Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to method and apparatus for secondary cell dormancy indication. According to some embodiments of the disclosure, a UE may: receive, from a BS, signaling indicating a set of cells; receive a DCI from the BS; determine that a set of fields in the DCI corresponding to a first cell of the set of cells is interpreted as indicating SCell dormancy for each SCell of the UE, wherein the first cell has a smallest serving cell index among cells indicated with an invalid FDRAvalue in the DCI; and switch, for an SCell of the UE, to a dormant BWP or an active BWP based on a corresponding bit of the set of fields.

[0042] The detailed description of the appended drawings is intended as a description of the preferred embodiments of the present disclosure and is not intended to represent the only form in which the present disclosure may be practiced. It should be understood that the same or equivalent functions may be accomplished by different embodiments that are intended to be encompassed within the spirit and scope of the present disclosure.

[0043] Reference will now be made in detail to some embodiments of the present disclosure, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. To facilitate understanding, embodiments are provided under a specific network architecture (s) and new service scenarios, such as the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) 5G NR or 6G, 3GPP LTE, and so on. It is contemplated that along with the developments of network architectures and new service scenarios, all embodiments in the present disclosure are also applicable to similar technical problems; and moreover, the terminologies recited in the present disclosure may change, which should not affect the principles of the present disclosure.

[0044] A UE in a wireless communication system can be configured with one or more SCells. However, at least one of the one or more SCells may not always be used for data transmission. It is desired to switch between a non-dormant BWP and a dormant BWP for an SCell to save power. To solve the above issue, SCell dormancy indication for multiple SCells of a UE may be supported in a DCI.

[0045] On the other hand, a wireless communication system may support multi-cell multi-channel scheduling with a single DCI. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions for supporting SCell dormancy indication in such a DCI.

[0046] FIG. 1 illustrates a schematic diagram of wireless communication system 100 in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0047] The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more NEs 102 (e.g., one or more BSs) , one or more UEs 104, and a core network (CN) 106. The wireless communication system 100 may support various radio access technologies. In some implementations, the wireless communication system 100 may be a 4G network, such as an LTE network or an LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network. In some other implementations, the wireless communication system 100 may be an NR network, such as a 5G network, a 5G-Advanced (5G-A) network, or a 5G ultra-wideband (5G-UWB) network. In other implementations, the wireless communication system 100 may be a combination of a 4G network and a 5G network, or other suitable radio access technology including Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 (Wi-Fi) , IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) , and IEEE 802.20. The wireless communication system 100 may support radio access technologies beyond 5G, for example, 6G. Additionally, the wireless communication system 100 may support technologies, such as time division multiple access (TDMA) , frequency division multiple access (FDMA) , or code division multiple access (CDMA) , etc.

[0048] The one or more NEs 102 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region to form the wireless communication system 100. One or more of the NEs 102 described herein may be or include or may be referred to as a network node, a base station, a network element, a network function, a network entity, a radio access network (RAN) , a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB) , a next-generation NodeB (gNB) , or other suitable terminology. An NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate via a communication link, which may be a wireless or wired connection. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may perform wireless communication (e.g., receive signaling, transmit signaling) over a Uu interface.

[0049] An NE 102 may provide a geographic coverage area for which the NE 102 may support services for one or more UEs 104 within the geographic coverage area. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may support wireless communication of signals related to services (e.g., voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. ) according to one or multiple radio access technologies. In some implementations, an NE 102 may be moveable, for example, a satellite associated with a non-terrestrial network (NTN) . In some implementations, different geographic coverage areas 112 associated with the same or different radio access technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas may be associated with a different NE 102.

[0050] The one or more UEs 104 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region of the wireless communication system 100. A UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a subscriber device, a transmitter device, a receiver device, or some other suitable terminology. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE 104 may be referred to as an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device, an Internet-of-Everything (IoE) device, or machine-type communication (MTC) device, among other examples.

[0051] A UE 104 may be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular-V2X deployments, the communication link 114 may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.

[0052] An NE 102 may support communication with the CN 106, or with another NE 102, or both. For example, an NE 102 may interface with another NE 102 or the CN 106 through one or more backhaul links (e.g., S1, N2, N3 or another network interface) . In some implementations, the NE 102 may communicate with each other directly. In some other implementations, the NE 102 may communicate with each other or indirectly (e.g., via the CN 106) . In some implementations, one or more NEs 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC) . An ANC may communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs) .

[0053] The CN 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The CN 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) , or a 5G core (5GC) , which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME) , an access and mobility management functions (AMF) ) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW) , a Packet Data Network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , or a user plane function (UPF) ) . In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc. ) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more NEs 102 associated with the CN 106.

[0054] The CN 106 may communicate with a packet data network over one or more backhaul links (e.g., via an S1, N2, N3, or another network interface) . The packet data network may include an application server. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the CN 106 via an NE 102. The CN 106 may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session) . The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the CN 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the CN 106) .

[0055] In the wireless communication system 100, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communication system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) ) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communication) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (i.e., multiple frame structures) . The NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.

[0056] In some embodiments, the NEs 102 may include one or more relay nodes, integrated access and backhaul (IAB) nodes or wireless access backhaul (WAB) nodes which can provide wireless access services for UEs 104. A relay node (or an IAB node or a WAB node) can directly connect to a BS or hop through one or more relay nodes (or one or more IAB or WAB nodes) before reaching the BS.

[0057] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communication system 100, and a numerology may include subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., μ =1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., μ=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., μ=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A sixth numerology (e.g., μ =5) may be associated with a sixth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 480 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A seventh numerology (e.g., μ=6) may be associated with a seventh subcarrier spacing (e.g., 960 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. For ambient IoT communication, additional numerologies (e.g., μ=-1 or μ =-2) may be introduced corresponding to 7.5 kHz or 3.75 kHz, respectively.

[0058] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames) . Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.

[0059] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communication system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (i.e., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols) . In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing) , a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.

[0060] In the wireless communication system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communication system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz –7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz –52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz –24.25 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz –114.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz –71 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz –300 GHz) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communication over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communication traffic (e.g., control information, data) . In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.

[0061] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies) . For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., μ =0) , which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., μ =1) , which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least two numerologies) . For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) , which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.

[0062] A UE 104 may include computing devices, such as desktop computers, laptop computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs) , tablet computers, smart televisions (e.g., televisions connected to the Internet) , set-top boxes, game consoles, security systems (including security cameras) , vehicle on-board computers, network devices (e.g., routers, switches, and modems) , or the like. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, a UE 104 may include a portable wireless communication device, a smart phone, a cellular telephone, a flip phone, a device having a subscriber identity module, a personal computer, a selective call receiver, or any other device that is capable of sending and receiving communication signals on a wireless network. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, a UE 104 includes wearable devices, such as smart watches, fitness bands, optical head-mounted displays, or the like. Moreover, a UE 104 may be referred to as a subscriber unit, a mobile, a mobile station, a user, a terminal, a mobile terminal, a wireless terminal, a fixed terminal, a subscriber station, a user terminal, or a device, or described using other terminology used in the art. A UE 104 may communicate with an NE 102 (e.g., a BS) via uplink (UL) communication signals. An NE 102 may communicate with a UE 104 via downlink (DL) communication signals.

[0063] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate over licensed spectrums, whereas in some other embodiments, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate over unlicensed spectrums. The present disclosure is not intended to be limited to the implementation of any particular wireless communication system architecture or protocol. Persons skilled in the art should understand that as technology develops and advances, the terminologies described in the present disclosure may change, but should not affect or limit the principles and spirit of the present disclosure.

[0064] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the wireless communication system 100 may be designed to support CA. For example, to reduce control overhead in the case of CA, multi-cell multi-channel scheduling with a single DCI format is supported. In the context of the present disclosure, a DCI that can schedule one or more cells with one or more data channels on each of the one or more cells is referred to as multi-cell multi-channel scheduling DCI. It should be noted that such a DCI may schedule no data channel or may schedule a single data channel on at least one of the one or more scheduled cells.

[0065] For example, a BS may configure a set of cells (e.g., by "scheduledCellListDCI-1-3" as specified in 3GPP specifications) which can be used for multi-cell scheduling or multi-cell multi-channel scheduling for a UE. For example, DCI format 1_3 can schedule one or more cells within the set of cells with one or more physical downlink shared channels (PDSCHs) on each of the one or more cells. For example, DCI format 0_3 can schedule one or more cells within the set of cells with one or more physical uplink shared channels (PUSCHs) on each of the one or more cells. For example, DCI format 1_3 may support scheduling up to 4 cells with a maximum of 8 PDSCHs on a scheduled cell. For example, DCI format 0_3 may support scheduling up to 4 cells with a maximum of 8 PUSCHs on a scheduled cell.

[0066] A UE in a wireless communication system can be configured with one or more SCells. However, at least one of the one or more SCells may not always be used for data transmission. It is desired to switch between a non-dormant BWP and a dormant BWP for an SCell in order to save power. Solutions for SCell dormancy indication for SCells of a UE is thus required. More details on the embodiments of the present disclosure will be illustrated in the following text in combination with the appended drawings.

[0067] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, a multi-cell multi-channel scheduling DCI can indicate SCell dormancy for the SCells of a UE. In some embodiments, a set of fields in a multi-cell multi-channel scheduling DCI may be interpreted as (e.g., repurposed for) indicating SCell dormancy for each SCell of the UE. In some embodiments, the CRC of the DCI may be scrambled by a C-RNTI or an MCS-C-RNTI of the UE. One problem is how to determine the set of fields in the DCI that is interpreted as SCell dormancy indication.

[0068] In some embodiments, when a multi-cell multi-channel scheduling DCI intends to indicate SCell dormancy for a UE, one or more cells within the configured set of cells may be indicated with an invalid FDRA value by the DCI. In some examples, the DCI may be transmitted to the UE on the primary cell of the UE. In some embodiments, a set of fields in the DCI for a cell (denoted as cell #A) with the smallest serving cell index among one or more cells indicated with invalid FDRA values in the DCI are interpreted as indicating dormancy for an SCell of the UE. In some embodiments, an invalid FDRA value may mean that all bits of a corresponding block of the FDRA field (i.e., the block in the FDRA field corresponding to cell #A) in the DCI are set to '0' for resource allocation type 0, or set to '1' for resource allocation type 1, or set to '0' or '1' for dynamic switch resource allocation type.

[0069] In some embodiments, the set of fields may include one or more of the MCS field, NDI field, RV field, HARQ process number field, antenna port (s) field and DMRS sequence initialization field. In an example (hereinafter, Example #1) , the following fields corresponding to cell #A may be used for SCell dormancy indication, where each bit corresponds to one of the configured SCell (s) for the UE, with the most significant bit (MSB) to least significant bit (LSB) of the following fields concatenated in an order below corresponding to the SCells with lowest to highest SCell index: ● MCS ● NDI ● RV ● HARQ process number ● Antenna port (s) if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type  (e.g., "antennaPortsDCI1-3= type2" as specified in 3GPP specifications is configured by a high layer parameter. )

[0070] Based on a corresponding bit of the set of fields in the DCI, the UE may switch to a dormant BWP or an active BWP for an SCell of the UE.

[0071] In some embodiments, each of the NDI field and RV field in a multi-cell multi-channel scheduling DCI may include Ncell blocks. In some examples, the value of Ncell may be based on the number of scheduled cells as indicated by the DCI. For example, the DCI may include a scheduled cell indicator indicating the number of scheduled cells, i.e., the value of Ncell. For example, the scheduled cell indicator may indicate an entry of a list of scheduled cell combinations (e.g., "scheduledCellComboListDCI-1-3" as specified in 3GPP specifications) . Ncell is equal to the number of cells in the scheduled cell combination corresponding to the indicated entry. In some examples, the list of scheduled cell combinations may include only one entry, and then Ncell is equal to the number of cells in the only one entry. In some examples, the value of Ncell may be based on the number of cells in the configured set of cells (e.g., "scheduledCellListDCI-1-3" as specified in 3GPP specifications) .

[0072] Each block of the NDI field or the RV field corresponds to the NDIs or RVs for a corresponding cell of the Ncell cells. The NDI field corresponding to a cell may refer to the block corresponding to the cell in the NDI field of the DCI. The RV field corresponding to a cell may refer to the block corresponding to the cell in the RV field of the DCI.

[0073] In some embodiments, the number of bits or NDIs in each NDI block or the number of bits or RVs in each RV block may be based on a TDRA table for the cell corresponding to the block. The TDRA table may be applicable for multi-PDSCH scheduling by a DCI. For example, for each block of an NDI field, the number of bits may be based on (e.g., equal to) the maximum number of schedulable data channels on the corresponding cell by the DCI. For example, the maximum number of schedulable PDSCHs on a cell may be determined by the TDRA table for the cell, for example, the maximum number of start and length indicator values (SLIVs) for PDSCHs among all the rows of the TDRA table for the cell. In some embodiments, one NDI may include 1 bit. Assuming that a maximum of 8 PDSCHs can be scheduled for a cell by a DCI, a block of the NDI field for the cell may include a maximum of 8 bits.

[0074] For example, for each block of an RV field, the number of bits may be based on the maximum number of schedulable data channels on the corresponding cell by the DCI and the number of bits for RV configured for the corresponding cell. For example, the maximum number of schedulable PDSCHs on a cell may be determined by the TDRA table for the cell. In some embodiments, the number of bits of an RV may be configured by a high layer parameter (e.g., by RRC signaling) . For example, the number of bits of an RV corresponding to a cell may include 0, 1 or 2 bits determined by the parameter "numberOfBitsForRV-DCI-1-3" as specified in 3GPP specifications configured for the cell. Assuming that a maximum of 8 PDSCHs can be scheduled for a cell by the DCI and a maximum of 2 bits can be configured for the RV for a cell, a block of the RV field for a cell may include a maximum of 8ⅹ2=16 bits.

[0075] Therefore, the NDI block corresponding to cell #A may include up to 8 bits and the RV block corresponding to cell #A may include up to 16 bits. However, the maximum number of SCells that can be configured for a UE may be limited. For example, a UE can be configured with a maximum of 15 SCells. In this scenario, 15 bits would be sufficient for SCell dormancy indication. As a result, Example #1 may provide too many bits for SCell dormancy indication. Embodiments of present disclosure further provide enhanced solutions for SCell dormancy indication.

[0076] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, a set of fields in a DCI for cell #A is interpreted as SCell dormancy indication for a UE. For convenience, the set of fields is hereinafter denoted as field set #A. Field set #A may include the NDI field in the DCI for cell #A, the RV field in the DCI for cell #A, or both. In other words, field set #A may include the NDI block for cell #A, the RV block for cell #A, or both. A plurality of bits in field set #A may be concatenated into an SCell dormancy indicator according to a predefined rule. The SCell dormancy for each SCell of the UE may be indicated by a corresponding bit in the SCell dormancy indicator.

[0077] As described above, the NDI block for a cell may include a set of NDIs and the RV block for a cell may include a set of RVs. An NDI in the NDI block may also be referred to as an NDI sub-block and an RV in the RV block may also be referred to as an RV sub-block. In some embodiments, a certain NDI (s) , NDI sub-block (s) or bit (s) in the NDI block for cell #A or a certain RV (s) , RV sub-block (s) or bit (s) in the RV block for cell #A may be interpreted as SCell dormancy indication.

[0078] For example, the plurality of bits in field set #A that is concatenated to form the SCell dormancy indicator may include one or more of: at least one predefined NDI in the set of NDIs of the NDI block for cell #A; at least one predefined RV in the set of RVs of the RV block for cell #A; at least one predefined bit in the NDI block for cell #A; and a number of predefined bits in the RV block for cell #A.

[0079] For example, the at least one predefined NDI may include the first or the last NDI of the set of NDIs in the NDI block for cell #A. For example, the at least one predefined RV may include the first or the last RV of the set of RVs in the RV block for cell #A. For example, the DCI may indicate a row of the TDRA table for cell #A. Each row of the TDRA table may include one or more TDRAs, each of which may include an SLIV. The first NDI or RV may correspond to the first SLIV in the indicated row, and the last NDI or RV may correspond to the last SLIV in the indicated row. For example, the set of NDIs in an NDI block and the set of RVs in the RV block may be ordered according to a rule. The first or the last NDI may refer to the first one in the ordered set of NDIs. The first or the last RV may refer to the first one in the ordered set of RVs. In some embodiments, the predefined NDI may be concatenated with the predefined RV and then the concatenated bits may be concatenated with at least one field in field set #A.

[0080] For example, the at least one predefined bit in the NDI block may include the MSB or LSB of the block. For example, the number of predefined bits in the RV block may include X MSBs or X LSBs of the block. The value of X may be the number of bits of an RV for cell #A configured by RRC signaling. For example, the value of X may be 0, 1 or 2 determined by "numberOfBitsForRV-DCI-1-3" configured for cell #A. In some embodiments, the predefined bit in the NDI block may be concatenated with the predefined bit (s) in the RV block, and then the concatenated bits may be concatenated with at least one field in field set #A.

[0081] In some embodiments, one or more bits of the SCell dormancy indicator may be reserved, depending on the number of SCells for the UE. For example, assuming that 8 SCells are configured for the UE and the concatenated bits for the SCell dormancy indicator include 15 bits, then 7 bits are reserved since the remaining 5 bits are sufficient for SCell dormancy indication.

[0082] In some embodiments, one or more fields of field set #A may be excluded from indicating SCell dormancy, depending on the maximum number of SCells for the UE. For example, assuming that a UE can be configured with a maximum of 15 SCells, field set #A includes 4 fields, and the number of bits of the first three fields is equal to or greater than 15, then the last field can be excluded from indicating SCell dormancy.

[0083] In some embodiments, field set #A may include one or more of the following fields corresponding to cell #A: an MCS field, NDI field, RV field, HARQ process number field, antenna port field, DMRS sequence initialization field or BWP indicator field. Other fields that can be conceived of by persons skilled in the art may also be included, which is covered by the present disclosure. In some examples, the MCS field, NDI field or RV field refers to the corresponding field of TB1, the corresponding field of TB2, or both. For example, field set #A may include one or more of the following fields corresponding to cell #A: the MCS of TB1, NDI of TB1, RV of TB1, HARQ process number, antenna port field, DMRS sequence initialization field and BWP indicator. For example, field set #A may include one or more of the following fields corresponding to cell #A: the MCS of TB1, NDI of TB1, RV of TB1, MCS of TB2, NDI of TB2, RV of TB2, HARQ process number, antenna port field, DMRS sequence initialization field and BWP indicator. According to the above embodiments, a certain NDI (s) or bit (s) of the NDI block for cell #A in the "NDI of TB1" field or "NDI of TB2" field may be actually used for SCell dormancy indication; and a certain RV (s) or bit (s) of the RV block for cell #A in the "RV of TB1" or "RV of TB2" field may be actually used for SCell dormancy indication.

[0084] The fields in field set #A may be ordered according to various rules and then concatenated to form the SCell dormancy indicator. The following are some examples of field set #A. For each example below, one or more shown fields in the corresponding example can be concatenated for SCell dormancy indication, with the MSB to LSB of the listed fields in the corresponding example concatenated in the order below corresponding to the SCell with lowest to highest SCell index:

[0085] Example #A1: ● MCS of TB1 ● the first NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the first RV of the RVs of TB1 ● HARQ process number ● Antenna port (s) if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type

[0086] Example #A2: ● MCS of TB1 ● the last NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the last RV of the RVs of TB1 ● HARQ process number ● Antenna port (s) if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type

[0087] Example #A3: ● MCS of TB1 ● the MSB of the block for cell #A in the field of NDI of TB1 ● the X MSB (s) of the block of cell #A in the field of RV of TB1, wherein the  value of X is the number of bits of an RV for cell #A configured by RRC signaling ● HARQ process number ● Antenna port (s) if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type

[0088] Example #A4: ● MCS of TB1 ● the LSB of the block for cell #A in the field of NDI of TB1 ● the X LSB (s) of the block of cell #A in the field of RV of TB1, wherein the  value of X is the number of bits of an RV for cell #A configured by RRC signaling ● HARQ process number ● Antenna port (s) if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type

[0089] As mentioned previously, one or more fields in Example #A1 to Example #A4 may be excluded from indicating SCell dormancy, depending on the maximum number of SCells for the UE. In addition, one or more bits of the SCell dormancy indicator formed based on Example #A1 to Example #A4 may be reserved, depending on the number of SCells for the UE.

[0090] From the perspective of a UE, in response to a one-shot hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) request field being absent from the DCI or indicating that one-shot HARQ-ACK feedback is not triggered (e.g., set to '0' ) , a HARQ-ACK retransmission indicator being absent from the DCI or indicating that HARQ-ACK retransmission is not triggered (e.g., set to '0' ) , and all bits of the corresponding block of the FDRA field in the DCI are set to '0' for resource allocation type 0 or set to '1' for resource allocation type 1 or set to '0' or '1' for dynamic switch resource allocation type, the UE can determine that field set #A in the DCI is interpreted as indicating secondary cell dormancy for each secondary cell of the UE. For example, field set #A may include one or more of: the "MCS of TB1" field for cell #A, one or more bits of the "NDI of TB1" field for cell #A, one or more bits of the "RV of TB1" field for cell #A, the HARQ process number field for cell #A and the antenna port (s) field for cell #A (if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type (i.e., Type-2) ) . As described above, one or more fields in field set #A may be concatenated to form an SCell dormancy indicator with each bit corresponding to one of configured SCell (s) of the UE.

[0091] For an SCell of the UE, a first value (e.g., '0' or '1' ) of a corresponding bit in the SCell dormancy indicator may indicate the UE to switch to a dormant BWP as the active DL BWP of the SCell. A second value (e.g., '1' or '0' ) of the corresponding bit may indicate the UE to switch to a first active BWP of the SCell in the case that the current active BWP of the SCell is the dormant BWP, or may indicate the UE to maintain the current active BWP of the SCell in the case that the current active BWP of the SCell is not the dormant BWP. The BS may configure the dormant BWP and the first active BWP for the UE by RRC signaling.

[0092] From the perspective of a BS, depending on whether a DCI is used to indicate SCell dormancy for the SCell (s) of the UE, it can set the fields in the DCI accordingly.

[0093] Referring to FIG. 2, cell #1 to cell #4 with an increasing order of serving cell indexes are indicated with FDRA values in a DCI. For example, FDRA 211 corresponding to cell #1 and FDRA 214 corresponding to cell #4 are valid, and FDRA 212 corresponding to cell #2 and FDRA 213 corresponding to cell #3 are invalid. Then, it can be determined that certain fields corresponding to cell #2 are interpreted as SCell dormancy indication. For example, the MCS field of TB1, the NDI field of TB1, the RV field of TB1, the HARQ process number field and the antenna port field (if configured as type 2) corresponding to cell #2 (i.e., blocks 222, 232, 242, 252 and 262 shown in FIG. 2) are interpreted as SCell dormancy indication. Assuming that the maximum number of schedulable PDSCHs by the DCI on cell #2 is 4, then the block of the NDI field of TB1 corresponding to cell #2 (i.e., block 232) includes 4 NDIs, denoted as a1, a2, a3 and a4 in FIG. 2. Each of a1, a2, a3 and a4 may be 1 bit. Correspondingly, the block of the RV field of TB1 corresponding to cell #2 (i.e., block 242) includes 4 RVs, denoted as b1, b2, b3 and b4. Each RV may include 0, 1 or 2 bits as configured by RRC signaling.

[0094] According to Example #A1, block 222, a1, b1, block 252 and block 262 may be interpreted as SCell dormancy indication. For example, the SCell dormancy indicator may include { {MSB to LSB of block 222} , a1, {MSB to LSB of b1} , {MSB to LSB of block 252} , {MSB to LSB of block 262} } . According to Example #A2, block 222, a4, b4, block 252 and block 262 may be interpreted as SCell dormancy indication. For example, the SCell dormancy indicator may be formed as { {MSB to LSB of block 222} , a4, {MSB to LSB of b4} , {MSB to LSB of block 252} , {MSB to LSB of block 262} } . According to Example #A3, since a1 is the MSB of block 232 and b1 is the X MSB (s) of block 242, block 222, a1, b1, block 252 and block 262 may be interpreted as SCell dormancy indication. For example, the SCell dormancy indicator may include { {MSB to LSB of block 222} , a1, {MSB to LSB of b1} , {MSB to LSB of block 252} , {MSB to LSB of block 262} } . According to Example #A4, since a4 is the LSB of block 232 and b4 is the X LSB (s) of block 242, block 222, a4, b4, block 252 and block 262 may be interpreted as SCell dormancy indication. For example, the SCell dormancy indicator may be formed as { {MSB to LSB of block 222} , a4, {MSB to LSB of b4} , {MSB to LSB of block 252} , {MSB to LSB of block 262} } . The MSB of the SCell dormancy indicator can indicate dormancy for the SCell with the lowest SCell index, the bit following the MSB can indicate dormancy for the SCell with the second lowest SCell index, and so on.

[0095] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the entire NDI or RV block for cell #A may be interpreted as SCell dormancy indication. For example, the plurality of bits in field set #Athat is concatenated to form the SCell dormancy indicator may include one or more of: all bits of the NDI block for cell #A; and all bits of the RV block for cell #A. The NDIs or bits of the NDI block for cell #A and the RVs or bits of the RV block for cell #A may be concatenated according to various rules. Examples for concatenating the fields in field set #A to form the SCell dormancy indicator will be described later.

[0096] In some embodiments, field set #A may include one or more of the following fields corresponding to cell #A: an MCS field, NDI field, RV field, HARQ process number field, antenna port field, DMRS sequence initialization field or BWP indicator field. According to the above embodiments, all bits of the NDI block for cell #A in the "NDI of TB1" field or the "NDI of TB2" field may be actually used for SCell dormancy indication; and all bits of the RV block for cell #A in the "RV of TB1" or "RV of TB2" field may be actually used for SCell dormancy indication.

[0097] In some embodiments, one or more fields of field set #A may be excluded from indicating SCell dormancy, depending on the maximum number of SCells for the UE. For example, assuming that a UE can be configured with a maximum of 15 SCells, field set #A includes 4 fields, and the number of bits of the first three fields is equal to or greater than 15, then the last field can be excluded from indicating SCell dormancy.

[0098] In some embodiments, one or more bits of the SCell dormancy indicator may be reserved, depending on the number of SCells for the UE. For example, assuming that 8 SCells are configured for the UE and the concatenated bits for the SCell dormancy indicator include 15 bits, then 7 bits are reserved since the remaining 5 bits are sufficient for SCell dormancy indication.

[0099] The bits of the NDI block for cell #A, the bits of the RV block for cell #A and the fields in field set #A may be ordered according to various rules and then concatenated to form the SCell dormancy indicator. The following are some examples.

[0100] For example, in some embodiments, each NDI in the set of NDIs of the NDI block for cell #A may be concatenated with a corresponding RV in the set of RVs of the RV block for cell #A to form a set of first concatenated bits; each first concatenated bits of the set of first concatenated bits may be concatenated to form concatenated bits (denoted as concatenated bits #B1) ; and then concatenated bits #B1 may be concatenated with at least one field of field set #A. The following are some examples for field set #A. For each example below, one or more shown fields in the corresponding example can be concatenated for SCell dormancy indication, with the MSB to LSB of the listed fields in the corresponding example concatenated in the order below corresponding to the SCell with lowest to highest SCell index:

[0101] Example #B1: ● MCS of TB1 ● the first NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the first RV of the RVs of TB1 ● the second NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the second RV of the RVs of TB1 ● … ● the last NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the last RV of the RVs of TB1 ● HARQ process number ● Antenna port (s) if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type

[0102] Example #B2: ● MCS of TB1 ● the last NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the last RV of the RVs of TB1 ● the penultimate NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the penultimate RV of the RVs of TB1 ● … ● the first NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the first RV of the RVs of TB1 ● HARQ process number ● Antenna port (s) if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type

[0103] In some embodiments, an NDI (e.g., a predefined NDI) in the set of NDIs of the NDI block for cell #A may be concatenated with a corresponding RV (e.g., a predefined RV) in the set of RVs of the RV block for cell #A to form concatenated bits (denoted as concatenated bits #B2) . For example, the predefined NDI may include the first or the last NDI of the set of NDIs in the NDI block for cell #A, and the predefined RV may include the first or the last RV of the set of RVs in the RV block for cell #A. Each of the remaining NDIs in the set of NDIs may be concatenated with a corresponding RV of the remaining RVs in the set of RVs to form a set of second concatenated bits; each second concatenated bits of the set of second concatenated bits may be concatenated to form concatenated bits (denoted as concatenated bits #B3) ; and then concatenated bits #B2, at least one field of field set #A and concatenated bits #B3 may be concatenated. The following are some examples for field set #A. For each example below, one or more shown fields in the corresponding example can be concatenated for SCell dormancy indication, with the MSB to LSB of the listed fields in the corresponding example concatenated in the order below corresponding to the SCell with lowest to highest SCell index:

[0104] Example #B3: ● MCS of TB1 ● the first NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the first RV of the RVs of TB1 ● HARQ process number ● Antenna port (s) if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type ● the second NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the second RV of the RVs of TB1 ● … ● the last NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the last RV of the RVs of TB1

[0105] Example #B4: ● MCS of TB1 ● the last NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the last RV of the RVs of TB1 ● HARQ process number ● Antenna port (s) if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type ● the penultimate NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the penultimate RV of the RVs of TB1 ● … ● the first NDI of the NDIs of TB1 ● the first RV of the RVs of TB1

[0106] In some embodiments, at least one predefined bit in the NDI block for cell #Amay be concatenated with a number of predefined bits in the RV block for cell #A to form concatenated bits (denoted as concatenated bits #B4) . For example, the at least one predefined bit in the NDI block may include the MSB or LSB of the block. For example, the number of predefined bits in the RV block may include X MSBs or X LSBs of the block. The value of X may be the number of bits of an RV for cell #A configured by RRC signaling. The remaining bit (s) in the NDI block may be concatenated with the remaining bit (s) in the RV block for cell #A to form concatenated bits (denoted as concatenated bits #B5) ; and then concatenated bits #B4, at least one field of field set #A and concatenated bits #B5 may be concatenated. The following are some examples for field set #A. For each example below, one or more shown fields in the corresponding example can be concatenated for SCell dormancy indication, with the MSB to LSB of the listed fields in the corresponding example concatenated in the order below corresponding to the SCell with lowest to highest SCell index:

[0107] Example #B5: ● MCS of TB1 ● the MSB of the block for cell #A in the field of NDI of TB1 ● the X MSB (s) of the block of cell #A in the field of RV of TB1, wherein the  value of X is the number of bits of an RV for cell #A configured by RRC signaling ● HARQ process number ● Antenna port (s) if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type ● the remaining bits of the block for cell #A in the field of NDI of TB1 ● the remaining bits of the block of cell #A in the field of RV of TB1

[0108] Example #B6: ● MCS of TB1 ● the LSB of the block for cell #A in the field of NDI of TB1 ● the X LSB (s) of the block of cell #A in the field of RV of TB1, wherein the  value of X is the number of bits of an RV for cell #A configured by RRC signaling ● HARQ process number ● Antenna port (s) if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type ● the remaining bits of the block for cell #A in the field of NDI of TB1 ● the remaining bits of the block of cell #A in the field of RV of TB1

[0109] In some embodiments, concatenating all bits of the NDI block for cell #A may be concatenated with all bits of the RV block for cell #A to form concatenated bits (denoted as concatenated bits #B6) ; and then concatenated bits #B6 may be concatenated with at least one field of field set #A. The following are some examples for field set #A. For each example below, one or more shown fields in the corresponding example can be concatenated for SCell dormancy indication, with the MSB to LSB of the listed fields in the corresponding example concatenated in the order below corresponding to the SCell with lowest to highest SCell index:

[0110] Example #B7: ● MCS of TB1 ● all bits of the block for cell #A in the field of NDI of TB1 ● all bits of the block of cell #A in the field of RV of TB1 ● HARQ process number ● Antenna port (s) if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type

[0111] As mentioned previously, one or more fields in Example #B1 to Example #B7 may be excluded from indicating SCell dormancy, depending on the maximum number of SCells for the UE. For example, assuming that a maximum of 8 PDSCHs can be scheduled for a cell, then the block for cell #A in the field of NDI of TB1 may include a maximum of 8 bits and the block of cell #A in the field of RV of TB1 may include a maximum of 8 RVs. Further assuming that a UE can be configured with a maximum of 15 SCells, then the HARQ process number for cell #A, the antenna port field for cell #A or both in Example #B1 to Example #B7 may be excluded from the SCell dormancy indication. In addition, one or more bits of the SCell dormancy indicator formed based on Example #B1 to Example #B7 may be reserved, depending on the number of SCells for the UE.

[0112] From the perspective of a UE, in response to a one-shot HARQ-ACK request field being absent from the DCI or indicating that one-shot HARQ-ACK feedback is not triggered (e.g., set to '0' ) , a HARQ-ACK retransmission indicator being absent from the DCI or indicating that HARQ-ACK retransmission is not triggered (e.g., set to '0' ) , and all bits of the corresponding block of the FDRA field in the DCI are set to '0' for resource allocation type 0 or set to '1' for resource allocation type 1 or set to '0' or '1' for dynamic switch resource allocation type, the UE can determine that field set #A in the DCI is interpreted as indicating secondary cell dormancy for each secondary cell of the UE. For example, field set #A may include one or more of: the "MCS of TB1" field for cell #A, all bits of the "NDI of TB1" field for cell #A, all bits of the "RV of TB1" field for cell #A, the HARQ process number field for cell #A, and the antenna port (s) field for cell #A (if the antenna port is configured as the cell-specific type (i.e., Type-2) ) . As described above, one or more fields in field set #A may be concatenated to form an SCell dormancy indicator with each bit corresponding to one of configured SCell (s) of the UE.

[0113] For an SCell of the UE, a first value (e.g., '0' or '1' ) of a corresponding bit in the SCell dormancy indicator may indicate the UE to switch to a dormant BWP as the active DL BWP of the SCell.

[0114] From the perspective of a BS, depending on whether a DCI is used to indicate SCell dormancy for the SCell (s) of the UE, it can set the fields in the DCI accordingly.

[0115] Referring to FIG. 3, cell #1 to cell #4 with an increasing order of serving cell indexes are indicated with FDRA values in a DCI. For example, FDRA 311 corresponding to cell #1 and FDRA 314 corresponding to cell #4 are valid, and FDRA 312 corresponding to cell #2 and FDRA 313 corresponding to cell #3 are invalid. Then, it can be determined that certain fields corresponding to cell #2 are interpreted as SCell dormancy indication. For example, the MCS field of TB1, the NDI field of TB1, the RV field of TB1, the HARQ process number field and the antenna port field (if configured as type 2) corresponding to cell #2 (i.e., blocks 322, 332, 342, 352 and 362 shown in FIG. 3) are interpreted as SCell dormancy indication. Assuming that the maximum number of schedulable PDSCHs by the DCI on cell #2 is 4, then the block of the NDI field of TB1 corresponding to cell #2 (i.e., block 332) includes 4 NDIs, denoted as c1, c2, c3 and c4 in FIG. 3. Each of c1, c2, c3 and c4 may be 1 bit. Correspondingly, the block of the RV field of TB1 corresponding to cell #2 (i.e., block 342) includes 4 RVs, denoted as d1, d2, d3 and d4. Each RV may include 0, 1 or 2 bits as configured by RRC signaling.
