Abstract

Various solutions for sub-band configuration and transmission direction indication for sub-band full-duplex (SBFD) operations are described. An apparatus may receive a configuration from a network node. The configuration may include time location information and frequency location information of multiple SBFD sub-bands within a time-division duplexing (TDD) pattern. The apparatus may determine a time location of the SBFD sub-bands based on the time location information. Also, the apparatus may determine one or both of a first frequency location of an SBFD uplink (UL) sub-band and a second frequency location of an SBFD downlink (DL) sub-band among the SBFD sub-bands based on the frequency location information. Then, the apparatus may perform an UL transmission on the SBFD UL sub-band or a DL reception on the SBFD DL sub-band based on the determining.

Description

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR SUB-BAND CONFIGURATION AND TRANSMISSION DIRECTION INDICATION FOR SUB-BAND FULL-DUPLEX OPERATIONSCROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED PATENT APPLICATION (S)

[0001] The present disclosure is part of a non-provisional application claiming the priority benefit of U.S. Patent Application No. 63 / 553,657, filed 15 February 2024, and U.S. Patent Application No. 63 / 573,590, filed 3 April 2024. The contents of aforementioned applications are herein incorporated by reference in their entirety.TECHNICAL FIELD

[0002] The present disclosure is generally related to mobile communications and, more particularly, to sub-band configuration and transmission direction indication for sub-band full-duplex (SBFD) operations.BACKGROUND

[0003] Unless otherwise indicated herein, approaches described in this section are not prior art to the claims listed below and are not admitted as prior art by inclusion in this section.

[0004] Time division duplexing (TDD) is a widely used channel access technology in mobile communication systems, such as 4th generation (4G) Long Term Evolution (LTE) , and 5th generation (5G) New Radio (NR) systems. This technology is based on the half duplex channel access, where the entire component carrier (CC) bandwidth is used for either downlink (DL) or uplink (UL) in a slot, but not both. Among various TDD patterns (which define different DL-to-UL ratios) supported by 5G NR, a fixed DL-heavy TDD pattern (e.g., DDDSU) is generally preferred in most deployments. In a DL-heavy TDD pattern, allocation of a limited time duration for UL would result in reduced UL coverage and increased latency. As an enhancement, simultaneous existence of DL and UL transmissions or, more specifically, the SBFD operations at user equipment (UE) side or base station (BS) side within a conventional TDD band is introduced in 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 18.

[0005] In a typical mobile communication system, there may be various slot types, including DL-only slot (also called DL slot) , UL-only slot (also called UL slot) , flexible slot, and special slot. A flexible slot refers a slot initially configured without a specific transmission direction and can be reconfigured later as either DL or UL slot. A special slot refers to a slot in which some symbols are configured as flexible symbols and other symbols are configured as DL or UL symbols. SBFD generally introduces simultaneous UL transmissions in a part / partition of channel bandwidth (CBW) in DL slots within a TDD pattern. These slots where UL transmissions coexist with DL receptions can also referred to as SBFD slots. However, under current TDD framework for 5G NR, there may be some issues in supporting SBFD operations. For example, in the case where a special slot is indicated as partitioned, the partitioning of this slot would be unclear regarding which symbols of the slot should be or should not be partitioned. Also, in the case where a flexible slot is indicated as partitioned (i.e., configured as SBFD slot) , the transmission direction of sub-bands in this slot would be unclear. Furthermore, when symbol-level TDD configuration is supported, a slot may be configured with both SBFD symbols and non-SBFD symbols, but it would be unclear regarding which symbols within the slot are SBFD symbols and which symbols within the slot are non-SBFD symbols.

[0006] Therefore, there is a need to provide proper schemes to address these issues.SUMMARY

[0007] The following summary is illustrative only and is not intended to be limiting in any way. That is, the following summary is provided to introduce concepts, highlights, benefits and advantages of the novel and non-obvious techniques described herein. Select implementations are further described below in the detailed description. Thus, the following summary is not intended to identify essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended for use in determining the scope of the claimed subject matter.

[0011] In one aspect, a method may involve a network node transmitting a first configuration to an apparatus, wherein the first configuration comprises time location information and frequency location information of multiple SBFD sub-bands within a TDD pattern. The method may also involve the network node performing at least one of the following: (i) receiving an UL transmission from the apparatus on an SBFD UL sub-band based on the time location information and the frequency location information; and (ii) performing a DL transmission to the apparatus on an SBFD DL sub-band based on the time location information and the frequency location information.

[0012] It is noteworthy that, although description provided herein may be in the context of certain radio access technologies, networks and network topologies such as LTE, LTE-Advanced, LTE-Advanced Pro, 5G, NR, Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Narrow Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) , Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) , beyond 5G (B5G) , and 6th Generation (6G) , the proposed concepts, schemes and any variation (s)  / derivative (s) thereof may be implemented in, for and by other types of radio access technologies, networks and network topologies. Thus, the scope of the present disclosure is not limited to the examples described herein.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Overview

[0031] Implementations in accordance with the present disclosure relate to various techniques, methods, schemes and / or solutions pertaining to sub-band configuration and transmission direction indication for SBFD operations. According to the present disclosure, a number of possible solutions may be implemented separately or jointly. That is, although these possible solutions may be described below separately, two or more of these possible solutions may be implemented in one combination or another.

[0032] In 5G NR, the frequency resources of a DL slot are available only for DL transmissions, while the frequency resources of an UL slot are available only for UL transmissions. Within an SBFD slot, the frequency resources of the slot are shared for both DL and UL transmissions. More specifically, in an SBFD slot, the DL and UL sub-bands are separated by a constant number of resource blocks (RBs) , and these RBs are called guard band (GB) RBs which are not considered for any DL / UL data transmission. FIG. 1 illustrates two example scenarios 110 and 120 of TDD pattern configured with SBFD slots in accordance with an implementation of the present disclosure. Scenario 110 depicts a TDD pattern consisting of a DL slot (denoted by D) , one or more SBFD slots (denoted by X) , and an UL slot (denoted by U) , where the SBFD slots are configured in DUD frame structure in which the CBW is divided into three sub-bands and UL signals are transmitted in the central sub-band. Scenario 110 depicts another TDD pattern consisting of a DL slot (denoted by D) , one or more SBFD slots (denoted by X) , and an UL slot (denoted by U) , where the SBFD slots are configured in DU frame structure in which the CBW is divided into two sub-bands and UL signals are transmitted in the bottom sub-band. However, as mentioned previously, there may be some issues in supporting SBFD operations under current TDD framework for 5G NR.

[0033] In view of the above, the present disclosure proposes a number of schemes pertaining to sub-band configuration and transmission direction indication for SBFD operations. According to certain proposed schemes of the present disclosure, sub-band configuration is enhanced to provide detailed time and frequency location information (e.g., in slot-level and / or symbol-level) of SBFD sub-bands within a TDD pattern, such that the UE may determine the exact time and frequency locations of SBFD UL and DL sub-bands within the TDD pattern. In addition, according to certain proposed schemes of the present disclosure, a different interpretation of slot partitioning for a flexible or special slot is allowed for the UE to unambiguously determine the transmission direction of sub-bands either by the slot / symbol partitioning indication or the flexible / special-slot indication. Accordingly, by applying the proposed schemes of the present disclosure, SBFD operations may be enhanced to ensure normal operating of both UE and network.

[0034] FIG. 2 illustrates an example scenario 200 of a communication environment in which various solutions and schemes in accordance with the present disclosure may be implemented. Scenario 200 involves a UE 210 in wireless communication with a network 220 (e.g., a wireless network including a non-terrestrial network (NTN) and a TN) via a terrestrial network node 222 (e.g., an evolved Node-B (eNB) , a Next Generation Node-B (gNB) , a transmission / reception point (TRP) , or a gateway) and / or a non-terrestrial network node 224 (e.g., a satellite) . For example, the terrestrial network node 222 and the non-terrestrial network node 224 may form an NTN serving cell for wireless communication with the UE 210. In such communication environment, the UE 210, the network 220, and the terrestrial network node 222 and / or the non-terrestrial network node 224 may implement various schemes pertaining to sub-band configuration and transmission direction indication for SBFD operations in accordance with the present disclosure, as described below. It is noteworthy that, while the various proposed schemes may be individually or separately described below, in actual implementations some or all of the proposed schemes may be utilized or otherwise implemented jointly. Of course, each of the proposed schemes may be utilized or otherwise implemented individually or separately.

[0035] Under the first proposed scheme of the present disclosure, a pair of integer values indicating the time location of SBFD sub-bands (i.e., location of SBFD slots / symbols) may be provided / configured to the UE. Specifically, the pair of integer values may include a first integer value (e.g., slotPartitionStart) which indicates the position of the first slot that is indicated as partitioned, and a second integer value (e.g., nrofPartitionedSlots) which indicates the number of partitioned slots (starting from the first slot that is indicated as partitioned) . FIG. 3 illustrates an example scenario 300 of time location indication in sub-band configuration under the first proposed scheme in accordance with an implementation of the present disclosure.

[0036] In some implementations, the pair of integer values may be provided by higher layer signaling, such as a parameter (e.g., SBFD-ConfigCommon) within the ServingCellConfigCommonSIB information element (IE) and / or the ServingCellConfigCommon IE. FIG. 4 illustrates an example scenario 400 of higher layer signaling of time location indication in sub-band configuration under the first proposed scheme in accordance with an implementation of the present disclosure.

[0037] In some implementations, the UE may determine that any slot occurring before the slot indicated by the first integer value to be excluded from slot partitioning.

[0038] In some implementations, the UE may expect that any slot (e.g., DL slot or flexible slot) starting from the slot indicated by the first integer value may be indicated as partitioned.

[0039] In some implementations, the UE may expect that any slot (e.g., DL slot or flexible slot) starting from the slot indicated by the first integer value up to the first slot configured as uplink by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon may be indicated as partitioned.

[0040] In some implementations, the UE may determine any slot occurring after the slot with slot index = slotPartitionStart + nrofPartitionedSlots to be excluded from slot partitioning.

[0041] In some implementations, the set of partitioned slots using the pair of integer values (i.e., slotPartitionStart and nrofPartitionedSlots) may be contiguous.

[0042] Under the second proposed scheme of the present disclosure, the UE may be provided / configured with a set of integer values which indicate cell-specific configuration of the time location of SBFD sub-bands. More specifically, the set of integer values may be used to indicate the slots and / or symbols within a TDD pattern that are configured as partitioned slots / symbols. For example, the set of integer values may include a first pair of integers (e.g., startSlotIndex and endSlotIndex / nrofSlots) used to indicate the time location of the first slot and last slot within the TDD pattern that contains partitioned symbols, and a second pair of integers (e.g., startSymbolIndex and endSymbolIndex) used to indicate the time location of the first and last partitioned symbols within the TDD pattern. FIG. 5 illustrates an example scenario 500 of time location indication in sub-band configuration under the second proposed scheme in accordance with an implementation of the present disclosure.

[0043] In some implementations, the set of integer values which indicate the time location of SBFD sub-bands may be provided / configured to the UE by higher layer signaling, such as a parameter (e.g., SBFD-ConfigCommon) within the ServingCellConfigCommonSIB IE and / or the ServingCellConfigCommon IE. FIG. 6 illustrates an example scenario 600 of higher layer signaling of time location indication in sub-band configuration under the second proposed scheme in accordance with an implementation of the present disclosure.

[0044] In some implementations, the UE may determine that a slot / symbol is partitioned if the slot / symbol contains both DL and UL resources, or otherwise, the slot / symbol is non-partitioned. Only slots / symbols indicated as DL and / or flexible by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon may be indicated as partitioned.

[0045] In some implementations, when two TDD patterns are configured, a separate set of integer values may be provided to indicate the time location of SBFD sub-bands within each TDD pattern.

[0046] Under the third proposed scheme of the present disclosure, a new set of parameters (e.g., within SCS-SpecificCarrier) may be provided / configured to the UE as indications of frequency locations of SBFD sub-bands, including UL sub-band (s) , DL sub-band (s) , and / or guard-band (s) . FIG. 7 illustrates an example scenario 700 of higher layer signaling of frequency location indication in sub-band configuration under the third proposed scheme in accordance with an implementation of the present disclosure. Scenario 700 depicts two alternatives of frequency location indication, where one alternative uses an integer for indicating the starting resource block (RB) and the bandwidth of one DL / UL sub-band or guard-band, and another alternative uses a pair of integers for indicating the starting RB and the number of RB for one DL / UL sub-band or guard-band.

[0047] In some implementations (e.g., alternative 1 of FIG. 7) , each parameter may include a resource indicator value (RIV) indicating the starting RB and the bandwidth of a (DL / UL) sub-band or a guard-band, where a look-up table containing the mappings between RIVs and pairs of starting RB and bandwidth may be pre-defined in 3GPP standards (e.g., similar to the legacy RIV operation as used for bandwidth part (BWP) indication, i.e., the RIV-based indication as defined in TS 38.214 setting  ) .

[0048] In some implementations (e.g., alternative 2 of FIG. 7) , each parameter may include a pair of integers representing the starting RB and the number of RB for each sub-band.

[0049] Under the fourth proposed scheme of the present disclosure, a different interpretation of slot partitioning may be allowed or defined for a slot configured as a special slot by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon. Specifically, a special slot in this case may be any slot configured with DL / UL symbols and flexible symbols by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon. FIG. 8 illustrates an example scenario 800 of different interpretation of slot partitioning for special slots under the fourth proposed scheme in accordance with an implementation of the present disclosure.

[0050] In some implementations, the UE may not expect a slot configured as a special slot by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon to be indicated as partitioned (e.g., the UE may consider it as an error case if a slot configured as a special slot by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon is indicated as partitioned) .

[0051] In some implementations, the UE may expect only the special slot containing DL symbols and flexible symbols to be indicated as partitioned (e.g., the UE may consider it as an error case if a special slot containing flexible and UL symbols is indicated as partitioned) .

[0052] In some implementations, the UE may expect any special slot to be indicated partitioned (e.g., for a special slot containing flexible symbols and UL symbols, the UE may consider only the flexible symbols as partitioned) .

[0053] Under the fifth proposed scheme of the present disclosure, a different interpretation of slot partitioning may be allowed or defined for a slot configured as a flexible slot by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon. Specifically, a flexible slot in this case may be any slot configured with only flexible symbols by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon.

[0054] In some implementations, if a slot / symbol configured as “flexible” by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon is also indicated as partitioned, the slot / symbol partitioning overrides the “flexible” indication. In one example, the UE may no longer consider such slot / symbol as “flexible” . In one example, the UE may consider such slot / symbol as a partitioned slot / symbol following the configured sub-band configuration (e.g., a “DUD” or a “DU” configuration) . In one example, dedicated signaling using tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated (and / or group common signaling) may not be used to reconfigure such slot / symbol.

[0055] In some implementations, if a slot / symbol configured as “flexible” by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon is also indicated as partitioned, dedicated signaling may be used to determine the transmission direction of sub-bands. In one example, the UE may consider a partitioned “flexible” slot / symbol as downlink if the slot / symbol is reconfigured as “downlink” by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated (and / or group common signaling) , e.g., the UE only uses the downlink resources on the given slot / symbol. In one example, the UE may consider a partitioned “flexible” slot / symbol as uplink if the slot / symbol is reconfigured as “uplink” by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated (and / or group common signaling) , e.g., the UE only uses the uplink resources on the given slot / symbol.

[0056] FIG. 9 illustrates an example scenario 900 of different interpretations of slot partitioning for a flexible slot under the fifth proposed scheme in accordance with an implementation of the present disclosure. Part (A) of FIG. 9 depicts one alternative in which dedicated signaling is used to determine the transmission direction of sub-bands when the partitioned flexible slot is reconfigured as “downlink” by dedicated signaling, while part (B) of FIG. 9 depicts another alternative in which dedicated signaling is used to determine the transmission direction of sub-bands when the partitioned flexible slot is reconfigured as “uplink” by dedicated signaling.

[0057] Under the sixth proposed scheme of the present disclosure, a different interpretation of slot partitioning may be allowed or defined for a slot configured as a special slot by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated. Specifically, a special slot in this case may be any slot configured with DL symbols, UL symbols, and / or flexible symbols by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated.

[0058] In some implementations, the UE may expect the dedicated signaling to override the slot / symbol partitioning if the dedicated signaling (e.g., by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated) reconfigures a flexible slot as a special slot. Only slots configured as “flexible” by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon may be reconfigured as “special slots” by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated.

[0059] In some implementations, the UE may not expect a slot configured as “flexible” and “partitioned” to be reconfigured as a special slot by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated. For example, the UE may consider it as an error case if a slot configured as “flexible” and “partitioned” is reconfigured as a special slot by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated.

[0060] In some implementations, the UE may expect a slot configured as “flexible” and “partitioned” to be reconfigured as a special slot by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated. In one example, the UE may consider only the DL symbols and / or flexible symbols of the special slot as partitioned if a slot configured as “flexible” and “partitioned” is reconfigured as a special slot by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated. In one example, the UE may not consider the UL symbols of the special slot to be partitioned.

[0061] Under the seventh proposed scheme of the present disclosure, the dedicated signalling (e.g., existing tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated) may be (re) used for transmission direction indication in SBFD operations. In one example, the parameters “slotIndex” and “symbols” within tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated may be used to indicate the transmission direction on partitioned slots / symbols. FIG. 10 illustrates an example scenario 1000 of using dedicated signalling for transmission direction indication in SBFD operation under the seventh proposed scheme in accordance with an implementation of the present disclosure.

[0062] In some implementations, if the parameter “slotIndex” points to a partitioned slot and the parameter “symbols” is configured as allDownlink, the UE may consider that only DL operation is performed on all symbols in this slot, as shown in part (A) of FIG. 10. In one example, DL operation (e.g., physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring, physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) reception, channel state information-reference signal (CSI-RS) reception, synchronization signal block (SSB) reception, etc. ) may be performed on the DL sub-band (s) of all symbols in this slot. In one example, the UE may not perform any UL operation on the UL sub-band (s) of any symbols in this slot. The UE may consider any semi-static and / or dynamic UL configuration or resource allocation on the partitioned slot as invalid. The UE may perform cross link interference measurements on the UL sub-band (s) of symbols in this slot.

[0063] In some implementations, if the parameter “slotIndex” points to a partitioned slot and the parameter “symbols” is configured as allUplink, the UE may consider that only uplink operation is performed on all symbols in this slot, as shown in part (B) of FIG. 10. In one example, UL operation (e.g., physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmission, physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission, sounding reference signal (SRS) transmission, physical random access channel (PRACH) transmission, etc. ) may be performed on the UL sub-band (s) of all symbols in this slot. In one example, the UE may not perform any DL operation on the DL sub-band (s) of any symbols in this slot. The UE may consider any semi-static and / or dynamic DL configuration or resource allocation on the partitioned slot as invalid. The UE may perform cross link interference measurements on the UL sub-band (s) of symbols in this slot.

[0064] In some implementations, if the parameter “slotIndex” points to a partitioned slot and the parameter “symbols” is configured as explicit, the UE may consider that DL operation is performed on the DL sub-band (s) of some partitioned symbols at the start of this slot, UL operation is performed on the UL sub-band (s) of some partitioned symbols at the end of this slot, and the transmission direction of some symbols of this slot may not be determined, as shown in part (C) of FIG. 10. In one example, DL operation (e.g., PDCCH monitoring, PDSCH reception, CSI-RS reception, SSB reception, etc. ) may be performed on the DL sub-band (s) of the partitioned symbols that coincide with symbols included in nrofDownlinkSymbols. In one example, UL operation (e.g., PUCCH transmission, PUSCH transmission, SRS transmission, PRACH transmission, etc. ) may be performed on the UL sub-band (s) of the partitioned symbols that coincide with symbols included in nrofUplinkSymbols. In one example, the transmission direction of a partitioned symbol may not be determined if it does not coincide with symbols included in either nrofUplinkSymbols or nrofDownlinkSymbols. In one example, the transmission direction of the set of symbols not included in nrofUplinkSymbols or nrofDownlinkSymbols may be determined using UL / DL resource allocation or scheduling.

[0065] Under the eighth proposed scheme of the present disclosure, no interaction between dedicated signaling (e.g., existing tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated) and SBFD operation may be allowed.

[0066] In some implementations, existing UE-specific signalling for tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated may not be used to reconfigure slots / symbols within a TDD pattern that are indicated as partitioned.

[0067] In some implementations, the UE may consider it as an error case if the parameter “symbol type” within the UE-specific signalling for tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated points to a partitioned slot / symbol, and the UE may ignore the UE-specific signalling.

[0068] Under the nineth proposed scheme of the present disclosure, a UE may be instructed to use existing slot format indication (SFI) signalling for transmission direction indication in SBFD operation. FIG. 11 illustrates an example scenario 1100 of using SFI signaling for transmission direction indication in SBFD operation under the nineth proposed scheme in accordance with an implementation of the present disclosure.

[0069] In some implementations, the existing SFI index field value in downlink control information (DCI) format 2_0 may be reused to indicate the transmission direction on partitioned slots / symbols to the UE. For example, a slot / symbol may be considered as partitioned if the slot / symbol contains both DL and UL resources, and otherwise, the slot / symbol may be considered as non-partitioned. If a slot / symbol indicated as flexible by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon is also indicated as partitioned, the UE may no longer consider the slot / symbol as flexible. A SFI indication may not be required to reconfigure such slots / symbols. The SFI index field value may not be used to revert a partitioned slot / symbol to a non-partitioned slots / symbol.

[0070] In some implementations, the symbol format of each slot within a slot format combination may be used to indicate transmission direction when the slot coincides with a slot indicated as partitioned.

[0071] In some implementations, if the slot format coincides with a partitioned slot and the slot format indicates a set of symbols of the slot as DL symbols, the UE may consider that only DL operation is performed on the set of symbols, as shown in FIG. 11. In one example, DL operation (e.g., PDCCH monitoring, PDSCH reception, CSI-RS reception, SSB reception, etc. ) may be performed on the DL sub-band (s) of set of symbols indicated as downlink by the corresponding slot format. The UE may perform cross link interference measurements on the UL sub-band (s) of set of symbols indicated as downlink by the corresponding slot format.

[0072] In some implementations, if the slot format coincides with a partitioned slot and the slot format indicates a set of symbols of the slot as uplink symbols, the UE may consider that only UL operation is performed on the set of symbols, as shown in FIG. 11. In one example, UL operation (e.g., PUCCH transmission, PUSCH transmission, SRS transmission, PRACH transmission, etc. ) may be performed on the UL sub-band (s) of set of symbols indicated as uplink by the corresponding slot format.

[0073] In some implementations, if the slot format coincides with a partitioned slot and the slot format indicates a set of symbols of the slot as flexible symbols, the UE may consider that the transmission direction of the set of symbols is not determined, as shown in FIG. 11. In one example, the UE may perform either DL or UL operation on the set of symbols indicated as flexible by the corresponding slot format. In one example, the transmission direction of the set of symbols indicated as flexible may be determined using UL / DL resource allocation or scheduling.

[0074] Under the tenth proposed scheme of the present disclosure, a UE may be instructed to use SFI signalling to override the transmission direction indication by UE-specific higher layer signalling.

[0075] In some implementations, the UE is instructed to override a higher layer indication of transmission direction on partitioned symbols using existing SFI index field value in DCI format 2_0. In one example, a slot / symbol may be considered as partitioned if the slot / symbol contains both DL and UL resources, and otherwise, the slot / symbol may be considered as non-partitioned.

[0076] In some implementations, the existing SFI index field value in DCI format 2_0 may be used to override transmission direction indication by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated signalling (e.g., the transmission direction indication by tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated as aforementioned in the seventh proposed scheme of the present disclosure) .

[0077] In some implementations, if a set of slots included in a slot format combination coincides with slots indicated as partitioned, the UE may ignore the transmission direction indication by UE-specific higher layer signalling. In one example, the UE may follow the procedure for transmission direction indication using SFI as aforementioned in the nineth proposed scheme of the present disclosure.

[0078] Under the eleventh proposed scheme of the present disclosure, no interaction between existing signalling for SFI and SBFD operation may be allowed.

[0079] In some implementations, existing UE-specific signalling for SFI may not be used to reconfigure slots / symbols within a TDD pattern that are indicated as partitioned.

[0080] In some implementations, the UE may consider it as an error case if SFI signalling points to a partitioned slot / symbol, and the UE may ignore the SFI signalling.

[0081] Under the twelfth proposed scheme of the present disclosure, a UE may be provided with UE-specific configuration of sub-band frequency location in SBFD operation. FIG. 12 illustrates an example scenario 1200 of UE-specific configuration of sub-band frequency location in SBFD operation under the twelfth proposed scheme in accordance with an implementation of the present disclosure.

[0082] In some implementations, the UE-specific configuration of sub-band frequency location may enable the configuration of UE-specific guard-band (s) on a partitioned slot / symbol. In one example, a slot / symbol may be considered as partitioned if the slot / symbol contains both DL and UL resources, and otherwise, the slot / symbol may be considered as non-partitioned.

[0083] In some implementations, the UE-specific configuration of sub-band frequency location may be achieved by adjusting cell-specific configuration of sub-band frequency location. In one example, if the separation between DL and UL sub-bands of a partitioned symbol is less than the required guard-band size for a given UE (based on UE capability) , some RBs at the edge of the cell-specific DL sub-band resources may be considered as unusable RBs by the given UE. In one example, the separation between DL and UL sub-bands of a partitioned symbol includes guard-band (s) resources, if a guard-band is configured. In one example, the unusable RBs of the cell-specific DL sub-band resources are RBs at the boundary between DL sub-band and UL sub-band (or guard-band, if configured) . In one example, the number of unusable RBs (N) is determined such that the required guard-band size (based on UE capability) for the given UE is met. In one example, if a configured cell-specific guard-band size is less than the required guard-band size of the given UE, the number of unusable RBs (N) at the edge of the DL sub-band (s) is configured such that the guard-band requirement of the UE is satisfied when N is added to the cell-specific guard-band. In one example, if the separation between DL and UL sub-bands of a partitioned symbol is bigger than the required guard-band size, no RBs of the cell-specific DL sub-band resources are considered as unusable RBs by the given UE. The UE may maintain the cell-specific DL sub-band.

[0084] In some implementations, the number of unusable RBs (N) may be explicitly signalled to the UE by the network, as shown in FIG. 12. In one example, the network may provide a new higher layer UE-specific parameter (e.g., unusedPRBs ) to indicate the number of unusable RBs. In one example, if the parameter is absent, the UE may apply the cell-specific configuration of sub-band frequency location. In one example, if the parameter is present, the UE may consider the indicated number of RB at the edge of DL sub-band (s) as unusable RBs.

[0085] In some implementations, the number of unusable RBs may be implicitly determined by the UE. In one embodiment, if the separation between DL and UL sub-bands is less than the required guard-band size for a given UE, the UE may implicitly determine the number of RBs (N) such that the UE guard-band requirement is satisfied. The UE may consider the determined number of RBs as unusable RBs.

[0086] Under the thirteenth proposed scheme of the present disclosure, a UE may determine the UE-specific sub-band frequency location implicitly when the parameter downlinkChannelBW-PerSCS-List is used to configure a UE-specific carrier. FIG. 13 illustrates an example scenario 1300 of UE-specific sub-band frequency location configuration under the thirteenth proposed scheme in accordance with an implementation of the present disclosure.

[0087] In some implementations, the UE may determine the UE-specific sub-band frequency location using the overlap between a cell-specific sub-band configuration and a UE-specific carrier configuration.

[0088] In some implementations, if the UE-specific carrier overlaps with a cell-specific DL sub-band (s) and UL sub-band (partially or fully) , the UE may consider the overlapping DL resources as the UE-specific DL sub-band (s) , and the overlapping UL resources as the UE-specific UL sub-band (s) . If there is a separation between cell-specific DL and UL sub-band (s) , including guard-band (s) , the same separation may exist between UE-specific DL and UL sub-band (s) .

[0089] In some implementations, the UE may perform only DL operation (e.g., PDCCH monitoring, PDSCH reception, CSI-RS reception, SSB reception, etc. ) on the UE-specific DL sub-band (s) .

[0090] In some implementations, the UE may perform only UL operation (e.g., PUCCH transmission, PUSCH transmission, SRS transmission, PRACH transmission, etc. ) on the UE-specific UL sub-band (s) . The UE may perform cross link interference measurements on the UE specific UL sub-band (s) .

[0091] In some implementations, if the UE-specific carrier only overlaps (fully or partially) with a cell-specific DL sub-band, the UE may perform only DL operation on the overlapping resources. In one example, the UE may not perform UL operation on the UE-specific carrier.

[0092] In some implementations, if the UE-specific carrier only overlaps (fully or partially) with a cell-specific UL sub-band, the UE may perform only UL operation on the overlapping resources. In one example, the UE may not perform DL operation on the UE-specific carrier.
