Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices and methods of communication. In one aspect, a terminal device may receive a configuration indicating that measurement results of a first number of groups of first RSs are to be reported upon a set of events is fulfilled. Based on the configuration, the terminal device may perform an operation comprising at least one of the following: if the configuration indicates that measurement results of a third number of second RSs are not reported, transmitting first information indicating that at least one RS in the first number of groups of first RSs does not satisfy the set of events; or if the configuration indicates that the measurement results of the third number of second RSs are reported, transmitting second information indicating that a set of RS resources associated with the third number of second RSs is used for evaluation of the set of events. In this way, information that not all the reported beams can satisfy the set of events and / or information of a RS for a current beam may be reported to NW, and NW scheduling may be optimized.

[0035] For a beam report, a set of measurement results may be derived based on various signals and / or channels, including at least one of the following: a synchronization signal and physical broadcast channel block (SSB) for intra-cell and inter-cell, and periodic channel status information (CSI) -RS for beam management; semi-persistent CSI-RS and aperiodic CSI-RS; if L1-SINR measurement is applied, it is assumed that existing RS or RS combination (e.g., channel measurement resource (CMR) only, CMR+zero-power (ZP)  / non-zero-power (NZP) -interference measurement resource (IMR) ) for SINR is reused; a TCI state, comprising a unified TCI state, a DL or joint TCI state, a UL TCI state, a spatial relation, or a RS associated with the TCI state (including QCL reference RS configured in the TCI states, or QCL type D RS) ; a SSB, comprising a SSB from a serving TRP, a SSB from a serving cell, a SSB from other cells, or a SSB from other cells with different physical cell identities (PCIs) ; a CSI-RS, comprising a CSI-RS for beam management (e.g., configured for L1-RSRP / SINR report) , a CSI-RS for channel acquisition (e.g., configured for RI / PMI / CQI report) , a CSI-RS for mobility, a CSI-RS from other cell, a CSI-RS for tracking, a CSI-RS for candidate beams for beam failure recovery, or a CSI-RS for radio link monitoring or for beam failure detection; or a sounding reference signal (SRS) , a positioning reference signal (PRS) , a phase tracking reference signal (PTRS) , a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) , a pathloss reference signal (PL-RS) , etc.

[0036] As used herein, a beam may be associated with a RS (e.g., SSB, CSI-RS, or SRS) , a RS resource, RS resource ID, (channel / interference) measurement RS / resource, QCL RS, source RS, reference RS, type of QCL (e.g., type A / B / C / D) , (source / reference) RS of a type of QCL, TCI state, spatial Rx parameter, UL Tx spatial filter, spatial filter, path loss (reference) RS, power control related parameter, spatial relation, or spatial relation information. In view this, the above terms may be interchangeably used with each other. In summary, a beam may refer to a resource that enables a spatially directional communication, and thus may be identified by other suitable parameters in other embodiments. The present  disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0037] Principles and implementations of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the figures.

[0038] EXAMPLE OF COMMUNICATION NETWORK

[0039] FIG. 1 illustrates an example communication network 100 in which embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented. As shown in FIG. 1, the communication network 100 includes a terminal device 110 and a network device 120 served by the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, the network device 120 and the terminal device 110 may communicate with direct links or channels.

[0040] In some embodiments, a mTRP transmission and reception may be supported. In order to support mTRP, the network device 120 may be equipped with one or more transmission and reception points (TRPs) . For example, the network device 120 may be coupled with multiple TRPs in different geographical locations to achieve better coverage. As shown in FIG. 1, the communication network 100 may further include a TRP 130 and a TRP 131. The network device 120 may be equipped with the TRPs 130 and 131. For example, the TRP 130 may be a micro node, and the TRP 131 may be a macro node. The terminal device 110 may communicate with the network device 120 via both the TRP 130 and the TRP 131. It is to be noted that more TRPs may also be feasible.

[0041] In some embodiments, a sTRP transmission and reception may also be supported. For example, the terminal device 110 may communicate with the network device 120 via the TRP 130 or TRP 131. Alternatively, in case of the MTRP mode, the terminal device 120 communicates with the network via both of the first TRP 130-1 and the second TRP 130-2.

[0042] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may provide one or more serving cells, and the TRPs 130 and 131 may be included in a same serving cell or different serving cells or cells with different PCIs.

[0043] It is to be understood that the number of network devices and / or terminal devices and / or TRPs in FIG. 1 is given for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitations to the present disclosure. The communication network 100 may include any suitable number of network devices and / or terminal devices and / or TRPs adapted for implementing implementations of the present disclosure.

[0044] The communications in the communication network 100 may conform to any  suitable standards including, but not limited to, global system for mobile communications (GSM) , long term evolution (LTE) , LTE-evolution, LTE-advanced (LTE-A) , new radio (NR) , wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) , code division multiple access (CDMA) , GSM EDGE radio access network (GERAN) , machine type communication (MTC) and the like. The embodiments of the present disclosure may be performed according to any generation communication protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Examples of the communication protocols include, but not limited to, the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, 5.5G, 5G-advanced networks, or the sixth generation (6G) networks.

[0045] In some scenarios, as shown in FIG. 1, the terminal device 110 may transmit a UL to the network device 120 and receive a DL from the network device 120 in a direct link or channel. In some scenarios, as shown in FIG. 1, the terminal device 110 may transmit a UL via mTRP (e.g., via the TRPs 130 and 131) but only receive a DL via a sTRP (e.g., via the TRP 131) . In some scenarios, the terminal device 110 may transmit a UL via mTRP (e.g., via the TRPs 130 and 131) and receive a DL via mTRP (e.g., via the TRPs 130 and 131) . In some scenarios, the terminal device 110 may transmit a UL via sTRP (e.g., via the TRP 130 or 131) and receive a DL via sTRP (e.g., via the TRP 130 or 131) .

[0046] Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution of communication for a UEI beam report. It is to be noted that the solution may be applied to any suitable scenarios and not limited to the scenarios as described above. The solution will be described in detail with reference to FIG. 2 below.

[0047] In the context of the present disclosure, the term ‘first RS’ may correspond to a new beam, and the term ‘second RS’ may correspond to a current beam. An event in a set of events may be associated with the new beam (i.e., first RS) and / or the current beam (i.e., second RS) .

[0048] EXAMPLE IMPLEMENTATION OF UEI BEAM REPORT

[0049] FIG. 2 illustrates a signaling chart illustrating a process 200 of communication according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the process 200 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. The process 200 may involve the terminal device 110 and the network device 120 as illustrated in FIG. 1. It is to be understood that steps and an order of the steps in FIG. 2 are merely for illustration, and not  for limitation. For example, the order of the steps may be changed. Some of the steps may be omitted or any other suitable additional steps may be added.

[0050] As shown in FIG. 2, the network device 120 may transmit 210 a configuration for a UEI beam report to the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, the configuration may indicate that measurement results of a certain number (for convenience, also referred to as a first number and denoted as P herein) of groups of RSs (for convenience, also referred to as first RSs herein) are to be reported upon a set of events (i.e., one or more events) is fulfilled. A group (e.g., each group) in the first number of groups may comprise a certain number (for convenience, also referred to as a second number and denoted as N herein) of first RSs.

[0051] In some embodiments, for mTRP UEI report, P ≥ 1. In some embodiments, P may be configured by the network device 120. Alternatively, P may be reported by the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, at least one of the P groups of RSs satisfies an event in the set of events for mTRP or combinations of events in the set of events for mTRP. Alternatively, the P groups of RSs satisfy an event in the set of events for mTRP or combinations of events in the set of events for mTRP.

[0052] In some embodiments, the configuration may indicate whether measurement results of a certain number (for convenience, also referred to as a third number and denoted as M herein) of second RSs are reported in addition to the first number of groups of first RSs. In other words, a RRC signaling may enable or disable whether M current beams are always reported in addition to P×N new beams. In some embodiments, M may be associated with number of TRPs in mTRP. For example, M may be equal to the number of TRPs.

[0053] As shown in FIG. 2, the terminal device 110 may perform 220 an operation based on the configuration. The operation may be used for UEI report related information delivery for NW scheduling optimization.

[0054] Generally, for Event-2, in a report instance, it is at least supported that: N ≥ 1 beam (s) are reported in the report instance, and at least one of N reported beam (s) should satisfy the condition of Event-2. It is worth mentioning that not each of the N reported beams can satisfy the condition of Event-2 for N>1. Even worse, some of N reported beams may be worse than the current beam. They are reported only because a report format requires consistency. If NW enables that the current beam is always reported, NW can tell from the report which reported beams are actually not good. However, if NW disables the current beam reported in addition to the N ≥ 1 beam (s) , it may be not easy, and NW may  consider that all the reported beams are better than the current beam and NW may schedule a reported beam worse than the current beam for further transmission by mistake. To avoid such potential issue, it may be useful to let a terminal device to indicate if at least one of N reported beams are worse than the current beam. For example, for Event-2, when N > 1 beam (s) are reported in the report instance, it is proposed to support a terminal device to indicate if at least one of N reported beams are worse than the current beam, if the current beam report is disabled. For example, if a reporting of the current beam is disabled, a terminal device may set a RSRP field in the report as an out-of-range value to provide such information. More details will be described as below.

[0055] With reference to FIG. 2, the terminal device 110 may determine 221 whether the configuration indicates that the measurement results of the M second RSs are reported in addition to the P groups of first RSs. If the configuration indicates that the measurement results of the M second RSs are not reported, the terminal device 110 may transmit 222, to the network device 120, information (for convenience, also referred to as first information herein) indicating that at least one RS in the P groups of first RSs does not satisfy the set of events, i.e., at least one new beam does not satisfy the set of events. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120, information indicating which first RS in the P groups of first RSs satisfies the set of events. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120, information indicating whether a corresponding first RS in the P groups of first RSs satisfies the set of events or not.

[0056] That is, if the reporting of the M current beams is disabled, measurement results of the M current beams are not to be reported. If P > 1, at least one of P reported groups of beams does not satisfy the set of events. In this case, the terminal device 110 may report information (i.e., the first information) that at least one of P reported groups of beams does not satisfy the set of events.

[0057] In some embodiments, the first information may be reported for M reported RSRPs. Alternatively, the first information may be reported only for one of the M reported RSRPs, e.g., for the one with lower measured L1-RSRP. Alternatively, the first information may be reported for the M-1 reported RSRPs, e.g., except the largest measured RSRP reported. Alternatively, the first information may be reported for some of the M reported RSRPs, e.g., for those not satisfying the condition or for those with lower measured L1-RSRP than the current beam.

[0058] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may report the first information by setting a reported value of a measurement result of the at least one RS (i.e., at least one new beam) to be a certain value (for convenience, also referred to as a first value herein) . In some embodiments, the reported value of the measurement result of the at least one RS may be a differential value. In this case, the first value may be a bit sequence 1111 or 0000, if the differential value is reported in 4-bits. In some embodiments, the reported value of the measurement result of the at least one RS may be an absolute value. In this case, the first value may be a bit sequence 11111111 or 00000000, if the absolute value is reported in 7-bits.

[0059] For example, the first information may be a special status in reported RSRP (i.e., beam quality) corresponding to the at least one new beam. Regardless what measured L1-RSRP is, the special status may be an ‘out-of-range’s tate, e.g., 0000 or 1111 if differential RSRP is used as the reported value, or 0000000 or 11111111 if absolute RSRP is used as the reported value. Alternatively, regardless what the measured RSRP is, if the measured L1-RSRP of the corresponding new beam is worse than RSRP of the current beam by an offset, the reported RSRP of the corresponding new beam is set to the special status. It is to be noted that the offset may be 0 dB, or any other values configured by NW or reported by the terminal device 110 or predefined.

[0060] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may report the first information by setting a reported value of an indicator of the at least one RS to be a certain value (for convenience, also referred to as a second value herein) . In some embodiments, the second value may be all 0 or all 1.

[0061] For example, the first information may be a special status in a beam indicator corresponding to a new beam. The beam indicator may be an index or an indicator of a CSI-RS resource, SSB, TCI state, and so on. The beam indicator may be of the same type as a configured RS for the current beam. The beam indicator may be represented by a fixed size field in uplink control information (UCI) or a variable size field in UCI. If it is fixed size (e.g., X bits) , the X’ most significant bits (MSBs) or the less significant bits (LSBs) may be used to indicate a CSI-RS resource index or a SSB index, e.g., 7 MSBs for a CSI-RS resource index, log2 (T) MSBs for a CSI-RS resource indicator where T denotes the number of resources in a set. In some embodiments, the special status may be all 0 or all 1.

[0062] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may report the first information by setting both the reported value of the measurement result of the at least one RS and the  reported value of the indicator of the at least one RS to be a certain value (for convenience, also referred to as a third value herein) . In some embodiments, the third value may be all 0 or all 1. That is, the first information may be a special joint status of both the beam indicator and the beam quality, e.g., all 0 or all 1 for both the beam indicator and the beam quality.

[0063] In this way, if the reporting of the M current beams is disabled, the terminal device 110 may report the first information in addition to the measurement results of first RSs (i.e., new beams) in the P groups of first RSs. With the first information, the network device 120 may be aware which of the first RSs do not satisfy the set of events.

[0064] With reference to FIG. 2, if the configuration indicates that the measurement results of the M second RSs are reported (i.e., if the reporting of the M current beams is enabled) , the terminal device 110 may report 223 measurement results of the M current beams (i.e., measurement results of the M second RSs) in addition to the measurement results of first RSs in the P groups of first RSs. In this case, the network device 120 may compare the measurement results of first RSs in the P groups of first RSs with the measurement results of the M second RSs. In this way, the network device 120 may also be aware which of the first RSs do not satisfy the set of events or whether a corresponding one of first RSs satisfies the set of events or not.

[0065] For illustration, some example embodiments for determination and reporting of the measurement result of the first RS and / or the second RS will be described below.

[0066] In some embodiments, if P=1, at least one of N reported beams in one group does not satisfy the set of events. In this case, the terminal device 110 may report information (i.e., the first information) that at least one of N reported beams does not satisfy the set of events or whether a corresponding beam of N reported beams satisfies the set of events or not.

[0067] In some embodiments, the N reported beams do not include a reported current beam. In some embodiments, if the current beam is not to be reported, N may be equal to 1. Otherwise, N may be configured as being larger than 1. In some embodiments, N may be suggested by the terminal device 110, e.g., together with the UEI beam report.

[0068] For example, if N = 1, a reported L1-RSRP value may be defined by a 7-bit value in the range [-140, -44] dBm with 1dB step size. If N > 1, the terminal device 110 may use differential RSRP based reporting, where the largest measured value of RSRP is quantized to a 7-bit value in the range [-140, -44] dBm with 1dB step size, and the differential RSRP is  quantized to a 4-bit value. The differential RSRP value may be computed with 2dB step size with a reference to the largest measured RSRP value which is part of the same RSRP reporting instance. An example mapping between the reported RSRP and the measured RSRP in case that a current beam is not reported may be described in Table 1 below.

[0069] Table 1

[0070] An example mapping between the reported RSRP and the measured RSRP in case that a current beam is reported may be described in Table 2 below.

[0071] Table 2

[0072] In some embodiments, once the set of events is fulfilled, the terminal device 110 may initiate the UEI beam report. In some embodiments, if within a time window, the number of measurement instances in which the set of events is fulfilled for at least one same beam is greater than or equal to a fourth number (denoted as K here) , the terminal device 110 may initiate the UEI beam report.

[0073] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120, capability information indicating that the time window is supported for event trigger. In some embodiments, the time window may be configured for the first RS and / or the second  RS (i.e., for the new beam and / or the current beam) . In some embodiments, the fourth number K may be configured for the first RS and / or the second RS (i.e., for the new beam and / or the current beam) . In some embodiments, K may also indicate consecutive number of measurement instances in which the set of events is fulfilled for at least one same beam.

[0074] It is assumed that K measurement instances are configured for the set of events. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the reported value of the measurement result of the first RS in the P groups of first RSs or the measurement result of the second RS in the M second RSs based on the latest measurement instance, regardless of a value of K. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120, capability information indicating that the reported value based K measurements in a time window is supported.

[0075] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the reported value of the measurement result of the first RS in the P groups of first RSs or the measurement result of the second RS in the M second RSs based on the latest measurement instance in the K measurement instances.

[0076] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the reported value of the measurement result of the first RS in the P groups of first RSs or the measurement result of the second RS based on K latest measurement instances.

[0077] In some embodiments where the reported value is an absolute value, the terminal device 110 may determine the reported value of the measurement result of the first or second RS by a processing on K measured values at the K latest measurement instances. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the reported value of the measurement result of the first or second RS based on an average value of the K measured values. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the reported value of the measurement result of the first or second RS based on a filtered value of the K measured values. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the reported value of the measurement result of the first or second RS based on a minimum value of the K measured values. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the reported value of the measurement result of the first or second RS based on a maximum value of the K measured values. It is to be noted that any other suitable processing may also be feasible.

[0078] In some embodiments, the reported value may be a differential value between the  measurement results of the first RS and the second RS at the K latest measurement instances. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine a difference value between the measurement results of the first RS and the second RS at each of the K latest measurement instances, and determine the differential value by processing difference values for the K latest measurement instances. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the differential value based on an average value of the difference values for the K latest measurement instances. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the differential value based on a filtered value of the difference values for the K latest measurement instances. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the differential value based on a minimum value of the difference values for the K latest measurement instances. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the differential value based on a maximum value of the difference values for the K latest measurement instances. It is to be noted that any other suitable processing may also be feasible.

[0079] Alternatively, the terminal device 110 may determine a processed measurement result of the first RS by processing the measurement results of the first RS at the K latest measurement instances. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the processed measurement result of the first RS based on an average value, filtered value, minimum value or maximum value among the measurement results of the first RS at the K latest measurement instances. It is to be noted that any other suitable processing may also be feasible.

[0080] The terminal device 110 may determine a processed measurement result of the second RS by processing the measurement results of the second RS at the K latest measurement instances. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the processed measurement result of the second RS based on an average value, filtered value, minimum value or maximum value among the measurement results of the second RS at the K latest measurement instances. It is to be noted that any other suitable processing may also be feasible.

[0081] Then the terminal device 110 may determine the differential value based on the processed measurement result of the first RS and the processed measurement result of the second RS. It is to be noted that the processing on the measurement results of the first RS and the processing on the measurement results of the first RS need to be aligned.

[0082] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120, information of a filter coefficient associated with the filtered value. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120, information indicating how the reported value of the measurement result of the first or second RS is obtained.

[0083] In some embodiments, if the M second RSs (i.e., current beams) are to be reported, e.g., if the RRC signaling enables that the M second RSs are always reported in addition to the P groups of first RSs (i.e., new beams) , reported information of a second RS in the M second RSs may comprise at least one of an indicator (i.e., beam indicator) or a measurement result (i.e., beam quality) of the second RS.

[0084] In some embodiments, if a RS resource for a second RS (i.e., current beam) is configured by the network device 120, the terminal device 110 may not provide the indicator for the second RS. In some embodiments, if a RS resource for a second RS (i.e., current beam) is not configured by the network device 120, the terminal device 110 may provide the indicator for the second RS. In some embodiments, the indicator may be an index or an indicator of a CSI-RS resource, SSB, TCI state, and so on. In some embodiments, the indicator may be a type of the second RS.

[0085] In some embodiments, the type of the second RS may indicate a QCL RS in an indicated TCI state. In some embodiments, the type of the second RS may indicate a CSI-RS for beam management derived from the QCL RS in the indicated TCI state. In some embodiments, the type of the second RS may indicate a tracking reference signal (TRS) as a measurement RS resource for determining a measurement result of the second RS. In some embodiments, the type of the second RS may indicate a configured RS resource associated with the second RS. In some embodiments, the type of the second RS may indicate a SSB which is QCLed with the QCL RS in the indicated TCI state.

[0086] In some embodiments, the beam indicator of the second RS may be represented by a fixed size field in UCI or a variable size field in UCI. If it is a fixed size (e.g., X bits) , the X’MSBs or the LSBs may be used to indicate a CSI-RS resource index or a SSB index, e.g., 7 MSBs for a CSI-RS resource index, ceil (log2 (T) ) MSBs for a CSI-RS resource indicator where T denotes the number of resources in a set.

[0087] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may configure whether a differential measurement report is used for the current beam. In addition, the network device 120 may  configure a differential method used for the current beam, including one or many of quantization range, step size, bitwidth, and so on. For example, the configuration may indicate that differential values of the measurement results of the M second RSs are reported in addition to the P groups of first RSs. In this case, the terminal device 110 may determine a reference value, and determine the differential values based on differences between the measurement results of the M second RSs and the reference value.

[0088] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine, as the reference value, the largest measurement result in the same reporting instance. For example, reference RSRP may be the largest measured L1-RSRP value which is part of the same L1-RSRP reporting instance.

[0089] In some embodiments, if the largest measurement result is determined as the reference value, the terminal device 110 may quantize the differential values using a part (for convenience, also referred to as a first part herein) of a configured mapping between reported values and measured quantity values.

[0090] For example, an example of differential SS-RSRP and CSI-RSRP measurement report mapping is shown in Table 3. In this example, a reporting range of differential SS-RSRP and CSI-RSRP for L1 reporting and L3 reporting is defined from 0 dB to -30 dB with 2 dB resolution, and a reporting range in a signaling may be larger than a guaranteed accuracy range.

[0091] Table 3

[0092] In some embodiments, if the reference RSRP is the largest measured L1-RSRP value which is part of the same L1-RSRP reporting instance, and a configured threshold for the set of events is larger than or equal to 16dB, the reported differential value may be quantized using only a part of the Table 3. For illustration, the use for the Table 3 is shown in Table 4 below.

[0093] Table 4

[0094] As shown in column ‘Bit sequence’ in Table 4, upper part of Table 3 is not used, and only lower part of Table 3 is used in quantization. In this way, a bitwidth for a reported differential value may be reduced.

[0095] In some alternative embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine, as the reference value, the largest measurement result in the same reporting instance minus the configured threshold for the set of events. In this case, quantization range may be extended.

[0096] In some embodiments, if the largest measurement result minus the configured threshold is determined as the reference value, the terminal device 110 may quantize the differential values using another part (for convenience, also referred to as a second part herein) of the configured mapping between reported values and measured quantity values. For illustration, description is given by taking the Table 3 as an example of the configured mapping between reported values and measured quantity values.

[0097] In some embodiments, if the reference RSRP is the largest measured L1-RSRP value minus the configured threshold, and the configured threshold for the set of events is larger than or equal to 16dB, the reported differential value may be quantized using only a part of the Table 3. For illustration, the use for the Table 3 is shown in Table 5 below.

[0098] Table 5

[0099] As shown in column ‘Bit sequence’ in Table 5, lower part of Table 3 is not used, and only upper part of Table 3 is used in quantization. In this way, a bitwidth for a reported differential value may also be reduced.

[0100] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, a configuration indicating that indicators of two resources allowed to be received simultaneously are to be reported in a single reporting instance.

[0101] In some embodiments, a group based reporting may be configured to the UEI beam report (e.g., set to ‘enabled’ ) , and the number of groups may also be configured, and the UEI beam report may be configured for joint TCI state used for both UL and DL. In this case, the terminal device 110 may assume, for each group, that the number of reported beams is 2.

[0102] For example, if the terminal device 110 is configured with a higher layer parameter groupBasedBeamReporting (e.g., set to ‘enabled’ ) , the terminal device 110 may report, in a single reporting instance (e.g., nrofReportedGroups) if configured, one or more groups of two different CSI-RS resource indicators (CRIs) or SSB resource indicators (SSBRIs) selecting one CSI-RS or SSB from each of the two CRIs or SSBRIs for each report setting. CSI-RS and / or SSB resources of each group can be received simultaneously by the terminal device 110 and applied for simultaneous transmission with spatial filters by the terminal device 110, subject to capability of the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, for each group, the new beams should satisfy the set of events.

[0103] In some embodiments, if a group based reporting is configured to the UEI beam report (e.g., set to ‘enabled’ ) , and the number of groups is also configured, and the UEI beam report is configured for UL TCI state, the terminal device 110 may assume, for each group, that the number of reported beams is 2.

[0104] For example, if the terminal device 110 is configured with a higher layer parameter groupBasedBeamReporting (e.g., set to ‘enabled’ ) , the terminal device 110 may report, in a single reporting instance (e.g., nrofReportedGroups) if configured, one or more groups of two different CRIs or SSBRIs selecting one CSI-RS or SSB from each of the two CRIs or SSBRIs for each report setting. CSI-RS and / or SSB resources of each group can be applied for simultaneous transmission with spatial filters by the terminal device 110, subject to capability of the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, for each group, the new beams should satisfy the set of events.

[0105] In some embodiments, if a group based reporting is configured to the UEI beam report (e.g., set to ‘enabled’ ) , the terminal device 110 may assume that the number (i.e., P) of groups is 1 and the number of reported beams for each group is 2. In some embodiments, if the group based reporting is configured, the terminal device 110 may ignore a configuration for the second number N.

[0106] For example, for the UEI beam report, if the terminal device 110 is configured with a higher layer parameter groupBasedBeamReporting (e.g., set to ‘enabled’ ) , the terminal device 110 may report, in a single reporting instance, two different CRIs or SSBRIs for each report setting. CSI-RS and / or SSB resources associated with the two different CRIs or SSBRIs can be received simultaneously by the terminal device 110, e.g., with a single spatial domain receive filter, or with multiple simultaneous spatial domain receive filters.

[0107] In some embodiments where the group based reporting is configured, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120, information of the measurement results of the P groups of first RSs. Here, P=1. In some embodiments, a first RS with the highest measurement result in the P groups of first RSs satisfies the set of events. For example, a beam (e.g., CSI-RS and / or SSB resource) with the highest RSRP should satisfy the set of events. This implies that at least one beam should satisfy the set of events. In some alternative embodiments, a first RS with the lowest measurement result in the P groups of first RSs satisfies the set of events. For example, a beam (e.g., CSI-RS and / or SSB resource) with the lowest RSRP should satisfy the set of events. This implies that both beams should satisfy the set of events. In some alternative embodiments, an averaged value of measurement results of the P groups of first RSs satisfies the set of events.

[0108] In some embodiments, if only the beam (e.g., the CSI-RS and / or SSB resource) with the highest measurement result (e.g., highest RSRP) should satisfy the set of events, even the RRC signaling disables the reporting of the M current beams in addition to the P groups of new beams, the terminal device 110 may not set the lower measurement result (e.g., lowest RSRP) to the special status in the UEI beam report. As the two reported beams in a group may be used simultaneously, both RSRP needs to be known at NW.

[0109] Some example embodiments for configuration of a RS resource associated with the first RS and / or second RS (i.e., for current beam and / or new beam) will be described below.

[0110] In some embodiments, a RS resource for the current beam may be configured by the network device 120 by enabling one of either Scheme-1 or Scheme-2 via an explicit RRC parameter or an implicit manner. For example, if a RS for a new beam is a CSI-RS, Scheme-1 is enabled. Otherwise, Scheme-2 is enabled.

[0111] Scheme-1 may refer to a QCL RS in the M indicated TCI states. For each of the M indicated TCI states, if only one TRS is configured in the indicated TCI state, an additional scheme may be introduced. In the additional scheme, the RS for the current beam may be a CSI-RS for beam management derived from the QCL RS in the indicated TCI state. Alternatively, TRS may be further supported as a measurement RS of current beam for determining L1-RSRP. Alternatively, another additional scheme may be introduced. In this additional scheme, the RS for the current beam may be explicitly configured by a RRC signaling or a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) . Scheme-2 may refer to a SSB which is QCLed with the QCL RS in the M indicated TCI states. Enabling of either  Scheme-1 or Scheme-2 should ensure the same RS type for RS measurement for current beam and new beam.

[0112] In some embodiments, a RS resource for a new beam may be configured by the network device 120. In some embodiments, a RS resource for a new beam may be explicitly configured in M RS resource sets associated with a CSI or UEI reporting configuration. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the RS resource for the new beam based on a RS resource from each RS resource set in the M RS resource sets. In some embodiments, RSs in a RS resource set may be updated by a MAC CE.

[0113] In some embodiments, M lists of RS resources for measurements of first RSs (i.e., for new beam measurement) may be configured by a RRC signaling. In some embodiments, a subset of RS resources may be activated for new beam measurement by a MAC CE. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the RS resource for the new beam based on a RS resource from each list in the M lists of RS resources. In some embodiments, if a size of a list is small, MAC CE activation may not be needed.

[0114] In some embodiments, M lists of RS resources for measurements of first RSs (i.e., for new beam measurement) may be configured by a RRC signaling. In some embodiments, a subset of RS resources in each list may be provided for new beam measurement by an indicated TCI state associated with the same TRP. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the RS resource for the new beam based on a RS resource from a subset of each list in the M lists of RS resources.

[0115] In some embodiments, correspondence of M current beams and M new beams may be based on an ordering or a mapping position of RS IDs or RS set IDs, list IDs and TCI state IDs.

[0116] Continuing to refer to FIG. 2, if the configuration indicates that the measurement results of the M second RSs are reported, the terminal device 110 may transmit 224, to the network device 120, information (for convenience, also referred to as second information herein) indicating that a set of RS resources associated with the M second RSs is used for evaluation of the set of events. That is, if the M current beams are to be reported, the terminal device 110 may choose one or more RS resources corresponding to the M current beams for evaluation of the set of events, and report the choice to the network device 120. In this way, accurate information of current beam may be provided to NW.

[0117] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit, as the second  information, at least one of an indicator (i.e., beam indicator) or a type of a second RS in the M second RSs.

[0118] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may implicitly report the choice of the RS resource for the current beam via a reporting of a beam indicator, e.g., a SSB index or CSI-RS resource index. In some embodiments, if TRS is used as the RS resource of the current beam, the terminal device 110 may report any (e.g., the first one) of CSI-RS resource indexes in a CSI-RS resource set configured with TRS information (e.g., an information element (IE) ‘trs-info’ ) . Alternatively, the terminal device 110 may report an ID of the CSI-RS resource set.

[0119] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may explicitly report the choice of the RS resource of the current beam via, e.g., type information. With the type information, the network device 120 may infer which exact RS resource is used by the terminal device 110 as the RS resource of the current beam.

[0120] For each type of the RS resource of the current beam, the network device 120 and the terminal device 110 may be aligned. In some embodiments, a type of the RS resource of the current beam may be Type 1: QCL RS in an indicated TCI state. The Type 1 may be divided into several types. For example, Type1-1: a CSI-RS for beam management derived from the QCL RS in the indicated TCI state; Type1-2: TRS as measurement RS of current beam for determining L1-RSRP; Type1-3: the RS for current beam explicitly configured by RRC or MAC-CE. In some embodiments, the type of the RS resource of the current beam may be Type 2: SSB which is QCLed with the QCL RS in the indicated TCI state.

[0121] In some embodiments, the type information may be an index in a bitwidth ceil (log2 (number of types) ) , including all the possible types and sub-types mentioned above or other types not listed.

[0122] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may both the type information and the beam indicator by SSB index or CSI-RS resource index accordingly.

[0123] In some embodiments, the transmission of the second information may only be applied when the current beam is to be reported and the RS resource for the current beam is not configured by the network device 120. In this case, the terminal device 110 may choose the RS resource for the current beam and report the choice to the network device 120.

[0124] To ensure that the current beam is known to both a network device and a terminal device without any ambiguity, Scheme-1 and Sheme-2 are both supported, and it is expected  to determine how to select one of them. In general, a RS for the current beam may be one of QCL reference RS, or CSI-RS for beam management, SSB, or TRS, based on the QCL reference RS of the indicated TCI states. However, it may require some complex design to decide which one is used in the end. On the other hand, if NW configures the reporting of the current beam, it is possible for a terminal device to select the RS for the current beam for event evaluation and to report the choice to NW in the UEI beam report. Basically this approach lets a terminal device to decide which RS it prefers to track back in a QCL chain. In the UEI beam report, type information for the current beam may indicate that one of QCL reference RS, or the CSI-RS for beam management, SSB, or TRS associated the QCL reference RS of the indicated TCI states, is used as the RS of the current beam. Thus, it is proposed to support a terminal device to select the RS for the current beam and report the choice to NW, if the current beam is always reported. Some example embodiments will be described as below.

[0125] In some embodiments, if the current beam is to be reported, and the RS resource for the current beam is configured by the network device 120, the terminal device 110 may not provide the beam indicator in the UEI beam report. In some embodiments, regardless of the current beam is to be reported or not, the terminal device 110 may provide the second information in a UL signaling other than the UEI beam report, such as a RRC signaling, UL MAC CE, or UCI.

[0126] In some embodiments, the first information or the second information may be transmitted via the UEI beam report. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120 via a first UL channel, an indication that the first or second information is to be transmitted via a second UL channel. Then the terminal device 110 may transmit the first or second information to the network device 120 via the second UL channel.

[0127] In some embodiments, mode A may be adopted for the UEI beam report. Mode A refers to dynamically scheduling UCI by the network device 120. In step 1 of mode A, the terminal device 110 may transmit a first PUCCH (one-bit / multi-bit) to request a resource for a second UL channel to carry a beam report (i.e., the UEI beam report) . A format of the request may be e.g., SR or a new UCI type. In step 2 of mode A, the terminal device 110 may detect a downlink control information (DCI) format to indicate a resource for a second UL channel to carry the beam report. In step 3 of mode A, the terminal device 110 may transmit the beam report in the second UL channel. For example, the second UL channel  may be PUCCH, PUSCH or both. The mode A is basic UE capability (i.e. all UE supporting UE-initiated / event-driven beam reporting should support this feature) .

[0128] In some embodiments, mode B may be adopted for the UEI beam report. Mode B refers to UCI in one or more pre-configured resources for a second UL channel. In step 1 of mode B, the terminal device 110 may transmit a first PUCCH (one-bit / multi-bit) notifying a second UL channel to carry a beam report (i.e., the UEI beam report) . A format of the notifying may be e.g., SR or a new UCI type. In step 2 of mode B, the terminal device 110 may transmit the beam report in the second UL channel. For example, the second UL channel may be PUCCH, PUSCH or both. The notification in step 1 of mode B is in a separate reporting instance from the beam report in step 2 of mode B.

[0129] For illustration, examples of the UEI beam report may be described in Table 6 below.

[0133] For illustration, an example format of the UEI beam report may be described in Table 8 below.

[0134] Table 8

[0135] Next, some example embodiments will be described for the set of events. It is to be noted that the set of events may be implemented as one or more events associated with a current beam and / or a new beam. The one or more events may be any events or event combinations existing or to be developed in future. The above solution of the present disclosure as described in FIG. 2 may be applied or extended to any suitable event. For illustration, some example embodiments will be described below.

[0136] In some embodiments, an event in the set of events may comprise Event-2: quality of at least one new beam becomes better than the current beam by a threshold. In some embodiments for mTRP, Event-2 may be extended as: quality of at least the M new beams becomes better than the M current beams by a threshold (also referred to as a first threshold herein) .

[0137] In some embodiments, an event in the set of events may comprise Event-1: quality of the current beam is worse than a threshold.

[0138] In some embodiments for Event-1, a RRC signaling may enable or disable whether the current beam is always reported. Alternatively, the current beam is always reported. Alternatively, the current beam is always not reported.

[0139] In some embodiments for Event-1, if the current beam is to be reported, the terminal device 110 may choose the RS resource for the current beam for evaluation of an event and report the choice of the RS resource for the current beam to the network device 120.

[0140] In some embodiments for Event-1, if the current beam is not to be reported, 2 UL channels is not needed for the UEI beam report, and two modes (mode A or mode B) is not needed for the UEI beam report. For example, the terminal device 110 may transmit a first PUCCH (one-bit / multi-bit) to notify the Event-1 occurs. A request format may be a scheduling request (SR) or a new UCI type, by a periodic PUCCH resource (with PUCCH format 0 / 1) configured by RRC. In addition, the terminal device 110 may expect that the network device 120 responds this notification by updating the current beam, or by configured a RS to find a better beam.

[0141] In some embodiments, regarding the triggering event determination for the Event-1, once the current beam is worse than a certain threshold, the terminal device 110 may initiate the UEI beam report. In some embodiments, if within a time window (which is configurable) , the number or the consecutive number of event instances (i.e., measurement instances) for a same current beam is greater than or equal to a configurable number M, the terminal device 110 may initiate the UEI beam report. It is to be noted that the event instance may be determined if quality of the current beam is worse than a certain threshold. Alternatively, one or more event instances may be determined for any current beam, which implies that the current beam may be changed for this event.

[0142] In some embodiments, Event-1 may be extended to mTRP. For example, quality of the M current beam is worse than a certain threshold. Each or either of M current beam is worse than the certain threshold.

[0143] In some embodiments, an event in the set of events may comprise Event-3. Event-3 may be extended to mTRP. For example, difference among qualities of the M current beam is larger than a certain threshold. The larger the difference is, the more unsuitable the M current beams are used together for mTRP transmission.

[0144] In some embodiments, an event in the set of events may comprise Event-4a: quality of at least one new beam becomes better than the M second RSs by a threshold (for convenience, also referred to as a second threshold herein) . In some embodiments for Event-4a, the terminal device 110 may receive or transmit with the M current beams simultaneously. In some embodiments for Event-4a, the new beam may be better than all the M current beams by the threshold. In some embodiments for Event-4a, the quality may be other metrics, e.g., the rank, the maximum capacity, etc. In some embodiments, Event-4a may support a UEI dynamic switching from mTRP transmission to sTRP transmission.

[0145] In some embodiments, an event in the set of events may comprise Event-4b: quality of at least M new beams becomes better than 1 current beam by a threshold (for convenience, also referred to as a third threshold herein) . In some embodiments for Event-4b, the terminal device 110 may receive or transmit with the M current beams simultaneously. In some embodiments for Event-4b, each or either of the M new beams may be better than the 1 current beam by the threshold. In some embodiments for Event-4b, the quality may be other metrics, e.g., the rank, the maximum capacity, etc. In some embodiments, Event-4b may support a UEI dynamic switching from sTRP transmission to mTRP transmission.

[0146] In some embodiments, an event in the set of events may comprise Event-7a: quality of at least one new beam becomes better than quality of a RS derived from an activated TCI state with the worst quality by a threshold (for convenience, also referred to as a fourth threshold herein) . In some embodiments for mTRP, the Event-7a may be extended as: quality of at least M new beams becomes better than quality of a RS derived from an activated TCI state with the worst quality by the threshold.

[0147] In some embodiments for Event-7a, N ≥ 1 beam (s) are reported in the report instance. In some embodiments, N is configured by the network device 120. Alternatively, N is reported by the terminal device 110.

[0148] In some embodiments for Event-7a, at least one of N reported beam (s) should satisfy the condition of Event-7a. Alternatively, N ≥ 1 beam (s) should satisfy the condition of Event-7a.

[0149] In some embodiments for Event-7a, a RRC signaling may enable or disable whether the activated TCI state with the worst quality is always reported in addition to N new beams. It is to be noted that ‘activated TCI state’ may refer to ‘RS derived from the activated TCI state’ . In some embodiments, if the activated TCI state with the worst quality is not to be reported, and N > 1, and at least one of N reported beams does not satisfy the Event-7a, the terminal device 110 may report information that at last one of N reported beams not satisfy the Event-7a. In some embodiments, the information may be a special status in the reported measurement result (e.g., reported RSRP) . In some embodiments, if the activated TCI state with the worst quality is to be reported, the terminal device 110 may choose the RS derived from the activated TCI state with the worst quality for event evaluation report the choice to the network device 120.

[0150] In some embodiments for Event-7a, a RRC signaling may enable or disable whether  other activated TCI states is additionally reported. For example, the other activated TCI states may include the activated TCI states with the highest quality, activated TCI state for the current beam, etc.

[0151] In some embodiments for Event-7a, a RRC signaling may enable or disable whether the activated TCI state with the worst quality is additionally reported. In some embodiments, the current beam may be different from the activated TCI states, or one of activated TCI states.

[0152] In some embodiments for Event-7a, once the at least one new beam is a threshold value better than the RS derived from the activated TCI state with the worst quality, the terminal device 110 may initiate the UEI beam report. In some embodiments, if within a time window (which is configurable) , the number or the consecutive number of event instances for at least one same new beam is greater than or equal to a configurable number M, the terminal device 110 may initiate the UEI beam report. It is to be noted that the event instance for a new beam is determined if the L1-RSRP of the new beam becomes a threshold value better than any activated TCI state with the worst quality. This implies that the activated TCI state with the worst quality may be changed for different event instances.

[0153] In some embodiments, an event in the set of events may comprise Event-7b: quality of at least one new beam becomes better than quality of a RS derived from an activated TCI state with the best quality by a threshold (for convenience, also referred to as a fifth threshold herein) . In some embodiments for mTRP, the Event-7b may be extended as: quality of at least M new beams becomes better than quality of a RS derived from an activated TCI state with the best quality by the threshold.

[0154] In some embodiments for Event-7b, N ≥ 1 beam (s) are reported in the report instance. In some embodiments, N is configured by the network device 120. Alternatively, N is reported by the terminal device 110.

[0155] In some embodiments for Event-7b, at least one of N reported beam (s) should satisfy the condition of Event-7b. Alternatively, N ≥ 1 beam (s) should satisfy the condition of Event-7b.

[0156] In some embodiments for Event-7b, a RRC signaling may enable or disable whether the activated TCI state with the worst quality is always reported in addition to N new beams. It is to be noted that ‘activated TCI state’ may refer to ‘RS derived from the activated TCI state’ . In some embodiments, if the activated TCI state with the best quality is not to be  reported, and N > 1, and at least one of N reported beams does not satisfy the Event-7b, the terminal device 110 may report information that at last one of N reported beams not satisfy the Event-7b. In some embodiments, the information may be a special status in the reported measurement result (e.g., reported RSRP) . In some embodiments, if the activated TCI state with the best quality is to be reported, the terminal device 110 may choose the RS derived from the activated TCI state with the best quality for event evaluation report the choice to the network device 120.

[0157] In some embodiments for Event-7b, a RRC signaling may enable or disable whether other activated TCI states is additionally reported. For example, the other activated TCI states may include the activated TCI states with the worst quality, activated TCI state for the current beam, etc.

[0158] In some embodiments for Event-7b, a RRC signaling may enable or disable whether the activated TCI state with the best quality is additionally reported. In some embodiments, the current beam may be different from the activated TCI states, or one of activated TCI states.

[0159] In some embodiments for Event-7b, once the at least one new beam is a threshold value better than the RS derived from the activated TCI state with the best quality, the terminal device 110 may initiate the UEI beam report. In some embodiments, if within a time window (which is configurable) , the number or the consecutive number of event instances for at least one same new beam is greater than or equal to a configurable number M, the terminal device 110 may initiate the UEI beam report. It is to be noted that the event instance for a new beam is determined if the L1-RSRP of the new beam becomes a threshold value better than any activated TCI state with the best quality. This implies that the activated TCI state with the best quality may be changed for different event instances.

[0160] In some embodiments, the set of events may comprise an event associated with the M second RSs and the P groups of first RSs. For example, in mTRP scenarios, a single event may be designed by considering more than one TRPs jointly. For illustration, the following description is given in connection with Event-2. It is to be understood that the joint design for TRPs may also be applied to any other events.

[0161] As mentioned above, for mTRP, Event-2 may be extended as: quality of at least the M new beams becomes better than the M current beams by a threshold (i.e., the first threshold) . In some examples, M = 2, if the number of TRPs is 2. M new beams and M current beams are used together. The terminal device 110 may receive or transmit with M  new beams or M current beams simultaneously.

[0162] In some embodiments, each of the M new beams may be better than all the M current beams by a threshold. For example, a first new beam is better than a first current beam by the threshold, and the first new beam is better than a second current beam by the threshold; and a second new beam is better than the first current beam by the threshold, and the second new beam is better than the second current beam by the threshold. Alternatively, min {the first new beam, the second new beam} is better than max {the first current beam, the second current beam} by the threshold.

[0163] In some embodiments, either of the M new beams is better than all the M current beams by a threshold. For example, a first new beam is better than a first current beam by the threshold, and the first new beam is better than a second current beam by the threshold; or a second new beam is better than the first current beam by the threshold, and the second new beam is better than the second current beam by the threshold. Alternatively, max {the first new beam, the second new beam} is better than max {the first current beam, the second current beam} by the threshold.

[0164] In some embodiments, each of the M new beams is better than at least one of the M current beams by a threshold. For example, a first new beam is better than a first current beam by the threshold, or the first new beam is better than a second current beam by the threshold; or a second new beam is better than the first current beam by the threshold, and the second new beam is better than the second current beam by the threshold. Alternatively, min {the first new beam, the second new beam} is better than min {the first current beam, the second current beam} by the threshold.

[0165] In some embodiments, either of the M new beams is better than at least one of the M current beams by a threshold. For example, a first new beam is better than a first current beam by the threshold, or the first new beam is better than a second current beam by the threshold; or a second new beam is better than the first current beam by the threshold, and the second new beam is better than the second current beam by the threshold. Alternatively, max {the first new beam, the second new beam} is better than min {the first current beam, the second current beam} by the threshold.

[0166] In some embodiments, each of the M new beams is better than each corresponding beam in the M current beams by a threshold. For example, a first new beam is better than a first current beam by the threshold, and a second new beam is better than a second current  beam by the threshold. Alternatively, the first new beam is better than the first current beam by the threshold, or the second new beam is better than the second current beam by the threshold.

[0167] In some alternative embodiments, the set of events may comprise M events, and an event in the M events is associated with a current beam and at least one new beam. For example, in mTRP scenarios, multiple events may be designed by considering more than one TRPs separately. For illustration, the following description is given in connection with Event-2. It is to be understood that the separate design for TRPs may also be applied to any other events.

[0168] It is assumed that M > 1. The combination of M events may be used for the UEI beam report. Each of the M events may be used for a corresponding TRP. For example, the number of TRPs is 2, and a combination of M Event-2 is applied.

[0169] In this case, 2 events are as follows: quality (such as L1-RSRP) of at least a first new beam becomes better than the first current beam by a threshold; and quality (such as L1-RSRP) of at least a second new beam becomes better than the second current beam by a threshold.

[0170] Alternatively, 2 events are as follows: quality (such as L1-RSRP) of at least a first new beam becomes better than the first current beam by a threshold; or quality (such as L1-RSRP) of at least a second new beam becomes better than the second current beam by a threshold. In some embodiments, the threshold may be different for different TRPs.

[0171] So far, the solution of UEI beam report is described in connection with the process 200. It is to be understood that operations in the process 200 may be carried out separately or in any suitable combinations.

[0172] EXAMPLE IMPLEMENTATION OF METHODS

[0173] Corresponding to the above process, embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods of communication implemented at a terminal device and a network device. These methods will be described below with reference to FIGs. 3 and 4.

[0174] FIG. 3 illustrates a flowchart of a method 300 of communication implemented at a terminal device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For example, the method 300 may be performed at the terminal device 110 as shown in FIG. 1. For the purpose of discussion, in the following, the method 300 will be described with  reference to FIG. 1. It is to be understood that the method 300 may include additional blocks not shown and / or may omit some blocks as shown, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0175] At block 310, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, a configuration indicating that measurement results of a first number of groups of first RSs are to be reported upon a set of events is fulfilled. A group in the first number of groups comprises a second number of first RSs.

[0176] At block 320, the terminal device 110 may perform an operation based on the configuration. The operation may comprise at least one of the following: in accordance with a determination that the configuration indicates that measurement results of a third number of second RSs are not reported in addition to the first number of groups of first RSs, transmitting, to the network device 120, first information indicating that at least one RS in the first number of groups of first RSs does not satisfy the set of events; or in accordance with a determination that the configuration indicates that the measurement results of the third number of second RSs are reported in addition to the first number of groups of first RSs, transmitting, to the network device 120, second information indicating that a set of RS resources associated with the third number of second RSs is used for evaluation of the set of events.

[0177] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit the first information by:setting a reported value of a measurement result of the at least one RS to be a first value; setting a reported value of an indicator of the at least one RS to be a second value; or setting both the reported value of the measurement result of the at least one RS and the reported value of the indicator of the at least one RS to be a third value.

[0178] In some embodiments, the reported value of the measurement result of the at least one RS is a differential value, and the first value is a bit sequence 1111 or 0000. In some embodiments, the reported value of the measurement result of the at least one RS is an absolute value, and the first value is a bit sequence 11111111 or 00000000.

[0179] In some embodiments, the second value is all 0 or all 1, and the third value is all 0 or all 1.

[0180] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine a reported value of a measurement result of a first RS in the first number of groups of first RSs or a measurement result of a second RS in the third number of second RSs based on one of the following: a  latest measurement instance; a latest measurement instance among a fourth number of measurement instances configured for the set of events; or the fourth number of latest measurement instances.

[0181] In some embodiments, the reported value may be a differential value between the measurement results of the first RS and the second RS at the fourth number of latest measurement instances. In these embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the differential value by: determining a difference value between the measurement results of the first RS and the second RS at each of the fourth number of latest measurement instances; and determining the differential value by processing difference values for the fourth number of latest measurement instances.

[0182] In some embodiments, the reported value may be a differential value between the measurement results of the first RS and the second RS at the fourth number of latest measurement instances. In these embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the differential value by: determining a processed measurement result of the first RS by processing the measurement results of the first RS at the fourth number of latest measurement instances; determining a processed measurement result of the second RS by processing the measurement results of the second RS at the fourth number of latest measurement instances; and determining the differential value based on the processed measurement result of the first RS and the processed measurement result of the second RS.

[0183] In some embodiments, in accordance with a determination that the configuration indicates that differential values of the measurement results of the third number of second RSs are reported in addition to the first number of groups of first RSs, the terminal device 110 may determine a reference value, and determine the differential values based on differences between the measurement results of the third number of second RSs and the reference value.

[0184] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine the reference value by: determining, as the reference value, a largest measurement result in a same reporting instance; or determining, as the reference value, a largest measurement result in a same reporting instance minus a configured threshold for the set of events.

[0185] In some embodiments, in accordance with a determination that the largest measurement result is determined as the reference value, the terminal device 110 may quantize the differential values using a first part of a configured mapping between reported  values and measured quantity values. In some embodiments, in accordance with a determination that the largest measurement result minus the configured threshold is determined as the reference value, the terminal device 110 may quantize the differential values using a second part of the configured mapping between reported values and measured quantity value.

[0186] In some embodiments, in accordance with a determination that the configuration indicates that the measurement results of the third number of second RSs are reported in addition to the first number of groups of first RSs, and the set of RS resources associated with the third number of second RSs are configured, the terminal device 110 may transmit information of the measurement results of the third number of second RSs that does not comprise an indicator of a second RS in the third number of second RSs.

[0187] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, a configuration indicating that indicators of two resources that are allowed to be received simultaneously are to be reported in a single reporting instance; and transmit, to the network device, information of the measurement results of the first number of groups of first RSs, wherein a first RS with a highest measurement result in the first number of groups of first RSs satisfies the set of events, or a first RS with a lowest measurement result in the first number of groups of first RSs satisfies the set of events.

[0188] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit the second information by: transmitting at least one of an indicator or a type of a second RS in the third number of second RSs.

[0189] In some embodiments, the type of the second RS may indicate one of the following: a QCL RS in an indicated TCI state; a CSI-RS for beam management derived from the QCL RS in the indicated TCI state; a TRS as a measurement RS resource for determining a measurement result of the second RS; a configured RS resource associated with the second RS; or a SSB which is quasi-colocated with the QCL RS in the indicated TCI state.

[0190] In some embodiments, the set of events may comprise an event associated with the third number of second RSs and the first number of groups of first RSs. In some embodiments, the set of events may comprise third number of events, and an event in the third number of events is associated with a second RS and at least a first RS.

[0191] In some embodiments, an event in the set of events may comprise at least one of the following: quality of at least the third number of first RSs becomes better than the third  number of second RSs by a first threshold; quality of at least one first RS becomes better than the third number of second RSs by a second threshold; quality of at least the third number of first RSs becomes better than a second RS by a second threshold; quality of at least the third number of first RSs becomes better than quality of a RS derived from an activated TCI state with the worst quality by a third threshold; or quality of at least the third number of first RSs becomes better than quality of a RS derived from an activated TCI state with the best quality by a fourth threshold.

[0192] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine a RS resource associated with a first RS based on one of the following: a RS resource from each RS resource set in the third number of RS resource sets; a RS resource from each list in the third number of lists of RS resources for measurements of first RSs; or a RS resource from a subset of each list in the third number of lists of RS resources for measurements of first RSs.

[0193] In some embodiments, the subset may be activated by a MAC CE. In some embodiments, the subset may be determined by an indicated TCI state associated with a same TRP.

[0194] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit the first or second information by: transmitting, via a first uplink channel, an indication that the first or second information is to be transmitted via a second uplink channel; and transmitting the first or second information via the second uplink channel.

[0195] With the method 300, information that not all the reported beams can satisfy the set of events and / or information of a RS for a current beam may be reported to NW, and NW scheduling may be optimized.

[0196] FIG. 4 illustrates a flowchart of a method 400 of communication implemented at a network device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For example, the method 400 may be performed at the network device 120 as shown in FIG. 1. For the purpose of discussion, in the following, the method 400 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. It is to be understood that the method 400 may include additional blocks not shown and / or may omit some blocks as shown, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0197] At block 410, the network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, a configuration indicating that measurement results of a first number of groups of first RSs are to be reported upon a set of events is fulfilled. A group in the first number of groups  comprises a second number of first RSs.

[0198] At block 410, the network device 120 may perform an operation based on the configuration. The operation may comprise at least one of the following: in accordance with a determination that the configuration indicates that measurement results of a third number of second RSs are not reported in addition to the first number of groups of first RSs, receiving, from the terminal device 110, first information indicating that at least one RS in the first number of groups of first RSs does not satisfy the set of events; or in accordance with a determination that the configuration indicates that the measurement results of the third number of second RSs are reported in addition to the first number of groups of first RSs, receiving, from the terminal device 110, second information indicating that a set of RS resources associated with the third number of second RSs is used for evaluation of the set of events.

[0199] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may receive the first information by: receiving a reported value of a measurement result of the at least one RS that is set to be a first value; receiving a reported value of an indicator of the at least one RS that is set to be a second value; or receiving both the reported value of the measurement result of the at least one RS and the reported value of the indicator of the at least one RS that are set to be a third value.

[0200] In some embodiments, the reported value of the measurement result of the at least one RS may be a differential value, and the first value may be a bit sequence 1111 or 0000. In some embodiments, the reported value of the measurement result of the at least one RS may be an absolute value, and the first value may be a bit sequence 11111111 or 00000000.

[0205] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, a configuration indicating that indicators of two resources that are allowed to be received simultaneously are to be reported in a single reporting instance; and receive, from the terminal device 110, information of the measurement results of the first number of groups of first RSs, wherein a first RS with a highest measurement result in the first number of groups of first RSs satisfies the set of events, or a first RS with a lowest measurement result in the first number of groups of first RSs satisfies the set of events.

[0206] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may receive the second information by: receiving at least one of an indicator or a type of a second RS in the third number of second RSs.

[0207] In some embodiments, the type of the second RS may indicate one of the following: a QCL RS in an indicated TCI state; a CSI-RS for beam management derived from the QCL RS in the indicated TCI state; a TRS as a measurement RS resource for determining a measurement result of the second RS; a configured RS resource associated with the second RS; or a SSB which is quasi-colocated with the QCL RS in the indicated TCI state.

[0208] In some embodiments, the set of events may comprise an event associated with the third number of second RSs and the first number of groups of first RSs. In some embodiments, the set of events may comprise third number of events, and an event in the third number of events is associated with a second RS and at least a first RS.

[0209] In some embodiments, an event in the set of events may comprise at least one of the following: quality of at least the third number of first RSs becomes better than the third number of second RSs by a first threshold; quality of at least one first RS becomes better than the third number of second RSs by a second threshold; quality of at least the third number of first RSs becomes better than a second RS by a third threshold; quality of at least the third number of first RSs becomes better than quality of a RS derived from an activated TCI state with the worst quality by a fourth threshold; or quality of at least the third number of first  RSs becomes better than quality of a RS derived from an activated TCI state with the best quality by a fifth threshold.

[0210] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may receive the first or second information by: receiving, via a first uplink channel, an indication that the first or second information is to be transmitted via a second uplink channel; and receiving the first or second information via the second uplink channel.

[0211] With the method 400, information that not all the reported beams can satisfy the set of events and / or information of a RS for a current beam may be obtained from a terminal device, and optimization of NW scheduling may be facilitated.
