[0005] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0006] Hair colouring or dyeing involves applying one or more dyes to the hair, resulting in a colouring of the hair fibres. There are different ways of colouring hair: For example, the hair colour can be subtly or dramatically changed as a whole. Nevertheless, only the root growth can be coloured to match the rest of the hair, or the same colour can be "refreshed" to counteract fading and / or wash-out. In addition, effects such as highlights or other sectional effects can be added.
[0007] While it is relatively easy to change the colour of the hair as a whole by dyeing to make it darker, or by bleaching to lighten it, the result of just dyeing or just bleaching can be disappointing. Hair treated in this way tends to have an uninteresting and boring uniform colour. Therefore, it is common to follow the dyeing or bleaching with a further step in which selected strands of hair are further treated so that their colour changes and these selected strands stand out against the background of the rest of the hair. Selected strands of a person's natural hair can also be treated in a similar way. The treatment of selected strands of hair to change the colour is called streaking / highlighting if the selected strands are lightened, or reverse streaking / reverse highlighting if they are darkened.
[0008] Colouring selected strands of hair is a difficult task for the hairdresser, as many strands of hair all over the head have to be treated individually with the appropriate treatment material, while the general mass of hair has to be protected from contact with the treatment material. Due to the time involved, the process is also exhausting for the client.
[0009] To date, two main methods have been known for creating streaks. In the first method, a thin elastic cap in the shape of a swimming cap is placed on the head of the person whose hair is to be streaked, into which holes are pierced with a needle in the shape of a crochet hook, and fine strands are pulled outwards. To these strands, hair dye is applied. In a similar process, strands of hair to be dyed are separated with a comb, a sheet of aluminium foil is placed under the strands, the hair dye is applied to the strands with a brush and the aluminium foil is then folded around the strands and sealed.
[0010] Alternatively, several coloured streaks can be created using a method in which several adhesive strips are painstakingly stuck to the hair to partially block the colouring in the desired areas. This method is feasible for shows and photo shoots for a limited time, but not in a commercially viable, consumer-relevant range as it is very tedious and time-consuming.
[0011] In an alternative method, each strand to be coloured is treated with an applicator brush to which the hair dye is applied by drawing the soaked applicator brush through the isolated strand from the root of the hair. This creates streaks that have sharply defined edges, giving an unnatural look.
[0012] EP 3 263 180 A1 discloses a method for coloring hair fibers into a first and a second patterns, wherein the hair fibers have one or more initial color shades. The method comprises the steps: a) providing an adhesive composition, wherein the adhesive composition comprises, in a cosmetically acceptable carrier, a film-forming polymer; b) providing a hair coloring composition for forming a final color shade, which differ from the one or more initial color shades; c) applying the adhesive composition to a first plurality of hair fiber portions to form a first pattern, wherein the first plurality of hair fiber portions are covered and immobilized by the first pattern; d) drying the first plurality of hair fiber portions; e) applying the hair coloring composition to a second plurality of hair fiber portion including the first plurality of hair fibers comprising the first pattern; f) rinsing the adhesive composition and the hair coloring composition out of the hair fibers, and drying the hair fibers, to form a second pattern, wherein the second pattern comprises the second plurality of hair fiber portions without the first pattern, such that the hair fibers comprises the first pattern which has the one or more initial color shades and the second pattern which has the final color shade. The object of the present invention therefore was to provide an improved method of treating hair sections with a hair colouring composition (HCC), wherein the method does not retain the disadvantages of the prior art or only in diminished form, and which can be carried out at relatively low costs.

[0016] It has surprisingly been found that, by the inventive method, it is possible to colour selected sections or strands of hair safely, quickly and cost-effectively.
[0017] The adhesive composition (AC) advantageously prevents or alters bleaching or dyeing effects on the hair sections (Sc) coated with the adhesive composition (AC) when contacting these hair sections (Sc) with a hair colouring composition (HCC). In this way, interesting and creative colour effects like multi shades effects can be achieved in the hair and / or porous and thin hair sections or strands can be protected from further breakage through the, often aggressive, hair colouring composition (HCC). Furthermore, the hair sections (Sc) coated with the adhesive composition (AC) can also be protected from bleeding in case a bleaching composition (BC) is applied as hair colouring composition (HCC).
[0018] Beyond that, the adhesive composition (AC) dries fast and can be easily rinsed by water and, optionally, shampoo. Moreover, by using the adhesive composition (AC), it is no longer necessary to use aluminium foils for colouring hair sections or strands which reduces time, waste and costs.

Claims
Claims1. A method of treating hair, wherein the method comprises the following steps e) applying an adhesive composition (AC) on at least partially dry hair sections (SD), wherein the adhesive composition (AC) comprises as component (A) at least one polyurethane and as component (B) at least one cosmetically acceptable carrier, f) drying the adhesive composition (AC) to form hair sections (Sc) coated with the adhesive composition (AC), g) applying a hair colouring composition (HCC) onto the remaining hair which is not coated with the adhesive composition (AC) and, optionally, onto the hair sections (Sc) coated with the adhesive composition (AC), h) leaving the hair colouring composition (HCC) on the hair, and i) subsequently rinsing both the adhesive composition (AC) and the hair colouring composition (HCC) from the hair.
2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one cosmetically acceptable carrier (B) comprises the following components(B1) at least one alcohol and(B2) water.
3. The method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the adhesive composition (AC) further comprises at least one additive (C) selected from the group consisting of surfactants, conditioning agents, preservatives, colourants, fragrances, thickening agents, and rheology modifiers.
4. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the adhesive composition (AC) comprises in the range from 10 to 50 % by weight of component (A), based on the total weight of the adhesive composition (AC).
5. The method according to any one of claims 2 to 4, wherein the adhesive composition (AC) comprises 20 to 40 % by weight of component (A), 5 to 15 % by weight of component (B1) and 45 to 75 % by weight of component (B2), each based on the total weight of the adhesive composition (AC).
6. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the adhesive composition (AC) has a pH from 7 to 10, determined according to DIN ISO 976.
7. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the at least one polyurethane (A) has iii) at least one glass transition temperature (TG) in the range from -20 °C to 70 °C, and / or iv) a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) in the range from 5 000 to 20 000 g / mol.
8. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the adhesive composition (AC) has a viscosity in the range from 50 to 10 000 mPas at a temperature range of from 25 to 40°C, determined according to DIN EN 12092.
9. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein the at least one polyurethane (A) is prepared by a polyaddition reaction of isophorone diisocyanate, neopentyl glycol, a first polyesterdiol, a second polyesterdiol and dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA).
10. The method according to claim 9, wherein the first polyesterdiol is a polyesterdiol prepared by a reaction of adipic acid, isophthalic acid and 1,6- hexane diol, and the second polyesterdiol is prepared by a reaction of adipic acid, neopentyl glycol and 1 ,6-hexane diol.
11. The method according to any one of claims 2 to 10, wherein the at least one alcohol (B1) is ethanol.
12. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 11 , wherein, in step b), the adhesive composition (AC) is dried for a period in the range from > 1 minute to < 35 minutes.
13. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 12, wherein the hair colouring composition (HCC) is a direct dye, an oxidative hair colouring composition (OHCC) or a bleaching composition (BC).
14. The method according to any of claims 3 to 13, wherein the adhesive composition (AC) comprises in the range from 0 to 20 % by weight of component (C), based on the total weight of the adhesive composition (AC).

The method according to any one of claims 1 to 14, wherein, in step a), the adhesive composition (AC) is applied using a tool for precise application selected from the group consisting of a slim nozzle applicator, a sponge brush applicator, a spatula, and a fine paintbrush applicator, and combinations thereof.
