[0037] As briefly mentioned, the network device may transmit system information such as SIB to the terminal device. The SIB may be involved in different communication systems, including but not limited to non-terrestrial network (NTN) , or any other suitable communication system.

[0038] In some mechanisms, SIB1 is transmitted on the downlink (DL) shared channel (SCH) with a periodicity of 160ms and variable transmission repetition periodicity within 160ms. The default transmission repetition periodicity of SIB1 may be 20ms but the actual transmission repetition periodicity may be up to network implementation. For synchronization signal block (SSB) and control resource set (CORESET) multiplexing pattern 1, SIB1 repetition transmission period is 20ms. For SSB and CORESET multiplexing pattern 2 / 3, SIB1 transmission repetition period is the same as the SSB period. SIB1 includes information regarding the availability and scheduling (e.g.,  mapping of SIBs to system information (SI) message, periodicity, SI-window size) of other SIBs with an indication whether one or more SIBs are only provided on-demand and, in that case, the configuration needed by the UE to perform the SI request. SIB1 is cell-specific SIB.

[0039] In some mechanisms, the following information is transmitted be mean of the downlink control information (DCI) format 1_0 with cyclic redundancy check (CRC) scrambled by system information radio network temporary identifier (SI-RNTI) :

[0040] ·frequency domain resource assignment –bits (for example, is the size of CORESET 0) ,

[0041] ·time domain resource assignment –4 bits,

[0042] ·virtual resource block (VRB) -to-physical resource block (PRB) mapping –1 bit,

[0043] ·modulation and coding scheme –5 bits,

[0044] ·redundancy version –2 bits,

[0045] ·system information indicator –1 bit,

[0046] ·reserved bits –17 bits for operation in a cell with shared spectrum channel access in frequence range 1 or for operation in a cell in frequency range 2-2; otherwise 15 bits.

[0047] In some mechanisms, it is studied and specified beneficial downlink coverage enhancements targeting support for additional reference satellite payload parameters covering both geosynchronous orbit (GSO) and non-GSO (NGSO) constellations operating in frequency range one (FR1) -NTN or frequency range two (FR2) -NTN.

[0048] Additional reference satellite payload parameters assuming power sharing among satellite beams or different satellite beam patters or size (wide or narrow) across satellite footprint are defined, such that satellite beams may not all be simultaneously active or may be active below the nominal EIRP density per satellite beam due to limited power and limited feeder link bandwidth.

[0049] The corresponding power sharing assumptions and necessary link level and system level evaluation methodology and relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) for evaluations of the coverage are defined, to allow for identification of physical channels / signals and system-level aspects that need enhancements and the corresponding needed improvements.

[0050] Solutions are studied and if needed specified, including link level enhancements for FR1-NTN (e.g. for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) , physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) ) and / or system level enhancements for FR1-NTN and / or FR2-NTN, allowing dynamic and flexible power sharing between satellite beams or different satellite beam patterns / size (i.e. wide or narrow) across the satellite footprint.

[0051] However, based on PDSCH SIB1 coverage evaluation results collected from different sources, in such scenarios, the PDSCH SIB1 coverage needs to be enhanced. For example, for PDSCH carrying SIB1 with parameter low earth orbits (LEO) 600km Set1-3 FR1, about 11 sources observed that there is a coverage gap for PDSCH with SIB1 option 1 (that is, with a payload size of 800bits) . The coverage gap is around 4.1 dB on average compared to carrier to noise ratio (CNR) of -1.9dB. Therefore, the SIB1 coverage needs to be enhanced.

[0052] Likewise, based on results on PDSCH SIB19 coverage evaluation collected from different sources, with parameter LEO600km Set1-3 FR1, about 10 sources observed that there is a coverage gap for PDSCH with SIB19. The coverage gap is around 3.5 dB on average compared to CNR of -9.9 dB. The SIB19 coverage needs to be enhanced, as well.

[0053] In some mechanisms, for PDSCH scheduled by the fallback DCI format, neither DL slot aggregation nor PDSCH repetition is no longer applied. In this case, the PDSCH carrying SIB1, other SIB, paging message, random access response (RAR) , message B (MsgB) , and / or message 4 (Msg4) may have the limited coverage or they may occupy more resources for the reliable transmission which results the increase on the active time of a beam footprint. Meanwhile, for PDSCH carrying paging message, RAR, or MsgB, the transport block (TB) size (TBS) may be further reduced for a given amount of resource elements (Res) by using the TB scaling factor indicated by the DCI. This kind of code rate reduction may be used to improve PDSCH decoding performance. To reduce the total active time for a given beam footprint, the concept of the scaling factor indicated by the DCI could be applied to SIB as well. Moreover, to lower the coding rate, the reserved state could be replaced with 1 / 8.

[0054] For PDSCH transmissions scheduled by non-fallback DCI, to reduce the total active time for a given beam footprint, the existing scaling factor for TBS determination may be used even for SIBs. Moreover, the reserved state of the DCI indication for the scaling factor of TBS determination may be replaced with 1 / 8.

[0055] Example embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions for system information repetition transmission. In a solution, a network device transmits, to a terminal device, control information regarding the system information repetition transmission. For example, the control information may include repetition information indicating a repetition number of repetitions of system information. The repetitions of the system information are transmitted across a plurality of periodicities of the system information. For another example, the control information may include periodicity information indicating a periodicity number of periodicities of the system information. For a further example, the control information may include an indication of an update of the system information. For a still further example, the control information may include an indication of a plurality of transmission occasions for the repetitions of the system information in a periodicity of the system information. The terminal device receives the control information. The network device transmits the repetitions of the system information to the terminal device based on the control information. The terminal device receives the repetitions of the system information from the network device based on the control information.

[0056] In this way, how to transmit the system information repetitions and how to receive the system information repetitions can be determined and informed to the terminal device. The system information repetition such as SIB1 repetition, SIB 19 repetition or other SIB repetitions in time domain can be achieved. The system information coverage can be enhanced.

[0057] Principles and implementations of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the figures.

[0058] FIG. 1 illustrates a schematic diagram of an example communication environment 100 in which example embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented. In the communication environment 100, a plurality of communication devices, including a terminal device 110 and a network device 120, can communicate with each other.

[0059] In the example of FIG. 1, the terminal device 110 may be a UE and the network device 120 may be a base station serving the UE. The serving area of the network device 120 may be called a cell (not shown) .

[0060] In some example embodiments, the network device 120 may transmit one or  more SIBs to the terminal device 110. For example, the SIB (s) may be transmitted via PDSCH.

[0061] In some example embodiments, the terminal device 110 and the network device 120 may be in an NTN system. For example, the terminal device 110 may be a satellite which may host a radio access network (RAN) node. The network device 120 may be referred to as an NTN device. The NTN system may include a satellite communication network, a high-altitude platform system (HAPS) , and / or an air-to-ground network.

[0062] Alternatively, or in addition, in some example embodiments, the terminal device 110 and the network device 120 may be in a terrestrial network. In the following description, some example embodiments will be described with the communication network being an NTN as an example. It is to be understood that those embodiments may also be applied for other communication networks. Scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0063] It is to be understood that the number of devices and their connections shown in FIG. 1 are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The communication environment 100 may include any suitable number of devices configured to implementing example embodiments of the present disclosure. Although not shown, it would be appreciated that one or more additional devices may be located in the cell, and one or more additional cells may be deployed in the communication environment 100. It is noted that although illustrated as a network device, the network device 120 may be another device than a network device. Although illustrated as a terminal device, the terminal device 110 may be other device than a terminal device.

[0064] In the following, for the purpose of illustration, some example embodiments are described with the terminal device 110 operating as a UE and the network device 120 operating as a base station. However, in some example embodiments, operations described in connection with a terminal device may be implemented at a network device or other device, and operations described in connection with a network device may be implemented at a terminal device or other device.

[0065] In some example embodiments, if the terminal device 110 is a terminal device and the network device 120 is a network device, a link from the network device 120 to the terminal device 110 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , while a link from the terminal device 110 to the network device 120 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In DL, the network  device 120 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the terminal device 110 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In UL, the terminal device 110 is a TX device (or a transmitter) and the network device 120 is a RX device (or a receiver) .

[0066] The communications in the communication environment 100 may conform to any suitable standards including, but not limited to, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) , Long Term Evolution (LTE) , LTE-Evolution, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) , New Radio (NR) , Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) , Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) , Machine Type Communication (MTC) and the like. The embodiments of the present disclosure may be performed according to any generation communication protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Examples of the communication protocols include, but not limited to, the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, 5.5G, 5G-Advanced networks, or the sixth generation (6G) networks.

[0067] Reference is made to FIG. 2, which illustrates a signaling flow 200 of system information repetition transmission in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purposes of discussion, the signaling flow 200 will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1, for example, by using the terminal device 110 and the network device 120.

[0068] In operation, the network device 120 transmits (210) , to the terminal device 110, control information associated with the system information. The terminal device 110 receives (220) the control information. The network device 120 transmits (230) , to the terminal device 110, repetitions of the system information based on the control information. The terminal device 110 receives (240) the repetitions of the system information from the network device 120 based on the control information. By way of example, the control information may be the DCI such as DCI format 1_0. For example, the control information may be included in at least one or two reserve bits of DCI.

[0069] In an example embodiment, the system information may include a first system information block such as SIB1. In another example embodiment, the system information may include an SIB comprising satellite assistance information such as SIB19. In a further example embodiment, the system information may include an SIB comprising further  system information, such as SIB6 or any other suitable SIB. For purpose of illustration, in some embodiments, it is assumed that the system information is SIB1 or SIB19. It is to be understood that although some embodiments are described with the system information SIB1 or SIB19, those embodiments for system information repetition can be applied to any other suitable SIB. Scope of embodiments of the present disclosure is not limited here. Further embodiments regarding the control information for the system information will be described in detail below.

[0070] In some embodiments, the control information includes repetition information indicating a repetition number of repetitions of system information. The reserved bits in DCI such as DCI 1_0 may be used for indicating the repetition information. The repetition number of repetitions of the system information are transmitted across a plurality of periodicities of the system information. In an example embodiment, the repetition information may include the repetition number of repetitions of the system information. That is, the repetition number may be directly indicated by DCI. The repetition transmission may cross a plurality of SIB periods such as SIB1 periods.

[0071] In another example embodiment, a list of repetition numbers is predetermined or defined. An example repetition number list may be 2, 4, 6, 16......It is to be understood that these example repetition numbers are only for purpose of illustration, without suggesting any limitation. The repetition number list may include any other suitable numbers. The repetition information (also referred to as repetition indication) may include an index or identifier of the repetition number in the list of repetition numbers. For example, a repetition number list may be defined, and the repetition number may be indicated by DCI. The repetition transmission may cross a plurality of SIB periods such as SIB1 periods. By indicating the repetition number in the list without directly indicating the repetition number, the signaling overhead can be reduced.

[0072] Table 1 below shows an example of DCI including the repetition information. It is to be understood that the parameters and the bit numbers shown in Table 1 are only for purpose of illustration, without suggesting any limitation. Those parameters may be varied. Those parameters may use more or less bits. Scope of embodiments of the present disclosure is not limited here.

[0073] Table 1

[0074] In a further example embodiment, a list of repetition numbers may be included in a first SIB such as SIB1. The repetition information (also referred to as repetition number indication) may include an index of the repetition number in the list of repetition numbers. A second SIB such as SIB 19 or other suitable SIB may be transmitted by the network device 120 with the repetition number. In other words, a repetition (number) list may be configured in SIB1, and the repetition number for SIB19 may be indicated in DCI. The repetition transmission of SIB19 may cross a plurality of SIB19 periods.

[0075] In some embodiments, the control information may be transmitted (210) via PDCCH. In an option, a plurality of PDCCHs and a plurality of PDSCH may be transmitted to the terminal device 110. A single PDCCH may be followed by a single PDSCH. The system information may be transmitted via the PDSCH (s) . The repetition information may be updated in DCI. The repetition information may be indicated at a first PDCCH within a period. The first PDCCH may be the beginning PDCCH within the system information period.

[0076] By way of example, the network device 120 may transmit a plurality of PDCCHs within a period. The plurality of PDCCHs is associated with the repetitions of the system information. That is, a plurality of PDSCHs following the plurality of PDCCHs includes the repetitions of the system information. The terminal device 110 may receive the  plurality of PDCCHs within the period. The terminal device 110 may determine the repetition information based on the first PDCCH of the plurality of PDCCHs. That is, the terminal device 110 may only check the repetition information of the first PDCCH within a period.

[0077] Alternatively, in some embodiments, a single PDCCH may be followed by a plurality of PDSCHs. The plurality of PDSCHs includes the repetitions of the system information. The repetition information may be included in the PDCCH. By way of example, the network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, a PDCCH associated with the repetitions of the system information. The PDCCH indicates the repetition information. The terminal device 110 may receive the PDCCH. The terminal device 110 may determine the repetition number of the repetitions of the system information based on the PDCCH. In addition, the terminal device 110 may determine redundance version (s) (RV (s) ) of the repetition (s) of the system information based on a table. For example, each repetition transmission may correspond to a respective RV. Different repetitions may correspond to different RVs. The table may be predefined or configured.

[0078] FIG. 3A illustrates an example diagram 300 showing the repetition transmissions of the system information in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In FIG. 3A, it is assumed that the system information is SIB1. In the example of FIG. 3A, the repetition information in the control information indicates that the SIB1 repetition number is 16. In scenarios that the SIB1 periodicity (also referred to as period) is 160ms and the SSB period is 20ms, 16 repetitions of SIB1 may be transmitted across SIB1 period 310 and SIB1 period 320, as shown. It is to be understood that the SIB1 period and the SSB period may be different. The repetitions of SIB1 may be transmitted across the SIB1 periods in a similar way for different SIB1 period or different SSB period. It is also to be understood that repetitions of SIB19 and any other SIB may be transmitted in a similar way.

[0079] In this way, the repetitions of SIB1 or SIB19 or any other SIB can be transmitted across a plurality of SIB periods. The terminal device 110 may receive the repetitions of the SIB based on the repetition information. The SIB coverage can thus be enhanced.

[0080] Referring back to FIG. 2, in some embodiments, the control information includes periodicity information indicating a periodicity number of periodicities of the system  information. The periodicity information may include the periodicity number (also referred to as period number) . That is, the periodicity number may be directly indicated by DCI. The repetitions of the system information may be transmitted within the periodicity number of periodicities of the system information.

[0081] In an example embodiment, a list of periodicity numbers may be predetermined or defined or configured. For example, the periodicity number list may include 1, 2, 3, 4, ......It is to be understood that these example periodicity numbers are only for purpose of illustration, without suggesting any limitation. The periodicity number list may include any other suitable numbers. The periodicity information may include an index or identifier of the periodicity number in the list of periodicity numbers. For example, reserved bits in DCI may indicate the periodicity number in the list. The repetitions of the system information may be transmitted within the periodicity number of periodicities of the system information. By indicating the periodicity number in the list without directly indicating the periodicity number, the signaling overhead can be reduced.

[0082] In a further embodiment, a list of periodicity numbers may be included in a first system information block such as SIB1. For example, a periodicity number list may be configured in SIB1. The periodicity information may include an index or identifier of the periodicity number in the list of periodicity numbers. For example, the periodicity number in the list may be indicated by DCI. The repetitions of the system information may be transmitted within the periodicity number of periodicities of the system information. The terminal device 110 may receive the system information of these periodicities to combine. For example, the terminal device 110 may receive SIB1 or SIB19 of the periodicity number of periodicities to combine.

[0083] FIG. 3B illustrates another example diagram 350 showing the repetition transmissions of the system information in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In FIG. 3B, it is assumed that the system information is SIB1. In the example of FIG. 3B, the periodicity information in the control information indicates that the periodicity number is two. In scenarios that the SIB1 periodicity (also referred to as period) is 160ms and the SSB period is 20ms, 16 repetitions of SIB1 may be transmitted within two SIB1 periodicities such as SIB1 period 360 and SIB1 period 370, as shown.

[0084] In this way, the repetitions of SIB1 or SIB19 or any other SIB can be transmitted across the plurality of SIB periods based on the periodicity number. The terminal device 110 may receive the repetitions of the SIB based on the periodicity number. The SIB coverage can thus be enhanced.

[0085] Referring back to FIG. 2, in some embodiments, the control information includes an indication of an update of the system information. For example, the indication may be an indication received in a period (such as SIB periodicity) indicating that the system information changes in the period. As used herein, such indication may be referred to as “SIB update indication” . In embodiments wherein the SIB is SIB1, the indication may be referred to as “SIB1 update indication” . The SIB update indication may be informed by DCI when the next / new SIB period starts. The terminal device 110 may only check PDCCH scheduling the first SIB within this period since SIB may not be updated within the SIB period such as 160ms or other time length.

[0086] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may combine the repetitions of the system information based on the control information. By way of example, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device, a first PDCCH within a first period, and the first PDCCH includes the SIB update indication. If the SIB update indication indicates that the SIB is updated in the first period, the terminal device 110 may determine to combine the repetitions of the system information within at least one period before the first period.

[0087] By way of example, 1 bit in reserved bits field of DCI 1_0 may be used. For example, 1 means the SIB is updated and 0 means that SIB is not updated. For another example, 0 means that SIB is updated and 1 means that SIB is not updated. In the following description, it is assumed that the SIB update indication being 1 means the SIB is updated and 0 means that SIB is not updated. In response to receiving the first PDCCH within a SIB period, the terminal device 110 may determine whether to combine the repetitions of SIB based on the update indication. For example, if the SIB1 update indication is 1, the terminal device 110 may combine SIB1 with that of the front period. Regarding how many periods of SIB to be combine, it may be up to implementation of the terminal device 110 such as UE implementation.

[0088] Table 2 shows an example of DCI with the SIB1 update indication. It is to be understood that the parameters and the bit numbers shown in Table 2 are only for purpose of illustration, without suggesting any limitation. Those parameters may be varied. Those parameters may use more or less bits. Scope of embodiments of the present disclosure is not limited here.

[0089] Table 2

[0090] In another example embodiment, the indication for system information update may be a toggled indication. The toggled indication may also be referred to as a new SIB indication (NSI) . A difference between a first toggled indication received in a first period and a second toggled indication received in a second period after the first period indicating whether the system information changes in the second period.

[0091] The difference between the first toggled indication and the second toggled indication being equal to zero indicates that the system information remains the same from the first period to the second period. In other words, if the NSI is not toggled, SIB may be considered not updated. If the system information remaining the same from the first period to the second period, the network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, the second toggled indication being same with the first toggled indication. The  difference between the first toggled indication and the second toggled indication being inequal to zero indicates that the system information changes in the second period. In other words, if the NSI is toggled, SIB may be considered updated. That is, if the second toggled indication is different from the first toggled indication, it means that the SIB in the second period changes. If the system information changes in the second period after the first period, the network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, the second toggled indication different from the first toggled indication.

[0092] The NSI may be a binary parameter. For example, the NSI may be initialized to be zero. That is, for an initial SIB in a beginning SIB periodicity, the NSI may be zero. In the following SIB periods, if the SIB changes in a certain period, the NSI changes to be one in that period. If the SIB remains the updated value during a plurality of periods since the certain period, the NSI may remains to be one in these periods. The NSI may changes to be zero again since a further change of the SIB in a further SIB period. It is to be understood that the NSI may be initialized to be any other value, such as 1. Two values of the NSI may also be set to “true” and “false” or any other suitable two different values. Scope of the present disclosure is not limited here.

[0093] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may combine the repetitions of the system information based on the NSI. Specifically, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, a first toggled indication in a first period and a second toggled indication in a second period after the first period. If the second toggled indication is different from the first toggled indication, the terminal device 110 may determine to combine the repetitions of the system information within at least one period before the second period. If the second toggled indication is same with the first toggled indication, the terminal device 110 may continue to receive the repetitions of the system information in the second period.

[0094] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the control information includes an indication of a plurality of transmission occasions for the repetitions of the system information in a periodicity of the system information. For example, the plurality of occasions for the repetitions may include a plurality of available occasions without being assigned to a further transmission or reception. The transmission occasions may be PDCCH occasions. Similar to multiple SSB positions in new radio (NR) in unlicensed spectrum (NR-U) , more repetition number of SIB may be increased within each repetition  transmission, such as 20ms or one SSB period. Since PDCCH occasion is associated with SSB, limited PDCCH occasions within one repetition transmission period. In order to achieve more transmission opportunities, more PDCCH occasions may be specified to schedule more SIB1. SIB1 may thus be transmitted more times within a repetition transmission period.

[0095] In embodiments where the system information includes SIB19 for broadcasting the satellite assistance information or a further SIB, more PDCCH occasions or larger SI window may be configured to increase the repetition transmission number of SIB19 or the further SIB. The increased PDCCH occasions or larger SI window may be up to the network (NW) implementation.

[0096] Several embodiments regarding the control information and the system information repetition transmission based on the control information have been described. With these embodiments, the repetition of system information such as repetition of SIBs can be transmitted in time domain. That is, the time domain SIB repetition can be achieved. In some embodiments, the time domain SIB repetition may be applied in combination with frequency domain SIB repetition. For example, TB scaling mechanisms may be used. The TB scaling may be indicated in DCI 1_0 similar to SIB1 repetition. By combining the time domain SIB repetition with the frequency domain SIB repetition, the SIB coverage can be enhanced.

[0097] In some mechanisms, it is proposed that a message associated with a random access (RA) procedure such as Msg4 may be transmitted from the network device to the terminal device. Based on results on PDSCH Msg4 coverage evaluation collected from different sources, with parameter LEO600km Set1-3 FR1, about 11 sources observed that there is a coverage gap for PDSCH with Msg4. The coverage gap is around 4.7dB on average compared to CNR of -9.9dB.

[0098] In release (Rel) 18, hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback such as HARQ acknowledgement (ACK) for Msg4 has been enhanced. However, the Msg4 coverage issue still needs to be solved. To enhance the Msg4 coverage, Msg4 repetition may be considered. However, for Msg4 repetition, downlink assignment index (DAI) field in DCI is used for indicating the repetition number for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) . For Msg4 repetition, the current DAI field may be used since scheduling flexibility may be impacted if other fields are used. If DAI field is also used  for Msg4 repetition, if both Msg4 repetition and HARQ feedback repetition are needed, how to indicate the two repetition numbers needs to be considered.

[0099] Example embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions for system information repetition transmission. In a solution, a terminal device transmits, to a network device, a request for a repetition of a message associated with a random access procedure (such as, Msg4) and a repetition of an ACK (such as, HARQ ACK) of the message. The network device receives the request. The network device transmits, to the terminal device, an indication of at least one of: a first repetition number of repetitions of the message, or a second repetition number of repetitions of the ACK. The terminal device receives the indication. In this way, in situations where both Msg4 and ACK of the Msg4 needs repetition transmissions, the respective repetition number can be informed to the terminal device.

[0100] Reference is made to FIG. 4, which illustrates a signaling flow 400 of repetition transmission of a message in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purposes of discussion, the signaling flow 400 will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1, for example, by using the terminal device 110 and the network device 120.

[0101] In operation, the terminal device 110 transmits (420) , to the network device 120, a request for a repetition of a message associated with a random access procedure and a repetition of an acknowledgement of the message. For example, the message may be Msg4. The acknowledgement of the message may be ACK or HARQ ACK of the Msg4. The network device 120 receives (430) the message.

[0102] In some embodiments, the request may be indicated by a combined common control channel (CCCH) logical channel identifier (LCID) . The terminal device 110 may determine (410) whether a first condition for the repetition of the message and a second condition for the repetition of the acknowledgement are satisfied. If both the first condition and the second condition are satisfied, the terminal device 110 may include the request in the combined CCCH LCID. That is, if both the first and second conditions are met, the terminal device 110 may transmit (420) the request to the network device 120.

[0103] In some embodiments, if the first condition for the repetition of the message is not satisfied and the second condition for the repetition of the acknowledgement is satisfied, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120, a first request for the repetition of the acknowledgement. The network device 120 may receive the first  request. The network device 120 may transmit the second repetition number of repetitions of the ACK to the terminal device, for example, via DCI. The terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, DCI indicating the second repetition number of repetitions of the ACK. That is, if only the condition for Msg4 HARQ-ACK repetition is satisfied, the repetition number in DCI may be used for indicating the Msg4 HARQ-ACK repetition.

[0104] If the first condition for the repetition of the message is satisfied and the second condition for the repetition of the acknowledgement is not satisfied, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120, a second request for the repetition of the message. The network device 120 may receive the second request. The network device 120 may transmit the first repetition number of repetitions of the message such as Msg4 to the terminal device, for example, via DCI. The terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, DCI indicating the first repetition number of repetitions of the message. For example, the first repetition number may be included in a DAI field in the DCI. That is, if only the condition for Msg4 repetition is satisfied, the repetition number in DCI may be used for indicating the Msg4 repetition.

[0105] As mentioned, if both first and second conditions are met, combined CCCH LCID may be used for indicating the Msg4 repetition and Msg4 HARQ-ACK repetition. Table 3 illustrates an example table showing values of LCID for UL-SCH when the LX field is set to 1. As shown, the LCID values of CCCH corresponding to codepoint 14 to 19 may be used for indicating the Msg4 repetition and Msg4 HARQ-ACK repetition. If the first condition is satisfied and the second condition is not satisfied, the LCID values of CCCH corresponding to codepoint 8-13 may be used for indicating the Msg4 repetition. It is to be understood that Table 3 is only for purpose of illustration, without suggesting any limitations. The codepoint value, the index value, the LCID values and the content shown in Table 3 may be varied.

[0106] Table 3

[0107] In response to receiving (430) the request, the network device 120 transmits (440) , to the terminal device 110, an indication of at least one of: a first repetition number of repetitions of the message, or a second repetition number of repetitions of the  acknowledgement. The terminal device 110 receives (450) the indication. That is, the first repetition number of Msg4 repetitions and / or the second repetition number of ACK repetitions may be informed to the terminal device 110.

[0108] In some embodiments, the first repetition number may be included in the DAI field in DCI from the network device 120. Table 4 shows an example of DCI with the DAI field for the first repetition number. It is to be understood that Table 4 is only for purpose of illustration, without suggesting any limitations. The parameter, field and values shown in Table 4 may be varied.

[0109] Table 4

[0110] If the first condition for Msg4 repetition is met, DAI field in DCI 1_0 may be used for indicating the first repetition number of Msg4 repetitions, as shown in Table 4. In this way, the terminal device 110 can be informed about the Msg4 repetition number. The Msg4 repetition reception can be improved. The Msg4 coverage can thus be enhanced.

[0111] In some embodiments, the second repetition number of repetitions of ACK may be indicted by MAC CE. For example, if the first condition for Msg4 repetition and the second condition for Msg4 HARQ-ACK repetition are met and corresponding CCCH LCID indicates that repetition for Msg4 and repetition for Msg4 HARQ-ACK are needed, the DAI field in DCI may be used for indicating Msg4 repetition. The second repetition number for Msg4 HARQ-ACK may be indicated by the MAC CE. FIG. 5 illustrates an example of MAC CE 500 in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown, a RepInd field 510 in MAC CE 500 may indicate the second repetition number of the Msg4 HARQ-ACK. It is to be understood that the bit numbers, the positions, and / or the name of the RepInd field 510 are only for purpose of illustration, without suggesting any limitations.

[0112] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, a PDCCH comprising the first repetition number. For example, DAI field in DCI transmitted via the PDCCH includes the first repetition number. The terminal device 110 receives the PDCCH. The network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, the first repetition number of repetitions of the message such as Msg4. The terminal device 110 may receive the first repetition number of repetitions of the message from the network device 120.

[0113] The network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, an MAC CE indicating the second repetition number. For example, the MAC CE 500 may include the RepInd field 510 indicating the second repetition number. The terminal device 110 may receive the MAC CE. The network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, the second repetition number of repetitions of the acknowledgement such as Msg4 HARQ-ACK. The terminal device 110 may receive the second repetition number of repetitions of the acknowledgement from the network device 120. In this way, the terminal device 110 can be informed of both the first repetition number for Msg4 and the second repetition number for Msg4 HARQ-ACK. The reception of Msg4 and reception of Msg4 HARQ- ACK can be improved. The Msg4 coverage can be enhanced.

[0114] Several embodiments regarding system information repetition transmission and Msg4 repetition transmission have been described. These embodiments can be applied separately, or in addition. Other system information block or other message involving in a procedure such as RA procedure may be transmitted with repetitions in a similar manner. Scope of embodiments of the present disclosure is not limited here.

[0115] FIG. 6 illustrates a flowchart of a communication method 600 implemented at a terminal device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 600 will be described from the perspective of the terminal device 110 in FIG. 1.

[0116] At block 610, the terminal device 110 receives, from a network device, control information comprising at least one of: repetition information indicating a repetition number of repetitions of system information, the repetitions of the system information being transmitted across a plurality of periodicities of the system information, periodicity information indicating a periodicity number of periodicities of the system information, an indication of an update of the system information, or an indication of a plurality of transmission occasions for the repetitions of the system information in a periodicity of the system information.

[0117] At block 620, the terminal device 110 receives, from the network device, the repetitions of the system information based on the control information.

[0118] In some example embodiments, the repetition information comprises the repetition number of repetitions of the system information.

[0119] In some example embodiments, a list of repetition numbers is predetermined, and the repetition information comprises an index of the repetition number in the list of repetition numbers.

[0120] In some example embodiments, a list of repetition numbers is included in a first system information block, and the repetition information comprises an index of the repetition number in the list of repetition numbers, a second system information block being transmitted by the network device with the repetition number.

[0121] In some example embodiments, the method 600 further comprises: receiving,  from the network device, a plurality of physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs) within a period, the plurality of PDCCHs being associated with the repetitions of the system information; and determining the repetition information based on a first PDCCH of the plurality of PDCCHs.

[0122] In some example embodiments, the method 600 further comprises: receiving, from the network device, a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) associated with the repetitions of the system information, the PDCCH indicating the repetition information; and determining redundancy versions of the repetitions based on a table.
