Description

[0001] Description

[0002] Title: Water-in-oil emulsion comprising an emulsifying elastomer, an oxyalkylenated silicone and squalane

[0003] Technical field

[0004] The present invention relates to a composition in the form of a water-in-oil emulsion comprising a polyglycerolated silicone elastomer, an a, co-substituted oxyalkylenated silicone, and squalane. It also relates to the use of the composition for caring for or making up keratin materials.

[0005] Prior art

[0006] Cosmetic compositions comprising a polyglycerolated emulsifying silicone elastomer are known from EP 1579845. The compositions may also comprise a silicone surfactant such as a dimethicone copolyol or cetyl dimethicone copolyol.

[0007] The use of oxyalkylenated silicone combined with a polyglycerolated silicone elastomer is advantageous for the production of a water-in-oil emulsion.

[0008] The Absolue Fluid® foundation sold by Lancome comprising the combination of a) DIMETHICONE / POLYGLYCERIN-3 CROSSPOLYMER + b) BIS-PEG / PPG-14 / 14 DIMETHICONE is known (Sublime Rejuvenating Essence Foundation Mintel file).

[0009] However, it is necessary to optimize the cosmetic properties to be able to obtain a pleasant, easy-to-apply texture and a deposited film, after application to the skin, having a pleasant feel and good homogeneity.

[0010] Disclosure of the invention

[0011] The inventors have discovered that the cosmetic properties can be optimized by using squalane, which is a saturated isoprenoid hydrocarbon, in the composition.

[0012] The composition forms a protective film on the skin and has a feeling of softness to the touch.

[0013] The composition spreads well on the skin without gliding too much and with a dragging sensation, providing an easy application for the face. After application to the skin, the composition forms a uniform deposit, without fingerprints or brush marks. The film deposited on the skin has a bright, shiny appearance, unlike a matte effect: the deposited film has a good radiance property. The deposited film is also comfortable on the skin. Thus, the composition has good sensory properties and good deposition performance, in particular makeup performance.

[0014] Summary of the invention

[0015] Thus, one subject of the present invention is a composition in the form of a water-in-oil emulsion comprising:

[0016] - a) from 0.5% to 2.5% by weight of a polyglycerolated silicone elastomer,

[0017] - b) from 1.5% to 2.5% by weight of an a, co-substituted oxyalkylenated silicone,

[0018] - c) from 0.5% to 5% by weight of saturated isoprenoid hydrocarbon, the percentages being expressed as weight of active material relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0019] A further subject of the invention is a process for the cosmetic treatment, in particular non- therapeutic cosmetic treatment, of keratin materials, notably of the skin, comprising the application to the keratin materials of a composition as described above.

[0020] The cosmetic treatment process is in particular a process for caring for or making up keratin materials.

[0021] Detailed description

[0022] The water-in-oil emulsion comprises an aqueous phase dispersed in a continuous oily phase.

[0023] A composition according to the invention is generally suitable for topical application to the skin and thus generally comprises a physiologically acceptable medium, i.e. a medium that is compatible with the skin.

[0024] It is preferably a cosmetically acceptable medium, i.e. a medium which has a pleasant colour, odour and feel and which does not cause any unacceptable discomfort, i.e. stinging, tautness or redness, liable to discourage the user from applying this composition.

[0025] A composition according to the invention may be prepared according to techniques that are well known to those skilled in the art. The composition according to the invention comprises a polyglycerolated silicone elastomer.

[0026] It is an emulsifying elastomer.

[0027] The polyglycerolated silicone elastomer is a crosslinked elastomeric organopolysiloxane obtainable by a crosslinking addition reaction of diorganopolysiloxane containing at least one hydrogen bonded to silicon, with polyglycerolated compounds having ethylenically unsaturated groups, in particular in the presence of a platinum catalyst.

[0028] Preferably, the crosslinked elastomeric organopolysiloxane is obtained by a crosslinking addition reaction (A) of a diorganopolysiloxane containing at least two hydrogens each bonded to a silicon, with (B) glycerolated compounds having at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups, in particular in the presence (C) of a platinum catalyst.

[0029] In particular, the organopolysiloxane may be obtained by reaction of a dimethylvinylsiloxy-terminated polyglycerolated compound with trimethylsiloxy- terminated methylhydropolysiloxane, in the presence of a platinum catalyst.

[0030] Compound (A) is the base reactant for the formation of elastomeric organopolysiloxane, and the crosslinking is carried out by an addition reaction of compound (A) with compound (B) in the presence of catalyst (C).

[0031] Compound (A) is in particular an organopolysiloxane having at least 2 hydrogen atoms bonded to different silicon atoms within each molecule.

[0032] Compound (A) can have any molecular structure, in particular a linear-chain or branched- chain structure or a cyclic structure.

[0033] Compound (A) may have a viscosity at 25°C ranging from 1 to 50 000 centistokes, notably so as to be readily miscible with compound (B).

[0034] The organic groups bonded to the silicon atoms of compound (A) may be alkyl groups containing from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, octyl, decyl, dodecyl (or lauryl), myristyl, cetyl or stearyl; substituted alkyl groups such as 2- phenylethyl, 2-phenylpropyl or 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl; aryl groups such as phenyl, tolyl or xylyl; substituted aryl groups such as phenylethyl; and substituted monovalent hydrocarbon-based groups such as an epoxy group, a carboxylate ester group or a mercapto group. Preferably, said organic group is selected from methyl, phenyl, and lauryl groups.

[0035] Compound (A) may thus be selected from trimethylsiloxy-terminated methylhydropolysiloxanes, trimethylsiloxy-terminated dimethylsiloxane / methylhydrosiloxane copolymers, dimethylsiloxane / methylhydrosiloxane cyclic copolymers, and trimethylsiloxy-terminated dimethylsiloxane / methylhydrosiloxane / laurylmethylsiloxane copolymers.

[0036] Compound (B) may be a polyglycerolated compound corresponding to the following formula (B1):

[0037] CmH2m- 1 " O-[Gly]n-C nfim-l (B') in which m is an integer ranging from 2 to 6, n is an integer ranging from 2 to 200, preferably ranging from 2 to 100, preferably ranging from 2 to 50, preferably n ranging from 2 to 20, preferably ranging from 2 to 10 and preferentially ranging from 2 to 5, and in particular equal to 3; Gly denotes:

[0038] -CH2-CH(OH)-CH2-O- or -CH2-CH(CH2OH)-O-

[0039] The sum of the number of ethylenic groups per molecule of compound (B) and of the number of hydrogen atoms bonded to silicon atoms per molecule of compound (A) is advantageously at least 4.

[0040] It is advantageous for compound (A) to be added in an amount such that the molecular ratio between the total amount of hydrogen atoms bonded to silicon atoms in compound (A) and the total amount of all the ethylenically unsaturated groups in compound (B) is within the range from 1 / 1 to 20 / 1. Compound (C) is the catalyst of the crosslinking reaction and is in particular chloroplatinic acid, chloroplatinic acid-olefin complexes, chloroplatinic acid-alkenylsiloxane complexes, chloroplatinic acid-diketone complexes, platinum black, and platinum on a support.

[0041] Catalyst (C) is preferably added in an amount of from 0.1 to 1000 parts by weight and better still from 1 to 100 parts by weight, as platinum metal proper, per 1000 parts by weight of the total amount of compounds (A) and (B).

[0042] The polyglycerolated silicone elastomer is generally mixed with at least one hydrocarbonbased oil and / or one silicone oil to form a gel. In these gels, the polyglycerolated elastomer is often in the form of non-spherical particles.

[0043] Such elastomers are described in particular in patent application WO 2004 / 024798.

[0097] A foundation composition according to the invention (Composition 1) and a comparative composition (Composition 1') below were prepared. Composition 1’ is similar to composition 1 but without squalane (and compensated for by an additional 2% of dimethicone 2 cSt).

[0098] [Table 1]

[0099] The cosmetic properties of these foundations were evaluated by a panel of 18 people accustomed to using liquid foundations.

[0100] The foundation according to the invention (Composition 1) has a less slippery texture. After application to the skin, it forms a uniform deposit, without fingerprints or brush marks. The deposit has a protective, soft to the touch, residual film on the skin. Composition 1 is preferred.
