Abstract

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for pulverizing carbon black which makes it possible to efficiently pulverize carbon black having a specific particle diameter distribution and thereby obtain carbon black having an excellent particle diameter distribution. The method for pulverizing carbon black for the purpose of solving the problem comprises: a step in which carbon black (A), 50 vol% or more of which is accounted for by particles having particle diameters of 1 μm or larger, is mixed with a dispersion medium and a base to obtain a slurry; and a step in which the slurry is used to pulverize the carbon black (A). The content of the carbon black (A) in the slurry is less than 20 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the dispersion medium.

Claims

1. A method for grinding carbon black, comprising the steps of: mixing carbon black (A) having particles of 1 μm or larger in volume of 50% or more, a dispersion medium, and a base to obtain a slurry; and grinding the carbon black (A) using the slurry, wherein the content of the carbon black (A) in the slurry is less than 20 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the dispersion medium.

2. The method for grinding carbon black according to claim 1, wherein the content of the carbon black (A) is 4 parts by mass or more and 18 parts by mass or less per 100 parts by mass of the dispersion medium.

3. The method for grinding carbon black according to claim 1, wherein the concentration of the base in the slurry is 0.05 mol / L or more.

4. The method for grinding carbon black according to claim 1, wherein the viscosity of the slurry containing the ground carbon black after grinding the carbon black (A) is 10,000 mPa·s or less at 34°C.
