Abstract

The present invention relates to the construction industry and, in particular, to a system and process for producing hollow blocks or bricks for non-structural masonry, using wood shavings or sawdust as a base material. These blocks or bricks are intended to offer an alternative to conventional ceramic blocks, thereby helping to reduce environmental impacts. The composition of the mixture intended for manufacturing the hollow blocks or bricks uses, as main raw materials, wood shavings obtained from planed wood or sawdust, in combination with binding adhesives such as white glue (PVA), contact adhesive (neoprene), epoxy adhesive, resorcinol-based adhesive, or melamine-formaldehyde-based adhesive. In addition to the main raw materials, additives can be incorporated into the mixture to enhance specific properties, such as thermal and acoustic insulation and water repellency (waterproofing). Among these additives, notable examples include PET (polyethylene terephthalate) flakes, expanded polystyrene, vermiculite, sisal fibers, ramie fibers, coconut fibers, rock wool, and glass wool.
