Description

Apparatus for processing tubers or snails and method for processing tubers or snails

[0001] The present invention relates to a tuber or snail processing device and a method for processing tubers or snails, which are perennial weeds or snails such as apple snails that are buried in the soil of paddy fields.

[0002] The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has put forward the "Green Food System Strategy", and the expansion of organic agriculture has become an urgent task. In the expansion of organic agriculture, labor-saving weeding work is a major issue. In paddy rice cultivation, the development of mechanical weeding technology has been promoted. Although it has a high effect on annual weeds, its effect on paddy field perennial weeds that form tubers is low, and an efficient control technology has not been established. Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2 propose mechanical weeders. They weed the inter-row spaces of paddy rice with a rotor or the like, and weed the spaces between plants with a trowel or the like. Also, they bury weeds several centimeters into the soil in the inter-row spaces, and for the spaces between plants, they stir the surface layer of the paddy field so as not to damage the rice plants and float and remove the weeds from germination to the early growth stage. As for weed treatment devices for fields, there are those that dig up the soil with a rotary tiller and separate it with a sieve (Patent Document 3), and those that incinerate it with a flame simultaneously with the rotary tiller (Patent Document 4). As a method for suppressing the germination of weed seeds, in organic cultivation, there is a method of creating a reducing layer on the soil surface by deep water management. However, for existing technologies for paddy fields, their effect on perennial weeds buried in the soil is low. Also, even if the tubers of perennial weeds in the inter-row spaces are buried, they may germinate again. For existing technologies for fields, they are difficult to use in a flooded state. Also, when used during water drainage, in the case of Patent Document 3, paddy field soil is often clayey and cannot be sieved. For Patent Document 4, the fuel cost required for the flame is extremely high. Also, deep water management also has no effect on perennial weeds that germinate from tubers deep in the soil. Therefore, Patent Document 5 proposes a tuber treatment device that can prevent the germination of tubers of perennial weeds buried in the soil of paddy fields. The tuber treatment device according to Patent Document 5 has a digging part that scoops up the tubers together with the soil, a conveyor part that roughly separates the tubers scooped up by the digging part from the soil, and a roller part that crushes the tubers conveyed from the conveyor part. By removing a certain amount of soil by the conveyor part, the tubers can be efficiently crushed by the roller part, and the germination of tubers of perennial weeds buried in the soil of paddy fields can be prevented.

[0007] According to the tuber or snail processing apparatus of the present invention, by controlling the amount of mud conveyed to the conveyor section, the separation of mud from tubers or snails is facilitated, and the tubers or snails can be efficiently crushed in the roller section, thereby preventing sprouting from tubers of perennial weeds buried in the soil of paddy fields and preventing damage caused by snails.

[0009] The tuber or snail processing device according to the first embodiment of the present invention has a curved shape for the digging section that follows the rotational trajectory of the rotary. According to this embodiment, by controlling the amount of mud conveyed to the conveyor section, the separation of mud from tubers or snails can be facilitated, and the tubers or snails can be efficiently crushed by the roller section, thereby preventing sprouting from tubers of perennial weeds buried in the soil of paddy fields and preventing damage caused by snails.

[0010] A second embodiment of the present invention is a tuber or snail processing apparatus according to the first embodiment, wherein the front end of the digging section is located below the rotary axis, and the distance from the rotary axis is kept constant from the front end to the rear end of the digging section. According to this embodiment, by controlling the amount of mud conveyed to the conveyor section, the separation of mud from tubers or snails is facilitated, enabling rapid and highly efficient processing of tubers or snails.

[0011] A third embodiment of the present invention is a tuber or snail processing apparatus according to the first embodiment, wherein the conveyor section has a first-stage conveyor section and a second-stage conveyor section, the front end of the first-stage conveyor section is close to the rear end of the excavation section, the rear end of the first-stage conveyor section is adjacent to the front end of the second-stage conveyor section, the rear end of the second-stage conveyor section is close to the roller section, the rear end of the first-stage conveyor section is higher than the front end of the first-stage conveyor section, the rear end of the second-stage conveyor section is higher than the front end of the second-stage conveyor section, and the inclination angle of the second-stage conveyor section is greater than the inclination angle of the first-stage conveyor section. According to this embodiment, the length of the conveyor section can be shortened. Therefore, the moment applied to the tractor can be reduced, making it easier to maintain a balance of the load distribution between the front and rear wheels, making it easier to work even in narrow fields, and stones larger than tubers or snails that are scooped up together with the mud can be dropped from the conveyor section by the slope, preventing the rotation of the roller section from being hindered by stones larger than tubers or snails, and preventing interference with the crushing of tubers or snails.

[0012] A fourth embodiment of the present invention is a tuber or snail processing apparatus according to the first embodiment, wherein the excavation section scoops up soil located at a depth shallower than half the depth of the topsoil layer of the paddy field. According to this embodiment, by reducing the amount of mud conveyed to the conveyor section, the separation of mud from tubers or snails is facilitated, and tuber or snail processing can be performed quickly and efficiently.

[0013] A fifth embodiment of the present invention is a tuber or snail processing apparatus according to the third embodiment, wherein, with water filling the paddy field, the front end of the first-stage conveyor section is lower than the water surface, and the rear end of the second-stage conveyor section is higher than the water surface, and the excavation section scoops up soil from a portion shallower than half the depth of the topsoil layer of the paddy field. According to this embodiment, stones that are larger than tubers or snails and are scooped up together with the mud are more easily dropped from the conveyor section, and the amount of mud conveyed to the conveyor section is reduced, making it easier to separate the mud from the tubers or snails, and enabling rapid and highly efficient processing of tubers or snails.

[0014] The sixth embodiment of the present invention is a method for treating tubers or snails using a tuber or snail processing device according to any one of the first to fifth embodiments, wherein the tuber or snail processing is performed on a paddy field after puddling. Because the specific gravity of tubers is lighter than the specific gravity of the mud after puddling, most tubers float up due to puddling and then sink to the surface of the topsoil layer. Therefore, according to this embodiment, puddling is performed in the stage before the tuber processing, and instead of treating the entire topsoil layer, most tubers or snails can be processed by scooping up the soil in the part shallower than half the depth of the topsoil layer.

[0015] The following describes a tuber or snail processing device according to one embodiment of the present invention. Figure 1 is a diagram of the configuration of the tuber or snail processing device according to this embodiment, where Figure 1(a) is an overall configuration diagram of the device, Figure 1(b) is an enlarged view of the main part of Figure 1(a) showing the digging section, and Figure 1(c) is a side view of the main part shown in Figure 1(b). The tuber or snail processing device according to this embodiment has a digging section 10 that scoops up tubers or snails together with soil, a rotary 13 whose claws rotate above the digging section 10, a conveyor section 20 that roughly separates the tubers or snails scooped up by the digging section 10 from the soil, a roller section 30 that crushes the tubers or snails conveyed from the conveyor section 20, and a sled 40 provided below the conveyor section 20, and processes tubers or snails of perennial weeds buried in the soil of paddy fields. The tubers of perennial weeds include, for example, the tubers of Sagittaria trifolia and Eleocharis kuroguwai. Among snails, Pomacea canaliculata is particularly targeted. The tuber or snail processing device according to this embodiment is preferably used attached to a tractor 1 (see Figure 4).

[0016] In the digging section 10, the mud agitated and scooped up by the rotary tiller 13 is guided to the conveyor section 20. In the conveyor section 20, stones larger than the tubers or snails that are scooped up with the mud are allowed to fall due to an incline so that they are not transported to the roller section 30. The conveyor section 20 is inclined so that the digging section 10 side is lower and the roller section 30 side is higher. In this way, by removing a certain amount of soil with the conveyor section 20, the tubers or snails can be efficiently crushed by the roller section 30, preventing sprouting from tubers of perennial weeds buried in the soil of paddy fields and preventing damage caused by snails. In addition, by allowing stones larger than the tubers or snails that are scooped up with the mud to fall from the conveyor section 20 due to the incline, it is possible to prevent the rotation of the roller section 30 from being hindered by stones larger than the tubers or snails, and to prevent interference with the crushing of the tubers or snails. Furthermore, by tilting the conveyor section 20 so that the digging section 10 side is lower and the roller section 30 side is higher, it is possible to effectively prevent stones larger than tubers or snails from being transported to the roller section 30. By providing a skid 40 below the conveyor section 20, the skid 40 can support the conveyor section 20, reducing the rotational load on the roller section 30 due to the weight of the conveyor section 20, and enabling the roller section 30 to level the surface of the topsoil layer X. The skid 40 can support not only the weight of the conveyor section 20 but also a portion of the weight of the roller section 30.

[0017] Figure 2 is a diagram showing the conveyor section of the tuber or snail processing device. Figure 2(a) is a plan view of the first embodiment of the conveyor section, and Figure 2(b) is a side view of the first embodiment of the conveyor section. In the first embodiment of the conveyor section 20, a mesh belt 21 having holes smaller than the tubers A or snails is used on the mounting surface of the conveyor section 20. By using the mesh belt 21, the soil or mud can be roughly separated from the tubers A or snails, the holding function of the tubers A or snails can be enhanced and the tubers A or snails can be conveyed to the roller section 30, and stones B larger than the tubers A or snails can be dropped from the conveyor section 20.

[0018] Figure 2(c) is a plan view of the second embodiment of the conveyor section, and Figure 2(d) is a side view of the second embodiment of the conveyor section. In the second embodiment of the conveyor section 20, a small-hole forming material 22 having holes smaller than the tubers A or snails is used on the mounting surface of the conveyor section 20, and a plurality of transport bars 23 are provided in the width direction of the upper part of the small-hole forming material 22. By using the small-hole forming material 22 and providing a plurality of transport bars 23, the soil or mud can be roughly separated from the tubers A or snails, and the transport bars 23 can further enhance the holding function of the tubers A or snails, allowing the tubers A or snails to be transported to the roller section 30, while stones B larger than the tubers A or snails can be dropped from the conveyor section 20. As shown in Figure 2, the weight of the conveyor section 20 can also be reduced by using the small-hole forming material 22 on the mounting surface of the conveyor section 20.

[0019] Figure 3 is a diagram showing the roller section of the tuber or snail processing device. Figure 3(a) is a plan view of the roller section, Figure 3(b) is a side view of the roller section, Figure 3(c) is a perspective view of the main part of the roller section, and Figure 3(d) is a further enlarged view of the main part of Figure 3(c). The roller section 30 consists of a first roller 31 positioned in front in the direction of travel and a second roller 32 positioned behind the first roller 31. Tubers A of perennial weeds or snails buried in the soil of paddy fields are crushed between the first roller 31 and the second roller 32. The second roller 32 has a larger diameter than the first roller 31, and the second roller 32 is rotated in the direction of travel. By making the first roller 31, which rotates in the opposite direction to the direction of travel, smaller in diameter, the resistance to movement caused by the rotation of the first roller 31 can be reduced. The outer circumferential surfaces of the first roller 31 and the second roller 32 are provided with a mesh material 33 having holes smaller than those of the tubers A or snails. By providing the mesh material 33, the discharge of soil transported together with the tuber A or snail can be promoted, and the soil can be prevented from interfering with the crushing of the tuber A or snail. Depending on the object to be crushed, the mesh material 33 may be omitted, and steel pipes or the like may be used instead.

[0020] Figure 4 is a photograph showing a prototype of the tuber or snail processing device according to this embodiment. Figure 4(a) is a photograph of the device viewed from the front oblique direction, and Figure 4(b) is a photograph showing the digging section. As shown in Figure 4, the tuber or snail processing device is used by being mounted on the rear of the tractor 1. The digging section 10 is located below the rotary 13 and has a curved shape that follows the rotational trajectory of the rotary 13. By making the digging section 10 below the rotary 13 and having a curved shape that follows the rotational trajectory of the rotary 13, the amount of mud conveyed to the conveyor section 20 can be controlled, making it easy to separate the mud from the tubers A or snails, and the tubers A or snails can be efficiently crushed by the roller section 30, thereby preventing sprouting from tubers A of perennial weeds buried in the soil of paddy fields and preventing damage from snails.

[0021] Figure 5 is a diagram showing the configuration of the tuber or snail processing device in use. As shown in Figure 5, the soil of a paddy field has a hardpan layer Y below the soft topsoil layer X after tillage. During puddling, the tractor 1 usually travels over the hardpan layer Y, and the topsoil layer X is stirred up during puddling. The front end 10f of the digging section 10 is located below the rotation axis 13a of the rotary 13, and the distance from the rotation axis 13a is kept constant from the front end 10f of the digging section 10 to the rear end 10r of the digging section 10. Therefore, the amount of mud conveyed to the conveyor section 20 can be controlled, making it easy to separate the mud from the tubers A or snails, and enabling rapid and highly efficient processing of tubers or snails.

[0022] Preferably, the conveyor section 20 has a first-stage conveyor section 20A and a second-stage conveyor section 20B. In this case, the front end 20Af of the first-stage conveyor section 20A is close to the rear end 10r of the excavation section, the rear end 20Ar of the first-stage conveyor section 20A is adjacent to the front end 20Bf of the second-stage conveyor section 20B, and the rear end 20Br of the second-stage conveyor section 20B is close to the roller section 30. Furthermore, the rear end 20Ar of the first-stage conveyor section is set higher than the front end 20Af of the first-stage conveyor section, and the rear end 20Br of the second-stage conveyor section is set higher than the front end 20Bf of the second-stage conveyor section, making the inclination angle 20Bθ of the second-stage conveyor section 20B greater than the inclination angle 20Aθ of the first-stage conveyor section 20A. It is preferable to set the inclination angle 20Aθ of the first-stage conveyor section in the range of 5° to 20°, and the inclination angle 20Bθ of the second-stage conveyor section in the range of 20° to 45°. By having such a first-stage conveyor section 20A and a second-stage conveyor section 20B, the length of the conveyor section 20 can be shortened. Therefore, the moment applied to the tractor 1 can be reduced, making it easier to maintain a balance of the load distribution between the front and rear wheels, making it easier to work even in narrow fields, and stones larger than the tubers A or snails that are scooped up together with the mud can be dropped from the conveyor section 20 by the slope, preventing the rotation of the roller section 30 from being hindered by stones larger than the tubers A or snails, and preventing interference with the crushing of the tubers A or snails.

[0023] This embodiment describes a method for treating tubers or snails using a tuber or snail processing device. The tuber treatment according to this embodiment is preferably performed on paddy fields after puddling. Figure 6 shows the measured specific gravity of the tubers. The specific gravity of the mud in the paddy field after rough puddling was 1.10. The specific gravity of the mud in the paddy field after careful puddling was 1.28. For arrowhead, nearly 90% had a specific gravity of less than 1.10, and for water chestnut, over 60% had a specific gravity of less than 1.10. Furthermore, for both arrowhead and water chestnut, almost 100% had a specific gravity of less than 1.28. In other words, in paddy fields after puddling, because the specific gravity of tubers A is lighter than the specific gravity of the mud after puddling, most tubers A float up due to puddling and then settle on the surface of the topsoil layer X. Therefore, by performing puddling before the tuber treatment, and scooping up the soil from the part shallower than half the depth of the topsoil layer X, rather than treating the entire topsoil layer X, most of the tubers A or snails can be treated.

[0024] Therefore, as shown in Figure 5, the digging section 10 scoops up soil that is shallower than half the depth of the topsoil layer X of the paddy field. The depth of the topsoil layer X in a paddy field is generally about 15 to 20 cm, and by scooping up soil that is 3 cm to 5 cm from the surface of the topsoil layer X in the digging section 10, most of the tubers A or snails can be scooped up. In the digging section 10, by reducing the amount of mud conveyed to the conveyor section 20 in order to scoop up soil that is shallower than half the depth of the topsoil layer X of the paddy field, the separation of mud from tubers A is made easier, and tuber processing can be performed quickly and efficiently. As shown in Figure 5, with the paddy field filled with water, the front end 20Af of the first-stage conveyor section is lower than the water surface Z, and the rear end 20Br of the second-stage conveyor section is higher than the water surface Z. This facilitates the transport of soil and tubers A from the digging section 10 to the conveyor section 20, enabling rapid and highly efficient tuber processing.

[0025] The verification results showed that the soil pulverization rate after puddling (percentage of soil less than 2 cm) was approximately 95%, and tubers A were present in 5% of the soil clumps (approximately 2 cm to 10 cm) after puddling (n=71). Thus, after puddling, there were few large soil clumps, and the soil was easily broken along tubers A, roots, or stems, making it difficult for tubers A to remain in the soil clumps. An investigation into the number of buried tubers A before and after puddling using this example showed that the amount of tubers A in the paddy field soil decreased by 70% to 80%. Furthermore, the amount of tubers A decreased by 60% before and after tuber treatment.

[0026] Figure 7 shows the measured size and mass of the tubers and snails. Figure 7(a) shows the short side length and mass of the arrowhead tuber, and Figure 7(b) shows the shell height and mass at different shell heights of the apple snail. As shown in Figure 7, the apple snail is larger than the arrowhead tuber. Although not shown in the figure, the black water chestnut tuber is also larger than the arrowhead tuber. In the verification results for apple snails using the prototype shown in Figure 4, the population density was 2.9 individuals / m². 2 , with a shell height of 20 mm or more, 0.9 pieces / m 2 Under these conditions, 0.2 damaged shells / m 2 As a result, it was able to crush large conch shells by 25%.

[0027] The tuber or snail processing device according to the present invention can efficiently crush tubers or snails with its roller section, preventing sprouting from tubers of perennial weeds buried in the soil of paddy fields and preventing damage caused by snails. Furthermore, the tuber or snail processing device according to the present invention can crush and kill freshwater snails (Pomacea canaliculata) that inhabit paddy fields in the same way as tubers.
