Description

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR VALIDATING WORK ORDER IN A COMMUNICATION NETWORKTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of wireless communication networks. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a system and a method for validating work order in a communication network.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The subject matter disclosed in the background section should not be assumed or construed to be prior art merely due to its mention in the background section. Similarly, any problem statement mentioned in the background section or its association with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed or construed to have been previously recognized in the prior art.

[0003] With recent advancements in communication networks, there is a massive increase in the number of users latched to a communication network. This has increased the need for monitoring the performance of the communication network. Network administrators perform constant monitoring of the network to enrich user experience. As the number of users increases in a specific geographic region, the amount of network traffic in the specific geographic region increases. The increase in the traffic leads to degradation in the performance of the network by decrease in throughput, bandwidth, speed, etc.

[0004] The users use applications or web portal to perform a test to monitor the performance of the communication network. Some applications or web portals require users to input one or more parameters required for creating work orders to perform the test. The parameters include device identity, start and stop time of the test, start and end date of the test, etc. The users are required to enter the parameters in data-entry fields of a User Interface (UI).

[0005] In conventional systems, if the user inputs invalid data into the data-entry fields, the work order is created with invalid data and produces erroneous results. Also, if the user sends multiple requests for performing the same test, duplication of data is created in a database, thereby increasing the load of a backend server and the database.

[0006] In light of the aforementioned challenges, there is a need for a system and method that can address the issue of validating the work orders by verifying the parameters entered in the data-entry fields for performing a task specified in the work orders.SUMMARY

This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key / critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.

[0008] In an embodiment, a method for validating a work order in a communication network is disclosed. The method includes receiving, by a reception module from a User Equipment (UE), a request for validating the work order. The method further includes extracting, by an extraction module, one or more parameters associated with the work order from the request. Further, the method includes validating, by a validation module, the work order based on a determination that the one or more parameters associated with the work order in the request are in a valid format.

[0009] In some aspects of the present disclosure, the method further includes displaying, by a display module on a User Interface (UI) of the UE based on a result of the determination that the one or more parameters in the request are not in the valid format, one of an error message to notify a user that the one or more parametersin the request are not in the valid format, or a notification message to notify the user to select the one or more parameters for the work order in a predefined format.

[0010] In some aspects of the present disclosure, the method further includes comparing, by a comparison module, a format of each of the one or more parameters associated with the work order with a corresponding predefined format among one or more predefined formats stored in a database. Further, the method includes determining, by the determination module, that the one or more parameters associated with the work order are in the valid format based on a result of the comparison indicating that the format of each of the one or more parameters is same as the corresponding predefined format.

[0011] In some aspects of the present disclosure, the one or more parameters associated with the work order includes one or more of an International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) of the UE, a start time, an end time, a start date, and an end date.

[0012] In some aspects of the present disclosure, for extracting the one or more parameters associated with the work order from the request, the method further includes extracting, by the extraction module, the one or more parameters associated with the work order using one or more data processing techniques.

[0068] The comparison module 310 may compare a format of each of the one or more parameters associated with the work order with a corresponding predefined format among one or more predefined formats stored in the database 228.

[0069] In a non-limiting example, the predefined formats of number of digits of the IMEI may comprise 15 digits, a format of the date may be MM-DD-YYYY, and a format of the time may be HH:MM:SS. The comparison module 310 may compare each predefined format with of each of the one or more parameters associated with the work order extracted.

[0070] The determination module 312 may determine that the one or more parameters associated with the work order are in a valid format based on a result of the comparison indicating that the format of each of the one or more parameters is same as the corresponding predefined format.

[0071] In some embodiments, if the extraction module 304 extracts the one or more parameters from the request received by the reception module 302, the comparison module 310 may compare the format of the one or more parameters with the corresponding predefined formats stored in the database 228. The determination module 312 may determine that format of the one or more parameters extracted from the request matches with the corresponding predefined formats stored in the database 228.

[0072] In a non-limiting example, if the extracted date is in the format MM-DD- YYYY, then the comparison module 310 may compare the predefined format of date with the extracted date. The determination module 312 may determine that theformat of the extracted date is same as the predefined format of date. If the extracted time is in the format HH:MM:SS, then the comparison module 310 may compare the predefined format of time with the extracted time. The determination module 312 may determine that the format of the extracted time is same as the predefined format of time. If the extracted IMEI comprise 15 digits, then the comparison module 310 may compare the predefined format of IMEI with the extracted IMEI. The determination module 312 may determine that the format of the extracted IMEI is same as the predefined format of IMEI.

[0073] The validation module 306 may validate the work order based on a determination that the one or more parameters associated with the work order in the request are in the valid format. If the format of the extracted one or more parameters are same as the corresponding predefined formats, the validation module 306 may validate request for the work order. The server 110 may process the work order after validation.

[0074] The generation module 314 may generate a result after processing the work order based on the request received from the UE 104.

[0075] The display module 308 may display a result of a task performed based on the valid work order on the UI 210 of the UE 104, based on a result of the determination that the one or more parameters in the request are in the valid format.

[0076] In some embodiments, the transmission module 316 may forward the work order to the NMS 230 for further processing.

[0077] In some embodiments, if the determination module 312 determines that the one or more parameters extracted from the request do not match with the corresponding predefined formats stored in the database 228, the determining module 312 may determine that the one or more parameters in the request is invalid. The generation module 314 may generate an error message based on the determination that the one or more parameters is invalid. The display module 308 may display the error message on the UI 210 of the UE 104 to notify a user that theone or more parameters in the request are not in the valid format. Further, the display module 308 may display a notification message on the UI 210 of the UE 104 to notify the user to select the one or more parameters for the work order in the predefined format.

[0078] In a non-limiting example, if the reception module 302 receives the IMEI of the UE 104 with 14 digits instead of receiving 15 digits, the comparison module 310 may compare the extracted IMEI of the UE 104 with the format of the IMEI stored in the database 228. The determination module 312 may determine that the format of the IMEI of the UE 104 does not match with the predefined format of the IMEI. The validation module 306 may not validate the work order. The generation module 314 may generate the error message such as “Invalid IMEI”. The display module 308 may display the error message on the UI 210 of the UE 104.

[0079] In a non-limiting example, if the reception module 302 receives the start time in the request lesser than a current time of the server 110, then the determination module 312 may determine a mismatch in the start time. The generation module 314 may generate the error message such as “Invalid Start Time” and sends to the display module 308. The display module 308 may display the error message on the UI 210 ofthe UE 104.

[0080] In some embodiments, the reception module 302 may receive the start date and / or the end date in a format that may not be recognizable by the server 110. For example, if the format of the date in the one or more attributes may be MM-DD- YYYY and the start date received by the reception module 302 may be DD-MM- YYYY, then the determination module 312 may determine the format of the start date to be mismatched with the format of the date stored in the database 228. The generation module 314 may generate the error message such as “Invalid Date Format” and sends to the display module 308.
