Description

[0001] TITLE A CASING AND A SEPARATOR FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0002]

[0001] The present invention relates to a casing having an application in the construction industry. The casing may be accommodated in walls or roof slabs of buildings, or roads and highways during the construction and may include a separator that aid in concealing and separating electrical conduits or electrical wiring and / or plumbing pipes individually.

[0003] BACKGROUND

[0004]

[0002] Generally, it is widely known that walls and roof in a hosing provide shelter against outside environmental conditions for example cold or rain or heat or wind. Therefore, the walls may be considered to be critical members for any construction. Such walls and roof further have significant functional requirement of accommodating or supporting many utilities for example wiring or plumbing or any other suitable fitments among others. Based on the requirement, the electrical conduits for the wirings and the plumbing pipes may be placed in the walls to circulate main incoming external inputs to a desired destination point.

[0005]

[0003] Conventionally, the walls may be drilled at respective desired locations for laying out electrical conduits for wirings and plumbing pipes, and then fixing them depending upon the type of the wall for example the electrical conduits for wirings and plumbing pipes in the walls may be fixed throughout their run by nails and then they may be immersed with a cement plaster or a putty. Also, in some cases electrical conduits or junction boxes and plumbing pipes may be adapted concealed on the load bearing walls for example beams, roof slabs, walls and then concrete may be poured. The electrical conduits or junction boxes and plumbing pipes may also be laid on temporary wooden or steel shuttering floor of the slab in few instances and then concreted and plastered. Constructions may also include walls with wooden material and wooden supports frame work closed with suitable insulation materials and with Plaster of Paris (POP) sheets or dry walls internally or externally as per requirement.

[0004] However, such conventional operations including laying out and fixing electrical conduits for wirings and plumbing pipes in the various types of walls have significant limitations. For example, while pulling wirings through electrical conduits, the pulling pressure may move the electrical conduits from a location fixed merely by nails. Similarly, the plumbing pipes fixed merely by nails may fail to withstand internal water pressure and may further lack required support. Since, the electrical conduits and plumbing pipes are immersed in the cement plaster or the putty and wall finishing may be completed, any future maintenance or issues with misalignment requiring re-fixing, is difficult, leading to labor intensive drilling or redrilling, wastage of operational time and other associated costs. Further, it has been conventionally noticed that such an arrangement where the nails are made of steel, conduits are made of plastic and the cement or the putty including lime as a raw material, may adversely affect the durability of the integration, leading to development of cracks at conduit external surface due to such dissimilar material integration.

[0005] Furthermore, it has been noted that in cases of the concrete walls, or temporary wooden or steel shuttering floor of the slab, the laid electrical conduits or plumbing pipes may not be uniformly supported. Also, before concreting, due to personnel movement, the laid electrical conduits or plumbing pipes may get unevenly bent or sometime damage or get broken at some locations with small cracks and tearing. Likewise, the concreting and plastering of the wall may lead to significant limitation of permanent closure of the electrical conduits and plumbing pipes, limiting the accessibility in cases of any damages or leakages. Conventionally, in cases of constructions with wooden walls and wooden supports, drilling may be required for laying out and fixing electrical conduits for wirings and plumbing pipes. Drilling holes within the wooden walls and wooden supports may reduce their cross sectional area, weakening strength of hollow (with hole) wooden support compared to complete (without hole) solid section wooden support. Also, the hole creation within the wooden walls and wooden supports may in some instances be nonuniform, or tapered resulting in uneven support thickness, or lessening of thickness area, or creating weaker section within the wooden walls and wooden supports, leading to breakage during any lateral loading or random loading.

[0006]

[0006] Still other significant limitations of conventional arrangements for laying out electrical conduits for wirings in the walls include the practice of laying the conduits with multiple or dense electrical wires together. Any requirement of additional wiring or replacement or placement or extension or pulling of the wires or maintaining wire flow and / or wire tightening within the already packed electrical conduits is challenging after certain years of construction, due to rigidness in old wires and limited space available for new wires. Any such attempt further requires, local drilling of the wall or wooden support that damages painting of wall or weakens the wooden support. Additionally, in situations concerning safety, if any electrical conduit or a single wire in the electrical conduit is short / damaged internally, leading to short circuits in the roof or walls, then replacing the electrical conduits or locating particular singular wire within electrical wires laid together for replacement is difficult in closed conduits. Similarly, in cases of leakages within the plumbing pipes, or gas pipe line or any cables / pipe any repair, maintenance requires destruction of the wall. Locating water leakage in the wall is not visible unless wall is destructed or broken.

[0007]

[0007] Therefore, there is a need to provide a casing and a separator for accommodating the electrical wiring and / or the plumbing pipes within the walls to overcome one or more of the aforementioned problems.

[0032] According to the exemplary embodiment, the casing of the present invention provides easy laying / concealment of electrical wires, or electrical conduits, or internet cables, or phone cables, or CCTV cables or any type of cable, or plumbing pipes and fittings, or a combination thereof within in walls and / or small local pipe and laying waterlines / sewage lines on roads / highways or in any concealed construction.

[0031]

[0033] According to the exemplary embodiment, the casing may be made of plastic or metals or any other suitable commercially available materials. Preferably, the casing may be made of a plastic material. The casing may be made as flexible member and may be filed to the wall. A thickness of the casing is less than a thickness of the wall. Preferably, the thickness of the casing is less than or equal to half of thickness of the wall. A layer of polyurethane glue may be applied to lower body and flanges of casing. The layer of the glue may be applied by brush at the time of the concreting or after the manufacturing of the casing. The polyurethane glue forms bonding between the concrete and the casing. The glue fills gaps and bridge irregularities in the substrates. Further, the polyurethane glue may act as a waterproof layer.

[0032]

[0034] According to the exemplary embodiment, the casing may be joined in parallel or in series one after another with suitable combination as per requirements of length and width for laying electrical conduits or electrical wirings and / or plumbing pipes or different types of cables, wires in roof slab or concrete walls or wooden or brick or metallic or non-metallic walls or a combination thereof or for laying waterlines within any type of walls in residential apartments, commercial building, roads and highways. The plurality pre-slotted casing together may form layouts as per required lengths with cavity sizes / shapes like “T”, “L” “Cross” “Straight”, “O” or a combination thereof as per requirement.

[0033]

[0035] According to the exemplary embodiment, the casing may include a junction box for joining different pipes crossing each other or a bathroom trap which may be fixed during wall preparation work without any requirement to cut / dig for waterlines or drain lines. The casing may be provided with locking ribs or locking tabs or locking projections for fixing electrical wire separators and / or plumbing pipes, and pipe supports. The pipe supports aid in fixing the pipes within the cavity without any bending or uneven shape. The Pipe support may be configured to isolate the detachable lid from electrical pipe / plumbing pipes so as to prevent any unnecessary or unexpected or involuntary opening of the lid. The lid may be opened due to any internal liquid pressure generated due to pipe bending at any point from pipe.

[0034]

[0036] According to the exemplary embodiment, the casing of the present invention with pre-slotted cavity saves a lot of time, cost for generation of slots without any wastages of debris. The debris and dust reduction creates less pollution in environment. The casing shape increases support at roof bottom or wall surface before pouring of the concrete. The casing provides independence of plaster concrete like any external layer which limits access to future maintenance. The casing isolates electrical conduits and / or plumbing pipes from plaster or concrete.
