[0043] It is to be understood that although the first device 110 and the second device 120 are illustrated as separate devices, in some embodiments, the first device 110 and the second device 120 may be integrated into a single device such as a network device or any other suitable device. In some embodiments, the first device 110 may be a network device, a terminal device, a control node or other suitable device with a Tx node. The second device 120 may be a network device, a terminal device, a control node or other suitable device with a Rx node.

[0044] By way of example, the third device 130 may include a target device or target node. The target device or node may be implemented as a terminal device or deployed at a device or node. For example, the third device 130 may include an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) , a train, an (outdoor) automative vehicle such as a car, a train, a high-speed train (HST) , an automated guided vehicle, objects creating hazards on roads or railways, or any other suitable terminal device or vehicle. The first device 110 may include a transmitting (Tx) node. The second device 120 may include a receiving (Rx) node. A signal such as sensing signal may be transmitted from the first device 110 to the third device 130, and then forwarded, transmitted, or reflected to the second device 120.

[0045] In some embodiments, the first device 110 and the second device 120 may support ISAC. ISAC aims to integrate sensing functions into the current communication system. The sensing functions are expected to enable the network to “see” the world through the wireless signal and other inputs to connect the physical world with the digital world. For example, a node or a device in the communication environment 100 such as the first device 110 and / or the second device 120 may be used to sense an object such as the third device 130 in a sensing area.

[0046] As used herein, the node or device sensing the object may be referred to as a “sensing node” or “sensing device” . The first device 110 including the Tx node may be referred to as a Tx sensing node or Tx sensing device. The second device 120 including the Rx node may be referred to as a Rx sensing node or Rx sensing device. As used herein, the object such as the third device 130 sensed by the sensing node may be referred to as a “target” , an “object” , a “sensing target” , a “sensing object” or a “target object” . The sensing area may be referred to as a “sensing interesting area” or a “sensing area of interest” .

[0047] To sense the third device 130, the Tx sensing node such as the first device 110 may transmit a sensing signal (e.g., a sensing reference signal (RS) ) towards the sensing area. The second device 120 may detect the sensing signal forwarded, transmitted or reflected by the third device 130, such as an echo signal reflected from the third device 130. As used herein, the term “echo signal” or “echo sensing signal” may refer to a signal passively reflected by the object. The first device 110 and / or the second device 120 may perform a sensing service associated with the third device 130 or sense the third device 130 based on the detected sensing signal.

[0048] In some embodiments, the third device 130 may be controlled by a control node. In an embodiment, the control node may be a third-party node such as a third-party device provider. In another embodiment, the control node may be a core network (CN) function or CN node, or any other suitable node or device.

[0049] In some embodiments, the first device 110 and / or the second device 120 may communicate with the fourth device 140. The fourth device 140 may include a CN function such as a sensing function (SF) , a location management function (LMF) , or any other suitable CN function. The fourth device 140 may include a function entity in a CN for sensing function management. The fourth device 140 or the first device 110 or the second device 120 may be implemented as a control node for the third device 130. The fourth device 140 such as the SF may be configured to determine sensing policies and configurations for the first device 110 and / or the second device 120.

[0050] It is to be understood that although the fourth device in FIG. 1 is shown as being separate from the first device 110 and the second device 120, but this is only for illustration and not by way of limitation. In some example embodiments, the fourth device 140 may be collocated with the first device 110 and / or the second device 120 or implemented as a part thereof.

[0051] It is to be understood that the number of devices and their connections shown in FIG. 1 are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The communication or sensing environment 100 may include any suitable number of devices configured to implementing example embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0052] The communications in the communication environment 100 may conform to any suitable standards including, but not limited to, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) , Long Term Evolution (LTE) , LTE-Evolution, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) , New Radio (NR) , Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) , Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) , Machine Type Communication (MTC) and the like. The embodiments of the present disclosure may be performed according to any generation communication protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Examples of the communication protocols include, but not limited to, the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, 5.5G, 5G-Advanced networks, or the sixth generation (6G) networks.

[0053] As described above, there will be multiple sensing targets in a sensing area. For sensing targets detection and / or tracking in a sensing area, how to sense multiple targets to be considered. The present disclosure provides a solution that obtain sensing measurements and sense targets based on the obtained sensing measurements.

[0054] In some embodiments, several sensing modes have been proposed. For example, the first device 110 and / or the second device 120 may perform the sensing in one of the following sensing modes described with respect to FIG. 2A to FIG. 2F, or any other suitable sensing mode not shown. The sensing mode may be configured by the third device 130 or by a further node or device in the communication environment 100.

[0055] FIG. 2A illustrates sensing mode 200 which may be referred to as a mono-static sensing mode. In the sensing mode 200, a network device may serve as both a Tx node and a Rx node for sensing. That is, in the sensing mode 200, the sensing signal is transmitted by a network device or a network node, and received or measured by the network device or network node itself.

[0056] FIG. 2B illustrates sensing mode 210 which may be referred to as a bi-static sensing mode. In the sensing mode 210, a network device may serve as a Tx node, and another network device may serve as a Rx node for sensing. That is, the sensing signal is transmitted by a network node A and received or measured by another network node B.

[0057] FIG. 2C illustrates a sensing mode 220 that may be referred to as a UE collaborative sensing mode or a gNB assisted bi-static sensing mode. In the sensing mode 220, a network device is configured to operate as a Tx node, and a terminal device (e.g., UE) is configured to operate as a Rx node or sensing node. That is, the sensing signal is transmitted by a network node and received or measured by a terminal device such as UE.

[0058] Similar to FIG. 2C, FIG. 2D illustrates a sensing mode 230, which is another UE collaborative sensing mode or gNB assisted bi-static sensing mode. In the sensing mode 230, a network device is configured to operate as a Rx node or sensing mode, and a terminal device (e.g., UE) is configured to operate as a Tx node. That is, the sensing signal is transmitted by a terminal device such as UE and received or measured by a network node.

[0059] FIG. 2E illustrates a sensing mode 240 in which a terminal device (e.g., UE) is configured to operate as a Tx node and a Rx node. That is, in the sensing mode 240, the sensing signal is transmitted by a terminal device such as UE and received or measured by the terminal device itself.

[0060] FIG. 2F illustrates a sensing mode 250 in which a terminal device is configured to operate as a Tx node, and another terminal device is configured to operate as a Rx node or sensing node. That is, in the sensing mode 250, the sensing signal is transmitted by a terminal device such as UE A and received or measured by another terminal device such as UE B.

[0061] It is to be understood that the above sensing modes may be applied separately, or combined in any suitable way based on different scenarios, environments, service requirements, and the like. Scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0062] Study on channel modelling for ISAC for NR. The focus of the study is to define channel modelling aspects to support object detection and / or tracking. The study should aim at a common modelling framework capable of detecting and / or tracking the example objects and to enable them to be distinguished from unintended objects. The example objects comprise at least one of the followings: UAVs, humans indoors and outdoors, automotive vehicles (at least outdoors) , automated guided vehicles (e.g. in indoor factories) , objects creating hazards on roads / railways, with a minimum size dependent on frequency.

[0063] All six sensing modes should be considered (i.e. TRP-TRP bistatic, TRP monostatic, TRP-UE bistatic, UE-TRP bistatic, UE-UE bistatic, UE monostatic) .

[0064] In some embodiments, frequencies from 0.5 to 52.6 GHz are the primary focus, with the assumption that the modelling approach should scale to 100 GHz. If significant problems are identified with scaling above 52.6 GHz, the range above 52.6 GHz may be deprioritized. Details of the deployment scenarios corresponding to different use cases for sensing may be specified.

[0065] In order to solve at least part of the above problems or other potential problems, a solution on ISAC is proposed. According to example embodiments, a first device (such as a Tx) obtains sensing measurements of at least one sensing signal in a sensing area. The first device performs at least one operation for sensing at least one target based on the obtained sensing measurements and at least one condition associated with target sensing. The at least one operation comprises at least one of: a trajectory tracking of the at least one target, a beam configuration for sensing the at least one target, a state configuration for the at least one target, or a sensing signal configuration for the at least one target. The first device determines an identification result of the at least one target in the sensing area based on the at least one operation and sensing measurement information associated with the at least one target. The first device transmits, to a second device such as a Rx node, the identification result of the at least one target.

[0066] In this manner, the first device may determine whether the target is a target that has not been detected before based on the identification result of the target, and then the first device can determine the number of targets in the sensing area. Thereby, accuracy of the sensing results can be improved to target sensing and target tracking more effectively and efficiently.

[0067] Reference is made to FIG. 3, which illustrates a signaling flow 300 for ISAC in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, the first device 110 may be a Tx node such as Tx sensing node, the second device 120 may be a Rx node such as a Rx sensing node. The Tx sensing node and the Rx sensing node may sense a target such as the third device 130. The target may be implemented as a UAV or other vehicle or device. It is to be understood that in some embodiments, the first device 110 may be replaced by a further device such as the fourth device 140 in FIG. 1.

[0068] The first device 110 obtains (310) sensing measurements of at least one sensing signal in a sensing area. The sensing signal may be associated with any one of multiple targets. The first device 110 may be informed information such as motion information and position information of the target, based on the obtained sensing measurements and at least one condition associated with target sensing. In some embodiments, the sensing measurements may be received from the target, the second device 120 or the fourth device 140, or a third-party management device communicating with the second device 120, the target or the fourth device 140.

[0069] The first device 110 performs (320) at least one operation for sensing at least one target based on the obtained sensing measurements and at least one condition associated with target sensing, a state configuration for the at least one target, or a sensing signal configuration for the at least one target. The first device 110 performs (320) the operations to sense the target based on the status and information of the target, which can improve the sensing accuracy of the first device 110. The condition associated with target sensing may be received from a target, the second device 120 or the fourth device 140. Details regarding the sensing measurements and the condition will be described later.

[0070] In some example embodiments, the at least one condition comprises at least one of: a first condition for detecting a target, a second condition for tracking a target, a third condition for failing to track a target, or a fourth condition for detecting that a target leaves the sensing area.

[0071] In some example embodiments, the first condition at least comprises that a quality of a received sensing signal associated with the target is larger than a threshold (referred to as a “C1” hereinafter) . The quality of received sensing signal may be a reference signal received power (RSRP) , a reference signal received quality (RSRQ) , a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) , or any other suitable quality parameter. For example, a threshold quality may be predefined or configured by the first device 110. The first device 110 compares the quality of a received sensing signal and the threshold quality. If the quality of the received sensing signal is larger than the threshold quality, the C1 is satisfied. Otherwise, the C1 is not satisfied. In another embodiment, a threshold power may be predefined or configured by the first device 110. The first device 110 compares the power of a received sensing signal and the threshold power. If the power of the received sensing signal is larger than the threshold power, the first condition is satisfied. Otherwise, the first condition is not satisfied.

[0072] In some example embodiments, the first condition further comprises at least one of: a time delay difference between a first time delay of a new detected path corresponding to the received sensing signal and a second time delay of a history detected path being larger than a threshold time (referred to as a “C2” hereinafter) , or a difference between a first speed of the new detected path corresponding to the received sensing signal and a second speed of the history detected path being larger than a threshold speed (referred to as a “C3” hereinafter) . The difference may be an absolute value of a scalar or module value of a vector if direction of the target is detected too. The new detected path means the path is detected first time, and the history detected path means the path is detected at least twice.

[0073] For example, the threshold time may be predefined or configured by the first device 110. The first device 110 may compare a time delay difference between the first time delay of the new detected path corresponding to the received sensing signal and the second time delay of the history detected path and the threshold time. If the time delay difference between the first time delay and the second time delay is larger than the threshold time, the C2 is satisfied. Otherwise, the C2 is not satisfied.

[0074] In another embodiment, the threshold speed may be predefined or configured. The first device 110 may compare the difference between the first speed of the new detected path corresponding to the received sensing signal and the second speed of the history detected path and the threshold speed. If the difference between the first speed and the second speed is larger than the threshold speed, the C3 is satisfied. Otherwise, the C3 is not satisfied.

[0075] As described above, One or any combination of the first conditions may be used to determine whether the target is a new target in the sensing area. For example, the first condition may include C1, C2, C3, or include (C1 and C2) or include (C1 and C3) .

[0076] In some example embodiments, the target may be detected based on the first condition being satisfied for a number of times during a time duration, the number being greater than or equal to a threshold number. In some example embodiments, the target may be detected based on the first condition being satisfied for a number of times in a specified number of times, the number being greater than or equal to a threshold number. The specified number of times is a predefined number of times of detections. A threshold number (e.g., M1) and a specified number of times (e.g., M0) may be predefined, or configured, where M0>=M1. Time duration for M0 times is not longer than a predefined / preconfigured value. For example, M1=7, M0=10. In other words, (C1 and C2) or (C1 and C3) are satisfied 7 times in 10 consecutive times detection.

[0077] FIG. 4 illustrates a flowchart of a process 400 for detecting a target according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. The process 400 may be implemented at the first device 110 or any other suitable device.

[0078] At block 410, the first device 110 may perform a sensing signal scanning and detecting. For example, the first device 110 may transmit at least one sensing signal. The at least one sensing signal may be detected by the Rx sensing node. The Rx node may transmit the detected or measured result to the first device 110.

[0079] At block 420, the first device 110 determines if a new path / sensing signal is detected. If the first condition associated with target sensing is satisfied, a new path / sensing signal may be detected. Otherwise, the sensing signal scanning and detecting may be continued.

[0080] At block 430, the first device 110 may trigger / initial the target confirmation to confirm whether the target is a new target in the sensing area. The first device 110 may record the number of detections and the number of times the corresponding path / sensing signal is detected. Where, the number of detections is set to variable j and the initial value of variable j is 0, and the number of times the corresponding path / sensing signal is detected is set to a variable i and the initial value of the variable i is 0. In the example of FIG. 4, the first / initial detection shown in 410 and 420 isn’ t included in the M1 times detection.

[0081] At block 440, the first device 110 performs a sensing signal scanning and detecting again.

[0082] At block 450, the first device 110 determines if the corresponding path / sensing signal is detected. If the corresponding path / sensing signal is detected, at block 452, the variable j is added 1 and the variable i is added 1. At block 460, the first device 110 compares the variable i and the threshold number M1, and compares the variable j and the specified number of times M0. If i < M1 and j <=M0, the first device 110 keeps sensing signal scanning and detecting. If j >=M0 and i<M1, at block 490, the first device 110 may confirm the new target detection is failure. If i = M1 and j <=M0, at block 480, the first device 110 may confirm the target is a new target detected in the sensing area. If i = M1 and j>M0, at block 490, the first device 110 may confirm the new target detection is failure.

[0083] Otherwise, if at block 450, the corresponding path / sensing signal is not detected, at block 454, the variable j is added by 1. At block 470, the first device 110 compares the variable j and the threshold number M0. If j is less than M0, the first device 110 keeps sensing signal scanning and detecting. If j is larger than or equal to M0, at block 490, the first device 110 may confirm the new target detection is failure.

[0084] FIG. 5 illustrates a flowchart of another process 500 of detecting a target according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. The process 500 may be implemented by the first device 110 or any other suitable device.

[0085] At block 510, the first device 510 may perform a sensing signal scanning and detecting. For example, the first device 110 may transmit at least one sensing signal. The at least one sensing signal may be detected by the Rx sensing node. The Rx node may transmit the detected or measured result to the first device 110.

[0086] At block 520, the first device 110 determines if a new path / sensing signal is detected. If the first condition associated with target sensing is satisfied, a new path / sensing signal may be detected. Otherwise, the first device 110 may repeat the block 510.

[0087] At block 530, the first device 110 may trigger / initial the target confirmation to confirm whether the target is a new target in the sensing area. The first device 110 records the number of detections and the number of times the corresponding path / sensing signal is detected. Where, the number of detections is set to variable j and the initial value of variable j is 1, and the number of times the corresponding path / sensing signal is detected is set to variable i and the initial value of the variable i is 1. The first / initial detection shown in 510 and 520 is included in the M1 times detection in the example of FIG. 5.

[0088] At block 540, the first device 510 performs the sensing signal scanning and detecting.

[0089] At block 550, the first device 110 determines if the corresponding path / sensing signal is detected. If the corresponding path / sensing signal is detected, at block 552, the variable j is added 1 and the variable i is added 1. At block 560, the first device 110 compares the variable i and the threshold number M1, and compares the variable j and the specified number of times M0. If i < M1 and j <=M0, the first device 110 keeps sensing signal scanning and detecting. If j >=M0 and i<M1, at block 590, the first device 110 may confirm the new target detection is failure. If i = M1 and j <=M0, at block 580, the first device 110 may confirm the target is a new target detected in the sensing area. If j=M1 and j>M0, at block 590, the first device 110 may confirm the new target detection is failure.

[0090] Otherwise, if the corresponding path / sensing signal is not detected, at block 554, the variable j is added 1. At block 570, the first device 110 compares the variable j and the threshold number M0. If j is less than M0, the first device 110 keeps sensing signal scanning and detecting. If j is larger than or equal to M0, at block 590, the first device 110 may confirm the new target detection is failure.

[0091] In some example embodiments, the second condition comprises that a difference between a predicted value of a parameter of the target and an estimated or sensed value of the parameter is less than or equal to a first threshold, the parameter comprising at least one of: a location of the target, an arrival time at a reference point of the target, or a speed of the target. The predicated value of a parameter may be determined according to the history sensing results of time t0-k, k>=1, before receiving the sensing measurements of time t0; and the estimated or sensed value of the parameter may be the sensing result determined according to the sensing measurements of time t0.

[0092] In some example embodiments, the first device 110 may predict a location of the target, an arrival time at a reference point of the target, or a speed of the target based on history measurements or sensing results of the target. In some embodiments, the measurement or sensing result of the target is detected / determined with a correlation among at least two detections. Meanwhile the first device 110 will track the target to predict a location of the target, an arrival time at a reference point of the target, or a speed of the target.

[0093] In some example embodiments, the target is tracked based on the second condition being satisfied for a first number of times in a second number of consecutive times and a maximum difference between the predicted value and the estimated or sensed value in the second number of consecutive times is less than or equal to a second threshold, wherein the first number being larger than or equal to a threshold number, the second number being larger than or equal to the first number, and the second threshold being larger than the first threshold.

[0094] In some example embodiments, the second condition comprises that the location difference between the detected one and the predicted one is less than or equal to a first threshold Q0 (referred to as a “C4” hereinafter) . If the location difference between the detected one and the predicted one is less than or equal to Q0, the C4 is satisfied. Otherwise, the C4 is not satisfied.

[0095] In some example embodiments, if the C4 is satisfied N1 times in N0 consecutive times detection / tracking, and the location difference between the predicted one and the detected for any one of the N0 detections is no larger than a predefined / preconfigured value Q1.

[0096] In some example embodiments, C4 is satisfied N1 times in N0 consecutive times detection / tracking, and the location difference between the predicted one and the detected / estimated for any one of the N0 detection is not larger than a predefined / preconfigured value Q1, wherein N0>=N1. An example is shown in FIG. 6 for N0=5, and N1=4. As shown, the difference between the first predicted point and first detected point is larger than Q0 and less than Q1. The difference between the third predicted point and third detected point is larger than Q1. The difference for the other pair of predicted and detected points is less than Q0. After the 8th prediction and detection, then target is seen as being tracked successfully.

[0097] In some example embodiments, if the C4 is satisfied N1 times in N0 consecutive times detection / tracking, and the location difference between the predicted one and the detected for any one of the N0 detection is no larger than a predefined / preconfigured value Q1, wherein N0>=N1, Q1>=Q0, the first device 110 may confirm the target is seen as being tracked successfully.

[0098] An example is shown in FIG. 6 for N0=5, and N1=4. As shown, the distance between the first predicted point and the first detected point is relatively long. The location difference between the first predicted and first detected points is larger than Q0 and less than Q1. The distance between the third predicted point and the third detected point is very long, such as larger than Q1. The distance between the other pair of predicted and detected points is close. For example, the difference for the other pair of predicted and detected points is less than Q0. After the 8th prediction and detection, the C4 is satisfied 5 times in 5 consecutive times detection / tracking and difference between the predicted one and the detected for any one of the 5 detections (4~8) is not larger than a predefined / preconfigured value Q1, and difference between the predicated one and the detected one for 5 of the 5 detections (4~8) is less than a predefined / preconfigured value Q0, then the target may be tracked successfully by the first device 110. In some embodiments, if the distance between the eighth predicted and detected points is a little larger than Q0 and less than Q1, or a difference between one of the 4th –8th predicted and detected points is a little larger than Q0 and less than Q1, the first device 110 may confirm the target is seen as being tracked successfully, based on the difference between the predicated one and the detected one for 4 of the 5 detections is less than a predefined / preconfigured value Q0.

[0099] In some example embodiments, the third condition comprises that the location difference between the detected one and the predicted one is larger than a third threshold Q3 (referred to as a “C5” hereinafter) . If the location difference between the detected one and the predicted one is larger than the third threshold Q3, the C5 is satisfied. Otherwise, the C5 is not satisfied. The third threshold Q3 may be larger than Q0 or Q1.

[0100] In some example embodiments, if the C5 is satisfied N3 times in N2 consecutive times detection / tracking, wherein N2>=N3, N3 >= N1 and abs (N2-N0) is less than a predefined value, the first device 110 may confirm the target is loss tracking. For example, for N0=5, N1=4, N2=5 and N3=4. If after the 5th prediction and detection, the C5 is satisfied 4 times in 5 consecutive times detection / tracking, then the first device 110 may confirm that the tracking of the target is lost or failed. Further, if tracking lost or failure of the target is confirmed, then re-tracking procedure similar as that shown in Fig. 6 may be triggered by the first device 110. As used herein, loss tracking of a target means that the target is successfully tracked then the tracking of the target is lost. Failure of tracking of a target means that the tracking status of the target changes from successfully tracking to a failure of tracking.

[0101] Alternatively, the third condition may be that the location difference between the detected one and the predicted one is less than or equal to a threshold Q4 (referred to as a “C5’ ” hereinafter) . If the location difference between the detected one and the predicted one is less than the threshold Q4, the C5’ is satisfied. Otherwise, the C5’ is not satisfied. The threshold Q4 may be larger than or equal to Q0. In some example embodiments, if the C5’ is satisfied N8 times in N9 consecutive times detection / tracking, where N9>=N8, N8 <= N1 and N2<=N0, the first device 110 may confirm the target is loss tracking. If tracking failure or lost of the target is confirmed, then re-tracking procedure similar as that shown in Fig. 6 may be triggered by the first device 110.

[0102] In some example embodiments, the fourth condition for target leaving the sensing area may include at least one of: that a distance between the target and an edge of the sensing area is less than a first threshold value D1 (referred to as a “C6” hereinafter) , or that a distance between the target and the edge of the sensing area in a time duration is reduced and a reduced distance is larger than a second threshold value D2 (referred to as a “C7” hereinafter) .

[0103] In some example embodiments, if the distance is less than D1, the C6 is satisfied. Otherwise, the C6 is not satisfied. If the distance is reduced and a reduced distance is larger than D2, the C7 is satisfied. Otherwise, the C7 is not satisfied, wherein the reduced distance may be determined based on sensing results of two consecutive detections.

[0104] In some example embodiments, the target is leaving the sensing area based on the fourth condition being satisfied for a fifth number of consecutive times. In some example embodiments, if the C6 and / or C7 is satisfied N4 times in N5 consecutive times detection / tracking and N5>=N4, the first device 110 may confirm the target is leaving the sensing area.

[0105] In an embodiment, the distance between a target and an edge of the sensing area is determined based on the location of the target and an intersection point of the sensing area. In an embodiment, an intersection point may be detected or estimated. The intersection point may refer to a point which is the intersection point of a predicted trajectory of target and the outlying of sensing area. The predicated trajectory herein may be determined according to the history sensing results / data / information (such as location, speed, moving direction, road information prior known, route information predefine) .

[0106] An example is shown in FIG. 7 for N5=5, and N4=3. As shown, the Tx sensing node 710 and the Rx sensing node 720 may provide a sensing area 702. An intersection point 730 may be defined or estimated according to the history sensing results. After the 5th prediction and detection, the C6 is satisfied 3 times in 5 consecutive times detection / tracking, then the target may be leaving the sensing area. That is, if C6 is satisfied 3 times in 5 consecutive times detection / tracking, the first device 110 such as the Tx sensing node 710 may predict that the corresponding target is leaving the sensing area 702. That is, the moving trend of the target is far away from the sensing coverage.

[0107] In some example embodiments, the sensing measurement information comprise at least one of: sensing measurements of at least one sensing signal, the sensing measurements being from at least one sensing node, sensing information from at least one type of sensor associated with the at least one target, or pre-shared information of a plurality of targets in the sensing area.

[0108] In some example embodiments, the sensing measurements being from at least one sensing node may include video, (thermal) image, RADAR, LIDAR and IMU.

[0109] In some example embodiments, the sensing measurements from the at least one sensing node comprises corresponding type of a target or environment of the sensing measurements, and / or the pre-shared information comprises a plurality of routes of the plurality of targets and a plurality of target types of the plurality of targets.

[0110] In some example embodiments, the first device110 may determine the number of the at least one target based on the sensing measurement information. The first device 110 may associate the sensing measurement information with the at least one target. The determined number of the at least one target may be a coarse or general number of targets. The number of targets may be less than or equal to a maximum number. The maximum number of targets may be defined for limit the detected / tracked / sensed targets. The maximum number may be defined by considering the type of the targets, sensing overhead of the targets, density of the targets, number of sensing nodes, and communication service. It is to be understood that the first device 110 may determine the number of targets by using any suitable calculation approach or prediction method either currently known or to be developed in the future. Scope of the present disclosure is not limited here.

[0111] In some example embodiments, the first device110 may perform identity confirmation and mapping for targets first. In some example embodiments, the first device110 may detect multiple points, and some points of the multiple points may be related to same target. By the trajectory detection procedure, fusion the detection points / sensing measurements / results in multiple times via tracking algorithm. The first device110 fusion the detection points / sensing measurements / results based on one or more of the following: moving directions, moving speeds, moving accelerates and moving modes (rectilinear or curvilinear motion, etc. ) . It is to be understood that the first device 110 may identify the targets and mapping the targets by any suitable methods or techniques either currently known or to be developed in the future. Scope of the present disclosure is not limited here.

[0112] In some example embodiments, the sensing signal and / or reported sensing measurements may be configured / updated according to the tracking procedure. If the difference of moving direction for the two or more targets / trajectories is larger than a threshold. Location related sensing signal / measurements of the target is sufficient for distinguishing targets.

[0113] An example is shown in FIG. 8, where illustrates several trajectories in the sensing area 702 of the Tx sensing node 710 and the Rx sensing node 720. In the example, the location sensing measurements / results of five targets at the first time k are sticky with each other, and the targets can’ t be identified via the single measurements.

[0114] In the example, based on the sensing measurements / results of the second time k+1, multiple trajectories (25 trajectories in the example) are assumed with mapping the sensing measurements / results of time k and k+1 correspondingly. With the sensing measurements / results at the third time k+2, only five trajectories are found, as shown in L1, L2, L3, L4, and L5 the others doesn’ t meet the running / moving model with the three times sensing measurements / results.

[0115] In the example, L1 and L5 are the two trajectories with the difference between the moving directions being larger than a threshold, after the three times measurements fusion, the first device 110 may distinguish targets corresponding to these two trajectories based on the location related sensing signal / measurements in the further detections, such as the fourth time k+3.

[0116] In the example, L1 and L2 are the two trajectories which have similar moving direction and similar location for each sensing measurements / results. Therefore, based on the detected points in L1 and the detected points in L2, the first device110 may distinguish the corresponding targets based on speed / accelerate / angular velocity related sensing signal / measurements in the further detections.

[0117] As shown in FIG. 8, the first device110 may distinguish the detected points in a trajectory and the detected points in another trajectory based on speed and / or accelerate related sensing signal / measurements. For example, the first device110 may distinguish the detected points in L3 and the detected points in L4 based on angular velocity related sensing signal / measurements, which is one kind of moving model.

[0118] In some example embodiments, Rx sensing node may provide assist information via the correlation between the new measurements and the history measurements. Based on the correlation, the first device may fusion the detected points in several times more efficiently. The correlation means the probability of the new measurements and the history measurement are from a same target. The size of correlation matrix may be configured by Tx sensing node / SF / LMF, and the correlation index as shown in Table 1 below. Table 1

[0119] The parameters in Table 1 are defined as follows: Ik, id: the index of measurements corresponding to the k-th sensing occasion for  the id-th correlation, wherein the measurement may be ordered according to delay, or ordered according to the RSRP / RSRQ of the associated path (s) . Vc, id, k, k-l: the id-th correlation of the measurements of the sensing occasion #k  and #k-l. The number or columns may be indicated directly. The number of row may be indicated directly, or determined according to a  correlation threshold (s) . Thresholds for different column may be different, and the threshold may  decrease with the increased time gap of the two sensing occasions. The correlation of all the column in a row may be no less than the threshold (s) ,  or any one correlation of the all the column in a row may be no less than the threshold (s) .

[0120] The first device 110 determines (330) an identification result of the at least one target in the sensing area based on the at least one operation and sensing measurement information associated with the at least one target. The first device 110 may compare the current target with detected targets based on the at least one operation and sensing measurement information associated with the at least one target. The first device 110 may thus obtain the identification result about whether the current target is a new detected target. For example, the first device 110 may derive more accurate information about targets in the sensing area, such as the number and distribution of targets based on the initial identification result with a coarse number of targets.

[0121] The first device 110 transmits (340) to the second device 120, the identification result of the at least one target (e.g. the third device 130) . The second device 120 may refer to receiving, detecting, receiving or measuring the forwards, transmitted, reflected, refracted or processed sensing signal from the first device 110. In some embodiments, the first device 110 transmits (340) the identification result to the second device 120, the third device 130 and / or the fourth device 140, or a third-party management device communicating with the second device 120, third device 130 or the fourth device 140.

[0122] It is to be understood that the performing (320) of the at least one operation and the determining (330) the identification result may be applied in combination, or separately. The applying sequence of the performing (320) of the at least one operation and the determining (330) the identification result may be varied. In some embodiments, the at least one operation performed (320) by the first device 110 may include the beam configuration. For example, the first device may configure at least one of: a beam width of a transmitting sensing node, or a beam width of a receiving sensing node based on the initial identification result determined by the first device 110 or received from a further sensing node.

[0123] In some embodiments, based on the initial / coarse / estimated number of targets or the density of the targets in the sensing area, and / or the distance (s) between the targets and the Tx / Rx sensing node, the first device 110 may adjust the beam width of Tx / Rx sensing node. For example, for a lower density or shorter distance, a wider beam width may be configured. For a higher density or longer distance, a narrower beam width may be configured. FIG. 9 illustrates a schematic diagram for beam configuration according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown, a beam 910 may be configured for the Tx sensing node and a beam 920 may be configured for the Rx sensing node for a lower target density or a shorter target distance. By contrast, a beam 910 may be configured for the Tx sensing node and a beam 922 may be configured for the Rx sensing node for a higher target density or a longer target distance. The beam changing may not or may avoid influence the communication between targets and Tx / Rx sensing node, or the communication between Tx and Rx sensing nodes, if the targets have the related communication capability.

[0124] The initial identification result such as the coarse or general number of targets, the density of targets, or the distances of the targets may be predicted and indicated to the Tx sensing node or indicated to the node for sensing resource. For example, the initial identification result may be transmitted from SF or LFM to the Tx / Rx sensing node, or from the sensing control node to Tx / Rx sensing node, or from the Tx sensing node to the Rx sensing node. The Tx and Rx sensing nodes may perform the sensing based on the configured beam width. That is, updated sensing measurements information may be obtained with the configured beams. With the updated measurements information, the targets may be further distinguished. In this way, the identification result or the identifying of the targets may be further improved.

[0125] In another example, with sensing measurements / results based on the wider beam width such as beam 910 for Tx sensing node and beam 920 for Rx sensing node, a coarse / initial number of targets may be determined, for example, 4. Then based on the coarse number of targets, narrower beams such as beam 912 for Tx sensing node, beam 922 for Rx sensing node, are chosen for further sensing operation. With the narrower beams, 5 targets are identified due to the strongest path for the five targets are received via different narrow beam pairs.

[0126] In some embodiments, the at least one operation performed (320) by the first device 110 may include the sensing signal configuration. For example, the first device may configure at least one of: a band width of the sensing signal, or a subcarrier spacing of the sensing signal, or a time density of the sensing signal, or a frequency density of the sensing signal. Higher density of the targets, larger bandwidth; higher density of the targets, larger subcarrier spacing or less time gap during the symbols for the sensing signal.

[0127] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the sensing signal configuration may indicate to transmit a first sensing signal for a first target. The first sensing signal is used to carry flag information associated with the first target by the first target. For example, the first sensing signal may indicate the target to carry the flag information by the reflected, or refracted sensing signal. That is, the Tx sensing node may transmit a special (sensing) signal used for target to add the flag information. The special sensing signal may be shared among multiple targets. The first sensing signal may be located at front of a further sensing signal. For example, the special sensing signal may be located at front of a normal sensing signal.

[0128] Format of the special sensing signal may be predefined / preconfigured. In some embodiments, the first sensing signal may include a first part for detection the sensing signal for carrying flag information and a second part for carrying the flag information for the first target. That is, the special sensing signal may include two parts: one used for special sensing signal detection, and one part used for flag information adding and carrying. The special sensing signal may be common for multiple targets. The special sensing signal may be different for normal sensing signal associated with different measurements type.

[0129] The target may add its identity information on the reflected / refracted / forwarded signal when detected the special sensing signal. The added identity related information may be independent among targets. The added identity related information may be determined by considering the format of the detected sensing signal.

[0130] In some embodiments, Rx sensing node receives configuration for the special signal and normal sensing signal, derives the sensing signal / path from different targets according to the special signal, and reports the measurements and the related target’s identity information carried by the related path (s) . Tx sensing node or LMF / SF may confirm the detailed targets information based on the previous measurements received in multiple sensing occasions.

[0131] In some embodiments, the at least one operation may include the state configuration. For example, the first device 110 may configure a state or attitude of a target of the at least one target. In some embodiments, the first device 110 may receive, from the second device 120, at least one of: a message indicating a quality of a received sensing signal, including the one being lower than a threshold, or a measurement difference related to the target or a same path. The measurement difference includes a difference between a first measurement at a first time instance before configuring the state or attitude and a second measurement at a second time instance after configuring the state or attitude. In some embodiments, the first device 110 may transmit, to the second device 120, an indication of a path associated with the target, the path being based on the configured state or attitude. The second measurement may be determined based on the indication of the path.

[0132] In other words, the first device 110 may adjust the targets state / attitude if it’s possible, then the measurements variance related to the targets who changes state / attitude will be observed. In some embodiments, the first device and / or the second device may be changed. Then the measurements related to a same target with different sensing node pairs will be observed. The first device 110 may indicate the measurements classification to the Rx sensing node. For example, the information of the paths may belongs to a same target. The Rx sensing node reports the measurement variance information, for example, according to the indication.

[0133] In some embodiments, if the new measurement corresponding to the path isn’ t detected, a special value being null will be reported, which may also be the characteristic of a target. For example, zero point of the RSRP or radio cross-section (RCS) pattern of the target, or random characteristic in multiple angles during multiple times (applicable for stable target) may be reported. Alternatively, a variance or offset or a new determined one will be reported with a path information. By comparing measurements from different angles with the predefined RSRP pattern, or by comparing the statistic measurements based on the random sensing measurements from different angle different time with the predefined RCS model, targets may be distinguished.

[0134] In some embodiments, the identity confirmation and mapping may be performed. Accuracy of the sensing results may be high than the coarse one. The error between the confirmed number and real / actual number of targets may be S1, and S1 is less than the error between the coarse number and the real or actual number of targets (referred to as S0) .

[0135] Mapping between the confirmed target information and measurements of the sensing node may be indicated to the Tx / Rx sensing node. For example, the confirmed information may be indicated to the Tx / Rx sensing nodes, even the target if it has the communication capability. The information may be indicated per sensing node, or per pair of sensing nodes. Coverage area may be defined per pair of sensing node (Tx) .

[0136] The confirmed information may include the number of targets in the sensing coverage area. For example, the confirmed information may include at least one of {Location, target index / identity, moving direction, speed, the related path information…} of each target in the sensing coverage area served by a Tx sensing node and a Rx sensing node.

[0137] The candidate target for the sensing coverage may be also indicated. For example, the confirmed information may include the number of candidate targets, and {Location, time} to arrive for the candidate targets.

[0138] The measurements to be reported after indication may be determined based on the indication. The measurements of multiple paths reflected by a same target may be fused.

[0139] Various embodiments regarding the target identifying and reporting for ISAC have been described. With these embodiments, the plurality of targets in the sensing area can be identified. The identification of the targets may be used to maximize the sensing resource allocation for the sensing coverage. The ISAC performance can thus be enhanced.

[0140] In some situations, a plurality of targets are located in a sensing area of a Tx sensing node and / or an Rx sensing node. A collision among these targets may occur.

[0141] In order to solve at least part of the above problems or other potential problems, another solution on collision handling is proposed. According to example embodiments, a first device (such as a Tx sensing node) receives sensing information including a sensing measurement result based on a sensing signal and / or sensing data from at least one sensor. The first device determines a collision probability based on the sensing information. The first device transmits, to a second device such as a target to be involved in a predicted collision, collision information based on the collision probability. The collision information includes at least one of: an indication of a collision, a predicted time of the collision, a predicted location of the collision, a predicted direction or angle of the collision, information of a further device associated with the collision, or a resource for handling of the collision.

[0142] In this manner, the first device may provide the predicted collision information to the target involved in the predicted collision. The target may handle the collision based on the received collision information. In this way, the collision may be prevented or handled.

[0143] FIG. 10 illustrates a signaling flow 1000 for collision handling in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The signaling flow 1000 involves a first device 1001 and a second device 1002. In some embodiments, the first device 1001 may be implemented as the first device 110 in FIG. 1 such as the Tx sensing node or an Rx sensing node or SF or LMF. Alternatively, the first device 1001 may be implemented as a control node such as the fourth device 140. The second device 1002 may be implemented as a target such as the third device 130 in FIG. 1, or a device or node handling the collision.

[0144] As shown, in the signaling flow 1000, the first device 1001 receives (1010) sensing information including at least one of: a sensing measurement result based on a sensing signal, or sensing data from at least one sensor. For example, an Rx sensing node may transmit the sensing measurement result based on the sensing signal to the first device 1001. The sensing signal may be transmitted from the first device 1001 to the second device 1002, and the second device 1002 may reflect / refract the sensing signal to the Rx sensing node, then sensing measurements may be determined at the Rx sensing node and be transmitted back to the first device 1001. The second device 1002 may transmit the sensing data of at least one sensor on the second device 1002 to the first device 1001. The at least one sensor may be RADAR, LiDAR, Laser, inertial measurement unit (IMU) , barometer, thermal images, audio, videos, and the like.

[0145] The first device 1001 determines (1020) a collision probability based on the sensing information. For example, the predicted probability may be determined based on the one reported by targets based on sensing data from other sensors installed on the targets, and / or the one reported by Rx sensing node based on sensing signal. In an embodiment, the first device 1001 may perform the at least one operation described with respect to FIG. 3 to identify a plurality of targets in a sensing area of the first device 1001. The first device 1001 may perform a target trajectory tracking for the plurality of targets and predict the collision probability based on the trajectory tracking. It is to be understood that the first device 1001 may predict or estimate the collision probability using any suitable calculation either currently known or to be developed in the future. Embodiments of the present disclosure may not be limited here.

[0146] Based on the collision probability, the first device (1001) transmits (1030) , to the second device such as a target to be involved in the predicted collision, collision information (also referred to as a collision warning) . The collision information includes at least one of: an indication of a collision, a predicted time of the collision, a predicted location of the collision, a predicted direction or angle of the collision, information of a further device associated with the collision, or a resource for handling of the collision. As used herein, the further device may be referred to as another device or another target or a further target in the collision. The second device and the further device may involve in the predicted collision. That is, the second device and the further device are two targets in the predicted collision. In some embodiments, information of the second device may optionally be included in the collision information. In some embodiments, the information of the further device comprises at least one of: a type of the further device, a size of the further device, a moving direction of the further device, a moving speed of the further device, a location of the further device, a distance between the location of the further device and a predicted location of the collision, or an index of the further device. The resource for handling of the collision may be used for communication between the two targets (such as, the second device and the further device) of the predicted collision. That is, the predicted probability may be indicated to the target (such as the second device or the further device) or collision handling node directly.

[0147] In some embodiments, if the collision probability in a first time duration is greater than or equal to a first threshold, the first device 1001 may provide the collision information. For example, if the predicted collision probability in Xms is larger than a%, the collision information may be provided by the first device 1001, X and a being predefined or configured positive value. Alternatively, in some embodiments, if the collision probability within a first distance is greater than or equal to a second threshold, the first device 1001 may provide the collision information. For example, if the predicted collision probability in Ym is larger than b%, the collision information may be provided by the first device 1001, Y and b being predefined or configured positive value. The length of the first time duration, the first threshold, and / or the second threshold may be predefined or configured. In some embodiments, may be only the distance or time from the present location to the predicated collision location being used for collision indication. For example, if the distance from the present location to the predicated collision location is less than Y0, or if the time from the present time to the predicated collision time is less than X0, the collision information may be provided by the first device 1001.

[0148] In some embodiments, at least one of a period for collision monitoring, a frequency for collision monitoring or a resource for collision monitoring may be allocated based on at least one of: the collision probability, a distance between a predicted collision point and a sensing node, a time between the present time and the collision time corresponding to the collision point, or a priority of a service of a sensing target. In an embodiment, if the predicted collision probability is higher or if the predicted distance / time is shorter, a higher monitoring frequency, a smaller period and more resource may be allocated. In another embodiment, if the predicted collision probability is lower or if the predicted distance / time is longer, a lower monitoring frequency, a smaller period and less resource may be allocated. In a further embodiment, for a service with a higher importance or priority, a higher monitoring frequency, a smaller period and more resource may be allocated.

[0149] In response to receiving the collision information, the second device 1002 performs (1040) an operation for collision handling based on the collision information. For example, the second device 1002 may adjust a moving state of the second device 1002 or stop and wait for a time duration before continuing a trajectory to avoid the collision.

[0150] In some embodiments, the second device 1002 may determine whether a first priority of the second device 1002 is higher than or equal to a second priority of another target associated with the collision. If the first priority is lower than the second priority, the second device 1002 may adjust a moving state of the second device 1002 or stop and wait for a time duration before continuing a trajectory. The moving state of the second device 1002 may be a moving direction, a moving speed, a moving angular speed, or the like. The time duration for stopping and waiting (also referred to as a “wait time duration” ) may be estimated by the second device 1002, or may be configured by the first device 1001. In some embodiments, the time duration for stopping and waiting for the collision handling may be determined via video sensor. If the time duration is estimated by the second device 1002, the second device 1002 may report the time duration to the first device 1001. The time duration may be indicated by the sensing node or control node of the target. The first device 1001 may thus know an updated arrival time of the second device 1002. The time duration may be communicated between the two targets of the collision directly. Otherwise, if the first priority is higher than or equal to the second priority, the second device 1002 may maintain a trajectory of the second device 1002.

[0151] In some embodiments, the priority may be represented by a priority value, such as 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... In an embodiment, a lower value represents a higher priority. For example, the priority value 0 represents a highest priority. In another embodiment, a lower priority value represents a lower priority. The priority or priority value of a target may be determined by a control node of the target, or a service provider. The priority or priority value of a target may be determined by SF or LMF. The priority or priority value of a target may be indicated by the SF, LMF, the sensing node or the control node.

[0152] In some embodiments, the first priority of the second device 1002 and the second priority of a further device (also referred to as another target or a further target) associated with the collision may be exchanged. For example, the second device 1001 may transmit the first priority of the second device 1002 to the further device associated with the collision. Alternatively, or in addition, the second device 1002 may receive, from the further device, the second priority of the further device. The exchange of the first and second priority may be via sidelink communication. For example, if both targets in the predicted collision have sidelink communication capability, which may be reported by the targets, the priority information may be exchanged via sidelink communication on configured resource (s) for collision handling.

[0153] In some embodiments, the transmission of the first priority and / or the second priority may be via an on-off signal, a discontinuous reception (DRX) signal, and / or a light installed on the second device 1002 or the further device.

[0154] By way of example, the second device 1002 may control, based on a light pattern for priority, at least one of: on or off of the light, or color of the light. Assuming the collision distance is near enough to detect the light information, the light on-off may be controlled according to on-off patterns defined for priority, and / or the color of light may be controlled. Different colors may represent different priorities. The light controlling may be with a large time delay. In such case, before controlling the target after the priority exchange or comparison, both the targets in the predicted collision may stop until determine the moving state according to the compared result.

[0155] In some embodiments, if the further target associated with the collision does not have a capability of communication with the second device 1002 or does not have a capability of light control, or no resource is allocated for collision handling of the two targets, the second device 1002 may adjust a moving state of the second device or stop and wait for a time duration before continuing a trajectory. For example, if another collision target type is an animal or black UAV, the second device 1002 may adjust the moving state of the second device or stop and wait for the time duration before continuing a trajectory. The time duration for stopping and waiting may be estimated by the second device 1002, or may be configured by the first device 1001, or may be determined randomly according to the time range configured by the first device 1001. If the time duration is estimated or randomly determined by the second device 1002, the second device 1002 may report the time duration to the first device 1001. The first device 1001 may thus know an updated arrival time of the second device 1002. Otherwise, if the first priority is higher than or equal to the second priority, the second device 1002 may maintain a trajectory of the second device 1002.

[0156] In this way, the collision may be handled. In some embodiments, the second device 1002 may transmit, to the first device 1001, a collision handling result. The first device 1001 may receive the collision handling result. The collision handling result may indicate at least one of: a maintained or updated trajectory or route of a further device associated with the collision, or updated planned location or arrival time information of the collision. The planned location or arrival time information may be an estimated location or arrival time information in the future.

[0157] In some embodiments, the second device 1002 may transmit, to the first device 1001, a capability related to collision handling. The first device 1001 may receive the capability. By way of example, the capability may include at least one of: a capability of communication with a further target, a capability of light control, or light state information associated with at least one state of a target, or a light state switching delay.

[0158] Several embodiments regarding collision handling have been described. With these embodiments, the collision between targets may be avoided. The sensing of the targets can thus be enhanced. It is to be understood that the signaling flow 300 and the signaling flow 1000 may be applied separately, or in any combination. With embodiments of the signaling flow 300 and the signaling flow 1000, the sensing of the target may be enhanced.
