AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

In heterogeneous wireless communication networks where one transmit/receive point (TRP) serves uplink transmissions, there is a lack of clarity on how to perform uplink power control and power headroom reporting, as the UE may need to transmit signals to two TRPs, and pathloss determination is based on measured and configured offsets, leading to unclear power control loops and reset procedures.

Method used

The UE is configured with joint/downlink/ulink transmission configuration indicators and pathloss offsets, receiving pathloss reference signals to determine uplink transmissions based on these configurations, enabling power control for uplink-only TRP scenarios.

Benefits of technology

Enables effective uplink power control and power headroom reporting in heterogeneous networks with one TRP serving UL transmissions, maintaining power control loops and adjusting transmit power accurately.

Description

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING UPLINK POWER CONTROL WITH UPLINK-ONLY TRANSMIT / RECEIVE POINTTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates generally to wireless communication, and more particularly, to performing power control in uplink (UL) transmissions using an up-link only transmit / receive point.BACKGROUND

[0002] The Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specifies a radio interface referred to as fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR) (5G NR) . An architecture for a 5G NR wireless communication system includes a 5G core (5GC) network, a 5G radio access network (5G-RAN) , a user equipment (5G UE) , etc. The 5G NR architecture seeks to provide increased data rates, decreased latency, and / or increased capacity compared to prior generation cellular communication systems.

[0003] Wireless communication systems, in general, provide various telecommunication services (e.g., telephony, video, data, messaging, etc. ) based on multiple-access technologies, such as orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) technologies, that support communication with multiple UEs. Improvements in mobile broadband continue the progression of such wireless communication technologies.

[0004] BRIEF SUMMARY

[0005] The following presents a simplified summary of one or more aspects in order to provide a basic understanding of such aspects. This summary is not an extensive overview of all contemplated aspects. This summary neither identifies key or critical elements of all aspects nor delineates the scope of any or all aspects. Its sole purpose is to present some concepts of one or more aspects in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.

[0006] This disclosure generally relates to reporting power headroom (PH) using multiple transmit / receive points (M-TRP) . The disclosure includes multiple uplink (UL)  / downlink (DL) scenarios (e.g., UL M-TRP multiple-downlink control information (M-DCI) and / or single-downlink control information (S-DCI) ) in a heterogeneous network. In some aspects, the heterogeneous network may include two  TRPs in which one TRP only serves UL transmissions. In other words, the heterogenous network may include two TRPs in which DL operation is handled by a single TRP (S-TRP) while UL operation may be handled by one or both TRPs.

[0007] In some aspects, the heterogeneous network operates in a first scenario in which the UE transmits only a sounding reference signal (SRS) for antenna switching (AS) to a first TRP and transmits a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) , physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) , physical random access channel (PRACH) , and / or an SRS to a second TRP. The transmission of SRS for AS to the first TRP is optional. There could be no UL transmission to the first TRP. In the second scenario, the UE transmits on PUSCH, PUCCH, PRACH, and / or an SRS to both the first TRP and the second TRP.

[0008] However, in the first and second scenarios where one TRP only serves UL transmission, it is unclear how to perform UL power control and how to perform PH reporting since the UE may need to transmit two Type 3 PH in the UL-only TRP scenarios. The PH reporting triggering condition may also be modified since the pathloss determination may be based on a measured pathloss and / or a configured / indicated pathloss offset.

[0009] In the first and second scenarios where one TRP only serves UL transmission, there could be two closed loops for SRS power control, which are independent of closed loops for PUSCH power control (PC) . Given that there may be one SRS PC closed loop independent of PUSCH to be introduced for such scenarios, how to maintain the SRS PC closed loop and receive transmit power control (TPC) command are issues to be solved. Also, the reset procedure of a power control adjustment state may be adjusted in the UL-only TRP scenario. In some aspects, the UE may be configured by a network entity with one or more joint or downlink or uplink (joint / downlink / uplink) transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states, the first / second scenario, a pathloss offset, a power headroom report (PHR) including Type 1 PH for PUSCH, Type 3 PH for SRS, and up to three closed loops for SRS in the first scenario and up to four closed loops for SRS in the second scenario.

[0010] The UE may determine the Type 1 / Type 3 PH based on the measured pathloss from the first TRP plus the pathloss offset. Since the second TRP does not transmit DL signals for the UE to measure a pathloss, the UE may receive a pathloss offset indicator from the first TRP.

[0011] In some aspects, the UE may receive TPC commands from the network entity indicating power control parameters for multiple (e.g., up to three or four) power control loops used to transmit multiple SRSs (e.g., SRS for antenna switching (AS)  / beam management (BM) and / or SRS for codebook (CB)  / non-codebook (NCB) based PUSCH transmission) .

[0012] In some aspects, the network entity may schedule the uplink transmissions to the first TRP and / or the second TRP based on a first coresetPoolIndex and / or a second coresetPoolIndex. In some aspects, the network entity may schedule the uplink transmissions based on codepoints in downlink control information (DCI) (e.g., a TRP indicator and / or a sounding reference signal resource indicator (SRI) ) .

[0013] According to some aspects, a UE receives a configuration indicating a first pathloss offset for uplink power control and one or more joint / DL / UL TCI states for downlink operation in a single transmission reception mode and for uplink operation in a multiple transmission reception mode. The UE receives a pathloss reference signal, PL-RS, for at least one of a first scenario or a second scenario. The UE transmits an uplink transmission based on a joint / UL TCI state from the one or more configured joint / DL / UL TCI states and at a transmit power based on the PL-RS and the first pathloss offset.

[0014] According to some aspects, a network entity transmits, to a UE, a configuration indicating a first pathloss offset for uplink power control and one or more joint / DL / UL TCI states for downlink operation in a single transmission reception mode and for uplink operation in a multiple transmission reception mode. The network entity transmits, to the UE, a PL-RS, for at least one of a first scenario or a second scenario. The network entity receives, from the UE, an uplink transmission based on a joint / UL TCI state from the one or more configured joint / DL / UL TCI states and at a transmit power based on the PL-RS and the first pathloss offset.

[0015] Technical benefits of the present disclosure include enabling a UE to perform uplink power control for uplink transmissions in a heterogeneous network that includes two TRPs in which one TRP only serves UL transmissions.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0026] FIG. 1 illustrates a diagram 100 of a wireless communications system associated with a plurality of cells 190. The wireless communications system includes user equipments (UEs) 102 and base stations / network entities 104. Some base stations may include an aggregated base station architecture and other base stations may include a disaggregated base station architecture. The aggregated base station architecture utilizes a radio protocol stack that is physically or logically integrated within a single radio access network (RAN) node. A disaggregated base station architecture utilizes a protocol stack that is physically or logically distributed among two or more units (e.g., radio unit (RU) 106, distributed unit (DU) 108, central unit (CU) 110) . For example, a CU 110 is implemented within a RAN node, and one or more DUs 108 may be co-located with the CU 110, or alternatively, may be geographically or virtually distributed throughout one or multiple other RAN nodes. The DUs 108 may be implemented to communicate with one or more RUs 106. Any of the RU 106, the  DU 108 and the CU 110 can be implemented as virtual units, such as a virtual radio unit (VRU) , a virtual distributed unit (VDU) , or a virtual central unit (VCU) . The base station / network entity 104 (e.g., an aggregated base station or disaggregated units of the base station, such as the RU 106 or the DU 108) , may be referred to as a transmission reception point (TRP) .

[0027] Operations of the base station 104 and / or network designs may be based on aggregation characteristics of base station functionality. For example, disaggregated base station architectures are utilized in an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open-radio access network (O-RAN) network, or a virtualized radio access network (vRAN) , which may also be referred to a cloud radio access network (C-RAN) . Disaggregation may include distributing functionality across the two or more units at various physical locations, as well as distributing functionality for at least one unit virtually, which can enable flexibility in network designs. The various units of the disaggregated base station architecture, or the disaggregated RAN architecture, can be configured for wired or wireless communication with at least one other unit. For example, the base stations 104d, 104e and / or the RUs 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d may communicate with the UEs 102a, 102b, 102c, 102d, and / or 102s via one or more radio frequency (RF) access links based on a Uu interface. In examples, multiple RUs 106 and / or base stations 104 may simultaneously serve the UEs 102, such as by intra-cell and / or inter-cell access links between the UEs 102 and the RUs 106 / base stations 104.

[0028] The RU 106, the DU 108, and the CU 110 may include (or may be coupled to) one or more interfaces configured to transmit or receive information / signals via a wired or wireless transmission medium. For example, a wired interface can be configured to transmit or receive the information / signals over a wired transmission medium, such as via the fronthaul link 160 between the RU 106d and the baseband unit (BBU) 112 of the base station 104d associated with the cell 190d. The BBU 112 includes a DU 108 and a CU 110, which may also have a wired interface (e.g., midhaul link) configured between the DU 108 and the CU 110 to transmit or receive the information / signals between the DU 108 and the CU 110. In further examples, a wireless interface, which may include a receiver, a transmitter, or a transceiver, such as an RF transceiver, configured to transmit and / or receive the information / signals via the wireless transmission medium, such as for information communicated between  the RU 106a of the cell 190a and the base station 104e of the cell 190e via cross-cell communication beams 136-138 of the RU 106a and the base station 104e.

[0029] The RUs 106 may be configured to implement lower layer functionality. For example, the RU 106 is controlled by the DU 108 and may correspond to a logical node that hosts RF processing functions, or lower layer PHY functionality, such as execution of fast Fourier transform (FFT) , inverse FFT (iFFT) , digital beamforming, physical random access channel (PRACH) extraction and filtering, etc. The functionality of the RU 106 may be based on the functional split, such as a functional split of lower layers.

[0030] The RUs 106 may transmit or receive over-the-air (OTA) communication with one or more UEs 102. For example, the RU 106b of the cell 190b communicates with the UE 102b of the cell 190b via a first set of communication beams 132 of the RU 106b and a second set of communication beams 134b of the UE 102b, which may correspond to inter-cell communication beams or, in some examples, cross-cell communication beams. For instance, the UE 102b of the cell 190b may communicate with the RU 106a of the cell 190a via a third set of communication beams 134a of the UE 102b and a fourth set of communication beams 136 of the RU 106a. DUs 108 can control both real-time and non-real-time features of control plane and user plane communications of the RUs 106.

[0031] Any combination of the RU 106, the DU 108, and the CU 110, or reference thereto individually, may correspond to a base station 104. Thus, the base station 104 may include at least one of the RU 106, the DU 108, or the CU 110. The base stations 104 provide the UEs 102 with access to a core network. The base stations 104 may relay communications between the UEs 102 and the core network (not shown) . The base stations 104 may be associated with macrocells for higher-power cellular base stations and / or small cells for lower-power cellular base stations. For example, the cell 190e may correspond to a macrocell, whereas the cells 190a-190d may correspond to small cells. Small cells include femtocells, picocells, microcells, etc. A network that includes at least one macrocell and at least one small cell may be referred to as a “heterogeneous network. ”

[0032] Transmissions from a UE 102 to a base station 104 / RU 106 are referred to as uplink (UL) transmissions, whereas transmissions from the base station 104 / RU 106 to the UE 102 are referred to as downlink (DL) transmissions. Uplink transmissions may also be referred to as reverse link transmissions and downlink transmissions may  also be referred to as forward link transmissions. For example, the RU 106d utilizes antennas of the base station 104d of cell 190d to transmit a downlink / forward link communication to the UE 102d or receive an uplink / reverse link communication from the UE 102d based on the Uu interface associated with the access link between the UE 102d and the base station 104d / RU 106d.

[0033] Communication links between the UEs 102 and the base stations 104 / RUs 106 may be based on multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) antenna technology, including spatial multiplexing, beamforming, and / or transmit diversity. The communication links may be associated with one or more carriers. The UEs 102 and the base stations 104 / RUs 106 may utilize a spectrum bandwidth of Y MHz (e.g., 5, 10, 15, 20, 100, 400, 800, 1600, 2000, etc. MHz) per carrier allocated in a carrier aggregation of up to a total of Yx MHz, where x component carriers (CCs) are used for communication in each of the uplink and downlink directions. The carriers may or may not be adjacent to each other along a frequency spectrum. In examples, uplink and downlink carriers may be allocated in an asymmetric manner, with more or fewer carriers allocated to either the uplink or the downlink. A primary component carrier and one or more secondary component carriers may be included in the component carriers. The primary component carrier may be associated with a primary cell (PCell) and a secondary component carrier may be associated with a secondary cell (SCell) .

[0034] Some UEs 102, such as the UEs 102a and 102s, may perform device-to-device (D2D) communications over sidelink. For example, a sidelink communication / D2D link utilizes a spectrum for a wireless wide area network (WWAN) associated with uplink and downlink communications. Such sidelink / D2D communication may be performed through various wireless communications systems, such as wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) systems, Bluetooth systems, Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems, New Radio (NR) systems, etc.

[0035] The UEs 102 and the base stations 104 / RUs 106 may each include a plurality of antennas. The plurality of antennas may correspond to antenna elements, antenna panels, and / or antenna arrays that may facilitate beamforming operations. For example, the RU 106b transmits a downlink beamformed signal based on a first set of communication beams 132 to the UE 102b in one or more transmit directions of the RU 106b. The UE 102b may receive the downlink beamformed signal based on a second set of communication beams 134b from the RU 106b in one or more receive directions of the UE 102b. In a further example, the UE 102b may also transmit an  uplink beamformed signal (e.g., sounding reference signal (SRS) ) to the RU 106b based on the second set of communication beams 134b in one or more transmit directions of the UE 102b. The RU 106b may receive the uplink beamformed signal from the UE 102b in one or more receive directions of the RU 106b. The UE 102b may perform beam training to determine the best receive and transmit directions for the beamformed signals. The transmit and receive directions for the UEs 102 and the base stations 104 / RUs 106 may or may not be the same.

[0036] In further examples, beamformed signals may be communicated between a first base station / RU 106a and a second base station 104e. For instance, the base station 104e of the cell 190e may transmit a beamformed signal to the RU 106a based on the communication beams 138 in one or more transmit directions of the base station 104e. The RU 106a may receive the beamformed signal from the base station 104e of the cell 190e based on the RU communication beams 136 in one or more receive directions of the RU 106a. In further examples, the base station 104e transmits a downlink beamformed signal to the UE 102e based on the communication beams 138 in one or more transmit directions of the base station 104e. The UE 102e receives the downlink beamformed signal from the base station 104e based on UE communication beams 130 in one or more receive directions of the UE 102e. The UE 102e may also transmit an uplink beamformed signal to the base station 104e based on the UE communication beams 130 in one or more transmit directions of the UE 102e, such that the base station 104e may receive the uplink beamformed signal from the UE 102e in one or more receive directions of the base station 104e.

[0037] The base station 104 may include and / or be referred to as a network entity. That is, “network entity” may refer to the base station 104 or at least one unit of the base station 104, such as the RU 106, the DU 108, and / or the CU 110. The base station 104 may also include and / or be referred to as a next generation evolved Node B (ng-eNB) , a next generation NB (gNB) , an evolved NB (eNB) , an access point, a base transceiver station, a radio base station, a radio transceiver, a transceiver function, a basic service set (BSS) , an extended service set (ESS) , a TRP, a network node, network equipment, or other related terminology. The base station 104 or an entity at the base station 104 can be implemented as an IAB node, a relay node, a sidelink node, an aggregated (monolithic) base station, or a disaggregated base station including one or more RUs 106, DUs 108, and / or CUs 110. A set of aggregated or disaggregated base stations may be referred to as a next generation-radio access network (NG-RAN) . In some  examples, the UE 102a operates in dual connectivity (DC) with the base station 104e and the base station / RU 106a. In such cases, the base station 104e can be a master node and the base station / RU 160a can be a secondary node.

[0070] In some aspects, when the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario, the network entity may transmit, to the UE 102, configuration (s) of a pathloss RS for the indicated UL TCI state. In some aspects, when the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario, the network entity may refrain from transmitting, to the UE 102, configuration (s) of a pathloss RS for the indicated UL TCI state. In some cases, if the network entity transmits, to the UE 102, configuration (s) of the pathloss RS for the indicated UL TCI state, the pathloss RS may be transmitted from the first TRP 104a or associated with the first TRP 104a or the first TRP 104a identifier. In some aspects, the network entity may transmit, to the UE 102, configuration (s) and / or indication (s) of a first pathloss offset for determining / calculating pathloss when determining UL transmit power for  transmitting a UL transmission via the indicated UL TCI state. In such aspects, the first pathloss offset may be configured / indicated if the network entity configures / indicates / detects that the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario in the serving cell or BWP.

[0071] In some aspects, if the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario, and / or if the UE 102 is indicated, by the network entity, to apply / use the indicated UL TCI state to transmit an UL transmission, when determining the UL transmit power for transmitting the UL transmission, the UE 102 may determine / calculate the pathloss based on one or a combination of the following:

[0072] - The pathloss reference signal (PL-RS) , if configured, for the indicated UL TCI state, and / or

[0073] - A reference signal (RS) (e.g., quasi co-location (QCL) TypeA / C RS, QCL TypeD RS) for the indicated DL TCI state, and / or

[0074] ○ In such a case, the UE 102 may measure pathloss via the reference signal or determine the reference signal is a pathloss RS for the indicated UL TCI state.

[0075] - The first pathloss offset.

[0076] In some aspects, if the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario in a serving cell or BWP, and / or if the UE 102 receives, from the network entity, configuration (s) of Supplementary Uplink (SUL) for the serving cell or BWP, the UE 102 may receive, from the network entity, configuration (s)  / indication (s) of the first pathloss offset for a Normal or Non-supplementary Uplink (NUL) in the serving cell or BWP and / or the first pathloss offset for a SUL in the serving cell or BWP. This implies that the network entity may separately configure / indicate / update the first pathloss offset for NUL and for SUL.

[0077] In some aspects, the UE 102 may determine whether to apply the first pathloss offset for NUL or SUL for an UL transmission, based on whether the UL transmission is transmitted on a NUL or SUL. In some aspects, if the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario in a serving cell or BWP, and / or if the UE 102 receives, from the network entity, configuration (s) of SUL for the serving cell or BWP, when determining the UL transmit power for transmitting an UL transmission (e.g., PUSCH, PUCCH, SRS, or PRACH) , the UE 102 may determine / calculate the pathloss, based on whether the UL transmission is configured / indicated by the network entity to transmit on a NUL or SUL in the serving cell or BWP. In some  aspects, if the UL transmission is configured / indicated to transmit on a NUL and the UE 102 determines or is indicated / configured by the network entity to apply the first pathloss offset for the UL transmission, the UE 102 may apply the first pathloss offset for the NUL. In some aspects, if the UL transmission is configured / indicated to transmit on a SUL and the UE 102 determines or is indicated / configured by the network entity to apply the first pathloss offset for the UL transmission, the UE 102 apply the first pathloss offset for the SUL.

[0078] In some aspects, the network entity may transmit, to the UE 102, configuration (s) of more than one mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList for a serving cell or BWP and configuration (s) of more than one mpe-ResourcePoolToReleaseList for the serving cell or BWP. In some aspects, when the network entity configures / indicates / detects that the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario in a serving cell or BWP, the network entity may transmit, to the UE 102, configuration (s) of more than one mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList for the serving cell or BWP and configuration (s) of more than one mpe-ResourcePoolToReleaseList for the serving cell or BWP. In some other aspects, when the network entity configures / indicates / detects the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario in a serving cell or BWP, the network entity may transmit, to the UE 102, configuration (s) of only one mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList for the serving cell or BWP and configuration (s) of only one mpe-ResourcePoolToReleaseList for the serving cell or BWP.

[0079] In some aspects, when the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario, the UE 102 may transmit a power headroom report (PHR) (e.g., via a MAC-CE) indicating a first set of power management maximum power reduction (P-MPR (s) ) and a second set of P-MPR (s) . In some aspects, when the UE 102 is not operating in the first scenario, the UE 102 may refrain from transmitting a PHR indicating a first set of P-MPR (s) and a second set of P-MPR (s) .

[0080] In some aspects, when the network entity configures / indicates / detects that the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario, the network entity may configure / indicate to the UE 102 to transmit a PHR (e.g., via a MAC-CE) indicating a first set of P-MPR (s) and a second set of P-MPR (s) . In some aspects, when the network entity configures / indicates / detects that the UE 102 is not operating in the first scenario, the network entity may refrain from configuring / indicating to the UE 102 to transmit a PHR indicating a first set of P-MPR (s) and a second set of P-MPR (s) .

[0081] In some aspects, the first set of P-MPR (s) or the second set of P-MPR (s) may include one or more P-MPR (s) , each P-MPR corresponding to a reference signal indicated in the PHR.

[0082] In some aspects, the first set of P-MPR (s) may correspond to or be associated with at least one of the following:

[0083] - A first mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList in the serving cell / BWP, and / or

[0084] ○ In such a case, each reference signal corresponding to the first set of P-MPR (s) may be indicated by the first mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList

[0085] - A first mpe-ResourcePoolToReleaseList in the serving cell / BWP, and / or

[0086] - The first TRP identifier (e.g., coresetPoolIndex #0) , and / or

[0087] - A first SRS resource set (e.g., an SRS resource set with a lower SRS resource set ID in the serving cell / BWP) , and / or

[0088] - A first SRS resource (e.g., an SRS resource with a lower SRS resource ID) in an SRS resource set in the serving cell / BWP.

[0089] In some aspects, the second set of P-MPR (s) may correspond to or be associated with at least one of the following:

[0090] - A second mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList in the serving cell / BWP, and / or

[0091] ○ In such a case, each reference signal corresponding to the second set of P-MPR (s) may be indicated by the second mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList

[0092] - A second mpe-ResourcePoolToReleaseList in the serving cell / BWP, and / or

[0093] - The second TRP identifier (e.g., coresetPoolIndex #1) , and / or

[0094] - A second SRS resource set (e.g., an SRS resource set with a higher SRS resource set ID in the serving cell / BWP) , and / or

[0095] - A second SRS resource (e.g., an SRS resource with a higher SRS resource ID) in an SRS resource set in the serving cell / BWP.

[0096] In some aspects, when the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario, and / or when the UE 102 detects a threshold criteria is satisfied, the UE 102 may perform one of the following options:

[0097] - Option 1: The UE 102 may transmit a PHR including one power headroom, or

[0098] - Option 2: The UE 102 may transmit a PHR including two power headroom, each of which is associated with a TRP or a TRP identifier.

[0099] In some aspects, the threshold criteria may be that the variation of pathloss is larger than or equal to a threshold.

[0100] In some aspects, the UE 102 may transmit two power headroom (PH) for SRS (e.g., two Type 3 PH) for a serving cell or BWP, if one or a combination of the following is achieved or occurs:

[0101] - The UE 102 is operating in the first scenario in the serving cell or BWP, and / or

[0102] - The UE 102 receives configuration (s) of two PHR modes (e.g., twoPHRMode or twoPHRModeforSRS) for the serving cell or BWP, and / or

[0103] - The UE 102 receives configuration (s) of an SRS resource set for AS for the serving cell or BWP, and / or

[0104] - The UE 102 receives configuration (s) of an SRS resource set for beam management (BM) or codebook / non-codebook UL for the serving cell or BWP.

[0105] In some aspects, if the UE 102 transmits two PH for SRS for the serving cell or BWP, the two PH for SRS may be indicated by a single PHR or by two PHRs separately.

[0106] In some aspects, the network entity may configure the UE 102 to transmit a Type 3 PHR in a serving cell or BWP with PUSCH / PUCCH configured (e.g., PUSCH-Config, PUCCH-Config) , in addition to transmitting a Type 1 PHR in the serving cell or BWP. In some aspects, if the network entity configures / indicates / detects that the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario, the network entity may configure the UE 102 to transmit a Type 3 PHR in a serving cell or BWP with PUSCH / PUCCH configured (e.g., PUSCH-Config, PUCCH-Config) , in addition to transmitting a Type 1 PHR in the serving cell or BWP. The UE 102 may report the Type 3 PHR and Type 1 PHR by separate MAC-CEs or a common MAC-CE. The UE 102 may determine whether to trigger the Type 3 PHR or Type 1 PHR transmission procedure based on common PHR triggering conditions (e.g., triggering conditions defined in 3GPP Technical Specification (TS) 38.321, section 5.4.6) or based on separate PHR triggering conditions. For separate PHR triggering conditions, the UE 102 may determine the triggering conditions for Type 3 PHR based on the pathloss of SRS for AS and the UE 102 may determine the triggering conditions for the Type 1 PHR based on the pathloss for other uplink channels. The UE 102 may calculate the Type 3 PHR based on the UL power control parameters configured for the SRS for AS.

[0107] In some aspects, when the UE 102 determines that the change or variation of the first pathloss offset or the change of total pathloss from the measured pathloss or the change / variation of the measured pathloss is above a threshold, and / or the prohibit timer for PHR expires, the UE 102 may trigger a PHR transmission procedure, where  the threshold may be pre-defined or configured by the network entity. Such aspects may be performed when the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario.

[0108] In some aspects, the UE 102 calculates the actual Type1 / Type3 PH based on the actual transmission power that is determined based on the measured pathloss plus the first pathloss offset and power control (PC) parameters for an actual PUSCH / SRS transmission (e.g., UL PC parameters configured for the indicated joint / UL TCI state or the first set of UL PC parameter (s) , or the second set of UL PC parameter (s) ) . The UE 102 calculates the reference Type1 / Type3 PH based on the reference transmission power that is determined based on power control parameters configured for PUSCH / SRS (e.g., UL PC parameters configured for the indicated joint / UL TCI state or the first set of UL PC parameter (s) , or the second set of UL PC parameter (s) ) and the measured pathloss plus a reference first pathloss offset, where the reference first pathloss offset may be the first pathloss offset the UE 102 maintained before the minimum preparation time of the reference PHR transmission, or the initial / default first pathloss offset. In some aspects, the UE 102 may report the reference first pathloss offset used to calculate the reference PH in the reference PHR. Such aspects may be performed when the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario.

[0109] In some aspects, the network entity may transmit configuration (s) , to the UE 102, for two PC adjustment states or closed loops for SRS (e.g., twoSRS-PC-AdjustmentStates) . In some aspects, the network entity may transmit configuration (s) , to the UE 102, to indicate that PC adjustment state (s) or closed loop (s) for SRS are separate from those for PUSCH (e.g., srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates) .

[0110] In some aspects, if the network entity configures / indicates / detects that the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario, the network entity may perform one of the following:

[0111] - The network entity transmits configuration (s) , to the UE 102, for two PC adjustment states or closed loops for SRS (e.g., twoSRS-PC-AdjustmentStates) , and / or

[0112] - The network entity transmits configuration (s) , to the UE 102, to indicate that PC adjustment state (s) or closed loop (s) for SRS are separate from those for PUSCH (e.g., srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates) .

[0113] ○ In such a case, the configuration may also indicate which PC adjustment state (s) or closed loop (s) for SRS are separate from those for PUSCH.

[0114] In some aspects, if the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario, the UE 102 may maintain one or more (e.g., three) PC adjustment states or closed loops. For example,  one PC adjustment state or closed loop for SRS for AS, one PC adjustment state or closed loop for SRS for BM, and / or one PC adjustment state or closed loop for PUSCH.

[0115] In some aspects, the UE 102 may determine or use an adjustment state or closed loop index for SRS for determining UL transmit power for transmitting an SRS for AS without indicated UL TCI state applied or an SRS for AS associated with the first TRP or the first TRP identifier or an SRS configured / indicated by the network entity to not apply a pathloss offset, based on at least one of the following options:

[0116] - Option 1: The UE 102 always determines or uses a first adjustment state or closed loop index for SRS (e.g., l = 0) , and / or

[0117] - Option 2: The UE 102 always determines or uses a second adjustment state or closed loop index for SRS (e.g., l = 1) , and / or

[0118] - Option 3: The UE 102 determines or uses an adjustment state or closed loop index for SRS different from that configured or applied for the indicated UL TCI state, and / or

[0119] - Option 4: The UE 102 determines or uses an adjustment state or closed loop index for SRS indicated / configured by additional signaling from the network entity.

[0120] Such aspects may be performed when the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario.

[0121] In some aspects, the network entity may transmit, to the UE 102, a DCI to indicate more than one (e.g., two) TPC commands for SRS for a serving cell or BWP, if one or a combination of the following is achieved or occurs:

[0122] - If the network entity configures / indicates / detects that the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario in the serving cell or BWP, and / or

[0123] - If the network entity transmits configuration (s) , to the UE 102, for two PC adjustment states or closed loops for SRS (e.g., twoSRS-PC-AdjustmentStates) , and / or

[0124] - If the network entity transmits configuration (s) , to the UE 102, to indicate that PC adjustment state (s) or closed loop (s) for SRS are separate from those for PUSCH (e.g., srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates) , and / or

[0125] - If the network entity transmits configuration (s) , to the UE 102, to indicate that two TPC fields for SRS for a serving cell or BWP are present in a DCI or a block in the DCI (e.g., SecondTPCFieldDCI-2-3 or SecondTPCFieldDCI-2-x or SecondTPCFieldDCI) .

[0126] In such aspects, the DCI may be a DCI format 2_3, or a group-common DCI format other than DCI format 2_3. In one example, the network entity may configure the location of the starting bit for the DCI field block for the UE 102 in the DCI by an RRC parameter for non-supplementary uplink (non-SUL) or supplementary uplink (SUL) respectively (e.g., startingBitOfFormat2-3 or startingBitOfFormat2-3SUL) . In each block, the network entity may indicate the TPC command for each PC adjustment state or closed loop for each serving cell configured in a serving cell list (e.g., cc-IndexInOneCC-Set) . The network entity may indicate an SRS request to trigger one or more set (s) of SRS resources (e.g., for antenna switching) for the UE 102 by the DCI. In another example, the network entity may configure the location of the starting bit for the DCI field block for the UE 102 by an RRC parameter for TPC command for each PC adjustment state or closed loop for non-supplementary uplink (non-SUL) or supplementary uplink (SUL) respectively (e.g., startingBitOfFormat2-3, startingBitOfFormat2-3SecondLoop or startingBitOfFormat2-3SUL, startingBitOfFormat2-3SULSecondLoop) . In each block, the network entity may indicate the TPC command for the corresponding PC adjustment state or closed loop for each serving cell configured in a serving cell list (e.g., cc-IndexInOneCC-Set) .

[0127] In some aspects, when a UE 102 is configured with an accumulative TPC command by the network entity, and / or if the UE 102 is operating in the first scenario, the UE 102 may reset the PC adjustment state to an initial value (e.g., set the PC adjustment state to 0 dB) , to determine the uplink transmission power based on the uplink power control equations for an uplink channel / RS (e.g., PUSCH / PUCCH / SRS as defined in 3GPP TS 38.213, section 7) if one or multiple of the following occur:

[0128] - The UE 102 receives signaling to update or indicate the first pathloss offset for the uplink channel / RS, and / or

[0129] - The UE 102 receives the configuration to enable the PC adjustment state reset after receiving the signaling to update the first pathloss offset for the uplink channel / RS.

[0130] FIG. 4 is a signaling diagram 400 illustrating the second scenario of FIG. 2B for UL power control of communications between a UE and first and second TRPs according to an embodiment. In some aspects, the UE 102 may optionally transmit 310b, to the second TRP 104b, a UE capability for supporting a second scenario where one TRP only serves UL transmission, a pathloss offset configuration / indication, two Type 3 PHR, and / or at most four closed loops for SRS. The UE 102 may also transmit  310b or report UE capability to the network entity through a core network. In the second scenario, the UE 102 may only receive DL transmissions from the first TRP 104a and not from the second TRP 104b. In the second scenario, the UE 102 may transmit a PUSCH transmission, a PUCCH transmission, an SRS, and / or a PRACH transmission to the first TRP 104a and / or the second TRP 104b.

[0131] In some aspects, the UE 102 may receive 320b, from the first TRP 104a, an RRC configuration for configuring one or more joint / DL / UL TCI states, the second scenario, a pathloss offset, two Type 3 PH, simultaneous Type 1 and Type 3 PHR, and / or up to four closed loops for SRS.

[0132] In some aspects, the UE 102 may optionally receive 330, from the first TRP 104a, a pathloss offset indication, an update to an indicated pathloss offset, or an update to a preconfigured pathloss offset.

[0133] In some aspects, the UE 102 may receive 340b, from the first TRP 104a, a pathloss reference signal (PL-RS) for the second scenario from a configuration or from a configured joint / DL / UL TCI state.

[0134] In some aspects, the UE 102 may optionally receive 350, from the first TRP 104a, DCI indicating one or more TPC commands for SRS per UE.

[0135] In some aspects, the UE 102 may adjust 360 an UL power setting for a closed loop for SRS based on the received TPC commands, if received from the network entity.

[0136] In some aspects, the UE 102 may optionally receive 370, from the first TRP 104a, a scheduling / triggering signal for an UL transmission.

[0137] In some aspects, the UE 102 may determine 380b whether to transmit a PHR including one or two Type 3 PH (based on measured pathloss and / or configured / indicated pathloss offset) .

[0138] In some aspects, the UE 102 may transmit 390b, to the second TRP 104b and / or the first TRP 104a, a preconfigured or the scheduled / triggered UL transmission based on adjusted / determined UL transmit power, and / or a PHR including one or two Type 3 PH.

[0139] In some aspects, the network entity may transmit a DCI (e.g., the first DCI) to indicate (e.g., by a TCI field in the DCI) a first joint / DL / UL TCI state and / or a second joint / DL / UL TCI state to the UE. In some aspects, the first indicated joint / DL / UL TCI state and / or the second indicated joint / DL / UL TCI state may be from the one or more TCI states activated by the first MAC-CE. In some aspects, the network entity may transmit a MAC-CE (e.g., the first MAC-CE) to indicate a first joint / DL / UL TCI state  and / or a second joint / DL / UL TCI state to the UE, that is, activation of only one TCI field codepoint including a joint / DL / UL TCI state and / or another one joint / DL / UL TCI state. In some aspects, the first MAC-CE may be one of Enhanced Unified TCI States Activation / Deactivation MAC CE for Joint TCI States or Enhanced Unified TCI States Activation / Deactivation MAC CE for Separate TCI States. In some aspects, if the UE is operating in M-TRP S-DCI mode, the first MAC-CE may be one of Enhanced Unified TCI States Activation / Deactivation MAC CE for Joint TCI States or Enhanced Unified TCI States Activation / Deactivation MAC CE for Separate TCI States.

[0140] In some aspects, the network entity may transmit a second DCI to indicate (e.g., by a TCI field in the DCI) a first joint / DL / UL TCI state. In some aspects, the network entity may transmit a third DCI to indicate (e.g., by a TCI field in the DCI) a second joint / DL / UL TCI state. In some aspects, the first joint / DL / UL TCI state may be from the one or more TCI states activated by a second MAC-CE. In some aspects, the second joint / DL / UL TCI state may be from the one or more TCI states activated by a third MAC-CE. In some other aspects, the network entity may transmit a MAC-CE (e.g., the second MAC-CE) to indicate a first joint / DL / UL TCI state to the UE, that is, activation of only a joint / DL / UL TCI state. In some other aspects, the network entity may transmit a MAC-CE (e.g., the third MAC-CE) to indicate a second joint / DL / UL TCI state to the UE, that is, activation of only a joint / DL / UL TCI state. In some aspects, the second MAC-CE may indicate a TRP identifier (e.g., coresetPoolIndex #0) . In some aspects, the third MAC-CE may indicate a TRP identifier (e.g., coresetPoolIndex #1) . In some aspects, the second MAC-CE and the third MAC-CE may be the same type of MAC-CE (e.g., Unified TCI States Activation / Deactivation MAC CE with CORESET Pool ID field present) . In some aspects, the second MAC-CE may be a Unified TCI States Activation / Deactivation MAC CE with CORESET Pool ID field indicating that the activated TCI states are specific to CORESET pool ID equal to 0. In some aspects, the third MAC-CE may be a Unified TCI States Activation / Deactivation MAC CE with CORESET Pool ID field indicating that the activated TCI states are specific to CORESET pool ID equal to 1. In some aspects, the UE may receive or detect the second DCI on a CORESET associated with or specific to the first TRP identifier (e.g., coresetPoolIndex #0) . In some aspects, the UE may receive or detect the third DCI on a CORESET associated with or specific to the second TRP identifier (e.g., coresetPoolIndex #1) .

[0141] In some aspects, the TCI activation procedure performed via the second MAC-CE and / or the third MAC-CE may be the same as that of the first MAC-CE. In some aspects, the TCI indication procedure performed via the second DCI and / or the third DCI may be the same as that of the first DCI. In some aspects, the MAC-CE format of the second MAC-CE and / or the third MAC-CE may be the same as that of the first MAC-CE. In some aspects, the DCI format of the second DCI and / or the third DCI may be the same as that of the first DCI.

[0142] In some aspects, the first joint / DL TCI state may be associated with or specific to a first TRP or a first TRP identifier (e.g., coresetPoolIndex #0) . In some aspects, the second joint / DL TCI state may be associated with or specific to a second TRP or a second TRP identifier (e.g., coresetPoolIndex #1) .

[0143] In some aspects, when the UE 102 is operating in the second scenario, the network entity may transmit, to the UE, configuration (s) for a pathloss RS for the second indicated joint / UL TCI state. In some aspects, when the UE 102 is operating in the second scenario, the network entity may refrain from transmitting, to the UE, configuration (s) of a pathloss RS for the second indicated joint / UL TCI state. If the network entity transmits, to the UE, configuration (s) for the pathloss RS for the second indicated joint / UL TCI state, the pathloss RS may be transmitted from the first TRP or associated with the first TRP or the first TRP identifier. In some aspects, the network entity may transmit, to the UE, configuration (s) and / or indication (s) of a second pathloss offset for determining / calculating pathloss when determining UL transmit power for transmitting an UL transmission via the second indicated joint / UL TCI state. In such aspects, the second pathloss offset may be configured / indicated if the network entity configures / indicates / detects the UE is operating in the second scenario in the serving cell or BWP.

[0144] In some aspects, if the UE is operating in the second scenario, and / or if the UE is indicated, by the network entity, to apply / use the second indicated joint / UL TCI state to transmit an UL transmission, when determining UL transmit power for transmitting the UL transmission, the UE may determine / calculate pathloss based on one or a combination of the following:

[0145] - The pathloss reference signal (PL-RS) , if configured, for the second indicated joint / UL TCI state, and / or

[0146] - A reference signal (RS) (e.g., QCL TypeA / C RS, QCL TypeD RS) for the first indicated joint / DL TCI state, and / or

[0147] ○ In such a case, the UE may measure pathloss via the reference signal or determine that the reference signal is a pathloss RS for the second indicated joint / UL TCI state

[0148] - The second pathloss offset.

[0149] In some aspects, if the UE is operating in the second scenario in a serving cell or BWP, and / or if the UE receives, from the network entity, configuration (s) of SUL for the serving cell ow BWP, the UE may receive, from the network entity, configuration (s)  / indication (s) of the second pathloss offset for a NUL in the serving cell or BWP and / or the second pathloss offset for a SUL in the serving cell or BWP. This implies that the network entity may separately configure / indicate / update the second pathloss offset for NUL and that for SUL. In some aspects, the UE may determine whether to apply the second pathloss offset for NUL or SUL for an UL transmission based on whether the UL transmission is transmitted on a NUL or SUL.

[0150] In some aspects, the UE may determine whether to apply the second pathloss offset for NUL or SUL for an UL transmission, based on whether the UL transmission is transmitted on a NUL or SUL. In some aspects, if the UE is operating in the second scenario in a serving cell or BWP, and / or if the UE receives, from the network entity, configuration (s) of SUL for the serving cell or BWP, when determining UL transmit power for transmitting an UL transmission (e.g., PUSCH, PUCCH, SRS, or PRACH) , the UE may determine / calculate the pathloss based on whether the UL transmission is configured / indicated by the network entity to transmit on a NUL or SUL in the serving cell or BWP. In some aspects, if the UL transmission is configured / indicated to transmit on a NUL and the UE determines or is indicated / configured by the network entity to apply the second pathloss offset for the UL transmission, the UE may apply the second pathloss offset for the NUL. In some aspects, if the UL transmission is configured / indicated to transmit on a SUL and the UE determines or is indicated / configured by the network entity to apply the second pathloss offset for the UL transmission, the UE may apply the second pathloss offset for the SUL.

[0151] In some aspects, the network entity may transmit, to the UE, configuration (s) of more than one mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList for a serving cell or BWP and configuration (s) of more than one mpe-ResourcePoolToReleaseList for the serving cell or BWP. In some aspects, when the network entity configures / indicates / detects the UE is operating in the second scenario in a serving cell or BWP, the network entity may transmit, to the UE, configuration (s) of more than one mpe- ResourcePoolToAddModList for the serving cell or BWP and configuration (s) of more than one mpe-ResourcePoolToReleaseList for the serving cell or BWP. In some aspects, when the network entity configures / indicates / detects the UE is operating in the second scenario in a serving cell or BWP, the network entity may transmit, to the UE, configuration (s) of only one mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList for the serving cell or BWP and configuration (s) of only one mpe-ResourcePoolToReleaseList for the serving cell or BWP.

[0152] In some aspects, when the UE is operating in the second scenario, the UE may transmit a PHR (e.g., via a MAC-CE) indicating a first set of P-MPR (s) and a second set of P-MPR (s) . In some aspects, when the UE is not operating in the second scenario, the UE may refrain from transmitting a PHR indicating a first set of P-MPR (s) and a second set of P-MPR (s) .

[0153] In some aspects, when the network entity configures / indicates / detects that the UE is operating in the second scenario, the network entity may configure / indicate to the UE to transmit a PHR (e.g., via a MAC-CE) indicating a first set of P-MPR (s) and a second set of P-MPR (s) . In some aspects, when the network entity configures / indicates / detects that the UE is not operating in the second scenario, the network entity may refrain from configuring / indicating to the UE to transmit a PHR indicating a first set of P-MPR (s) and a second set of P-MPR (s) .

[0154] In some aspects, the first set of P-MPR (s) or the second set of P-MPR (s) may include one or more P-MPR (s) , each P-MPR corresponding to a reference signal indicated in the PHR.

[0155] In some aspects, the first set of P-MPR (s) may correspond to or be associated with at least one of the following:

[0156] - A first mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList in the serving cell / BWP, and / or

[0157] ○ In such a case, each reference signal corresponding to the first set of P-MPR (s) may be indicated in the first mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList

[0158] - A first mpe-ResourcePoolToReleaseList in the serving cell / BWP, and / or

[0160] - A first SRS resource set (e.g., an SRS resource set with a lower SRS resource set ID in the serving cell / BWP) , and / or

[0161] - A first SRS resource (e.g., an SRS resource with a lower SRS resource ID) in an SRS resource set in the serving cell / BWP.

[0162] In some aspects, the second set of P-MPR (s) may correspond to or be associated with at least one of the following:

[0163] - A second mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList in the serving cell / BWP, and / or

[0164] ○ In such a case, each reference signal corresponding to the second set of P-MPR (s) may be indicated in the second mpe-ResourcePoolToAddModList

[0165] - A second mpe-ResourcePoolToReleaseLis in the serving cell / BWP, and / or

[0166] - The second TRP identifier (e.g., coresetPoolIndex #1) , and / or

[0169] In some aspects, if the UE is operating in the second scenario, and / or if the UE detects a threshold criteria is satisfied, the UE may perform one of the following options:

[0170] - Option 1: The UE may transmit a PHR including one power headroom, or

[0171] - Option 2: The UE may transmit a PHR including two power headrooms, each of which is associated with a TRP or a TRP identifier.

[0172] In some aspects, the threshold criteria may be that the variation of a pathloss is larger than or equal to the threshold.

[0173] In some aspects, the UE may transmit two PH for SRS (e.g., Type 3 PH) for a serving cell or BWP, if one or a combination of the following is achieved or occurs:

[0174] - The UE is operating in the second scenario in the serving cell or BWP, and / or

[0175] - The UE receives configuration (s) for two PHR mode (e.g., twoPHRMode or twoPHRModeforSRS) for the serving cell or BWP, and / or

[0178] In some aspects, if the UE transmits two PH for SRS for the serving cell or BWP, the two PH for SRS may be indicated by a single PHR or by two PHR separately.

[0179] In some aspects, the network entity may transmit configuration (s) , to the UE, for two PC adjustment states or closed loops for SRS (e.g., twoSRS-PC-AdjustmentStates) . In some aspects, the network entity may transmit configuration (s) ,  to the UE, to indicate that PC adjustment state (s) or closed loop (s) for SRS are separate from those for PUSCH (e.g., srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates) .

[0180] In some aspects, if the network entity configures / indicates / detects that the UE is operating in the second scenario, the network entity may perform one of the following:

[0181] - The network entity transmits configuration (s) , to the UE, for two PC adjustment states or closed loops for SRS (e.g., twoSRS-PC-AdjustmentStates) , and / or

[0182] - The network entity transmits configuration (s) , to the UE, to indicate that PC adjustment state (s) or closed loop (s) for SRS are separate from those for PUSCH (e.g., srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates) .

[0183] ○ In such a case, such configuration may also indicate which one PC adjustment state (s) or closed loop (s) for SRS is separate from those for PUSCH.

[0184] In some aspects, if the UE is operating in the second scenario, the UE may maintain one or more (e.g., four) PC adjustment states or closed loops. For example, one PC adjustment state or closed loop for SRS for AS, one PC adjustment state or closed loop for SRS for BM, and / or one or two PC adjustment state (s) or closed loop (s) for PUSCH.

[0185] In some aspects, the network entity may transmit a DCI to indicate, to the UE, more than one (e.g., two) TPC commands for SRS for a serving cell or BWP, if one or a combination of the following is achieved or occurs:

[0186] - If the network entity configures / indicates / detects that the UE is operating in the second scenario in the serving cell or BWP, and / or

[0187] - If the network entity transmits configuration (s) , to the UE, for two PC adjustment states or closed loops for SRS (e.g., twoSRS-PC-AdjustmentStates) , and / or

[0189] - If the network entity transmits configuration (s) , to the UE, to indicate that two TPC fields for SRS for a serving cell or BWP are present in a DCI or a block in the DCI (e.g., SecondTPCFieldDCI-2-3 or SecondTPCFieldDCI-2-x or SecondTPCFieldDCI) .

[0190] In some aspects, the DCI may be a DCI format 2_3, or a group-common DCI format other than DCI format 2_3. In one example, the network entity may configure  the location of the starting bit for the DCI field block for the UE in the DCI by an RRC parameter for non-supplementary uplink (non-SUL) or SUL respectively, (e.g., startingBitOfFormat2-3 or startingBitOfFormat2-3SUL) . In each block, the network entity may indicate the TPC command for each PC adjustment state or closed loop for each serving cell configured in a serving cell list, (e.g., cc-IndexInOneCC-Set) . The network entity may indicate an SRS request to trigger one or more set (s) of SRS resources (e.g., for antenna switching) for the UE by the DCI. In another example, the network entity may configure the location of the starting bit for the DCI field block for the UE by an RRC parameter for TPC command for each PC adjustment state or closed loop for non-supplementary uplink (non-SUL) or SUL respectively (e.g., startingBitOfFormat2-3, startingBitOfFormat2-3SecondLoop or startingBitOfFormat2-3SUL, startingBitOfFormat2-3SULSecondLoop) . In each block, the network entity may indicate the TPC command for the corresponding PC adjustment state or closed loop for each serving cell configured in a serving cell list (e.g., cc-IndexInOneCC-Set) .

[0191] In some aspects, when a UE is configured with an accumulative TPC command by the network entity, and / or if the UE is operating in the second scenario, the UE may reset the PC adjustment state to an initial value (e.g., set the PC adjustment state as 0 dB) , to determine the uplink transmission power based on the uplink power control equations for an uplink channel / RS (e.g., PUSCH / PUCCH / SRS as defined in 3GPP TS 38.213, section 7) , if one or multiple of the following occur:

[0192] - The UE receives the signaling to update or indicate the second pathloss offset for the uplink channel / RS, and / or

[0193] - The UE receives the configuration to enable the PC adjustment state reset after receiving the signaling to update the second pathloss offset for the uplink channel / RS

[0194] In some aspects, a TRP (e.g., TRP 104) may be associated with or identified by a TRP identifier. In some aspects, a network entity includes or configures a TRP identifier in UL configuration (s) that the network entity transmits to a UE (e.g., the UE 102) for UL transmission (s) via a TRP identified by the TRP identifier. In some aspects, the UL configuration (s) include DCI transmitted on a PDCCH, and / or PUSCH configuration, PUCCH configuration and / or SRS configuration included in a RRC message (e.g., RRC reconfiguration message or RRC resume message) that the network entity transmits to the UE. In some aspects, the UL transmission (s)  include PUSCH transmission (s) , PUCCH transmission (s) and / or SRS transmission (s) . In some aspects, the network entity includes a TRP identifier in DL configuration (s) that the network entity transmits to the UE 102 for DL transmission (s) via a TRP identified by the TRP identifier. In some aspects, the DL configuration (s) include DCI transmitted on a PDCCH, and / or channel state information (CSI) resource configuration, PDSCH configuration (s) and / or PDCCH configuration (s) included in a RRC message (e.g., RRC reconfiguration message or RRC resume message) that the network entity transmits to the UE. In some aspects, the DL transmission (s) include CSI reference signal (CSI-RS) transmission (s) , synchronization signal block (SSB) transmission (s) , PDSCH transmission (s) and / or PDCCH transmission (s) .

[0195] In some aspects, the network entity does not transmit / configure a TRP identifier to the UE and uses an implicit indication to indicate a TRP to the UE. For example, the implicit indication may be one of the following configuration parameters: a coresetPoolIndex, a candidate value of a coresetPoolIndex, dataScramblingIdentityPDSCH, dataScramblingIdentityPDSCH2-r16, or PUCCH-ResourceGroup-r16. In such cases, the UE derives the TRP identifier from the implicit indication. In some aspects, the network entity transmits a RRC message (e.g., RRC reconfiguration message or RRC resume message) including the configuration parameters to the UE.

[0196] In some aspects, the network entity configures or indicates to the UE a first TRP identifier. In some aspects, the UE derives a first TRP identifier (e.g., value) . In some aspects, the network entity configures or indicates to the UE a second TRP identifier (e.g., value) . In some aspects, the UE derives a second TRP identifier (e.g., value) . The first TRP identifier may be associated with the first TRP. The second TRP identifier may be associated with the second TRP.

[0197] In some aspects, the network entity configures a serving cell to be associated with the first TRP or the first TRP identifier (e.g., value) . In some aspects, the network entity configures a first CORESET associated with the serving cell or first TRP. The network entity may configure coresetPoolIndex #0 to identify the first CORESET. In some aspects, the network entity may transmit, to the UE, a RRC message (e.g., a RRC setup message, a RRC reconfiguration message, or a RRC resume message) configuring the first CORESET and / or including the coresetPoolIndex #0. Thus, the UE monitors a PDCCH on the first CORESET to receive DCIs from the network  entity, which implies that the UE monitors a PDCCH or receives DCIs from the network entity via the first TRP. In such a case, the UE determines that coresetPoolIndex #0 indicates the first TRP of the network entity. In some aspects, the first TRP identifier (e.g., value) may be coresetPoolIndex #0.

[0198] In some aspects, the network entity configures the serving cell to be associated with the second TRP or the second TRP identifier (e.g., value) . In some aspects, the second TRP is associated with a non-serving cell and the network entity indicates or configures the association in a RRC message. In some aspects, the network entity configures the non-serving cell to be associated with the second TRP or the second TRP identifier. In some aspects, the network entity configures a second CORESET to be associated with the serving cell, the non-serving cell or the second TRP. The network entity may configure coresetPoolIndex #1 to identify the second CORESET. In some aspects, the network entity may transmit, to the UE, a RRC message (e.g., a RRC setup message, a RRC reconfiguration message, or a RRC resume message) configuring the second CORESET and / or including the coresetPoolIndex #1. Thus, the UE monitors a PDCCH on the second CORESET to receive DCIs from the network entity, which implies that the UE monitors a PDCCH or receives DCIs from the network entity via the second TRP. In such a case, the UE determines that coresetPoolIndex #1 indicates the second TRP. In some aspects, the second TRP identifier may be coresetPoolIndex #1.

[0199] In some aspects, the network entity may configure the UE with one or more TCI state lists for a component carrier (CC) of a serving cell, where the CC may be a primary cell (PCell) or a secondary cell (SCell) . For example, the network entity may configure a joint TCI state list for a CC of a serving cell. The network entity may configure a DL TCI state list and / or a UL TCI state list for a CC of a serving cell. One joint TCI state list may comprise one or more joint TCI states. One DL TCI state list may comprise one or more DL TCI states. One UL TCI state list may comprise one or more UL TCI states.

[0200] In some aspects, the network entity may configure the UE with a first RRC parameter unifiedTCI-StateType. The first RRC parameter unifiedTCI-StateType may be a per-serving-cell configuration. The first RRC parameter unifiedTCI-StateType may indicate which type of TCI state list (s) for a serving cell. For example, the first RRC parameter unifiedTCI-StateType may indicate “joint” or “separate” . The first RRC parameter unifiedTCI-StateType may serve one or more the following purposes:

[0201] - If the first RRC parameter for a CC of the serving cell indicates “joint” , the network entity may explicitly or implicitly configure the UE with one or more joint TCI state list (s) for the CC of the serving cell;

[0202] - If the first RRC parameter for a CC of the serving cell indicates “separate” , the network entity may explicitly or implicitly configure the UE with one or more DL TCI state list (s) for the CC of the serving cell; or

[0203] - If the first RRC parameter for a CC of serving cell indicates “separate” , the network entity may explicitly or implicitly configure the UE with one or more UL TCI state list (s) for the CC of the serving cell.

[0204] In some aspects, if the network entity explicitly configures the UE with one or more TCI state list (s) for a CC of a serving cell, it may imply that the network entity configures the one or more TCI state list (s) (explicitly) under the RRC configuration (e.g., ServingCellConfig) for a CC of the serving cell.

[0205] In some aspects, if the network entity implicitly configures the UE with one or more TCI state list (s) for a CC of the serving cell, it may imply at least one of the following:

[0206] - The network entity configures the one or more TCI state list (s) under RRC configuration (e.g., ServingCellConfig) for other serving cell (s)  / CCs or a reference serving cell / CC;

[0207] - The UE refers the one or more TCI state list (s) from other serving cell (s)  / CCs or a reference serving cell / CC; or

[0208] - The UE determines that the one or more TCI state list (s) , which is for other serving cell / CCs or a reference serving cell / CC, is also for the CC of the serving cell.

[0209] In some aspects, the network entity may transmit the first MAC-CE to the UE after the network entity configures the UE with one or more TCI state list (s) for the CC of the serving cell or after the UE refers or determines one or more TCI state list (s) for the CC of the serving cell.

[0210] In some aspects, the first MAC-CE may activate or indicate one or more TCI states from the one or more TCI state list (s) . The one or more TCI states activated / indicated by the first MAC-CE may map to one or more TCI codepoints in a TCI field. In some aspects, the UE may apply or use the one or more TCI states activated / indicated by the first MAC-CE for performing DL and / or UL transmission. In some aspects, the first MAC-CE may be a Unified TCI States Activation / Deactivation MAC CE without a CORESET Pool ID field present. In some aspects, if the UE is operating in S-TRP  mode, the first MAC-CE may be a Unified TCI States Activation / Deactivation MAC CE without a CORESET Pool ID field present.

[0211] In some aspects, if the number of TCI states activated / indicated by the first MAC-CE is larger than one, those TCI states activated / indicated by the first MAC-CE may map to one or more TCI codepoints in a TCI field in a DCI. In some aspects, if the number of TCI states activated / indicated by the first MAC-CE is one, the UE may apply or use the TCI state activated / indicated by the first MAC-CE for performing DL and / or UL transmission. In some aspects, if the number of TCI states activated / indicated by the first MAC-CE is two, and / or if the two TCI states activated / indicated by the first MAC-CE are associated with different TRP identifier or applicable to a different TRP, then the UE may apply or use the two TCI states activated / indicated by the first MAC-CE for performing corresponding DL and / or UL transmission.

[0212] In some aspects, based on the first MAC-CE, one TCI state may be mapped to one TCI codepoint. In some aspects, based on the first MAC-CE, more than one TCI state may be mapped to one TCI codepoint. In some aspects, the TCI codepoint may indicate one of the following:

[0213] - One or more joint TCI states associated with the first TRP (identifier) or the second TRP (identifier) ;

[0214] - One or more DL TCI states associated with the first TRP (identifier) or the second TRP (identifier) ;

[0215] - One or more UL TCI states associated with the first TRP (identifier) or the second TRP (identifier) ;

[0216] - One or more DL TCI states associated with the first TRP (identifier) and one or more UL TCI states associated with the second TRP (identifier) .

[0217] In some aspects, the number of joint TCI states indicated in a TCI codepoint by the network entity may be up to 4. In some aspects, the number of DL TCI states indicated in a TCI codepoint by the network entity may be up to 4. In some aspects, the number of UL TCI states indicated in a TCI codepoint by the network entity may be up to 4.

[0218] For example, one of the following may be mapped to a TCI codepoint:

[0219] - One joint TCI state associated with the first TRP (identifier) , the other one joint TCI state associated with the second TRP (identifier) ;

[0220] - One DL TCI state associated with the first TRP (identifier) , one UL TCI state associated with the second TRP (identifier) ;

[0221] - One DL TCI state associated with the first TRP (identifier) , the other one DL TCI state associated with the second TRP (identifier) ;

[0222] - One UL TCI state associated with the first TRP (identifier) , the other one UL TCI state associated with the second TRP (identifier) ;

[0223] - One DL TCI state and one UL TCI state associated with the first TRP (identifier) , one joint TCI state associated with the second TRP (identifier) ;

[0224] - One DL TCI state and one UL TCI state associated with the first TRP (identifier) , one DL TCI state associated with the second TRP (identifier) ; or

[0225] - One DL TCI state and one UL TCI state associated with the first TRP (identifier) , one UL TCI state associated with the second TRP (identifier) .

[0226] In some aspects, the UE may receive the first DCI indicating one or more TCI states. The first DCI may indicate one or more TCI states by the TCI field in the first DCI. In response to receiving the first DCI, the UE may transmit, to the network entity, a first acknowledgement signal via a PUCCH or PUSCH transmission. In response to transmitting the first acknowledgement signal, the UE may apply or use the one or more TCI states activated / indicated by the first DCI for performing DL and / or UL transmission. In some aspects, in response to transmitting the first acknowledgement signal, the UE may apply or use the one or more TCI states activated / indicated by the first DCI for performing DL and / or UL transmission after a first application time period. In some aspects, the UE may apply or use the one or more TCI states activated / indicated by the first DCI for performing DL and / or UL transmission, starting from a first slot.

[0227] In some aspects, the first slot may be the earliest slot that is at least the first application time period after the last symbol of the PUCCH or PUSCH transmission. In some aspects, the earliest slot (for determining the first slot) and / or the first application time period may be determined based on the active BWP with the smallest subcarrier spacing (SCS) among the active BWP (s) of the carrier / serving cell (s) applying the one or more TCI states. In some aspects, the first application time period may be in units of symbols, sub-slots, slots, sub-frames, frames, milliseconds, or seconds. In some aspects, the first application time period may be beamAppTime.

[0228] In some aspects, the UE may receive the first MAC-CE indicating one or more TCI states. For example, the first MAC-CE may indicate one TCI state. For example,  the first MAC-CE may indicate more than one TCI state, each TCI state may be associated with a different TRP or TRP identifier. For example, the first MAC-CE may indicate two TCI states, where one TCI state is associated with the first TRP (identifier) and the other TCI state is associated with the second TRP (identifier) . In such cases, the UE may not receive a DCI indicating one or more TCI states to apply for performing subsequent DL and / or UL transmission. In response to receiving the first MAC-CE, the UE may transmit, to the network entity, a second acknowledgement signal via a PUCCH or PUSCH transmission. In response to transmitting the second acknowledgement signal, the UE may apply or use the one or more TCI states activated / indicated by the first MAC-CE for performing DL and / or UL transmission. In some aspects, in response to transmitting the second acknowledgement signal, the UE may apply or use the one or more TCI states activated / indicated by the first MAC-CE for performing DL and / or UL transmission after a second application time period. In some aspects, the UE may apply or use the one or more TCI states activated / indicated by the first MAC-CE for performing DL and / or UL transmission starting from a second slot.

[0229] In some aspects, the second slot may be the earliest slot that is at least the second application time period after the (last) slot of the PUCCH or PUSCH transmission. In some aspects, the second application time period may be where, μ may be the SCS configuration for the PUCCH or PUSCH transmission,  may be the subcarrier spacing configuration for kmac with a value of 0 for frequency range 1, and kmac is provided by K-Mac or kmac=0 if K-Mac is not provided.

[0312] The specific order or hierarchy of blocks in the processes and flowcharts disclosed herein is an illustration of example approaches. Hence, the specific order or hierarchy of blocks in the processes and flowcharts may be rearranged. Some blocks may also be combined or deleted. Dashed lines may indicate optional elements of the diagrams. The accompanying method claims present elements of the various blocks in an example order, and are not limited to the specific order or hierarchy presented in the claims, processes, and flowcharts.

[0313] The detailed description set forth herein describes various configurations in connection with the drawings and does not represent the only configurations in which the concepts described herein may be practiced. The detailed description includes specific details for the purpose of providing a thorough explanation of various concepts. However, these concepts may be practiced without these specific details. In some instances, well known structures and components are shown in block diagram form in order to avoid obscuring such concepts.

[0314] Aspects of wireless communication systems, such as telecommunication systems, are presented with reference to various apparatuses and methods. These apparatuses and methods are described in the following detailed description and are illustrated in the accompanying drawings by various blocks, components, circuits, processes, call flows, systems, algorithms, etc. (collectively referred to as “elements” ) . These elements may be implemented using electronic hardware, computer software, or combinations thereof. Whether such elements are implemented as hardware or software depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system.

[0315] An element, or any portion of an element, or any combination of elements may be implemented as a “processing system” that includes one or more processors. Examples of processors include microprocessors, microcontrollers, graphics processing units (GPUs) , central processing units (CPUs) , application processors, digital signal processors (DSPs) , reduced instruction set computing (RISC) processors, systems-on-chip (SoC) , baseband processors, field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) , programmable logic devices (PLDs) , state machines, gated logic, discrete hardware circuits, and other similar hardware configured to perform the various functionality described throughout this disclosure. One or more processors in  the processing system may execute software, which may be referred to as software, firmware, middleware, microcode, hardware description language, or otherwise. Software shall be construed broadly to mean instructions, instruction sets, code, code segments, program code, programs, subprograms, software components, applications, software applications, software packages, routines, subroutines, objects, executables, threads of execution, procedures, functions, or any combination thereof.

[0316] If the functionality described herein is implemented in software, the functions may be stored on, or encoded as, one or more instructions or code on a computer-readable medium, such as a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium. Computer-readable media includes computer storage media and can include a random-access memory (RAM) , a read-only memory (ROM) , an electrically erasable programmable ROM (EEPROM) , optical disk storage, magnetic disk storage, other magnetic storage devices, combinations of these types of computer-readable media, or any other medium that can be used to store computer executable code in the form of instructions or data structures that can be accessed by a computer. Storage media may be any available media that can be accessed by a computer.

[0317] Aspects, implementations, and / or use cases described herein may be implemented across many differing platform types, devices, systems, shapes, sizes, and packaging arrangements. For example, the aspects, implementations, and / or use cases may come about via integrated chip implementations and other non-module-component based devices, such as end-user devices, vehicles, communication devices, computing devices, industrial equipment, retail / purchasing devices, medical devices, artificial intelligence (AI) -enabled devices, machine learning (ML) -enabled devices, etc. The aspects, implementations, and / or use cases may range from chip-level or modular components to non-modular or non-chip-level implementations, and further to aggregate, distributed, or original equipment manufacturer (OEM) devices or systems incorporating one or more techniques described herein.

[0318] Devices incorporating the aspects and features described herein may also include additional components and features for the implementation and practice of the claimed and described aspects and features. For example, transmission and reception of wireless signals necessarily includes a number of components for analog and digital purposes, such as hardware components, antennas, RF-chains, power amplifiers, modulators, buffers, processor (s) , interleavers, adders / summers, etc. Techniques described herein may be practiced in a wide variety of devices, chip-level  components, systems, distributed arrangements, aggregated or disaggregated components, end-user devices, etc., of varying configurations.

[0319] The description herein is provided to enable a person skilled in the art to practice the various aspects described herein. Various modifications to these aspects will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and the generic principles defined herein may be applied to other aspects. Thus, the claims are not limited to the aspects described herein, but are to be interpreted in view of the full scope of the present disclosure consistent with the language of the claims.

[0320] Reference to an element in the singular does not mean “one and only one” unless specifically stated, but rather “one or more. ” Terms such as “if, ” “when, ” and “while” do not imply an immediate temporal relationship or reaction. That is, these phrases, e.g., “when, ” do not imply an immediate action in response to or during the occurrence of an action, but simply imply that if a condition is met then an action will occur, but without requiring a specific or immediate time constraint for the action to occur. The terms “may” , “might” , and “can” , as used in this disclosure, often carry certain connotations. For example, “may” refers to a permissible feature that may or may not occur, “might” refers to a feature that probably occurs, and “can” refers to a capability (e.g., capable of) . The phrase “For example” often carries a similar connotation to “may” and, therefore, “may” is sometimes excluded from sentences that include “for example” or other similar phrases.

[0321] Unless specifically stated otherwise, the term “some” refers to one or more. Combinations such as “at least one of A, B, or C” or “one or more of A, B, or C” include any combination of A, B, and / or C, such as A and B, A and C, B and C, or A and B and C, and may include multiples of A, multiples of B, and / or multiples of C, or may include A only, B only, or C only. Sets should be interpreted as a set of elements where the elements number one or more. Terms or articles such as “a” , “an” , and / or “the” may refer to one of an item, feature, element, etc., that the term or article precedes, or may refer to more than one of said item, feature, element, etc. that the term or article precedes. For example, the recitation “a widget” does not preclude reference to multiples of said widget, as “multiple widgets” necessarily includes “a widget” . Hence, the recitation “a widget” may be interpreted as “at least one widget” or, similarly, interpreted as “one or more widgets” .

[0322] Unless otherwise specifically indicated, ordinal terms such as “first” and “second” do not necessarily imply an order in time, sequence, numerical value, etc., but are  used to distinguish between different instances of a term or phrase that follows each ordinal term.

[0323] Reference numbers, as used in the specification and figures, are sometimes cross-referenced among drawings to denote same or similar features. A feature that is exactly the same in multiple drawings may be labeled with the same reference number in the multiple drawings. A feature that is similar among the multiple drawings, but not exactly the same, may be labeled with reference numbers that have different leading numbers but have one or more of the same trailing numbers (e.g., 206, 306, 406, etc., may refer to similar features in the drawings) . Hence, like numbers may refer to like actions.

[0324] Structural and functional equivalents to elements of the various aspects described throughout this disclosure that are known or later come to be known to those of ordinary skill in the art are expressly incorporated herein by reference and are encompassed by the claims. The words “module, ” “mechanism, ” “element, ” “device, ” and the like may not be a substitute for the word “means. ” As such, no claim element is to be construed as a means plus function unless the element is expressly recited using the phrase “means for. ” As used herein, the phrase “based on” shall not be construed as a reference to a closed set of information, one or more conditions, one or more factors, or the like. In other words, the phrase “based on A” , where “A” may be information, a condition, a factor, or the like, shall be construed as “based at least on A” unless specifically recited differently.

[0325] It is noted that throughout this disclosure, a TRP identifier may mean or be referred to as a (candidate) value of a TRP identifier. The first TRP identifier may be a first candidate value of a TRP identifier or a first TRP identifier value. The second TRP identifier may be a second candidate value of a TRP identifier or a second TRP identifier value.
