first identifier and at least one of the first LCS session identifier.

[0263] Optionally, the first message may include Namf_Communication_N1N2MessageTransfer (N1N2 reference point transfer message).

[0264] Optionally, when the LMF network element 102 uses the Correlation ID as the first LCS session identifier, the first message includes: a user plane connection establishment command message and the Correlation ID (the first message may also be a user plane connection establishment command, a first LCS session identifier and a Correlation ID).

[0265] When the LMF network element 102 allocates a second LCS session identifier for the first LCS session, the first message includes: a user plane connection establishment command message, the first identifier and the second LCS session identifier (the sixth message can also be a user plane connection establishment command, a first LCS session identifier and a Correlation ID).

[0266] Optionally, the user plane connection command message may include the first LCS session identifier. Wherein, in the case where the user plane connection command message includes the first LCS session identifier, the first message may include a user plane connection establishment command message and a Correlation ID.

[0267] Step 204: The AMF network element 103 maps the first identifier to a second identifier according to a preset correspondence; and sends a second message to the UE 101; wherein the second message includes: the user plane connection establishment command message, the second identifier and at least one of the first LCS session identifier.

[0268] Optionally, the second identifier includes a Routing ID. The preset corresponding relationship is a mapping relationship between the Correlation ID and the Routing ID determined by an allocation entity of the Correlation ID and the Routing ID.

[0269] Optionally, the second message may include a DL NAS TRANSPORT (downlink non-access stratum transport message) message.

[0270] Optionally, after the AMF network element 103 determines that the first message includes a user plane connection establishment command message and a Correlation ID, and maps the Correlation ID to the Routing ID according to a preset correspondence, if the value of the Routing ID is the same as the value of the Correlation ID, the second message may include the user plane connection establishment command message and the first identifier, or the second message may include the user plane establishment command message and the first LCS session identifier.

[0271] In some embodiments, after the UE101 receives the second message sent by the AMF network element 103, it determines that the second identifier is associated with the second LCS session, and the UE101 associates the first LCS session identifier and / or the second identifier to the first LCS session.
