A porous polymeric matrix containing at least one natural polymer and at least one synthetic polymer and optionally at least one cation. Furthermore, a method of making a porous polymeric matrix involving mixing at least one natural polymer and inorganic salts with a solution comprising at least one solvent and at least one synthetic polymer to form a slurry, casting the slurry in a mold and removing the solvent to form solid matrices, immersing the solid matrices in deionized water to allow natural polymer cross-linking and pore creation to occur simultaneously, and drying the matrices to create a porous polymeric matrix; wherein the matrix contains a cation. Also, a method of making a porous polymeric matrix, involving mixing at least one natural polymer in an aqueous solvent and mixing at least one synthetic polymer in an organic solvent, combining the mixtures and casting in a mold, and separately removing said aqueous solvent and said organic solvent to form a porous polymeric matrix; wherein the porous polymeric matrix does not contain a cation.

A lubricating base stock useful for forming lubricants such as a multigrade automotive oils, automatic transmission oils, greases and the like is prepared by hydroisomerizing a waxy hydrocarbon feed fraction having an initial boiling point in the 650-750 DEG F. range and an end point of at least 1050 DEG F., synthesized by a slurry Fischer-Tropsch hydrocarbon synthesis process. The hydroisomerization forms a hydroisomerate containing the desired base stock which is recovered, without dewaxing the hydroisomerate. The hydroisomerization is conducted at conditions effective to convert at least 67 wt. % of the 650-750 DEG F.+ waxy feed hydrocarbons to lower boiling hydrocarbons. When combined with a standard lubricant additive package, these base stocks have been formed into multigrade automotive crankcase oils, transmission oils and hydraulic oils meeting the specifications for these oils.

Buckyrock is a three-dimensional, solid block material comprising an entangled network of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNT), wherein the block comprises greater than 75 wt % SWNT. SWNT buckyrock is mechanically strong, tough and impact resistant. The single-wall carbon nanotubes in buckyrock form are present in a random network of individual single-wall carbon nanotubes, SWNT “ropes” and combinations thereof. The random network of the SWNT or SWNT ropes can be held in place by non-covalent “cross-links” between the nanotubes at nanotube contact points. In one embodiment, SWNT buckyrock is made by forming a SWNT-water slurry, slowly removing water from the slurry which results in a SWNT-water paste, and allowing the paste to dry very slowly, such that the SWNT network of the SWNT-water paste is preserved during solvent evaporation. Buckyrock can be used in applications, such as ballistic protection systems, involving light-weight material with mechanical strength, toughness and impact resistance.

Methods and compositions for forming permeable cement sand screens in well bores are provided. The compositions are basically comprised of a hydraulic cement, an acid soluble particulate solid, a liquid hydrocarbon solvent soluble particulate solid, a particulate cross-linked gel containing an internal breaker which after time causes the gel to break into a liquid, water present in an amount sufficient to form a slurry, a gas present in an amount sufficient to form a foam and a mixture of foaming and foamed stabilizing surfactants.

A method for providing a through wafer connection to an integrated circuit silicon package. A hole is first created in the silicon package with an inner surface area extending from the bottom surface of the silicon package to the top surface of the silicon package. The hole is created by one of two methods. The first involves mechanical drilling with a diamond bit rotated at a high rate of speed. The second involves ultrasonically milling utilizing a slurry and steel fingers. The inner surface area of the hole is covered with an insulating material to insulate the conductive material which is later deposited and to serve as a diffusion barrier, then a seed material is placed in the hole. Finally, the hole is filled with a conductive material which is utilized to provide large power inputs or signaling connections to the integrated circuit chips.

The invention relates to the field of building materials, and in particular relates to a self-heat-preservation building block and a self-heat-preservation wall body consisting of self-heat-preservation building blocks, which aim to solve the technical problem that conventional building wall body materials cannot have the functions of bearing, heat preservation and fire prevention simultaneously. According to the technical scheme, the self-heat-preservation building block comprises a building block body which is made of foamed cement; transverse through slots are formed in the upper surface of the building block; vertical through holes are formed in the building block; one or several of concrete slurry, cement mortar, plaster and heat preservation plaster is/are filled into the transverse through slots to form core columns; concrete slurry or cement mortar is filled into the vertical through holes to form core columns; and the core columns and the building block body are combined to form a whole body. The self-heat-preservation wall body consists of the self-heat-preservation building blocks. The self-heat-preservation building block and the self-heat-preservation wall body have functions of heat preservation and fire prevention as well as bearing.

A method and apparatus for assembling microstructures onto a substrate through fluid transport. The microstructures being shaped blocks self-align into recessed regions located on a substrate such that the microstructure becomes integral with the substrate. The improved method includes a step of transferring the shaped blocks into a fluid to create a slurry. Such slurry is then dispensed evenly or circulated over the top surface of a substrate having recessed regions thereon. The microstructure via the shape and fluid tumbles onto the surface of the substrate, self-aligns, and engages into a recessed region.

The present invention provides a method of exfoliating a layered material (e.g., graphite and graphite oxide) to produce nano-scaled platelets having a thickness smaller than 100 nm, typically smaller than 10 nm. The method comprises (a) dispersing particles of graphite, graphite oxide, or a non-graphite laminar compound in a liquid medium containing therein a surfactant or dispersing agent to obtain a stable suspension or slurry; and (b) exposing the suspension or slurry to ultrasonic waves at an energy level for a sufficient length of time to produce separated nano-scaled platelets. An apparatus configured for connection to a mixer for receiving a slurry and altering the flow characteristics of the slurry includes a conduit having a main inlet in slurry receiving communication with the mixer outlet and extending to a spout for discharging the slurry, at least one conduit restrictor associated with the conduit for creating back-pressure between the conduit restrictor and the mixer outlet for keeping the mixer full, and at least one pressure reducer associated with the discharge spout and configured for reducing the pressure of the slurry dispensed from the discharge spout. The apparatus is configured for maintaining a generally laminar flow from the mixer outlet to the discharge spout.

CMP slurries comprising at least an abrasive, at least an organic phosphonate, at least an oxidizer, and water are disclosed. The slurries can optionally include corrosion inhibitors, surfactants, polymers, and bases. The concentrations of the ingredients in the slurries can be appropriately chosen to formulate copper CMP slurry and barrier CMP slurry. The copper CMP slurries are capable of polishing copper at high removal rate and having high selectivity to tantalum barrier. The barrier slurries deliver good planarity and have high hydrogen peroxide stability.

The present invention discloses a CMP pad dresser which has a plurality of uniformly spaced abrasive particles protruding therefrom. The abrasive particles are super hard materials, and are typically diamond, polycrystalline diamond (PCD), cubic boron nitride (cBN), or polycrystalline cubic boron nitride(PcBN). The abrasive particles are brazed to a substrate which may be then coated with an additional anti-corrosive layer. The anti-corrosive layer is usually a diamond or diamond-like carbon which is coated over the surface of the disk to prevent erosion of the brazing alloy by the chemical slurry used in conjunction with the CMP pad. This immunity to chemical attack allows the CMP pad dresser to dress the pad while it is polishing a workpiece. In addition to even spacing on the substrate, the abrasive particles extend for a uniform distance away from the substrate, allowing for even grooming or dressing of a CMP pad both in vertical and horizontal directions. A method of producing such a CMP pad dresser is also disclosed.

Methods of slowing or accelerating the hydrolysis and dissolution are given, and addition of bridging-promoting materials is included.

The inventioin is characterized by the less methylaluoxane consumption, stable reaction, easy-to-control polymerization temperature and non still-sticking phenomenon. The produced polyolefine possesses perfect granual shape, and the maximum polymer clamp density can reach 0.385 g/ml.

A well screen having an internal alternate flowpath for delivering gravel slurry to different levels within a well annulus and a method for assembling same. The screen is comprised of an outer pipe which is concentrically positioned over a base pipe so that an annulus is formed therebetween. Both pipes are perforated along their respective lengths but only part way around their respective circumferences. The respective perforated sections radially align with each other when the pipes are assembled. A plurality of longitudinal ribs isolate the annulus adjacent the perforated sections (i.e. production side of screen) from the annulus adjacent the non-perforated sections (i.e. alternate flowpath side of screen). At least one outlet is provided through the non-perforated section of the outer pipe to provide an outlet from the internal alternate flowpath.

Methods and compositions useful for subterranean formation treatments, such as hydraulic fracturing treatments and sand control that utilize relatively lightweight and/or substantially neutrally buoyant particulates. The invention provides a ceramic slurry preparation and 3D (three dimensional) printing light curing molding method. 25-85vol% of ceramic powder and 15-75vol% of an optical resin premix solution are mainly involved, and the method includes: A), preparation of the optical resin premix : namely stirring a low polymer, a reactive diluent, a photoinitiator, a dispersing agent, a photosensitizer and a sensitizer according to a certain proportion under intermediate speed for 0.5-3 hours to enable the components to be mixed evenly; B), placing the premix solution and the ceramic powder in a ball mill according to certain volume for ball-milling for 5-15 hours to prepare the ceramic slurry high in solid content and low in viscosity; subjecting the ceramic slurry to curing molding layer by layer gradually on a 3D light curing molding machine to obtain a ceramic green body prior to aftertreatment of drying, degreasing, sintering and the like to obtain ceramic part. The method is high in preparation molding precision and free of molds to prepare complex structure parts, the ceramic product can reach more than 92% in density, 320-1750MPa in flexural strength and 1800-4500MPa in compression strength.

Steam generating gasification reactors for providing high-pressure and high-temperature steam for catalytic gasification of a carbonaceous feedstock can be based on oxygen blown gasification reactors adapted for processing a slurry feedstock comprising at least 40% water. The exhaust from the slurry gasifier comprises at least steam, carbon monoxide and hydrogen. The slurry composition and the oxygen to fuel ratio can be varied to control the ratio of carbonaceous gases in the generator exhaust. By directing substantially all of exhaust gases produced from the slurry gasification reactor through the catalytic gasifier and subsequent gas separation and sequestration processes, a greatly higher energy efficiency and decreased carbon footprint can be realized.

The invention relates to a new catalyst for single active central Ziegler-Natta alkene polymerization. Said catalyst takes salicylal containing dentate or substituted salicylal derivatives as electrons, and is prepared by adding pretreated carrier, metallic compound and electrons into magnesium compound/ tetrahydrofuran solution. The catalyst can produce ethane homopolymer and copolymer with narrow molecular weight distribution (1.6-3.8) and even comonomer distribution, with high activity and under action of adjuvant catalyst of alkyl aluminium and alkyl aluminoxanes. The ethane polymerization, homopolymerization or combined polymerization of ethane and 1- olefin, ring olefin and polar monomer through slurry method or gas phase method by using said catalyst can be realized.

A fixed abrasive tool incorporating nanodiamond particles is described and disclosed. A fixed abrasive tool can include a polishing layer on a substrate. The polishing layer can include an organic matrix with nanodiamond particles therein. The polishing layer can be formed in a wide variety of configurations, depending on the specific polishing application. Most often, the polishing layer can include a plurality of projections which can have a wide variety of configurations in order to achieve a particular polishing performance. Nanodiamond particles used in the present invention can have a particle size from about 1 nm to about 50 nm, and preferably about 2 nm to about 10 nm. Optionally, the nanodiamond particles can include a carbonaceous coating. Such fixed abrasive tools can be formed by screen printing of a slurry of nanodiamond particles and an organic binder to form a predetermined three-dimensional pattern. Other methods can also be used to form the disclosed nanodiamond fixed abrasive tools. These fixed abrasive tools are particularly suitable for polishing expensive workpieces such as silicon wafers, integrated circuitry, gemstones, and hard drive platters.
