Abstract
Description
"SYSTEM FOR OPENING WINDOWS AT AN ANGLE"
[0001] This patent relates to the technical field of windows for buildings in general, more specifically to a system for opening windows at an angle which, according to its general characteristics, has as its basic principle to provide the formation of an opening system in its own specific mechanical structure located by means of a structured arrangement at the lower and upper ends of the window sash and along the entire length of the adjacent lower and upper counterframes of the window by means of two fixed rails, each having a sliding support and a rotating support between the lower and upper ends of the window sash and the fixed rails, in order to enable, in an extremely practical, safe and precise way, a complete optimization in the opening procedures of each of the window sashes by means of a complete opening of the window sash up to 90°.The sliding of the window sash fixing column along the entire base / rail and the variation in the window sash opening between 91° and 180°, combined with high ergonomics and practicality in its manual movements, and based on an opening system with great resistance, safety and versatility.
[0002] With a specific design and shape that is easy to access for better adaptation and user safety, it features practicality in handling and functionality, is quite affordable, and due to its general characteristics and dimensions, is easily adaptable to a wide range of windows, buildings, users, and locations in general, regardless of their characteristics.
[0003] Unlike the various types and models of air conditioning units, as well as the widely known fans, which are limited to cooling and renewing the air in the environment in which they are located, the well-known doors and windows of buildings, when left open, allow ventilation and at the same time allow natural light to enter the rooms, making them fundamentally important for revitalizing and making the environments in which they are located more comfortable.
[0004] In this concept, one way to increase ventilation inside buildings is to add, enlarge, or modify the windows and doors of buildings to promote greater and better ventilation, as well as positioning windows and doors in various openings.
[0005] However, these seemingly simple solutions, widely applied due to their satisfactory results, are not always feasible due to structural safety concerns within the building or even for security reasons, as nowadays it is rarely possible to leave doors and windows open all day with peace of mind.
[0006] In this regard, when ventilation is achieved through open windows, one of the most common methods is to open the windows and create an air passage. More specifically, it is always better to open two windows instead of one, in order to create an air passage and obtain efficient ventilation. This is even more efficient if the two windows are positioned diagonally to each other.
[0007] Another widely known method is cross ventilation, which allows for a more airy environment because it directly aids the natural circulation of air inside the space. In other words, cross ventilation occurs when air or wind enters through one door or window and exits through another opening, following its natural direction.
[0008] Given this scenario, it has become essential for users of windows in buildings, especially those who need to allow significant airflow, to structure systems and / or devices capable of providing a new concept of airflow through the direct interference of the windows, enabling airflow / ventilation from the outside to the inside of the environment, aiming to reduce the internal temperature of the environment, as well as a pleasant and comfortable feeling in this space.
[0009] In a broad literature review aimed at establishing the current state of the art regarding window opening systems and devices in general, primarily angled window opening systems, the subject of this patent, no studies or documents relevant to the state of the art were found. that relate to the specific object claimed, namely, an opening system based on the rotational movement of the window opening that allows for a greater flow of air into the interior of the room.
[0010] However, a brief description of some documents claiming widely marketed and used systems and devices is necessary to clearly and precisely reveal the current state of the art applied in the area of window opening systems in general, in order to define the broad existence of novelty and inventive activity in the present opening system. Through this complete differentiation, it can be defined that these documents claiming systems and devices do not have the same conceptions and, especially, the same structures, applications, and functionalities as the present system for opening angled windows.
[0011] Brazilian patent document BR 10 2013 011382 4 - "Sliding Door or Window", filed on 08 / 05 / 2013, in which the sliding door or window (1) comprises a fixed structure (2), a leaf (3) that slides horizontally in relation to the structure (2) between an open position and a closed position; the leaf (3) comprises two crossbars (4, 5) and two columns (6, 7) joined together in pairs at their ends by the respective corner joining means of the structure (8, 9, 10, 11); a handle (12) connected to the leaf (3) to control the locking / unlocking means (13) that act between the column (6) of the leaf (3) and the fixed structure (2) in order to lock / unlock the leaf (3); two wheels (14, 15), each connected, during use, to one end of the lower crossbar (4) of the sheet (3) and resting on a horizontal base rail (16) to allow the sheet (3) to move horizontally between the two positions, open and closed;each of the two corner joining means of the structure (8, 9) connected to the lower crossbar (4) of the sheet (3) also comprises a hinge connection unit (17, lia) for raising and lowering the sheet (3) relative to the rail (16); the hinge connection unit (17, lia) is connected, at a first point (18), to the corner joining means of the structure (8, 9) and, at a second point (19), to a rotation axis (20, 21) of the respective wheel (14, 15) housed in the respective corner joining means (8, 9); and in such a way as to allow the leaf (3) to be raised and lowered by means of direct action on the corner joining means (8, 9); one (17) of the articulation connection units (17, lia) is configured to be connected to the control handle (12) to allow the raising movement during the opening of the leaf (3), and the lowering movement during its closing, by means of the direct action of the handle (12) itself.
[0012] Thus, while in the present patent for the angled window opening system the sash opens completely to 90° and, after that, it is possible to slide the sash fixing column along the entire base of the window and vary the sash in all openings from 91° to 180°, in the present patent document "Sliding door or window" each window sash only slides on its track without opening or varying the angle outwards.
[0013] The design of this patent document allows for the installation of a fixed security grille on the inside of the window, however it does not allow for the complete opening of each sash outwards; increased frontal air intake from extending the sash beyond the front projection area of the window; air intake from the sides by moving the hinge column of the sash on the track and by angling the sash; simultaneous air intake from three positions in a double-sash window: (front, left side and right side); easy cleaning of both sides of the sash; and greater sustainability, with more available area for ventilation.
[0014] Brazilian patent document BR 20 2019 009467 - "Multifunctional Window Arrangement", filed on 09 / 05 / 2019, presents a concept of multifunctionality in a window that implements the opening of the window by rotating articulation of the sashes and sliding of the sashes by pulleys and articulation and sliding gaps, giving the window assembly greater flexibility in the articulation of the sashes that compose the window assembly. The arrangement achieves the technical result by incorporating pulleys (21) into the sliding sashes (2) that establish the sliding and articulation of the sliding sashes (2). The opening of the window assembly (1) occurs through the sliding gap (31) which allows the pulleys (21) incorporated into the sliding sashes (21) to slide inside the frame (3) of the window assembly and through the gap of articulation (32) that allows the rotary articulation of the sliding leaves (2) by establishing passage for pulley (21) at the moment of rotation of the sliding leaves (2).
[0015] Thus, while in the present patent for the angled window opening system the sash opens completely to 90° and, after that, it is possible to slide the sash fixing column along the entire base of the window and vary the sash in all openings from 91° to 180°, in the present patent document "Multifunctional arrangement in window" each sash is simply slid on rails and the opening possible is always 90°.
[0016] The design of this patent document allows for the installation of a fixed security grille on the inside of the window and easy cleaning of both sides of the sash; however, it does not allow for the complete outward opening of each sash, only the outermost sash has this possibility. This patent document, "Multifunctional Window Arrangement," also does not allow for the intake of more frontal air by extending the sash beyond the frontal projection area of the window, the intake of air from the sides by moving the hinge column of the sash on a track and by angling the sash, the simultaneous intake of air from three positions in a two-sash window (front, left side, and right side), nor greater sustainability with more available ventilation area.
[0017] British patent document GB 190905642 - "Improvements to the Window", filed on 09 / 03 / 1909, in which an opening sash and a sliding strip are horizontally mounted in the same plane in a window frame, so that when the sash is open, the outer glass surfaces of both can be easily cleaned from the inside. The sash c is fitted with locking plates j engaging pins i in the frame and is provided with a groove m in the mullion engaging a tongue m in the mullion of the sliding strip b, the other tongue of which is grooved at n to engage a tongue n in the frame. Both parts of the window are fixed in the closed position by a single fastener y. A tongue o extends the entire length of the sill and a recess q is cut into the crossbar c on the sliding sash, and the face The lower part of the crossbar on the sash is flush with the lower part of the recess q, the sash rails being recesses to clear the tongue o in the sill and a tongue r that may be provided in the crossbar halfway up the sash frame. The sash may be held open in any position by a latch that engages notches in a semicircular bar s in the frame. The window may be provided with a fixed sash on each side, in addition to the sliding sash and the sash.
[0018] Thus, while in the present patent for the angled window opening system the sash opens completely to 90° and, after that, it is possible to slide the sash fixing column along the entire base of the window and vary the sash in all openings from 91° to 180°, in the present patent document "Window Improvements" only each sash opens to 180° allowing the sash to be cleaned on both sides.
[0019] The design of this patent document allows for the complete outward opening of each sash; the installation of a fixed security grille on the inside of the window; and easy cleaning of both sides of the sash; however, it does not allow for the intake of more frontal air from extending the sash beyond the frontal projection area of the window; nor air intake from the sides from the movement of the hinge column of the sash on the track and the angle of the sash, nor simultaneous air intake from three positions in a two-sash window: (front, left side and right side); nor greater sustainability, with greater availability of area for ventilation.
[0020] Singaporean patent document SG10201805303P "Sliding and Pivoting Window Assembly", filed on 06 / 20 / 2018, in which a double movable window assembly slides and rotates inward, more specifically a window assembly installed in a windowsill comprising at least two sliding window panels that are articulated to open the windows inward toward a user.
[0021] Thus, while in the present patent for the angled window opening system the sash opens completely to 90°, and after that it is possible... The window sash fixing column slides along the entire base of the window, and the sash is varied in all openings from 91° to 180°. In the present patent document "Sliding and Pivoting Window Assembly," a whole sash is slid and then slid 90° inward. It does not allow for lateral wind intake or further frontal air intake.
[0022] The design of this patent document allows for easy cleaning of both sides of the sash, however it does not allow for the complete opening of each sash outwards; nor does it allow for the intake of more frontal air by extending the sash beyond the frontal projection area of the window; nor for the intake of air from the sides by moving the hinge column of the sash on the track and by angling the sash; nor for the simultaneous intake of air from three positions in a double-sash window: (front, left side and right side); nor for the installation of a fixed security grille on the inside of the window; nor for greater sustainability, with greater availability of area for ventilation.
[0023] Pivot windows are designed so that they can be rotated around a vertical axis, usually positioned in the center of the structure, allowing the window to be opened from both the top and the bottom, thus facilitating ventilation of the room.
[0024] Thus, while in the present patent for a system for opening angled windows the sash opens completely to 90° and after that it is possible to slide the sash fixing column along the entire base of the window and vary the sash in all openings from 91° to 180°, in the present type of pivoting window it rotates around its own axis in a completely fixed location.
[0025] The design of the pivot-type window allows for easy cleaning of both sides of the sash, simultaneous air intake from three positions in a two-sash window (front, left side, and right side), and greater sustainability with more available ventilation area; however, it does not allow for the complete opening of each sash outwards, nor does it allow for more frontal air intake by extending the sash beyond the front projection area of the window, nor air intake from the sides by moving the hinge column on the track and angling the sash, nor the installation of a fixed security grille on the inside of the window. window.
[0026] A brief comparison with windows known as Airmax is also warranted, as their design allows for the complete outward opening of each sash and the installation of a fixed security grille on the inside of the window; however, they do not allow for easy cleaning of both sides of the sash, nor simultaneous air intake from three positions in a two-sash window (front, left side, and right side), nor greater sustainability with more available ventilation area, nor greater frontal air intake from extending the sash beyond the front projection area of the window, nor air intake from the sides by moving the hinge column of the sash on the track and by angling the sash.
[0027] Thus, in order to solve such problems and considering the costs and operational difficulties of widely known window opening systems, the present innovation was developed, consisting of an opening system designed to provide a valuable tool in considerably increasing the airflow from the outside to the inside of the environment in which it is installed, since correctly positioned windows allow for greater capture and direction of airflow into the interior of the environment.
[0028] Thus, the patent in question is characterized by bringing together components and processes in a differentiated design, which will meet the various requirements demanded by the nature of its use, namely, increasing the airflow into the interior of the environment in which it is located. This design guarantees a highly efficient, functional, resistant, durable, safe, versatile, practical, precise, ergonomic, and economical opening system due to the excellent technical qualities incorporated, which provides advantages and improvements in procedures for increasing airflow and reducing the internal temperature of environments in general, and whose general characteristics differ from other forms and models known in the current state of the art.
[0029] This patent consists of the use of a modern, efficient, safe and A functional system for opening angled windows, formed by a set of correctly incorporated mechanical and constructive solutions, composing a complete and differentiated opening system with an exclusive design and unique characteristics. It incorporates a specific mechanical structure, perfectly integrated and allocated through a structured arrangement at the lower and upper ends of the window sash and along the entire length of the adjacent lower and upper window frames. This is achieved by means of two fixed rails that fix the opening system to the window frame and allow for lateral sliding of the sliding support; two sliding supports that allow for lateral sliding of the window sash on the fixed rail; and two rotating supports that support and rotate the window sash on the sliding support, thus enabling the formation of a single, complete, and safe assembly.whose internal and external shapes and layouts allow for perfect adaptation to a wide range of windows and buildings in general, being specially designed for these purposes.
[0030] Thus, the overall design of the present system for opening angled windows, the subject of this patent, is based entirely on its simple and robust structure with a minimum number of necessary components and extremely simplified, safe and optimized operation, combined with very practical manufacturing and maintenance procedures, in order to generate a practical and efficient opening system capable of enabling excellent airflow / ventilation from the outside to the inside of the rooms, aiming at a pleasant reduction in the internal temperature of the room, as well as a feeling of well-being in this environment.
[0031] More specifically, its robust construction, quality materials, broad applicability, and compliance with construction industry standards make it a highly versatile, essential, and reliable product, mainly due to the near absence of maintenance procedures; that is, an opening system capable of providing a new concept of airflow into interior spaces through the direct interference of the positioning / movement of the windows. Regarding the building.
[0032] In this context, the opening system becomes a highly innovative solution designed to enable the generation and control of different airflows from the external environment to the interior of the spaces through the positioning of the window sash, primarily in generating a decrease in the internal temperature of the environment through the directed airflow.
[0033] The present system for opening angled windows is based on the application of components and processes in a differentiated design, without, however, reaching a high degree of sophistication and complexity, making it possible to solve some of the main drawbacks of other forms and models known in the current state of the art and employed in procedures for increasing airflow inside environments and, consequently, reducing the temperature in these environments, which are situated in a working range in which the forms and / or models present difficulties in use and application, low efficiency and performance, frequent accidents, significant deterioration and fragility, low versatility, low precision, high insecurity, high losses, lack of ergonomics, high cost, high overall volume and weight, complex handling, high maintenance, significant waste of time and complex manufacturing.
[0034] The objectives, advantages, and other important characteristics of the patent in question can be more easily understood when read in conjunction with the attached figures, in which:
[0035] Figure IA represents a top perspective view of the angled window opening system.

[0041] Figure 2 represents a top perspective view of the system for opening windows at an angle to the applied window sash.
[0042] Figures 3A, 3B, 3C, and 3D sequentially represent the various window sash arrangements of the angled window opening system, using one sash on the left and one sash on the right side of the same window. This sequence begins with the sashes fully closed, then opening until they are fully open at 180° angles, each to one side, and subsequently both sashes repeat the movements in the opposite direction until they are fully closed again.
[0043] As can be inferred from the attached figures that illustrate and form part of this descriptive report of the patent for "system for opening angled windows", comprising a complete opening system (1) with its own characteristics, which incorporates its own specific mechanical structure and contains perfectly integrated and allocated components arranged in a structured manner at the lower and upper ends of the window sash and along the entire length of the adjacent lower and upper counterframes of the window and based on: - two fixed straight rails (2) arranged horizontally and symmetrically along the entire lower and upper length of the opening system (1) and fixed parallel and symmetrically centered on and along the entire length of the lower and upper counterframe of the window opening, with the primary function of fixing the opening system (1) to the counterframe of the window opening and allowing sliding side of the sliding supports (3); - two straight sliding supports (3) hollow on their underside, each arranged horizontally, parallel and symmetrically fitted and sliding along the length of a fixed rail (2) and having a rotator arranged vertically and symmetrically centered on the outer lateral end of the sliding support (3), the whole assembly having the primary function of sliding the window sash (A) laterally along the two fixed rails (2) and, consequently, along the counterframes of the window opening; and - two straight rotating supports (4) hollow on the upper face, each arranged horizontally and symmetrically fitted into a lateral end of the window sash (A) (upper or lower) and horizontally, parallel and symmetrically fixed in a sliding support (3) by means of a rotator (4A) arranged vertically and symmetrically centered on the outer lateral end of the rotating support (4) adjacent to the rotator of the sliding support (3) in which it fits and rotates, with the primary function of supporting and rotating / rotating the window sash (A) in relation to the sliding supports (3).
[0044] The "System for Opening Angled Windows", according to application needs, comprises a position lock or graduated locking disc arranged horizontally, perpendicularly and symmetrically between the inner lateral end of the sliding support (3) and an adjacent point of the rotating support (4) or its extension, with the primary objective of locking the rotation of the rotating support (4) in relation to the sliding support (3) and, consequently, locking the window sash (A) at an open angle in the desired position when opening the window.
[0045] The window opening system is based on its precise, safe, and correct symmetrically aligned joint fixing between the window opening counterframe and the window sash (A), that is, jointly aligned at the lower and upper counterframes and at the lower and upper ends of the window sash (A) by means of the fixed rails (2). Initially, the desired rotation of the window sash (A) is performed manually until the 90° position by half of the rotation of the rotating support (4) generated by the rotation of the rotator (4A) in the rotating support (3), so as to position it fully open. Then, a small lateral sliding of the window sash (A) is performed manually by means of sliding the sliding support (3) along the fixed rail (2) towards the inside of the window opening (A), that is, separating the window sash (A), the rotating support (3) and the rotating support (4A) from the side face of the window opening counterframe. Finally, the desired rotation of the window sash (A) is performed manually to the 135° position by means of the rotation of the upper rotating support (4) generated by the rotation of the rotator (4A) in the rotating support (3), in order to position the window sash (A) inclined (chamfered) in relation to the window opening, as shown in figures (3A), (3B), (3C) and (3D) attached, by means of several possible positions of two window sashes (A) arranged in a window opening.
[0046] In this way, with this last positioning of the window sash (A) at one hundred and thirty-five degrees, an ideal opening of the window sash (A) is obtained for perfect optimization in the airflow capture procedure for the interior of the environment in which the window is installed.
[0047] To perform the procedures for closing the window sash (A), the same procedures applied to opening the window sash (A) are carried out manually, however in the completely opposite direction to that used in opening the window sash until it is closed or opened at ninety degrees.
[0048] More specifically, there are several arrangements of the window sashes of the system for opening angled windows using the left and right sashes of the same two-sash window with independent movements from each other. These various arrangements of the window sash system for opening angled windows can be understood through the following practical sequence, as demonstrated in the top views of figures (3A), (3B), (3C) and (3D): - two closed sheets; - a sheet opened at 40° and a sheet opened at 45°; - two leaves opened at 90°; - two open sheets, one at more than 90° and the other at 90°; - two leaves opened at 135°; - Two panes of glass opened at an angle greater than 135°, adding an additional airflow compared to conventional window positions; - two leaves opened at an angle greater than 135°; - two fully open leaves; - one sheet opened at 90° and another sheet opened at more than 135°; - one sheet opened at 45° and another sheet opened at more than 135°; - a sheet opened at 90° and a sheet closed; - one sheet open at 45° and another sheet closed; and - two closed sheets.
[0049] The window opening system becomes an innovative solution that seeks to improve the efficiency and final quality of airflow generation for the interior of environments, fully protecting the maintenance of comfortable internal temperatures in the face of high temperatures, primarily addressing the difficulties in application and operation of current window opening systems and equipment, thus facilitating the work of its users. Its robust construction, quality materials, and compliance with current standards in the civil construction industry make it a highly reliable choice.
[0050] In this regard, the window opening system, due to its fully integrated components, ensures that nothing comes loose and nothing breaks or bends, achieving a high level of performance and efficiency, combined with high durability and absolute safety. Once fully integrated with each other and the building structure, the components remain fixed and cohesive, preventing them from coming loose during use. The entire assembly is then fully available for a wide range of procedures to regulate the flow of external air into the interior of the rooms. Therefore, the opening system (1) can be used without any concerns whatsoever, particularly regarding the durability and safety of its components, as well as the safety of its users. users.
[0051] It can be concluded that the angled window opening system fully achieves its essential objectives, providing a versatile and essential tool for application in a wide variety of buildings to reduce discomfort caused by high indoor temperatures through improved airflow. Its broad applicability and wide range of benefits make this innovative window opening system a highly reliable choice for the primary goal of improving procedures aimed at achieving excellent indoor temperature quality within the building.
[0052] The angled window opening system has the following specific advantages: allowing each window sash to open completely outwards; permitting the installation of fixed security grilles on the inside of the window; enabling practical and safe cleaning of both sides of the window sash (A); enabling the intake of more frontal air by extending the window sash (A) beyond the frontal projection area of the window (A); enabling air intake from the sides of the window by moving the hinge column of the window sash (A) on the track and angling the window sash (A); enabling simultaneous air intake from three positions in a double-sash window - frontal, left side and right side; and having greater sustainability, with more available area for ventilation directed to the interior environment.
[0053] In this design, the simple and robust structure of the opening system, as well as its low manufacturing, operation, and maintenance costs, makes it fully accessible to a wide variety of users and construction companies, even those with limited budgets. This allows window users broad access to procedures for regulating airflow into various types of environments with quality, efficiency, and safety.
[0054] Based on everything presented, this is a window opening system that will be well received by window users, as well as window manufacturers and... Building contractors in general, as the angled window opening system offers numerous advantages, such as: high safety, reliability and speed of application; high yield and performance in its application due to its overall design; high comfort, convenience and safety for users; very high overall resistance and durability, combined with low or no wear and tear on the assembly as a whole; totally affordable costs which allows for an excellent cost / benefit ratio; practical and safe use by a wide range of users; wide range of reach; very low and practical overall maintenance; perfect and direct adaptation to the most diverse types of buildings and window panes (A); high operational ergonomics; excellent load-bearing capacity; and the certainty of having an opening system (1) that fully meets current legislation and standards and the basic conditions necessary for its application as a whole.
[0055] All these attributes allow the angled window opening system to be classified as a completely versatile, efficient, practical, and safe means for manually applying a wide range of procedures for regulating the flow of external air into the interior of various types of environments, by a wide range of users and in various types of locations, regardless of their general characteristics.
