AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Conventional pumps experience efficiency loss due to leakage of substances from the pump chamber, particularly in high-pressure applications like espresso machines, despite the use of sealing members.
Method used
A pump design incorporating a flow path with a pump chamber, a piston, a first sealing member, a second sealing member, and a return flow path to redirect leaked substances back into the pump chamber, enhancing efficiency by minimizing leakage.
Benefits of technology
The design effectively suppresses efficiency loss by redirecting leaked substances, maintaining pump efficiency even under high-pressure conditions.

Abstract
This pump comprises: a piston that slides inside a cylinder so as to reduce or increase the volume of a pump chamber provided on a flow path through which a fluid flows as a transfer target; an O-ring that is provided on the outer circumferential surface of the piston and blocks a gap formed with respect to the inner circumferential surface of the cylinder; a diaphragm seal that is provided outside the pump chamber as compared to the O-ring, and prevents the fluid leaked out of the O-ring from further leaking to the outside; and a recirculation path that recirculates, to the upstream side of the flow path upstream from the pump chamber, the fluid leaked out of the O-ring. One end of the recirculation path facing the cylinder is provided with an opening on the pump chamber side with respect to the diaphragm seal in the sliding direction of the piston.
