Abstract
Description
[0001] DESCRIPTION
[0002] A PAINT PALETTE ATTACHABLE TO A CANVAS
[0003] Technical Field
[0004] The invention relates to a paint palette that features easy installation, is attachable to a canvas, is capable of holding paint brushes and auxiliary liquid containers, has a removable surface, and has a 90-degree rotation angle.
[0005] Prior Art
[0006] Paint palettes are used for the purpose of carrying and mixing paints to be applied to the painting surface. In professional use, paint palettes generally feature either a fixed design with a large surface or a portable, handheld design. While fixed or portable designs with large surfaces create an advantage in terms of surface area usage, they are often not ergonomic. Portable, handheld paint palettes, although practical, have a small surface and physically strain the artist as the work duration progresses.
[0007] Paint palettes available on the market are fixed or modular designs independent of the painting surface. Fixed palettes offer artists large areas for mixing and paint storage, but have disadvantages due to a lack of mobility and being distant from the painting surface. Handheld paint palettes, on the other hand, offer advantages in terms of mobility and proximity to the painting surface, but have disadvantages regarding paint mixing, storage, and imposing a physical burden on the artist.
[0008] The patent document numbered CN109572310A discloses a multifunctional oil paint palette. The related design is not directly related to a paint palette but to a carrier platform for the paint palette and painting materials. It is believed that the fixation feature of the related design is intended for use on drawing plates standing at a horizontal angle (designed to rest on top of the board). When the design's drawings and descriptions are examined, the location where the connection apparatus is to be fixed is not disclosed. The related design mentions a section where paint brushes can be placed horizontally. Placing the paint brushes side by side carries the risk of the paint pigments on the brush tips intermixing. Furthermore, the paint containers in the related design are separated and limited in number. Designs of this kind are suitable for watercolor and gouache painting. However, it does not have sufficient mixing surface area for oil painting work.
[0009] The utility model document numbered CN216443398U discloses a ratio palette for artistic design. The related design has a limited number of paint containers and a brush clamping section. It lacks a paint mixing area. The related design has a plastic carrying module which connects the palette surface to the clamping apparatus and has a 90-degree rotation angle. This design, by contacting the front surface of the canvas, both covers the working area and causes deformations on the front surface.
[0010] The utility model document numbered CN220220249U discloses a ratio palette. The related design consists of paint, a water container, paint protection covers, and a brush holder. In the palette, the paint mixing section and the paint container are the same sections. Therefore, there is no separate paint mixing section. The related design includes a module for securing the paint palette to a surface, but this module can be used on horizontal areas such as a table, and not on vertical areas such as a canvas. Furthermore, it lacks a feature that can angle the paint palette.
[0011] In view of the existing works in the prior art, the need arise for the development of the paint palette which is the subject matter of the invention, featuring easy installation, being attachable to a canvas, being capable of holding paint brushes and auxiliary liquid containers, having a removable surface, and having a 90- degree rotation angle.
[0012] Objectives of the Invention
[0013] The object of this invention is to develop a paint palette that is easy to install, attachable to a canvas, capable of holding paint brushes and auxiliary liquid containers, has a removable surface, and has a 90-degree rotation angle. Another object of the invention is to develop a paint palette in which both the clamping and angulation processes can be performed with a single clamping lever.
[0014] Another object of the invention is to develop a paint palette that optimizes the artists' workflow, enabling them to work more comfortably and effectively.

[0041] An exemplary embodiment of the paint palette which is the subject matter of the invention is described below.
[0042] Fixation of the Palette to the Canvas:
[0043] The clamping apparatus (1) is used to fix the palette to the canvas frame. The clamping apparatus (1) is positioned on the edges of the canvas, and the clamping process is performed via the bolts (3). This clamping process is easily executed with the rotation arm (16). This step ensures that the palette remains stable, preventing it from sliding during use.
[0044] Adjustment of the Angle:
[0045] After the paint palette is secured to the canvas, the support body (5) is brought to a specific angle, using the transport module (4) and by means of the rotation arm (16), to suit the working position. The transport module (4) allows the palette an angular movement capability of up to 90 degrees, thereby enabling the user to adjust the position of the paint palette according to their preference.
[0046] Placement and Fixation of the Palette:
[0047] The transparent plexiglas palette (6) is placed onto the support body (5) and secured without sliding with the aid of the groove (7). On the surface where the palette (6) is placed, the groove (7) prevents the palette (6) from moving in any direction.
[0048] Placement of the Brushes:
[0049] Paint brushes are appropriately placed using the brush holding holes I (8), opened on the palette (6), and the brush holding holes II (15). These holes (8, 15) ensure that the brushes are held in an easily accessible position.
[0050] Placement of the Liquid Containers:
[0051] Liquid container I (11) and liquid container II (12), which carry the auxiliary liquids necessary for paint, are respectively placed into the liquid holding hole I (9) and the liquid holding hole II (10). Liquid container I (11) is generally used for auxiliary liquids such as linseed oil or poppy oil, while liquid container II (12) can be used for liquids needed apart from the paint, such as water, thinner, or turpentine.
[0052] Operation and Use:
[0053] The large surface area on the palette (6) is designed for the purpose of mixing paints and keeping them ready throughout the painting process. This surface provides great convenience during the preparation phase of the painting process. Paints are mixed here, and the user easily achieves the appropriate consistency by adding thinning mediums such as water and turpentine, or drying retardant materials such as linseed oil and poppy oil, as needed. During use, the user can easily adjust the angle of the palette according to the painting position via the rotation arm (16). This ensures that the paint palette is held in the optimum position according to the user's needs and working habits, thereby maximizing working comfort.
[0054] The canvas-securable paint palette which is the subject matter of the invention provides the large paint storage area offered by fixed palettes and the proximity to the painting surface offered by handheld palettes. Furthermore, it eliminates the physical burden imposed on the artist by handheld palettes by securing the palette to the canvas surface. At the same time, it saves time by accommodating brushes and paint mediums on the same surface. In addition, the fact that the palette (6) is replaceable provides a significant advantage in terms of cleaning. Considering these features, the canvas-securable paint palette allows access to all the requirements artists need via a single platform, bringing paints and mediums closer to the painting plane, thereby providing gains in terms of time and effort.
[0055] The design of the paint palette which is the subject matter of the invention consists of plastic and metal parts. The metal parts are standard commercially available equipment. The plastic components can be easily produced using molds or 3D printers. Its assembly can be done manually in one minute.
