Sample transfer adapter for aseptically transferring a sample to a culture media bottle and a combination thereof

Abstract

In a first aspect of the subject invention, a combination is provided herein including a culture media bottle having: a bottle having a reservoir and an opening; and a resealable septum sealing the opening. The combination further includes a transfer adapter having: a sealed bag in which the culture media bottle is contained; a port fixed to the bag; a cup-shaped guide fixed to the port having an open end formed to receive the septum of including a lumen, secured to the port within the guide and extending from the port in a direction towards the open end of the guide, wherein, with insertion of the septum of the culture media bottle into the guide, the needle pierces the septum to define a flow passage into the reservoir; and, input tubing passing through the port into communication with the needle.
