Abstract

The present invention discloses a plant phenotype monitoring system and a method of monitoring plant phenotype along with water uptake and loss, and accurately measure plant transpiration rate, assay moisture content in pots or planting containers, along with generating research data on drought indices, analysing plant-environment interactions. The system comprises a gravimetric load cell, a corrosion-resistant pot, environmental sensors, plant growth media sensors, a control unit configured with a cloud based server along with fertigation / irrigation inlets and outlets. The system enables each pot to receive differential irrigation or fertigation or both as required for them controlled by an independent control unit.
